Been going to Liberty for over 10 years and this place feels like home. The bartenders are friendly and will make you pretty much any drink you want as long as they have the ingredients and you are not asking for something that takes a long time during a Friday or Saturday night like a Mojito. Also, their pours are not stingy and are fair pours compared to Top Dog, Underdog, Liberty Road Inn, etc...and at least their taps are clean! I have had many sour beer from Liberty Road Inn over the years because of their lack of cleaning on their lines. The menu is good and their current cook does a FANTASTIC job compared to ones in the past so if you have had disappointing food in the past, give it a try again and you should be quite pleased. I recommend his salmon salad or any of his gourmet burgers! If you wait until too late at night you will only be served bar menu items like fries and frozen deep fried things so STOP COMPLAINING about menu if you were trying to order a gourmet meal after the cook has left. I have seen young drunk people throw fits because of the menu and they want to order a meal at 10:00 at night. This is not your Mother's House....go home and get custom orders 24/7. This is a karoake bar that sometimes has bands. The KJ on the weekends that they have right now is not too bad but there have been others that were not the greatest and literally blared the music so loud you couldn't enjoy the singer. There are a couple of pool tables but do not come down to the bar on Tuesdays or you will not get a table because there is a pool club that comes in and plays. You can also play Golden Tee and Darts. Their lottery room has the new games and they keep the room picked up pretty good most of the time (especially at night). I don't usually have to go ask for a drink but sometimes if they have a bartender and no server you might have to if they get caught up in main bar. I never feel unsafe in this bar and I have not seen a lot of fighting over the years. Usually any fights that happen are one time things from young kids that don't normally come there to begin with and definitely cannot hold their liquor. I have left my vehicle in their parking lot overnight and have not had any problems with vandalism. Taxi cabs are pretty fast to arrive when needed. Really the only thing I cannot say a lot of nice about is their restroom. It is usually pretty dirty since it is shared with the mall and if there is not a girl on shift to clean it during bar time it can get pretty dirty. Honestly, I do not like the fact that the girl or guy serving my food and drink is also responsible for cleaning the bathroom. Personally, I think that is because the owners are cheap and are not willing to have somebody on a short shift on busy nights just for bussing tables and keeping the bathrooms clean. If you DO go to my favorite bar, AND I HOPE YOU DO, please remember to tip your servers and bartenders. They work hard for you and are paid with the idea that they also get tips. So when they don't, their paycheck is less than a teenager at McDonalds.

I've been going to this bar for about 3 years now. The staff has always been friendly, the taps are rotating with new beers all the time, and the food is pretty good as well. The karaoke brings in a good crowd of people who are there to have fun, not cause problems or start fights. The drinks are strong and cheap!

Horrible. Bartender was the rudest guy I've ever met. Went in on a Friday night, and it was dead. No surprise considering the service. No wonder this bar is one of the least popular in all of Salem

Wow. Went here for my girlfriend's birthday, she had one drink prior to coming here. She was slow at showing her ID because she was talking to someone else and he cut us off. Bartender really needs to learn to be able to tell the difference between someone having fun and someone that has been drinking too much.

Yep, another bar my friends like. Came here on a Friday night and they had Karaoke going in full swing. Not bad, but when my friend signed up for a couple songs and it took the better part of two hours to get those songs in - ouch. I had one drink, something called a "Nerds". It was $7 and tasted like super sweet candy, but it didn't sit well with my stomach so that was my only drink of the night. I really need to learn I just don't drink anymore and need to stop trying. . . sigh. While we waited, and waited, for my friend's songs I ordered some snacks. One order of fries and one order of onion rings. Both were pretty good while hot, but once the rings cooled down they were rather gross. The two pool tables a popular place, fortunately we were able to snag one and there we stayed. There were multiple birthday groups on this particular night so every half hour or so the whole bar would be instructed to sing Happy Birthday to someone or another. The whole atmosphere was pretty cool though, everyone was happy and there was no drama. The nerd girl in me loved the fact that a certain Borderlands employee was there and commented on my Silent Hill shirt. Probably because in direct contrast to every other woman there, I was wearing a black gamer shirt and cargo pants. As opposed to mini skirts, sequins, and halter tops.

I've been here a few times, and every time I've had poor customer service. A group of friends and I went here once and told us they were closed, the sign said they didn't close for another hour. It seemed what they meant was it was closed to us, because they had a large group of friends at the bar still drinking. Tried this bar again, and stood at the bar for what seemed like forever because the bartenders where too busy chatting it up with their buddies to get me a drink. I guess if you're a regular you get treated fairly well, but if you're looking for a nice bar to just chill at every once and a while good luck getting a drink.

Seemed like a decent place for a little Karaoke fun. Went there to celebrate my sister's graduation. Ordered drinks from the bartender, then after drinks, we became very hungry. I didn't see a lot of food options in the bar, so I asked the bartender if I could order a couple pizzas and have them brought in (yes, it's that kind of place...) I figured it was alright to ask, as I saw some employees and other people arriving with outside food containers as well. The bartender told me adamantly THAT WAS NOT ALLOWED, so I decided to order food from the bar. There were menus on the table, and we ordered light bar fare, in the form of potato skins, quesadillas, etc. After waiting for an hour (for real, one hour), I went back to the bartender to check on our orders. He was irritated with me and responded with comments like, "We normally don't have food this late, so we had to things back on" followed by, "The food doesn't make itself, someone has to make it for you, it's just not back there waiting for you to order it!" If this is the case, why don't you remove the menus from the table to avoid confusion? At this point I was very frustrated about having to wait an hour for something that should really only take a few minutes to prepare, and zero flexibility to have some food brought in. In my upset, I decided to leave the bar. As my ride pulls up, the food came out. Wish I could have enjoyed it. I'm irritated that the bartender wasn't more empathetic, or willing to help comp a few drinks or do SOMETHING to ease the table's frustration. He chose to do nothing. I'm hoping the bar's management can speak to their staff about interacting with clients, and consider alternative food options if you're unwilling to make it an easy experience for the customer.

Eh... it's bar food. Nothing really special, unless you consider the cheesesticks which are just bought frozen. But they're my favorite in town (actually, Red Robin serves the exact same ones, so it's kind of a tie). If you eat there, don't get anything that comes with grilled onions. They use RED instead of a yellow or white, so it gives the food a really funky flavor. Also, they tend to use processed cheese product instead of the real stuff. Be prepared for that if you hate the stuff like I do. I usually order the crispy chicken bacon wrap. It's really good. Oh, and the lady that's always there Monday through Friday is super nice. Try it.

I'm reviewing this strictly as a bar, and not as a restaurant, because other than some chicken strips - I've never eaten here. So this place is fun. On a Friday and Saturday night it gets pretty packed - like, good luck finding a seat if you don't get there early on in the night - showing up at 11 is usually too late. It's great for groups, because they have some long tables. The thing this place is best known for is its karaoke. I believe they still do it 5-6 nights a week, but I usually only go on a Thursday - Saturday. They have karaoke books, so you can see the songs they have had forever, but they also have other newer songs, just ask the KJ to search for what you want and you might get lucky! If you are there to sing, get there early. Once it fills up it can be an hour or sometimes two hours if the KJ mixes up the slips before you sing again. This doesn't always happen, but it happens enough to where I usually move on to the next karaoke place once I see a stream of slips go up. They do rotate new singers in fairly quickly. KJ's can usually be bought - so tip if you want to sing faster. Plus, you should always tip a KJ something if you're enjoying your time. The bartenders can seem a little moody at times - and one of them is an owner, but if you go enough, aren't a jerk, and are friendly to them, they actually are pretty nice people! They deal with a lot of drama and are really busy, so for that, cut them a little slack if they don't smile from ear to ear when they serve you a drink. Plus, if you're there, you're probably there to sing and drink, not rate customer service.

I attended a bachelorette party over the weekend, and our group ended up at Liberty Spirit. I was pleased to see drink specials and karaoke. We arrived around 930pm, so there were not too many other patrons in the bar. Our group was able to get in a variety of karaoke songs which was awesome. I was HIGHLY DISPLEASED when I went to close my tab and see that I was DOUBLE charged for my drinks. I figured it had to be an honest mistake so I asked the bartender to tell me what was on my bill so we could figure out what went wrong. There were 2 bartenders working that night, and one of them was polite. The second bartender has ruined the image of this bar forever. Due to his AWFUL portrayal of customer service, I will NEVER return to this establishment again. He argued with me on the drinks that I consumed-apparently I wouldn't know what I had to drink . When I pressed him to fully explain the charges he aggressively replied "The difference is that I'm sober and you are drunk so you are not getting a price adjustment." If that is how an over weight, unattractive , middle aged bartender treats a group of ladies, I can only imagine what sort of "customer service" he offers to other patrons. I assume this is the same bar tender that Todd had reviewed 2 months ago. What is even more disappointing is the fact that the manager of the bar was outside as our group loudly complained about the incident and how poorly we were treated by the bartender-she said nothing at all. Apparently customer service is not the #1 priority for Liberty Spirit. I will NEVER step foot into this bar again. What a HORRIBLE impression this man left on the group. Don't let the cheap drink specials fool you- it is only a rouse to gain profit as they double charge you for every thing.

Given my penchant for karaoke dive bars, it's no surprise I like this place. The staff is friendly and does a good job, the song selection is reasonable (though not incredible), the food (if you're starving) is edible, and the karaoke dj is cheesy. Bad singers and good singers both get a good reception, and you'll hear a little bit of everything (with plenty of country in the mix). Prices are very reasonable too, even for Salem. You can take your drink outside with you if you want to grab a smoke too, due to their small patio area out front, and they even have an old-school cigarette machine in the back. I know, smoking is evil and dumb. But still. ;-)

I usually get lunch at this place when I'm working. The food is good enough for me to want to come back and get lunch there again. The pricing is pretty cheap and the staff there is really friendly.

This is a big bar with two pool tables, a few separate sections, and karaoke. The crowd is local and a little older. This is definitely not a bar you'd get "dressed up" to go out to. Jeans and t-shirt are definitely the norm (they don't necessarily need to be clean jeans and t-shirts if you want to fit in). The drinks are reasonably priced and the karaoke is very entertaining! Well worth a visit or two if you're not sure where to go.
