I have enjoyed this place so much that I've come here for breakfast two days in a row! It's a quiet, unassuming little place. Nothing fancy, but the service is excellent and the coffee and food are terrific. This isn't a trendy "Portlandia" kind of place, so you won't find any green haired, tattooed, wannabe hipsters working or hanging out here. And that's another reason why this place is awesome! Try the breakfast bagel sandwiches! They are the best I've ever had. Also, this place seems to have a bunch of regular customers, so that's another reason you know it's good.

Very sweet and attentive owner. Great bagel and coffee! Relaxing atmosphere. Glad we pulled off the highway for breakfast.

I was leery at first. Weird Asian run breakfast place with a quick to the point mannerism that reminded me of a thin Asian Julia child. Interesting menu and style However once I received my food... Everything was HOT!! I mean amazingly fresh and hot. Usually I get lukewarm bagel breakfast sandwiches at best, at sub-par establishments. The first bite was like tasting heaven on a bagel.. It was huge. It had quality ingredients Real honey baked ham, Fluffy eggs Real cheddar cheese On an amazing Asiago bagel. It was the BEST bagel breakfast sandwich I've ever had in my LIFE!!!! And I've had them all over the country This is hands down the greatest find!!! Amazing hidden gem I can't wait to try more stuff!!

You won't find gourmet fare or a huge selection of choices here, but what you will find is a really decent breakfast or lunch, a fun and quirky atmosphere, huge portions, and cheap prices. And sometimes that's exactly what we want, right? I've had both breakfast and lunch here several times and have been enchanted by the hard-working lady who runs the place. She greets you with a sweet sing-song voice that is just sort of adorable. The meatloaf sandwich (side of tasty potato salad, too) is really good, and is so enormous - count on bringing half of it home (it's just as great straight out of the refrigerator for dinner.) All that for $5.50! I don't see any problem at all with her no-laptop policy. It's a little neighborhood jewel, and I am glad it's there, just the way it is.

The previous negative reviews for this place are hilarious. I'm giving it five stars because folks who piss their pants over not being able to use their laptop are out of line. Yeah the lady who runs the place isn't the most polite person in the world but if you took a moment to talk to her instead of whining about not being able to facebook you'd learn that she's actually really sweet and kind (her husband - the cook - is really nice too). It's important to remember that they just don't want to run an internet cafe - they want to serve decent food and good coffee at rock bottom prices. And this they do. Come here for anything else and be disappointed.

I was a bit leery when I walked in to inquire about a quick to go breakfast. OMG, the egg, Ham and Swiss bagel sandwich is by far the BEST I have ever eaten! I took quick bites all the way to Clackamas Town Center and it was still warm when I got to the mall. Truly a delicious sandwich! Looking forward to my next trip out towards Glisan Providence!

Great coffee. The store is not anything to be excited about but the coffee is so great. The scone was one of the best that I have ever had. I higher suggest if you are in the area or on the way to the hospital. It is a good stop and go place.

An excellent $5 breakfast! Great coffee, quirky cute service, and great food. The veggie scramble (with broccoli, onion and tomato) was very good. Is was served with 3 strips of bacon, a whole toasted bagel and diner style hash browns. The "funny flavor" others spoke of was sesame oil instead of canola, a welcome and subtle asian influence. This place is a neighborhood gem!

Let me preface this by mentioning that I truly despise eco-twee cafes peopled with mustache-twirling whippersnappers. If you go in for that kind of thing, then don't bother with this review - or this cafe, really. I love this place. I just found it five days ago and have been in every day (except Sunday, when it was closed). Yeah, the owner is eccentric - in the best way, actually - but she is extremely kind and respectful (if you don't open a laptop, apparently, which I didn't). All she wants to do is feed and caffeinate you and provide you and your friends with a clean, warm atmosphere. Like a mom. I recommend the breakfast bagels. Maybe avoid the espresso and go for the coffee instead. Keep it simple, and I guarantee you'll have a pleasant experience. Take note of the wonderfully odd collection of tea and coffee related antiques in the window, and the industrial strength buckets being sold for 95 cents on a chair by the register. This is not a snobby place; it will not earn you cool points on Tinder. What it will be is a place to just have a moment for yourself. That's the kind of cafe I love. Five big stars from me.

This Cafe is three seconds from my house, and I had really high hopes for it when I walked in. Very cute decor and a decent menu, so my friend and I settled down at a table for a relaxing breakfast. Relaxing... HA. Within 2 minutes, the Asian lady mentioned in so many other reviews had asked us multiple times if we were ready to order. Way too attentive... thankfully we hadn't brought our laptops, or else I'm sure we would have dealt with that joyous exchange described by other patrons. Service was 1 star, but the food made up for it. The egg and cheese on a bagel was fantastic enough to (almost) convince me to come back here, but I will have to make certain I'm ready to order within 0.2 milliseconds. Good for an in and out breakfast or coffee.

Think of it as having breakfast at your Grandma's house. Turn off your damn phone, join in on the conversation and have a great meal (without spending a lot of money!)

Great little find but cumbersome with the credit cards. The price is definitely right. Service is friendly and the food is good. Nice little neighborhood find.

Nice little place. Don't mind the owner - she's very nice despite the initial scary-ness.

I got a coffee here and it was similar quality to that of a gas station. The lady seemed nice enough but I can see why they don't have many customers.

Ditto! Seriously. What everyone else is saying. I guess I should have read the reviews before going in here. It was a whim ok? I've seen this place driving by a billion times, and we needed a quick eggs and toast breakfast before getting on the road. I thought the name of the place referred to something yummy inside. The little woman (I mean this in a respectful, as well as a descriptive way) was as sweet as could be. She sings the orders to the cook in the back there, especially I noticed, when folks wanted pancakes. I ordered those and a couple of eggs. Everything came out in a fairly reasonable time but it was like getting those fake plastic foods that little kids use in their little fake kitchens as toys. The food tasted like nothing. It was like "air" food. No flavor. Very strange. The little pancakes were nuked so they came in a package in the freezer, to the microwave, and then on your plate. I feel I need to explain why 3 stars instead of 2. Coffee was fine. Place is clean. Staff are friendly. I thought the name of the place was going to mean something. Nice marketing. It has as much meaning as Sour Cream Cafe. No reflection at all to the food, either way.

I would love to have experienced the singing that others note but instead as I approached the counter, the older asian woman behind the counter seeing my laptop bag said, "i just want to make sure, this is no laptop cafe". I was confused at first and assumed she meant there was no wi-fi but then she said it again in kind of a forceful way. Bad customer service right off the bat. I don't go places with service like this. Period. But maybe thinking I had misunderstood her, I asked "Do you mean I can't use my laptop AT ALL?" and she said that was true. Ok, it's a cafe. People like me spend a lot of money and time patronizing places like this around Portland. I took my perfectly good $12.50 less than a block away to Seven Virtues where I now sit writing this review. Shame on you, Sweet Cream. I'm not sure what you are trying to prove by discriminating against your customers based on their technological provocations and I don't care. You only proved that your competition is more deserving of my money.

Very interesting little spot. A sweet older couple runs the place and it almost seems like its from an alternate dimension... I don't know how else to put it. Breakfast bagels Sammie's are decent and you can get an anything flavored coffee because they have a billion coffee syrups to choose from.

The only reason I'm giving this place 2 stars is because of the cute couple who run the place. The woman takes your order and sings it back to her husband in the kitchen, and she's simply adorable. The food on the other hand, is TERRIBLE! I went in for breakfast after staying at a friend's house just down the street. The coffee was good, and the toast was cooked perfectly and not over buttered. The omelet, on the other hand, was runny and had a funny flavor to it, the hashbrowns were dry and flavorless, and the bacon microwaved. In fact, I'm pretty sure everything on my plate (aside from the toast) was microwaved, including the plate. I had two bites of everything, just to be sure I couldn't eat it, and there was no way I could even try. I left after finishing my toast and went home to cook some eggs and potatoes. I may go back for coffee, just to be entertained by the woman, but I will never make the mistake of eating the food here again.

This place is wonderful. Food is very cheap and the couple that owns the place are lovely, friendly people. The service here is way better than most of the other places I've been to in Portland. The food is made to order. I really like the food but it's not fancy. Great eggs and hashbrowns. I really like the omelets but they're not big fluffy diner omelets, they're like the omelets and hashbrowns that my grandma used to make. Coffee and tea is really good. I'm going there now to try the other breakfast items but I can't yet speak to the quality of pancakes. If you like cheap, good quality food and coffee this place if for you. If you like overpriced fancier food and expensive coffee or if you need to use your computer you should go to Seven Virtues across the street.

The awkwardness of my experience was capped by getting yelled at by the owner for busting out my laptop. I'd ordered two sandwiches to-go. After waiting what seemed like a weird amount of time for a tuna sandwich coming from a kitchen with no other orders. I starting searching around for something to read. No luck. So I opened my laptop to do some work. And then was yelled (seriously) by the woman behind the counter. Silly me. I should have just assumed I was in the only coffee shop in Portland that has issues with folks being on their computers. I can definitely respect a business owners decision to say no to computer camping but a) I was waiting for a to-go order and b) do not scream at somebody when they just money in your cash register. They've since put a cute little "No Laptops" sign on the door. I notice it as I walk past and go to the shop down the street. The saddest part: My sandwich was extremely tasty.

Okay, so the food is good, not great, but good. It's also dirt cheap. Which of course makes the food infinitely better, but the extra 4th star is for the dynamic duo that runs this joint. They are the cutest thing ever... I'm assuming the husband is just as tiny & adorable as the wife, but I've never seen him as he is always in the back. When you place your order, she literally screams it back to him in this high pitched, heavily accented voice that makes me smile. I've had breakfast & the egg salad sandwich, I hear the burger can't be beat for $3.75. I have to tell you, if you're going to buy a cookie you might as well by the bag. Which is also dirt cheap & delicious. All and all, totally rad.

I moved to this neighborhood a few months ago, and have noticed Sweet Cream Cafe before. Today I finally had a chance to go in. I was hoping for some yummy baked goods and a coffee to go, and was sad to see that the bakery items were all wrapped in plastic, or were in clear plastic clam shell containers. This indicated to me that there really was no way of knowing how old the items were, and that they were most likely not homemade. So I ordered a vanilla latte & passed on the pastries. The latte was so-so. I haven't tried their freshly cooked breakfast foods or their sandwiches, so I can't comment on those options. I liked the quirkiness of the place, but after reading the other reviews, I'm now tempted to go in with my laptop case, just to see what happens!

This is a hole in the wall, but it also happens to be one of my favorite places to grab a quick, cheap, breakfast. This is a husband/wife owned restaurant with a limited menu, that accumulates to excellent consistency, excellent service, and just a fun neighborhood environment.
