This place is legit. You know its going to be good when you walk in and all the TV's are on the Spanish language stations. The chips and salsa are excellent, probably top 3 best salsa in town. Just about every other place makes it really runny in Portland and these guys have just the perfect amount of chunk, reminds me of really great SoCal mexican food joints. I've been here 3 times and each time I leave stuffed and happy. The prices are low for the amount of food you get, and they are quick getting your food all out to you. Look forward to going back!

Excellent carne asada tacos for 2 bucks . Plus chips and killer salsa. Definitely coming back on regular basis.

I live in the hood and come here often. To be honest, the burritos are meh, but burritos aren't really Mexican so I can forgive that. Instead, get the tacos. Any of them. Two tacos+ unlimited chips with fresh smoky salsa and a bottomless 1 dollar beverage= 5 bucks. They are friendly and I'm glad they are getting press lately so they'll stay open. Would be even better if they stayed open til 11!

The atmosphere is nice and the place is super clean. People are real nice. My only problem is the food is way too damn spicy. And I'm a guy who likes spicy food. The first few times that wasn't the issue, but the last couple times it is so hot I can't finish my burrito. That's what hot sauce is for! I probably won't come back but for that issue alone.

One of my favorite burrito places in Portland. I really wish they were open later, as I much prefer their menu and pricing to Robo Taco.

I gave this place a few months to work out the kinks after a mediocre first visit right after they opened. Not much improved. I don't trust any burrito that is 95‰ not meat.

This place is great! Absolutely a new favorite. Satisfies meat eaters and vegetarians alike. Outstanding complimentary salsa, and chips.

I would really give this place 2.75 stars, but yelp doesnt allow that. Shame on you Yelp. Anyways, back to the nitty gritty. Went here with a friend to celebrate a new beginning. We both ordered three carnitas tacos each. Chips and Salsa are free, which is a nice change of pace, the chips didnt seem to be fresh but the salsa was good. The horchata was alright, I'd drink it again. Once we got our tacos, they seemed alright. Not anything mind blowing or impressive.

I was a fan and a regular (2-3x weekly) of their original location in N. PDX and I'm a fan of this location too. I just don't get to SE that often, but if I need a mexican fix when I'm in this area, I will be going here. Everything is made fresh and tasty. I'm very partial to the nachos here especially. To those searching for this place, it is literally attached to the same building as Grand Bowling Alley, which is huge. I had drove around looking for it for awhile before I realized this.

Where do I start? I was reluctant to try a taco shop, because I'm from Texas. However, I was not disappointed! When I first read the menu and discovered that this place has beef tongue, beef head, and barbacoa tacos, I knew this place would be authentic. On the first day, I tried one taco each of the three mentioned. The barbacoa was flavorful but on the dry side. The other two were delicious. On the second day, I ordered three beef tongue tacos, because they were my favorite. Watch out for the salsa verde, because it is spicier than the normal green salsa. I'm excited to try the rest of the items on the menu! The rice and beans were good- I liked that the rice was soft (I'm not a fan of dry rice). The taco combo comes with 3 tacos (regular tacos), rice, beans, and a soft drink. Great value!

Friendly people and some of the tastiest freshest salsa I've had at a quick taco joint in Portland: not bad! I was in the area and needed a quick lunch, so I ordered the lengua tacos topped with cabbage, cilantro, radish and cotija. That's the Taco Mexicano version; there are a couple of other options ranging from quite basic to guacamole and Jack as taco toppings. The lengua was tender, the veggies crisp, and I was happy. What the tacos might have slightly lacked in complexity was more than made up for by the freshness of everything. The salsa was just-right-spicy, studded with little flecks of roasted peppers and fresh tomatoes and all other such good things; it stood out as the best part of the meal, memorable because it's too often an afterthought at too many taco spots. And the menu was just the kind of lengthy tome I love, full of other favorites like sopes, gorditas, and tortas (plus several specifically vegetarian options). As far as quick tacos go, Portland may not be the promised land...but if you're in Portland, Taqueria Portland is the right destination regardless.

Few people had recommended this restaurant to me so decided to see what it's all about. I have been back twice and I can honestly say I love this place. Parking can be a little tricky at times but it's worth the wait to find a spot. One thing that I love is the chips and the salsa, it's the perfect salsa, fresh cilantro, chunks on onions, probably one of the best scratch made salsas I have ever had. They always ask you if you would like more when the food comes out. Few of the favorites off the menu I have tried first is the 3 taco combo, you choose the meats and get rice and beans with radish and limes a drink comes with the combo's for $7.00. The taco salad is pretty awesome the shell is my favorite part, comes with rice and beans, guacamole, sour cream, cheese and you choose the meat. Super burrito is huge, probably fill you up for the rest of the day, has a spicy salsa on it. They have a huge bar and probably ever tequila you can think of, have not had a chance to try the margaritas but people say they are awesome. They serve coke products and have a selection of ice teas, also have a great selection of jarritos ( Mexican flavored sodas ) and horchata a drink made with ground almonds and cinnamon. Huge selection of bottled beers. The restaurant is very clean, floor is always clean tables clean. The staff is super friendly and will always offer suggestions. If this is your first visit grab a menu and sit down to makes a decision its a huge menu. Check this place out you won't be disappointed.

Once you finally take a leap of faith and go here instead of Robo Taco you'll be glad you did. Sure the name is uninspired and the strip mall location is yet another mental hurdle. But the food here is fantastic! This is a taco shop like you'd find, uh, how should I put it, South of the 45th parallel. They don't 'improve' the taco by adding organic kale or zesty chipotle aioli. And bonus, if you like craft beer, after placing your order you can go next door to Growler Guys to enjoy a pint and they'll gladly deliver your food there.

Not recommended. The horchata was fine, but everything else was disappointing. Nothing was tasty and it didn't feel very high quality. I got their deluxe chicken burrito and the chicken was in small bits that didn't taste right.

  • Chris C.

I work just down the street from this place and I love coming here for lunch. My favorite lunch is getting 3 tacos and an horchata to drink. Recently I tried their spicy green enchiladas and they were fantastic too. The seasoning is great on every meat. The meats are gristle free and cooked perfectly. They offer free chips and salsa with your order. The salsa is AMAZING! If they sold salsa in a tub I would buy some. I'm totally serious. The decor looks like a fast food joint and you do get your food fast, but this place is an authentic Mexican taco shop.

In my short time in Portland, I have come to realize that it doesn't matter the culture or cuisine, you can find it here and get a very good if not better rendition of what you already know. It's Portland, it's a foodie town. I came up from Texas and bbq and Tex-Mex are two very hard things to duplicate. So far I've found some very good taquerias but not great bbq. Being that I do dry rub myself,it's tough to please me. Anyway, I had to make a short trip to my storage unit and not too far away is the Portland Taqueria. It's right by that bowling alley and Sparky's Pizza. I required sustenance and why not, a quick check on Yelp and in I went. First thing that hits you is that menu...... wow. Tacos, burritos, tortas, nachos and so much more. Of course they had their usual meat choices plus lengua and even cabeza. I'm brave, but not that brave just yet. I'll get there. I got carnitas and lengua with a side of rice and refried beans. Then I saw they had hortchata. YES. Love the stuff. They also had some agua frescas in jamaica and tamarind. I also was given a side of chips and salsa. The salsa had a mild kick to it. The chips needed salt. The tacos were just what you'd want them to look like, two tortillas each, meat, cilantro and onions. I also had red and green sauce as well. Neither were too spicy for my liking but both had decent flavor. The green sauce had a bit of a lime taste to it. The meat was cooked perfect and the carnitas had a little char to it even. The beans were creamy and were gone rather fast. This was a good meal that would have stood up down in the hearty of Texas. Some good people made some good food and that made me happy. Enjoy.

This place is tasty, cheap and has the best service around! Everyone who works here is so friendly and helpful! Although you order at the counter, they bring the food to you and always come by to take your dishes too. Plus, when you are eating there they give you chips and salsa while waiting. YUM!

Have you ever felt like one of the Israelites, wandering in the wilderness of Portland's mediocre Mexican food? If so, rejoice because our day has come! The promised land has been found, and it is called Taqueria Portland. Have a meal here at the next chance you get. The chips and salsa are delicious and complementary (as they should be everywhere!). The food is extraordinarily good and reasonably priced. My wife and I agree that Taqueria Portland's food has a spiritual quality that is lacking in all of the other Mexican food we've tried in Portland. Stop on in and nourish your soul! Keep up the good work, Taqueria Portland. We'll be back for many visits. Even the water tastes good :)

Impressive menu, lots of vegetarian options, and really delicious complimentary chips and salsa. I've only been once so far and enjoyed the veggie burrito. This sucker was like the length of my fore arm. Taqueria Portland should be renamed Taqueria San Diego as they do a pretty good job of mimicking SoCal style Mexican food. The prices here are also impressive, the veggie burrito was less than $5, the same price at as my favorite Mexican food cart. I can't wait to return and try more of their huge menu. Taqueria Portland is perfect for those craving SoCal vegetarian-friendly Mexican. It doesn't hurt that Growler Guys is next door and encourages you to bring your food over. You can't beat a burrito and a beer.

These tacos are awesome (and really spicy). I wasn't expecting much and was pleasantly surprised. I have been back several times and they are always good. I would have given 5 stars but the margaritas are pretty bad and taste like they must be using grocery store sugary fake margarita mixer. Stick to the beer. Still well worth a visit.

  • Mike C.

I would give 5 stars but in order to do that, the food needs too be mindblowing... Having said that, this place very very good. Free chips and salsa is awesome, no one does that here unless you go somewhere fancy. The tacos are delicious. I had the carnitas, the steak and the barbacoa. All were tasty, but hard to distinguish from each other. There was also way too much sour cream on them.. like covered... but they were still good after i wiped some off. The beans and rice were AMAZING. I got them for free to go with my 3 hard tacos which was great! The beans were soooo good and creamy! I've never had beans like that before and they were some of the best I've ever had. The rice was very soft and fluffy with good flavor too. The best part was that I got all of that, plus a fountain drink for $7.75! I WAS SO FULL. Nice employees too. I think the counterperson forgot to charge me for the soda, but i tipped a little extra,.. Go check it out!

I heard about Taqueria Portland from a friend and it turns out it very close to my work. This has proved to be a fruitful development. Al Pastor: really quite delicious. They put pineapple chunks in with it which can be hit or miss, but I like it plenty fine. In comparison, it makes a nearby taqueria look whiter than it already did. Pollo and asada: Good items. Both are chopped into small chunks (not shredded) and the pollo is rubbed with some combo of spices. Barbacoa: Excellent. Up there with the pastor as my go-to item. Chili verde: Not impressed. Carnitas: Quite good but greasy as per usual. All in all, really good options for tacos and burritos, but here's the kicker: c.h.i.p.s. and s.a.l.s.a. That's right, for some reason this one taqueria, lone in PDX as far as I can tell, decided that it would be appropriate to actually serve chips and salsa with their food. Unbelievable. A million points for this absolute necessity which is horrendously forsaken in this town. The decor is bland. The TVs are pretty loud and usually on sports or random pop music videos. They have a full bar. The service is excellent. This is my go-to spot at the moment for quality taqueria fare (be aware, pricey at about $2/taco) when I'm at/around work. Makes the list.

If you don't know about this place you should educate yourself by eating here. This is one of the best hidden gem Mexican food joints in the city. Everything from the tacos, to the burritos and the enchiladas are delicious. The prices are quite reasonable, and the service is speedy and friendly - even when it's busy. A word of caution though: if you don't like your salsa or food spicy, this might not be the place for you. And beware of the regular burrito. When they say it comes with spicy salsa on the inside, they REALLY mean it.

  • Tyler D.

Well I fell into the trap of the super burrito. I skimmed over the ingredients, every one of them lookin real good but I failed to see the lettuce. Oh lettuce, you are such a burrito killer! Taking up precious space where meat and other deliciousness is supposed to be. I mean there's only so much space in this tortilla sleeping bag and lettuce just doesn't do it for me. The meat tasted good when I could find it and the only reason I give 3 stars is because of the salsas. Both green and red are real good and I suspect if I put in a better order, I will be rewarded.

If you're looking for legit Mexican food in inner SE look no further! The carnitas are awesome! We had the torta (giant for $6.99) and the tostadas super (crispy and delicious for $7.25) with carnitas. The salsa verde is just the right amount of spicy. The chipotle salsa is solid too. We'll be coming back often! A huevo!!

Very fresh and tasty! Their salsa could be better but I visit for the burritos.

This place is great! I work near by and, ever since Taqueria Portland opened, neither myself nor any of my coworkers have been back to Robo Taco (right across the street) because this is so much better, faster, cheaper, and faster. I can't speak highly enough of their food. It's all fresh, delicious, and ready fast. Their home made salsa is the best I've had in town and is free with chips with your meal. It's a great spot and definitely worth the visit.

I wandered in here while awaiting an appointment nearby and I'm so glad I did. For the record, I am a pathological trier of new things. I say that because I tried the "mushroom burrito." It's a burrito, like any other (beans, rice, guac, sour cream, cheese) but in place of the meat is a pile of sautéed mushrooms. I'm NOT a vegetarian, but I'm also not anti-veg meals. This burrito is easily one of my favorites I have ever had. Keep in mind, I grew up in a sea of authentic Mexican food in the southwest. If you are a fan of authentic Mexican food, go here and if you're deeper in SE Portland, hit up Él Pato Feliz. Mmmmmmmm.

  • Aaron C.

Went here on my lunch break. I ordered the Super Burito. It was ok, nothing to write home about. They do give you chips and salsa when you order so you have something to snack on while you wait which was nice. It took about 20 minutes to get my one burrito though which seemed like a long time, especially since they weren't that busy. I usually take a 30-45 minute lunch but had to take an hour because of the wait time. I feel like one of the perks of Mexican food is that besides tasting great, it's usually prepared very fast. Not the case here. There's better options...

A few people told me this place was good... I was not into the mall-like atmosphere of cacophonous noise at all. Very out of place. But I kept an open mind and had hopes. The food was very low quality and also made my partner and I both sick (and we got vegetarian options). So yeah, never ever going there again. I have no idea why people think this is good.

  • Sahara S.

I love this place. They have delicious and filling vegetarian options for pretty much every standard. My favorite may be the burrito, it's less than $5 and huge. All of the prices are fantastic. Definitely recommend, especially if you work in the area.

This place is across the street from my office and I anxiously awaited their opening and was blown away when I tasted the offerings, I wasn't disappointed at all! My favorite is the taco salad and a horchata for lunch. Sometimes I get a quesadilla or a burrito but the taco salad is where it's at for me. I love how anything can be made veggie or when I am craving meat I love the barbacoa, a really flavorful addition. I love their chips and salsa too! Great chips, just salty and crispy enough and the salsa is bursting with flavor! Great little spot, not too spendy and quick if you gotta get back to it. My mouth is watering just thinking about getting lunch there tomorrow!

+ Chips and salsa included with a dine in order + Tacos are about $2 + Telemundo on the TVs + Pretty good service + Lots of options I didn't try the beef tounge or head but they have it. If you're thinking about Sparkys or Subway this is a better option.

This place is cheap and delicious! I've only had a chorizo super burrito. Nice and filling. Self serve soda pop! Free chips and a delicious salsa. The place is spotless and the staff are explemary. I will be coming back and sampling more of the menu! I am not a drinker but they appear to have a wide selection of tequillas!

First time, great tacos! Second time, mediocre burrito. Third time, mediocre burrito coupled with bad service and hidden upcharges? Yep, I won't be back! I'll head back to yummy and delicious Los Gorditas on Division!

Fish burrito was pretty tasty and good sized. Battered fish, not tons of meat but enough. Fish taco was good value, tasty and filling. Comes with free chips and nicely made Smokey salsa. Corn tortilla and nice piece of fresh avo, with rice and beans all came to 11$ I'd return ..and not just because the pizza place next door sent us searching for more sustinence

Flavorful & affordable. Their super burrito is excellent size and made to order. The habanero salsa is legit...if you can handle it. Complimentary chips come in little wooden bowls, nice touch.

For those of you who have been following along, you know that I love tacos. You probably also know that thus far I've been woefully disappointed in my Portland taco experience. Well, gentle readers, I'm not ready to declare Taqueria Portland a slam dunk, but they serve straightforward Mexican food without any "Portland twist", and at a reasonable price. That's enough for me to declare myself a fan. Every order comes with chips and salsa, and I really dig the salsa. It tastes smokier than you might expect, with a small amount of heat that shouldn't turn many people off. I think it's fantastic. I've had a few of the more basic menu offerings, and from what I can tell, the tacos are superior to the burritos. The regular tacos are only $2.15 a pop, and are actually pretty hefty. I ordered four, and ended up being well past full. The carnitas and pastor are both pretty ridiculous, and the lengua was great as well. The burritos were fine, but nothing to write home about. There are a TON of specialty menu items here that I need to try, but I've been so happy to find reasonably priced and straightforward street tacos, that it's been difficult to stray. Someday. Finally, his place gets massive bonus points for not succumbing to the unique Portland expectation that you'll bus your own tables. There's not even a place to take your dishes if you DO try and do the work yourself. It shouldn't be a novelty that a restaurant doesn't expect you to do their job for them, but alas that's the city we live in. Props to Taqueria Portland for remembering that they're in the hospitality industry.

Well done Taqueria Portland, I really enjoyed your food today. Well recommended by fellow Yelpers and I see why. We got several different Tacos and a Burrito today along with a couple margaritas. First I have to commend you on you flavor and texture of your food. My taste buds were so freaking happy today. The Pork Verde Tacos were very good, and your red and green salsas again had flavor not just heat. The salsa with your chips was also flavorful, lots of texture and Delicious. I also chowed down a regular Burrito with grilled chicken, and wow here we go again flavor and texture. Theme today is Flavor and Texture. Very clean inside especially the mirrors on the walls no grubby hands prints. Giant menu on the wall, would be nice to have one to hold in my hand to look at. Parking is a challenge in the lot next to the place because of all the spots marked for other businesses. You can find street parking and a garage on 8th. It's worth finding a spot to park.

This place was SOOOO good that I came back twice in one day. Yes, I had both lunch and dinner here while I was in Portland. I went to lunch with family and they took me to Taqueria Portland where I ordered the green salad with chicken (minus the radishes). The chicken is flavored to perfection - there is no need for dressing. They make a salad the most tasty thing - ever!! So, when my family came to get me for dinner, they asked where I wanted to go. I answered, "Taqueria Portland." They laughed, but they took me again and I ordered the exact same thing - as did one of my family members. The prices are reasonable, too. I can't say enough about this place. Love it. LOVE IT!! Can't wait to come back. I miss you already. Love, Kate

Tacos were delicious!!! And the combo meal was a steal. Regular tacos are $2.15/ taco. Meal for 3 tacos, beans and rice, chips and salsa, and soda was $7. The meat for the tacos are more minced than most places, but there is a lot of flavor and nice crunch and not dry. Indoor and outdoor seating. Fast service and low key environment. Will be back for more tacos. Yumm.

Went here today. Ordered the sopescand asked them to not deep fry, then the lady at the till turned around to ask another woman if it was possible to make the sopes without frying them. She came nack to me and said no they have to be deep fried and mentioned to her that on my previous visit (which was also my first visit) they made my sopes without frying them. Her response was to ask the other lady standing behind her. They were talking and then the other lady went into the kitchen at which time the woman that iwas taking my order moved over to the kitchen window and she started talking to the cook. (Mean while their was a queue forming behind me. Then the other lady offered me a gordita said they dont deep fry those but they are stuffed with cheese. And that did not interest me so i asked both of them why couldnt they make the sopes without deep frying. And they told me that the cook said some thing about the corn masa being raw and not cooked. Seemed like they were making a hassle and fuss over nothing. They made them for me before without any issues and they were fine. So at that i told them that i would just cancel my order. And i politely exited. I dont get it if the did it before why not this time. Besides who wants their food deep fried. Not healthy and ruins the taste of the food. Wish i could say ill be back but i think not. Its too bad because i really liked this place.

Saw this place when I was heading into Sparky's for a slice one day and put it in the old memory bank. Yesterday rolls around and I'm in the neighborhood AND hungry so I gave them a whirl. They're the new kids in this block of buildings, the same one that Grand Central Bowl is in. I believe, but don't quote me, that this place is affiliated with the Taqueria Portland in North Portland. The food was great! I had three tacos, one with barbacoa, carnitas, and steak. I had them all Mexicano style which, in addition to onions and cilantro, added cabbage and cotija cheese. I'm not a big fan of cotija cheese so that was my fault for ordering. The underlying foundation was very good, not mind blowing, but good. I feel like the corn tortillas were house made, which is ALWAYS a plus. The service was stellar. The man running the show was super friendly and forced chips and salsa on me, in a good way. Which I'm lucky because their salsa was really good, so where the chips. He made sure I had enough water which is no small feat! The only thing I didn't really like was the places atmosphere. I think they must have outsourced all the promo gear to Coca Cola because the place feels like the Coke museum in Atlanta. Coke this, Coke that, EVERYWHERE! Wasn't a big fan of that. The menu is also a jumble, not orderly at all. So, all in all, I'm feeling pretty lucky to have this place here!

Big portions and big flavors. It's not the California Mexican food I'm used to but it's fantastic. My Texan girlfriend says it's a lot closer to Tex-Mex. For those hankerin' for some delicious Mexican food way north of the border, this might be the place for you.

THIS PLACE IS JUST SO DANG GOOD! My bf and I are visiting from Seattle and we really wanted Mexican food and saw this place wasn't too far. The people who work here are really nice. And we literally finished every last bit of our enchiladas. Next time we come to Portland we're definitely coming here again

I think my wife and I have found our new Mexican Restaurant to go to and for take out. We both know excellent Mexican food and this place has it! In addition, if you are dining in, they have a full bar too, so for those that want extra liquids with a kick with their dinner, then come here. The salsa is amazing too, and it comes in some hot flavors. I am so glad that Portland has a true Authentic Mexican Restaurant now, versus what we already have in the near vicinity. Portland, if you want some great tasting tacos and Mexican food, then come here. In addition, the prices are not too high and most of all, "The Customer Service is Amazing". The gentlemen offered me some free salsa and chips while I waited for our food to go. What other Mexican eatery in Portland, Oregon offers that kind of customer service? Overall, we are totally stoked! Thank YOU!!!!!!

Really good fresh Mexican food. Free chips and salsa with every order! Excellent tacos, quesadillas, and burritos. The flautas and chimichanga aren't too bad either, just not as awesome as the other things I've tried. If you want great tacos and don't feel like dining in a sea of hipsters, avoid robo taco and hit up taqueria Portland instead.

Visiting Portland for a Convention at rose quarter, and this is our first time in Portland so thank you Yelp for this little (but big enough) spot, authentic mexican food, I come from a Spanish household and believe the food & ambiance can be likened to a real taqueria in MX. Anyways we ordered the Chile Relleno Burrito & the Burrito Mole, so gooood. free chips & salsa, and $1 sodas? count me in! $5.45 for a generous sized burrito that tasted pretty great. Anyways, check them out for sure!

Today I was venturing to Clever Cycles to be a bike geek for a bit. Talk City bikes. Got hungry. I wanted to see if there was a good burrito nearby (the quest for a "as good as the bay area" burrito continues...), they recommended Robo Taco on Morrison, gave me some quick directions, and I noodled my bike that direction. At the corner of my eye, I see "Taqueria" in what appeared to be a strip mall. Was this the place? Nope. But I was intrigued. There was Mexican TV, chips under a warm light, tons of signs around me that said: "Try this.. " I went for my staple. Plain veggie burrito. Refried beans, lettuce, tomato, salsa. The nice lady hands me over CHIPS. Ahh Jeah...that's the way I remember it. A salsa, it has cilantro swimming in it, this is looking good! The chips were warm, not the best I have had, but heck. they were free, and good enough. The Salsa? VERY good. The burrito. Good size. The ingredients is spread evenly. The lettuce is fresh. The lightly spread sour cream, a nice light avocado sauce, good flavor and texture of the rice.. Yeah, this is CA average. That is a great bar to reach! Good burrito, excellent salsa, good chips included and under $5. I felt like I was visiting my home town of San Jose. This place reminds me of San Jose's "Burrito Factory", but $1 more. Will come back! Oh, yeah, I wanted to see where this Robo Taco place was so I biked a little further. My belly was reasonably full, but I wanted to know what made people think it stood out (just had a good experience, needed to try the same thing.. just so I knew, this is important stuff!). I duplicated my order. A rice and bean with added pico was as close as I could reach. It was a $1 more than Taqueria Portland. It did not include chips. The salsas were only that runnier stuff in bottles you squeeze. I did find the cucumber salsa interesting, it tastes okay. The burrito was still better than almost all the places I have tried in PDX, with exception of the truck on Division and 50th, so it was totally worth it, but I do have to admit... liked Taqueria Portland better. If you "want" soy curls or a vegan version of pork, it is $2 more at Roco Taco.. Once a burrito is over $7, I start thinking of other sit down meals. I will try it next time since I like those things.. but over $7? I have a feeling the Mexicans at Taqueria Portland will see me the most!

I've eaten here a few times now and I'm never disappointed. I've had the fish tacos which are awesome. Today I had the chicken mole burrito which was spicy and delicious. The prices are reasonable and the food is great.

Mexican Cuisine

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.

Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.
