I was traveling and searched for Uzbek food and end up going there . First thing I seen on the top " Uzbekistan" middle eastern cuisine . I was kind of surprised because it's supposed to be Central Asian cuisine not middle eastern . Parking lot was empty and when we went inside only one customer were there. End up ordering Kabab and palav it was very delicious . But cheburek was too oily to eat . I order somsa to go and when I ate that , it was nothing close to authentic Uzbek somsa . Over all it wasn't bad but Uzbek food usually very delicious .

I hate to write a raving revue about this place because it is going to get crowded, but they deserve rave reviews. The people there made us feel as if we were truly guests in their home. The service was warm, friendly and attentive. We were started with a garlic-green onion (?) paste for spreading on bread, which was to die for. Wow! Really good. Dinner was pelmini and lamb kabobs. Uzbeks should know how to do lamb and these folks sure do. Mine could have been a little rarer but most folks do not like it that way so the kitchen played it safe. It was heavenly. The marinade was very tasty and and the carrot salad and other salad were good, too. All in all, a 10. The pelmini were good, really good. There is no reason not to be eating there now, except that they are closed on Friday afternoon. Get your butt out there and enjoy some really good eats cooked and served by some really nice people. People who make you gald you stopped for dinner. Do it! ;o)

The last time I had good Uzbek food was in Seoul South Korea. I know, you are probably thinking that's crazy but there is a large Central Asian community there and they have some of the best Central Asian food I have ever had outside of Central Asia. So I have been looking for a Uzbek or Kazakh restaurant and when I found this place I was so happy and could not wait to try it. I live in Seattle and we have nothing like this place that I know of so I was so excited to eat here. I brought a friend who knew nothing about Uzbekistan so I was happy that they had some information about the country in the menu. I liked some of the decorations in the interior and felt they brought this old fast food restaurant to life. For appetizers we had the Samsa puff pastry which was very tasty. The Kebob was great and you could taste the spices. The color of the rice and taste was a little off and I thought it was odd that they served it with American BBQ sauce. The tea was good and I liked the fresh mint in it. This restaurant is unique and I will be back next time I am in Portland.

The food was great, especially the lamb. The employee's nice people speak perfectly in Russian. Overall the place was great, maybe because we were the only customers in that time, but I wouldn't say that if it was crowded it will be worst, the place is a must try. For first timers I would recommend to try the uzbek plov and lamb.

My wife and I ordered the samsa appetizer, cup of lugman soup, manti, lamb shish kabob, and baklava. The baklava was average, but everything else was excellent. The samsa puff pastry was crispy and very good, with sesame seeds, and the cumin-flavored meat was delicious. The manti was very unique, compared with pelmeni, which I'd had before...much bigger, the dough was moister inside. The beef/lamb combo was awesome, and the dough pockets were served in butter, with a vinegar-like soy sauce to put on top. Yum, yum, yum! And the lamb shish kabobs were amazing. Very rich marinade, and smokey, flame-cooked flavor, delivered on 1.5 foot long kabobs. Overall, big portions. And I forgot the soup. Delicious. I couldn't tell which bites I enjoyed more, the veggies, the broth itself, the tender meat, or the long, thick, wide noodles. Definitely worth the 40 minute drive from downtown, and I will be returning with guests in tow.

The food is amazing! Homemade, fresh spices, fantastic carrot salad and huge dumplings. Highly recommend trying and don't get scared off if you walk in and are the first customers. We were and it was our first visit, and it was good that we stayed because we beat the dinner rush.

I used to ADORE this place! Would go all the time for lunch, at least twice a week...then they changed how they were making their vernicci. I asked the nice guy who works there and he said they started using a machine instead of by hand. Unfortunately, when they use the machine the dough is thicker which changes everything I and my coworkers loved about them. Until they change them back I won't/can't go there again, despite their amazing carrot salad--which is freaking awesome. Please change the vernicci, ie potato perogies back to the way they were.

My boyfriend and I tried this out last week. We were not disappointed, that is for sure. We ordered the appetizers Samsa, cheburek, and this mushroom spread with bread. All were so mouth watering delicious. We tried the Borshct soup. That was amazing. For our entrees, we had Uzbek Plov (rice with vegetables and meat) and Manti (dumplings). Also very very good. The service was also wonderful. There were two of them and they were on top of everything as well as very friendly. I have only two complaints. The first is that I didn't have any room for the desserts that looked as good as everything else. The second was that I was full and couldn't just keep eating forever! ; ) I highly recommend this place. Looking forward to going back sometime.

Beef kebabs were on point. Super yummy and really well trimmed and tender. Tasted fantastic especially with the pilaf. Only complaint was the the sides were a bit cold and beverages were a little warm. Probably get it to go next time. The staff was very friendly and attentive. Despite the location seeming a little odd, the place was nice and we were taken care of very well!

Lovely! We ordered both of the$6.50 lunch specials and they were both quite good. My friend who had lived in Estonia said they were just like he had in Russian restaurants there. The mushroom granite was garlicky and wonderful. The service was good, friendly and happy to see us. All this and free wi-fi.

Awesome example of the Muslim and central Asian influence that was isolated to develop independently while it was part of the Soviet Union. Menu was obviously translated so it can be sometimes hard to decipher. Worth the effort to drive out to. Wonderful unique food. Ask your server what to order

Humble Uzbekistan restaurant hiding out in an old Wendy's building, this place is a gem! My wife and I were looking for someplace different to try something a little exciting and we were in the mood for dumplings. This place did not fail! We went in for lunch and found they had a really awesome lunch specials. Since this was our first time there we wanted to give them a really good test so we tried an appetizer and we tried their soup. The appetizer was a Samsa which is a pastry stuff with beef and lamb and chopped onions. Yummy. Not in a pastry dough like you might expect, but rather a bready dough covered in sesame seeds. This appears to be the same though that they used to make their house housemade complementary bread which also delicious. We also had their nonvegetarian Borsch which was incredible. Beef red bell peppers potatoes carrots Yum yummy Yum yummy Yum. Finishing our appetizers we went to our lunch specials. My wife had the Vareniki and I had the Pelmeni. These were large plates of dumplings her's stuffed with potatoes and onions and mine stuffed with seasoned ground beef and onions both were incredibly good and came with a spicy carrot salad and a pot of mint tea. We then played mix-and-match train each other's dumplings. Portion sizes were large, food quality was excellent. The lunch special was a real bargain. I also had a Russian beer with lunch, which was a 20 ounce 8% Baltika 9 for $4.50, which was really nice. I'll be back. I will bring friends. This will end up on our regulars list I am certain. Do yourself a favor and give it a try!

Having lived in Uzbekistan for 2 years, I was curious to try the Uzbekistan Restaurant and traveled several miles out of my way to give it a try. I was not disappointed. Although the restaurant itself is a simple causal affair, it was certainly a level above anywhere I ever ate in Tashkent. The food was authentic and delicious. The lamb kebabs were perfectly spiced and very tender. The beef pelmeni (one of my favorites) were cooked just right with the dumpling firm and the inside hot and tasty. We also had the spicy carrot salad which combined the sweetness of the fresh carrots with garlicy spice just like I remembered. The meat samsa as an appetizer was more doughy than I expected but the meat and onion filling were seasoned to perfection. The Georgian red wine was a bit sweet for my taste but the Baltica beer was a great accompaniment with the spice of the meat and the carrot salad. Service was friendly and efficient (although the restaurant wasn't crowded). Order in English or Russian, your choice. And ... for $40, dinner for two (with beer and wine) was an excellent bargain. We'll gladly go out of your way to come back again.

Went here several times. Parents were impressed with portions and pricing. The kabobs are good. A little shabby place that seems to be placed in a ghetto neighborhood but thats beside the point. Overall good food if youre into Mediterranean like food. Its too oily for my liking (the soup)

The food is amazing and the service is great. We had lamb shish kebab and pelov which were one of the best I've ever had. Also I loved their mushroom paste and tea. In general, every thing was great and I had one of my best experiences there. I would recommend this restaurant to my friends too.

This place is phenomenal - long has Portland needed a good Russian/Central Asian restaurant. The set up is great, everything is super authentic, and the owners are renowned throughout the Russian community in Portland as some of the best cooks of all the Uzbek folk. I enjoyed the food very much - the vegetarian borscht, vareniki and kvas are my favorite.
