I stopped by here briefly between my 1st and 3rd stops of the night just because it popped up on Google Maps and I wasn't quite sure what it was. It was nice! The staff seems very down-to-earth and friendly. The service was a liiiitle on the slow side, but it was also a busy night. It was clean and well-lit, bathrooms included. A nice variety of beers, though most on the hoppy side. A very enticing menu offering things from artisan cheese plates with baguette to spicy mac and cheese as well as burgers and sandwiches. As the second stop of the night, I merely tried the artisan cheese plate and was not disappointed. It was served with olives, apple slices, honey, drizzled olive oil, baguette slices, and generous portions of 3 different cheeses. It went nicely with the cream beer I had. The food in general appears to have a nice focus on quality. The menu itself includes the full names of the head chef and sous chef, etc. I will definitely return in the future to try other menu items and will update my review accordingly.

I have been going to Sasquatch for awhile now and I have never been disappointed. The staff are all very genuine and asking for a recommendation is never a bad idea. All the beer is great and they have something for every type of beer drinker. I love their poutine (bacon-gravy doesn't hurt) and their pickled goods plate is great too. Recently ordered a keg from them for our wedding and it was super easy. Got the tap/keg rental no problem and the beer was a big hit. Marco was a great help when dealing with the order.

I will be back for the beer, before I am back for the food. Two of us dined here last night since it's in our neck of the woods, we were really hoping for a new place to start going to, but it looks like we will just be back for maybe an appetizer and a beer next time. A friend recommended us here, so we ordered the buttermilk fried chicken (sub the potatoes for fries) and I had the burger in a lettuce wrap. Both of our fries were undercooked. I love good fresh cut fries so this was a bummer! The burger was underwhelming, nothing new, nothing special. Good burger meat though and it was cooked well I suppose! The host that was running around was a nice young man and our server Taylor was nice as well, no problems there. When my boyfriend took his last bite of the chicken he said it was "watery" this boy eats everything- even my cooking (which is terrible) so for him to complain was a bit odd. Again, such a bummer because it's a cute little place, great outdoor seating, easy parking across the street or on the street, etc... maybe we just came on a bad night? Darn!

This is a small little place, makes it pretty comfortable to grab a pint and chow down on their burgers. Maybe it was today or it's always this way but there were a large amount of children under 5. If kids aren't your thing(like me) you may want to be cautious. Can also get crowded because it's so small and the parking kinda stinks.

I was super impressed with this place! I didn't expect much when it came to food because I thought this place is probably only and all about the beer, boy was I wrong. Let me just start by saying we arrived early and checked the menu outside for quite a while trying to make a decision. And I was hesitant because a lot of the foods on the menu reminded me of southern delicacies, and these delicacies are easily and almost always done wrong. Fried chicken at many restaurants I have been to is often over cooked and too greasy, and mac and cheese can often times be dry and lack a good consistency in the cheese. NOT THE CASE! The food was BOMB. That is good if you can't tell already. lol. Mac and Cheese was so good I was wishing that we didn't split it! It has a spicy breadcrumb that really hits the spot and for ONE dollar you can add bacon, and it ain't some flimsy pieces of bacon- or god forbid (Baco's) it's actually thick flavorful chunks of bacon! The noodles were spiral shaped and cooked to perfection, cheese was silky and full of flavor! It was a bit overpriced, that's why we split it 8 bucks without bacon.. All of the prices were a bit steep for my blood. But I won't lie, it's so good I will most likely pay it again very soon. So, onto the chicken. It came with 4 tiny fingerling potatoes which were a great touch. The chicken, because we were again splitting it, and because it was again like 14 bucks so yeah, we had to, comes with 3 pieces of buttermilk chicken with fingerling potatoes and country gravy. The waitress was kind enough to let us pick the pieces. I asked for two thighs and a breast, so we could split the breast up. When she brought it out, I couldn't really tell because of the gravy and crispy skin but I thought there were two wings and two breasts but then I realized after careful examination that she had cut up the breast for us already so we could split it up easier- which was super awesome of her. The chicken was probably the best chicken I have EVER eaten. It was incredibly moist, the skin was PERFECT, not over cooked, not too greasy, but crunchy and just enough grease to give it that fried chicken taste! The gravy was awesome and there was a good amount of it and the potatoes were in the gravy, not many potatoes but they were awesome and we split everything soo maybe that's why I thought I wanted a little more but to be honest I was full and I split the meal so I will stop bitching. The cider- Ok, I got a flight. It was 14 and it came with 8 samples. 14 is a little high for a flight but it was doable. The ciders were amazing. One tasted like jalepeno, one was 10% alcohol (actually they were all pretty high!) The quality of the ciders was HIGH. I loved them all. There were a few that were light and crisp and a few that had strong bourbon tastes. All and all, a great enough experience that I would like to go there again tomorrow haha or right now, is it still open?! Other interesting things on the menu: I really really wanted a soft pretzel, it comes with honey and mustard! I am a HUGE fan of pretzels, they were 2 for 6 or one for 4, a little high again, you can get these at McMenamins for half the price, but I haven't seen how big they are yet because the waitress said there weren't any yet when we ordered. So, maybe next time! Another interesting thing that we would like to try next time was the kimchi pickles.

I've been here a few times over the past several years, and I feel like it just keeps getting better and better. Sasquatch is now my go-to place in Hillsdale. I can't comment on their beers, but they had 8 ciders on tap last time. 8 ciders. I got a bigger flight than I can get at Bushwhackers, which is a dedicated cider bar. Plus, Sasquatch pours Cider Riot (a local cidery), which is a huge plus. Holy awesome. As for food, it's well done for pub fare. I had the olive oil poached albacore salad, and I really enjoyed it. My friend had the house-made veggie burger (beets and black beans!) and she loved it. The ambiance is family friendly, but spread out enough that you don't feel overwhelmed by other people. Service is nice. Give it a shot!

Met their lovely crew on a night out a few weeks back during a night out at our bar and the wife and I came in to check out the Sasquatch homestead today- Service was extra friendly and attentive. Waters were kept full, lots of smiles and generally some of the friendliest service I've had in town. Beer was great, we literally tried eleven different beers and although some rose above the cowd (summer ale , stout, the terrific Belgian, and the vanilla bourbon creme ale) all were really tasty, properly hopped without kicking you in the forehead. We liked them so much we're planning on adding one to our tap list. Food. Was. Excellent. Cheese of the day/ check. Meat of the day/ check. Happy hour burger well done/ check. Pickle plate/ check. (Bonus points on the pickled mushrooms!) Beet fritter/ check. (Bonus points for fantastic plating and creativity!) So everything we ordered was so good we ordered chef's choice on the next plate and the beautifully plated brisket that arrived blew our britches off! Jesus, that was nice... I'll be salivating over the memory of that one all summer... We'll be back, and we're bringing friends! Wow. Really Big Wow. Job well done and we're darn picky! Thank you friends for the afternoon delight!

Went here on a Tuesday evening for dinner, and only had a short wait. The atmosphere was casual. Food menu is not complicated. They have a options for apps, small plates, and a few entrees. The Ahi salad that my daughter is one of her favorites. My wife ordered the veg burger. The burger was very good, beets and beans made up the composition and had a nice texture. I had the small plate buttermilk fried chicken with fingerling potatoes. The chicken was very tasty, with a light batter. The beer and cider are excellent. Worth the stop whether your eating or not. The only negative is that it is loud in the dinning area. Not a deterrent for us but if your looking for a quiet place, this is not it.

Small yet classy place. Definitely a good vibe when you walk in the door. Their beers seem on point thought I didn't try them all. A cool staff that is prompt and has personality. A good spot to stop at for a beer in the summer heat!

Came here tonight for dinner. Man, it was not worth the wait. The wait alone was about 30 minutes for 4 people. Granted we did stop by for dinner and drinks on a Saturday around 7p.m., but sheesh! We all ordered the three piece chicken, with potatoes and gravy meal. Some how mine only had two pieces of chicken. We quickly informed the server and they were quick to correct the issue. While the beer and food were delicious, I was just so unimpressed with the service, wait, prices, and parking (that is a story in itself) that I don't really plan on ever returning any time soon and that bums me out because I really want to like this place. FYI: parking can be tricky, be prepared to park on a side street, also, prices are inexplicably high for a brew pub, guess it's because of the west hills neighborhood.

The atmosphere is casual but classy. The employees were welcoming and very attentive. Parking is a challenge but...worth it! Now most important thing the food. The food is outstanding the have something for everyone. Who could not love a restaurant with categories like beer or meat f the day! Good place for family or to grab a bite with friends. The have a nice selection in beer and hard cidrss, entrees and wonderful desserts.

I'm torn between 3 and 4 stars for Sasquatch. Haven't had the food yet, so this review is on the beers and service. Location is hard to get to unless you know the area well, everyone I know who has been there, and myself, has missed the turn to get here and had to go on an odyssey to get to the street/parking lot/front door. Did a taster of all they had on tap. The beers are pretty average, but with some ambition at least. The imperial IPA finishes so sweet that it doesn't have the bitterness impact that the pale ale carries. The IPA is good, but I'm a sucker for Centennial hops. Also, good to have a Belgian style beer on regular rotation, so credit for that. The rest of the beers don't stand out in the least. Service was decent, not a long wait to get menus and water, but after being served the waitress didn't check on us again and had to be flagged down get our tab. More interested in talking with the regulars, perhaps. Probably most worthwhile if you live in this immediate area, which isn't full of brewpubs or tap rooms. Hit it if you live in the area or are in the neighborhood.

This place it good. We've been twice now. We've had their beet fritters, kimchi deviled egg, beer can chicken, pretzels, fried chicken & gravy and roasted pork shoulder. Everything is excellent. My favorite has been the roasted pork it is served with a killer cornbread and greens both my husband and I love it. I am also pleased with the kids cheeseburger which is a fresh patty served on a nice pillowy bun. The fries are twice fried actual potatoes. Oh and the brews, very good and lots of selection. This place is a must if you're in the neighborhood.

Sasquatch is a a much needed island of beery goodness in a neighborhood sorrily under served by decent pubs and restaurants. The fact that the place is usually packed at the dinner hour testifies to this fact. I usually eat in the bar area because, well, a brewery is like a pub to me, and it seems appropriate. The beers are decent. The Woodboy Dry Hopped IPA is respectable, but not exactly spectacular. It'd probably be considered stellar in most parts of the country, but this is Portland--the finest IPAs available to humanity are all around us. You have to be pretty amazing to impress in this town. What I really like is the Moby Dick Double IPA. At 10.2%/90 IBUs it packs a nice hoppy punch. This is my go to at this place. I can't speak for the stouts and whatnot. I'm an IPA guy. Sue me. The food is decent. I usually get the grass fed beef burger or the seasonal burger, which are always pretty good. It's a brewery, so if you're expecting a fine dining experience, or a hipster Portland foodie experience you may be disappointed. But if you expect pub food, it's pretty high end in that genre. I'm glad this place is here.

This place is well worth the visit. I rarely hangout on the SW side of town, but my new girlfriend lives there and we were hungry one night and wanted something that foodies would appreciate. There really isn't much going on when you decide at 10:30pm, that you're hungry on this side of town. The first thing I thought was Fryer Tuck's, whose fried chicken is pretty good, but they shut the fryer down at 11. My lady mentioned going to Sasquatch before, so I looked up their menu online and was seriously drawn in on what they had going on. Unfortunately I was looking at the full menu, which stops at 10 I think. HH menu was still in effect, so we went. Service: Very good Ambience: Extremely inviting and mellow. More of a 30-something crowd Parking: not a whole lot Food quantity: average Food quality: above average (the African Peanut Soup stands out)(Lots of healthy options) They close up at midnight so start a little early.

Just had dinner here tonight. * Beer delicious. Stout was fabulous! * Appetizers good, but over-priced for what it is. * Dinner, DO NOT GET THE HANGER STEAK!!!!! Way too salty. Marinated too long and too much going on with everything else. Miso grits was good, but not enough of it and overpowered by the creole sauce. My wife's veggy burger was good though. Atmosphere was nice and cozy, but friggin loud. Acoustic panels helped a bit, but still yelling to have a conversation. I hope this place makes it so other cool pubs and restaurants come over to the deep west side of town from the hip east side. fingers crossed.

4.75 Overall. Great service from Emily and great food. Good selection of in house beers and local ciders. Emily was our host. Wine list looked weak but who goes to a brewery for wine? Had a flight of beer and a flight of cider, which were a great value ($1/3oz). Oh and the parking is lot muddy (so don't wear nice shoes.)

Worst service in the city. Waiters try and over charge on the bill and stand off about it.

Oh Sasquatch, one of only two reasons I miss living in the SW. This place is a real treasure. Their happy hour is really great, as are just about all their beers on tap (I'm a fan of their hairy knuckle stout). The food is good, the people are nice, and it's a pretty laid back place. Some times the wait staff can be a bit distracted and seating is kind of a bitch but none of that deters from the enjoyment you'll get as you stuff your face with great food and beer. Go here. They are good people.

Great IPA and grass fed Burger - I'm a happy camper! First time here! Friendly and responsive service by Cassandra! Quaint setting with indoor and outdoor seating! Many craft beers made here! The Woodboy Dry Hop IPA with Centinnial hops and Cascade dry hops after primay fermentation was one of the "best around Portland" for this "hop head" (ABV 6.8%, IBU's 74)! House made sauces, hand cut fries and organic / local greens with cranberry & walnuts was very good! Grass fed burger was awesome! Desserts made in house sounded great but we were too satisfied to try. Will come back! A good time was had by all! Sasquatch is a cool gastropub you need to try!

  • Maria W.

They do basics really well -- the grass-fed beef burger is hands-down delicious in all ways, the french fries are yum. The cider selection (order a "flight" so you can try all 8 at once) is WAY tastier than their own beer (and I don't even normally care for cider). It is DEFINITELY family-friendly during the early dining hours when the parents are out in droves, and that's great, if you're a parent. They have a basket of Etch A Sketches n' dinosaur toys to keep your kids happy and entertained at the table. The Mac & Cheese is excellent, and the fried kimchi pickles HAVE to be tried. Prices are moderate ($11 for a burger and fries at dinner, most appetizers are $4-$6, pint of cider around $5). There hasn't been anything we tried that was sub-par or just "okay" except the beer. Everything is a cut above.

TLDR: The only reason to go here is because there are so few good options in SW Portland. If this place was in inner NE, competing with HUB, 5th Quadrant, and Tasty and Sons, it would be out of business in a week's time. When we arrived, we ordered a delicious-sounding blackberry stout. Instead of being served out of a tap, the bartender grabbed a pitcher of beer and poured it into a pint glass. The beer, not surprisingly, was far from cold. Not off to a good start. The waitstaff was very friendly and helpful when it came to ordering. Our table got two burgers, a kale caesar salad, and a vegetarian hash. The burgers and fries: particularly uninspired The kale caesar salad: a fun take on the salad, by substituting kale for the ordinary romaine. The vegetarian hash: almost no flavor. Bottom line: If you live in SW, your options are pretty limited. Hopefully, over time, Sasquatch will get better. But when compared to so many of Portland's other, plentiful pub-style restaurants, it is clear that Sasquatch is a minor-league option.

Found this place after searching Yelp for dinner options on the way home from a shopping trip at Washington Square. Glad we did! I mean, how can you go wrong with this: "Sasquatch Brewery is a family-owned brewpub that strives to support local and sustainable farmers. We exclusively use local, fresh, never frozen grass fed beef, Northwest-sourced seafoods, cage-free eggs, and 100% hormone-free dairy products." It's a cute place on a busy road with a small parking lot across the street. When we arrived it was pretty quiet but after half an hour it filled up (mainly families) and had people waiting for a table. Get there early for dinner! We were pleased to see a few vegetarian options and interesting things on the menu (Deep Fried Kimchee Pickles). Here's what we ordered: - Veggie Burger: Beet and Black Bean Patty, Avocado Relish, Sprouts, Cheddar (really tasty!) - Goat Cheese Gnocchi: with English Peas, Cherry Tomatoes, Pistachios, Tarragon Truffle Oil (good) The highlight of our meal was the dessert special: Warm Rhubarb Upside Down Cake. This was absolutely delicious! I would have licked the plate if I was at home. Tempting. Now for their brews. Hubby had a glass of the Woodboy Dry-Hopped IPA, Red Electric IRA, Celilo CDA, Moby Dick Double IPA and the Hairy Knuckles Stout. He said they were all good. I had a glass of the OR-7 Amber Ale and really enjoyed it. Malty and very easy to drink. Atmosphere was nice, service was friendly and laid-back, food was great and the beers were very good. We'd definitely come back for more. Note: Increasing my score to 5 stars. We ate here again and the service and food was excellent. Loved the Bertha Brown Ale. This place has become one of our favorite brewpubs!

Came for after dinner beer and dessert. My husband sampled several of their craft beers. I enjoyed one called the Berry Goldwater and we tried their Banoffee pie. The different craft beers went quite nicely with the pie. Next time we'll try some of the small plates. Nice, relaxing and close by for us.

Located in a really great Hillsdale neighborhood. I love the newness and niceness of this location. I went for a quick happy hour with my boss. I had actually had their beer before at an off site party. Not bad. I'm not a beer fan, but hey!!! I liked it. At this visit I ordered a cider and some fries. Great cider. Nice tall glass. The server was quite friendly. His hair was loner than mine and in dreads!!! Very entertaining. The fries were great!! I'm not a fan of dipping. They do serve a mustard chipotle type dip and also regular ketchup. If that works for you, I'm sure you'll like it. I like plain no dip fries. ha ha ha We sat in the bar which is somewhat small, but cozy. They have a restaurant that appears quite large. Can't wait to go back.

Simply a gem! This place is more than beer, it's an experience. The diverse palette of brews are only the beginning, their food is also exceptional. The kimchi fried pickles add a fresh kick to the beer tasting. I had the small fried chicken plate and was pleasantly surprised. This is not your average bar food. There is obvious care and skill behind their selection of food and drink A must-visit brewery in Portland!

I got the buttermilk fried chicken, and I thought it was ok. It's not as tasty as I thought it would be. It's just a normal fried chicken to me. I wouldn't go there for food, a beer maybe since I heard their beer is good.

This is truly one of my favorite breweries. Its not just that I love their beer (its fantastic) but the restaurant itself is so cool. I love the look and we always feel so comfortable. When we don't eat lunch or dinner we get the cheese plate and beer and its great. I will be coming here for years to come!!!

Drinks consumed: - Glass of Hairy Knuckle Stout (Nitro) - Loved it, very creamy! - Pint of Oregon Session Ale - Husband said it was good and easy-drinking. - Celilo Cascadian Dark Ale - Friend liked it. I tried it, fruity flavor, not my kind of darker beer. - House Wine - Friend's wife was happy with it. Food ordered: - Buttermilk Fried Chicken with Roasted Fingerlings and Country Gravy - TOTALLY DISAPPOINTED with this dish. I got it because it was recommended by other Yelpers. Never ever again. The chicken was mostly bones and joints. I couldn't eat it, I was ready to send it to the kitchen but my Husband exchanged plates with me. Hubby said it was very greasy. - Mac and Cheese with Roasted Balsamic Tomato, Spicy Bread Crumbs and Bacon - Good old Mac and Cheese, saved me from the chicken. It was good. - Poutine - EXCELLENT. - Some Spicy Hummus - Friends liked it, it was too spicy for me. - Green salad - Looked good, my friend said she loves it. One thing that irked me, the server almost craps out my iPhone by dropping water all over the table. And she was VERY clumsy during the whole service. Someone mentioned in another review that their server looked stoned, I have to agree... She looked like she was baked.

Eh, beer was great, food was good, service was friendly. Not delighted that employees come out to smoke directly in front of the main entrance and feet from outdoor diners. Pretty nasty environment for a non smoker. I probably won't be back.

Sasquatch has quickly turned into my favorite happy hour spot. First off the beer, oh my the beer! Five star selection. So far I've enjoyed their IRA, double IPA, stout and amber. They've all been winners! Sasquatch also has a solid happy hour food selection. I like the rotating charcuterie selection and the burger is really good. I highly recommend getting it with the sharp cheddar cheese. I've sat in the the bar and restaurant area on several occasions and found the service of both the waiters and bartenders to be attentive and friendly. I've definitely become a big fan of Sasquatch! I look forward to going back during happy hour or to fill my growler.

Best veggie burger I have ever had. Fries were perfectly cooked. You get a lot of food for the price. There was a bit of a wait but once we were seated and ordered the food came super quick. I will definitely be back to try more things on the menu!

The beers were great, happy hour food menu was delicious, the atmosphere was phenomenal, but sadly the bartender seemed to hate us. It was just two individuals that came in around 10pm on a Saturday. I'm questioning coming in again... But I probably will. A little more cheer is all I ask.

Not so little known fact: Oregon bars are legally required to serve food if they are pouring booze, which allows my fat ass to try tasty tasty stuff to go along with my beer. We came in on a Sunday night so it was pretty empty and laid back. We ordered a round of beers and checked the menu out. It is divided into apps, small plated, regular entrees and large dishes. Although getting a salad would have probably been the best idea for me, I went all in with the seasonal burger: home made ciabatta bread, tempura onion rings, pickles and medium-well meat. The beef was juicy and had tons of flavor, definitely well executed. Instead of fries (which were a bit too salty), I got the side salad with just leafy greens and radishes. The meal in itself was pretty big and filling but very tasty and at affordable prices. Our server was also very nice and kept coming back with water pitchers. Since the beer we ordered tapped out at 3/4 of the pitcher, we got another one for free :). Not a bad Sunday night meal if you ask me!

Horrible service. The first time we came here it wasn't busy and it took us awhile to even be greeted at our table. The server greeted other tables that sat down, after us. So I have them the benefit of the doubt that maybe she didn't see me. So we give it another shot.. And the same thing happened! But the same server looked at me and walked the other direction and cleaned and then proceeded to greeted 2 other tables! However, thankfully for the owner, the food and beer are amazing because that's the only thing this place has going for it!

My husband and I went to Sasquatch for the first time yesterday and were blown away (and he is VERY rarely impressed). He had the seasonal burger with smoked bacon, a pickled tomato, and a honey jalapeno aioli, and we both agreed it was the best burger we had ever had. Just amazingly delicious on so many levels. We also had the peanut soup which was really unique and flavorful. I had the kale Caesar salad, which I LOVED--also very creative and just super tasty. Kudos to the chef!! We came to Sasquatch because it is a brewery first and foremost, and we so we wanted to try their beer. There are definitely some overrated breweries in Portland, but the beer here was really phenomenal. I don't understand a previous reviewer's comment about the beer being bitter--very strange. I had the Cascadian Dark Ale, which was so smooth and delicious, I had two. Yum! My husband had the Vanilla Bourbon Cream Ale which was simply outstanding--also very smooth and full of great flavors. He finally found a beer he loves, thank goodness, because I was tired of hearing him say he didn't like his beer. : ) Yes, the service can be a little slow, but our server was very nice and clearly in the weeds and we were enjoying ourselves, so we didn't care. I hate getting rushed through dinner anyway. The place was packed inside so don't plan on a quiet or romantic evening here, though outside may have offered a different ambiance. Parking is an issue, as we did drive around and around for 20 minutes until we eventually parked in a community a couple blocks away. I didn't take any points off for any of these issues because the food and beer were THAT good. We will be back SOON!!

My husband and I went here for the 2nd time. This time they were so busy. We had to wait awhile, but had a beer while waiting. They have a great list of beers to try! We had beet fritters for an appetizer and I had a veggie burger, it was wonderful! My husband had the pork shoulder. All of the employees were great there, but While we were waiting and eating, one of the employees was going above and beyond. Her name was katelyn. Good job, katelyn!! Just go and try the beer and food, better than the normal pub food. And say hi to katelyn! She has a pretty smile!

I went with my family of four. We waited 15 minutes before we were asked what beer we would like. After we ordered our beer, we waited 10 minutes before receiving it. I had to ask the bus girl/hostess if it was ready yet. Then, we waited 45 minutes for our food and our chicken was raw. It was a Tuesday evening, not incredibly busy. They received two stars because I like their beer. service was terrible.

Sasquatch is a cool place that makes good beer and has a creative menu. I was surprised by the space being so separated, it was like eating in someone's dinning room. Normally I do not like eating at 'kid friendly' establishments but it wasn't bad, no screaming children. We started with the deviled chickpea spread, which was like a smoky spicy hummus with grilled bread and a mix of carrots, fennel and snap peas. We decided to both order a veggie sandwich and split it; I got the beet and black bean veggie burger and he got the wild mushroom sandwich. My burger was good but the patty was slightly messy. Enjoyed the tomato jam with the sharp cheddar and beets. The wild mushroom sandwich was good, I liked the sliced apples and goat cheese, but there was little mushrooms. This sandwich would work better with a portabello cap. Fries were not bad, half were crispy and delicious and half were limp. Service was slow but appropriate; I like that we weren't bothered consistently and when I needed the check to catch the bus it was quick. I would stop by again if I was in the area but it wasn't worth the trek out to Hillsdale necessary. A little pricey. Look forward to drinking their beers at local pubs.

Being out of town (way out of town like DC), I did a search on a good place to go for our last night in Portland....me, the wife, and the 5 year old. It was a toss between this place and Mcmenammins. Am I glad I picked right! First the kimchi pickles are out of this world! The peanut soup is absolute delish, and yes, every review on yelp about the fried chicken is on point (I don't even EAT fried chicken....EVER). It really is fantastic!!!! The beers are good (I would put them up against dogfish head any day!). What was especially cool about this place is that it really IS family friendly....a box of toys right inside the door for the little ones to play with (mine took three dinosaurs and we proceeded to have a Dino battle at our table!!). Our waitress was great and friendly (left her a healthy tip!) and certainly not pushy or 'unaccounted for'....she was just right. A great place to go!!!!! Okay, last thing....HINT for the GENTS ( 4 gents sat next to our table).....you are in a brew pub that MAKES beer....you have a very cute waitress that was even checking you out while 'asking for ID'.....don't be a dweeb and order Pinot Grigio.....seriously, be a man.....(cute waitress walked away shaking her head in disbelieve!!!!).........

Best beer and food in Hillsdale. Super service and great business practices. Go there today!

Food is good, but service is meh. I ordered a moscato. The waiter asks me, "Do you know what a moscato is?" I should've asked him if he knew what a comb was. Other than that, food is good.

I live very close to Sasquach and have celebrated its presence since it opened. The beer is good and the food is good though it does carry the "West Hills Tax" of costing more than its actual value. Inconsistent service is something I am used to in Portland so I don't mark them down for that, the exception is good service. Mediocre is the norm. I'm very concerned as to how they treat their customers though.Like i said they put up with us, but today (Friday happy Hour) It got to be too much. I was sitting at the bar having a pint and was asked by a recently off-duty employee to move over. Not apparently for someone to sit down but to provide more room for them to spread out. What's up with that? Not going back.

The beer, off the hook amazing. The flavor is superb! True to the blend and displaying such a wide variety of notes. Try the Celilo, truly a NW beer to be proud of. And in my humble opinion, this place makes the best burger in town! Local high quality meat, farm fresh veggies and locally baked bread. Run to this pub for great food, and even better beer. The only bummer is the wait can be about 20 mins on weekend nights.

This place was great, I love their beer/cider and the food was good, their kale Cesar is a great salad but def not enough for an entree (for me anyway) and my bf got the bacon burger which tasted amazing. I also really like the fact that they support local farms and their beef is grass fed, that gets extra points!

First the good - Service was amazing on a hectic Saturday night. Seriously, this is how waiting tables is done. The cider was worth it. They have a very nice selection and offer flights, which is really great for cider lovers like me. The meh- The appetizers we had were OK. The pretzel was more of a honey drizzled cake, but tasty, and the chicken wings were a bit bland, but nice and crispy. The "WTF"- Memo to the kitchen - salt is your friend. Both of our entrees were under salted and frankly anemic. The burger had a plenty of pepper, but no salt at all. The buttermilk fried chicken arrived with a couple of small potatoes and soupy gravy and zero detectable salt or other flavours. The fries were soggy and the red sauce they call harissa is an insult to the real thing. Second memo to the kitchen - Well done burger means that the patty should not be lukewarm and super pink in the middle. Also, parbaking the bun is great, but only if you finish baking them before serving. Warming the parbaked buns finishing the process.

I love this place. It's in the neighborhood, and has become a favorite. I love the servers, they all have big personalities, and are fun to gossip with. The beer is always tasty, and the food is almost always great. In particular, the fried chicken is absurdly good, the chicken liver mousse is the best thing on the face of the earth. I had the hanger steak the other night, and I think it may have knocked the fried chicken off the podium for most favorite thing. Even when it's packed, it's not so loud you can't hear your friends. It's not the most amazing food on the face of the earth. But for a local place where the atmosphere is friendly, I'd feel comfortable eating alone, and the food is tasty and filling, I'm happy to call Sasquatch a favorite.

Brewery unbeknownst to me in Hillsdale. Loved the spicy kimchee fried pickles. Would like to come back for fried chicken. The lightest beer was nice and refreshing and love the picnic table dark wood benches.

For a gastropub, this place is as good as it gets. Went for late dinner (7:30) on a Monday: Service was friendly and attentive. He came by to check on us multiple times and gave some good info on the beers that they had on tap. The food was delicious! I had the fried chicken, that gravy was to die for! My bf had the burger and soup of the day, both were flavorful and yummy. The beer was good. I had the pale ale. My bf who is a beer lover enjoyed several different varieties and was pleased. There were some strange things, but nothing that was all that concerning: People waiting to be seated or waiting to use the restroom hovered in the bar area in which we were sitting which created a few awkward moments (turned around to look at the beer list and a man's behind was right there) The clientele at the actual bar seemed to just be off duty employees. They were quite loud and rowdy. It didn't effect my rating because, well, we were in a bar! It just seems to me that actual customers could have been occupying those seats instead. We will be back

Been coming here since they opened. I like their beer, I tend to get the IRA every time we come. My kids love the fried chicken, they get the gravy on the side. Good burgers, and I like the Kale Caesar Salad. Nice atmosphere, but be aware that it is sometimes busy at dinner time. We had a larger group and we are glad that we made a reservation. I have a friend that appreciates the large variety of Ciders on tap. Nice neighborhood gastro pub.

My boyfriend and I come here often. He gets the fried chicken, which comes with crisp fingerling potatoes and sausage gravy. He always eats it too fast for me to try it, but it looks delicious. I usually get the macaroni and cheese with bread crumbs and roasted tomatoes. It's very tasty, but fresh bread crumbs would be better than the very fine ones I expect come from a package. I have gotten their burger a few times, but didn't like that it came on ciabatta. However last time we were there they had a different bun, so I may reconsider. I'm also a cider drinker, and they have a great local selection. Service is always fast and friendly.

This place is one of our favorites. It's easy to get caught up in all the busy breweries downtown and even though we love dabbling in different ones this is our go-to. My favorite brewery veggie burger to date (made with beets!), my partner loves the seasonal burger, great fries and great beer. All qualifiers for a favorite brewery. Staff is always pretty attentive and friendly. They offer unique and delicious cider options and if we're not meal-hungry the fried pickles are terrific. If you haven't yet stopped in for a drink and eats, we definitely recommend it!

This place is addicting! The beer and food is excellent. I've been back a couple of times since my initial review. My wife and I had one of the best burgers ever! Sooooo good! This place is becoming our favorite brew pub by far.

Their food is better than OK, but the service is poor. They really should consider hiring people who know how to behave in public. I've been there before with the fam for dinner and had good food, (a cut above the usual Mcmenamins junk) good beer, and normal good service. Last Wednesday we went there late after hockey and waited, and waited, and waited. The putz serving tables served the table next to us twice, and didn't say a word to us. More than 5 min went by. Finally, one of us went to find him inside, and he responded with attitude. We left. Some people are capable of digging ditches, and others are capable of waiting tables. They need to hire those more appropriate to the job description. It is a restaurant, where communication with humans is necessary in order to do business. The place is only blocks from my house, so maybe if I'm REALLY hungry, I'll risk putting up with attitude and try it again. It is definitely not worth a journey to eat there if they are going to perform like this.

Food is great, beer is great. If you're with kids, the atmosphere may be great. If you're not with kids, and you don't feel like eating in a crowded and loud indoor playground then don't go. I've been going to Sasquatch since before their first batch of beer, and have always liked it. They are a victim of their own success and have found a solid niche with the family dining crowd. This may be good for the bottom line, and for those who are looking for that experience. For me though, I am not too eager to return. They have completely alienated everyone except for those with kids. Can't argue with their business model, but its not an atmosphere I care to endure. Also, the parking situation leaves a lot to be desired.

The good: the food and perpetration. The bad: service. The waitress (blonde dread locks) spilled beer on me and laughed it off by saying that went out to all her homies, whatever that means. No apologies or help to clean up. She brought all the food except for one of us at the table. She said the food would be right out. Fifteen minutes later, she walks past our table with a surprised look on her face, then yells she's got our backs. 5 mins later the last dinner is delivered to the table a full twenty minutes after everyone else's. again no apology nor reduction in bill. She is a nice girl, but, totally unprofessional, boarder line rude. I along with rest of the group will not be back. It's a shame that such a great menu, chef, location can be brought to its knees but such poor service.

The food is great, beer is excellent. I tried the mead last night and it was great! Our waitress Cassandra was endearing, patient, funny and all around superb. It's getting 4 stars because the wait can be a bit crazy (45 minutes on a Thursday) and also the restaurant is loud.

For a new business still working out the kinks, Sasquatch is doing rather well. Maybe I'm just especially partial to it because of the name and because I'm really excited to have a brewery in my 'hood, but I'm inclined to feel generous when reflecting on my past experiences here. First time I came here for happy hour with my mum. The food was good - I had the burger, which was tasty although the brioche bun was a bit big and heavy for the patty, and the soup of the day, which was a tasty chicken curry concoction, and my mum tried the gnocchi, which she enjoyed. The standout of the experience was the service - the gnocchi was intended as a side for a chicken dish, but as my mum doesn't eat meat, our server arranged it with the kitchen so she could just have the gnocchi as a side - and the sole Sasquatch beer they had on tap then, a floral, fragrant pale ale. I returned for dinner with the boy. We sat in the bar area this time, and the service was still outstanding. We tried the Woodboy IPA, which the boy liked (I refuse to drink IPAs, holy hops Batman) and an amber that was equally tasty. Not as standout-delicious as the pale ale, but both solid offerings. For dinner we ordered the kimchi pickles and the fish & chips. This time, the food was just okay. The pickles had too much batter and ended up being on the doughy side rather than fried crisply. The catfish was tender, although it also suffered from being too heavily-battered, which overshadowed the tender flavor and texture of the fish. Overall, I enjoy Sasquatch but I think it's trying to do too many things at once. Being a brewery AND a gastropub AND family-friendly makes it feel like the business is being pulled into many different directions and being stretched too thin as a result. I'd like to see them simplify the menu - it's ambitious and creative but strikes out too often in production - and lower the prices, embrace the casual neighborhood ambiance of a local brewery and just roll with it.

I stopped on here on a Friday afternoon for some beer and a snack. Atmosphere was nice. Typical brew pup restaurant setup. Good selection of beer styles. I ordered a 5 beer flight. All were good. The Hairy Knuckle stout and the Brown Ale on Nitro were my favorites. The ipa and imperial ipa were average at best. My biggest complaint was the waitress. If your ok with matter of fact, basic bring me my food and drink no frills service, this was it. No friendly chit chat or advise on what to order here. Oh an my fries? They were soggy. You would think with 3 groups In the whole place the cook, not chef , could have left them in the fryer an extra minute. Bottom line, not upset about going here, but I'm not going out of my way to go back.

We went here for a beer but ended up getting food too. The fried pickles were amazing although I wished there were more of them (since I'm a little piglet :). I ordered the veggie burger with some modifications that was also delicious. We had excellent service although based on previous reviews I think the service is a hit or miss. We did wait a bit for our food, but in my opinion, if you want fast food don't go out to dinner. The food is worth the wait and they have excellent beer to tide you over in the mean time. Parking can be a bit tricky here but still a lot better than downtown, they have a small dirt lot across the street or there is some street parking. Overall great experience, I would go back.

Went there with a few friends for happy hour after work one day. The mac n cheese is yummy and the beer was good too! I like the ambiance of the place too. The service was good when we were there but it wasn't really too crowded until we left either. Check it out!

Not the worst but failed to impress. For my money, there are better ways to eat and drink. I live very close by and wish I liked it more but the burgers were too greasy for my tastes and the service was slow and a tad apathetic. Can't fault the suds if you are a true beer lover.

I LOVE Sasquatch! Not only is their beer fantastic, but the food is original and tasty, especially for a brew pub. You can get a taster of any beer for $1, and create a taster tray of any combination you desire! I highly recommend the Moby Dick brew if you are a fan of some hops. I also love the laid back atmosphere and friendly staff. I've never had a poor experience with their customer service. Try it out, you won't be disappointed!

The beer is great. Truly. If I could rate the beer alone, I would give this place four... but I am not rating just the beer. They serve food, and it is sorely lacking. Lovely location. The service is top notch. Friendly waitstaff and bartenders. Wonderful place to sit and enjoy the sunset. The food has taken a steep nosedive over the past six weeks or so. Perhaps we were there on an off-night... but... of the three things we ordered... all were lacking. Great beer though!

The food was awesome, they have a large beer list as well as a pretty sizeable cider list which is awesome. Our server was Joseph and he handled our loud and fickle group of girls and had everything right with no mistakes even after multiple changes from the orders. He helped us make decisions and choose portion sizes and everything came out perfectly! The deep fried kimchi pickles were great, the aioli it came with was amazing. They were cut a little too thick (about 1/2 inch thick) and would have had a better impact had they been cut thinner. I ordered the gnocchi which was delicious and unique, two of the girls I was with ordered the seasonal (one asked for it lettuce wrapped because semis gluten free ad they obliged with no problem or charges) and they both LOVED it, the fourth girl ordered the veggie burger which is her go to meal as a vegetarian and she said is was one of the best she had. We were there for open mic night which we were told was happening immediately as we walked in which was nice to know. Overall I highly recommend this place and will definitely go back!

A place like Sasquatch shows up with an odd distribution of reviews on Yelp, and I can understand why. On the one hand, there are some big positives here. The beer they're brewing is very good, some of them excellent (I particularly like the Red Electric and Bertha Brown Ale). The food can be very good as well if you order carefully. The pretzel, beer can chicken, the pasta, charcuterie, cheese are all good. The beer can chicken in particular is great. Service from some of the folks (I know one very capable guy is named Chris...) is also solid. Then there's the other hand. Some items on the menu are just not good (grilled salad, fish and chips) and others can be hit or miss (the burgers). If you catch the wrong server, prepare to be annoyed. Having been here many times, I would argue that, on balance, this place deserves four stars. If you've only been here once or twice, I can see how you might catch a bad meal. Not sure what I'm saying other than that they might need to work on, I don't know.... Consistency?

Large selection of beers and standard brewery food selections. I ordered 3 tasters ($1 each) and my friends ordered 2 pints each. I wasn't a huge fan of the beer but I will say that I only had 3 out of the large selection available. I enjoyed the atmosphere of the place but the shape of the building is pretty strange... it's like a long hallway with walls in between. I think I'd rather go to Journeys or the Lucky Lab in Multnomah.

I've been here twice now and have had great experiences. The happy hour menu rotates and I haven't had anything that wasn't delicious. The thing that will truly keep me coming back is the service. I had two different servers when I've been but excellent service. Servers can get visibly frustrated with small orders but when I only ordered $6 worth of food the first time my server was so polite. I was so happy I excitedly took 5 of my girlfriends here last night. We were loud but out server was so chill. I wish I remember his name but he has super long dreads so if a manager is reading this give that man some props. Anyway, when we asked for the check I expected to have to plead for separate bills (too many places make such a fuss). Our server just brought us separate checks without asking. Now that is awesome!!!! Food I loved: beet fritter, fries, poutine Food that was okay: burger I don't drink alcohol (I know, what am I doing at a brewery?!) But my friends rave about the tangerine beer.

I feel a little misled by all the glowing reviews but it sounds like it was based on the food. I'll give allowances on service issues when a place is new, but the problems we encountered seem to be a little more than that. The good: They have a rockin taplist despite the fact their beer isn't on tap yet. I like the space and there's plenty of seating. This area could use another great beer spot so the location was a good decision. I also spied some shiny new brewery equipment that got me all excited. The bad: If you are holding yourself out as a beer place, it might be prudent to hire staff who knows about beer and can remember a 4-6 item taplist. We requested a beer by name from our server and you would have thought we asked for a a real Sasquatch based on her bewilderment at our request. Beers were served warm, cost $4.75 and in no way were they 16 oz of beer. Fail. Our server was nice but became visibly upset when we wouldn't order anything else. I didn't see a minimum on the menu and I think it's reasonable to expect that when customers come in after 8pm they might just be in for beer and not food. One of our friends did order some mac and cheese off the small plates menu, they weren't joking, it was tiny. Looking at the online menu, it looks like they may have lowered the price on it since our visit. Maybe the high prices are to pay for the shiny new equipment, but I left feeling guilty talking my friends into trying this place only to get served overpriced, warm beer. It sounds like the food is good and I would be partial to another brewery in the area, so I might give them one more try when they have their own beer on tap. For now it's a pass.

I'm a quintissential portland microbrew beer snob -- in fact make that IPA snob because that's pretty much the only beer I'm intrested in. Typically I go to a place and try their one or maybe two IPAs, and they rarely measure up to my favorites (e.g. Russian River Pliney the Elder, Lompoc C-Note, Boneyard Hop Venom). I've been pleasantly surprised -- nay, amazed! that I could hardly choose between their Moby Dick double IPA, Red Electric IRA, and Woodboy IPA. They're all fantastic! And the food... the Garden Burger with beets and avacado is hands-down the best garden burger I've ever had. Love the veggie - hummis sandwich too. This place is pretty out of the way for me but I'll be going back.

"Meh" describes this place perfectly. We just recently moved across town and this restaurant/brewery is just a few blocks away, so I really really really wanted to love it. The food is just okay. We took my mom to lunch there a few weeks ago and she ordered a salad with chicken on it and the chicken was SO salty she couldn't finish it. I've had a decent sausage and burger there and I do like their beer. However, the real killer for this place is the service. A few MONTHS ago we originally tried to take my mom to lunch their for the first time. It was gorgeous, sunny day and they have a huge, nice patio. We sat at our table for 20 minutes without receiving any service - not a menu, waters, or even "we'll be right with you." We ended up leaving and going down the street somewhere else for lunch. The kicker was - they weren't even busy. On our second, somewhat more successful attempt, it took our server about 20 minutes to come around to take our order and they all just seem kinda - out of it. If you are looking for quick eats out in Hillsdale - definitely better places within walking distance.

First time and we loved it! Had great wine & beer. Our group of four had a meat charcuterie plate, the African Peanut Soup, 3 piece fried chicken, regular burger with fries, & Charlie Mac & Cheese. We share so we know everything was yummy. The Mac & Cheese could have used more sauce, but it tasted great

beer was good, kale salad was very good. burger: meat was good, but the bun was neither toasted nor steamed; it was room-temp and a little stiff, which was an odd contrast with the hot patty. fries were excellent! be aware that this place is VERY child-friendly, so it's a bit reminiscent of Romper Room.

We came here for the beer. Their Grand CRU ABV: 6.4% IBUs 11 beer is made with Siason yeast, orange peel and coriander. The beer is like a stronger Blue Moon but mildly sweeter. They have too many Hoppy beers on their menu which left us with 3-4 choices as we're not huge fans of excessively hoppy beers. Overall ambience was really good and beer was great. The patio seating with barstools right next to the bridge was really good. We would definitely come back to check out the other ones.

We stopped in here on the night of their soft opening (10/20/11) and the place was already mostly full at 6:30. The space is a long series of rooms just like it was when it was Alba Osteria, but they've built out the kitchen so that it's an open kitchen so you can walk right by and watch the cooks in action. The menu was modest in scope, mainly burgers and small plates, but everything we had was top quality, made fresh, and seasonal. We started with the fried "kimchee" pickles, which were hot & tasty, but really just spicy fried pickles. After that we had the beet fritters, which were outstanding, served with a dressed salad of arugula and goat cheese. As everyone knows, goat cheese & beets are a match made in heaven, so this was delicious. We each had a burger as well, and both were generously sized and perfectly cooked. I had the "seasonal" burger, topped with a brilliant combo of bacon, balsamic aioli and a squash compote. The fries on the side were hand-cut and perfectly crispy. Service was actually pretty good, considering it was opening night. They have 4 guest beers on right now, all NW regionals (Laurelwood, Double Mountain, Bayern, and Burnside.) They don't have their own beers on yet as they haven't gotten the brewery built out yet at this location. The manager explained that they are still waiting on federal (BATF) permits to actually build the brewing plant, and they estimate they will have that up and running within 2 months. I'm reserving the 5th star until I can taste their beer, but if it's anything as good as the food, this place will be an instant neighborhood classic.

Finally! My fiance and I have said so many times that Hillsdale really needed a good brew pub. I think this place shapes up to fill that need perfectly. Went in today for an early dinner. Beautiful refurb of Alba Osteria's space. Welcoming and bright, with a very nice feel. Staff super friendly and helpful. The current menu is a true gastropub menu - appetizers, salads and sandwiches. They told us that they will be building out the menu with entrees soon. And I can't wait for that, because what they have now is very, very good. We started with the deviled chickpea spread with veggies and grilled crostini. All superb. Bit of fire to the spread, nice mix of very fresh veggies, perfectly grilled crostini with a little oil, but not at all greasy. We both had the veggie burger for our meals. She with a green salad (very fresh and well dressed) and I with the fries (let's just say crisp, tender, with visible flakes of sea salt - wow). The burgers were house made and appeared to be beet-based, garnished with a hearty avocado/onion/tomato relish, on toothsome, fresh rolls. I am not normally a beet fan, but these were prepared very well, well grilled and tasty. There were several other things on the menu I want to try - the pickles, the pretzel, the grilled mushroom sandwich among them. Beer was very good - we both had Double Mountain Hop Lava IPA. I am looking forward to when they get their house brewing going. Really can't wait to go there enough times that I can call myself a regular!

The waitstaff is super friendly, and the food is really great--a lot better than I'd normally expect from a pub/brewery. There are varied daily specials, too, so you can keep coming back even if you get tired of your favorites.

We just moved in to the neighborhood and decided to check out Sasquatch. We arrived at around 5:30pm on a Saturday evening. The place was already very busy. We learned that there was an article in the paper this morning about Sasquatch, hence the non stop flow of customers from the time we arrive until the time we left at around 7:15. Let's talk about the service first. We were promptly greeted by a courteous young man. We were informed that the wait for dimmer was about 20 minutes and that we could grab a beer. No problem. I did have to be aggressive to get our drinks. I was not asked by the bartender. I understand that Sasquatch was unusually busy being new and having some publicity but it is common courtesy to acknowledge someone standing at the bar. This is where Sasquatch lost a couple of stars. We were seated within the 20 minutes. Now let's talk about the food and drink. My wife had a delicious pasta dish and I went for the traditional burger with a side of fries. We were both please by our selections. Excellent quality, very well prepared and good tasting. Our server, Tye (female) was great. With so many great choices close by, we are not in a rush to go back. Will we go back? Probably.

Parking is in a gravel lot across the street. Maybe 10-15 spots available. Pros: Beer was decent, nothing to crave Service was friendly Menu was creative Cons: Warm tap water was served Small menu Awkward indoor seating Will go back to get a better vibe. I wish it wasnt raining so I could sit outside and enjoy a beer.

I went here with a friend to try out this place which my neighbor recommended. The girl that greeted us was very nice and inviting. We picked a seat outside which happened to be in the sun, so we moved. We were the only ones sitting outside when we moved, and we moved to a large bench. She asked us to move to a smaller table to reserve the seating for larger parties, I can understand this being as I was a server before but we were the only ones sitting outside. Not too big of a deal at all it was just the tone in which we were asked to move. We happily moved to another table and continued to order our food. The waitress took our order and got my order wrong, again this was no problem as they fixed it for us in a timely manner. All in all the food was great, service was okay, and the ambience was very nice. We did however have to come find the waitress to pay the bill after we waited for quite some time.

Small portions of "gourmet" food that reads great, but is often pretty bland, as well as overpriced. Waitstaff is very hit or miss.. I think of the 5 or 6 times we've gone, we typically have an awkward, inattentive, or somewhat rude waiter.

Impressed by the food & beer. Went here on a Friday evening for a late (is 8pm late?) dinner, to celebrate a birthday while we were traveling. Seemed to be a little quiet for a Friday night, but not sure if that was because of the time? There were four of us. This was very close to where we were staying Waitress seemed VERY clueless. Or stoned. Seeing this was brewing company, we asked if we could order a flight (a tasting) of the beers. Blank stare in return. Server realized we were looking for "small beers".. umm, okay, if that is what you call it.... Anyway, we choose six to sample (Five of their brews, plus one other). Because it was a slow night, the bartender was able to come out and explain the selections, etc, and things started to get much better. The brews were all very tasty - not one that we didn't like. The red something was the excellent. The food was Amaze-balls. We all enjoyed our meals. Beet Fritters (Awesome) and Soft Pretzels to start (the honey was a little too much on the pretzel). I had the Homemade veggie burger. I could seriously eat this everyday. Interesting ingredients, fresh, etc. My husband had two small plates - mac & cheese and the Fried Chicken. You could tell he really enjoyed them as he offered me none. My sister had the veggie pasta dish and her husband had the pork. All had clean plates & happy bellies at the end. Not your typical brewery - more of the family restaurant variety (We also sat outside, which was nice.)

Great food, but I'm really sad that they don't offer the bacon poutine on the menu anymore. The beer is good, I like their summer beers better than the winter ones (but I like lighter fruiter beer). We ordered a keg for our wedding and they were really helpful and when we had an issue with the deposit, they fixed it ASAP and ensured that we were happy when we left.

Don't be fooled people. Happy hour ends at 5 pm and it is the same price as the regular menu. Example: 1 happy hour pretzel is $3.00. Regular menu pretzels includes 2 and are $6.00. Happy hour burger with cheese is $7.00 and to add fries you will have to add another $3.00. See my point? Expensive place. Not worth it in my opinion.

Sat outside in the shade on a beautiful evening. Enjoyed a wonderful plate of brats with potatoes n red cabbage. The Seasonal Burger across from was reported as awesome. Sampled some really good beers. The Grand Cru happened to fill a growler and make it home with me. I will definitely be back.

Go with the regular Mac and cheese it tastes like the cheese sauce with the pretzel which is money! The the pickled sample appetizer is pretty good as well. Highly disappointed with the bacon Mac n cheese it tasted like they poured the bacon grease in it.

We went out to Sasquatch the other night after going back and forth for the better part of an hour trying to decide what we wanted to eat. I'm so glad we ended up here because this ended up being one of our best dining experiences in recent months. We arrived and we were seated promptly in the bar area, after looking over the menu I was a little intimidated. I saw lots of items I would normally jump on but being pregnant, many of those items (like the cheese plate and beer list) were off limits and many more seemed unappetizing (the fetus is picky). I zoned into the small plates section, figuring small portions would help in my never ending quest to keep my dinner down. I was drawn to the greens with cherries and walnuts to start, then the pretzels, then the fried chicken with fingerling potatoes. Ultimately I ordered all three with the intention to share with my husband (which I didn't) while he opted for the seasonal burger. I can't remember what was on it, only that he really, really loved it while I was totally repulsed by it. Our food came out quickly and I was immediately impressed. The fried chicken was one of the best I've ever had. It was literally a bowl, the bottom filled with some of the best gravy i've experience, topped with perfectly roasted fingerling potatoes and adorned with three fried hunks of chicken heaven. I would almost liken it to what I have experience at screen door in terms of quality and authenticity. The greens were perfect, none of that bitter spring mix crap and the dressing was light and tart which offset the sweetness of the candied walnuts perfectly. Now the pretzel was the real highlight. I make big soft pretzels at home all the time so my standards here are high, but they didn't let me down. They were dense and salty but offset by a drizzle of honey. I even enjoyed the mustard dip that came with them. Meanwhile, my husband demolished his burger and fries which he said were some of the best he has had. He also kicked back a few beers which he said were good enough to come back for. In addition to loving our meal, we also loved our waiter who was attentive but laid back. He answered all my crazy questions about the food preparation without rolling his eyes and he was prompt. At the end of the meal he took off our discount which we got through Scoutmob without having to be reminded. All in all, just an awesome meal. I'm looking forward to going back soon.

Excellent tasting beer and real excited they had 3 Nitro beers on tap. Came here for happy hour when I was visiting Portland and service was excellent as well. I really enjoyed the selection of food they had as well and everything was great. My only complaint was that parking was hard to find, but that did not effect the food or drink at all. Will definitely be visiting this place again next time I am in Portland.

Love the name of this place! My boyfriend and I soaked up the sun and a beer sampler on the patio. Happy to declare they've got a fresh and delicious lunch menu! I ordered the Portobello Mushroom Sandwhich, Ohhhhh Laaawdy was it tasty! Until next time!

As Homer Simpson would say "Mmmmmmmm beer." And a good beer it was. I don't travel down to the deeper southwest very often. So I knew of Sasquatch but didn't know of its location and with all the brew pubs around town, I didn't think I'd run into the place. I was in the area for a meeting and had 45 minutes to kill. Amazing, the bus service was on time and I didn't want to wander aimlessly. There's not a whole lot to see in this immediate area and while looking at my Google Maps, it showed that Sasquatch was right along the way, one stop before my destination. Oh yes I was stopping. They have a great beer selection and I was not short on options. I tested out a copper ale and an IRA and went with the former. It was one of their newer beers and the bartender mentioned his newest favorite. Being that it was beautiful out, I sat down outside and cracked open a book to read as I enjoyed my pint of hops and water. The copper ale was very clean tasting with no bitter aftertaste like most IPAs tend to have and I really enjoyed it. I tend to lean towards darker beers as it is and this beer was a good choice. It was after lunchtime and the place was quiet but I liked the layout of the bar and the server was attentive, even though I wasn't ordering any food. I guess I need excuses to find my way down here again. Enjoy.

It's ridiculous that the restaurants in SW Portland are so blatantly mediocre that a decent place like Sasquatch takes an hour and fifteen minutes just to get a table on a weekend. I mean, we are talking about hamburgers and beer. It's good, but not two and a half hours, door-to-door good.

Great burgers, great fries, a great beer no matter what your taste. Loved the fried pickles. Someone got real dinner food and that was good, too, although I don't remember exactly what it was. I enjoyed a stout float but was jealous when my friend's cider tasting came in pink, yellow and blue. It looked like fairy juice or something fancier than what I had. Service was friendly, keeping up with our banter. Small patio means larger groups are stuck inside. We had received a gift certificate as a wedding gift and were glad to use it. Good times.

Two visits in one week, now that's worth writing about especially since I live on the other side of town. This little brewery is warm and welcoming with rustic finishings all over the place. It reminds me of a cabin. It's not huge its just the right size, you might have a short wait but it won't be horrendous. It seems well suited for couples on a date, families and large groups. The place brews up there own beer but also offers a great selection of ciders which is a huge bonus for me. I was impressed with the beers I tried including the IPA, BOCK and Ale but I've been torn because they offer some amazing ciders including Blue Mountain Cider Cherry which is delicious. The food menu is a bit limited in my mind (hence the 4 stars) but what we had was pretty good. The fried pickles were unique, yet delicious and the burger was pretty good -- you could say by portland standards it was a tad small and a bit plain but you could tell the beef was of a quality grade. Be warned, it's kind of tricky to find and they have a parking lot (gravel lot) across the street but once you walk through the door you'll find the adventure to find them well worth it.

Worst service in Portland I have ever had. Completely insulted by waiter saying we needed an upgrade to sit out back where a man and his Dog were. Obviously not wanting to have people of different ethnic background in this business. If you are Hispanic, not where you will be welcome. Never will we go here again.

I spent a couple hours on my last night in Portland at Sasquatch and it was a fun and mellow ending to my trip. I grabbed a seat by myself at the bar and decided to get a flight since I was unfamiliar with any of Sasquatch's beers. I also added some of their ciders to my flight. I can't say I liked all of the beers, but I did enjoy the Hairy Knuckle, their Nitro Stout. Out of the ciders, I liked the guest cider tap by 2 Towns, the Serious Scrump, which had great flavor and a very respectable ABV (11%). The best part about my visit was the company. I happened to sit next to Mac, who recently left her job at Sasquatch (amicably) for another restaurant in Portland. She was visiting her old coworkers and we started chatting. Since she knew the menu so well, she insisted I sample the "Deep Fried Kimchee Pickles" and the goat cheese cheesecake (her recipe!). Wow. Those pickles were so good, with just a hint of kimchi seasoning and they came with an excellent basil aioli. That cheesecake was mind-blowing. The chefs use seasonal ingredients to make a compote topping for it, and that night it was a strawberry/raspberry/rosemary compote. What a fantastic dessert! I enjoyed the rest of my time there chatting with the bartender (Chris, I believe) and I met a few other members of the kitchen team. I wish more of their beers were up my alley, but the food was delicious and the staff/service was excellent. I would definitely like to visit again some day, especially for dinner so I can try their famous fried chicken.

This was an off night for a usually good solid food establishment! I ordered the Beet Fritter Salad and they arrived severely burnt! Upon mentioning this to my server, she informed me that that is how they are supposed to be! I sent them back as inedible, she return with a better approximation of the dish, but over dressed! The fried chicken I ordered never arrived, and when asked about the dish I was informed that that part of my order was lost! I canceled the order as my table mates were well into their respective meals! I did chance to sample my table mates burger requested as Rare, it was medium at best, and the fries were limp and soggy! Not good! The waitress apologized and the manager comped our beers! This was my second visit here. Visit one was a 4.5. Visit 2 a 1. On the lighter note, the beer was quite good!

I give this brewery 2 stars. The beer is amazing, the bar layout itself is awesome. But the STAFF was ridiculous. One bartender catering to everyone but me and my 10 person party. Plus the place was packed why do you only have one bartender? And to tack onto that she was rude. No one smiled. No one paid any attention to us. I won't be back

We walk in and wait 50 minutes for a table then wait another 35 for our food. It was worth it. My daughter ordered the buttermilk fried chicken and it was the BEST gravy and chicken I've ever had! I would wait another 2hours for this chicken!

"They have really good poutine at Sasquatch," I said to my somewhat sheltered supervisor. "What?" she said, her eyes getting big. "I thought you were married." "You've never had poutine?" I said. "You haven't lived until you've had some really good poutine at least once--not the stuff that's runny and brown-- "I can't listen to this anymore. You can't talk about things like this at work. That's dirty; It's unprofessional. It turns out that, never having heard the word "poutine" before, she thought I was saying "poontang" over and over again. You already read the above dialogue from MY perspective. I now urge you to re-read, substituting the word poontang for poutine. Shocking, isn't it? For the record, no, you will not find any poontang at Sasquatch unless you do it very quietly in their centrally located restroom where the humblest monk fart echoes like you were drunk and hollering the words to Dixie over the rim of the Grand Canyon. Poutine however, may be had publicly and without shame in liberal, good-tasting portions. It's the best I've had around Portland, made in the traditional style with large chunks of semi-melted cheese curds. Sadly, they ONLY serve it at happy hour and at no other time. I'm not sure why that is. Poutine, even done well as it is here is not exactly a labor intensive dish, but when the gourmet gods have spoken, we mortals can only obey. This is a brew pub and their beer selection is excellent. I'll spare you descriptions of individual beers not because I'm afraid to tell you, but because I can't ever remember things like that, sorry. It's what happens when I drink beer. The Beer Faery comes and wipes my memory of all that I have drunk, and so I am forever doomed to drink the same thing over and over, not ever knowing if I will like it or not on the 3rd, the 30th or the 300th round. Alas, such is my fate! I curse thee, cruel Beer Gods! I take it back! I take it back! Forgive, forgive! I repent, Beer Jesus! I repent! But I digress... One of the most amazing thing about this place is what they do with beets. I am one of those people who, when faced with the choice between a veggie burger and beef, I am almost never, ever able to say yes to the veggie burger when out at a restaurant. Especially at a place like Sasquatch that has really good quality beef. So consider it nothing less than a miracle hat besides the poutine, I never eat anything here aside from their vegetarian burger. It's made from pressed, battered, and fried beets, served with bitter greens and presented on a soft, fresh bun. Eat one, my friend, and your bowels will move like a perpetual motion machine synchronized with the precision of an atomic clock. **UPDATE** Poutine, once served only during happy hour, is now GONE entirely from the menu. Our server was kind enough to prod the cooks to make us some makeshift poutine, but it just wasn't the same. He also told us that the cooks change the menu and stop carrying items just because they feel bored. So much for giving a damn about the customer. The hostess who first approached us was also rude and unfriendly, and made us feel unwelcome because we picked the only table available, and it was large. This happens a lot here. I overlooked the bad because I loved the food, but I can't anymore. If the food sucks, the beer list changes all the time and the service sucks 50% of the time...its time to say thanks for the memories!

Sasquatch is awesome! Friendly, attentive staff. Wait can get a bit long (especially on the weekends) so plan accordingly. They have a small bar area when you first enter and two large seating rooms behind. They also have a patio area. Food is amazing, the Charlie Mac is always a great choice and the burgers are cooked perfectly every time. Portions are what you would expect for the price, entrees are on the larger side. Definitely try the house made pretzel. The goat cheese cheesecake is beautifully rich. Beer selection is above average, IPA heavy with a few porters/stouts/pilsners and a delicious Belgian golden ale called Grand Cru. They have a substantial selection of wines and ciders if beer isn't your thing. Definitely my favorite place for grub in Hillsdale.

  • Chris O.

Likely the best food, beer and cider on this side of town, I wish we had more like this out here in the more burbish area. The beer list is very good, I like the the cider list very impressive with around 10 ciders on tap, "The Mitten" being my favorite. The food is excellent and it really surprised me, especially the fried chicken which is a dish I normally don't care for but here it's absolutely mouth watering awesome! Perfectly spiced and prepared. The beet fritters are good, the home made soft pretzels decent, the grass fed (thank you) burgers are excellent. So far everything here has been stellar and it's my new favorite restaurant on this side of town. I do wish the outdoor seating was a little further from the road but hey it's dog friendly (and baby friendly till 9pm) so I'm a big fan!

    (5)
  • Jenn W.

You MUST have the beet fritters! They are very tasty and quite possibly the only thing worth eating on their modest menu. I recommend going for happy hour since I find their prices a little high for what you get. Some of the staff here need a lesson in service. The bearded bartender's assholeish attitude is also a huge turnoff. I've seen him be repeatedly rude to customers (including myself) for no apparent reason and he has a serious entitled chip on his shoulder. It's unfortunate that this local gastro pub with such potential is being ruined by a few staff members and lackluster value.

They have such great seasonal and regular burgers to perfection every time. Friendly and on it. This is one of my favorite spots, and I highly recommend it too any and everyone. Their beer is spot on too. So delicious and different types for everybody. I cannot say enough about this place so go in and try!

I absolutely love this place! I just wish that they had more gluten free options, but they are always willing to work with you. The beer and cider selections are a perfect PNW treat and the Charlie Mac is a must try! It's mac n cheese with whatever magical add on's they have prepared for that day! It's so fun and things you wouldn't never think of to put in your mac n cheese. Also, some tasty alternatives are the cheese burger, mmmmm! And the turkey with chutney! Mouth watering!

Grand Cru is the best Belgian ale I have ever tasted. I loved it so much that my hubby and I stopped in a second time in a 4 day span on our vacation. My husband got an IPA that wasn't on the menu because the bartender asked him what type of beer he liked and thought that IPA would be his favorite. Sure enough, he loved it. On our second visit, we got the Fattening but Good dessert (that is it's real name) and it was melt in your mouth spectacular. It was a crumbly brownie/chocolate mousse concoction that I will long for during a sugar craving. The service on both our visits was always with a smile. They were genuinely happy to see the patrons walk through the door.

I went here for a late lunch and was impressed with their beer/cider selection. I ordered the berry pie cider and it was amazing. The food was above average. I had the coconut curry soup and cranberry turkey sandwich. The soup was awesome, sandwich was good. It took a little while for the server to take our order but once she did, she was super friendly and did a great job. I will be back.

Almost 5 stars, but I save that for a real "WOW" experience. Great beer and fantastic food. I drove by and always noticed the crowds on Weekends. If you go be ready for the wait and service sacrifices that come with the place being packed. On a week night for dinner, it's amazing. Go and check it out!!!!

My wife and I decided to try this place for lunch but we weren't very impressed at all. Small lunch menu that wasn't very appealing. We both ended up just getting the Mac & Cheese for $9 that ended up coming in a small souffle bowl. It wasn't very tasty and definitely NOT worth the price. My wife asked our server if she could recommend a good fruity type beer and she did, but then said it was out. She then recommend another one that was taking its place, but then informed us that they weren't tapping it yet. Seriously? Water it was. I know everyone has their own experiences, but we would definitely never return.

Exceeded my expectations! We had the seasonal burger. The grassfed meat was amazing and veggies and greens were SO fresh! Best burger in a long time. I got the olive oil poached albacore salad. Protein blast of amazingness.....It was decadent and the texture was silky and just so good....The greens tasted like they were picked that day. We also shared an order of fries. The lemon basil aioli was an awesome accompaniment to the fries. Their harissa sauce was also really good. I thought it was a shame that they have such great sauces and use Sysco ketchup. Total bummer. I wish they would spring for a little better ketchup since all their other stuff was such high quality. The fries looks really good and they were good but they weren't awesome. Server was really cool and atmosphere was laid back.

The folks are friendly. The food is tasty! I love their cider selection. Their happy hour is my favorite! So why only 3 stars? I ordered some mac and cheese to go for my son and they didn't have a plastic fork or a napkin or bag. Just a box with mac and cheese. When I asked for a fork, the guy looked at me like I had just said something very awkward to him. And then he said, "Sorry, no."

Very disappointed with a second return. Got the fried chicken, under the small plates, which was 3 pieces DRENCHED in a bowl of gravy. I thought the gravy may have been an afterthought, turns out it was the only thought. One of my children had the greasy grilled cheese, husband had the veggie burger which he said was good except for the overly sweet tomato jam overpowering it. I think if we are to return, we will have to really have to scrutinize the sparse menu before driving over

We made an impromptu stop at Sasquatch and were pleasantly surprised! I highly recommend the veggie beet burger (sweet, savory, crunchy) and trying some of the beers and ciders by ordering a couple of flights (Cheap and a great way to figure out what you like). The bourbon cider was unlike anything my husband and I have ever had and we sample a lot of beer. I wouldn't say the service was anything special but not lacking either. We'll be back!

Ate dinner here last night. I had the all white meat fried chicken with fingerling potatoes and gravy. I enjoyed it but felt like it was swimming in gravy. The fried kimchee pickles appetizer was really great with a spicy kick to it. The seemed a bit under staffed to me and the layout was kind of strange. My husband got a burger which was good but he thought not very flavorful. The French fries were well salted and very tasty. My friend got a steak and really enjoyed it. Overall the food was very good, would happily return in the future.

Cool restaurant pub in Hillsdale. The beer is excellent - the Bernard Belgian Dark is a must try! The staff is friendly, attentive and helpful. However, other than the burgers, the food was lacking. I hope this was just an off night because I like this place a lot. Got the smoked pork shoulder, creamed collard greens and bacon fat cornbread. The pork shoulder was a little tough and I wasn't getting any smoke flavor. The greens were pretty good, but the cornbread was dry and a little lacking in flavor. The beer is 5 stars but my dish 2 stars.

I have been in this place many times in the last few months. The beer is fantastic, it seems like almost every style I have tried has been really good. IPA's and the IRA are my personal favorites here. Every time I have been in it was really busy, and the staff was always doing a great job to keep up with the customer flow. Food is always solid and have had many different meals, fried chicken, burger, and steak were all good.

I'm quickly becoming a regular here - it's the burger. The burger calls me. Honestly, this is a great little gastropub located not too far from Multnomah Village. We love it here - I almost always order the burger and get a side of the basil aoli to dip my fries into (because; aren't pubs meant to be a place for shameless gluttony?). Other things we've tried have been an array of the various salads on the menu, the fried pickles, and of course the beer. All of the above has been delicious. Overall, I'd call this place welcoming and warm, with tasty house-made food, a great beer selection, and pretty great servers. If you're looking for something yummy in SW, this is a must.

I would go more often if the wait wasn't so long and the service wasn't so slow. We stopped going on Friday nights because of the hour long wait. Even on a Tuesday, the wait was 40 minutes. You can tables just sitting dirty. They really need to add more staff or at least some that can hustle. Quicker table turns means more sales and tips, right? Please read your reviews and you will know why your restaurant isn't rated a 4 star.

Come and enjoy the beer, just don't expect good service. I've gotten beer and food here multiple times as I live within walking distance, and have had only one good server. Hostess and serves give off a bothered, unwelcoming vibe. Also, happy hour menu seems to loose items and grow in price every time I come in. It's almost like they want me to find another brewery that's better. And trust me; there are many of those in Portland.

I went here the other night and sat at the bar. I'm visiting a friend in town and she was busy that night so I went out exploring. The bartenders were so nice. They helped me choose different beers and I even ordered a nice cider which I would have never ordered. They were great about giving tasters and describing different beers. They recommend the fried chicken and it was delicious. Amazing seasoning, perfect crunch and not too greasy. The potatoes that it came with were so so good. They went perfectly with the chicken. I'm glad I ordered the 3 piece size cause i was so full half way in. The staff was very friendly and everyone seemed to be having a good time. Keep up the good work guys!

Food and beer were good... but the service was slow, so be patient. Not a place to go in a rush. I had a burger, the fries were delicious, burger was just pretty good (not the best in Portland). Husband LOVED his beer can chicken...no complaints there. The waiter literally walked by us 10 times with no acknowledgment before bringing us water...he checked on us once all night then we waited 15 minutes for our check after having our table cleared.

This place had a lot to live up to. Best Fried Chicken ever! Having had lots of Fried Chicken and even been praised for my Chicken and Waffles...I was going in great expectations. Funny thing is people hardly mention the gravy and the potatoes. Its the uniqueness that makes things great. Three of us ordered the Chicken. Each one of us came up with places to compare the chicken to but none of us had an answer for the gravy and potatoes. Words cannot describe how they add to the deliciousness scale. The chicken is riding their coat tails. The Mac and Cheese could very well be the best. When did tomatoes disappear from other Mac n Cheese? Their version brought back memories of comfort food and family picnics where as a child I couldn't wait for the casserole to come out of the oven. Spot on full of flavor and some bacon hidden in there as a special treat. Why no five stars? The smell of fermenting beer is overwhelming. Nothing that you cant overcome just be prepared. Its such a joint but the layout holds it back or just the space. Limited seating and small outdoor patio.

Pleasantly surprised! Good beer, and NOT your ordinary bar food, plenty of vegetarian options. Parking is a challenge. We sat for about 10-15 minutes before out servicer greeted us, but we had ordered a beer at the bar beforehand and weren't in any hurry so no biggy. Service was good, cool atmosphere, I'd say we'll definitely go back!

Great beer but I had the beet fritter salad and it was burnt. I was super hungry so I ate it anyway.

I was not very impressed with this place. I wanted to like it more than I did. The burger was good but way overpriced for the offering. The beer was good but not outstanding.

Since environment is part of how good a place to eat is, I cannot give this place five stars. The food is delicious, as are the ciders, but avoid sitting in the bar area. It seems that is where the employees very noisily hang out which is very annoying. It's also a bit chilly in the bar area. In the further back sitting areas things are warmer and a better environment for being able to talk without having to yell over employees and their friends. The pretzels are amazing and their burgers are great. Fried Kimchee pickles are darned good too.

Menu has excellent sounding items. My husband ordered the pork shoulder which was great. I had high hopes for my burger, which was fine, but I was not impressed. My mother's steak was overcooked, which they gladly fixed and the sides were excellent. Heard decent things about the fried chicken. Prices were a little high for the overall rating and for what I would expect to pay at most breweries.

Great service, excellent and interesting menu. Especially liked the veggie burger. The 8 ciders available were great for my wife too. Parking however....simply isnt available on a weekend, be ready to walk.

Sasquatch was a great time! We had more positives than negatives for sure... Here they are... Positives: 1. Great atmosphere: it has a cabin...grandmas house type of feel with wood everywhere and old time photos. Very laid back and the staff are very laid back which is great. 2. The beer. Great selection. We had a taster and every one was great. My fiancé is a beer lover and definitely approved of all the tastes. 3. Food: the tuna salad was decomposed and delicious. The appetizers were great. Top notch olives for sure. Also they have a great selection of gluten free. Vegan and the burger is grass fed... Definite plus! 4. Cider selection. We didn't try any but they have 8 ciders that's almost a dozen! Definite plus. 5. Organic wine. Cool. Negatives: 1. Cold buns. The fiancé's burger bun was cold... Not fun. 2. Long wait. You can order beer while you wait... We maybe came right at the wrong time because it was pretty smooth the rest of the night... Those are the only negatives really... Overall we had a great experience would definitely come here again and their porch seating is great in the summer... So I've heard... !!

It was good. Price was high for the amount of food we got. Ordered the Baker & Spice baguette with the leek blue cheese butter and the buttermilk fried chicken with fingerling potatoes and gravy. Both very good, baguette would have been better warm.

this was my second time visiting this place, (the first time i was delighted, a girl was my waitress and she was super nice), im a tourist, i have friends living near by, so i decide to go and sit outside and drink a beer, but outside was so cold for me,so i decide change the table and get a new table inside, but the rasta waiter were super rough with me and my friend, and we decide to leave, he fight with my friend for nothing, and his attitude was RACIST??? i don't know, my friend told me that waiter was nice before, with all white ppl so we don't understand what change that day, but that make me feel bad, cause i though that Portland was a step further racism and that kind of behaves, i hope the owner talk with this guy, the food good, the beer delicious, so bad that is not open for a multicultural clients or some waiters don't..

So my wife stopped by here one night with the daughter as they headed out to a art class. At that time they had been open about two weeks and she told me they made a good burger and we had to try them out. So after a few more weeks we decide to give it a shot. The parking is a nightmare when it is raining this little lot is nothing more than mud with a few rocks and some deep mud puddles so be prepared for muddy shoes. You walk into a little tiny bar area and they walk you past the kitchen to a table in the back. The food was very good I started with some popcorn which was hot and fresh and salty enough to have you drink down a few beers before dinner comes out. I then had the burger with blue-cheese and bacon and frys and it was delicious with a nice char taste. I wanted to try the desert which I saw on the way in but at this point I was too full to even think about it. Happy hour is the best time to go as you can save quite a bit on the price of many items. If you can park on the street and save yourself from the mud.

Went here on a Friday night and waited 20 minutes to be seated. No big deal. Once we sat down, looked over the menu and ordered the waitress recommends that we order an appetizer because it will take one hour to get our food. What! I wish someone mentioned that when we put our name down to be seated. I had my 8 month old daughter with me and I knew she wouldn't last so we went on a walk around the block to distract her while the rest of my family sat at the table. The waitress wasn't kidding. We ordered at 7:20PM and our food didn't arrive until 8:15PM. I ordered the veggie burger since the patty was made in house with beets and black beans. Pretty tasty, but the patty fell apart as I was eating it. Beers were good and the atmosphere was nice. I would probably avoid this place on a busy night unless they expand the kitchen or figure out how to prevent such long wait times.

Very disappointing...This place is NOT family friendly: some of the wait-staff are outright hostile to children and families; *very* off-putting - my husband actually said something to her, and while she acted like she didn't know what he was talking about, she was aware that she had a nasty attitude, but didn't sincerely apologize or try to make it right. The food was also quite mediocre, although the grass-fed beef burger had some taste (but that's because it's grass fed), and my husband does like the beer. Still, not worth coming back for, and not a place I would recommend to those with children, or looking for truly tasty eats.

Looked on their website and saw they had poutine on their Happy Hour menu. I have been looking for a place to get some french fried, gravy soaked, cheese curd awesomeness since a recent trip up to Canada. Unfortunately, when we arrived, we were told they did not serve it, and it was replaced by some sort of french fry and cheese sauce dish. Disappointed, as the poutine was the primary reason we went, we ordered the three non-IPA beers they had on tap, two soft pretzels with cheese sauce, and some deep fried kimchee pickles. The beer was decent. I had been in the mood for a nice session ale anyway and found theirs to be very good. Not overly hoppy, nice clean and refreshing. We also had their stout and saison. The saison was good, spicy. The stout was also good, not too bitter, as they can be. The house-made pretzels were delicious, and the cheese sauce (which costs an extra buck) was awesome. The pickles were good, thick slices height wise, and had a pleasant heat (spice) to them. The batter tends to fall off when attempting to dip it into their basil aioli sauce. The waiter was pleasant, though going on a Friday turned out to be far more busy than expected. Wish they had more outside seating, other than just along a sidewalk type thing. We'll go again for some beer and snacks, someday.

Normally when I try beers at a craft brew house there are standouts in the mix. There are no standouts at Sasquatch because every one that I have tasted has been good from their lighter ales to their Hoppy IPAs to their nitro stouts. It's not that I'm not picky (see my other beer reviews) it's just that all their brews satisfy my need for balanced flavor. However, the chicken fingers and sausage and kale soup were definitely stand out bites.

The beers, service, and atmosphere don't disappoint. Unfortunately, the food did. Kimchee pickles were pretty damn good, but my grilled romaine salad was dressed with a Godzilla amount of tarragon. I tasted it until the next morning. Had to even stop off at the food co-op for a stick of Extra!(TM) chewing gum. The seasonal burger was a little overcooked for medium rare, the bun was strangely a little raw and anemic, the bacon slice was the champion of the whole meal. I'll be back for some beers, and perhaps a few slices of bacon, hold the burger.

Great ales, excellent food, nice servers, cool space with good outdoor seating. I think that they need more help in there- it's not that the servers are slow, there aren't enough. Perhaps it's a sign of how good the place is that they sometimes get overwhelmed. I'll keep going there.

The West Side always needs a little help on the cool factor, and it's pretty slim pickins' compared to the rest of Ptown for brew pubs. So Sasquatch has definitely brightened up our SW corner of the city. The beer is pretty good, but the burger was so good, I had to stop and think of the last time I had a better one. You could taste the fresh. The other dishes were good too - like the pasta with the fried egg on it! It's kind of small place, so you're pretty crammed the whole time, but it's got a nice neighborhood vibe to it. Haven't experienced any service problems...Looking forward to going back.

I've been here a few times and I have never been unhappy with the food. Today my dining partner and shared the kimchee pickles and we both had the house burger and fries. The pickles are very good: tart and delicious! The burger was extremely flavorful and the bun was perfect for holding the juicy beef and toppings. I am impressed that the fries are MUCH better than previous visits. They used to just be an undercooked pile of greasy potatoes. It appears the cook is now utilizing the dual fry method of first blanching the fries and then re-frying them at a higher temperature to crisp them up. My only complaint today was the server. She never said hello....never asked how our entrees or appetizers were....she seemed perturbed when we asked for a refill on our beverages....she never thanked us for coming in. Perhaps she was having a bad afternoon, but with so many great restaurants in PDX, a little friendly service goes a long way to make me want to come back!

I soooooo want to love this place! It's in my neighborhood, it has outdoor seating, it's kid friendly, it has great beer and the food is good... When you get it. We've eaten there about 6 times. On the forth time it took 45 minutes to get 3 sandwiches, one of them was for my son who I luckily had brought snacks for otherwise the other patrons of the restaurants would have been annoyed with the hungry grumpy toddler too. The waitress is what really got to me, unless I had asked about how long it was going to take, could we pay, can you stop chitchatting with your co-worker and give me my card back so I can get my tired child home, she would have ignored us. I thought after that experience I wouldn't go back, right? Wrong. Out of desperation (nothing with decent food was open mid afternoon for a late lunch) we went back. The manager actually recognized me and apologized and gave me a growler. Awesome! I thought, I'm loving this place again! Maybe it was just a bad night they had before. Yay I'm happy now! Well, apparently $#!% hits the fan if the manager isn't around. We went back last week and this time it took ONE HOUR to get two burgers! The server (a different one thankfully) was really nice and apologetic and managed to get the kitchen to rush our son's grilled cheese- that only took 1/2 hour! And they also comped our drinks. So they have definitely improved on their customer service, now if they could only get their kitchen to follow suit, they would be golden. Until then, I'm just going to get my growlers refilled and eat at home.

Great neighborhood brewery. The food is a step up from typical pub food, though at times I do wish they had some more standard pub sandwiches. Great for small plate sharing. Beer is really really good and they recently expanded their guest cider selections. Lots of outdoor seating. Perfect place for a sunny afternoon drink and snack or a real meal.

Nice to have another alternative in SW Portland! This was our second visit. Nice to see they were pleasantly crowded and they had outdoor seating - although since it's right on Capitol Hwy. we chose to sit inside. Went to the way back room as the other room was pretty crowded and seemed a little too noisy for our mood. I'm glad we did as one of the babies started screaming and then that woman's laugh really carried! I felt like I was in Marcos - don't know if it's just a SW personality thing or just acoustics. People don't seem to be as respectful of other people's space and it can be quite loud. Anyway the food was what I was writing about. i absolutely loved the Grilled Romaine salad. Real anchovies, soft cooked eggs - but on the side so you can mix in what you want. Delicious and filling for just $8! A nice glass of wine and it was perfect. My husband had a cheese plate and the greens salad and was also very happy. He had some home-grown beer and was happy as a clam! Service wasn't over the top but it was okay and we were in the back room so maybe we were out of the way. All and all a good experience, and we'll be back!

I was not expecting much having dinner at this low-key brewery, but the meal I had there was actually memorable! I had the home-made gnocchi: their consistency was perfect, and the roasted corn, fresh cherry tomatoes and pistachios on top created a well-balanced sweet symphony in my mouth! But the climax was the dessert: a chocolate raspberry pie. Indescribable. One of the best dessert I have ever had, period. I also love that they offer smaller portions of their entrees, no need to make sure to keep some room for dessert.

Went here when it first opened. Wasn't disappointed, but wasn't exactly impressed either. Decided to give it another go recently and was quite pleased. I've tried many a veggie burger, and I've found black bean burger patties can be on the dry, bland side. Not so at Sasquatch. The black beans combined with roasted beets add great texture and flavor, with a delectable crust all over the patty. One of my favorite veggie burgers I've found.

Since my original review I have been back a couple times. Instead of improving the menu and service, things seem to be getting worse. On one trip, I ordered the grilled romaine salad, that was over grilled and underseasoned. The food is overpriced and the servers seem distracted. I wish that there was a larger bar section, and more wine and beer options. I really wanted to like this place, but for the price, I would rather go somewhere else.

My husband had the burger with carrots, jalapeños, and cabbage on it. It was delicious. My girls had the macaroni and cheese. It also really good. I tasted 5 of the beers. Liked them all. Prefer the pale ale though. I ordered the fried chicken and fingerlings. They were the only disappointment. The gravy sauce was not good and the chicken pieces were either dry or too fatty. Potatoes were drowned in the gravy. Overall though i still give it a 4 because of great service and almost all the food was tasty.

We had the bad double combination of Greg our waiter who that thought he was at 5 star resort and was serving room temperature Riesling. When we commented on the warm wine he was gracious enough to offer an ice cube. Come on! His overall attitude was obnoxious. Thank goodness the Stout was cold and the salad tasty. My advice is run if Greg is your waiter. (PS....the staff has always been friendly and down to earth, Greg is the exception and not the rule.)

Haven't had a bad meal there yet. Exceptional beer list - great locally-brewed options, which seem to change often. I was able to catch one of their first "sasquatch" brews as well. The food options are creative & delicious. Great burgers, love the grilled romaine, and the pasta special with the brussels sprouts and blue cheese blew my mind. Definitely a great place to go with a big group, or for an easy night out.

My Son and I stopped in at Sasquatch for an early Dinner last Saturday. It was an easy walk over from where we were at Hillsdale, and from the outside looked like an attractive place to try out. We were seated in the back "Sports Bar" section and enjoyed watching the high-scoring Oregon-USC game on the big screen. Go Ducks! It was also Happy Hour, of which I took full advantage with a Burger and a Beer (what else?). The Kid was hungrier and opted for a full order of Fish and Chips. It was all good. It was also great to great to spend some quality time with my Son in such a comfortable and relaxing environment.

I can't decide if the beer or the food is better. The servers here are also a large part of why we keep coming back- they're like, the nicest servers I've had in Portland, ever. Super personable. This place gets packed, so be smart with your timing, or be prepared to wait (with beer in hand, of course)!

I LOVE microbreweries! I visit them often. We stopped into Sasquatch for a couple of beers following a great dinner...only to be totally disappointed. No comment on the food as we ate next door, only applies to the beer. I had a glass (unfinished by 3/4) of the dry hopped IPA. First taste was decent but the aftertaste was unbearable. So, I decided to try the girly berry Belgium. Flat. Tasteless. Blah! Also drank maybe a quarter of it. Tasted my husband's Nitro stout, again just an okay beer. Also tried his India red ale......flat...tasteless. Very disappointed! Just happy I didn't try my usual sampler as you figure out of four beers one would tickle your fancy. PS....less than impressed with the staff too. Comments withheld. They must dislike serving such crappy beer!

Sasquatch's veggie burger is the best I've had in Portland so far. The beets are almost buttery, and the black beans are savory. The avocado relish makes it even more decadent, and the bun is very tasty. The french fries are pleasantly potato-ey, not too thick, not too thin. They also make a pretty good stout. Service was ok, and the prices are pretty decent. If summer ever comes back, you should sit on the patio.

They get 2 stars mainly because I have gone here a few times and had okay food and brews. My last experience here last year will guarantee I don't go back. A friend and I went in for happy hour, had some small plates and a beer and then our partners who were working till 5 met us afterward for another drink and some more food from the dinner menu. By this time it was becoming main dinner time, but we all felt we had ordered enough food to continue our deep conversation at our table. Upon ordering a third drink for the two of us and second for the guys (we had been there a little over two hours) the waiter told us to hold on and walked over and spoke to his manager. The manager came over and told us that we were all being cut off. What?!?! All of our jaws dropped. Obviously upset, we repeatedly asked for an explanation and the manager said there were complaints about our table. Hmmm...I am pretty sure the complaint was from the server who wanted to turn the table for the main dinner rush. I always tip extra if we hold up a table, but this server missed out and shame on the manager for allowing this. The whole point of going out with friends is to enjoy conversation. What is the point of a brewery that doesn't allow it? Sasquatch would definitely be disappointed.

Wow, such a huge improvement!!!! I would have never set foot in Sasquatch again, but we now live very close, and there are so few other options. I've eaten 3 times at Sasquatch now since my offensive visit this past January. Each of the 3 times the food has been quite good, and the service impeccable. We now have twin newborns, and the restaurant is very accommodating to serving families... So nice to be able to dine out somewhere with grown up food and drinks with the kiddos. Never thought I'd be saying this, but I think we're becoming regulars.

I went in here today, for lunch, and they let me order off of the dinner menu. They also split my two orders up evenly and into two separate bags. The cook made the wrong mac and cheese and ended up giving me the wrong one as well! The beer I got was the heighly heights pale ale and it was great. It was the perfect amount of hops and smooth. The waiter was great; he is a cool guy and really went above and beyond. I wish I would have tipped more, but I paid before I got my food. I have no idea why this place isn't packed all of the time. I will be back soon.

Holy yum, this place is excellent and I'm super picky! Their happy hour menu is especially affordable. We had the best veggie burger ever. The patty incluees beets, black beans and shallots. I also had a grass fed beef burger which was also delicious. The poutine was ok, it had a nice touch of their home pickled peppers. The location is convenient and I love the outdoor seating. The server was friendly and the service was great. I'd have to explore the beer menú better to find something I like.

This place was amazing. If I could afford to eat out like this on a regular basis this would be my go to spot. I had Iggy's Veggie Sandwich which was incredible. Seriously. Never ever have I had a better sandwich. I seriously considered getting another one when I finished it- but was too full. It came with awesome fresh fries that were perfectly salted. Other members in my party also enjoyed their food immensely (it seriously was almost a religious experience). The fried chicken looked amazing, as did the Beet Veggie Burger. The food is gourmet, yet rustic and down to earth. Simple ingredients combined to create complex flavor is an art that Sasquatch has definitely perfected. For dessert I had the chocolate torte. It was rich, and delicious, but not too sweet. The atmosphere was great and the service was quick and friendly. The style was definitely 'authentic Portland' if that makes any sense. I will be back as soon as I can. Seriously thank you Sasquatch :)

Great fried pickles, pork shoulder little dry, use to pork being ultra moist. Burgers are burgers no complaints there. Food menu and prices seem to be a little high for a brewery. But cozy little spot close to home. Beer selection is hop heavy.

Let me just start by saying I was gladly impressed with this place. Sasquatch Brewing is located in the old Alba spot. Which was one of Portlands best resturants, however that location is tough. Its just after the main road turns off and can be hard to spot. Now I was here a few weeks ago, so they didn't have any of their own brews on tap yet. They had about seven to ten guest taps though with a few nice ones to choose. At first look at the menu did not excite me. Typical pub food, burgers, mac and cheese a few sandwiches and some salads. However, all the food we tried exceeded my expectations!! The grilled caesar was very nice the mac and cheese had roasted sweet tomatoes and spicy bread crumbs on top and the burger was good if not just a bit over cooked for my mid rare order. The look of the place is great! Lots of dark wood and it is separated into a few small dining areas. There is a really cool tavern/pub feel in there. The only issue I had was the service was spotty. I am not going to fault them to much for this, as I know they were still very new and it is not fair to knock a place when they are still trying to get rythum and kinks all worked out. But they did seem like they were trying to hard to be nice, almost forced. And there were so many servers, bussers and managers on the floor that they could barley get around each other, to the point that they actually didn't and dropped a full tray of drinks on to the floor and soaking guests at one table. Thankfully not mine!! But like I said the food here is much better than you might first think. I can't wait to go back and try their beers and different menu items!

Stopped in for a burger at lunchtime today. Not bad. I was expecting the place to be a fully operational brew pub. I guess they haven't started brewing their own beer yet? The beer list is nice and the burger was tasty. I got a small glass of Oakshire Espresso Stout. I noticed they have Hair of the Dog's Fred on tap. That's awesome. If I wasn't drivin', that's what I'd be drinkin'. They're getting a full star just for the Fred. The burger was okay. It was served on an artisan bun and came medium just as I ordered it. The server was sufficiently pleasant and efficient. Of course, at 2:30 on a Sunday, the dining room was far from slammed. Nothing about the place knocked my socks off.

Tom Sims decided to share his brews and give the neighborhood a reason to come out for face time, and it's working great. Sasquatch is the beating heart of Hillsdale. The brewing kettle's in place and his first autumn beers are just weeks away. In the meantime, food and service are carrying the day, winningly. Inspired kitchen staff under direction of Chef Lauren Miller conjure unique, strong flavors with treats like beer-can chicken and fried kimchee--hidden fermentation may be a theme--but they also take even familiar comfort foods up a notch, and then some. Current beers are among Portland's better locals like Lompoc, Laurelwood, and Ninkasi. These arrived at our table with a proud head at even temperatures. I'm eager for the first beer releases on the Sasquatch label. Alex Beard coordinates the show, reconfiguring tables, smoothing snafus before you notice, and keeping the atmosphere warm and congenial.

My veggie burger that I just tried to finish can be summed up by one word: SALTY. Insanely salty, like someone just dumped a whole fistful of salt. Ok, so maybe they just overseasoned this one dish, right? No! My husband's regular burger was also super salty, and my poor kid's little burger was as well. I actually felt like a bad mom for letting my child eat this food! I will say I've never had their beers. And their beers are probably good. This was my fourth time eating here, and even though i've always felt that their fries are too salty, I thought their burgers were pretty good. Plus, i really wanted to like this neighborhood restaurant. But now, sadly, my tongue feels seriously numb and I'm really, really thirsty. It's been a long time since I've had a meal this bad. :(

Oy! A time when a half star would do me a world of good, ya know? Enough with the kvetching -- on to the dishing about the dish. Pops lives less than three blocks from this new pub and was itching to try it, so I motored over and joined him for dinner on a Thursday night. He's in his late 50s and was wondering where all the 20 and 30 somethings were coming from in his older-skewed neighborhood. Either way, the main room was just the right amount of busy but not packed. We split the kimchi fried pickles, which were pretty tasty when the breading ratio was right -- a few got lost in too much deep-friedness. Coulda used a touch more spice too, but I know the chef can't upset the wussy taste-budded masses. I had the blue cheese, brussels sprouts, fig and walnut pasta and washed it down with a Lompoc Proletariat Red Ale. The pasta got me a farklempt like in Coffee Talk -- talk amongst yourself, any subject, Barbara Striesand, like buttah -- and I will be attempting it at home. Beer was good too. Bite of pops' beet/bean veggie burger proved that it was good for a veggie burger. Dahlings, this is a solid 3.5 star experience that should make a good addition to the nosh options in Hillsdale.

This is our new favorite place. Perfect combination of good beer, good prices, and GOOD FOOD! Their fried pickles are THE BEST! The atmosphere is laid back and there is a great mix of all people. No loud music, just the sounds of people talking and having a good time. Usually you expect the beer to be good and the food to get you by, but they actually try really hard to make their food good and unique - and it works! The second time we went we had a much better server who was incredibly nice and fast. They were well staffed so no long waiting. What more can I say about this place? It has it all and you won't be disappointed.

Food and beer are awesome! But service is sub par... A little bit rude and pretty forgetful... We were outside on the deck and we forgotten about for most of the evening. But the kimchee pickles are amazing!!!! The burgers and fries are extremely salty so make sure you have a full glass of water handy. Drink up tasty beers and ciders then you won't care about the service!

Been here twice. Kim chee pickles are awesome! Service is okay and they try a little too hard to be hip. I love grabbing a couple of their appetizers. Havent tried their alcohol yet. Only two times I have been are as DD and while pregnant.

We came in this last Sunday, and were pleasantly surprised to find that we'd arrived during happy hour. All three of us ordered the burger, plus we added a coupla' mixed green salads and an order of fries from the menu. So, burgers are a conundrum: because they're so simple, it seems as though it shouldn't be hard to make/get a good one and, yet, there are many "meh" burgers to be had in this town. Not at this place! Holy Mother of Painted Hills Beef--exquisitely juicy, beefy, and overall delicious, presented on a warm, toasty artisanal bun with the perfect blend of crusty/chewy going on. With oooey goooey melty cheese. Yes, please! Oh yeah, and the cheap hh fries were friggin awesome. I've thought about this meal often in the four days since I've had it, which should tell you something: I highly recommend the burger, salad, and fries, particularly during happy hour when the burger and fries, especially, are a screaming good deal for the quality you receive!

Sasquatch Brewing Company is a local gem! We moved to Portland 7 months ago and SBC is one of our favorite places in all of Portland. We love having a place like this a mile and a half down the road. What makes SBC so good is a little of everything together. The atmosphere is very casual and comfortable which is only reinforced by the wait staff. Many of the SBC staff remember us from time to time coming in and even if not serving us directly will say a quick hello. The entire staff has always been that way! Aside from great service, the other things that draw people in are solid. The menu is not overly length making the SBC very good at the dishes it serves! Tonight we toss props to the kitchen staff because we ordered a burger medium rare and it was prepared spot on! Great job guys! We have made it through many menu items and there really is not a weak spot to speak of. Then there is the beer... the cornerstone of any brew pub. SBC has many of it's own brews that we truly look forward to as well as different guest taps that offer a very good beer selection. The bottom line is that this little local favorite offers something for everyone! A few years ago, my friends and I formed the Sasquatch Athletic Club (SAC). Our group wanted this place to be worth it (partially because of the Sasquatch name), but they exceeded expectations. Great job to all with Sasquatch Brewing Company. Scott R.

A very good local brewpub with good to excellent food and consistently good beer on tap. Their deserts seem much the same, decent to excellent. For the price of up to $19 an entree without anything included (soup, salad, bread, etc), I would expect better consistency in their food taste and especially balance. At happy hour prices, it gets five stars from me, the rest of the time four.

I really wanted to like this place better than I did. We tried it for Happy Hour and unfortunately we weren't that impressed. Pros: great location, great decor, great atmosphere. Also, the service was very nice. And, I LOVE the name! Cons: the food was good but not great (really good salad, greasy burger, so-so fries), the drinks were flat (not good for a pub!), and there were a lot of fruit flies swarming around us the whole time. I know it's hard when the weather is warm to control those little guys, but there were so many that we cut our time short and went home. In a city with so many great options, we probably won't be back.

I know that the business is still just getting off the ground, but I have tried about 7 or 8 menu items and have been very, very happy with each choice. The fried pickles are a MUST. And I highly suggest you give the fried chicken a shot. It's fantastic. Also, I am not a vegetarian, but I have had the vegetarian burger twice so far and the mushroom burger once.. Everything has been wonderfully unique and delicious! I've literally been thinking about the food off and on craving it, haha. I can;t wait until they have their own brewed beer, but as of now, they have a delicious choice of beers.. I haven't asked if they have PBR because I've tried their other beers.

After a long day pouring beers for Zwicklemania all our group (from Vertigo) wanted was a place to sit, someone to pour us a cold one and some great comfort food! Lucky for us we found it all at Sasquatch, along with wonderful service! I understand the IPA's were great but can personally confirm the Espresso Stout hit the bulls-eye for my refreshment needs. The poutine...ahhhh...mac and cheese....ahhhh....burger and fries looked ahhhhsome :o) I so wish I could remember our servers name-we loved her! Especially knowing that she had also worked Zwickelmania and had to have been as tired as we were, we were impressed with the friendliness and professionalism she still had at the end of the very long day! Thanks Sasquatch, we will be back!

Slow on a Sunday afternoon. Service also slow. Moderate choices on menu. Beer selection moderate as well. Highly recommend the Firestone Walker DBA. In keeping with the NW brewing style, the sasquatch pale ale was totally overhopped. Would recommend the burger with the greasy skin-on fries. Relatively kid-friendly, at least on a Sunday afternoon.

I love this place. Super friendly staff, fresh local ingredients on the menu, and some outstanding brews. Their seasonal burgers are hard to beat--one of my favorites in Portland. Pair that with their beers, and it's a great place. Try the CDA (Cascadian Dark Ale)--it's amazing. I do wish the menu would change more frequently, but then again, maybe it's because I'm there too much! Great back porch area, nice dining room, and they also do growler fills. I am so glad to have this place in SW Portland!

I expected a pretty standard menu and tap selection so despite driving by almost daily, I hadn't stopped in yet. After I did I was pleasantly surprised by the seasonally-inspired dishes. Delicious soup, tasty veggie meals (can't comment on the burgers and such, but my dining mate seemed pleased), friendly servers, and a classy interior. Yay I'm a fan. This is definitely the best place to grab a beer in SW Portland right now. I hope they stay on their game, and keep up the service and food quality. Also a big plus - I'm a take out fan, and there wasn't any dirty looks when we strolled up and asked them to pack it up for our at-home picnic.

On Friday, our day off, my boyfriend and I stopped in here for lunch. We're on a run to try all of the local breweries this year. Sasquatch name alone sounded cool so we headed over to HIllsdale to check it out. Really cute space, I like their set up. Menu was small but well done, I just wish I had tried the actual food instead of being a fattie and wanting to have dessert for lunch. My boyfriend got a taster tray of their four home brews he picked. He liked them all, good reports there. I got the Oregon Session Ale. As session ales go, pretty standard, I didn't love it however. I don't think it was one of those beers I could drink over and over again, as a session kind of should be. Otherwise, it was good. I decided to get to eat this parfait peanut butter yogurt ganache thing with bananas. Sounded awesome on paper! However, it arrived in a pint glass, with all of the different flavors layered. Looks awesome, but to eat however not so easy. The ganache completely hardened in the center so it was just like a ball of chocolate that was hard to navigate with the dessert spoon. It actually was pretty good but the execution of the dish left a lot to be desired. Difficult to eat and kind of too busy. My boyfriend got the soup, bacon leek and loved it. I think he also got a sandwich but I do not recall what kind, he ate it all though so it must have been enough of a good thing. I liked this place and I'll probably give it another shot, but will probably go for a more crafty beer and no dessert.

Mediocre food and beer. This neighborhood deserves better. Better go to the east side if you want to be inspired.

  • Cody W.

They're going for a little bit more upscale vibe than they can deliver, and unfortunately, it's priced accordingly. The burgers are decent, as is the chicken apple sausage, and the appetizers & soups are similarly interesting (fried kim-chee pickles & curry soup for us). But it just didn't warrant the extra few bucks on the strength of the little touches of personality that were ultimately provocative more than delicious. Case in point, the burger features "pickled green tomatoes," which stirs me to a-wonderin' about what I've been missing all my pedestrian life, but once tasted is pretty indistinguishable from pickles+tomatoes. Bottom line: a good meal for which you may pay a few bucks over value. Don't go if that bothers you.

  • Marla S.

A welcome addition to the neighborhood! The food is really great and fresh, marks above regular pub fare. We've been weaving our way through the menu, even though it's tempting to stick with favorites. Fried chicken, beet fritters, seasonal burger, fries, mac n' cheese, meat plate...haven't had a mis yet. The only downside is it's easy to rack up a bill as you skip around the small plates. So try happy hour!

Considering the noticeable lack of Sasquatch Brews or Sasquatch Memorabilia, I am rating this place pretty high. I am giving them the benefit of the doubt. They have not yet received the okay from OLC to begin pouring their craft brews, which was admittedly a letdown. Thankfully, they have a smart selection of local craft beers. Their seasonal burger, though beautifully hand formed and seasoned, was smothered in a cloyingly sweet squash compote that thankfully was balanced out by the salty smoke of thick cut bacon. The potato bun was chewy and starchy, and seriously would've benefited from some time on the grill. The hand cut fries were crispy, salted thoughtfully and not served in ridiculous pile but rather a perfectly acceptable serving size! What a concept! Now, the burger gets an B+, but the atmosphere gets a C. The chic, neutral walls and hyper-gloss hardwood floors are complimented by a few Pendelton wool wall hangings and a mounted deer head. Apparently, they are referring to a Sasquatch "state of mind" and employing the term as a catch-all for Oregon culture. In a town where a large majority of Bigfoot field researchers conduct their work, calling your restaurant Sasquatch and then denying the very cultural phenomenon of your namesake decreases your value with what should be your biggest supporters. The true tragedy of it is that it robs from a small town, beer brewing, true Bigfoot aficionado the chance to open up a Bigfoot theme bar called Sasquatch Brewing Company in Portland. I mean come on, imagine the beer labels! That place would be a smashing success. Well, if you live in the Hillsdale neighborhood, enjoy your new neighborhood brewpub, and make sure not to expect anything based on it's name. Because that would be waaaay to easy.

While the Seasonal Burger with squash compote was pretty good, the Grilled Romaine Salad w/ Anchovies hardly had any anchovies and the lettuce didn't look grilled at all. In fact, it was tiny for the price. If you do small portions, Sasquatch, you should at least make it taste amazing. We had such high hopes and we left feeling disappointed. The beer was good, but the food needs help ... or more zing. I would recommend this restaurant, but I'd tell people to avoid the salad.

I read all of the reviews and I was prepared for anything but what I got was a fantastic evening of food and drink. I had the fried chicken and the grilled romaine and it was fabulous. The service was great and I will definitely go back when they get their brewery going in a few weeks.

I love their beer. They were serving a Hair of the Dog's beer as well as two of their own. They had a brown ale on Nitro that I just wanted to drink forever. The food was good and the deserts are amazing. I always stop by for a beer and dessert on my way home if I can.

Just thinking about Sasquatch makes me happy. They easily have the tastiest and most creative veggie burgers in Portland. The avocado and sporuts the put on top of them are light and delicious. Their fries are homemade, crispy and tasty. To be honest, that's all I have eaten there, but the mac n cheese looks pretty delicious and appears to be made with real, actual cheese. Onto the drinking part- the Brown and IPA are really good and we waited pretty anxiously for them to release their own beers there. In the meantime, I have been really happy with their rotating Hair of the Dog taps. We have never had a bad experience here, even with kids. The kids love the basket of toys to keep them occupied, and the wait staff seem pretty conscientious about not keeping people waiting. The bartender is a pretty laid-back, super nice guy that seems to have a lot of pride in what they are serving and the business they have built. We live in NE now, but would totally drive over to Hillsdale just to get our Sasquatch fix. The atmosphere of the place, combined with the food and beer make it one of our favorite places in Portland. So go there, now.

i was visiting the portland area for a business trip. we finished working fairly late, and i offered to find a place to eat. a little yelping, and i find a brewery / self-proclaimed gastropub not too far away with a decent looking menu. gastropub?! this place looked like a family restaurant. and they only had 2 beers with their name on it. service was off as well, but the waitress did compensate us for forgetting to put in orders for two meals. i had a bowl of minestrone soup and the beet fritter appetizer as my entree - the soup was greasy and bland, and was more of a vegetable soup than minestrone (no noodles?), and the fritters were pretty tasty. overall, not a bad meal, but i wish i would have found someplace better.

The food is fantastic and the beer gets better and better every time I am in there. Parking can be tricky but this place is worth the effort.

The food is overpriced for what you get unless it's Happy Hour. The beer is good. The service has been hit or miss, mostly miss. And, servers should refrain from talking about customers in front of other customers - what a turn off & comments were extremely rude. You're not that hip & couldn't you use the job in this f'in economy?! Get over yourselves.

I am a regular at this place, and the reason is... THE BEER. It's excellent. Even varieties I seldom drink elsewhere, I will drink here. Case in point: the Bertha Brown. Usually Browns are too sweet for me, but not here. Their beers are beautifully balanced and flavorful. The food is pretty good too - a cut above regular pub food. Staff is friendly and the atmosphere is great. Sasquatch is a very welcome addition to SW!

The pub is a little tricky to get to and parking can be a challenge but it is worth the visit. This is one of the last remaining pubs for my wife and I to visit in Portland. We stopped by Friday evening and enjoyed our visit once we found a parking spot and hiked back to the brewery. I had the Chicken Basil Sausage which I thought was pretty good but I was there for the beer. I had the Red Electric and the Ft. George Drunkin Pumpkin. The Sasquatch beer Red Electric was very good. I normally like red beers to begin with and this one met my standards for quality. Definitely a place to check out in SW Portland considering that there isn't too many quality pubs to visit.

Update: It;'s been open a week and we've already been there twice now. Tried a whole different set of items, and they were just as good, if not better than the first. Already thinking about our next visit. I'm saving that last star for when they have their own house-brew available.

Pretty good for SW, a pub menu with solid beers. Nice service and ample seating. The bar itself is tiny.

Went at Happy Hour. Liked the Beet Fritter that is on the Happy Hour menu. Had a hard Cider, which they have several kinds of. Lots of inside tables to sit at. Parking is not great. I see that as the biggest problem.

More than two stars for the location and the decor/atmosphere and the service, but I just can't embrace the menu. It's just missing.....something?! Had the Catfish fish and chips this evening. Love Catfish and rarely see it on a menu in this area. Pretty fishy. Probably frozen for quite some time. Cornbread batter just fell apart. Very tasteless. Fries were so-so. Hated the slaw. I'd suggest they go back to the drawing board on the fish and chips especially with a $15 price tag. Not worth it! Wine list adequate. Bar seating was comfortable and pleasant. Chris, my server, was friendly and quick, so no complaints on the service. Overall, just an average experience. I'd really like to like this place and may try again.

I was surprised by Sasquatch Brewing. A really nice venue. We had the fried Chicken which was very very excellent, and the Mac n Cheese at our servers suggestion. The service was good, and our waitress was even a good sport when the smartass in our group asked her to give us the dessert menu in a British accent. They do not yet have their beer up and running, but I'm told the first batch is in the works. Based on their guest tap offerings, they understand good beer. Great local breweries are lacking on Westside, so I'll go out of my way to support Sasquatch this season in hopes they make it. Looking forward to my first pint of their brew.

Went Sunday early afternoon. The Seasonal Burger and the in-house Pale Ale were both great. Burger was cooked to order and done just right. The fries were some of the best we've had. You won't have room for desert. Enjoy.

Was our first time going here and it was fantastic. Their menu rivals Meriwether's in NW Portland and is absolutely topnotch and their beer list is fantastic. Was reasonably priced as an appetizer, 2 entrees, 3 beers and the extremely good peanut butter parfait desert was $50.

Unimpressed. The service was seemingly indifferent to our questions about the menu and seemed put off that we were having difficulty deciding. Not quick or helpful at all. The menu was average as was the beer. Overall I'd probably go elsewhere rather than try it a second time....

  • Holly M.

Everything I've ordered has been fabulous! The pretzel and mustard are addictive, we've ordered seconds. The waitress brought a wrong beer on accident and quickly realized, giving us the mistake beer and the one that was ordered. The dining room atmosphere is really casual and outdoor seating is available too. Go there to enjoy high quality brewery food and micros!

The food here was excellent. I had the veggie sandwich with fries. It was delicious, definitely one of the best veggie sandwiches I have had. The fries were also very good. I was happy to see that they had more than one option for vegetarians too. The beer was also good, I had the pale ale and it was a reasonable price. We sat outside, didn't have any wait. The server was very friendly, knowledgeable, and attentive. Will definitely be back for more!

Beer was great (had the Summer Ale and the Brown). My wife had the fish and chips, and I had the veggie burger. My burger was okay, but my wife didn't like her fish too much. Overall, I like the place based on the beer. We thought the service was great.

I really want to like this place but the few times I've been in here it hasn't been a good dining experience. Not a fan of the dining space near the bar area. We ended up sitting at the bar and ordered the hamburger well done with no mustard. I know, I know, who orders a burger well done...but I do. And it came back Medium Rare with mustard. The owner say it wasn't cooked and we sent it back. They were really quick to make another burger, that also came back Medium Rare. While I appreciate them comping the meal, who can't cook a burger?

  • Jennifer S.

Heard good things about them, gave it a try pros: beer selection kim chee pickles decent but nothing to swoon over: burgers kids menu chickpea dip cons: the horrific parking!!!! our waitress was a dummy with a very awkward manner there was a crack in my pint glass prices for what you get noise level inside-super loud and echoey Maybe if I lived closer, I'd try it again, but it doesn't seem like they do anything better than a whole lot of other restaurants in Portland.

Finally! A decent alternative to McMenamins in SW Portland. We've enjoyed this place twice, and we will be back. The food is creative and tasty for pub food, and they have a good selection of beers and wines by the glass. We appreciated that several of the snacks are good for sharing, and they have good prices, especially at happy hour. Welcome, Sasquatch! You've added just a little bit of coolness to Hillsdale.

  • Cassandra V.

My group had happy hour burgers and fries all around and only one of us got a house beer; I got a guest tap. The burgers were amazing. The bun kind of tasted like an underdone biscuit, which was delicious, but made my stomach a little upset. The fries were delicious and their homemade sauce tasted like a combination of nacho cheese and mayo, which was also delicious. The beers, however, were a little on the pricy side at 4.95 (I believe) a pint. The happy hour drops the price on one beer of their pick. I got a stout and it was a stout, nothing special that I noticed and I could get good stouts cheaper. I know that it's a small microbrewery but if I went back there I would be going for the food, not the beer. If the happy hour was for all beers and not just one (which, at the time, was an IRA) then I'd be drinking there more often. The waitstaff seemed really disorganized and they were out of the beer my friend wanted. He ordered a different one, then changed his mind to try the happy hour beer, I guess she either forgot or didn't hear him but we got charged for the full price beer. When I asked she said all the beer prices are the same. I tried to explain we wanted the happy hour beer but she told us it wasn't the happy hour one so she charged us full price. In my opinion it was her fault not ours, therefore she should have charged us the happy hour price. The food was worth the waitstaff though and we will most likely be back there soon!

Love this place. It is an ultimate neighborhood restaurant: interesting non-pub fare -and I mean that in the nicest way - yet truly offers something for everyone. My husband loves their beer -first batch of their own Healy Heights Ale is now available!- we all dig the food (my new fave: grilled romaine salad was perfection on the plate) and my kid loves playing with the etch-a-sketch. It's rapidly become our go-to place for date night, gatherings with friends, happy hour...you get my point. A most welcome addition to Hillsdale, and to all of Portland.

I went when they first opened and wasn't impressed, but I thought I'd give them a second chance. Unfortunately, they seem to have perfected serving hamburgers that have a strong resemblence to hockey pucks. Both times, way overcooked and devoid of flavor (overly lean?). Service is good and their kimchee pickle appetizer is excellent (although kimchee is not the proper name, should be called banchan pickles). But catfish for fish and chips? Is the chef from Missouri?

  • Shawn P.

You'd think a new restaurant would actually acknowledge a customer walking in the door. I waited and waited for someone to greet me. When another group came in they were asked if they needed seating. Only then by speaking up did someone actually acknowledge me. Bad start. I've been dying for a place like this in SW and had high hopes. The fried chicken was OK, but small portions. My wife's pork was horrible. Dry like it came from the bottom of the barbecue. She could not finish it. The atmosphere....dark and not very inspired. For the cost of the meal, it was pretty bad. I'll probably try them again, but right now was very disappointed.

Yes, oh yes! They are making their very own beer now and it should be done soon. Meanwhile, the wide variety of beers we tasted is excellent. Excellent service from friendly and adorable staff. And you have your choice of dinner in the dining room or drinks at the bar. Score!

We've been looking to try this neighborhood joint, and had the opportunity last night. OMG! So impressed! While the menu was a bit on the short side, they did what they did well. We had fried pickles to start (a bit rich, and they could be a little less battered, but overall were yummy). I split the beer can chicken with my son. My husband had the meat plate and it was good but a bit heavy. We split the spiced chocolate cake (I had my eye on the almond creme brûlée, but they ran out) and it was to die for! We will definitely come again, and next time we're walking so I don't have to split the dessert!

Wow, just what I needed! It's a great place to eat cause they have food for and food my wife(vegan) can eat! I can say the food here serves as a benchmark for all food that breweries make. The staff was very nice!!

This place has some real potential. We were there within the 1st two weeks of opening. It was extremely busy and they don't quite seem to have their service figured out. The food that came out was great though. Looking forward to trying their beer.

they're happy hour is great. their burgers especially when ordered rare are amazing. they make awesome beer especially the Imperial IPA. parking is the only real problem this place has. Service has always been fine for me, I don't know why so many complaints about staff...

  • Casey D.

The kind of place that Hillsdale has been waiting for. Great food and beer, reasonable prices, nice atmosphere, what more could you ask for. I went on their soft opening night, which was packed, but excitement of everyone there and the cheerfulness of the staff made it fun. They had some expected hitches for their opening night (waiting on clean glasses) so we definitely had to be a little patient, but our server was great about explaining about what was happening and they made sure that we never had to wait too long for our beer. Its such a nice change of pace compared to the McMenamins up the street, where you wait for 15 minutes to be served when its not crowded and you can see your server just hanging out with the other staff. No McMenamins attitude here, like I said everyone on staff is cheerful and friendly. Both the manager and owner came over to say hi to our table, and they seem to really be making an effort to get to know people in the neighborhood (where they both live). As for the food, I had the burger with fries, which was one of the best burgers I've had recently. The beer selection is small but good, but they're working on getting their own brewery up and running so what they have now is sort of temporary. Everything was local and a nice mix of styles, so even though they only had 4 beers on tap I felt like there was something for everyone. I think they'll be getting more local brews on tap in the next few weeks and then have their own around new years once the brewery is built and permits go through. Overall, this is exactly the style of brewpub I like, and I'll definitely be back often!

We have tried to be regular neighborhood customers of Sasquatch -- we like how they built their menu. However, why should we keep trying when: 1) The first couple of times we went (Jan- Feb 2012) they were out of several basic menu items pretty consistently. 2) Two weeks ago I ordered a medium-rare burger there. The center of it was raw and barely warm. The first response from the bartender was "That's just the way the kitchen cooks our burgers, they won't change that." But when I showed him the ball of raw ground meat after I had cut away the crusts, even he made a face and promised to say something to the cooks....but no offer to replace or refund. 3) Just last night I tried to take 2 friends there for a late dinner, just before 9pm -- we were pleased to see there was still a lively atmosphere happening. We had checked their website - they advertised closing at midnight. We were denied dinner service as the cooks had decided to shut down at 9pm, they said. The happy hour menu was a poor substitute for dinner for 3 hungry diners. Nowhere on their website does it indicate time ranges for lunch or dinner -- only that happy hour begins at 9pm. Just plain frustrating when a business does not pay attention to how they are using / training their communications tools - electronic and human. 4) The servers seem like bored, entitled Portland kids who have never learned what it means to be gracious and attentive hosts.

Just went here for the first time last night with some friends. Did as everyone suggested and had the seasonal burger- fabulous!! I ordered a side salad with it and was a little disappointed that it was just lettuce and a couple of snap peas- would have hoped for a few more veggies. All in all good food and good service- I will be back again.

Brand new and it shows. When you enter, there is no clear indication as to the seating protocols. Grab a table? Wait for a host/hostess/server? The elongated nature of the floor plan makes it even more puzzling as you cannot ascertain if there are seats open unless you stare into the windows or roam the floor. Nobody greeted me or offered to help me as I stood in befuddlement in the foyer on a rainy evening. I approached a female server and she told me to stand near the door. She went behind the bar and a gentleman behind the bar told me he would find a table for me. After being seated, I scoped out the menu and ordered the $9 mac and cheese. It came hot but was delivered in a tiny ceramic bowl, about 6 inches across. Not much value on the food offerings. And the mac and cheese was bland and flavorless. The menu is a very meager one at that. They do not yet offer their own beers. I ordered a pint of Vortex IPA and it arrived in what appeared to be a cheater pint. It did not appear to be a full 16 ounces. If I intended to return, I would take a measuring cup and perform the Honest Pint on premises test on their glassware. Not a pleasant outing and wildly overpriced. I have no explanation for some of the earlier, glowing reviews for this place. Those reviews bear no resemblance to my experience at Sasquatch Brewing.

Guest taps were great, unlike the service and food: Hopworks, Fort George, Double Mountain. Waitress couldn't even be bothered to offer us a sample of the beer they brew there on site, and twice now the food, though it sounds good, has been poor.
