The flatbread was stale and then toasted and then was so ungodly hard that it shred the roof of my mouth. I don't understand why I return to Subway once every two months to literally put myself through the torture that is a really, really mediocre sandwich that tastes like nothing. Eff this place, I'm going to East Side Deli.

I came to the subway on a hundred degree day and the dude that had just taken over the Sunday night shift was awesome! He made my sandwich like you would make it at home, d licious! Didn't catch the guys name.

I frequent this Subway pretty often since I have a client right down the street, so I get my weekly Sunday sandwich here. Upon entering I always receive a friendly greeting from the staff, and they usually remember what sandwich I want. The veggies always taste crisp and fresh, and they are constantly baking fresh bread and cookies. I try to tip them often and the staff are always very grateful and cheerful. If you're not all about the hype of Hawthorne and want something cheap and relatively healthy, this Subway is a great stop for a quick bite!

It's Subway! If you don't know what you're in for then ... Beth Willie can't help you. I go to Subway, MAYBE, once a year, for a five-dollar mercury-filled tuna sandwich. I get the works. It all tastes like water, but when you don't have A/C you can crash here for a solid hour with both your foot-longs (hehehe) and read. Oh, sadly, I read they found a homeless man dead behind their dumpster. Well, not the employees, but, like someone in the neighborhood. Insert your poor taste joke about him eating the food .... HERE!

Jared is a front. People don't go to Subway for healthy six-inch turkey subs. They go to Subway for 12-inch BMTs laden with mayonnaise and double cheese, which they don't have to feel guilty about eating because it's "healthy". Having said that, this is a good Subway as Subways go. There's rarely a line, because the place is hidden away and hard to find. (Well, also because if you're on Hawthorne, you're probably not going to be eating at Subway, are you?) The people who have worked there for a while are quick, skillful, and nice, but you do frequently have to suffer trainees (I will never forget the high school student who told me inappropriate jokes about his mother while he mangled my sub). A final note that has nothing to do with the quality of the food: I love, love, LOVE the music they play there. I am frequently pleasantly surprised by the background tuneage -- Neil Finn, Nick Heyward, Style Council, Michael Penn -- songs I would never expect to hear in a store.
