Welcome to Eliot, Slice PDX! Like many neighbors who frequent the other businesses on this block, we were eager for this place to open. I happened to pop in on their second day of business and had a great experience. My boyfriend and I chose the personal pizzas and Double Mountain Kölsch. I opted to build my own with an olive oil base, the house cheese mix, along with artichokes and black olives. It was not greasy or heavy and was the perfect size. I had a bit to bring home with me and I'm happy to report that it reheats well. The house pizzas were not your usual finds and included some favorite toppings like peaches, potatoes, and leeks. Yum! Le boyfriend chose The Fremont, with some sausage, bacon, and veggies. Best believe I'll be stopping in for their 11:30-4 lunchtime special of a slice + salad for $6.50. Speaking of slices; you know how you roll into a pizza joint and if you just want a slice, you have to choose from whatever they have ready, no matter how long it's been sitting there? Not this spot! Slices are made to order, as long as they are red sauce-based. I believe it is only for the house 'zas, so check with them for more info. Rad! There was a steady flow of folks wandering in and the staff handled the crowd well. The blonde gal (forgive me for forgetting your name)! took the time to chat about the menu and ingredients with us. She also gave us a sample of the kombucha on draft, which was a refreshing coconut oolong. The chalkboard lists their drinkies. On tap, they feature the Double Mountain Kölsch, Gigantic IPA, Rev Nat's Cider, and Happy Mountain Kombucha. If you're in the mood for a cheapie, there is a Rainier tall boy for 2 bucks with your name on it. Other refreshers included San Pellegrino and Mexican Coke. Although not listed on the board initially, there is a house red and white available at $5 for a generous pour. Growlers are available for the draft items. Slice shows lots of promise for a great neighborhood pizza place. The only things that could use some tweaking would be things that will likely improve as they settle in, such as decluttering the counter areas, ventilating the building a little better (as it was a little smoky), and having a more polished menu presentation. Some simple luminaries might warm up the tabletops, as well. Go try this place! They are happy to be here and we are happy to have them.

went again last night - had a slice and a pint. i still say the pizza is pretty good. the counter service is still off - was hoping it would get better as they work out the kinks...but it's still just "meh" not terribly friendly. lots of people in the kitchen in the back - but not very responsive at the counter. I had to ask the server to fill my pint... ordered a double mountain vaporizor - and he handed it to me with about 3 inches of foam. he filled it without incident - but short pours suck! i'm still rooting for this place - I like the space, I like that it's mellow, the pizza is good, the tap selection is solid. front counter servers need to be friendlier - and no short pours!

Good neighborhood pizza place. Good beer on tap, and good pizza. Thin-ish crust, with a ton of good toppings and you can get even a slice with anything you want. So all the pizza is custom and hot. Nice little spot and not very busy.

I loved this place! The pizza was a nice thin style crust with lots of tasty sauce. The toppings they offer are delicious, artichoke hearts anyone? The young gentleman who served me was perfect, very friendly and efficient. He was so kind even though I had a very complicated order, and everything arrived just the way we wanted. Thanks Slice! We'll be back.

3.5 stars Much improved dough. A little too much corn meal on the bottom but it's now a recommendable take out spot.

Family review. We sampled a few of their pies including the Prescott and the Fremont. Both were great 3 year old-so good it tastes like macaroni and cheese 11 year old- I didn't like it, I loved it. 14 year old- good crust and an impeccable red sauce 39 year old- the crust was beautiful, light and crispy and the sauce had something special about that Turned out to be garlic butter on the crust The kale salad was good. No drinks besides alcohol and coke and peligrino and kombucha. No dessert. Nice place to take the family. Everyone can get a slice their way but at 4.50 per slice it's not cheap but their ingredients all top notch.

I really enjoy this local spot. Their pizza topping combos are unique and tasty. My go-to's are The Prescott and The Fremont. There's never a line (I think most of the locals, myself included, order for takeout.) i want to give it 5 stars because I hope it sticks around but docking a star for inconsistency from order to order. Always the same ingredients but sometimes its better prepared/cooked than other times.

I was so stoked to see that a new pizza place had opened by my place, and with a cute location and store front I was sold on the look of it alone. Right now I'm eating a slice. Here are my thoughts in order of how they occurred to me: I walked in to order a slice and saw no slices in a case for me to view and select. I was confused and stood there while the person working the counter greeted me. I had to think of what to say, so I mustered "do you sell slices to go?" as my question collided with the name of this place, Slice. "He said sure what do you want?" Um. Idk, I don't see what slices I can order. So I just say pepperoni, because it's always good. I ordered it and they made it to order, then baked it fresh. I think cool concept, but that's not really gonna tell people theres slices that can be ordered to go, or what they offer. I like viewing my slices in a case and knowing what I am getting. I got my slice and walked out. Everyone was pretty nice, so that's not an issue. I opened up the slice and...I saw a cafeteria pizza slice from my High School days looking back at me, complete with little tiny circular pepperoni's, grease puddles and white cheese. I was pretty disappointed. The taste was not so great. Sauce tasted canned, and the pepperoni and cheese were there, but not popping with flavor. All in all I'm kind of disappointed, but with any new place things can improve. So let's root for Slice, and hope they can switch a few things around and stay foot in the neighborhood because good pizza is always a blessing to be had. Update- got a passive aggressive message from whomever monitors their yelp account. Guess slice can't handle a review. Oh well.

We've been here several times now. Always good pizza, tasty beers on tap, and friendly service. Outdoor seating is always a positive too!

This place is great. Reasonably priced and great thin-crust pizza. Prosciutto and arugula is my fave. The night I was there I was helped be the manager and Victoria. Great staff. I'll be back.

It's an okay place to go for a slice of pizza and a beer as they always have great selections on tap. The slices are all made to order, using a basic pre cooked cheese slice as the base and then they add toppings. The crust seems to always be a little too overdone (like a thick overcooked cracker). The salads are good, but nothing special.

I had a rather stressful day and was feeling a little angsty about my place in the world and this pizza was like delicious gluton therapy. So good, was piping hot when brought over to my table, had just the right amount of grease, crust was perfect with perfect balance of thinness and puffiness. The wait was a little longer than most pizza joints but it was worth it.

Yep yep. This new entry into the uber competitive pizza game has got legs man. When my organization orders pizza for staff events, we usually have Mississippi deliver to us. That's pretty far away, yet their pizza is undeniably delicious. Slice PDX is right up there with Mississippi and they're just a block away. Thin style gourmet crust with really fresh ingredients. That's the way I like mine. I'll be campaigning to have them feed our next staff event. Cooked to order process...no slices sitting around getting dry, so call it in!

We had been excited about this place since we first started seeing the signs go up as we meandered around our neighborhood. Of course, the moment we saw it open for business, we stopped by. Let me say that the people running the front of the house are very nice and seemed to care that we had a good experience. we had an issue with one of our pizzas and they replaced it with a bigger one. However, I can't recommend the place for dining just because of the nice people working there. The thing that kept coming into my mind when I was eating the pizza, and after, was "It's not delivery, its DiGiorno". Unfortunately, thats not a compliment. On one of the pizzas they had a very copious amount of cheese, but other than that, the other toppings are very sparse. The sauce is not remarkable. The crust is far below what you can find in other areas. They did have 2 beers, a cider and kombucha on tap. Maybe your mileage will vary, they did have a pretty reasonable slice + beer happy hour deal. PS., the extra big pizza? the babysitter seemed pretty happy about us gifting it to her.

I've been twice and perhaps because I'm an older gentleman I've been ignored or not served. I ordered, waited, they brought the wrong pizza. A young couple that came in after me were offered that pizza free, something not offered to me. I waited another 20 minutes. I realize that Portland is young but I've lived in this neighborhood for 20 years. The first time I was in I also received bad service, but they were brand new, gave them the benefit of the doubt. So young people - someday you'll be over 50, wonder how the world will treat you? Age/race/orientation discrimination is not a joke Slice.

I was looking forward to this new eatery in our neighborhood. I went as soon as they opened. Yes, really nice folks running it. But... Slices aren't baked as a pie, which you then view and choose. Instead, you choose which slice from the menu and they add toppings to an already baked slice and they warm it in the oven. Odd. Prices are high compared to other close-by pizza places. And unfortunately, not as tasty. Flavor, texture & dough thickness was close to Starkys. For a higher price. Life of Pie or Whole Foods pizza I ( and my 14 year old) prefer. Bummer, I wanted to like this pizzaria.

Tried this place twice since its in the neighborhood. Very disappointing slices, it made me hurt inside and it's too much money for what you get. It's a rad place, but my roommates and I gave up on going back. Also, both times I've gone in- it seemed, unwelcoming with the staff- maybe because we were the only ones there or just bad days.

It's new to my neighborhood and I had high hopes! Disappointed. I hope they keep working on their recipes, especially the crust.

Delicious pizza from a locally owned and operated restaurant. Beer by the pint, pitcher or custom growler. Kombucha on tap! Yum- this is just what this neighborhood needed!

Needed a quick dinner option and since Slice opened, I have been meaning to go over and check it out. Not being a fan of the "slice" when eating pizza, I ordered a full pizza and was not disappointed. Tasty, thin and buttery, the crust was just as I love it, reminiscent of a Shaky's Pizza from my childhood (who remembers Shaky's!?). I went with the olive oil base, so I can't say how the sauce tastes. But the toppings and cheese were perfectly balanced, and it was a very tasty pie. I can't think of anything I would change. Although the menu's basic pizzas are very much in the "artisan pizza" realm (cabbage and peaches), the ability to build your own pizza means you can get what you want. I really enjoyed the pizza, and I can't wait to go back and hang out in the restaurant for a beer.

This place is fantastic for a local pizzeria. Does it compete with Portland's top places IMO (lovely 50-50, hot lips, apizza scholls, kens artesian pizza)? Almost. While whole foods pizza is decent, I would put Slice ahead if it in terms of quality. And if you think you are going to get a slice made from scratch, who does that? If I lived in deep SE or SW Portland would I travel 30 min for the pizza. Eh...maybe not. But this place is on a higher level than sparky's and is perfect for anyone within 5-10 min driving distance. Support your local businesses that deserve it!

This place deserves some props. Thin crispy crust pizza with some interesting toppings that work. Can't go wrong with their street named pizzas. The peach, garlic, and fennel is something special. Chefs take time and seem to care about making the perfectly cooked pizza

Great pizza! Classic style medium crust, cheesy and good sauce. Not a wood-fired oven thin crust style. This is real pizza. Growler fills available, only 4 taps (1 cider). Small place. I like to order take-out and wait for it with a beer. Great addition to the neighborhood.

This place has really gone down hill since they opened and it is a dang shame. They were the best pizza I had had in years, but they're definitely experiencing some problems with consistency and a high employee turnover rate. I have yet to see the same employee in there twice, and we order a pizza at least once a week. The pizza itself might be made of quality ingredients, but that's about all that's remained the same. The crust is super inconsistent, and we have definitely gotten burnt pizzas a couple of times. We've also gotten pizzas that the edge of the crust is completely inedible because of bubbles that had been popped that burnt in the oven. The sauce while still good, isn't always the same. Something definitely changes about that almost every time. It's still a nice place with decent pizza, but it's not the great place it was a few months ago. They did get outside seating which is nice.
