Thai Lily is a pleasant strip mall restaurant with a really clever name. You're not likely to forget a restaurant with a name like Thai Lily. However, Thai Lily Restaurant has generated more than one controversial review on Yelp. Being a reviewer who thrives on controversy and reconciliation I've been dying to give Thai Lily a try. Well, I certainly was not disappointed on my first visit. Thai Lily is a very comfortable and elegant restaurant. The walls are decorated with paintings of women in traditional Thai garments and elephants. Soft music plays in the background. All this comes together to get you into the mood for a feast from Thailand. The menu includes traditional Thai dishes like Pad Thai, Pad See Ew, noodles, curries, and soups. Many of the entrees are below $10 and include boiled rice. The lunch specials are about $2 less than the dinner entrees. If you have an unadventurous diner in your group then Thai Lily offers things like Chicken Chow Mein and Orange Chicken. One of the great things about the menu at Thai Lily is that it is completely flexible and customizable. Diners have the choice of going completely vegetarian. If it's meat you want then Thai Lily gives you your own choice of meats. Thai Lily also has about four levels of heat which allows patrons to customize the degree of spiciness. In addition to the regular menu Thai Lily offers "specials." On my visit the specials included things like Ginger Halibut, Crab Fried Rice, and Salmon Curry. However, the specials seemed higher than the regular menu. The Ginger Halibut was going for $16.50. On my visit I sampled the Lemon Grass Chicken. This consisted of chicken breast marinated in lemon grass. The Lemon Grass Chicken was topped with peanut sauce, vegetables, and chopped peanuts. An absolutely delicious and well plated dish. One of these days I want to find a Thai or Vietnamese chef who can teach me how to marinate in lemon grass. What a wonderful flavor it imparts to meat. My service for the evening was hyper but friendly. My server kept trying to take away my Singha beer. Consider myself to be a mild mannered person but goodness sakes don't' take my Singha from me! On my visit to Thai Lily Restaurant they were doing a very brisk business in take out orders. Suppose everyone generates some controversy in their lives. My experience with Thai Lily Restaurant was very positive. Thai Lily Restaurant deserves a second look for anyone seeking quality and adventurous Thai cooking.

This place never disappoints. I've been going for a couple years with work friends at lunch and have tried many dishes. Evil Jungle Noodles can't be stopped. All curries. Pad Se Ew. Kao Soi. You name it. Friendly service and good food.

Last week I tried it out for the first time. Im a big fan of pad see eiw. It was ok but probably wouldnt go here for that anymore and may try other stuff. The noodles were good, beef was ok, fresh veggies and also some nice bean sprout on the side too. It just didnt have that Thai flavor I was craving and the spice level wasnt where I wanted it to be. I ordered medium but didnt taste any spice. Overall, it was ok. I would go back to try other things but maybe not this particular dish. Im just in the search for good pad see eiw! ha! Happy Eating!

I have now eaten in and taken food home to my family, so I feel able to review. I wasn't compelled to sit down and type a fabulous review, or a terrible tirade on how bad it was. The service and the man at the register were nice enough. The food was hot, the vegetables seemed fresh, but overall I think it's pretty mediocre thai food. It's lacking flavor somewhat, and definitely lacked heat in the curry we ordered medium. My daughter's chicken satay was not grilled, not lemongrassy, and not delicious ( she wants you to know she prefers Siam Thai's satay, so there you go). I don't think we will go back here. We like Zab Thai when we are willing to go further afield, and Siam Thai when we're picking up near our house.

The owner is such a cute little old Asian man. The food is delicious and the customer service is friendly! I was surprised to see so many customers here on the grand re opening. I've never been to the old restaurant before so I can't provide a comparison but it's current location is nicely decorated and roomy.

Went here for a late celebration of my birthday with dear friends. I had no idea I had reviewed it before when they picked up 'to go' for a dinner at home. Well. I wouldn't have know it was the same place. Everyone in our party was super satisfied with his/her meal. Tom Yum soup: she loves soup but rarely finishes when she eats out. Empty bowl! Thai LIly Style Garlic Shrimp: nothing but shrimp skins left on the platter! Yellow curry with tofu: no left overs for this gal. I had the green curry-vegetarian with tofu please hold the green bell peppers. What I got was exquisite. The sweetness of pumpkin squash parried with the heat of the curry (the red peppers were present to attest to their power) and each veggie in the sauce has its distinct flavor. Apparently they've undergone a change-perhaps in management, certainly in cooks. Hats off to turning things around. Of course I have to revisit the next time I am in that faraway part of town. Consistency is critical.

Tried take out while my family was in town. I was very disappointed for the price we paid. Food was bland, 95% vegetables and took 35 minutes prepare with no one in front of us. The only reason I did not give them 1 star is because my sister is a vegetarian and enjoyed her vegies.

The Pad Kee Mao was spectacular and the attention and friendly customer service was second to none. The wait for the food wasn't long and being seated was quick! I would also say the restaurant is family friendly because there's lot of space when sitting in the booths and a HDTV to keep them occupied if need be. I definitely recommend this place and will surely be back!

This is a great little Thai restaurant. It has a nice relaxed ambiance even when it's busy. The owners are great and always greet me with a smile. I'm not sure what's up with the negative reviews here. I eat at the restaurant a couple times a week and have never had a bad experience. I think it has the best tasting dishes around. I've eaten at several other Thai places around Beaverton and Portland and this is the best of them.

As Nobokov would say, "Light of my life, fire of my loins, ...the tip of my tongue taking a trip of three steps down the palate to tap, at three, on the teeth....TH...THA....THAI." Delicious Thai. The Tom Kha was one of the best made soups I ever had in Thai restaurants. Even my non-Tom-Kha-eating friend fell in love with it and almost devoured mine. All the other dishes (Evil Jungle Noodle, Red Curry, and some other yummy dish that escapes me) were equally outstanding. The service was fast and friendly and the restaurant is clean with a modern decor. 4 dishes with plenty of left overs for 35 bucks. Sweet!

Fortunately for me, my visits to Thai Lily had always been pleasant. Our server was friendly and attentive, and the food (yellow curry and pad thai noodles) was just the right amount and most importantly, well flavored. The decor and ambiance is what you would expect from a strip mall Thai restaurant. For the price and quality, this place is definitely a good stop.

OK, when your restaurant is struggling from poor reviews, don't be rude to the customers you do get. My partner ordered some food while I ran across the street for a quick errand at the grocery store. When I came back, she told me how rude the man working at Thai Lily was. Apparently, she tried to get some food at around 4:30 in the afternoon, and the place was closed. The door was locked, but the hours on the door said they were open and the flashing neon sign said they were open. As soon as she caught the attention of the employee, he opened the door and made her feel bad about wanting to order food. He shouted at her they were closed. Next time, tape a piece of paper on the door with updated hours and maybe turn off the open sign. As for the food, mine wasn't too terrible. But, my partner tried her food, and it was pretty brutal. I tasted it and agreed. I would have rated my dish around 3 stars, but so many other things went wrong.

We've eaten here quite a few times over the years. Halfway decent food with OK (and sometimes lousy) service. Rolled in here this afternoon for an early dinner. No one was at reception so we waited a minute. A man comes out of the restroom to seat us. Before we're seated, we decide we want to use restroom and wash our hands. The seat was down on the toilet and there was piss all over the seat. That was bad enough. Then I noticed the sink was bone dry. Dude didn't have the decency to wash his hands. And now he wants to serve us? Enough said. Won't be back.

Although I love to order my beloved Pad Kee Mao from Thai Village in Wilsonville (the place I consider the best for Pad Kee Mao in the area), Thai Lily is literally a few blocks from where I live. Staff is friendly and the restaurant is very clean with simple decor (but very nice, nonetheless). Food was tasty, but like other establishments - and I'm sure the economy has a lot to do with it - there isn't enough beef. Now, I don't eat meat a lot (about twice a week), but I expected a little more than was actually in the dish. Noodles are good and spiciness was perfect.

I lived in Thailand for a year and this is a great restaurant! They make regional dishes that are even rare IN Thailand! The food is as close to "real Thai" as it comes. Consistently good.

If you want to eat here be prepared for an extremely long wait. It took forever for our orders to be taken and even longer for our food to arrive. Nearly an hour overall! The food was just alright and the portions were small. Honestly not very worth it unless you don't want to drive far, want Thai food, and are not super hungry.

Crab Fried Rice: Felt like there wasn't much crab in it... however liked the way they wrapped omlette around the rice. Basil Chicken fried rice: My wife liked it, i did not like it as much. Good service.

The food was awesome, I had ordered Red Curry 2 with chicken, wife Green curry tofu, son, lemon grass chicken and his friend Pad Thai. All savored the food

Although I live in the Portland area, I make the commute out to Beaverton for their green curry and pad kee mao. No other Thai restaurant compares.

Don't be afraid if the dining area is empty 80% of their business must be take out. The food is awesome my wife and I hit it up at least once a week. Everything we have had is great even the lemongrass beef salad. But we tend to stick with salad rolls and pad see ew or pad kee moa. Not sure that's spelled right but the food is great and the staff is accommodating to menu substitutions. Plus the Thai iced tea is great a little more herbal than in used to and I like that.

Best, most well-developed thai flavors I think I've ever had. The broth in their noodles soup is satisfying and so fragrant with fresh, seasonal veggies (not just a pho knock-off). I will crave this from, unfortunately, clear across town.

Service was super rushed, which was weird, because there were a number of other tables. But the server kept reminding me they closed in 30 minutes. Ok, thanks. Got it. I had the basil chicken, which was tasty, if greasy. I was ravenous, so devoured it more than savored it. Spiciness definitely helped warm me up on a cold and rainy night.

Service was SLOW. Serving sizes are very small from what I'm used to at other Thai restaurants at this price. The food itself tasted pretty good. Luckily, there are many choices for Thai restaurants in this area.

We love Thai and have eaten at every Thai place in Beaverton and Hillsboro and at least six in Portland. This is our hands down favorite. We have been here more than thirty times over the many (7?) years. We do both eat in and carry out. Our first visit we decided the tom yum soup, spring rolls and pad thai were, hands down, the best in taste, quality and portion. Then we got our bill and couldn't believe how much less we were paying than other "fancy" Thai restaurants in the area. Over the years things here have changed a few times. Normally that means a good place goes downhill, not the case here. We have been surprised, at least twice, at how things went from not lacking a thing to a more beautiful presentation or a better experience. We enjoy two salads in particular: Tom Sum (raw papaya) and Larb (meat, mint and lime juice). Since they closed while the new drug store was going in I have only been back about four times. All of them were for lunch, unusual for me and Thai. I think a homemade, fresh plum dipping sauce and pandan leaf (in any dish or dessert) would bring me running back more frequently, again.

This was our go to place for lunch but no more. The lunch menu used to include a small salad which has been eliminated. The serving size has been almost cut in half. The service has always been terrible but we were willing to put up with that because the food was so good. I would rather have paid more than lose the salad and see the portion reduced.

If I could give this zero stars I would. Food is fine, nothing remarkable. But the negative review is for how long we had to wait for our food. Over an hour for 3 entrees and the place was empty. When we complained the waiter said "fish takes longer to cook, it's not like a hamburger". Hate to break it to you but I worked in restaurants for a decade. A filet of salmon takes 10 mins tops. Rude service and smart ass response was unnecesaary. Just apologize for wasting our time. Also why would you call a dish Lemon Grass Chicken and then drown it in peanut sauce? Never seen that before.

The pad thai was delicious! I got incredibly full after eating half my plate. Service was ok though we had to ask for our check and boxes to go although we were the only one in the resteraunt.

Second visit, both times to go, love it! The owners are so nice and willing to make what you want how you want it! Will keep coming back!

TERRIBLE. The water that was served in the decorative blue glasses tasted like it came from Lake Mead. The Thai iced coffee had too much sugar. We ordered and the food took more than 30 minutes. The spicy seafood soup had barely any seafood... Mostly mushrooms. This is not the typical tom yum soup.. Not enough lemongrass. The Thai Barbeque chicken was all dark meat and the sauce was too salty. Although, the ambience and room decor was very appealing to the eye. If I could have given them a negative star, I definitely would have given them negative two stars. Definitely not coming back.

Just had lunch here for the first (and last) time. Ordered chicken yellow curry and Bbq chicken with salad. Curry had a few small pieces of chicken and carrots, the rest was all potatoes. This seems to be a trick of some Thai restaurants....give more of the cheaper ingredients and people will still feel full. Bad plan. Salad that came with meal was lame. All iceberg lettuce with little extras. Not worth what we paid!

Hands down best Thai food I've ever had! The service and overall dining experience was great as well but that pad se ew.. Too good for words! Definitely my new favorite spot to cure my thai food cravings.

This is my favorite Thai restaurant in the greater Portland area. I can't get enough of their Pineapple Fried Rice...Yum! The environment inside the restaurant is well-decorated even though they are located in a strip mall. They recently located to a larger location a few shops over in the same building. I have not been there since the move but I am anxiously awaiting their reopening. They also offer takeout.

Authentic type feel to this restaurant. I usually only go for take out so this is a review for that. This is my go to place for Pad Kee Mao. The noodles are always cooked right and you get a good amount of beef in the dish. It is about $10 which is just about average. Been going here for the last 5-6 yrs just for this dish. It is legit.

This is my favorite Thai restaurant ever! I was sad when they had to close for a bit to relocate but theyre finally back in business. I have been to other places and none of them can top Thai Lily. I'm never disappointed, staff is great, the decorations are not over the top, and they make good food. My favorites are the pad kee mao, green curry, and beef salad. I always start my meal off with thai iced tea.

I've had this place tons of times. The service isn't great, but the food is amazing. But sometimes they lie about what is available....I always get the Sum Tum Salad. It's to die for, but if u call and ask if they have it they say yes, then u get there and they say they've been out for weeks....hummm. but the other food makes up for it!

A mid sized restaurant in tne cedar mills area of washington county. Located across from the safeway shopping center on cornell and murray roads. I was starving to death one day as i was driving through the area and somehow noticed the really small sign for a thai restaurant along the road. I'm always looking for good thai food and sometimes i think i have a sixth sense for finding them. The owner happened to be there that day and was real friendly and talkative. I ordered a medium spicy green curry chicken dish and got it in no time at all. It was very good and spicy. The quantity of food was average and the cost of $6.95 was fair. They got an 82 out of 100 at their last health inspection on 10/28/08.

After eating at my regular Thai place two times in two weeks, I thought I should experiment with another place. Stupid idea. Thai Lily is quite disappointing. I thought I had ordered Pad Kee Mao. Instead, I got huge chunks of egg shell mixed in with wide flat noodles and some chicken and sprouts. The lunch portion is not worth the $6 you pay. My old place is $6.50 but you get a mountain of food, enough for two meals. It's been a day but I can still hear -- and almost feel -- the crunching of the egg shells between my teeth. Never, ever again.
