Very consistent food. If you're craving greasy deep fried Chinese, this is the place to go! I always go for the combination plate. It's big enough to share with two people with medium appetites. I love the BBQ pork ^^

Such great service. We were able to create our own combo dinner. I am leaving full with left overs for a late night snack and lunch tomorrow. The service was the best I have received in a long time. Friendly, fast, and had great suggestions. The food was fresh and had a huge amount. I got some sweet and sour chicken and the meat was top quality. I will be visiting this place. They are very accommodating and serve great food with great service

I had potstickers and pork chow mein. Both lacked the ginger garlic flavors of Chinese cooking. Friendly fast service. In impressed by their cooking

Love this place! My favorite is hot and sour soup, places I've been to give you a small bowl but this is a very decent size bowl! I love all the food from here and the people are really nice too.

Decent little lunch place. Nothing fancy but Extra large portions and quick service. We had the lunch combo special with mandarin chicken, chow main and fried rice for $6.20 and there was definitely enough for two (unless you are really hungry).

Golden Crown is now part of our family's Yule tradition. This was such a hit the first year we had it that we've never had anything else since. Since there are six of us, we order six main dishes. That way we have enough leftovers to go around and even a bit to share with our furry friends - both canine & feline really love the BBQ pork... Keep up the great work!

Our family and some friends did a very large order takeout for Christmas Eve dinner. The food was still hot when we got home and the portions of sweet and sour chicken overfilled the boxes. Everything tasted great and we were enjoying leftovers the next day.

I like to support locally owned and operated businesses. Unfortunately this misses the mark. Egg flower soup is WAY too starchy (perhaps over-cooked). Could only order large bowl of hot and - that was delivered with meal and is still cooling down after eating meal. Entree pretty okay. There are other places with better food where you'll get what you order.

One of my favorite Chinese restaurants in Salem. Very friendly, fast and the food is awesome. They will let you make up your own combination plates and the price is very reasonable.. I have never had any bad service and they are always attentive at filling up your drink glasses.

Today I hit up the Golden Crown with a big group from work. The food was surprisingly fast and came out without anyone having to sit and wait for food while the rest of us ate. The portions are huge. Anything on the menu will feed two people. I walked away with a big lunch of leftovers for tomorrow. I had sweet and sour chicken because it is my standby Chinese dish, and I was thrilled to receive fruit and vegetables with my sauce (the absence of them is my main gripe about local Chinese food). So I got big chunks of white meat chicken with fluffy batter plus pineapple, green pepper, onion and tomato. Well played, Golden Crown. I think the only change I'd make next visit is to get the sauce on the side. They used a little too much, and I know my leftovers will be soggy with it tomorrow. Others in my party got war wonton soup, which comes in a bowl the size of a kitchen sink and contains a whole range of ingredients. As far as I could tell, it had golfball-size wontons plus every type of meat and seafood offered, plus celery and green onion. And maybe more. Basically, it was Chinese gumbo. On my other side there were two orders of garlic green bean stir fry (shrimp and chicken). They looked and smelled divine, but I didn't get a taste. The girl who served us looked about 12 years old, but was a good sport about taking all of our special orders and keeping track of who wanted what kind of rice or soup or noodles or substitution. Overall, I was really happy with the experience. I only wish they would deliver!

Very fast service and huge plates! For eight people, we each ordered a dish and we had TONS of leftovers. The tea is excellent. We ordered sweet & sour chicken and pork, bbq pork, general tso's chicken, beef & broccoli, chicken chow mein, kung pao chicken, and ginger beef, with fried rice and both egg rolls and pot stickers. Most were good...I wasn't a huge fan of the ginger beef or the general tso's, and there ratio of broccoli to beef was about 3 or 4:1 with huge pieces of broccoli and small pieces of beef. I'd eat there again...I wasn't thrilled but I found things I liked.

Golden Crown has always been my favorite place for Chinese food. I've been coming there for almost 30 years. The staff is always friendly. The manager even takes the time to help my 6 year old daughter learn how to use chopsticks. The egg flour soup is awesome, but you cant beat the crab puffs.... Best ever! Will always be back!

Beware! Don't eat here!!!!!! I just tried to have a meal at Golden Crown. Don't waste your money here!!!! The owner greeted my friend and myself as usual by name and we were seated. I ordered Bbq pork noodles with the pork cut thin as I always do. The server understood. My friend ordered chicken low mien and An order of egg foo young was also placed, with extra green onions. She failed to take the drink order with the rest, and abruptly left our table. We had to find the owner to get our drinks. The server brought our food and was rude!! She forgot the green onions and then when she brought them, she slammed them down on the table!! Didn't even have a second to say a word about the meal to her. My friends low mien was cold and my pork was THICK and noodles were soggy. She was nowhere to be found. We got up to tell the owner who is always so "nice" until something goes wrong. We told him what had happen & just wanted to leave and come back and try another time. The owner got upset at the thought of us not paying for the meal, that wasn't made to order in the first place! And demanded $4 for the two Pepsi's! Instead of being concerned that his customer wasn't happy, he became upset instead. We have witnessed him getting upset with a customer before when Golden Crown messed up their take out order. He was only thinking "in the now" and of the $20 he was loosing tonight. My warning to anyone considering eating here is a simple one: if THEY screw something up, The "nice" owner will turn on you on a dime ( literally over a dime)!!! And YOU will be expected to PAY. No matter how loyal a customer you may be!!! The owner is a massive tight wad, who just lost a ton of money!!!! I will never return to this dump! Just beware, the owner wears two faces!!!Beware!!! I was also here awhile back while the owner was on vacation and the entire staff was in the kitchen ( including the grouchy server) fighting, yelling, screaming and throwing pots and pans at each other! I managed to record the whole thing on my cell phone. We got up and left that time. There will not be a next time. This family is clearly unstable. A great place to steer clear from!!!k

My husband and I went here a few weeks ago as we have been looking for a good chinese restaurant in the Salem area. We found this place to have good food and good service. We ordered egg flower soup, sweet and sour chicken, ginger beef, and pork fried rice. The egg flower soup was amazing. The sweet and sour chicken had the perfect amount of batter and sauce. The ginger beef wasn't bad but a little overpowering, we probably wouldn't order that again. The fried rice wasn't too bad but not what we are used to as far as fried rice. We will go to Golden Crown again.

This has been our long standing favorite family go to Chinese American restaurant for over 20 years. You can always count on great food, delivered fast and hot. Absolutely everything is good on the menu and you get large portions. The best thing about this restaurant is that it is family run. The owner operator is Nghia and he is the most wonderful man. He always remembers his customers' orders down to the last detail. He takes special requests. He is kind to everyone. Of special note is the fact that our son with developmental disabilities has a hard time speaking, but is very good at eating. Nghia always spends time talking with him about his order and makes it special, just the way he likes it. Nghia's daughters are all old enough now to work in the restaurant, and they are all sweeties too. I highly recommend frequenting this restaurant when you want great Chinese food either to eat in or take out to go!

AWFUL SERVICE! THE MANAGER TREATED US LIKE THEY INTENTIONALLY WANT TO CLOSE THEIR DOORS AND GO OUT OF BUSINESS!!!! My family and I have been going to this restaurant for over 20 years. We will not be back. Tonight after a hard day's work my cousin and I drove into town (we live 15 miles out in the country). Initially we were going to go to Panda Express, instead we wanted a more "traditional" formal dining experience so I suggested Golden Crown. We arrived at 8:20 and at the door the manager said "you want takeout?" and we said no we would rather be seated. During our entire meal we were rushed and to-go boxes were practically forced on us. The meal was mediocre at best. Ten minutes before closing time the manager rudely yelled at us "SORRY GUYS, WE'RE CLOSED, YOU NEED TO LEAVE." I have never in all my years of dining out ever had anything remotely like this happen and I intend to file a complaint with the City of Salem for this business trying to close its doors on us before the actual closing time. Needless to say I will never return and will be letting as many friends and family know of my terrible experience.

Pretty good food with very fast service. The Wonton soup is really good. Skip the General Tso's chicken, it was very bland.

Not the most flavorful Chinese food I've had, but always good quality. I usually have a combination and have never been disappointed - I really should try something different! The service has always been really good - we've never left unhappy.

Chinese Cuisine

The popularity of Chinese food in America can be adjudicated by the appearance of China Town in many major cities in the United State of America. The popular trend of ordering or opting for Chinese take away food isn't unknown in America. Chinese take away food comes to rescue when you're too tired from work or too exhausted to cook. No one can resist the temptation of eating spicy noodles, shrimp, chicken, beef or pork cooked in the sweet and spicy sauce. The cooking method of authentic Chinese food is a lot different compared to what is served in America.

Generally, Chinese use dark meat small bones and organs to cook dishes but this changes when you are eating American-Chinese fusion food prepared using white boneless meat cooked with broccoli, carrots and onions. Back in China, the food is less spicy and oily as they favor steaming and braising method for cooking the most popular dishes. So, if you have a taste for authentic Chinese food, then try finding a real Chinese restaurant in the city. You can also try the most popular fusion Chinese food like Pecking Duck, Chicken Feet, Hot Pot, Shrimp Dumpling Soup, Mapo Tofu, Wontons, Chop Suey, Egg Rolls and not to forget Fortune Cookies.

There are not many restaurants in America serving authentic Chinese food. A little research on Restaurant Listings directory can help you locate the best Chinese restaurants in the city. Chinese cuisine is continuously evolving, and you can find a variety of dishes categorized as the food for lactose intolerant, gluten intolerant, vegan, vegetarian, and diabetic friendly. So, if you have a group of friends with different taste patterns, save the hassle and visit the nearest Chinese restaurant in your city.
