Came here with my Grandmother, Aunt, Uncle and Parents for my Mom's birthday. Everything was excellent. I got the Mexican Pizza and I really enjoyed it a lot. My father got the Nacho's and they were just like he likes. My mom ordered the Taco Salad which was ok, it had no dressing though. She ended up dumping the salsa that was on the table on it which she doesn't really care for their salsa. One thing I really like is this restaurant provides bean dip and salsa dip for their chips. I LOVE bean dips. It's a bit on the expensive side compared to other Mexican restaurants in town. But we had buy one get one coupons from the Entertainment book which made it reasonable.

Too bland. The waitresses are hot, however. A bit spendy.

Wow is all we can say! Took forever to get get seated and then to get our ice water. We finally got our food and both of our orders were wrong. We didn't see our waitress so we just ate the meal since we were so hungry from the long drive. When she finally came by again with our check we told her about the food mistake. She checked her ticket and said the cooks messed up, so she said she would give us a discount. I said thank you! We got $.20 off our bill! Food had no real taste. The mushrooms were from a can and not fresh. Come on!

I come here about twice a year, if It was closer to home I'd make extra trips! We had margaritas and margaronas (which is a margarita made with a corona). & we shared the "Sunrise Enchiladas". It was served to us promptly after we ordered. Smelling fresh and very warm. The portions are big and well worth the money. Its probably smart to share a meal, like we did :) Customer service is on point! Food was delicious! They also have coupons! So check your mailbox.

The ratings don't do this place justice. Most people had one bad experience and leave 1 star. I had an excellent experience. Granted this was my first experience as I'm just passing through but it gives signs of being a great restaurant overall. It was very clean and well lit. We were greeted immediately and taken to our seat with menues and asked what we wanted to drink. We were given chips and salsa to snack but also given a bean dip with it which was a nice unique touch. Our food came almost as soon as we ordered hot, smelling fresh and tasting delicious. The two waitresses worked together bringing our food and refilling our drinks and making sure we were okay. We got to-go boxes, because of the large portions, which she got for us promptly. To top it off our check came with a free little treat of a few sweet chips with a light syrup and whipped cream. A perfect taste light enough to eat on a full stomach. I know the difference between a 5-Star restaurant and a place right off the freeway but I'm giving it 5 stars because I have nothing bad to report and had a wonderful time with my family. After the experience I just had I highly recommend this restaurant to anyone looking at it.

I've been going to this restaurant for years. I generally stick with a couple of items, the shrimp mojo de aho and the asada burrito. Both are really excellent. My spouse usually gets the skirt steak and if you ask for it rare, yummy! Service is always very quick and friendly. The food is consistently good. This is my favorite mexican restaurant in town.

Not bad, but certainly not great. Salsa and bean dip appetizer were nice and decent price for a pretty large margarita. I ordered the arroz con pollo and it was okay but lacking in flavor. My wifes tostada was just a heap of cold flavorless lettuce, cheese, and tomatos on a chip. My kid's pollo tamale was okay but lacking any spice too. Prices were higher by a couple dollars than I typically expect for this type of mexican restaurant. Service was nice and responsive.

I've probably eaten at almost every single Mexican restaurant in Salem. I gotta say... this is my least favorite. We decided to stop in since we had somewhere to be in the area and have a quick dinner with the kids. We were seated promptly by the friendly staff. Took a little bit to take our order though. I won't comment on what my wife and kids ordered, only on my experience. They served refried beans with their chips and salsa. The beans seemed pretty watered down and had virtually no flavor whatsoever. The salsa was pretty onion heavy. I'm not a huge onion person but I do enjoy salsa. This just tasted like onion soup. I ordered the Enchiladas Suizas with pork. The refried beans were the same as the beans served with the chips, though maybe not as watered down. They were a little thicker and darker. The Spanish rice was pretty flavorless. In fact... the whole dish was completely flavorless. It was almost a strange out of body experience. I was clearly eating... but honestly if you blindfolded me I wouldn't be able to tell you exactly what I was eating. The verde sauce was completely flavorless. Neutral. Nothing. The Pork was completely flavorless. The only flavor I got was one piece was a little fatty. If scientists created a sentient race of robots who instead of enslaving mankind , decided to open a Mexican restaurant... this is the food they would churn out. Visually, it is passable. Flavor-wise, it tastes what I think the paste they fed Robocop would taste like. Now I can't say the food was bad. But I definitely can't say the food is good. I vote one star because I could have saved money by going home and eating some of those water soluble packing peanuts I have in my garage.

I wish at this point that I could give no stars. We've been coming here for 7 years and tonight was the worst. I decided to stay from my usual order of fajitas and got two enchiladas. One had baby shrimp in it which wasn't too bad. The other had crab. Sounds delicious right? Wrong! Worst thing I've ever had. Ever! The crab tasted fishy. Like overwhelmingly fishy. Nothing could doctor it up enough to tolerate. Not beans, not rice, not salsa. It was horrible. They messed up my boyfriend's order. And never brought me my drink refill. I am officially done going there. It used to be amazing. But has gone downhill significantly over the years. Very disappointed.

They serve nice warm tortilla chips with beans salsa and regular salsa. Pretty good. We ordered chicken fajitas - they were pretty darn good, only complaint was that it was lot of oil underneath. Good service. They gave free wonton dessert, which was pretty good as well.

Nothing special about the food especially not the prices! The waitress seem like she'd rather be some where else, which I think she was since it took her nearly half an hour to come take our order, and then another half hour just to serve us. Nothing really impressive about this restaurant. I'm not in a rush to come back anytime soon.

This was a tasty alternative. We were going to go to the Thai restaurant next door but we stood there and there was apparently no one working as the guy ahead of us was yelling into the kitchen with no results. Mexican food it was. This is kind of standard fare for the American version of Mexican food. Don't get me wrong I loved it and it certainly fit the bill on this day. I had a combination with a taco and an enchilada. All very tasty and many chips filled the basket on the table. The chips were served with salsa and bean dip as well. After dinner they brought the little dessert with the check which is normally covered with strawberry. I'm allergic so I declined. All in all very good and very good service. I'm such I'll be back if in the area again.

We hadn't visited here in a long time; sometime before yelp entered our lives. Several Pros: They serve lunch until 4pm Warm chips, salsa and beans are provided. WARM. Servers/hostesses/hosts/bartenders all very cheery and helpful Special boards are throughout the restaurant not just in the lobby. I had the chicken fajita taco salad. I read the menu blurb and decided that I would give it a go! Since they serve the lunch menu later than the normal place of eats. The menu said that the taco salad was served with cucumbers. Now cucumbers and I do not always get a long. They tend to have their flavor linger on for hours and hours, if you know what I mean. I decided that since most restaurants just throw a couple of token cucumbers on the top of salads I could easily employ the tried and true pick and flick method and did not ask for them to be held back. I was dead wrong! The chicken, sour cream, and guacamole were nestled on the top of the Northern style crispy tortilla shell. Then some lettuce. Underneath the initial layer of lettuce is an entire LAYER of cucumbers. Cucumbers galore! A cucumber fiesta! They were laid out much like pepperoni is on a pizza, around the edges overlapping so you get some in each bite. I had never seen such a cucumber party in a taco salad before! Since cukes don't really agree with my tummy I would have asked for them to be held had I know the propensity of cukes in this meal. The chicken was good, hot and juicy. Lettuce was standard shredded iceberg fare, and the guacamole and sour cream were served in perfect scoops on the tippy top. My other half ordered the Arroz con Pollo. He had never tried this dish before and was thinking outside the box. He really enjoyed it. His only criticism was that there were too many mushrooms in the sauce for his liking. I take full responsibility for the cucumber disaster. Next time I will have them held. My biggest criticism here was the chips. They were served promptly and warm. After were dug in and had eaten the top layer of standard chips, we discovered tortilla chip shrapnel. Clearly we got the chips from the bottom of the warming drawer and got all the crumbs and pieces leftover. The chips shards were not even dip-able in the beans or the salsa, just too small for dunking. A real bummer. We would go back and give lunch another try.

I feel like I need to knock down the five star average rating, so it's getting a one from me. After hearing my co-worker rave about this place (and admitting that she ate here TWICE last weekend) I decided to go. My friend and I both ordered the enchiladas suizas, and I ordered a beef tamale to go along with it. We both ordered black beans instead of getting the regular refried. The food was served quick, which is good, but it was a little TOO quick, if you know what I mean. At least hold off 8 minutes so I think you're putting some effort into it. Sheesh. All I can say is that the food was the most bland Mexican food I've ever had. Ever. No joke. The tomatillo sauce tasted like--literally--NOTHING. It was just wet. Mmmm. Is your mouth watering yet? I'm fairly certain the chicken was canned. It had that distinct canned flavor. The beans--Flavorless. Tasted like they opened a can of black beans, heated them, and served them. Yum. Tamale--had a slight flavor from the red sauce, but if I couldn't tell it was beef. The actual tamal part was quite firm and kinda dry. So, that's it. Terrible.

I got a verde burrito (as I like to try the verde anything at every Mexican restaurant for comparison), it came with pork (I think) and the green sauce had pork chunks or fat in it which really grossed me out, the pork chunks in the burrito were huge and seemed to be the only thing in the burrito. The black beans were served in a bowl with water, leading us to believe that they were canned and microwaved, yuck. They were absolutely flavorless. My bf got chicken fajitas, it came out looking great, but it was a very small portion for the price and his tortillas came out much later than the food. I work in the food service industry, so I know mistakes happen as a waitress... but he had to ask two waitresses for tortillas and by the time he got them, his food was cold. I don't know how anyone could have given this restaurant over 1 star. Sorry, but it was really terrible. My bf and I like to go out to eat a lot and favor Mexican and Thai food, we have experienced much better food in Salem and will not be back.

The English language is a vast and extremely useful collection of consonant and vowel sounds that can describe just about anything to the fullest. My lunch at Las Palomas needs every available concoction of negative phrases and sounds to fully annotate how truly awful it was. That would take far too long so instead of simply just listing bad words out of the dictionary I will provide what I consider to be accurate and illustrative metaphors. Their service was a crawling log jam, gridlocked LA traffic, so bad that I swear my watch was counting backwards. Their attention to detail was a pre schooler attempting to assemble a working Boeing 747 with directions in Swedish. We literally had food but no plates or silverware for a good 8 to 10 min. Also, my friend and I ordered the same thing, they only brought one and then proceeded to take about 15 min to bring the rest. I ordered the the chorizo burrito as did my friend. Our third ordered the mexican pizza. We all shared an appetizer platter. The chorizo did a better job of being poorly seasoned rubber than it did imitating good chorizo. My friend said that it was possibly the worst chorizo he has ever had. I trust him, he grew up in San Diego. Quote, "This burrito looks like the river Styxx." My other friend whom I consider to be a human garbage disposal wouldn't finish his. Him not finishing a meal is like a hyena turning down a side of beef. I tend to be a little wordy so if there is a way I can summarize and wrap this up in three words it would look like this: Flavorless, Frustrating, (insert f word here)

This is by far my favorite Mexican restaurant on either coast and in between. The have arroz con pollo down pat and have spoiled me for every other restaurant I have ever been daring enough to attempt their version. The staff is friendly and food is served promptly. We have yet to try a dish from their menu we did not enjoy. They have daily menu and drink specials. There is something on their menu for everyone.

Mexican Cuisine

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.

Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.
