I live in Sandy and this is one of our regular stops! They don't serve alcohol but serve one hell of a dinner! I LOVE the warm tapioca like dessert they serve and front porch seating is wonderful on a warm day~ We're always treated first class!

This place is amazing. They have a great lunch special. They have some of the best Pad Ke Mao (there titled Spicy Noodles) I've had anywhere. And rest of the menu is quite good. Also, service is always stellar, and the people here are nicest around. Only downside is that the curry is pretty average. They changed ownership recently, and though a lot improved in quality (most noticably the interior was re-done), the curry, which used to be awesome, is now about the same as every other place. All in all, best overall Thai place I've ever been at.

Thai food isn't exactly hard to come by anymore, but Thai Home is as good as you'll find out there. It's not super-cheap, but the prices are definitely reasonable. But the best part is definitely the service. Every time I've gone in the owner was at the front register with a smile. He's happily offered me water and tapioca while I wait for my order (even if I'm just picking up take-out!). I live about five minutes away from this place and drop in often, and I've never had a bad experience. Very highly recommended!

In the past we have had very good dinners at this place. Not sure if they have gone through new management or last night was just an off night but the food was not very good. I ordered the salt and pepper squid. The squid was almost tasteless. The bed of lettuce that the squid was served on was very bad quality. Who chops up and serves the heart of iceberg lettuce? That was disgusting. My ice tea was all ice and when I asked for a refill the sugar was already taken from the table. My wife had the thai basil dish with tofu. Very much just ok but not worth the price. The seating is made up of bench seats that must be 50 years old. Very uncomfortable. I didn't mind the seating when the food was good. I dislike giving small businesses poor reviews. When I go back, I will be expecting the good tasting higher quality food that I have had there in the past. If not, I will not go back. If there is improvement, I will amend this review.

This place is great! The food is typical (Americanized) Thai fare, done really well. It's not a fancy place but it is comfortable and they have a great patio for summer. Our favorite dishes have been salt and pepper squid, any of the curries, thom ka soup, cashew nut stir fry, spicy basil stir fry and the sizzling peanut sauce dish. The service is always nice, if sometimes a little hurried. It seems as if there is only one waitress on at a time, so if it's packed then she's busy. Big surprise. It's still a great place for dinner and the best Thai outside of Portland proper.

I went here with my mom and ordered orange chicken, thai bbq chicken, chicken pad thai and golden crab (AKA crab puffs). All of the chicken was severely overcooked. It was dry and tough and parts of the bbq chicken were burnt so badly that it was inedible. The flavors were pretty good, I guess, but that's not enough. And considering that the bbq chicken is actually whole pieces of chicken (legs, breasts etc..), I would have liked it to be marinaded, at least, rather than just coated with sauce and plain inside. We didn't like the pad thai either. The taste wasn't great, the noodles were pretty mushy. However, we've never had pad thai before and have nothing to compare it to, so if you consider yourself a pad thai fan, perhaps it's best to try it yourself since other people have rated it well. The golden grab, on the other hand, was incredible. By far the best we've ever had. Will we return? Most likely not. If the prices were reasonable, I'd be willing to try other dishes, because this restaurant gets generally great reviews here on Yelp, but I paid nearly $40 for this. At a good restaurant, $40 for two people should get you something that'll knock your socks off. For Asian food in Sandy, I guess I'll just stick with Double Dragon.

Though this establishment serves family style entrees, I ordered the seafood soup for myself. While pretty flavorful, there was very little seafood bobbing around the pool of soup. The real deal-breaker for me was finding multiple inedible items, such as hard bay leaves and seafood bones/skins lurking at the bottom of the hot pot. This left me fishing around my mouth with my fingers.

Good golly Miss Molly, this place is the bomb! I first came here several years ago and it was lovely, but I didn't make it out to Sandy too often. But thank goodness we moved to Sandy. This is one of the best Thai places around - period. We had the Garden Rolls which were very fresh and lovely. Tom Kha had amazing flavor and was very satifing. And a shrimp salad. Service is amazing. Very attentive and happy to have us here. We sat outside in the early evening. A great experience was had... we'll definitely be back many times now that we live in town.

It's not just Thai food it's Thai Home. This place makes you feel at home with hospitality and beautiful setting. Husband and wife owners are awesome! they have dishes not common to other Thai places, favorites so far are sizzling duck, spicy grilled shrimp salad, and jungle curry! Eat here now!

They have indoor and outdoor seating. The servers are helpful explaining the ingredients used in the dishes. Some of the pictures show the dishes but are decorative, for example one shows a whole fish though they explained it is made with the fillet. The ginger fish is excellent and the sweet and sour chicken lightly breaded. The music is soft and at low volume. This is a very good restaurant.

I do not live in Sandy anymore but I still dream of food from this restaurant! Love it! Can you please move to California Thai Home?

Food was excellent and only surpassed by the amazing service and hospitality. The green curry with steak was great. Crab fried rice got rave reviews. Spicy noodle was excellent. Satay was a great appetizer with a very good sauce. The service was very warm and made my entire family feel welcome and special. Great experience - we will be back

Pretty good for its price. Healthy food choices, dishes not overly oily, not too salty, with reasonable portions. The serving stuff here are very friendly.

  • Bec H.

I love this place! Probably the best Thai food I've had in the Portland metro area. Highly recommend the curry dishes. My personal favorite is the massaman. I would have given a full five stars if the service was a little faster, but well worth the wait.

Looking for Thai in a new town is always difficult, since there is always such variety in quality. We went upon the recommendation of an employee at The Oregon Garden Hotel, and wow was she right on. This was authentic Thai food and was enjoyed by both of us. Our dishes of choice were: Pork Bun(she called it something else, but whatever you call it, it was tasty). Phad Thai - Yummy and moist Pork chop and fried Rice. Again, great season and perfectly cooked. Our server was very friendly and helpful with suggestions.

A.M.A.Z.I.N.G. is the word for this little nook tucked away. Chicken and veggie soup is soo good. Pad thai, great! Cashew chicken curry? amazing. Will eat here frequently. So wonderful.

My wife and I just got back from Thailand a couple months ago and we were jonesing for some Thai. After going to the movies with my parents and grandparents, we went out for that food at Thai Home. They were kind, helpful, and prompt with their service - but the food just didn't do it for me. I didn't like Thai Home very much I think. There was just too much sugar in their pad Thai - and their crab and cheese wan tons were pretty bad, too. I didn't hate it, though. It's the kind of thing where - if someone wants to go there, I will and perhaps I'll try something new - but I won't be the one to bring it up.

I was a little worried about eating here because I've been to many Thai joints (in Portland) with great Yelp reviews and found them not so great.. I am happy to say my worries quickly subsided as my experience here was great and kept getting better! My boyfriend and I went in to grab some to-go lunch on our way home to Portland from Hood. The ladies who took our order were so smiley and sweet! When we were ordering we mumbled something about wondering what the "Thai Home dessert" was and another lady said "it's tapioca!" Later, when we were waiting for our take out, she asked us if we wanted to try some of the dessert, and gave us two little bowls. :) and holy cow it was delicious! We shared the "Spicy Noodle" I think it was called?? It was delicious! Lots of flavor. My only complaint is that it came with a lot of lettuce on the side.. Which just took up space. Also the portion wasn't huge, and it could have used more noodles. I left with a huge grin though! Happy place. Eat there.

Very good food, I had the shrimp pad thai, I asked for medium spicy but was not spicy at all and a little bland actually but good authentic quality. I also had the crab and cream cheese fried won tons they were hot fresh and awesome. ...I want to mention the man who is the owner, I ordered my food to go, the nice lady told me 10 to 15 minutes, so I said fine, and told her I would wait in my truck and be back. I was out front in my truck for 5 minutes and the man came out and brought me a glass of ice water while I waited. Who does this? I was so surprised how he tried to make me feel like I was a quest in his house. I've never met him before and he was so nice, even shook my hand when he gave me my food. I will definitely be back

  • Laura B.

Really really good food!!! The place is on the small side, no room for parties larger than 6, theres only about 8 tables total. Clean, nice atmosphere and nice waitresses. We ordered pad thai. Portions are on the small side. The waitress offered us a mango dessert, which we took her up on. The dessert was delicious, but expensive, cost more than the Pad Thai! We didn't have time to finish the dessert and the waitress seemed disappointed we didn't eat all of it. Even though the portions are small for the price, we can't wait to go back!

I was excited to see a Thai restaurant upon recently moving to Sandy so it was a given that we would be trying it right away (kitchen packed up in boxes!). We have since eaten here a second time in the past 3 weeks and it seems to be even more disappointing than the first visit. Both times we ordered take out. Ordering over the phone was easy, orders always correct, man over the phone is pleasent and provided an accurate pick up time. The food was hot and bagged well! Important when transporting dinner. We have ordered the garden rolls and they were tasty but the peanut sauce was overly watery and fairly tasteless. The orange chicken lived up to past reviews as well as the accompanying white rice. The rice was delicious! Onto the pad Thai.... I have eaten a lot of pad Thai and this doesn't resemble any others, in a not so good sort of way. I was disappointed by the mushy noodles, lack of sauce, no fresh herbs (color and flavor), no lime served with, and the lack of chicken (4-5 quarter sized pieces). My boyfriend actually had one decent sized piece of chicken in his dish and he put it on my plate to try and save dinner. I really hope they make some changes and improvements.

Me & my husband really like this place. The service is always good, waiters are very nice and polite. I usually get my favourite sweet&sour with shrimp,he gets a pad woon sen, both dishes are delicious and fresh, definitely not bland! I have recently tried their red curry. It was fantastic! I don't understand why some people complain about blandness of their dishes. In my opinion, they are packed with flavour, even the lunch soups. And we usually get some tapioca pudding for free, which completes the meal perfectly. I am definitely going to try more dishes!

My cousin and I went to hiking, we were hungry, and craved Thai food. We checked in yelp, there is a Thai restaurant like 15miles from the place that we were. Yelp says 4stars, I was so enthusiastic to go there and no doubt that restaurant. When we got there, the place looks cozy, but when I was inside, I saw a lot of flies inside, I swear! Okay, I understand it's summer, but the waitress ignored dirty dishes next to our table since we got there until we finished our food. This restaurant needs hire more waitress. Not only that, the food is so blend, I ordered chicken panang and it tastes like a sauce from sachet which mixed with water and chicken. I was truly right, when I finished the food and on the way to the car, I found a lot of instant seasonings in their kitchen! Oh boy, I could cook like that too :/ Also, they have small portion :(

  • Tj E.

Great food and service. They get busy and location is small. The have outdoor seating and a small dining area inside. Great for take out. Best Thai around

  • Nichole M.

Very good food but they have a ton of flies. I mean a lot! It makes me question their cleanliness and that makes me very uncomfortable eating there.

They close at 9 and we showed up at 8:45, they were gracious, friendly, and the food is fantastic! Get the sizzling spinach!

I love Thai Home. Their food is so excellent and oddly authentic considering you're getting it in Sandy. The service is always great too. Try the chicken satay and any of their curries. Their orange chicken is also super tasty, not greasy like those big chain restaurants.

  • MandM S.

We ate here and loved every bite of our food. We wished we lived locally in the area so we could eat there more often. If you are looking for a quite and authentic Thai restaurant go here and you will love it.

Sigh. I'd love to give them a 5-star review, but after the past several experiences, I just can't. My family has yet to dine-in, we have only ever done take-out, so keep that in mind. The last time we ordered, we drove the 20 mins there to pick up our food, paid, then drove back home. When we returned home we discovered that two of our main dishes weren't in the bags--the forgot to give them to us! Normally that wouldn't be a big deal, it wouldn't upset us, but because each dish was $10, that was a hit. I had to drive back in an get the rest of our $80 meal. Yes. We paid $80 for take-out. And it's not worth it. Mind you, this isn't the first time they've forgotten to include food in our bags. We shouldn't have to check and make sure we're getting what we ordered. The quality and quantity of food has steadily decreased, while prices have increased. I wonder if their surge in popularity has made them rush through the cooking process? Or maybe they're trying to save some money, so they're purchasing lower quality ingredients. Either way, we've been disappointed the last few rounds. That being said, their Tom Ka Kai (?) soup is wonderful, always tasty. Their pad thai is okay, a little dry, a little bland, but otherwise it's okay. The orange chicken used to be that crispy coating-melt-in-your-mouth heaven, now it's been a bit on the soggy side, and the meat has been tough and dry. The staff has always been wonderful to us. They really are good people, which is why I struggle to give them a mediocre review. And maybe it is just because we've always done take out. Maybe dining in is the better option.

It's like having dinner at your Thai friend's house and their parents(or mom) happen to be at home making home cooked meal.

My go-to thai place in the Mt. Hood area. The ladies are so nice and adorable. The food is delicous and decently priced and the restaurant itself is so cozy and cute. Great pad thai, sizzling bbq pork (fave), tom kha soup, and yummy desserts. Always highly recommend.

  • Erin C.

We ate there at night during a snowboarding trip at timberline. Cozy place with spicy foods after snow at the mountain all day --- ahhh something really awesome about that. The portions are relatively medium compare to some of the other restaurants. Usually a group of 6 can share 5 dishes; but we could have ordered 6. And every dish were all about 3-4 stars giving the flavor. Definitely will return if we ever eat at Sandy.

    (4)
  • Jan A.

Yum!! Would highly recommend for great Thai food in Sandy, easily beats all Thai food elsewhere! The tom yum soup was perfect after a snowy, moonlight hike on the PCT. Go, it's good! also, the server IS friendly if you understand "Asian' hospitality. Be polite and friendly, so will she :)))

The food is so good. I recommend the Pineapple Fried Rice and the Red Curry. I have eaten here 3 times. The service is excellent. I travel to Sandy every Friday to babysit grandkids and I like to stop in. Nice to sit outside too on a Saturday afternoon in the sun.

Looking for somewhere new in Sandy to eat, my son suggested Thai food. We went in and its a tiny little place and they had one other table with people, at lunch time. We ordered the appetizer plate and it was really good, with a shrimp and spring rolls and a really lite sauce, that was so good. Now, before I finish the review and you are wondering why 2 stars if the food was good? The service was borderline outrageous and I've seen some bad bad service in my time. My son and I ordered at the exact same time. I had garlic pork and he had the grilled chicken. His was half a chicken and some plain white rice. I ordered the lunch garlic pork, which was a small dish of shredded pork in a decently good sauce. My son's order came out and I thought my order would be next. Ten minutes goes by and he was still waiting for my order to start eating. A small 'motherly' urging and he went ahead and started without me. They kept coming to the edge of the door way and smiling and nodding. They kept filling the water and no word about my dish. I finally asked the girl when she came back to fill up my water, where my plate was and she smiled and walked away and a man came back with a water pitcher seconds later trying to fill an already overfilled glass, and I asked if my order was coming, and he said we are getting it. It took them 25 minutes to bring my plate after my son was served his. One, if there was an issue, tell me, secondly, don't bring one plate and not the other. He had finished his and was waiting for me. I was trying to cancel the order when they brought it out. I was not impressed enough to even give them a second chance with that kind of service. The half chicken was kind of dry my son said and didn't have a lot of flavor. I gave him part of my garlic pork and he said he wished he had ordered that one, but we might still be there, if he had. There is another Thai place on the other side of Sandy I'd like to try. That was, actually, the place my son had suggested, but I didn't realize that til we had lots of time to talk while I waited. Judging by other reviews you may not have the experience I did.

Take it from regulars, this is a great little restaurant. Everything is fresh, bright and tasty. The service can be spotty only because the kitchen can lag on occasion and there's usually only one lady when they're busy--sometimes two. It's a small restaurant, so you can't go wrong with take-out if it's cold out and the outdoor tables are not available. They are very friendly people there, the owner is demure and polite. The prices are pretty good. There aren't a lot of decent places to eat in Sandy. It's mostly greasy slop like the Tollgate, or burgers, heavy Mexican food or bad, greasy Chinese food. Thai Home offers really the only fresh, light option, where you don't walk out feeling like you've eaten a brick. Recommend to all.

This place is very good!!! Authentic big time, I was surprise!! Moving from Los Angeles with loads of Thai restaurants I was floored when this one became my #1thai SPOT!!

Some of the best Thai food in this part of the county. Service has always been top drawer, nice ambiance, super yummy food. Cheap lunch pricing. High suggest coming here. There is more parking in the back of the building if you can't find on-street parking.

  • Joseph C.

Eaten here twice now since I moved to Sandy. Prices are alright, I'd be much more stoked if I paid 50 cents are a dollar less for curry, but the curry really is good. The Tom Yum Kai was really tasty. Basically a spicy thai soup. I don't know how they prepare it wish meat, but I'm pretty sure they just take a bowl of the batch of soup from that day and throw in some cubes of tofu and then serve it to you when you ask for the vegetarian. Not bad though, doesn't suck. I would suggest it. The Mussamun Curry, which has potatoes, peanuts, onions and a tamarind juice in coconut milk was really tasty. 9.95 though, more expensive if you want meats. The lunch specials are where it's at though. You get eggs rolls and rice with your meal. They ask you how spicy you want your dish whenever you order I'll be going back, I'm sure.

I love this place. The food is great but they are a but over priced and don't have options for smaller portions!

We just recently moved to Sandy and we're looking for our new "favorites". We were told about Thai Home and I have to say, it's pretty darn good! Our first trip my husband got the Orange Chicken, not too hard to mess up, but he thought it was delicious. I got the garden rolls (vegetarian) that came with this peanut dipping sauce which was AMAZING...we were licking the container clean! Our second trip there wasn't as good. We wanted to try something different then the first trip and I'd say both our dishes were just okay. So our 3rd time there (last night) we ordered the Orange chicken again and the garden rolls.....again really tasty, but the peanut dipping sauce was super runny....almost like water and hardly had any peanut taste (probably just a bad batch?). Regardless, we'll definitely be eating there again!

The food was a bit sweet (a curry and a pad thai). Spiciness is average to a little mild.

Good Thai food and really nice people and great service. I have had business lunches here a handful of times and really enjoy the food. Would go back without hesitation next time I am in Sandy and need a place to eat lunch.

  • Sarah A.

I come here a few times a year whenever I'm in town. Their lunch special is great! You get a cheaper entree as well as a soup appetizer that is awesome and this cute little warm tapioca dessert with the tiniest little spoon you will ever see. I always get the sweet and sour tofu stir fry, but their mussamen curry is also really good. The service is alright. They usually only have one lady serving. The restaurant is small, but they have more booths to sit in than tables. It's operated out of the owners home, I believe. I definitely recommend trying this place!

    (4)
  • Bryan I.

Drop by here if you're coming through sandy! VERY friendly staff, relatively speedy and above-average food. Excellent, fresh pad thai with just the right amount of spice, BUT their massaman curry with added eggplant was a little more watery than I am used to expecting....fix that and I'd bump it up to a spectacular 5stars!

    (4)
  • Lora E.

Had lunch during the week. Red Curry with chicken was just ok. I ordered Thai hot and it was delivered zero hot. She told me to make it hot myself. I don't mind spicing up a dish to extreme hot, but it is never as good as while cooking...Additionally, they serve zero alcohol and it was difficult to get a refill on the Thai iced tea. Tapioca was very strange.

  • Molly D.

Super tasty! We often order take out and eat at home on our way home from work. IMHO the portions are slightly larger when you order take out. The lunch specials are a great deal. The noodle dishes and red curry are awesome!

  • Neil R.

Good authentic thai cuisine.Service was lacking. Asian waitress had some communication issues. Wife ordered an appetizer as a meal but the waitress brought it long before the other meals. Bowl of rice arrived on the table 10 minutes before any meals. Three of us got our meals 5-10 minutes apart so I was served 20 minutes after my wife. Sat in a booth pretty uncomfortable Probably won't go back

Love the food here. Their Pad Thai and chicken Satay is excellent. The dining room is very small though. But well worth the wait for their food.

My husband and I have been eating at Thai Home for years and have had the chance to sample several dishes. For starters we usually have spring rolls or garden rolls. Both are delicious although it seems like the garden rolls are a better value and have a tasty coconut peanut dipping sauce. Second course is soup. We frequently share the small pot of Wonton soup and still each get two small cups. The soup broth has recently gotten better but used to be hit or miss. Entree's are served family style; be brave and try something new. If i want something slightly salty with a sweet aftertaste I'll get the Rad Nar. It's a wide noodle dish with broccoli and carrots with a tangy gravy sauce. If I'm looking for spice, I go for the pineapple curry which comes with a side of rice that's perfect for enjoying every last drop of delicious curry broth. I order the dish mild since I don't like my dishes too spicy. There hasn't been a dish I've been disappointed in and it's nice that their portions have remained the same as many restaurants try to go smaller.

I am a huge Thai fan and have been to a lot of different restaurants. Thai Home is pretty good for a small town like Sandy. The Pad Thai was less than great, offering no veggies and overdone noddles, but the tofu I got with it was great, not overdone at all as most places do and not fried, it was as if I made it myself and I really appreciated that. The red curry on the other hand was delicious! Hot and spicy and had me tearing up in all the right ways! The Thai Coffee at Thai House is among the best I have ever had and I will be going back if only for the coffee. Also Thai Home does NOT cook with MSG!

Love their food! Pad Thai, fried wantons, and tom kai is wonderful! Love this place and go back often.

My friend and I stopped here on our way back from a day of boarding at Mt Hood Meadows, and was the best decision I made all day. We showed up 30 min prior to closing and were invited in with a smile. The owner and staff were very gracious and the service was outstanding. We started with the crab puffs and they were amazing!! I had the Shrimp Pad Thai and there were close to 10 large shrimp. My friend had the wonton soup and all i heard from him was MMMMMMMmmmgood! The food and service was outstanding and cant wait to stop again for another excellent meal.

  • Breanna L.

This place is just ok. The curry tasted watered down and the garlic shrimp wasn't stellar, but not bad either. We encountered two people on our visit, the guy who seated us and took our order and the woman that cleared our plates and brought us drinks. The man was incredibly friendly and made us feel comfortable, the woman on the other hand, made us feel very unwelcome and awkward. It was a strange dichotomy, but the food was decent and we were willing to stay. Probably wouldn't go back for another visit, though.

The best pad Thai around and there orange chicken in really good very crispy and flavor full. The service is A+ very attentive with out being bothersome.the curry is average but i was not disappointed. the warm tapioca at the end of the meal is really good and a nice way to end a spicy Thai feast
