We enjoyed the variety of Hawaiian and pirate decor and the experiences available at the Splash Bar. I'm glad that a Living Social deal lead us to discover it. It's a welcoming place for kids before 9 PM and the free arcade games were an unexpected bonus. The food was good - I cleaned my plate of kalua pork. The macaroni salad had more flavor than most. Once the private party arrived for the reserved space it was a little harder to get the staff's attention, but overall it was an appealing place. I'm not sure why it's listed as $$$ since the menu items were very reasonably priced, especially for the neighborhood.

I think most reviews have touched enough on the bro/dbag/hanging on to your greek days for dear life crowd that is at the core of Splash (it's a nice space, I'll give it that). I went once and never planned to return....until I saw the brew kettles in the window that is. I mean, it's Portland, Beervana, there's a high standard for beer and I love to try new beers (my personal list is over 2200 different beers) so why not give their product a try, especially since happy hour prices are $1 for their house brews. Well, it's still overpriced. I never thought I'd be drinking a micro and thinking that the bar down the street that serves $2 PBR would be a better deal. It's what you'd expect if a frat house decided to home brew. First off, the IPA. I love IPA's and Portland is IPA nirvana. How do you brew in Portland and screw up an IPA???? Well, Splash did it. It tasted like a skunky pilsner, I got no bite from the hops, no bitterness or complexity that is at the core of a good IPA. Maybe they forgot the hops? Next, the Lager. Well, swill is a kind description - if Natty Light got left out in the sun. It had a weak flavor that somehow left an unpleasant aftertaste. My wife and her friend couldn't finish their pints and both ended up with upset stomachs afterwards. From what I understand they are using some new type of brewing system so maybe it will get better, but for now, if you've just spent 4 years at basement house parties where you get your red cup for $3 and drink until you pass out you'll enjoy this beer. If that isn't you, well, order one of the other taps.

I was in town for the weekend and stumbled upon this place. There's a cover which turned me off but the drinks inside are not overpriced so I guess that makes it a little better. The music is good. They have a certified Hype Man on stage (or maybe it was just the night I was there). It was a white guy in a leather jacket jumping up and down while shouting, trying to amp up the place. Interesting enough, it actually worked. I wonder how much he gets paid to do that... The crowd is (for lack of a better word..and I hate this word..but..) kind of ratchet, but it is a good time for dancing. I am not from Oregon, but the vibe I got from this place is that it is somewhere I would go as a local if I was trying to get stupid drunk and turn up really hard and make poor decisions.

My review is long over due (kinda). I came in here about a year ago (Thursday night) and then recently about a few months ago some weekday during the day for happy hour. I came here on a blind date the first time and got stood up, however I didn't even realize that was happening since the manager and staff were so friendly and fun that I was having a great time that I completely forgot why I was even there. Then after an hour or two passed I realized this guy isn't showing up! Mainly their drinks and food (which is also very delicious) are very affordable especially being in the pearl. The staff is ever so friendly and prompt. Yea their décor is slightly cheesy, but I think it suites them well for trying to stick to the theme of splash bar. I actually like it. And yes depending on the nights the clientele can vary, but both times I didn't feel out of place and I'm in my late 20's (not 21! or around it) The second time I came back was for happy hour and my girl and I were just hanging out in the pearl and made a stop here. Food and drinks were so affordable and there were some nice gentlemen there too that were also friendly. Never got the feeling I was in a frat house or anything, but maybe I just got lucky.

This place is really only for a 25 and under crowd on their busy nights. Pretty obnoxious crowd. Good place to go if you want to get stupid drunk, and dance to bad mainstream music. Probably the only place to do that kind of stuff in Portland though.

-_- We stopped by here one night while barhopping. The crowd is........ lively. The music is...... loud...and outdated. The atmosphere is.... hm confusing? lol. It did look like some people were having fun on that dance floor though. Unless it's just a fl

This place is by no means "cool"- and definitely not "Portland cool". Splash Bar is just a fun place with a great happy hour. I love themed, kitchy bars, so this bar definitely fulfilled my need for kitchy. I love the bucket drinks and the mini pitchers of beer. They also make some mean tots and egg rolls. I would recommend this bar to people who want to get really drunk, really fast and for not a lot of money. I would also recommend this bar to 21 yr olds who want to dance to pop music with other 21 yr olds. One Friday evening in which I stayed way past happy hour, I noticed a lot of foreigners who looked barely looked 21, as well as a group of much older people (+/- 60) who were all getting down on the dance floor in their own respective ways. So if you're into a diverse crowd, this is your spot (after 9pm). Surrounding the dance floor are two "cage" type dance areas. I thought these looked pretty fun, however, I noticed the DJs turn dudes away from dancing in there, which I found to be sexist. -1 star for sexism. I did enjoy the selection of pop music that played later in the night (around 9pm-12am). The drinks become considerably more expensive once happy hour ends, and the "shot bus" starts up. I'm not sure what the "shot bus" is- it actually looks like a leftover prop from the Real World Portland. So, I like this bar during happy hour, and for when I want to go dancing with my *girl* friends. Unfortunately, this bar also has quite a good deal of shortcomings.

Not every Portland club is in Old Town! I have only been here on Fridays and Saturdays for the club scene. Great mixed drinks and never been disappointed with the music/dance floor.

I really don't understand how this place can get so many low reviews! Every time I've been here they've been awesome, the food is great fit for the $, service is super nice & friendly, always great vibes. It's not the height of sophistication. So what. That's part of the charm, it's a great place to relax, the music is fun and the bands actually really good.

This is every raucous tiki bar in the country. The crowd was definitely 21 to 25. There is a cover to get in, but if that doesn't deter you then $5 dollars for a Pabst will. They have a converted vehicle in which they serve specialty shots. A couple of beers on tap, I couldn't tell you what they were because the taps were generically labeled by style. The music is top 40 pop and R&B. TV screens show the corresponding videos for the songs playing. The staff, from the bouncers to the bartenders and bar backs were all very friendly. If you have a bachelorette party I suggest you go here because it seems like that's what every bride to be was doing the night I was there. I'd say skip it unless you fit the above demos.

As of recently they have $1 house beers on happy hour from 5-8pm on Monday-Thursday. They have an IPA, hef, and a lager. Plus live music the first time we checked it out. Definitely recommend for a chill place to hang out.

So I would just like to show everyone this is the "manager" I spoke to about how the DJ was playing music to loud to the point where my group of friends and I had to leave. It has been an hour & half since I left the club and my ears are still ringing. As I told him, I have been to many shows with big name DJs and never have had my ears hurt this bad. He told me "maybe I should go to a rave" and turned around and started making out with this club girl. I feel like this is extremely disrespectful as a manager of such a renowned establishment and no one should be talked to in the manner he spoke to us. I can understand that he sees me as a clubber who has probably had a good amount to drink, however, that's not the case I only had two before I departed from the club as I was the DD for the night. There is no reason for the music to be so loud and no one should ever be treated the way we were by the manager of this club. I do wish to return another night for a fun outing with my friends and I hope you listen to what I have to say. Thank you for your time. Please refer to the photos I posted of said manger.

These people are totally racist. Every time i go there they try and charge me a cover. Last night the girl tried to make me pay when everyone in front of me did not. She didn't even look at my friend just me because i am African american. And the manager is supposed to be from Hawaii?? I am from Hawaii and this place is far from having any Aloha. Its just a bunch of white trash here. Splash Bar officially lost my business.

I came here for a private work party. We received phenomenal service from the wait staff and bartenders, but I had a hard time getting over the tacky decor. I think it's supposed to look like a beach bar, but it looks more like Sanford & Sons home or a retro shop on Hawthorne. My guess is that it's darker at night when it turns into a club and that you don't notice this so much. We were served a buffet and the meats were all delicious, but the mac salad left something to be desired. I guess I'm just used to it being creamier and white from mayo and not dry and yellow from mustard. However; the egg rolls were the best I'd had in a long time and my meal, as a whole, was very, very good. They serve as tropical drink in a bucket that was fantastic, but you should probably just have one. They also have karaoke, for those people that just have to share their (not always) lovely singing voices. The one issue I had was that the booths are set up on steps. After a drink or so, I can see someone tripping and falling. In fact, when this club was called "Candy" I'd had a spill myself. Not sure who's design concept that was, but raised seating for drunk people isn't the best laid plan. The overall feel I get is that this is a club for people in their 20's....and I'm passed that, but I would come back for happy hour.

Splash bar is Portland's own drunk, fratty, rowdy tiki bar and I hate but love every single minute of it. If you can get over the kitschy decor and vibe (and the abundance of drunk college kids) and not take yourself too seriously, you'll have a blast. The music is fantastic. It's just current top 40 including bit hits from the past 10 or so years that every one knows. Drinks are good, they have fun "shots" and announce shot specials all the time. Good way to spend the night with friends if you're looking for a fun (and loud) night. Not everyone's cup of tea.

Such good music on Friday nights. Fun club! Definitely always have a good time with friends every time we come here on the weekends. Drink waits can be a little long since there's only one bartender at each bar but still, it's fun for dancing!!

Scene: A Tuesday evening. LivingSocial deal in hand. Not much going on here on Tuesdays it seems. A few people sitting at the bar. We were greeted right away and headed over to hit up a free game of pool. Our server was amicable. He wasn't able to suggest popular drinks, but waited patiently while I thought of something to order. The drinks came back quickly. Both the virgin lemonade and Bacardi mango lemonade were much too sweet. Really a hangover waiting to happen. The coconut shrimp were strait out of a frozen package and microwaved up before served to us. They didn't taste that great and only took about 3 minutes from the time we ordered to arrive at our table. The three meat dish (chicken, ribs, and ground mystery meat) with macaroni and rice was a good portion size (enough for two) and tasted pretty good. It was nice that pool was free and was good for a laid back environment mid-week. Happy hour seemed like a decent deal as well. It might be worth checking out during the weekend too. Overall I wasn't expecting much but in the end was decently satisfied.

Horrible customer service last night. Bartender was Super rude and charged me two different prices for the same drink and in a smaller glass. When I told him he, i kid you not said, "pay or get out" Ive been a bartender and a waiter would never respond to a customer as agressive or rude.

Hmm, well I guess if you are a frat boy or a sorority girl who is 22, you might really love this place. But I was so confused when I walked in here - was I still in Portland? The server was super excited to tell us that Bud Light was on special tonight. LOL of all the amazing beers in Portland, this is the big deal of the night?!? I'm sure this place has its audience, but it isn't me...

I've never had a bad time here. That being said...some expectations need to be set. Cheap alcohol and loud music attracts a certain crowd. If you don't want to see that crowd don't come here. I don't necessarily seek them out but I don't mind them either. Cheap booze is cheap booze. More than that all the arcade games are free as well as skee ball. That's enough to get me to swing by if I'm doing a pre-func. This place absolutely becomes a club by 11 or 12. There will be a line. There will be a cover. there will not be enough space for you to move freely. The menu as of a couple of weeks ago has drastically changed. It's Hawaiian now. Truth be told I really miss the old menu. Tacos were actually pretty damn good but they're gone now.

One of my very favorite bars! It is beach themed and the decor inside is very very cool. Great full bar with an additional old VW bus turned into a shot bus. The DJ plays the best dance music and the crowd is always very fun.

First off, this place is a different experience on the weekends than during the week. The place gets a bit crazy on weekends. I heard Dave Chapelle showed up there to party recently. I like to go there during the main week for their good deals and the rather laid-back atmosphere. This place has the best happy hour deals in town. As of this writing, $3 mini-pitchers of domestic beers (like Ninkasi IPA or Widmer Hefeweisen), $4 mini-pitchers of imports (like Stella Artois), and $5 Bacardi bucket drinks. Their happy hour food menu includes dollar tacos. Lasts much longer than your normal happy hour (until 8 or 9 I believe). This is seriously the cheapest deal on microbrew in town. They also have beer pong tables set up (with water - they call it Splash Pong), which is a lot of fun when you have people to play with. It's also the only bar I know of in the area that provides this. Their arcade section (with pool, skee ball, and some cool video games) is free as well, so you can have a skee ball or pool tournament. They have really awesome live music on Mondays and Thursdays. Jordan Harris is a really talented local musician and plays on Thursday evenings. Great music and a fun crowd. They run group pub trivia on Fridays. They also have little boxes of trivia cards throughout the bar that you can use to quiz your buddies at any time. They have some nice TVs set up for your sports viewing pleasure, and during the summer, you can sit outside and they'll turn the TV around to face the outdoor crowd. I've always gotten great service whenever I go in there. Every time I've brought a friend to this place they've loved it. It's got a cool tiki shark bar thing going on. There seem to be several negative reviews about this place, but I maybe get the feeling that most people are quick to post negative reviews, while many who have a positive experience don't bother. I'd urge you to check this place out for yourself, it would be nice to have more people patronize this place during the slower pace of weekday evenings.

Came in around 9:30p on a Saturday night. Only one of the THREE (3) service bars in the place was staffed and serving (with 2 bartenders). The place was not overly busy yet my wife and I stood at the bar, not in a line (which there wasn't), not sat at a table naively expecting a server, but AT the bar for 15 minutes watching others get served, while the bartenders passed by like I wasn't there. Was it that I'm a dude, not an obviously drunk girl ordering another BUCKET of DateRape-A-Ritas? Was it my beard? My tattoos? My friends purple hair? I've worked as a bartender/server for years. I understand a wait for service at a busy bar and I'm pretty patient, but 15 minutes of being obviously ignored is unacceptable. I've never been ignored while standing at a bar. Not once, not ever, not even in The Pearl. After the 5th or 6th "WOO girl" got her bucket, my four friends and I gave up and went across the street to Blitz.

Figure out what you want to be! Are you a family restaurant? A dance club? Sports bar? This is the tackiest bar with sub par food, and it gets trashy at night.

Music? 2 stars Crowd? 2 stars Ambiance? 4 stars Shot Bus? 3 stars I'd say this rounds out to a solid 3 stars. I'm still confused as to why they water down their pineapple juice. :/

Splash Bar reminds me of college. This is where I imagine I would have been hanging out, except the University of Arizona had nothing like this place in 2002. This place is super new, super cool, and super Jetsons looking! I was surprised by the short line when we arrived, and I think the cover was only $5 if I remember right. Reasonable. They had a bar immediately to the left and some super futuristic pod booth thingys to the right that you could sit in....I think. We found a normal booth for humans more toward the dance floor and set up our swag shop there. The dance floor area was pretty rad. They had multi-level floors that I would guess also act as a stage on other nights, and I think they had another bar on the other end. I couldn't see past all the 21 year-olds to be sure though. The dance floor was poppin' off like Kanye West's mouth on this particular evening! If you're a super hip bro or chick and you're looking for some fun with like-minded young strangers, you need to go here. Like, fer sherrrr. I was really glad I brought my out-of-town guests here. They were pretty impressed and I think they'll be back here next time they swing through PDX. The drinks seemed reasonably priced for a nightclub scene, lots of twenty somethings in skimpy outfits, and a cool, Back to the Futuresque bar vibe. You won't need a Delorean to get here though, just come to Portland!

Waitress charged my card $100 for 5 drinks and then said she voided it out. I looked at my other receipt and it was overcharged by $32. As these both happened in the same night, I find this highly suspicious. Outside of the aforementioned questionable actions of overcharging, the place looks pretty cool. Has a cool motif going on inside that reminds me of island fun. The music is extremely loud, so this is the place to go if you're looking forward to yelling at your friend when you're right in their ear. It's loud. And their dance floor is funnish, I guess. My whole experience was tainted by the overcharging that I'm fighting right now with my bank. So, sorry... 1 star.

The decor and atmostphere of this place is pretty cool. I like their "shots van" VW bus that was pretty neat. Also, they have a TON of TVs to catch the latest sports game. We came in last night (Wednesday) to watch the NBA Finals. There was no one in the entire place for quite some time. You would think they would maybe promote a bit more? I mean, it was not crowded and could sit back and watch a game with no problem. Staff was friendly. Reviewed the menu before coming in however and it noted items like - Tacos, Burritos, Wings, etc. Please note that Splash bar handed me a paper printed menu that had NONE of these items. Instead the menu had more or less moroccan/lebonese type foods and sandwhiches. Not a very big menu and certainly not what their website advertises. I was quite disappointed with that. Ordered the hummus which in my opinion was not that great. The drinks were only so-so as well. I might be tempted to come back but they certainly could stand to change a few things

Girl walks in strutting her stuff. Walks like she owns it. Hops onto the make shift stage like she's working it. Oh yeah, she is rightful for that stage. Ten seconds later.... An audible thump and a vibration , not from the speakers but from the floor was felt. Oh, GIRRRRL! What are you doing on the floor?! I have maintained a straight cheerful face until she left. Ke$ha ate two cheeseburgers too many and seemed to have downed two bottles of Jack before going out. Your company would make your night go bright or bust. In addition to having a good night was this place. Why? 1. Cheap drinks. $5 for a Grey G shot. 2. Fake beer pong table. 3. Decent music. 4. Cool doorman/ bouncer. 5. While it looks like a divey Tiki bar, I would go here anytime than that Polynesian themed retirement home.

Our company hosted a networking event at Splash Bar last Friday night. The bar was not the typical set up for an event for business owners/professionals, and that may be why it turned out to be so much fun! The staff were friendly, professional and the bar was cleaned and prepped nicely for the event. There was more than enough space for our group. The DJ was hilarious and did a great job keeping music going that was suitable for the group we had. After our event several of us stayed for some trivia and had a blast! All around it was a great experience and I would definitely recommend the venue for other company's events.

The newest version of this bar takes it to a Tiki? Beach? Mexican Spring Break? style. They have a VW Van complete with a shot menu for you try. The "Real World Portland" cast regularly hangs out here (which can be bad or good depending on who you are). Some good things: 1. Inexpensive strong drinks. (nuff said right there) 2. $1.00 tacos.....all day Tuesdays. The staff here has always been nice and quick on the draw and the space is nice and large. A pretty decent bar menu all and all. Check the website for daily events and specials.

I only go here on the occasional Monday to hear a friend sing, I hope he gets a new venue soon, this place is not good. First, the food is terrible (bland, tasteless, frozen, dry, etc.), the drinks are WAY TOO SWEET and under poured, and the employees are not very friendly (unless he wants to hit on you). Aside from Mondays, I would never willingly go there.

Never again. I would have stopped there but I probably should explain myself before being all uppity! Right. It was a moderately cool evening and I was dressed to the nines (first mistake) for a lovely evening out. As I approached the bar I suddenly felt this weird tingling sensation, I almost felt as though I wanted to shout "DUDE" or start shaking my ass inappropriately saying, "OH MAH GAWD". Instead I went inside and I almost was scared by what I saw. First Impression: I remember thinking, wait a second... that is a lot of crap in one bar. There was a Captain Morgan statue staring at me while a bunch of surf boards were scattered around. An old van was transformed into what they call the "Shot Bar" with, you got it, different flavors of vodka. Mmm. As I continued my oversensory trip, there in the corner a dunk bar with, what I assume to be, recycled play pin balls from McDonalds. Next to this another bar with the kitchen. Summary of the deco is if Cuba puked all over Florida and then was overrun by testosterone driven meat heads from college. The First Drink: I thought, gosh, maybe I should just have a drink and try to forget I am here... as I began to order my drink I noticed the wait staff was very very slow. It took me 10 minutes and a lot of awkward conversations with a dude that probably graduated university in '75 to get my first drink. In a bluish plastic cup. What? I'm sorry, I just paid 6$ for a vodka soda in a plastic cup? It was albeit a strong drink. One star. The Ambiance: My dad's old college buddies that never quite could let go of the fact they no longer seem cool when they are doing shots. Women with low self esteem issues who either dress down (flip flops and drab wear) or too much (honey, your skirt is so short I can see your vagina). The WTF Moment: Definitely when I was sitting outside and suddenly I realized that the MC was shouting at us like high school dances and there was karaoke. Seriously last thing this place needs is a karaoke bar. Serious what the fuck moment when there was a duet from Aladdin's a Whole New World. What?? I'm pretty sure they were those drama geeks in high school that never made it. Well. Over-All Sentence to Summarize: A teenage vacation in Cancun on crack.

Kid friendly before 10pm? I called ahead about a half hour prior to arrival to verify that this establishment was kid friendly and that they weren't too busy. We went around 7pm and the place was packed even the sidewalk was packed. I would not define kid friendly as being surrounded by tons of inebriated individuals.

This place wasn't great when it opened, and has steadily declined since. The decor resembles a seafood restaurant, which doesn't work for a place that is trying to be a night club. The music has never been great, but it is extremely loud, even for a club. You feel the need to get extremely intoxicated once you get inside, in an attempt to enjoy the atmosphere.

For some reason I've been dragged to this bar way too many times. All of the drinks are served in warm plastic cups. Gross. It's always insanely hot in there, especially if there's enough people dancing to pretend you're not having a horrible time. The owner must realize this because you always see him standing outside in the fresh air, poking his head in the window behind the DJ. Speaking of the DJ... he sucks. At least the one that's there most Saturday nights does. He's always playing outdated tracks for entirely too long and cutting the highly danceable, still relevant songs way short. We were there last night (for the last time!) and the dumb girl playing bartender at the back bar overcharged us for a round of drinks. This we confirmed with the bartender at the other bar who comped us another round. Nice of her, but unfortunately too little too late. I'm a happily married woman so it doesn't really matter to me but, ladies: this place is a taco party so if you are hoping to dance with a decent looking guy, prepare for some competition... or boredom.

Three dollar domestic pitchers (they are roughly two pints, but include products like Ninkasi IPA). Wow. You can't beat the happy hour at this place. Let alone the free games and pool. I only came for drinks, but I could see spending a lot more time here than I should.

I always enjoyed Splash. I think their idea of a restaurant by day and overly crowded nightclub was a great idea! But, the two last times and i mean LAST. We're terrible, ive never NOT wanted to return somewhere because of the terrible service. Its really too bad. They should really retrain their Bartenders.

This place seems to be suffering from an identity crisis. I don't really associate Hawaiian food with a bar like this. It is cluttered and tacky. Right by the entrance there is a beer pong table. Felt like I was in a frat house, not to mention that it's completely in the way because it's also a foot away from the bar. I understand some places become much more of a bar scene at night, but it was maybe 830 and they already had a band playing far too loud. The service is so slow. Not only was it understaffed, but the bartender had no sense of urgency despite how many people were trying to order drinks. $9 for a well vodka and Red Bull is way too much. The other drinks were just way too sweet. We got a mixed plate to try the food. It was okay, but I've had better at several different places. Presentation of it wasn't great and I'm used to getting more sauce to add to the rice. Not a huge deal on that, but it's kind of standard. We both really liked the mac salad though. We were at the bar, so we got our food timely, but we watched every time food came out the poor runner looking around and wandering to find the person who's food he had. Clearly the front of house isn't being run right on that front. Maybe it wouldn't be so bad at lunch or if you came in much earlier for dinner, but either way the food is better elsewhere.

Over priced, cover charge we had to pay before 8. Wow really! Bar had to look up how too make there special drinks. People were nice who went to this bar. Waitress went on break at 9 got order wrong never took our drink orders and the only good thing is they messed up order so brought our tables extra chicken baskets for getting it wrong. The thing that saves this place is the people I was with still made me love being here. Hope this helps :-)

Been here a few times... It was an okay experience, but its not really the kind of scene I am used to. Let's just say that Seattle and Oregon are NOT the same! I like the fact that they have a pool table and the shot bus was actually a great idea, but the DJ's aren't very good. Cutting short great songs and playing horrible music, no one can dance to or even knows the words to. I would give it three stars, just because the people were nice and the shot bus was cool. Not my number one spot I would recommend in Oregon though!

Not only was this this place as depressing as senor frog's in Cozumel, but holy cow was the management the most icy unreasonable people on the planet. let's start with the fact that the whole place is dressed up like a tiki bar with too many black lights. Complete with a girls-gone-wild style photographer trying to get pictures of everyone doing outlandish spring break dance moves. Or just posing with their under-dressed girlfriends. I went to get my second drink of the evening (read: painfully sober) and they asked for my ID with my credit card. I complained, but they wouldn't complete my transaction without it. I was there for a bachellorette party and we had enough of sleazy guys rubbing up on the bride to be (one even grabbed her crotch during an especially creepy dance move) and jetted out of the bar. I realized I forgot my card and ID and tried to get back in. BUT LOW AND BEHOLD the line was atrocious and they wouldn't let me up front to duck in and get my ID (and can you believe they asked for my ID to get back into the bar after I explained to them why I needed to get back into the bar??) I chalked it up to miscommunication and thought, well I'll call the bar tomorrow and get it before I drive back up to Seattle. Ok here's where I take a portion of the blame. "tomorrow" was Sunday. thus, bar not open. so I left a voicemail thinking I could work something out with the management to get it sent back to me next week before I'd need it again. we did, after all, bring 15 partying ladies into a total sausage fest bar. No one returned my call so I tried back on Wednesday. A hoarse woman phones me back and explains to me that they can't send me anything for "liability" and that I had to show up in person and retrieve my license and credit card so they could verify my identity. I asked to speak to the owner several times and she refused to put me in touch. her demands were unreasonable and when I offered to send an affidavit or a notarized letter granting her permission to send me the items she refused. My attorney/friend later informed me that she had no legal basis to refuse a notarized letter allowing her to mail the cards back. I realize that this was my fault for leaving the stuff there but the fact that she wasn't willing to entertain any of my suggestions and pleading to mail it back (funded by myself of course) and insisted that I drive the 4 hours there and 4 hours back to retrieve it person is not what I call customer service. If you want people to promote your business you could help a sista out now and then. Not only that, but she was extremely rude and abrupt with me on the phone and became increasingly so as the conversation progressed. As a sidenote, I recognized her area code on her cell phone to be my hometown suburb in Chicago. when I brought it up at the end trying to end on a good note she just turned her nose up and ended the conversation. ok then. You're the jerks that have my drivers license and credit card, but don't mind me, I'm just the review-writing customer. Needless to say here I am writing a horrible review of this bar and the skanky management. And then promptly canceling my credit card and ordering a new ID.

It seemed like a nice place to come on a Thursday night, but I couldn't have been more wrong. The owners have obviously invested in a very fun looking venue (cool shots VW Bus and beer pong tables). However, the fun ends there. The place is just absolutely filthy with a horrifying paper mache swamp of confetti and stale beer covering the floor. And I searched in vain for a surface not covered in liquid (didn't hazard a guess as to the specific type). The true cap to the night was the management and security staff. Both of which seemed to invest so much time in hitting on (and creeping out) the female patrons that I hardly believed they were employees. When your staff is having more fun than the patrons you're doing it wrong. Ownership needs to clean house here in a big way. Until then I won't be back.

Yikes! What was once an upscale club (by PDX standards) is now a tiki-bar-filled-with-kids-and-ugly-decor club. I'm still trying to think of one good thing about this place. I suppose the one star is for the ok music selection. Security and staff need to address the patrons giving lap dances and showing their thongs off in the seating areas. Just trashy. And the picnic tables need to go to. Really? A club with wooden picnic tables? My good money and bootie shaken body will not be back to this place. Ever.

Wow - going here did loads for my self esteem. I got hit on quite a bit, but I was there for the dancing with my girls and dance we did. This bar had such a fun vibe. There were definitely guys that were there to score, but it wasn't too "meat markety". Everyone was just really wanting to have a great time. We walked in rather early on a Saturday night, probably around 8pm. We stopped in for a cocktail and some food. We immediately liked the vibe this place had (and the bartender) and stayed for a few more. By 10pm, the mood was changing, the music was loud and people were starting to dance. There was a also a drunk Irish man drooling on my sister..... The table was taken away and faster than Miley could rock her hips the place turned into a full force night club. We were sucked into the rabbit hole of fun. If a guy is looking for a great place to meet chicks, come here - I think this is a hard stop for bachlorette parties, because there were 3 of them there that night. I will definitely be back for girls night. But on another type of bar, this doubles as a sports type of bar during the day and early evening. The place is loaded with big screens and before the music started we were watching the Timbers game. I have to say, this was a night that went down in the books as one of our best girl nights out.

I tried to enjoy this place, but such a negative experience. They charge a $10 cover on Saturday night, which is steep for what the place is. The shot bus seems cool, but the line is so long it's not worth it (3 songs played before I could get a shot, although only 2 people ahead of me). They also make you give them your drivers license to open a tab with your credit card. Group member left item from her purse at the bar. She called and they confirmed they had small item. Bitchy attitude from worker on the phone and said she needed to drive to Portland to get it. Not even willing to mail it if my friend paid for it all plus a fee. Plus why the nasty phone manners? Sports bar across the street was awesome and way more laid back dance floor.

I heard good things about this bar so i decided to check it out! The way they promote it, it sounds like a poppin' 21+ club for people in their early to mid 20's. However first thing i noticed is the number of older people in the bar! This isn't a real big issue, but not what i was expecting as far as the people and atmosphere! They had pretty decent music from the DJ's, and the drinks were good as well! I will probably be back to the Splash Bar!

This place seems to be the regular destination for pub crawls and meetups. The pool and video games are free, which is a plus. And they have sumo wrestlers as body guards to make sure nobody messin' around in there. Especially with the cheap strong drinks and food, things might get rowdy.

Splash bar is not bad. The place is kinda new so not many ppl know about it. It has a good location being right across the street from blitz. They do have late night dancing, and good drink specials. Gonna be a hella fun place to go to when summer comes around.

I didnt even get through the front door before the chubby girl with the black hair who claimed to be the owner made me want to leave. As someone who is well recognized, and who the other VIP hosts and the bouncers knew, I experienced the absolute rudest "owner" or hostesss, "claiming" to be an owner, that I have ever met. I can tell right away that while they may have a good concept, they do NOT have the best location and are FARTHEST from having the right people(thus the b***h claiming to be an owner) that I have ever been around. I was with 5 other people who left just as soon as the 4 people in front of us in line left because she was so self-riteous. I hope to GOD that they change the owner & this H** is outta the picture because I feel ashamed that any FEMALE who acts like that should ever run a place; she is giving all FEMALES a bad name. Besides myself, any others I have been associated with(I work thru a modeling agency, so that is a LOT) will never return so long as she is around. This place is as well as cursed to fail as Candy was (but at least we all liked the people wprking at Candy) considering not just former reviews but also considering my and my friends experiences.

I had a way wicked fun time out with friends here before going out for a night on the town. I loved the look and feel of the place, all kinds of things to look at and is kept very clean. The staff was very friendly and helpful for those that do not know the menu. Our server made all of us all crack up while we were ordering and throughout our meal and was flexible with the things we wanted. The food is great here and they even have dancing and free game play days here too. Looking forward to going out with friends again, we are already planning for the Splash Bar again for sure.

Great bar. Super nice owners, fun vibe, friendly staff. Try the chicken wrap- amazing. More for the 20s and 30s crowd but I didn't totally feel out of place.

I recently tried to get into this place and was profiled as a gangmember because I'm black. The gentleman at the door acted as if everything was ok before he pulled me aside and made several racist remarks to me. He said "There has been a lot of shooting, stabbing and robbing downtown, And it's not the white people doing it"...I was devastated. I said "what?" In disbelief and shock of what he was saying, he went on to say "yeah. Talk to your homeboys"... I've never felt more humiliated and embarrassed in my life. The doorman also looked as if he could have been under the influence of cocaine....I asked the gaurd if he wasn't letting me in because he's profiling because Im black? He said "yes"...the splash lounge is racist.

The decor in this place is ridiculous. It's terrible and has no theme. Good space/Good location, but terrible idea putting this type of bar here. People wonder why there are a weird mix of young/old people here.... it's because it's in the middle of the Pearl, where no 21 year-olds live. You might be able to pull the young Banana Joe's crowd here once or twice, but I'll give this place a year at the max. I'd love to see a sweet neighborhood bar similar, if not exactly like "North 45" go in here with outdoor seating both on 9th and Couch. The Pearl, full of it's cougar bars and brew pubs, doesn't have hardly any of that... YET.

Another bad experience brought to you by Splash Bar. I would give negative stars if I could! My first bad experience was back in February. I called about 10 minuets before showing up to find out what the cover charge was, the guy who answered the phone told me he "thought" it was $5 but didn't know. Who doesn't know how much it cost to get into their own place of work. Then he proceeded to ask me how many were in my party (2 girls) and then told me he would take care of our cover, just let the person at the front know. When we got there I did just that, but the guy at the desk treated me like I was dumb, and told me there was no one there by that name, and said that they didn't do that there. When I said I had just called, he said he didn't know where that person was and couldn't go find them. It would have been fine had the guy on the phone hadn't told me he would pay for us to get in. Second and last bad experience I will ever have there happened just last Saturday night. A group of me and 4 other girls went there to celebrate 2 of our friends birthdays. We went early to have dinner before it turned into a club, and then were planning to stay to dance the night away. They didn't have anyone on staff to service the people sitting at the tables, we weren't the only ones. We ordered 2 rounds of drinks, and burgers/sandwiches, we gave one card to hold our tab. When we finished we wanted to square up our tabs before it got to busy. We went up to the bar, the guy bartender was a complete ass when I tried to ask why our bill was so much. They charged us $12 for white Russians (we had ordered 6 total) in double old fashion glasses. I have NEVER paid $12 for one in any bar in Portland. It was more expensive than the Long Island one of us ordered. They also charged us for an appetizer they told us they were going to comp because they forgot about it. Not only was the male bartender an ass the female bartender who was told to take care of us, was rude as well. After we got traded off to a third person to take care of us, we were informed that we didn't give them all the cards, which we had. They found it a few minuets later on the floor behind the bar. Needless to say we will not be returning!

Had a blast here. I'd have to say that all the people here are cool and classy. Really like the shot bus and the decor is nice and neat. The drinks and the tacos were really good, one of the staff left a conversation to assist and stayed for a moment to chat. Next time I'm in Portland, I will definitely be back here for sure.

Decent time if you want to dance, but you don't want to get any numbers from here. Let alone admit you were here... twice.

high priced drinks. 20 something crowd DJ and a pumped up vibe makes this place fun. Multiple bars in a super small space means you will usually get a drink fast. If you want to hook up you should have no problem but yourself here.

The main purpose of my review is for other 30-something, married couples who may have thought "Hey, we should check out that new place, Splash, in the Pearl with some friends." ... the place is not what you think. I hadn't been to whatever was in the space before, but the entire place gave me the impression that someone had purchased what appeared to be a "classy" club, kept all the furniture, but decided to turn it into what I can only describe as a TIKI PUB. Like some Hawaiian tchotchke shop threw up all over the walls, while weirdly modern leather seats and booths made up VIP-looking areas. Very weird. We had met 2 other couples, and it was early so the place was pretty empty, and we were all amused enough at the kitchy dance club we had all somehow deliberately agreed to meet at - we decided to stay for a drink. And speaking of - it was happy hour... from 5-10.... on a Saturday night. And the beers were like $2-3. The surfer looking bartender (who btdubs, was pretty nice) brought us some hot chips and informed us of the "salsa bar" at the counter behind us. Seriously, we were very out of place among the Forever21 "dressed-up" girls and a hipster in an oversized suit at the bar. BUT, we all agreed that $2 Coors light before spending a fortune on martinis somewhere else had actually kind of worked out. We also agreed that 2 more beers and we'd be convincing each other to stay until the dancing started. So we left. But on the way out a young guy at the door was like "Whaaa? I KNOW you're not leaving! You're all coming back for the dancing, right?" Probably not, but you almost had us Splash Bar, you ALMOST had us.

Stupidly left my credit card and ID there over night. Came back the next night and they LOST IT. Apparently the waitress, which seemed really young and incompetent, left them out on the register and now they're GONE. One of the owners found the receipt with no signature and told me he'd charge me for the one drink (i know, so stupid to get one drink and leave a card open for THIS) and a 20% tip! Yeah great along with the money it will cost to get a new ID and the time and all. THANK YOU SPLASH BAR. I never liked the place to begin with! BAD IMPRESSION.
