I have eaten here like 25 times and I have only gotten the carne asada burrito. Its that good! Try no rice or beans with gucamole, sour cream, and cheese.

Ordered the #5 (two beef - shreded - tacos). Meh. The taco shells were small, hard and chewy stale; very inconsistent. We were stopping for the kids, and thought to try something quick. Not again.

I ordered the Carne asada fries. They ask if I wanted fries or tater tots I said no. I get home and they were on the tots. I have never heard of this before. Well I ate them and they were great. The hot sauce has a nice kick as well.

Open late and they conveniently have a drive through. Why go to Taco Bell? They make a traditional chile relleno! I'm a sucker for their hard shell gringo tacos! Better than Taco Bell, and probably the same price!

As a vegetarian always on the lookout for affordable options, I was thrilled to find a Mexican place that was vastly superior to similarly priced places in town and most importantly - open all night! They are very willing to accept special orders and substitutes; so I usually get a breakfast burrito and replace the meat with black beans...the result is a favorite late-night indlugence: Eggs, potatoes (not french fries or tater tots, which they also can put in), cheese, and black beans with their homemade hot sauce. Perfect, and the "giant" size version is less than $4. Even better. My wife usually gets the vegetarian burrito and adds potatoes (we're spoiled by San Diego mexican food, which has potato versions of pretty much every option), which makes a behemoth burrito. Definitely check them out, and know that for a late-night option that tastes good in SE PDX, you have another option to consider!

Expensive for what it is and pretty damned gross. But still, they were open at 3am, so that certainly helps. Fish tacos were gnarly, not sure why I'd even try ordering them from a spot like this. Oh well, you live you learn!

After picking my brother up from the airport we wanted something other than Taco Bell or Taco Time but still Mexican drive-through so we thought we would try this place out. When we rolled up to the menu where you ordered we took one look at it and thought the same thing, expensive and that it could not be good, but we felt bad and ordered two bean and cheese burritos. Much to our dismay they were amazing. The tortillas were fresh and delightful, the beans were NOT Rosarita refries, which so many places use, and the salsa that comes on the side was tasty and spicy. I cannot give it five stars due the the fact that I only tried one item from the menu. I look forward to eating here again.

It's midnight, you've just gotten out of the gym and you want fast food Mexican. TacoHell sounds repulsive and everything else is closed. Cooking is not an option at this time. I'd passed Tecos a number of time, but the exterior that used to be an Arby's (I think?) is a bit dilapidated. Feeling brave and adventurous, I stopped and ordered a half order of chicken nachos and flan. Look past the exterior, you fools! The nachos came with salsa, beans, guac, sour cream, cheese, and habanero salsa (by request). The chips were crispy and a twinge salty. The guacamole was thin but well seasoned. The cheese did not overwhelm the nachos with a coronary of cheddar. I like spicy things to go in my yum cave, so I wouldn't rate the habanero salsa as super hot. It was a combination of spicy and sweet, even. The flan was enough for two, but that didn't stop me. It was creamy and there was plenty of caramelized sauce to go with it.

Not near as good as Super Torta or Los Gorditos but an OK late night Mexican food fix.

fair prices, nice staff, and seriously good food. this would explain why I'm up there at least a couple times a week. :)

It's open late, that's what it's got going for it. Food was okay, I guess. Nothing spectacular. Drive-through is a weird setup. Pico de gallo was too oniony and dry. Tacos were blase: hard shell, non-melted cheese and lackluster meat. I ordered chicken but compare these closely with the JITB $1/2 beef hard tacos. Nothing special.

I had their chicken taco for the Monday deal for 4.45 with beans and rice. They have a different meal special for everyday of the week. You seriously can't beat the price on that. Very good and super filling. Defiantly will be coming back. Oh and they serve Jarritos!!

The price is right and they are open LATE and much better late night food than Taco Bell down the street. Not too many places are up late with a drive through. This is our go-to late night food. We load up on the tacos. It's real cheap to feed a big crew.

Went for dinner with a friend. We were the only customers there...that should have been a hint. Food was so-so and the cost was too high for the quality. Won't be going back, unless I'm stupidly drunk.

I've been trying lots of different taco places lately and today I went to check out Tecos for the first time. I always "automatically" get carnitas and al pastor tacos at all the taquerias I go to because that's what I like, so when I saw that Tecos doesn't have al pastor on their menu, I was momentarily stunned and indecisive. I finally decided to go a whole different route altogether and order today's "Daily Special" meal. Being Thursday, today's special was two chicken enchiladas with rice and beans and a soft drink, all for only $5.99. Everything was fresh tasting and pretty good. (I would have really liked some gooey melted cheese on the enchiladas, but that's just me.) This Daily Special was definitely worth the price. Tecos differs from other taquerias I've been to because they have an "over 21 only" corner with video gaming machines. Pretty smart to have an additional revenue stream for the business, as well as a way to attract a certain demographic of customers. As for myself, I'd go there for the inexpensive food rather than the video gaming.

I'm bummed we've lived practically next door for the last three years and just tried it the other day. Eaten it twice in the last week and it's super good! The only bummer is the green salsa has little flavor. Mmmmburritos.

  • Gracie C.

The food is GREAT but the meal took FOREVER to get to me. I would recommend trying this place but be patient. I ordered the breakfast burrito (even though it was lunch). They come in two sizes.

Got two Carne Asada tacos (with guac) combo. Some of the best tacos I've had for cheap!!

1 of my favorite drive through places in the South East. I recommend the chimichangas and nacho fries plus the salsa rojo is pretty close as to authentic mexican style taco trucks.

Best coming-home-from-the-bar food in SE. The carne asada tater tots are AMAZING, the beef is seasoned excellently, though sometimes it can be on the dry side. The adobada is seasoned excellently and the chile rellenos are cheap and huge. I wish they'd open a location in SW so I didn't have to drive so far when I get a craving for some decent, fast, and not overpriced Mexican food.

Holy moly! I went on a Tecos rampage ever since I found out about this place!! I'm talking about 6-7 check ins in the past two weeks! I've had their tacos, burritos, nachos, tortas and tried few specialty items. All were bien but I wouldn't say it was amazing. Don't order the special of the day because they give you a tiny cup for your drink and with it includes rice and beans. The orange rice isn't very good and the texture of the beans is like paste. I honestly don't know what I like about Tecos... Yo no se! But I'm definitely not going back to Taco Bell! I wish they had beer!

Whenever I pass by Tecos, I can't help but think of it as a Muchas Gracias gone rogue - a late night Mexican fast food staple that decided to separate itself from the chain that rules the Northwest and offer virtually the same menu at the same uber cheapo prices. Anyone driving along Powell past midnight looking for a serious gut bomb, will find one at Tecos. The restaurant may remain empty most of the time, but their (incredibly narrow) drive thru may or may not be sporting a line. Folks might snicker at the menu which contains random misspellings and some ghetto tape + paper to indicate new pricing, but I adore its casual approach to current announcements. After all, reposting a new menu to announce ground beef and carne asada nachos deals is certainly way too expensive. Just a marker, some tape and a paper will do. If there is anything you like at Muchas Gracias, feel free to order it here. For me, it's the Oregon Burrito, a nice spicy wrap of potatoes, carne asada chopped with salsa and some egg. A little added chorizo goes a long way (#1) and don't forget to get some quality salsa on top of it. Their carnitas platter is also worthy of mention, but it is a meal best enjoyed while sitting down at a table. Service is pleasant and everything is made to order. Before you go whining about why "fast food" is taking so long, just remember the food that is being prepped in all of its greasy, unappetizing presentation, was cooked with lots of late night love. _______ (#1) Sure, that's what she said. Especially at 4am.

this place does exactly what it intends to do, and does it well. here are the key points: - open late (4am! they solved my late night fast food need. awesome) - cheap mexican food thats good. not fancy, but just what you expect for $5/burrito - employees are friendly. - seems to not have a lot of traffic, so getting food is quick overall, ideal for those late night munchies or really anytime. good deal and good food!

Drunk walk at 1:30am; feeling a little hungry. Let's try this Teco's place. 10min later we were in our way to stuffing our face with awesome late night mexican food. The Carne Asada taco was on point. The meat wasn't over cooked or dry, just right. Carne asada tater tots were amazing. I have no clue why I've never seen this at any other late night taqueria. It's perfect drunk food. We also ordered the adobado torta and that to was awesomeness. The bread was perfectly soft and the meat was seasoned and cooked well. No complaints here. I'll definitely be back.

Had a giant carne asada burrito.... It was good, the price was excellent, and the only thing that kept me from giving it 5 stars is because the salsa was not the best. I'll eat here again due to an under 5 dollar burrito and a convenient drive thru.

  • Kal C.

Seriously cheap eats. I DON'T recommend the salads. They're no bueno. But everything else is okay. The reason I usually eat here is because of this very sequence of events: "Shit. What time is it? 8:00?!" "I need to eat NOW." "Well, I didn't take anything out of the freezer, and fuck it anyway. I'm lazy." "Fine. What do you want to eat? What's fast and easy?" "Tecos." "Okay, let's do it. I'm going to regret this later, but let's do it." And then somehow a fish burrito ends up in my mouth. And I enjoy every minute of it.

Tecos is a good late-night option if you are craving drive through that is more authentic than the other nearby Americanized fast food chains. Everything i have had here has been very tasty but also very greasy. Not healthy by any stretch of the imagination, but exactly what you are looking for after you have gotten a bit tipsy. Their food appears expensive, but the portions are very generous. The Tecos burrito is a drunk's dream, full of potatoes, beef, onions, peppers and cheese. The Chile Rellenos burrito is a delicious, greasy hot mess. Their flan is exactly like any other cheap Mexican place...predictable, but inexpensive and awesome. The only thing keeping me from rating them 4 stars is that on several occasions their beef and steak items have had a noticeable amount of gristle and cartilage in them. It hasn't been often enough for me to stop going, but it does seem to happen with some regularity.

This place was dead which should have been the first clue it wasn't good. The food wasn't horrible but not what I had in mind.

Let's get down to it. Tecos is darn tasty. The steak tater tots is friekin awesome. It is a tad pricey, but not by much. And for the amount of food you get, its worth it. The above mentioned fed me full for two days. Is it the best mex in town. No. Is it good if you are hungry and nearby, definitely. Nice people too. Now chomp!

Me and the boys usually come here late night after partying for some cheap, filling grub. They have a 5 tacos for $3 deal! You really can't beat that. If you don't eat it right away, the tacos will get soggy from all the oil in the meat. I've seen a few people get things other than the tacos, but in my opinion its not worth it. This is all about the cheap eat

It was after a Blazer game the first time we tried Tecos. The Taco Bell drive-thru was lined up with fans claiming their free chalupas. We were too lazy to park & go in so we drove a few blocks down. With "wanna try it?" glances at each other & at Tecos, we were in the drive-thru seconds later. The menu has the typical combos, burritos, hard shell tacos, chimichangas & salads along with a few choices for the kiddos. We tried their vegetarian burrito; it was heavy with pinto beans & rice. The rest of the ingredients were the normal toppings of a hard shell taco but not evenly spread out. I'd prefer not to eat each topping on its own. If I did, I'd go to Pita Pit & who likes that place? The drive-thru is nice & quick but when it's busy (more than two cars) the attention to detail lacks. A chile relleño is best when it's grilled, charred & tender but instead the second visit the burrito was crisp & mediocre. That's when we must remind ourselves, this is fast food. Oh, get this. Tecos is open until 4am Thursday thru Saturday. Holy shit, really? If the food was better than okay it'd be the go-to place but it isn't so... Wait, maybe it is the go-to place for Mexican. Is there anything else open that late on Powell? It's your call. P.S. There's coupons on their website if you're interested in saving a buck or two.

More reminiscent of dog food than anything else. And the fish was just a huge mistake.... yuck. The discomfort over the orders was only worsened by the sorrrow I feel for the poor employee working the window. If id known the food was going to be thrown away by us instead of eaten I would have rather just given her the 20 dollars and left with nothing. It would have probably gone to better use.

As its real close to me I've been going to tecos for a while. I get the 5 chicken tacos for $3 every time. I guess sometimes I get 10 tacos for $6 but that's rare. Everything else seems expensive by comparison. So after 100 tacos I say they are good munchy killers. The hours been lessening but still open descent my late. I've tried my friends food there too and only recommend the burritos: breakfast being the best. Same workers there every time and they are nice. Lastly and possibly most importantly, they put your tacos standing up in a plastic container, if you just let them be as is the sauce from the tacos will soften the taco shell down the center/middle and will likely break in half upon eating. Many times I walked the tacos home to have them all split on me when i finally sit and eat. Move them around some or eat fast or something just dont wana ruin the tacos. Mi gusto tacos

Worst enchiladas. Took my 9 months pregnant self, excited that I could get a Mexican fix without getting my 3 year old out of the car. Ordered cheese enchiladas. Pretty bad sauce.... Bitter and vinegar-y. They were Luke warm and the cheese wasn't even melted. But the beans were great. Probably won't be back,

Mexican Cuisine

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.

Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.
