Oh, McMenamins. The service is legendary (but not usually in a good way) but I can't quit you. You and those tots!! Cajunized of course. I could eat a side of tots with a whole entree of them. Plus, I've yet to be here and be irritated by the service. I was greeted within minutes of sitting down and got my beverage in a timely manner. The server was clearly very slammed with tables but did a good job trying to serve everyone as quickly as possible. The menu is your typical fair & I still like their burgers. And did I say tots? TOTS. Plus I love Ruby, I like to try out the Rubinator every so often and.... TOTS. There's some McMenamins that deserve their low ratings but so far, this one isn't in that group.

*update I received a wonderful message from them apologizing for the incident and saying they talked with management about the issue. It is good to know that they do care. Ps. Their tots are amazing. PPs. Ask about their secret mixed beers. I love the Rubinator.

It's a McMenamins, so you know what you're getting yourself into. You can always count on this place for consistent food, good service and the beer and wine choices remain the same. For us locals, McMenamins is a good standby when going out to dinner. It's casual, low-key and you can have a pretty nice time. I grew up going to the Raleigh Hills Pub and now as an adult live just up the hill, so it's the perfect go-to place!

This is the perfect place to come anytime of day. The service might be a little slow at times but it really is a community mcmenamins. They are always friendly, open to conversation and will work with you. Food is always spot on, except the hot dogs are hit or miss. I love the turkey sandwich and pear brandy, as well as of course a Ruby beer and gyro. I really can't complain about this spot!

This is a nice roomy McMenamin's location. Not like a Kennedy School or Edgefield, obviously, but among the top of the list of the smaller 'subsidiary' versions. Service was attentive right when we walked through the door. Our server was on top of his game. He took care of us with no nonsense. They actually have the current seasonal cider here (black cherry, at the moment) unlike some other locations. I opted for the Backyard Bird chicken sandwich with grilled onions, bacon and cheddar cheese. It was awesome! Bun tasted fresh baked, bbq sauce was good and smoky. Everything was on point. The clam chowder here is fresh, thick and creamy with plenty of clams. Excellent! My better half had the King Bee sandwich that was a tasty treat of breaded chicken with honey mustard sauce. We love the freshness of McMenamin's side salads and really enjoy those pink pickled onions they put on top but they were missing this time. That was the only bummer in this experience. I definitely would return to this location.

We were here for lunch, Ruby's and stamps for the passport. We loved the atmosphere, very casual and fun! We had great customer service and the food was great! Loved the homemade chips and cheese dip!

Solid service and food. We love McMenamins and we go to a location at least once a week! Today we got a Let's Be Frank hot dog (always super delicious and juicy) and the Monster Grilled Cheese (it was cheesy deliciousness for a rainy afternoon like today) For brews, I got a half-pint of Black Widow and my husband went for his usual Rubinator. Beers are always excellent. We've been in this location several times and we have never had bad service or bad food.

Like all Mcmenamins...the food was great! The turkey sandwich and the soup of the day ( curry lentil soup) was amazing. Waitress Cheryl was great, very attentive and nice. Enjoy!

My coworkers and I come here often and normally have excellent service. Yesterday was not the case. The "manager" taking our phone order was very rude. When we get back to work with our food neither orders are right and our burgers were undercooked. I called to let him know and he could have cared less. It was very disappointing. We will not be getting food from there anytime soon.

Portland institution w/ decent beer and ok food - yeah, don't think so. the beer is ok but you can find better these days. The food, well, I will leave it at that.

Good Service. Nice Atmosphere. It's bright while still having a rustic feel to it. Great location.

Went to lunch here today with my wife. We were promptly greeted, and after we picked our seat, the waitress was quickly out to help us. Our drinks were brought to us right away, and she took our food order. Our food was brought out in less than 10 minutes, and the waitress checked back with us frequently to make sure we were taken care of. She was also very helpful with our passports, getting us our gift cards for completing four of the experience items. The food we had was good. I had a bowl of the beef barley soup, and my wife had some clam chowder and a hot dog. Based on this experience, I'd recommend this McMenamins to anyone.

This place is cozy. I enjoy coming to this neighborhood McMenamins. I always receive great service. It's a nice place to hang out during happy hour and the menu is pretty inexpensive. Overall, good place for a burger and a beer.

I am a big fan of Mcmenamins, this location delights as much as the other pubs. Their seasonal hard cider is delicious, and I am always satisfied with my meal. The service can be on the slow side, even when they aren't very busy. All in all I will continue to visit.

Such a shame, I live so close to this place! Based on the reviews, I was so/so on my opinion of stopping by for some food and drinks. Super slow service, like, really bad slow. The food was decent, it is McMenamins (sometimes, they just all taste the same). The menu was pretty small and not too many options goin' on. I guess this place is convenient for drinks after work or happy hour, but that's about it.

Oh man the service here is terrible! We had forgotten just how bad the service is here. Went here last night with my husband and daughter, I arrived first, took 10 minutes to even be greeted, ordered a beer and tots, took a long time to get the beer and after waiting 30 minutes for the tots they were given to another couple who had just sat down! It took another 20 minutes or so to get them, took 45 minutes to get our dinner order, had to ask if we were ever going to see my husbands beer after waiting 15 minutes for that. Food was OK, but if you want better service and pub food go down the road to the Raccoon Lodge and save yourself from the terrible service here.

Went with some of my band buddys and was surprised that I didn't know of it. Great little place with a cool manager who was patient with our LOUD laughs. We ALWAYS end up getting loud. Sorry! Good food. Nice tap selection.

We're addicted to the cajun tots, and the great selection of local brew. Even found out that their soups are always homemade, which isn't something I always expect, but prefer. This location is right down the street from us, so we frequent the place. The ruby ale is unlike anything I've ever had, and the staff is always really cool and friendly. The service is never very good, but that's not why we go.

McMenamins always comes through - decent service and food at every location. THIS location, however, is in our neighborhood - it's nice to visit, feel comfortable and be friendly with the bartenders and cooks. David especially likes our dachshund, and sends us home with a piece of bacon for him. the daily specials are usually creative, their regular soups are delicious, and we love their house made veggie burger.

Have eaten here a number of times. Food is typically OK. But after tonight we wot be back. After two issues with our drink order and a 60min plus wait for food we were told "oh yeah, it's like a 40 min wait for food. You came in at the rush." No. We has to wait 30 min for our food order to even be taken. Our 3 year old kept asking "where's our dinner mommy?" Not again. I won't ale my unity toddler wait over an hour for her dinner.

The Raleigh Hills Pub is a fairly standard McMenamins. Average food, average beer and service that can be timed with a sun dial. I don't mean to be harsh, but why do just about every McMenamins establishments require the investment of hours to eat there? The food is OK, with the burgers and "Canjunized" tater tots being the best of the options (but not more than just good). The beer, brewed by McMenamins, is average and not up to Portland beer standards. The service is plodding and it is unlikely you will have your drink refreshed before you get through the food. That's bad for a bar...in the case of Raleigh Hills, the place was nearly empty and they couldn't keep my drinks from reaching empty. Go here if you want average pub food - or if you love tots - and you have time to spare.

Very nice service. Good atmosphere and beer. The fresh cut fries The chicken wrap special was almost too healthy for pub food. The fresh cut fries were a little greasy. Enjoyed coloring the children's menu with my daughter.

My husband and I went here for a nice break today. I had the clam chowder and he had the curried lentil soup. My husband really enjoyed his soup; I am not a curry fan. My clam chowder was so good, I wish I had ordered a bowl instead of just a cup. Karen made the chowder with fresh herbs which I believe made all the difference. So delicious. Just perfect for a cool, rainy day. We enjoy this pub very much as I shop at the adjacent cross-stitch store, Acorns and Threads. My husband goes to the pub for a beer while I do my shopping and then I join him for lunch. My other favorite thing there is their green salad with the pickled onions. I always get the raspberry vinagrette dressing. Just fabulous.

Man, people love to rag on McMenamin's. No, it's not five star cuisine that you're going to find in the travel section of the New York Times. It's bar food, made with quality and prepared at a reasonable price. There's over fifty locations all over the Northwest so those who don't have their noses up in the air like it just fine, apparently. This specific location had ample parking and a rather nice patio. We went during Happy Hour and got a pint of their famous Hammerhead for $3.25. Also got a slice of Marionberry pie that was large enough to split. The staff was pleasant and attentive.

I've been here numerous times. Story is usually the same, food and beer are good, service is slow and inconsistent. I've been seated quickly, only to have no service for over 15 minutes. Other times I have waited to be seated for over 15 minutes and have been served immediately. There's not a lot of good options in the area so I will be back.

My hungry, noisy colleagues and I just had a meeting at Raleigh Hills Pub & the service was amazing. Our server, Caesar, knew exactly when to check on us, when to leave us alone, when to come running with ice cream for the pregnant woman in the group AND created individual tabs for each of us without flinching. Thank you so much! See you in two weeks!

I am not much of a McMenamin's fan due to inconsistent food and generally lack luster service but my dad wanted to stop here for a beer when I dropped him off after a movie since it is right by his house. We sat at the bar and it took several minutes for anyone to acknowledge us (sound familiar?) but once the guy behind the bar did, he was friendly, amazingly enough! We ordered a couple of hammerheads and a basket of fries. Our fries came out limp and barely cooked (ringing a bell?) so we asked them to throw them back in again. The guy did so without any attitude but who knows what happened when the fries returned to the kitchen. Oh well. They came back out nice and crisp without any visible sign of being tampered with by the cook. Is it really so hard to cook fries correctly on the first try? I consistently get baskets of belly white fries dripping in grease. Here is a little lesson for all the McMenamin's cooks out there: A. Throw big handful of uncooked fries in basket B. Cook for several minutes C. Lift basket out to check for golden crispness D. If not crisp, drop basket until golden and crisp Ta da! This location has a nice outdoor patio with a firepit, too.

Food is always so-so. And I get that Portland is all about being au natural, but please find an organic hair net for the cooks. Big long blond curly hair in my veggie burger. Barf.

My review update has been sitting here unfinished at the top of my profile for some time now. I can't even be bothered to retell the entire epic tale of dining disaster so I'll just delete what I've scribed so far and keep it short instead. Average dinner + lost credit card + searching for said credit card with a flashlight under other people's feet for a good 20-30 minutes + someone finding it in the dishwasher - $50 (nothing comped or extra even after giving us a good long ride on the financial nightmare simulator) = Eek! Methinks not.

Always tend to get decent food and beer at reasonable prices. The menu changes every once in a while, but not that much. Always can find something worth eating. This last trip my dad and I had our food served quickly, which was good as we were hungry. Staff is always friendly.

I took a friend there for a late night dinner just before closing. I wasn't too hungry, so I had apple cider and sweet potato fries. The fries were to die for - battered and crispy with a little crunch on the outside, moist and sweet on the inside. My friend's burger was very generously sized and looked amazing. The cider was so natural that the solids kept settling; had to stir it every few minutes.

My visit to this McMenamins was horrible, possibly my worst service experience in the Portland area. Think 45 minutes where your waitress does not come to your table, extremely rude interactions with people that are precedented by nothing, and just unexplained hostility. GUH! UGH! BLECK! I was so angry when I left here, I vowed to never come back, and it makes me sad because generally I love McMenamins, but this one SUCKS. If you're looking for one that isn't some spawn of satan pub, check out my McMenamins list. SIGH.

Hey this place has faster service than the cornelius pass roadhouse and they have my favorite burger (communications breakdown). The service while faster was still sub par but hey I think that's what mcmenamins is known for. Good burger as always though.

I'm a sucker for McMenamins, because I love knowing what I'm gonna get when I go somewhere. And this Micky-Macks is one of the best in town. I've never seen it crowded, and the outdoor patio(with a fire!) is absolutely lovely. This would be a great place to while away a summer evening. The staff is helpful, although the service here is not one of their strong points. Still, I've spent hours at this bar and been very happy.

Delicious seasonal ESB. Super friendly server. Tasty Hungarian mushroom-barley soup. Cozy, interesting interior. WTF? Did I just have a GOOD experience at a McMenamins establishment? Not OK, not "not bad"... this was actually a GOOD time. I stopped with the BF on the way home from some errands in Beaverton, and we were very pleasantly surprised with our lunch at Raleigh Hills Pub. The interior of this outpost is, like most other McMenamins, very woodsy, cozy, and interesting to sit and glance around. Unlike most other McMenamins beers, the seasonal ESBs we both had boasted a flavor profile and depth. I had the aforementioned Hungarian soup, and the persnickety BF fully enjoyed his clam chowder. Our sandwiches (mine turkey, his a Reuben) were both just ok, but hey, that is normally the term used to describe the entire dining experience at most locations of these McPubs. Our server was upbeat and prompt, and even the busboy would check on us whenever he walked past. Overall, the menu was typical McMenamins- tots, burgers, etc.- but today it was just what I wanted. Raleigh Hills Pub definitely seems to be family friendly- the bar area is fairly small compared to the minors-happy dining room- but that is to be expected given the neighborhood, and granted, not a negative for most people. Unlike myself. I think I may have found my new stop-for-lunch-in-the-suburbs-on-the-way-home-from-Target spot. Take that, Red Robin.
