well i hate to be a sour puss but i have recived worst service in my life at this bar. on top of that their food is way over priced. I have had a bad experience here a number of times. One time after sitting at a table for over an hour and having ate our food a waiter brought us water as if we had just sat down. I would see it as an honest mistake except for the fact that we all had drinks and they weren't slammed. In-fact i don't think i can say i have ever had good service there. they always seem to be way understaffed. i would recommend going to the Bye and bye which is less than 100ft away.

As promised I said I'd let you know about the upper patio... it was pretty awesome to say the least. Great view and it has its own little atmosphere which is hard to describe. Exceptional service once again and its a great place to watch the ducks game. Only two downfalls of the night (not fault of the Radio Room) was the Ducks almost blowing it and my fiancee burning the roof of her mouth on her mac 'n cheese which in turn ruined my night after that if you know what I mean. And one more note... BEST HAPPY HOUR MENU EVER! Radio radio cakes people!

I hate, hate, hate having to do this. Hate it. I rarely am as irritated as I was when I went to Radio Room during Last Thursday on Alberta this past week. First, it wasn't even that busy (busy, but no wait and not every table taken) - and we had some of the worst service ever encountered. Terrible. Two of us went in first, followed by the other two... and we were there first for about 10-15 minutes... and no wait service. So, when the other two had joined, I had to go up to the hostess and ask her to send someone over. She apologized profusely, but it still took a few minutes to get someone over there to take our order. Then we wait, and wait, and wait just to get the drinks (um, beer and wine - how hard is that?). Then we wait, and wait, and wait to get the food. When the food comes, we order round two of drinks... we eat, and eat, and eat and the drinks never come. While eating, we were never visited once by our waiter. Not once. After we were done with our food, my friend went over to let our waiter know that we would not need our drinks any longer and just wanted our check. She gets back to the table, and this other waitress comes over with our round of drinks. Seriously, are you joking? And the place is pretty open and not that big... serious communication problem. Serious. Of course, when we went over to tell the waiter that we didn't want the drinks anymore, he looked at my friend with a confusing face. Yeah, he probably forgot. THE ABSOLUTE KICKER was when the waiter came over to "apologize" he basically blamed EVERYONE ELSE for all the problems... oh, the kitchen is backed up, and oh, the bartenders don't even know enough to look ahead at the tickets to make the easy drinks first... oh this, and oh that... ALL not his fault. Just amazing. Amazing! I have never in my life had a server blame the entire rest of the place for all the problems. Funny thing is that we hardly even did enough complaining to provoke the defensive maneuver. All we said was we were done eating and didn't want the drinks anymore. On the semi-flip side, the crab cakes were pretty good, and the side salad was decent. The wine list is pretty average, and the beers on tap are pretty scarce. I'll agree about the vibe and decor as far as what Lindsey R. said... In a nutshell... if you never put a foot in the door at the Radio Room - you won't have missed a thing.

We had dinner on the rooftop on a Saturday night. The small candles did little to allow us to see our food, it was so dark. While the service was friendly, the food was sub-par. The polenta was incredibly dry and flavorless and the crab cakes tasted dry and freezer burned. The side of asparagus was the bright spot in an otherwise disappointing meal. The ambiance was lacking as well. The interiors are slick but lacking in charm or energy. I felt like I was in a chain restaurant's attempt to recreate a "Portland" bar.

Digit for breaky. Loved the trout benedict with it's lightly fried trout, perfect eggs (not too runny not too thick) and toned down hollandaise - benny victory for sure. Also the playwrite is super dope. Beautiful veggies with some nice eggs on top super fantastic. Good coffee. Some good local brews for non-breakfast meals (unless u roll like that - beastmaster) Had the grilled cheese with a white bean chili for lunchables the other day. Chili was a special and it was indeed special. Grilled cheese was def serviceable with some nice maters in thar. Good vibes. Fire pit. And I guess they do some trivia and other social stuffs in the evenings. Do it.

I have to agree with Susan W. about the food, and Andy W. about what it might mean for Alberta Street. I ordered the burger too and thought it was among the worst I have ever eaten in PDX (my favorites in town are Cafe Castagna and Pause). I ordered it medium, and it came to the table not only rare but ice cold. The fries were fine but hardly anything to write home about. The whole experience was very, very average (maybe even a touch below). I don't see this place surviving on Alberta. If it had solid food, I could perhaps looks past some of its other problems, including the fact that it feels like P.F. Changs or California Pizza Kitchen. Bottom line: the place just lacks a soul (and clearly also taste buds). I live just two blocks away and so wanted to like this place but I am afraid I won't be going back until I hear things have changed...

I went to the Radio Room with my best friend Tracy for lunch today. We were looking for a place where we can enjoy the sunshine. The outdoor patio was nice and the service was fantastic! And the food was fantastic! (We had the burger and the grilled cheese sandwich.)

  • O D.

I had their burger and it was really good; but the one thing I remember having that we actually ordered 3 times in one night because it was so good are the cheese fries. If it's fried with cheese on it and I can dip it in ketchup color me there. Radio room is great for a little get together. Great for drinks, and the ambiance is fun. You can get cozy by the fire, or sit on their "roof top" lounge. If you MUST have one thing on their menu it should be their Cheeseburger or their Cheese Fries

Great place, unlucky location. The record prices are decent, and the fact that they serve beer is as unexpected as it is awesome. I went there with a friend who was playing a show and met one of the owners, who was super nice. If the radio room was on a more busy street, I think they'd have full tables every night. Go check them out and show em some love.

Went there tonight to hold a meetup group for web designers and was able to take advantage of the happy hour. Their price were ok - I orded a veggie burger which tasted like a potato burger but noticed my collegues enjoying their burgers and chomped them down happily. Overall, the atmosphere was good for a group and I'm intriguted by the fire pit outside as a place to hang out, but since it was one of the those very wet, very cold nights...not gonna happen.

great atmosphere, nice patio, good food, good drinks. the service staff can disappear for big gaps of time when it gets busy.

I was at the opening for Radio Room last night with two friends. Being the Radio Room's opening night, we were prepared for the usual gaffes in service and food quality, but were pleasantly surprised. Upon arrival we were seated inside by a very comfortable and well laid out bar booth area, that has sliding doors that open to the outside. At the time, the doors were closed as it was rather warm outdoors. Drinks came in a timely manner, and the wait staff was friendly and accomodating, if not exactly sure about all the menu and wine offerings. When the food and drinks arrived, they arrived in the proper order and all were still at the right temperature (albeit it was a little slow in coming, but the house was getting full by that time), we were all very impressed with the quality of food and prices (most wines by the glass do not exceed $7.00, and many hover around $5.00, most entrees are around $8-12). We ordered some onion rings and calamari to share, the breading being a light rice flour batter that was just right. We also ordered the Meatlof and mashed potatoes, Farmers Salad, and the Burger Royale. All were flavorful, but not oversalted, and the portions were ample without being rediculous. One of the best things that we sampled was the Potatoes Au Gratin--simply lovely and cheesy, moist and crisp on the outside. I would return simply for another order of those! This place will be great during all months of the year here in Portland, being in my neighborhood where we are always skeptical of yet another new restaurant, Radio Room is a welcome addition.

Because its a bar I would go 3.5 stars. The food however is among the best bar food around. I had Bacon wrapped Prawns, Polenta cakes and Mac and cheese with a well drink all for 24.00! The prawns were large and tasty if a tad rubbery, the polenta was tasty and the Mac was average. The pasta was fresh and cooked perfectly but the Parmesan was applied a little heavy handed. I like this place for late night eats!

Sit on the roof, great cocktails (go for the Tom Waits) and PBR pounders. Smoking is allowed on the roof so be ready for that.

I went to Radio Room for the first time a couple weeks ago on two separate occasions. First time I had a pretty greasy hamburger and the second an underwhelming mac n cheese (reminded me of what happens when you follow the box directions and get a soupy mess) but it wasn't gross and tasted decent. I like the random layout and was pretty impressed that the service was prompt and laid back considering. The drinks are pretty spendy but the Tom Waits I had was good, not $9 good but a great Old Fashioned none the less. I'd like to sit in the upstairs patio next time I go and maybe partake in the Bingo they have on Tuesday nights. (it's held in the other area I didn't have a chance to sit in.) So I'd say it's a definite 3 stars, I'd give it 4 if the food was good, but the service really is great for how difficult it has to be to keep track of all the new people in the random seating areas. The old school cigarette machine filled with similar sized boxes of art is pretty neat. I might check out what is in those mysterious little boxes one time.

The only reason I'm reluctant to give this place 5 stars is that I don't want everyone else to discover it. I have been there at least 5 or 6 times in the last several months, and it has been consistently awesome. The food and drinks are both solidly good, and innovative enough to keep it interesting. The polenta in marscapone sauce in particular, is awesome. The service is also top-notch. Once in a while they can get slammed and end up a little slow, but all the servers that we have had have been great. They are uniformly hip, friendly, and ON IT. And they never seem to care when you leave your table and go hang out outside at the firepit for an hour or so. In summary, they pretty much do everything right, according to me.

I love living near this restaurant/bar. Their happy hour has a great selection of food, and their regular menu is fantastic. I love their soups, polenta, BLTs, steaks, pasta dishes, and especially fried calamari. I always get great service, and love it when the waitstaff recognizes me and what I like to order. The best thing about this place is the events they host, like bingo/trivia nights, Blazer games on the big screen, Monday movie nights, etc. They have so many seating options too, in the dining area, bar, or outside at the firepit or heated/covered patio. The decor matches my personality too, vintage but clean, framed records and art on the walls.

  • R W.

I still like this place, but the food always seems to not go the distance. It's okay. For instance, the watery chicken and dumplings. Also, the service is great 75% of the time. 25% of the time it's non-existent to annoying.

i love the radio room and am a regular. margarita grilled cheese is my usual - delish. the polenta cakes and mac and cheese (add caramelized onions and mushrooms - perfect!) are close seconds (thirds?). i dont eat meat, but anyone ive dined with thats had the hanger steak, ahi tacos or chicken pesto sammy has been more than satisified. drinks are perfect, servers are friendly and trivia nights are super fun - top shelf tuesdays, holla! all that being said, im not a fan of the brunch. its just, eh. especially compared to their really excellent dinner menu. such potential - BUT, as with any breaky spot, the proof is in the potatoes, and theyre just not cutting it. i might be more satisfied if i was a bloody mary fan - the bloody mary bar *does* look awesome. my advice, skip brunch and hit up the dinner menu!

this is an updated review.. as previously mentioned the service was horrible. now i must say that the radio room has pulled it together nicely. i finally made it to the brunch..BEST BRUNCH on Alberta, seriously. and the bloody mary bar is great... what's even better is the server i got. i think his name was Dustin, but his attentiveness, attitude, timely waiter skills where so above and beyond the portland standard. i couldn't believe the drastic difference. there was also a great bartender with big goofy glass and a baseball cap that had a delightfully quirky presence .. i'm redeeming the radio room and officially make it my top 3 places to eat and drink in portland... thanks staff and managers

After FIVE drinks you should be fucked up right? Are they stingy with the hard alcohol...are they just so stuck on beer they cant provide a decent cocktail...what is it? Please tell me... Ill explain... It was our anniversary. The kid was put away. We wanted to have some drinks & waste the night away. We live across the street so we thought hey where else would be better than the infamous radio room? All we have to do is stumble across the street back home. After all the place always seemed busy so we thought it must be great. The atmosphere is. Its dark & theres a fire outside & blah blah blah. Let me get to the point. We each had FIVE cocktails. And after each one we kept asking "Why? Why arent we even buzzed...?" We are both lightweights. I specifically asked the waitress to make sure they are strong. Multiple times I asked for a really truly STRONG drink. And they just weren't. Im sad, disappointed, & fucking confused. Who has a bar but doesn't even know how to get someone drunk? $100 in drinks & not even a decent hangover. Again, as a neighbor I am sad. Very very sad. Please owner of the radio room...hire bartenders that know how to pour a strong drink for those of us who aren't beer people.

Bit spendy, but the drinks is worth it. Some of the best bartenders...ever. Friendly staff and good food. Best to go late at night when its not so crowded.

I only gave this place one star because I have to in order to post. A couple of friends came into town and we went here for a later dinner, seating ourselves as directed. And we sat. And sat. I watched one server bus a table. I watched another server bring two girls he clearly knew drinks and sit with them. We made eye contact as he got up.. and then he just walked away. I watched the same server bus another TWO tables. And then I watched her talk to one of her tables, whom she seemed to know as well. Guess you have to know someone to get some service around there. Oh wait... I did see the table that came in after us get menus and drinks. Guess it was just us. I also want to throw out that two out of the three of us are were/are in the restaurant industry and are all always 20% tippers at least and are quite patient when it comes to busy places. We're not patient for bullshit. NEVER GOING BACK.

This cute little place has many great aspects that make me a fan and keep me coming back. Apparently the spot used to be an old texaco station which they remodeled into a cute little dinner/lounge spot. It is cozy, easy to find, and has a nice atmosphere. It is not a dive bar, nor does it qualify as an upscale lounge either. It is a great spot for groups, a date, or even just to grab a bite to eat by yourself. The menu is broad and everything I have had so far is great. The service is pretty good, but has been a little slow. However I usually come here on last thursday or for special events so they may just be extra busy. There is a cool little fire pit outside which is always nice. They do have a great happy hour with food and drink specials that has a good selection and variety.

Swanky and a little out of place in Northeast, although I guess the landscape has and still is changing in the Alberta area. It's very large, in a building that looks like an office building. The weirdest part was that it seemed to pop up out of nowhere.

Great food (their mushroom soup is out of this world - make it vegan by asking for no creme fraiche on top). The staff is always super friendly and attentive, and Tuesday night trivia is a blast - and challenging! Moderate prices make it possible to visit frequently.

I generally like this place. Good firepit and patio, good selection of taps and reasonable food. Just don't expect good service, especially if you are sitting up on the patio. Last time I visited, it took more than an hour to order and get breakfast. Our waitress only came by when our drinks were up and when the food came. She took orders of at least two other tables seated after us, before we even got our coffee... Food was fine when it came, but the overall experience was mired by bad service.

We went for happy hour, and were very, very glad we did. Fabulous polenta cakes, delicious beet salad, and tasty Ahi tacos. The burger and the grilled cheese were okay--nothing to write home about, alas. But the bread pudding was the best I've had anywhere--thick and spongy, with the most amazing dark chocolate "crust". We also loved how this restaurant makes use of the outdoors: there are at least two outdoor seating areas, and on nice days, the doors to the indoor dining area are thrown open to let the fresh air in.

Never in my life have I left a restaurant being so dissatisfied. My man and I had been out all day running errands we were starved and decided to stop somewhere new for a quick happy hour bite. It was around 4:15 on a Tuesday and not at all busy inside which was a good thing because we had somewhere to be before 7. We should have just left when we first sat down and saw an ant crawling around on our menus. We were quickly served water and asked for our drink order (by a man who looked like he had just rolled out of bed) and when we said we needed a few minutes to look over the menu he said "do your thing" walked away and and disappeared for 15 minutes. When he came back we were ready for our food order as well as our drinks but he only took our drink order, he came back with our drinks and left quickly with out taking our food order and after waiting for another 10 minutes he finally came to take our food order a salad, fries, their grilled cheese, and a burger, I was impressed because he asked how we wanted the burger cooked (I love that)! We had been there for about 45 min and even hungrier than when we had arrived. In the HOUR that we waited for our food to arrive I watched two tables have their order taken and receive their food, and watched plates pile up in the window probably cold by the time they reached their customers. At 6 our food FINALLY came and we wolfed it down, despite our burger ordered medium rare was well done and also had an ant crawling around on the plate. Our food was gone in 10 minutes and it finally at 6:30 we managed to get our check and get the hell out of there, the restaurant still was less than half full when we left. I had such high hopes for this place, but was thoroughly let down. I will not be going back there.

I've been feverishly searching for a place for my birthday dinner next month and Radio Room was recommended to me. Online, it seemed like it was everything I wanted; local, small, good atmosphere, nice looking menu. Sweet, should be perfect right? Because I tend to over plan, I wanted to check it out before I had a party of ten eat here. Seemed like a great excuse to get out for Sunday brunch. I liked what I saw from the outside, it was cool looking and kind of reminded me of an old burger joint that used to be on Fremont. The inside was a little overly hip, but the art and lamps were funky so I wasn't too bothered. The waiter was super attentive and the menu looked awesome. (The Mimosa was strong, earning a star on its own) Too bad the good times ended there. I ordered the eggs Benedict because in my opinion it's not an easy dish, so if they can cook that well the kitchen should be great. My friend ordered the Brioche French Toast, hoping for some fantastic berry concoction. We were both sorely disappointed. My eggs didn't seem cooked and the bread was overly soggy (like it had been sitting around a while) and the potatoes, while good, were luke warm at best. My friends French toast didn't seem to have fresh anything in it and although the presentation was nice it was a grand total of two pieces of bread. No side of anything and honestly the dish needed it to be filling at all. The only positive I could find were the drink and the waiter, who was very nice the whole morning. Sadly we came to the conclusion that the people eating at Radio Room either don't go to enough restaurants to know decent food in front of them, or the alcohol effects their brain that they don't care what they are eating.

the radio room kicks serious booty. i recently moved from the alberta area to multnomah village in sw but continue to make it out to the radio room at least a couple of times per month, typically once with the whole fam (the kiddo loves it!) and alone with the husband for late night happy hour. the food here is fabulous and i am seriously picky. my favorites are the meatloaf and the hummus plate (i'm a HUGE hummus snob and theirs is quite amazing!) and my husband loves the ahi tacos, calamari and burgers. we have a five year old who adores their chicken wings and shares my passion for the hummus. their prices are great, particularly the happy hour menu. my old neighbor friend goes there often too and recently told me their happy hour menu changed. i was nervous but when i went in this weekend i was pleasantly surprised to find even lower prices and lots of amazing goodies. you seriously cannot get happy hour food this good anywhere else in portland for the same price or less. the service at the radio room is amazing. everyone there is always so warm and friendly. the environment is cozy and inviting and it's decorated beautifully. it's not loud or annoying like a lot of other places in the area which is part of my huge attraction to the place. it's a lot larger than one would think being in an old gas station and I love it.

My ladies and I had a lovely afternoon on the deck upstairs here. We were probably the OLDEST people there; yeah, the demographic is a bit young. But the happy hour food was delish, as were the drinks (once the server managed to get drinks to us, which, on an 87º day was not fast enough). They also screwed up my bill (in their favor), but I forgive them that for the tasty, fat buffalo wings, the fresh yummy ahi tacos and the nice outdoor space. Not bad.

Hey radio room, I think you make no sense. I never wanted to step foot in this place until my friend got his art showcased. After visiting a few times to support my friend I have decided that whoever picks the music during the day needs to lay off the Tina Turner. Multiple days visited, same damn Tina Turner on each visit. I mean she is good, but not that good. The food here is overpriced and pretentious, but better than the grub that most places have to offer. The club sandwich gets a thumbs up while the Hummus and Pita gets the thumbs down. I don't drink much alcohol, but the novelty of the 50 cent champagne flutes of High Life gets old after about one of them, especially since you can only get one at a time. Lame. The firepit must be noted, because it is there and will most likely be crowded with smoking hipsters. My friends art is killer and is hanging on the walls for a little while longer. He is painting a mural up top, there is also two (maybe three?) other mural type arts that can be viewed from the top seating deck, which makes having a beer up top on a sunny day probably the only way I will be returning to the radio room.

Radio Room has a lot to offer: you can hear and carry on a conversation, fire pit, clean bathrooms, tables, friendly staff (although once in a while it can be a little tough to get a bartender's attention). The firepit on a chilly night is perfect. Good place to take a date, especially up to the roof or fire pit....talk about a good setting to get to know someone. People can smoke on the upstairs deck sadly, so there have been really beautiful days I've gone and sat up there and then a group of people come in who want to acquire cancer and chain smoke nearby, which ruins (I've had this experience about half the time). Their food can be a little inconsistent at times (I've mostly had really good food here, but twice, I had to send something back and I rarely, if ever do that).

Cool space, mediocre food and poor service. Our server seemed confused and lost. I know it was a party of 12, but it's not that tough to bring beers and apps. Not at all kid friendly.

ok, so in all fairness, the spot itself is cool. dope outside seating. sweet view, etc. But holy nasty nasty food. My friend and I both got the ahi tacos and salads. When the food came the table next to us commented on how they could smell the vinegar strongly. I think they forgot to add the proper amount of oil to the dressing?? Pretty easy but ya win some ya lose some. So the tacos come with seared ahi, cheese, cream, and pickled cabbage. Thats it. And I got mine w/o cheese, she with. We both took one bite and that was all we could do. The taste was worse than any food I have ever tried. Astoundingly so. SO gross. They were cool about it and didn't make us pay. The neighboring table told us that their oysters were great, so theres some sun rays... We wound up going to another restaurant on Alberta, the Vita, a solid stand-by and talking to the waitress about it who also said she ate there once and her and her table's food was awful as well. So there you have it. I give 2 stars instead of one bc this spot does support organic and local when they can, and that goes a long way. 2 it is.

hmmmm... radio room didn't look so enticing on the outside. all industrial and sticking out like a sore thumb in the Alberta District. but it was happy hour, a lazy monday, and I was curious to see what they had to offer. so in I went with my friend. the happy hour offerings were quite varied and tasty - to my surprise. regardless of the sterile environment (I love industrial design but I dunno, this was a bit cold...and maybe trying too hard for me). we shared a croque monsieur (tasty and crusty and cheesy) and calamari (ample serving and crisply fresh). if it wasn't for the fact that i was not that hungry, I would have tried out a few more items on the happy hour menu: cheeseburger, salad, corn cakes... to name a few). drinks? reasonable and tasty. I had a lemony (i forget the name) drink that was tart and not uber sweet and a pear-y punch drink that was pretty as well as delicious. so why the 3 stars? well... while the food and drink were nice and satisfying, the atmosphere is a bit uh... cold.

This place is in my hood and I really want to LOVE it but I just can't. boo. I've been 6+ times in the last 6 months. The Happy Hour menu is great! I love the beet salad and ahi tacos BUT it is never consistant. One time the food will be delicious and the next time bleh. I always order the Tom Waits drink and it's really good, every time. Service is great one time then crappy the next. The last 3x I've been with 3 different friends we've sat up at the bar. Same bartender, same crap service. I have no problem waiting when it's busy but it's never been busy. He takes forever to take your order and then walks away.. everytime I've sat at the bar I've had to say "we would like to order food please" and only then will he take the order. All 3x at the bar her never came back and asked us if we wanted another drink, more food or even make eye contact. Customer service goes a loooong way and unfortunetely this place can't seem to get it, or the food, right more than 50% of the time. I'll still come because it's close and I'm always hopeful that *this time* will be the time that's its GREAT!

  • Ritu K.

Beaten down by the two plus hour waits close by and eager to eat and get a move on, someone in the group suggested Radio Room. We would have been better off starving. I'm giving this place three stars for the excellent prompt service, but the food was awful. My pancakes were tasteless and my husband's biscuit and gravy tasted super funky. The whole meal was a shame. If they improved their food fare they could really cash in on the brunch epidemic sweeping Portland. It's a cool place with great service, but the food (shudder).

I loved the outdoor fire place. The wings were the best I've had in a LONG time. The drinks were great. Didn't expect the sports bar feel to it. My waitress was awesome but was not impressed with the service offered by the frat-boy bar tender.

Can I give no stars? From the hipster names of the menu items , I should have known this place would have crap. Bit hey, when in Portland everyone is a hipster. Went here with a group of six. Sat upstairs on the patio. Our group was the first to arrive and the last to leave. Prices were a bit on the spendy side, and when the food finally arrived( 2hrs later), it was tasteless and cold. Colder than the other side of the pillow. I have had a better burger from am/pm. Our server, who was possibly mentally challenged, was no where to be found. When we finally received the bill, for the first time in my life I left no tip. I won't ever return, and I hope this place gets some better staff/management.

We've often end at Radio Room for late brunch, when line is too long at Tin Shed. We've also been here for Happy Hour at several occasions. Service has been kind and food OK, but not really worth a recommendation - as many reviews will show. Then last Sunday we came for brunch only to discover that the menu had changed. We were very exited and ordered Salmon and Breakfest sandwich, the usual Mimosa and Bloody Mary and the experience turned out to exceeded the your expectations! Delicious food Beautifully arranged and served. Yes, Radio Room has a new chef. We returned later the same week to see if the good experience were repeated at Happy Hour: And it was!! Once again great food and the usual kind service for a reasonable price, all thanks to the new chef - we were told. And for the rest of the week we happily shared our experience with everyone we knew and recommended Radio Room as well as we could. So without any reservations we returned this Sunday to enjoy our brunch at the patio upstairs. The weather was great and we had time enough - we thought. After 40 minutes we had to ask for our food, and when it finally arrived it was the wrong order. BTW: the saddest Eggs Benedict I've ever seen, with a Hollandaise fallen totally apart, I was surprised this disgusting dish had left the kitchen at all, especially when I heard the new chef was in the kitchen. We asked for the check so we could go some place else, but the headwaiter persuaded us to stay and offered to put our order in front. After another 10 minutes the right dishes came (salmon and salad on grilled flat-bread), however salad was soggy and the flat bread was just greasy pita bread - the magic was gone. What had happened during the week? We think the waiter forgot our order and gave the wrong order when we had to ask - she was very busy (understaffing is a del-known problem at Radio Room). She gave us a 15% discount when we asked for the check. The headwaiter then came up to apologize and gave us a new check: beverages only - that's professional! But we still wonder what happened with the promising changes, it seems we're back to "normal" kitchen standard, so can no longer recommend Radio Room for excellent food. But I really want then to succeed.

I love the Radio Room! Great drinks, a big selection of food, free Internet (at a restaurant/bar?!), fire pit, cool bartenders, live music, dim lights, an upper deck and a patio that allows dogs. Everything I've eaten and drank at the Radio Room has been wonderful, including the upper deck lemonade, the seared ahi dish and the chocolate cake. Awesome spot. Looking forward to going back...

Krystal, Collin, and I met up at the Radio Room last night after a long and exhausting day of work (for me, not them). All I wanted was a good Bloody Mary and a snack and somehow we wound up here. We had been to the Radio Room before but it's not in any of our neighborhoods and it's kind of difficult to get to via bus but we met there anyway and I'm happy that we did. The Bloody was fantastic and decently priced. The mac and cheese with added pesto was delicious (please don't tell my acupuncturist that I've been eating dairy). The waiter was....aware of how bad he was. Everytime we asked for something it took a good 5-10 minutes to get it. But the fact that he came back with a smile everytime and an apology made it ok. He was funny and amusing and that trumps shitty service every night in my opinion.

Had a really great vibe - lounging around the fire pit with a mixed crowd. Good beers and good service. Didn't have any food, but it looked like it would be really great. Will reevaluate when I go for some food.

I was visiting family in Portland and as my Uncle was giving me a tour of his area of Portland we saw the Radio Room. He was telling me how it had JUST opened about two weeks prior to me arrving in PDX. We decided to come back for dinner after picking up my Aunt from work. We were greeted and asked if we wanted to sit inside or out. We opted for outside and seated at a nice table near the cool looking outdoor fire pit. The decor of this place was simplistic but interesting to look at, being so new everything was sparkling clean too. We ordered drinks and decided on the Radio Cakes. We were so impressed with our first order of Radio Cakes that my Uncle ended up ordering two more :) I ordered the ceasar salad and it was soooo tasty! I was really impressed with the service and the food. It has been a long time since I last ate here. I do know that the Radio Cake changed - they used to be flash fried (now they are grilled) and they were served with a warm peppercorn sauce. I'll be in PDX again very soon (Thanksgiving 09) and am looking forward to coming here and trying the Radio Cakes again as well as other items :) Overall I really liked the feel of the restaurant and the staff. I will post a review update soon :)

I absolutely LOVE LOVE LOVE the food here. My second visit to this unique place and the food was spot on, well my food anyhow. The Pop Eye scramble was excellent, the home fries, sweet bliss and the toast? Out of this world. I know, it's toast, but it was soooooo yum! My friends and I also enjoyed some bloody mary's (the bartender made) and they were delish! One thing to deduct a half-star, my friend ordered the French Toast, and it wasn't completely cooked in certain places, but my friend reported, it was (the cooked parts) still yum. I'd recommend this place to anyone. Wide selection of food items, decent prices, and great, friendly service!

Unique place in a unique stretch of Portland. And they had a great Pacific Northwest microbrew! (I probably can't give the name, but it starts with an "N" and ends with an "I." True IPA lovers will know what I mean. Awesome IPA.)

Been here a few times and am generally pleased with my time. However, went in on Wednesday November 7th around 10:30 pm. Bellied up to the bar, told the tender we were hungry and thirsty. He was the slowest, laziest waiter I've encountered. Took him 10 minutes to ask for drink orders, long time for him to pour our beers (wanted to walk back there and pour 'em myself...), had to ask him for a food menu even though our intentions to eat were vocalized as we sat down, and when he finally got us a menu he threw it down at the bar in a rude manner. He was chatting up other patrons and seemed to be friendly with them; no clue what set him off with us. He didn't ask for our food order for 20 minutes. Place was not packed. I put my card on the bar and waited another 5 minutes before he acknowledged us and then said "what? You're done? No food?" Yes sir, we didn't want to stay and be treated like crap for one more second. I used to work in the service industry and I always tip 20%+, this was the first time I was tempted to leave no tip. I left 10% and think that was too generous for the level of service we received. I hope he had an off night and that he isn't like this to others, it was an awful experience to be ignored then treated rudely, especially when I approach everyone with a smile and friendly words.

Radio Room is a wonderful cozy place, that has the feel of your living room...only...with a server. Sweet! The weekend brunch is the perfect cure for the hangover from hell. Brunch is from 9am-3pm, to ensure the early birds and late ones are covered. There is a bloody mary bar with everything you could possibly wish for. Try the Playwright's Hangover, which is a open-faced sammie with veggies, over medium eggs and bechamel sauce. Or my personal favorite, the French Kick, which is a ham sandwich with gruyere, over medium eggs and bechamel sauce. Breakfast costs about 5-10 bucks depending on what you get, which is an amazing value. Also available are benedicts, french toast, salads, burgers and sammies. So you will find something for sure. Regarding dinner? Well, put two and two together...if Brunch is amazing, just think how great dinner is?! Besides, there is a wonderful open fire out front with seating to surround it, as well as a roof top patio. What more could you want? Awesome beer on tap? Check!

One of my favorite places in Portland but I was very dissapointed with the menu overhaul - specifically the overall design of the menu from an aeshtetic standpoint is atrocious and unreadable. Food, though great, is overpriced. Would be nice if they had a cheap eats late night menu. drinks and service are all still usually great. There have been some occasional misses with service but it's been awhile since I've had one.

We went with a large group of friends for Sunday brunch. Apparently they haven't been serving breakfast for long so there isn't much of a wait. The atmosphere inside is cool, the waitstaff is great but the food is pretty blah. We both had traditional eggs benedict. Unfortunately, it was made with broken hollandaise (pooled under the benedict- weird), and fried eggs rather than poached. Ill-seasoned potatoes rounded out a less than mediocre plate. I also tried their Bloody Mary as I had heard about their Bloody Mary bar where you customize your Mary with pickled veggies, hot sauce, etc.. However, they were out of celery. I asked about it and apparently they run out late in the morning on the weekends frequently. Pretty inexcusable if a Bloody Mary is going to be one of your signature dishes. We probably won't be back for breakfast but since the staff was so nice, we might go back for one of their trivia nights or something.

Big Ouch! This place had a chance to impress given that a friend and I came here for Xmas dinner, but the Radio Room failed miserably. The service was great, but the food was a huge disappointment, especially given the four star prices. They were out of the scallop entree by 6pm, which is the only thing either of us wanted. Instead we opted for the pork chop entree and veggie risotto and neither was good. All entrees came with bland steamed/boiled brussels sprouts (no other option for brussels sprouts haters like me), mushroom and corn thing with pork chop had little flavor except chili/pepper. Risotto was bland with same chili/pepper flavor. Rolls were cold (straight outta the fridge?) and only one pat of butter...very stingy at the prices being charged. And, to add insult to injury, we both had rush-home-intestinal-trouble afterwards (to be as delicate about it as possible--perhaps cross contamination?). Definitely a holiday meal memorable for all the wrong reasons that will pre-empt a return to sample the normal fare. Kept thinking about what an excellent meal the dollars would have gotten us on any other night somewhere else! Very sad indeed.

I used to think this place was too hip for my own good, but after begrudgingly meeting friends here once, I realized it's a decent low key spot on Alberta. Sometimes the table service is pretty slow, the food is decent.

Sunday brunch is AWSOME at Radio Room! Pints of mimosas? Yes, please! Open air patio? Yes, please! Totally cute server named Anne who was charming and appropriately attentive? Yes, please! Sit in the sun, order the Mr. Farmer, drink a 16 oz mimosa, and enjoy your life!

We went to Radio Room for a VERY LATE dinner, and discovered it was also a night of trivia. Trivia Tuesdays, apparently. At first it was really annoying to have to sit through, but once the drinks started working their magic, it was a little more fun. Granted, we did not play, as we didn't have a little sheet to write on and I'm sure we came in way too late in the game... but it was fun to guess and see if we were right. I had a cheeseburger with fries. The burger was very juicy and delicious. The fries were very lame and upsetting. I had a gin and tonic, which was much stronger than I'm used to. I suppose that's good, but I could only drink half of it. My mom got a dirty martini, which she drank the entire thing of, so I'm sure she's much more of a badass than I am. The random pinup-py artwork was... ugh.

Came here with the boy and a friend I hadnt seen in about 8 years. We settled into our booth and ordered a few of the beers on tab. I had a delightful beer called LSD. The name made me giggle, apparently it was one of their seasonal beers. The waitress we had was really very nice and attentive to our needs, but not in that overbearing creepy way that I have encountered before. At one point I asked her about a drink they had on a flier for an event featuring the Flaming Lips. She ran around to the kitchen in search for Jalapenos that the drink required and came back later and apologized for them being out. I really appreciated her making that kind of effort. Also the cup of mushroom soup I had was really yummy, and I liked the bread they added with it. As others have pointed out they have a kick ass patio and also an upper deck smoking area. The waitress's will even come and get your drink orders from both areas, which I always like. The fire-pit was awesome, and people were even allowed to bring in their dogs, which is a nice touch. When I move to PDX next month ill defiantly be back to check it out some more.

Fantastic venue! A couple of friends and I went there not knowing what it was like, but left very pleased! Also, we saw Jarred Bayless; NBA player for the Portland TrailBlazers there too. Pros: 1. There's a really good college bar/lounge vibe. 2. Fire pit located outside. 3. Can go on the roof and eat/drink there. 4. Strong drinks 5. Good happy hour menu! Cheap and plenty of food! Cons: 1. Gets really busy, so service isn't too good. 2. Bar walk-area is small, so when there are a lot of people, you have to push and shove your way through to order drinks. I recommend: - Sit by the fire pit. - Eat and drink upstairs (Open a tab there, not at bar area). - Order the fries (Food).

I love radio room! It's perfect for brunch (not over crowded, and the food is killer) plus they serve the BEST screwdrivers! I love Matt the bartender, he always works hard, serves good drinks and is attentive. The place is cozy an inviting. I'll be back next weekend.

Okay...so, I went back to the Radio Room last night with some friends...I still love the atmosphere and the vibe I totally dig. What I did NOT dig...was our service from the moment we walked in the door, until the moment we left. Not to mention...our server gave us a mean case of the stinkeye most of the night, when she actually made her way over to our table, which was rare. Mind you, this was a Wednesday night, the place was pretty sparse, yet, we only saw our server a couple of times. I was happily planning on ordering a few more drinks but never got the chance. Oh, and when she brought us our fries, she all but tossed them on the table and walked away again without so much as a word...no napkins or anything else of the sort to accompany. Boo. I mean, I still dig this place, but come on!

I really like this place! It gets a really good mix of people. The drinks are reasonably priced, they mix a good cocktail. The booths are comfortable. They have a fire pit out front. The servers are friendly even when it's super busy. I'm a fan and I haven't even tried the bloody mary bar yet!

I'm done with this place. Or at least I'm taking a break. I frequently suggest Radio Room as a weekend brunch meet up spot. I've let poor service slide several times just because i like the patio so much (dogs allowed!). Last weekend I convinced a group of 8 to meet there for brunch and drinks. The servers are friendly but just inattentive and sloppy. Here are some low lights: Had to request water repeatedly, not enough water glasses or silverware on the table. Server took everyone's order, except mine. She just walked away as I was speaking. I had to run after her to tell her what I wanted. When the food came out people claimed their orders. One friend was slow speaking up so the server put the plate back on the tray and whisked it back into the kitchen. Again, had to run after her. The hummus sandwhich was one of the grossest things I've ever tasted: mealy, dry hummus. 2 out of the 8 orders never showed up. After everyone was almost done eating the server came back by (not to check on us, just another table) we finally got to ask what happened to the other 2 orders. We reminded her of what they were and she replied. "oh, I think the burger is sitting in the window". How long had it been sitting there unclaimed? She never got the other order in to the kitchen, somehow she didn't hear it or didn't write it down. Now, there was a discount given to these people, but so what. By the time their food came they were starved and everyone else in the party was antsy and wanting to leave. All in all, the service was just poor. Not typical, cold and aloof Portland service, just not good. The food was mediocre at best (except that horrid hummus!) and the not really worth the prices. The highlights are: nice patio, fire pit, cool art and just a nice space in general Good bloody mary's Never a wait I don't hate the place but I just need a break. maybe I'll try again next summer, for the patio.

I know it's cool to say "cheers" after every sentence when you are a waiter. In fact, one of my favorite bartenders says cheers a lot and I still love him all the same. However, hearing your waiter say "cheers" every 2 seconds can get a little exhausting. This was the case on my first visit to the Radio Room and other than the "cheers" overkill, he happened to be pretty prompt and friendly. A lot of eating options on Alberta are closed on Mondays so we were lucky enough to find shelter from the rain at the Radio Room. It was happy hour and can I just say that mini cakes shaped like stars can take the gloom out of any rainy day? Wait, anything edible shaped like stars is a winner in my book, and this is why I was extra pleased when my Radio Radio cakes showed up. Creamy mascarpone polenta with just right amount of crispiness sitting in a puddle of delicious paprika sauce! Oh wait! There's more! There was also some beer drinking that happened, particularly a lovely IPA for the low, low price of $2.75. My friend had the Ahi tacos and we shared some calamari, both were pretty plain Jane. The fun atmosphere made up for the sub par food and overall it was a happy experience. If the bartender comes up with a phrase other than "cheers" or perhaps mixes up his vocab and throws in an "enjoy" or "thanks" then all will be good withThe Radio Room.

Let's start with a more useful link than the one listed on this page: radioroompdx.com I must say I was a little guarded about my trip to the radio with so many mixed "Yelp's" but I had a great evening. Went early for happy on a Thursday and it was nice and quiet. We sat on the empty roof deck and they even turned on the heaters for us to beat the chill. By the end of the night the place was packed and we had scored a perfect seat. Very yummy hummus plate and ahi tacos.. Next time I am going to go for the margarita grilled cheese. Do yourself a favor and get the bread pudding. TRUST ME. Great drinks as well. And service. And atmosphere. And juke box. Will be back soon for sure.

Went there the other evening and it was pretty packed inside. The fire pit was going on outside and was quite tempting, although it was a bit too chilly for our blood. Ended up having a beer or two. The place has some old radios inside and the bartender was nice.

Even though I do not fit into the demographic of the regular Radio Room customer I absolutely LOVE it there! The upstairs patio is great for hanging out with friends. They turn on the heaters after dark and it is great. The art on the wall is done by local artists and is always changing. The waitstaff have always been friendly and have joined into our conversations on occasion which was cool. They are pretty pricey but the drinks are tastey and use top shelf booze so it is worth it. I love the appitizer menu, especially during happy hour. (The prices suck, but once again, are delicious so worth it.) Water is brought to your table in a wine carafe, but you have to ask for it when they are busy. It gets pretty crowded at night (especially when that Thursday thing is going on, that I am not cool enough to understand) and can get really loud so be prepared to yell across the table. Parking sucks, because aparently everyone that frequents the place all have bikes or walks.

I wish I could rate the food, vibe, decor and service separately b/c all but one were about 4-5 stars. The one being the service. It was lackluster. It would benefit Radio Room to have some consistency in there servers. Some were very helpful while some where very not. It takes a while to build a good reputation and only one or two bad ones to ruin that reputation. Finally, why should I go and spend 15 bucks for brunch when I can go across the street to the ever expanding food carts of Portland and pay half for similar food? Sadly, food service is definitely not one of Portland's niches. PS, I sat at the coffee bar. Maybe that was it:( I should've sat at the bar:)

Went here for breakfast and my friend and I both ordered the vegetarian biscuits and gravy. Wow. This was so flavorful, satisfying, and filling! I didn't miss the meat at all and most importantly, the biscuits were flaky and tasty. I had to pretty much roll myself out of there.

Really terrible service. I would give it one star, but my chai tea was exceptionally delicious. Pretty much the sloppiest, laziest service I've ever received. My friend and I came here near 2-3pm on a Sunday afternoon. It was not at all busy. We were not greeted when we entered and we wandered a bit around before we seated ourselves in a booth. It took about 5-10 minutes for any of the servers to say anything to us, and we ordered our drinks. We were then left alone while I heard one of the servers complaining in the background about something. Our tea was brought shortly after we ordered, then we had to wait quite a while before any wait staff came to offer us the check or check in on us at all. My friend even approached the bar while the man who first served us was cleaning, and was ignored. My friend then tried 3 times to get any wait staff's attention to ask for the check and the servers walked right by us. Admittedly my friend was quiet but he waved his hand and if anyone had even looked at us they'd have known to give us the check. I finally had to call him over, we waited longer for our check to come, and when the man brought it to us, he immediately walked away and we had to wait EVEN LONGER until a female server came and took the card for us. Needless to say, no tip was given. We were mostly ignored and the staff seemed like a bunch of over-entitled hipsters who couldn't get a "real" job.

I had never been here, but a friend who lives close by said we should go since she frequents the place. I was a bit skeptical because the menu seemed a little typical "Portland foodie trying too hard to be fancy." However, it was sooooooo good. I had some of the poutine with the vegetarian gravy. The gravy was so good that I worry they may have accidentally given us the real stuff. Anyway, I also got their Royale burger with bacon (I am not a vegetarian, if you thought so after my comment about the gravy---the girl I was sharing the poutine with was). The meat was Koby beef and the bacon was thick cut and just the right crispiness. The aioli that came on the hamburger was good, too, and the ingredients all worked very well together. Honestly, I would say it's probably the most atypical, but best, hamburger I have ever had. I will definitely come back the next time I am in Portland. Their water glasses need to be bigger, though. I had to refill them after what seemed like every sip, but that's a small thing.

Love this place. Great food. Great drinks. Great staff. I recommend the Green Chile Poutine and a Tom Waits to drink with it. Daytime and nighttime are two different vibes, but both are great ones- especially once the sun starts setting and they light the fire pits.

How is it that I have not written a review for this restaurant yet? I have been here multiple times (most recently last night) and enjoyed it every time. Decent breakfast, excellent service. Good happy hour, and very tasty beverages. They also have TVs here, so you can even watch sports (phew!). The only reason they get 4 stars is because they aren't spectacular, but they make a decent burger and have good service. It's a nice place to bring your parents (it has more of a laid back restaurant vibe during the day) and a good place to bring a kid (before 9 p.m., of course). They also have high chairs available for children. I got their special grilled cheese, and it was really tasty (off of the hh menu). Decent edamame (I know I spelled that wrong), and a delicious upper deck lemonade.

I Love the outdoor rooftop area. It's the perfect place to be on a balmy summer evening. The drink selections are good. I liked the sweet green thing which combines green tea and rum- a very crisp and refreshing drink for summer. The Oh allyson is also good- a touch fruity and fizzy without being overly sweet. The food is mediocre. The buffalo burger was dry and lacked seasoning. The calamari was crispy, but the choice of using a rice flour batter left a oily aftertaste. The radio radio cakes are nice and creamy. But the margherita grilled cheese was stellar, the choice of crispy sliced baguette gave the sandwich a nice crunch, there was a generous amount of cheese with very fresh tomatoes and basil. Service is slow, but friendly. It's a good place to kick back and hang out if you are not in a hurry.

I came into the radio room Sunday for brunch. I sat in the lounge and I believe Michelle was our server. As soon as we sat down, not 30 seconds went by and we received water and were told about the bloody bar that was going on. Love bloody Mary's and plus I can make my own...sold. I literally didn't even finish ordering and the bartender was at our table with our drinks. Michelle basically sold us on the JD slinger and I'm happy she did. Took maybe 10 minutes for our food. A different server ran it out. I'm a server and so I tend to watch how places run. Not one thing was in the window for more than a second and people were constantly hustling and it seems like they have a great team. I can't wait to come back with my friends!

Gluten free options: Yep! Clearly communicated on the menu. They also have a bottle or two of GF beers on their shelves. Vegan options: Indeed! There are several, and they're all clearly labeled in the menu. Tip: Order the calamari during happy hour. You won't be sorry! Protip: make sure you order the calamari by itself and/or request it served as soon as it comes off the line, or you will get lukewarm calamari, in which case you will be sorry. While not 24 hours (no surprise, as this IS Portland, and the sidewalks do roll up at six), this place is certainly open longer than it is closed. I've gotten here at the hairy buttcrack of dawn or somewhere past the witching hour and gotten the same cheerful service, wifi access, and tasty food. The burgers are good, the vegan stuff is good, the GF stuff is good... it's all good! Put a bird on this and call it a piece of PDX, because you really can't go wrong at the Radio Room.

I gotta say, Radio Room has really stepped it up. I decided to give them a cautious try after a bad experience a couple of years ago, and was happily surprised. The vegan/GF scramble was insanely good, service was prompt, and it was a great place without a ridiculous wait on a weekday for lunch. I'm SO going back :)

Sadly the macaroni and cheese wasn't creamy, or cheesy. The menu made it sound ooey-gooey, and it just wasn't. Yes, mac and cheese is my crack, and yes I will be particularly judgemental if yours doesn't measure up to what the menu suggests. I have been here a few times, and my review would actually be higher had I not tried the mac. However, on the server's recommendation, we also had the salmon - which actually WAS good and tasty. The chocolate cake was unbelievably moist (the menu does NOT lie on this one at all). The outdoor patio, AND upstairs patio is also GREAT for late-night people watching, drankin', and socializing. I would love to think the crappy mac was just a fluke.

I don't know if Portland invented the concept of Bike-Drink-Bike or if they simply perfected the art of riding bicycles and consuming alcohol. I guess, to be honest, it truly doesn't matter. Bike-Drink-Bike in Portland in phenomenal! Our inaugural B-D-B stop was at Radio Room. Ample parking for all bicycle patrons and a spacious patio and picnic tables for getting your happy hour on. I wanted to start with something extremely summer-y and opted for the Upper Deck Lemonade-vodka, lemonade, and raspberry puree. It was both refreshing and delicious! In addition, it was time to get my pre-drink meal on, so I got the Margherita Grilled Cheese off the hh menu. The drink + sandwich ran me $11 total. What??!! I'm used to NYC prices so this was an extra special surprise. Everyone else got an assortment of drinks, one of which was super exotic and got rave reviews - the Mills End Toddy with bourbon, ginger tea, honey, lemon, and cinnamon. It was definitely unique, but perhaps a better cold weather drink than an outdoor summer patio drink. This place is without a doubt 4.5 stars and receives the bump up to 5 for the excellent service, fantastic prices, and the technology savvy social networking staff!

Where did this upstairs patio come from? I kinda knew it was up there this whole time, but since I don't do a ton of drunking up on Alberta, I simply had never checked it out... until yesterday, when our drunken bike bar crawl moseyed on up there to enjoy some heated, covered, rained-in patio action, and I must say, I'm pretty impressed. This "rooftop" (there's actually a roof over the patio, so it's not really on top) patio rules. It's got a great view of the church down the street, and looks out over the tops of all of the surrounding buildings, giving you a feel of being up off the street. While it's only one story up, it's still pretty entertaining. You can get service up there, so you don't have to blow those precious alcohol calories walking up and down the stairs over and over to order more drinks. This would definitely be a fun night-time patio, a wet-summer patio, or even a patio for those days where you want to be outside but not in the blistering sun. Dig it.

I am a little biased but I love the Radio Room. It is the gem of the Alberta Arts District and has been my home away from home every time I enter it! From the delicious cocktails to the incredible food; never fails to surprise and delight! I'm so proud of everything about this spot, from the maintenance manager, Justin, to the entire management team, to each and every employee who keeps this place in tip top shape to serve the neighborhood and traveling visitors of Portland. This should be a staple visit to anyone who loves firepits, friends, and food! For foodies: most is ethically sourced. The drinks selection is large and in charge; mostly stoked that there are various local offerings. Lastly, Seinfeld trivia is a must catch for every first and third Tuesday night!

Wow where do I begin...we have to wait to be seated which is not a bad thing...however we walked through the place and saw several open tables and couldn't really tell who was a server or hostess. After we put our name on the waitlist I couldn't understand why there was such a wait when there were more than enough tables for those of us waiting then I saw the hostess serving food. The place wasn't really packed so this should have been a sign of things to come. While waiting you can grab a cup of joe it was empty and then people began to file in. The 15 min wait for a table was ok but the hour plus it took to get our food was not...we even moved to a better table out of the blaring sunlit window with no shade. And not so much was it the wait but rather the wait staff that was clearly overwhelmed even though our waitperson said this was their busiest day of the year. One would think someone would have planned for that. Then our food dear god I have had better food at a homeless shelter. Our plates had clearly sat under the expo lights so long that the syrup had skinned over and the bacon was hard as a rock. When my eggs finally arrived they had been comped which was good because they were not palatable...we hadd to repeatedly beg for coffee and tea and didn't bother for more water. One would think that in a town with so many foodies you could find a hip place not filled with apathetic hipsters (both on staff and clientele) where you can get cheap eats...and actually have people who care what they are serving you. .. oh wait there is and its called Christies on N. Lombard.

A solid neighborhood spot. I've enjoyed all of the food that I've had there, with special high marks going to the biscuits and gravy (breakfast served all day!). The drinks are really good - I'm a huge fan of the Ramiro Margarita (tequila and creme de violette). The service is usually good... except when it's not. Some days just seem like off-days. The patio is a prime location for sitting around and drinking with friends. All in all, I don't know that I'd be here as often if I didn't live in the neighborhood, but I do, so I do, and that's not a bad thing.

Ambiance wasn't bad, but I did not really care for the veggie-gravy biscuit thing I ordered for breakfast. The gravy was kinda weird, but I guess I don't have other veggie-gravies to compare it to. And the biscuit seemed a little too hard. I dunno, wasn't a big fan. I'd be willing to give something else a try in there. Maybe. We'll see.

I am updating this to a 2 star review, simply for the fact that the GM promptly sent a response to my review, apologized and asked for further feedback. I'm sure i will eventually be back here (probably just for drinks on a weekend evening) hopefully it is different from the last couple of times. --------- This place probably has the rudest staff of any place in Portland. I didn't realize it was such an inconvenience for a bar tender to make a vodka soda. After waiting about 10 minutes at a mostly empty bar for my drink the girl next to me gets a horrid looking grilled cheese sandwich (which she did not order) tells the waiter that there was a mistake, she ordered the mac and cheese. He stares her down and tell her she ordered a grilled cheese sandwich and starts to walk away, eventually yelling over his shoulder and across the bar "WHAT DO YOU WANT ME TO DO ABOUT IT?!" Uhm how about you fix the situation and not be a prick? This place has cool seating areas but every time I go here I see the same rude staff and can't stay for more than a drink before I would rather just not spend my money there. Way too many other cool bars on Alberta street to put up with this place.

We had breakfast here. We got there as the doors were opening at 8 a.m. and the very friendly waitress let us pick our seats. All the way through, the service was wonderful. The food was really good, though nothing said 'best breakfast ever' so I can't really give 5 stars. But a good, solid breakfast option, for sure.

OK food, cool atmosphere. If you get outdoor seating, there's a fire pit as well an outdoors upstairs section. When the weather is nicer, there's two garage doors that slide up to make the indoor seating in the area a quasi-outdoor area. What I like about this place is that it's got everything, with plenty of room for large groups. Free WiFi, tons of outlets, a bar, an espresso bar, and a full menu. It's the location and atmosphere that make this place fun, unique, and worthwhile depending on the occasion. Definitely a good spot to come hang out. The food itself isn't bad, but it's certainly nothing to go out of the way for. Then again that's not really the main draw of this place, so set your expectations accordingly and you won't be disappointed.

Awesome upstairs patio with a great breeze on warm evenings. The staff is very friendly and definitely on top of things. We had the food and drinks flowing for a solid three hours and they never missed a beat. The drinks were delicious and lots of great food choices. The music is a little loud, so this is not a romantic spot. This is a kick back and party atmosphere. We'll be back to check out the Bloody Mary Bar! It sounds awesome. Hint! You can reserve the upstairs patio for larger groups/events. The patio is partially covered... just in case. You know where we live!

New Years day, a lot of places are closed but the girlfriend doesn't want to wait for Tasty & Sons so we are off to the radio room for the first brunch of the year! The place is pretty packed but we manage to snag two seats at the counter. 10 minutes later we get water and a couple minutes after that we get our order taken. Excited for Breakfast burrito and biscuits with gravy. 15 minutes later I am told they are out of the biscuits and gravy I ordered. Okay I will just get the Slinger which is potatoes with gravy on them plus two eggs. PLEASE GOD NO ONIONS I HATE THEM SO MUCH thank you. 20 minutes later, GF order arrives, The waitress apologizes because my order did not get attached to my GF's order so they are making it right now it should be up in 7 minutes. GF ordered avocado, it came with guacamole. I guess that is close enough. Been at the Radio Room for 45 minutes now. Getting pretty hungry now. We get to overhear another waitress comping meals because her table has waited 45 minutes and was just told they were out of biscuits and gravy. (I know the feeling) We help the waitress find a credit card that was tossed into the clean coffee mugs. I, like a Labrador, hope for a food treat to reward our helpful behavior. I am disappointed. 10 minutes go by. Some other waitress asks my GF how her burrito is, and if we enjoyed our food. I say I would love to enjoy my food but it has not yet arrived. She apologizes and offers a beverage. Sadly I do not like coffee or noontime alcohol so she wanders away. 7 minutes more and I have been here for a good hour now and have enjoyed 5 baby glasses of water. What is this? The waitress approaches with a big bowl and toast, HOORAY! my plate of potatoes and gravy and scrambled eggs is coming my way! Except the eggs aren't scrambled they are over easy. Holy shit are you kidding me-raw onions all over the potatoes underneath the over easy eggs. Thank you but no, I do not want to wait for another Slinger to be made. I have been here for an hour and your track record so far leaves little confidence in future food endeavors. IHOP pancakes please make 2013 better for me. Food 0/10 I did not get any :-( Service 1/10 People talked to us, nothing was comped and no actual apologies made

Long lines at other places forced us in here. SO glad we stopped. Friendly staff (we sat with Talia at the back bar), strong drinks, solid food at great prices. We will make this a stop every time we come down to PDX. Make certain to check out the Bloody Mary bar. It's second-to-none!

Holy cow - What a sandwich! I went to Radio Room last night with friends and sat outside on the rooftop (it was a beautiful evening) and shared one of their Havana Sam sandwiches. It had super juicy pulled pork, decadent pork belly, tangy pickles some cheese and sweet/hot mustard on a perfectly grilled rustic white bread. Wow - it was a show stopper. Their outdoor seating is great - upstairs is the smoking section but even though we are non-smokers, there wasn't much smoke. Very enjoyable. And they have a fire pit on the main patio. I totally enjoyed the food and atmosphere and definitely will be back.

I first started coming here about a year ago with a few friends. My first impressions of this place wasn't that great mainly because I hate being in a bar/lounge atmosphere where I can't even enjoy the conversations I have between friends. I went here for the first time today during their early happy hour and I will say that I was very impressed. Bartender was very friendly and very artistic when it comes to crafting social lubricants. I never got a chance to get her name but I will say that she was very informative when it came to giving us suggestions on what she believed we would be interested in. When we first arrived it was a glass of the Ninkasi IPA but we quickly switched over to their Winter Sangria. All I have to say it is like rediscovering ice cream for the first time again. If you're a fan of a true Sangria this is a must have to thing. I've been here quite a few times so my overall rating would be at 3.5-4 stars on the range. The only thing that keeps me from giving it 5 is my previous experiences with the crowd and the lack of customer service when they are busy. Other then that when its not very busy like this afternoon. Thats the best time to come in and check this place out.

The outdoor seating area is cozy around the firepit and the rooftop seating is a nice retreat warmed by a gas fireplace. The food can be hit or miss;it's ussually a hit when not inedibly overly salted. However, snippy service left a horrible taste in my mouth, and I'll never return again

Been here many times. The layout just seems a little off for a bar. It's hard to get to the bar area to order. If you sit at a table, you most likely will have table service, but it can be a little slow. The food is a little more upscale than typical bar fare, and prices reflect that. Fire pit outside, and that's where the smoking area is as well. Staff is generally nice when you actually get them to come by.

One star for the great building and outside fire pit area, and one star for the wonderful servers, but that's it....the food is not great. And I've tried it many, many times, thinking they were just having an "off" night. It's just bland. The mac-and-cheese is not cheesy, the desserts are boring, the butternut squash, meh.....it's really too bad. From now on I'll stick to beer only at Radio Room.

I went here with a group of friends, and man, was it delicious! My boyfriend and I shared the Havana Sam and the MF Tasty Burger, because we wanted to test them both out. The Havana Sam was amazing. I've never had a better pulled pork sandwich. But the MF Tasty Burger? That was MF'ing unbelievable! If I had a larger stomach, I would have eaten ten. The atmosphere was great, too: perfect volume on the music, a variety of tables for various group sizes, and friendly staff. We will definitely be back.

Nice vibe and friendly with cool environs but Bfast sandwich a little chalky for some odd reason. Gives off the friendly vibe of a fun affordable neighborhood place that welcomes kids. Would give it another try when back in town but wouldn't run there

Feeling hot, hot, hot! I'm a sucker for fires. We're talking fireplaces, fire pits, campfires, candles, heck, even a gas burning stove makes me hot and bothered. Radio Room has a pretty badass fire pit outside that sets my heart ablaze. It's the perfect spot to spend time with your latest flame and really turn up the heat. There is something really sexy about having a cocktail with a roaring fire nearby. I recently went to Radio Room on a cold, rainy night but the lure of the fire beckoned me to enjoy my cocktail fireside. The fire was so intoxicating I even sparked up a conversation with hearthside strangers. It's rare for me to kindle a bond at a bar but the romantic ambiance inspired my warm personality to emerge. By the time I left I was glowing. Radio Room also features a build-your-own Bloody Mary bar on Sundays. Do you have any idea how much I love Bloody Marys, the quintessential spicy drink? An establishment that gives me a ton of hot sauces to choose from and allows me to put my mixologist skills to good use makes me very happy. I've only eaten at Radio Room once so I can't really speak of the menu or the quality of the food. I've also only spent time outside and in the main bar so I can't even report on the space. All that is irrelevant when you have a fire pit and a Bloody Mary bar to entice me. Radio Room's Bloody Mary bar and outdoor hearth officially have a place in my heart. Now that's hot.

The only reason I'm giving this place three stars is because of the food. If I were basing this review solely on the service, I'd attempt to give it negative stars. Here's why. Two of my friends and I went to radio room on Thursday night. We walked in, sat ourselves, and waited. And waited. And waited until finally someone came over and said they would go find our server. So we waited some more. And some more. And while waiting we noticed there were only two other tables full in the half of the radio room we were sitting. So the long wait time couldn't possibly be because they were busy with other tables. Anyways, our server finally arrived. Got us some water. And we ordered our food. Then we waited for forever again. Finally got our delicious food (seriously, the grilled cheese is orgasmic). And then had to wait for a water refill. I don't know that our server ever checked on us. We had long since finished eating and were obviously looking around for her to bring the check and yet we still waited. And waited. And waited. Until she finally brought us the checks. And then took forever to actually take the checks. Needless to say, she did not earn any kind of a tip. Very disappointed.

I had been wanting to go to the Radio Room for a long time and it was finally suggested by my friend! I really enjoyed this place, and I think the best part was the ambience. Lighting was really good, music was good and not too loud, and seating was comfy. It was also surprisingly easy to find both parking and a seat in the place. I ordered the Radio Mary, which is their version of a bloody mary. It was super spicy and really good, as well as strong! For dinner I had the English beet salad (yes, I love beets. LOVE beets!). It was very tasty and the horseradish dressing was just the right amount of spicy to mix with the beet flavor. I also had a cup of clam chowder that was really good. The bread that came on the side was not too crunchy, which is good in my book. Service was fast and friendly. I want to come back and try the outdoor seating in the summer.

Looking for a low key place with good food and make your own blood mary bar, try this place out. Everyone really enjoyed their meal and the make your own bloody was fun. My only gripe was our food took forever to come out, I'm guessing because the waitress forgot to put our order in but she offered us a round of bloody mary's on her so can't complain to much. Great place to check out if you don't want to wait for brunch on a weekend morning in Portland.

A nice place for dinner. The service was nice, the food was tasty, and the crowd was lively. I expected burgers and fries but was surprised that most of the menu is a little more upscale than that. I enjoyed seared ahi over rice, smothered lightly in a sweet pepper sauce. I was pleasantly surprised.

I like this place. Not because the food is groundbreaking (it isn't) or because the service is fast and spot on (nope), but because I can find seats for brunch on the weekend. Radio Room is consistent in terms of delivery - it has decent drinks, decent coffee, and decent food that, while not stellar, is exactly what you might expect. The interior is a mix of salvaged Bingo boards, lamps last seen in the 70s, a rotating cast of local art (Alberta, natch), and some seriously comfortable booths. Not to mention that there's four distinct "zones" in the Radio Room - dining room, bar, outdoors around the fire pit, and a few tables on a second story terrace accessed through the courtyard. Other folks can drive up from Woodstock on a Saturday to crowd the Tin Shed and wait two hours for breakfast. I'll get my food in fifteen to twenty minutes down the street.

You know what? I'm FINE with not having to wait in line for every hipster-chocked breakfast or brunch place in the Alberta Area. In fact, more than being happy to just be able to sit down at a table without waiting for an ungodly 40-75 minutes as I was promised at many other establishments on any given Sunday (see what I did there?) -- but I actually enjoyed the food. I didn't have anything overly complicated. I don't think there were any heirloom tomatoes or pieces of chicory on my plate. That's more than fine too. What I did get was food cooked the way I ordered it, at a reasonable price, and without anyone giving me dirty looks for having showered that day. So the service wasn't perfect (had to ask for 2 water refills), and there wasn't any soy (at least that day) for my coffee -- but otherwise? I can't understand giving this place lower than 3 stars -- and I think it deserves 4 just for providing a shelter from the more "hip" places you need to plan an hour in advance for.

Outdoor patio - check! Happy hour craft cocktails - check! (Note: HH daily 3-6pm and 11pm-2am with a minimum $5 drink order) I came here one lovely afternoon with a couple of friends for crafty cocktails and to bask in the sun from Radio Room's patio. We came during their transitional time, where happy hour was ending and their dinner menu was taking into effect. Luckily, we came in just in time to put in a few orders of food before HH ended! - Cab Calamari ($5 for HH) seemed okay. The calamari was breaded and fried. Some of the calamari weren't breaded all the way through. It seemed it didn't get enough of the basting prior to frying. In addition, the house tartar sauce didn't fare well with the calamari. I decided to eat it without the sauce (which tasted much better!) - Radio Radio Cakes (mascarpone polenta cakes, $4 for HH) were grilled crispy and formed into a shape of stars. The two medium-sized pieces of polenta were served upon a paprika sauce. There was a hint of smokiness from the paprika, but I felt the dish lacked a bit of flavor. I had high hopes for this dish since it was different. The polenta cakes were an intriguing idea, but the overall delivery didn't shine through. - French Fries ($2 for HH): was your typical run of the mill fries. Decently cooked and salted. - Cajun Style Buffalo Burger ($11.75 for dinner) sounded quite delicious on the menu. Unfortunately it didn't really deliver. The Buffalo on the burger was cooked to medium rare and that was great. But there was no "Cajun" taste to the burger at all! The burger was lacking flavor. Luckily, there was a bottle of ketchup on the table to add to the burger and give it a bit of "oomph". The burger came with a side of fries, which were cooked a bit crispier than our happy hour order. - SWEET GREEN THING ($8) Yes that's the name of the drink! Locally distilled green tea + rum + Domaine de Canton + lime is served on the rocks. It's quite a refreshing drink on a summer day! It's so light as you consume, that you won't know what hit you a little later on! - UPPER DECK LEMONADE ($7) I love me some vodka! It's practically my go to drink at venues. This cocktail involved vodka + fresh lemonade + raspberry puree on a sugar-rimmed pint-sized glass. The drink was "juicy" and just as refreshing as the sweet green thing. But if you had to make me choose between the two, the sweet green thing stole my heart! (And I'm a Vodka fan!!!) Service was decent, but I felt Stephanie needed help since she was managing almost everyone. Parking is on the street (no meters to pay). Although the food was mediocre borderline so-so, I'm glad the drinks weren't! I would come back to try out their food again. Maybe I came on an "off" day? But from my afternoon happy hour experience, I'd only recommend this place for the crafty cocktails!

Had heard of the Radio Room for a while and now I can mark it off my list... yes, I seriously have a list of places I want to try in Portland. It seemed pretty empty but I realized it was almost 9pm on a Monday night. But, the bar seemed busy and there some people out by the fire pit. I had the Margarita Grilled cheese that was good but a little tasteless but my husband had the cheese steak and he thinks it's the best he has ever had. The service was great and they even spent some time with us talking about Alberta St. restaurants. We checked out the upstairs area and loved the fire pit. This place used to be an old gas station... very cool! We'll be back for breakfast soon! I have to try their coffee!

I visited twice. the fire pit outside was lovely and the upstairs looked nice. The main restaurant is open to the air when they open the doors. Although it is a large restaurant it still can maintain an intimate feel. Service was very good. 5 stars for atmosphere and service. unfortunately the food is a mixed bag. The kale soup was delightful. the fish tacos were nothing special. The Truffle french fries were heavenly as was the roasted Brussels sprouts. The Nutella custard pie was bleh. While I would definitely go back, I would stick to the menu items that people say are good.

My friends and I were wandering around Alberta when we decided to stop in for a drink. It was incredibly cold outside, and we were drawn in like moths to the fire and warmth coming from the radio room. The inside was massive, and provided plenty of seating options. We sat at the bar, and were promptly greeted and given menus. The bartender was really nice, informative, and convinced me to try a drink I wasn't sure about, the Hibiscus Gimlet. I usually hate gin, and after she explained the drink to me and that it wouldn't taste like a typical gin drink, I went ahead and tried it and adored the drink. I highly suggest that anyone remotely intrigued by the drink try it because the flavor is lightly aromatic and refreshing, very similar to Hibiscus tea. I had two at $8 each.

This is my go-to local bar. It strikes a good balance between good pub food and real restaurant fare, and the prices reflect this. Their happy-hour is also good, with a really good $5 burger and some great mac n' cheese. The upstairs patio is awesome in the summer, with a great view of Alberta St. and nice large tables. In the winter they have an enclosed tent set up with some heaters, but you still need a jacket.

We stopped by for happy hour on a weekday the Radio Room after a long day of walking around the city. We ordered beers, lemonade, the hummus plate, and the grilled cheese. We had a rotating waitstaff, and all of them were happy to serve us though it was a little weird to not know who to address. The hummus plate was amazing! Fresh and a little spicy hummus that was still warm. Served with a side of tomatoes, olives, cucumber slices, and freshly toasted pita bread. The whole thing hit the spot. The grilled cheese was nicely toasted and served with a balsamic glaze underneath. A little too much balsamic, but still a nice touch.

Nice place. I like that they have the essentials: wi-fi, fireplace, booze and food and the food is good. ******allllllllthouuuuuughhhh......the wi-fi sucks a lot of the time. Not sure why because they have at least 2 routers (one for upstairs and one for downstairs). It's so bad you can't even use it sometimes. So,4 stars instead of 5.

Ok, I have mixed feelings about writing this review, because I don't want to say anything bad about Radio Room. It's like setting up one friend with another friend, and you only want to tell them how awesome they are, but you feel like you should mention that one thing. I only discovered Radio Room a few months ago, which is sad. My lab partners and I started having weekly Sunday study sessions there after we realized that they might just be the perfect study spot. Free wifi, huge tables on which to spread out your notes and lab books with embarrassing pictures of penises (Of course we had to start studying there the week of male reproduction). Plus, you can order food, coffee and best of all, beer. We would often reward ourselves with a beer halfway through our session, and then another beer at the end. I don't care what anyone says, studying with beer is the best idea ever. So, basically, you take the best parts of a library ( wifi, big tables) and add better stuff (good music, beer). The food is good, the coffee is good, it never seems to be too crowded. All good, right? But there's just this one thing. The service. It's not like it is terrible. I mean, when you get a server, they are usually really nice. But they just are hard to flag down. I understand that my circumstances were less than ideal - we were basically camping out there, but we were ordering food and drinks during our time there, and didn't require much attention aside from the need to place an order. We often would go two hours without one person even looking at us, or asking us if we wanted anything. I don't expect them to check on us every 5 minutes, but maybe once an hour? We were even right next to the coffee bar, which is kind of their station, so it wouldn't take that much effort to give us a glance. We were pretty low maintenance customers, and they actually have a poster on the wall advertising that they are a great study spot, so I hope it wasn't our mere long term presence that granted us the cold shoulder. But really, aside from that Radio Room is great. Their upstairs patio is nice for sunny days, and they have a nice fire-pit outside too. Also, their happy hour is pretty good.

Here for another round and again I am very happy! I was able to score a couple bar stools at the bar with a friend. The bartender again was fantastic!!! Didn't eat this time, but all the food around me smelled amazing! they also had a fire going outside and it was packed. Good times!!!

Totally satisfying brunch with really great service! I had the breakfast burrito, but subbed the chorizo for avocado, and got homefries on the side (instead of french fries in the burrito as it is offered). It totally rocked my mildly hungover world! I also sat on the roof, which was pretty chill.

My boyfriend and I have been coming to Radio Room for brunch on Saturdays every week or every other week for the last couple of years. The food is good, but recently the menu changed and the food is even better than ever. Brunch has a whole new freshness - more veggies and better quality ingredients. I have to say our favorite part though is the Bar tender Talia - she is always friendly and provides the best service! I highly recommend sitting in the bar area and enjoying a wonderful brunch!

So... this was a bizarre and unfortunate breakfast. Bizarre because of the food, unfortunate because of the service. I called ahead to confirm I could sit at the bar to eat, and was told there was no waiting for those seats. Super! I had an hour and 15 minutes before I had to be at work, and was right by there. I got there, waited 5 minutes before getting up to hunt down someone to ask for a menu; stood at the host desk for another 2 before I actually had to stand directly in front of a server who had walked past me several times- to ask for a menu. Once back to my seat, a guy came and sat down next to me. His order was taken, his food arrived, and he was half way through his meal before I FINALLY made eye contact with his server to flag him down to make my order... 26 minutes after I had sat down with a menu. So this guy had his meal and was done before I got my food. Granted, the time between the order taken and the food arriving was only 3 minutes or so- I had changed my mind before ordering to get biscuits and gravy, since time was getting short, and that's usually premade. The biscuits arrived quickly! YAY! The food: Simple. Biscuits and gravy. Can't go wrong. I went with it because it would be fast. The bizarre thing about the meal was that it was so spicy, my nose was running and I was sweating as though someone dared me to eat a habenero. Ohmygod- it was so spicy! Not that it's bad, but really unexpected. I'm not certain yet how I feel about that, but definitely think it should say on the menu that it's spicy. I don't know if maybe it's because I ordered veg sausage gravy, they felt as though it could use a little punching up or what. Final word- I won't be going here again. I went because every other place I go to had a 45 minute wait. Next time, I'll just eat some toast before work.

Two steps forward, one step back. Two steps forward, one step back. The decor & atmosphere have migrated towards lite rockabilly gas station chic, Montage-esque handwritten menu complete with barb wire birdie tattoo motif. Even if it lacks originality, it fits the space better than the previous attempt at noir elegance. The service is still hit & miss, good folks but they lack basic organizational skills. During breakfast today, I saw several people enter and leave after not being greeted or helped in any way for long periods of time. Food is still inconsistent but getting better. Some things are great (the burger), some things are gross (soggy, possibly under-done french toast). Takes a little too long, which makes the gaps in service more noticeable. Such as... Not refilling my coffee, the $2.50 "Bottomless Coffee". I had to ask, twice, before I got a refill. The excuse was not having any brewed at the moment. When business is breakfast and when you're making a huge marketing push for your new coffee service, you might want to have some coffee ready. Or, apologize and offer me an Americano. Yeah. Maybe that's two steps forward, 1.5 steps back.

Imagine a group of ten friendly people casually coming in an getting seated quickly and smoothly. These customers have all worked in the service industry, are patient, respectful, and are FAT tippers. Seriously, some of the biggest tippers you could amass in one group. Everything was going very well until we got our server. Wow. She was horribly disrespectful and handled every aspect of her job very poorly. She rolled her eyes every chance she got, forgot food, handled it miserably, was a terrible communicator, etc etc etc. She was a maestro of agitation and bad attitude. If you do not know how to respect people, especially kind ones, you should not be in the service industry. Give the server spot up to someone who would have loved the extra fifty bucks (on top of the included fees) we would normally have tipped a decent server. The management should know that they have the rudest server working for them. No bueno for business.

A good sign that a restaurant promises to be good is the help-yourself coffee station right by the entrance, to appease you while you wait. And wait. And wait. As an Egg Benedict hunter, I must recognize that the biggest success here is the help yourself feature, but not the recommended Bennies. The Bloody Maries are most popular, mainly because of a condiment buffet at the bar placed to make your own tomato juice vegetable arrangement. It is insane how we Americans load up when given the choice. Never the necessary, go for the excessive. A greedy woman had overspilled her B.M. with the 3 stalks of celery and a handful of pickled green beans. Unfortunately, the Lambretta Benedicts were not excessive. They sounded fabulous, but the Hollandaise was disappointingly bland and insufficient, the English Muffin was not only not toasted, it wasn't heated!!! And the home fries probably were from the 7 a.m. batch, for the onions were burnt (no, not caramelized) and the green peppers in them awfully bitter. Only plus: the poached egg was perfect. But I can do that at home for 50 cents. We complained, but only were asked for feedback (yeah, let an outside cook give you free advice) and then the whole check was promptly plopped. NEVER GOING BACK AGAIN.

My friend and I had an AMAZING time at Radio Room on Christmas night. Great servers, especially Stephanie and Katelyn! Good drink prices, atmosphere and happy hour menu. I really enjoyed the upstairs covered patio & fireplace. Going back again for sure.

Really cool outdoor fire pit thing and pretty decent drinks. What gets this place a **** (4 star) rating was the staff and food! The beets salad was divine and the staff were super great, informative and attentive. Definitely coming back! =]

Came on a Sunday at 1 it was pretty busy, we only waited about 15 minutes to be seated. Service to our table was fairly quick considering how packed the place was. Drinks were great, beer selection great. I'm vegan and there aren't a ton of vegan specific items although I think they can do substitutions to make many items vegan. I ordered the Black Market Hash, husband the Halibut Fish Tacos and the Hush Puppies. All the meals were great! It did take awhile to get our food, but like I said it was busy! Our server was way cool and didn't make us feel unwelcome as some other places do if you're not a hipster. We will definitely be back!

Inviting place. I like that they have an espresso bar as well as a wet bar in the back. The food was pretty delicious. The starving artist seemed like a cute dish. The hummus plate was a little break off of heaven. I would recommend it for a somber night.

No good deed goes unpunished. I hate to update my review, but after two horrible experiences in a row, I think I'm giving up on the Radio Room. Call us crazy, but we went for dinner on Saturday night and brunch the next day. I'd been wanting to try their dinner menu for a long time. The Radio Radio cakes were really tasty, but they arrived with no plates, silverware or napkins and by the time we were actually able to eat them, they were barely warm. My mac and cheese was kind of bland and more of a liquid-y cheese sauce. There was one server for the entire main area of the restaurant so we waited quite a while for everything. I know she was busy and frazzled. She forgot to replace our water, our mustard and my friend's last drink order (which we cancelled). The next morning, we were dying for the RR Bloody Mary bar, so took our chances again. Nightmare. Again, a long wait to get menus and order. They were out of tofu, biscuits and home fries. At 12:30 on a Sunday. My poor vegetarian friend was 0 for three and ended up having to get a grilled cheese. The bloody was awesome as usual. Our server that day was very nice and took half off for those of us who got french fries instead of home fries, but I thought it would have been nice to do so for the one person who tried to order three different dishes, only to be denied. I'll miss you, JD Slinger and yummy grits, but I think it would be faster to go to the store, buy the stuff and cook it myself. The biggest bummer: now we have to find a new favorite place.

I'm new at this Yelp thing, but jesus.... my horrible experience here would inspire me to sign up, just to write a review to warn people away from this place. Went there for brunch by default, as every other place on Alberta was crammed.... and guess what? There was a very good reason it was empty! Crap service, never even got a refill of water while we waited over an hour for our food. I mean, c'mon! Its freaking breakfast food it should NOT take that long to cook and serve. AND once the food actually got to our table it was stone cold. Yuck. Sad thing is that the food might have actually been pretty delicious if it wasn't so damn cold. Ultimate fail. PLEASE save yourselves time and money and avoid this place. Flooded with annoying hipsters at night, and no good during the day.

First time here, but had passed it numerous times on the way to other places. Well today the wife got home and wanted a drink on a patio at some place different. We got there on this nice sunny day and the top and bottom patios were full, but we sat at the first table inside the garage doors that were open which was great. The beer selection was pretty good and so was the drink menu. But what we liked was the English beet salad and radio radio cakes... oh yeah they were really good! We also had the margherita grilled cheese, which was pretty good, and our friend had a burger that looked pretty good also. The service was good and the patios are GREAT, but get there early if you want a seat on a nice day.

I was here for dinner and then brunch the next day. the burger I ordered was pretty good but tasted a little gamer than usual. That's when I heard (not from an employee) that they use some buffalo in their blend. I ordered it with blue cheese (on that kick right now) but I felt like it was either concentrated in one spot or there just wasn't enough blue cheese. It didn't help that the bun was a tad bit large for the burger so I kind of lost it on a few bites. The fries are very tasty there though. Just enough salt and something in their frying oil b/c they definitely did not have that cardboard taste you get from other joints. Within 12 hours I managed to go back for breakfast as all the usual joints had a long wait as we drove by. At Radio Room, though, we sat down at the first empty booth (basically right next to the door) and ordered within 5-10 minutes. I got the Traditional Benny (eggs benedict). The hollandaise sauce was definitely one of the better ones I have had as it wasn't super heavy tasting and combo with the ham was great. I wish i had another english muffin to eat the left over sauce with! It may not be my first pick for getting a burger at, but the breakfast is great and the ambiance is pretty low key. One thing though, the stools at the coffee bar are pretty uncomfortable so keep that in mind.

I have tried Radio Room many times and I can say I will never go again. It took the server over two hours from start to awful end. We were the first table of five to be seated and the last to have out order taken and delivered. Everything was cold, and tired looking. I am over being lured in by their patio set up and line-less brunch, it is not worth it. I would rather wait in an hour line anywhere else.

Knock your sox off and taste bud addictive flavors and textures. Marguerite grilled cheese everything promised and even better touched with the accompanying balsamic reduction. Beets with arugula, goat cheese, vinaigrette and walnuts perfectly balanced, lick-your-plate clean tasty. And the Waite-something cocktail excelled. Friendly, attentive and prompt service. New favorite and open late nights a bonus!

Good servers and surprisingly good food. We are addicted to their mahi mahi dish - a great price for $13! Excellent coating, nice sauce and big portion. I love their grilled cheese with balsamic vinegar as well as their homemade hummus.

The worst! I was so excited to go to the Radio Room for Saturday night happy hour. We arrived at 5 pm and loved the sunny weather and the look of the patio. We went to the top level and shared a table with a nice gal. We were never even acknowledged after 30 minutes!!! We watched as everyone around us was served. I have never in my life been ignored like this. We left because there are so many other awesome places on Alberta. Don't bother with this place!

There are a lot of cool things about the Radio Room. It looks cool, albeit on the sterile side. The upper deck is pretty rad. Happy Hour snacks are cheap, and that gets a thumbs-up from me any time, even if the food is not super special. I don't expect a mindblowing experience when I'm only springin' five bucks. But there are a lot of things about it that make me cringe a little. I tend to side with the camp that thinks Radio Room represents all that is wrong with Alberta's transformation/revamping over the last 4-5 years, especially. Just for kicks, I googled RR to see if they had a website (can't remember exact prices after a certain amount of bubbly)- no dice. But google brings up a slew of reviews, many of which mention this very "out of place"/identity crisis issue they seem to have. I do recognize it's a good thing to have new fancy places in town and I do not mean to start a rant with a ten-dollar word like "gentrification", that's a discussion for another type of forum. Mad props to the dudes who committed to turning this old gas station into a bar/restaurant, which I am sure was not easy. In short, it just feels kind of soulless. I can't quite figure out what their schtick is supposed to be. Is it a 50s retro diner by way of looks but not by menu? Is it an ironic hipster bar for people who don't remember when The Nest was Joe's Place? Is it for a dinner date? TELL ME, Radio Room, what is your deal?! Once we have that established, maybe I can relax a little more. It's probably a good spot for peeps who head to NE for last Thursday, that's my best guess. Or maybe it's a gateway spot for peeps who don't live in NE. You know, hanging out on Alberta but not anywhere that has any remaining traces of what Alberta used to be like (which I dearly miss, if you can't tell). They have a lovely mimosa, but after about 4 of them, I said hold the juice, gimme the bubbly. Which I thought would have been a little less money, but whatevs. I will try it again. But I'm not sold yet. One star for trying to do something different, though I can't figure out what that is. One star for VERY friendly bartender who was totally attentive and accommodating to some borderline-obnoxious order changes, and one star for the upper deck. Upon reading my last sentence, I realize now no stars had anything to do with food- it was forgettable. Agreed with Kade M on skipping it.

If you like hush puppies, this is NOT the place to get them. Seriously over-spiced, tough-skinned, gummy. Both of the people at our table sent them back. Good hush puppies are simple. Corn meal, milk, egg; deep fry until golden - not black. No carrots, peppers, hot sauce. A good selection beer and ciders, though.

Stopped by the Radio Room for my first time during Last Thursday. The place was packed yet my friends and I snagged a booth and got drinks within minutes. The scene is hip with pretty people and even a cute Corgi up in the mix. Outdoor seating is plentiful and again we scored a primo seat upstairs where we were able to gaze aerially at passersby. Didn't have any of the food but the cooks looked busy. One of the line cooks took a moment to look up and give me a wink. Def a flirtatious vibe. Did partake in a few libations and they were STIFF and tasty! Can't wait to go back and try some noshes!

This is the first yelp review I've ever written and I'm doing it in the hopes that the radio room tunes it's dial in and listens. They just changed their menue and took off ALL the good stuff and they went from a Bplus to a D-. I have never seen such a radical change in a restaurant. They now suck. I teach a class in the area and used to go there at the end of the night with my assistant. When we first went we were shocked at how good the food was (for a bar) and we went back a few times a month. They had an amazing mushroom ravioli. They had a delicious baked brie. They had a rediculously good beet saled. The calamari was decent. Then the last time we went, they changed thier menue and took off all the good stuff and left only the same old, same old, south east fair. Burgers and mac and cheese. Really? I asked the waitress and she said that they have a new chef and they kept their most popular items and decided to up their quality. Upping their quality was total BS. When the food came it was horrible. I mean really horrible. I will use the beat salid as an example of the change, which was one of the few things they left on the menue. BEFORE it was a bunch of lettis sitting on top of a bed of beats with different colored beats mixed in. There were two pieces of goat cheese on either side of the plate. These yummie crunchie things. And there was a light sprinkling of dressing. It was even presented in a decent way. It was amazing for bar food. NOW - it is a bunch of lettus, there were three tiny chuncks of beats. So few that one of the people at the table even asked "Where are the beats?" There was almost no cheese and the tini pieces of chieese that were there, were under the lettus. And the worst thing is it was suddenly SWIMMING/DRENCHED in thousand Island dressing. They must have "upped" the quality on lettus and thousand island and drooped the quality of beets and goat cheese. We tried ordering a few of the dishes that used to be there. And all of them had gone down hill. The calimari was almost burned and it was overly salted. The fries (which no one really wanted but there was little left on the menue) were soggy. The salid sucked. And they no longer served the brie, the ravioli, or anything else that sounded good. I don't know if the owners are cutting costs, or if you got a new chef that can't do anything but fry burgers and badly deep fry things but if anyone out there is "RADIO ROOM LAND" is listening. Please go back to the way you used to be. Because as of now, we need to find another place to go after class.

I've been to Radio Room several times. Food has been very good to just fair...pretty inconsistent. But the drinks. The drinks have been great and if you ever have something made by Josh the Bartender you will be in heaven. This guy knows how to mix the most amazing concoctions. He made me a margarita with pepper-infused vodka and pomegranate that I've dreamed about since then. It was a special and not on the regular menu--it should be, though! Did you know they do breakfast? No long lines like other places on NE Alberta, and there's a bloody mary bar!

OK I'm giving them 4 stars because this is the first place that I have had an egg that tasted like an egg in maybe 10 years. I was starting to think I had exaggerated how good an egg taste back when I was a kid, I tried cooking them in bacon grease and butter and still they have no flavor. I've tried buying all the different kinds they sell at the store and they are all the same. Then one night we went to the Radio Room for dinner. Usually I order their Mushroom Soup which is one of my favorites soups in the whole area, but the special of the day was deconstructed Chili Relleno. It was so good, the whole thing was stacked so it had a fried egg over soft on top and it was what I remember from being a kid. The edges were crispy and the yolk was warm and runny and so rich. I think I talked about it for days. Actually made me consider buying chickens to get my own eggs which is insane because we had chickens when I was a kid (probably why I remember what eggs are supposed to taste like) and they are awful dirty birds that smell really bad and the rooster we had would chase my sister and I around the yard pecking at our leggs until we would climb up onto our picnic table and finally would throw our P&B sandwich at him which is what he was after. I love the drink called the Hot Lips (I think thats the name made with raspberries and pepper vodka) and pretty much everything else we have had has been good but that Chili Relleno will be on my mind for years. I keep thinking we will make it here for breakfast someday so I can maybe just have a plate of EGGS.

Oh sweet jesus, I just got the joke. The champagne of beer served in champagne flutes. And I've been there way too many times to not get it till now. I blame the mono and tonic stupor I always seem to leave there in. The food-skip it. Way too many good places in the area to get yer eat on after gettin yer drink on. Recent example:aforementioned monos and high lifes followed by MS pizza. Perfect way to absorb all the booze. The few times I have eaten there have ranged from ok to sub-mediocre. Bonus points for: the staff not killing me or my dog when he dug up the planter he was tied up next to (yeah, ok, he did this on two occasions). I think they fertilize their planters with a mix of fish guts, Aveeno lotion, rib eye bones and snow 'cause that's what he usually likes to roll around in.

Decent brunch in that very vegetarian and vegan friendly kind of way. Sit at the bar and you'll not only get to witness friendly server banter, but stories from the wild night prior. Super spicy bloody marys coupled with never ending cups of coffee. It's that often overlooked, decent, run of the mill breakfast spot that you go out of indecision and laziness. Plus you can walk in at noon and get a seat without a wait.

Breakfast advertised as being served all day so that makes me a happy girl. I like to keep a mental note of where I can have breakfast late in the day. We were there after 1pm. Sadly I didn't have breakfast but my dining companion did and her bagel sandwich looked really good. They also have a make it yourself Bloody Mary bar. They give you the vodka and tomato juice then you put together all the veggies you want in it. We had the house Bloodys with harbanero infused vodka opting to not go the DIY option. It was just what my sore throat needed. Hot and tasty it was a good drink. Then our meals arrived. I should have had breakfast instead of my burger. It was overcooked, poor quality of meat and they charged 1 dollar for a very thin slice of cheddar cheese and 2 dollars for 2 slices of bacon. The fries were thin, I asked for crispy and they were just done for the normal amount of time. We sat outside in the patio area that has a fire pit which was really nice. We had a small dog with us that was welcome there and was given a bone to chew on by our waitress. The waitress was attentive and we didn't need to flag her down for anything. She split our bill at the end of our meal without batting an eye and checked up on us to make sure everything was ok. She was great. I just wish my burger was better. I'll go back to try a breakfast item, the French toast sounded really good. I see from the reviews here there is a rooftop patio, that would have been cool to check out. Next time.

One New Year's Eve, I walked into the Radio Room with a friend. The vibe seemed quiet and date-y in there, so we left and head over to the Bye and Bye. I hadn't gone in since then until Yesterday morning when a friend suggested it for Breakfast. I was pleasantly surprised to see that it has plenty of people inside, but also plenty of seating left too. Usually Alberta St is just too crowded of a place to meet for Breakfast on the weekend. The Radio Room is a very large space with a couple of rooms and two outdoor seating areas. It is kinda neat looking inside, booths that remind me of a diner in a mafia movie set in New York. The menu was diverse. I appreciated that they had a few vegan options to choose from for Breakfast. The menu was clearly labelled with a 'V' to designate which dishes are vegan, so I don't have to guess. I ordered the vegan scramble, which was pretty good. It came with some potatoes and toast. My one complaint was that the coffee I ordered had a lot of grinds in it, which was a bit gross to drink. All in all, I'd say it was a good breakfast. I will definitely return some weekend morning.

They have great outside seating and the service was very friendly. The decor is a lot different than the traditional Alberta Vibe, but so is the vibe at Zaytoons. At least there is another place that is kid friendly without being another McMenamins....And I LOVED the tuna!

Everything about the Radio Room is average to slightly above average. With a few adjustments the place and its concept (if there is one) could be a little more focused, and really great. The atmosphere makes a solid attempt at having an old-school diner feel with black vinyl and chrome rimmed booths, but then loses that feel with wood tables and chairs. The staff is kind of Portland hipster and gives decent service, but might think themselves a bit too cool to provide great service. The beer selection is good and the drink list sufficient. The food is hit and miss. Once I got a burger that was tiny, so never ordered it again. Then another day I saw a much larger burger pass me on its way to another table. The honey chipotle BBQ wings are delicious and don't need the ranch they're served with. The marscapone polenta cakes with smoked paprika cream sauce are very flavorful, but by the end of eating them you wouldn't think of another bite because they're so rich (no need to put marscapone in the polenta and then a cream sauce - maybe a tangy sauce like a tomatillo would work better). Finally, we got the Ahi tacos and the seared Ahi was not fresh (it smelled fishy) so we didn't eat them. We mentioned this to the waitress and were still charged for them. Overall, I'd go other places on Alberta before the Radio Room, but will go back when looking for a change from the regular spots

While I feel like I'm not quite trendy enough to hang out inside the radio room (which is decorated very cool), it is still a fun place to go. I am especially a fan of the outdoor - rooftop seating area which has a sweet fireplace. The food and drinks are usually good. If you are up for something sweet, try the Upper Deck Lemonade. The radio room was our first stop during a bar-hopping bachelorette party. Everyone liked being there so much, we stayed there half of the night. It is good for groups. This is also a great place to go for coffee and breakfast in the morning. It is usually pretty quiet so you get your food quickly and basically have the staff to yourself.

Tried this place for brunch recently. Able to sit at a booth immediately, and were happy to not have to wait for a table. Very friendly & quick service from our server too. But the food was just okay. I had the blue corn pancakes, which were very bland and the benedict my husband ordered was decent, but not outstanding. Would try again if we are in the area, just would switch up the food order next time.

Three stars. We went on Christmas day, which they seemed to be a bit unprepared for. Service was good for our party of six, but they were out of scallops already at 6 pm, which was disappointing. The bacon wrapped prawn appetizers were great, the fresh bread was great as well. But the steaks were not so great, and all three of our party that ordered steak were disappointed. It LOOKS impressive, a big slab of New York strip, but the cuts were not very good and gristly, and one steak was just not cooked correctly - they tried for "blue rare" but just missed the mark. The pork chops were pretty good but a bit bland. It's possible that the place may be better in non-holiday situations; I'd be willing to try it again some other time.

I have a heavy hand when giving stars. Why? I go on a few things. 1. Did I have a good time? Yes 2. Did I like the art and vibe of the place? Yes 3. Did I get a good waiter/waitress? yes 4. Did I like my food? yes Let's talk about the food. Here's what I got. Mac and cheese with tomatoes and garlic. Recommended by the waitress. Still one of the best mac and cheese's I've had here, and I've had a LOT in the PDX. Other things I've gotten here have been on the late night menu, a grilled cheese which was scrumptious (bring back that word, tastebuds!) and a side of palenta? I don't know exactly, but it was like this cheesy, thick tomato soup. What did I do? Of course! Dipped the grilled cheese in it! duh. 5 Stars. Been twice, both times left satisfied. Radio room, you go girl!

I think I need to go back to the Radio Room one more time to decide if I really like this place or not.... This place seemed a little confused. Like it doesn't quite know what it wants to be. The crowd was very random. Old creepers on one side of the room, jocks on the patio, Hipsters playing trivia. I'm leaning more towards disliking it, but the trivia was pretty fun. Average drinks. I'll give it another shot. Maybe I was there on a bad night?

It was with a heavy heart that I found myself at the Radio Room for the first time. Overcome with grief, we gathered as a family to mourn and to say goodbye...to youth. Lizzie was Dirty Thirty and adult beverages were required! It helped to ease her into acceptance of the loss her twenties. As the last of our immediate group of friends to be welcomed into this exclusive club of mature (in age only) individuals, I couldn't help but notice a that a few of the elder members seemed almost happy to add another to our faction. So as we watched her grow old before our eyes, our server attentively ensured that no one was without their desired beverage of choice. With a group of twenty plus, some eating some not, this was an impressive feat; she must be in her twenties still to be so on point. She also kept track of the orders for each individual group (couples, singles, non-defined companions) and was happy to accept either cash or charge from each. Our base of operation was on the rooftop patio, which while unremarkable in décor, provided the perfect location for our loud, boisterous and aging group. Each member of the staff was friendly and quick with a smile; although the hostess was a little too concerned with my frequent trips to the men's room. I think she was keeping tally. For me, each pint consumed equals at least one to two trips; I think the excess hop consumption over the years has created a pregnant woman's bladder in my adult male innards. C'est dommage. The restaurant portion was nice; modern simplicity. I must admit I expected a little more. Beer selection was serviceable; good selection of cocktails. The happy hour menu looked great, but we arrived slightly after the witching hour. I would definitely return, as overall it was an enjoyable evening despite the sad and depressing occasion. Happy Dirty Thirty, Lizzie!

My food was bland as if there were no seasoning or condiments. The outdoor seating experience upstairs was completely ruined by the smokers at every table around ours. The waitress wasn't friendly or attentive and the water served in wine bottles (great idea) was room temperature. Not exactly refreshing. Since I never judge a restaurant entirely on my first experience, I'll give it one more shot. I really hope they do better.

I walked in here for breakfast one day because almost everything else on Alberta Street looked super crowded for the time of morning. It wasn't exactly a gorgeous sunny morning, but it wasn't raining so we chose to sit outside, which seemed to upset our waitress, but we went anyways - I feel like she paid much less attention to us because we were outside (she came to fill coffee and water only once, and I could have used more), which is part of why this place gets 3 stars instead of 4. We both ordered the same thing - pancakes, house potatoes, and bacon. The food was great, and they gave a good amount for the price. Because the food was good I think I'd try this place again, maybe at a different time of day, when there is a larger wait staff.

I really want to like Radio Room but I've been there several times and it's just not consistently good. My best experience was having drinks at the bar while watching a game. For that, I would recommend the place. For brunch... it's mediocre and for dinner... not so good. There are too many other really good places in NE Portland, Radio Room just doesn't compete.

PDX breakfast... Full bar, good tap selection, open and serving early, no crowds @ 7:30 am, plenty of seating. For us night shifters there aren't many places in the area to bring a large, hungry, drinking group @ 7:30 in the a.m. Radio Room has a large trestle style table set up that easily accommodates 15. The food is good and for the # of staff in the morning, one kitchen and one waitress, they are able to keep up with a boisterous full bar group.

I ventured over to this place after having a drink at Bye and Bye. Even though I gave them the same number of stars I definitely liked Radio Room more. I had the Upper Deck Lemonade which was absolutely delicious! I also had the ahi tacos and some of their fries. Both were very good. I would love to go back sometime and try their lunch or dinner menu...and more of their cocktails!

First time there. Had two beers, & the happy-hour beet salad, which was tiny, but very tasty. I was impressed by the happy-hour menu in general, & definitely hope to check the rest out soon. Experience rounded out by excellent service from Brandon.

SO let's talk about Radio Room...it's definitely a cool setting...great for a big group...fire pit....roof patio...down to earth wait staff...great right...yeah well the atmosphere is definitely cool...problem is the food is a little unpredictable. I went the first time to watch the Duck NCAA championship game...it was very cool to hang out with a big group of loud arowdy people into the game...plus staff was so cool with us being their for three hours...it was happy hour and the 5$ burger and 2$ fries were a-okay... so when I went again a few weeks later I was so disappointed in the food. I was craving good fries and I had remembered the fries as good...well the 2nd time they were terrible like they were left under a heat lamp for too long...the bucket of muscles had a great sauce but some of the fish was bad and tasted awful... I definitely think this is a good spot to hang I just don't want to be the one to tell you the food is good...it's okay and not so expensive that is probably worth a trip there yourself.

LIke a lot of Yelpers, I'm not entirely sure what Radio Room is going for and yet I think it answers a question many of us ask: Where can our amorphous group of drinkers of unknown quantity pick to be our assembly point, given that we cannot agree on what we want to eat (if at all) nor whether we want mixed drinks or a generous beer selection. In other words, its a destination for the undecided. And a nice one at that. Our waitress told us, when I asked if Fridays were busy, that she really couldn't predict any given night. They could be slammed on a Wednesday and half empty on a Saturday (which, BTW they were this past Saturday. And that would explain some inconsistent service because it's really hard to staff or prep for that). Our group on Saturday was going to be 5 for a beer and ended up being 9 for dinner and drinks. etc. This was not even a small problem for the RR crew. We could have doubled again, like some kind of protozoa, and they wouldn't have batted an eye, although cytokinesis is usually not a welcome sight in a dining establishment. Dinners at our table alone ranged from mussels to burgers to ahi tacos to steak and everybody seemed quite pleased with what they got. And every couple or individual got a separate check with the large group gratuity added for each. That's so much nicer than trying to sort out a big tab AFTER drinking. Radio Room tries to keep it interesting with special things every other night - Bingo on Mondays, Trivia Tuesdays, Industry Night Sundays etc. But you don't need to remember all that. Just commit this to memory: next time you're in Northeast and you have a crew that can't settle on where to go - Radio Room is the Decider.

The food here is so-so. I had the radio burger and my friend had the pasta carbonara. The Radio burger was very salty. I like salt, but this was ridiculous. The carbonara was gummy. I really wanted to like it. I think the setting is great. The menu reminded me too much of the Doug Fir. The people were nice, too. Just the food was sub-par and portions were small.

Okay, going on a limb here... "Best on Alberta" Seriously, it brings the usual scene to a whole new level... An adult playground, with food and beverage. The drinks are great. Good selections of wine and liquor drinks. Even $2 Rainier long necks! I had the burger with goat cheese and my friend had the ruben. Both were deee-lish! We also ordered the the fried/breaded cheese-stuffed olives. Phenomenal. But the real reason to stop in is the architecture. The tucked away bar, the upper deck with views of Alberta and the Catholic church steeples, and the gas fueled cozy campfire with concrete benches, right up front on the patio. I also have to mention they went out of their way to provide more than adequate bike parking. Truly, a hit. And soon to be an Alberta staple.

I went here for a few drinks with some girlfriends, and we had a great time. We sat on the roof, had cocktails & dinner, and listened to the awesome drum circle. The food was good. The drinks were good. The service was pretty good, considering how busy they were. Definitely will be making a return trip back to the radio room, although I might wait until my foot heals post surgery so I can hang on the roof again!

Question: When is a good time of day to go to the Radio Room? Answer: ANY time of day! I love this place. Any day, any time. After work in the summer on the Upper Deck whilst sipping an Upper Deck lemonade in the (hopefully!) sunshine. A rainy Sunday morning cozied up with your favorite people in a corner booth and nursing a Radio Mary. There just isn't a bad time. Their outside space is pretty rad for being right on Alberta Street. The lower level patio has a great fire pit that's perfect for those chillier nights while the upper deck has an awesome partially covered space that you'll be lucky to find an open space in during the sunshiny months in Portland. It's rather dreamy for brunch during the summer, just throwing that out there. I've always had exceptional service during my (many) visits to the Radio Room, with the exception of one time. I usually sit in the bar area if I'm inside and the bartender/server guy that's always had my tables is hilarious and entertaining and shoots the shit right back at you. The one time I had bad service was a Monday mid-morning (random, right?). A group of friends and I stopped in for those perfectly spicy Radio Marys that I mentioned and all of the tables in the bar that weren't occupied were dirty and in need of a clearing, but no one was doing it. We cozied in to one of the booths and decided to wait it out. We waited it out ... Right out the door. We sat without being acknowledged for 15 minutes and the previous booth tenant's dishes were still on the table. We decided to move our Monday Morning Shenanigans to the next spot - sadface. But! Aside from that, I don't have any complaints. Even when the place is hopping on a sunny Friday evening, my drink orders have been promptly filled. The food at Radio Room is also pretty good. I like that their menu has options for all dietary needs. Vegan, veg, gluten-free, carnivore, etc. You're bound to find something on the menu that will please your palate.

The ambience here is good; the waiter at our table was nice; but when he booted us out of our table to make room for a bigger party, we had to sit at the bar. Both the waiter and bartender denied our request for a free drink for making us move. The bartender stated he was too busy to discuss drinks and demanded our order. He then proceeded to regularly throw glasses in a basket with a loud clank that frayed our already shot work nerves.

If you're a Timbers fan, don't plan on watching any games here. They don't play sound, which is disappointing because I saw them advertise that they "show all Timbers games" on every table top. Maybe you're not a sports fan, and that's fine. But watching sports (especially soccer, at least in my mind) without sound is like watching a silent movie with no subtitles. Lame too, since we invited a bunch of people to meet us there for a game, but were stuck there since they didn't tell us about the no sound thing until 10 minutes before the game- not enough time to pay and make it to a reputable bar that would play it with sound. Highly annoying. We left at halftime, but I won't go here for anything but happy hour me thinks. I would have given 2 stars, but the happy hour menu was decent and they have root beer on fountain. I have also been here for brunch and the prices were reasonable and the food is acceptable.

This is an overdue review of Radio Room. I visited here a few weeks ago and it was a Monday 4pm~ish so I don't know how fair this will be. I'm sure a visit on a Thurs/Fri/Sat would probably have earned Radio Room an extra star, and should I go back for another visit, I will surely update this one. A friend and I were one of four tables in the entire joint. Now to some this may be good but it was under-occupied for my taste. No music, no nothing, just the chattering of the three other tables. The service was prompt and friendly (not like there were others to tend to) but the beers were a bit on the warm side. Switched to my scotch over ice and all was good. The food was ok but nothing to write home about. I've heard good things about this place so I will give them the benefit of the doubt and chalk it up to being a Monday.

I really like Radio Room. I've been three times now and each visit was different. The first was with my 11 year old daughter. The service was wonderful and they treated her great! We both had the grilled cheese with tomato and balsamic. Wow! The second time I went for just drinks and sat outside. The server was funny and friendly and the drinks were good. The third time was lunch with a friend. I had the ham, brie and apple sandwich. Wow again! The only thing I would suggest is more staff. They did great but they were moving.

Pure unadulterated Laziness brought me back here. Story goes, out for drinks at Alberta Pub,it closes at one. Me and fellow booze hound didn't have any booze at home. Still wanna get our swerve on, but the Nest seemed far off. Bye -n- Bye had people spilling out the door, not good when you need that last minute drink or 4 and you only got an hour. Sobriety or Radio Room? It's Friday, RR it was. No One was there, and we got to take over the outdoor fire pit area. Our server was FANTASTIC and the drinks were DIVINE. We were literally treated like royalty. I am reserving some stars for food, if I go back for some.

Service incredibly slow and inept about remembering orders. Food came out with one entree barely warm and the other reasonably hot after about an hour. the place was not that busy but tables went un-bussed for a long time making it tough to find a place to sit. Food was ok, but I won't be going back soon.

We go to Radio Room every once in awhile, even once for breakfast, and it's usually great bordering on good. The food is good, the service is good, and they have bingo sometimes with an old-school bingo board. Add in the outdoor seating areas (one with firepit), and you don't get much better in town without spending a lot more.

First off - trivia tuesdays here are amazing. I've been a fan ever since I first stumbled upon a night hosted by a bald guy with glasses. I think his name is Keith. There is also a couple (guy and girl) who host and are allright...but the single bald guy is who you want. Video and audio trivia rounds projected on a big screen - super nerdy pop culture that's always funny and entertaining...this is tied for my favorite trivia spot in town. If you read other reviews here, you know that understaffing is a problem amongst the service staff. They are nice but there need to be more of them. Some nights are frustratingly slow because there's around 15 tables in the main room and 1 server getting drinks and food for everyone and possibly the other room as well. The food is mostly good but kinda hit-and-miss. I've never been impressed by the desserts but the mac and cheese is superb, and the fish tacos are heavenly. drink specials ($1 miller high life in a champange flute!) are good, and an actual coffee station instead of a thermos. Fire pit and upstairs area are sweet, and the jukebox will blow your mind with randomness. The decor is too L.A. for my taste, but that's what hipsters on Alberta are into these days - so whatever. Go check out a tuesday trivia night!

Patience is not always a virtue - for if we had waited an hour at either of the restaurants nearby, we would not have experienced Radio Rooms fabulous breakfast. O...M...G!! I have never had such amazing biscuits or gravy. The restaurant was full, but being that there was only 2 of us, we were able to snag a 2 person table in the corner. I was craving biscuits and gravy and was sooo happy I didn't go with a more traditional bacon and eggs breakfast. First, they give you 2 biscuits and they are large. Second, they are the slightest bit crisp on the outside, but moist on the inside. Third, the white country gravy had large bits of sausage - as they all should (but don't often do). Fourth, they served sides of home fried potatoes for $2.50. The last breakfast restaurant I dined ate didn't have potatoes as an option. They also served eggs for a $1. That same restaurant that didn't serve potatoes charges $4.50 for an egg on the side. Fifth, for as busy as it was, our food came out rather fast. I was starving, so that was important. Lastly, the place is hipster cool without being obnoxious. I'd had happy hour here before and got great food and service, but this was my first breakfast experience. It's going to be really, really hard for me to find another breakfast that tops this one.

Anyway you cut it, I was hungry. I wound up at Radio Room at 1101 NE Alberta Street. The outside decor initially caught my eye. The glowing hot fire pits on the front patio and the black modern decor called my name. Granted it was raining, so the outdoor seating was out of the question and I wandered inside. After not being greeted at the door I approached the front bar and was told by the hostess (?) to sit anywhere. I grabbed a seat along the bench looking out to the front part of the restaurant. There was a food menu already on the table. Since it was before 3pm, I would be ordering off the breakfast/lunch menu. The same girl brought me an open bottle of what appeared to be wine and a small glass. A little early for me, but after cracking a dumb joke about being an alcoholic she confirmed it was, of course, water. I ordered a coke and took a look around before taking a good look at the menu. I loved the art on the walls. Celebrate local!! A great thing. The open space of the lower level was very welcoming and the seats were comfortable. There was a group of seven women sitting at the middle table laughing it up and having a great time. They appeared to be happy with their food judging by their comments and clean plates. More great things, so I figured I was in for a good meal. I looked a bit more at the menu. Everything was clearly marked as vegetarian, vegan or gluten free. Although the breakfast items sounded delicious, my eyes wandered to the Burgers n Sammys section. Didnt want a burger, and wasnt sure about the brunch hours since they weren't clearly marked on the menu. Instead of asking I went for the Grilled Turkey Pear Brie Sandwich. Described as "House-roasted turkey breast with brie, anjou pear, and caramelized onions on grilled challah bread", I figured I couldn't lose. What an amazing combination of ingredients; my mouth was watering just reading the description. My coke arrived via the hostess (who must be my waitress as well, right?) and I ordered the sandwich that had caught my fancy. Served with fries, but I could sub a salad for a buck or seasonal veggies for two bucks. Two bucks is a little much for me as the sandwich I ordered was already the most expensive of the bunch so I opted for the included fries. My meal arrived via a male waiter. This type of switcheroo has always baffled me. The place was not busy by any stretch, so I guess thats just how they do it. I always wonder who gets the tip in these cases. Do they split it? What if one of them kinda sucks and the other rocks? Maybe I dont want to reward one but appreciate the other? I get so confused... The sandwich looked amazing. It was hot and the brie was melting off the sides. The caramelized onions had great color and appeared to be grilled just right. The pears were visible as well and my palate was going mad at this point. The challah bread had been toasted and I could see the texture and grains jumping off the plate. The turkey was a different story. It didnt appear to be cooked, grilled or house-roasted by any stretch. I took a bite, still expecting a miracle in my mouth. It didnt happen. This was the most bland sandwich I have ever had. The turkey was cool and had no taste (other than plain turkey) and the onions, though caramelized, were flavorless. I could barely taste the brie and the bottom bread was soggy. Although the meal and another coke had arrived relatively quickly, I was instantly disappointed. Its tough to say anything when my mouth is full of food, which is, of course, when all waitstaff choose to ask "how are you doing?" A half smile and a mediocre thumbs up answered that question. Unfortunately, the fries were cold and few and far between. A little ketchup helped I suppose, but nonetheless, didnt hide the chill. Good flavor, but they could have been from any fast food joint in the country. At this point I was ready for another beverage, but the waitstaff was too busy entertaining themselves behind the bar to glance in my direction. I had my empty glass sitting on the corner of the table to signify I wanted another, but my attempts at direct eye contact went unnoticed due to the grand time they were having ignoring me. After dry-swallowing my sandwich and fries, the waiter finally appeared and I signaled for another coke. He nodded and proceeded to disappear for 10 minutes. I went to the bathroom to wash my hands but was hesitant to touch anything as the condition of the sink and floor and toilets led me to believe that they hadnt been touched from the

I think I'm beginning to fall in love with the Radio Room. I mean, I wouldn't have gone out of my way to discover it if a friend hadn't moved into the neighborhood, but she did and now it's awesome. Drinks are always good. Food always tasty. And while I've never managed to migrate my way out of the bar area I dig the fire pit outside. Plus they serve High Life in a champagne glass if I want them to. And that, my friends, is class.

I really love the space here. Radio Room is huge and you can always find a big cozy booth to sit at...that's actually one of the things I really love about Radio Room. Anytime that I am feeling indecisive of somewhere local that I want to eat for dinner, it's always a unanimous decision that we eat at Radio Room. It's especially great if I want to do some sketching, or work stuff too, no one really cares. The service is always really good and the food is usually pretty good too. The first time I came I ordered the build it yourself Mac, I wasn't too impressed, there was barely any cheese on it, so you really couldn't call it Mac n' Cheese. The second time was the half chicken and it was really good. The Happy Hour also cannot be beat!

if this bar was in LA, it would be filled with d-bags. However its not its in portland, so it is filled with cool hipsters who are not wanting to be some actor. this place is giant, they serve a late night happy hour, with high life served in a flute glass for 2$. amazing. there is an upstairs deck , with a great view of NE and HEAT LAMPS!!! Also outside is a firepit, when i came there was an interesting old man not quiet a homeless but not really yr average bar fly. anyways he was babbling on about Indian death chants. very interesting not to mention entertaining. If the cheap drink prices in a nice location dont get you, the juke box selction just might. Great punk and indie staples were pumped otu all night. Also the fact that this place has a nice board game selection came in handy. my cousin and I played janga and sipped 2$ beers all night long.

I'm a fan of Radio Room. It's big enough that you can find seating, especially on the patio on a sunny day. The food is decent, good portions and not too expensive. And while our server during a recent busy Friday happy hour would sometimes neglect us for quite a while at other times he was very attentive and was always good and got our orders right. Plus you can come for brunch on the weekends and not have to wait forever. Overall, nothing super-special but just a good all around place to meet friends and enjoy Alberta St.

I'm SO glad this place was empty in the restaurant area. The patio was bulging with the young (ish) and hip and kinda made me cringe but there were maybe 10 other people inside. On a Saturday evening. Our server was really personable and had good recommendations for happy hour eats. I had the mascarpone polenta cakes and OMG they were tasty. All light and almost mashed potato-like in texture... They were shaped like stars so extra points for the cute. My guy had the hummus platter which was good but it's pretty hard to make hummus spectacular. The drink specials were pretty good considering it was prime bar night. My $5 minty juicy fruity boozy goodness in a pint glass was a good deal IMO. My guy's punch was maybe TOO good, he drank it too fast. It tasted like some kind of candy that I couldn't quite figure out. Sweet-tarts? Smarties? Oh yeah they brought us water in an old wine bottle. I thought that was cute. The atmosphere was nice, local art for sale and a weird huge portrait of Robert Mitchum above the service area. I'd go again.

This place feels cool. Watch out for the happy hour. It only applies with a minimum of a $5 drink purchase. What's the point. Also there's only 2 spots in the entire place where there are outlets to plug in your laptop.

For vegetarians and vegans: On my first visit, I ordered the vegan scramble. After my first bite, I thought "yum!" but a few bites in I realized how insanely greasy, and over seasoned (paprika(?!) and SALT) the scramble was. It totally gave me the impression that the cooks are desperately trying to doctor up the tofu because they think tofu is tasteless and gross. Well, tofu can actually be pretty delicious with minimal effort - like sauteing it with some garlic and onions. No big deal. On my second visit, I had the Mr. Farmer which the menu stated was roasted vegetables and potatoes, served with an egg and cheddar cheese. I ordered mine without cheese. What came was a bowl of potatoes that were undercooked and completely coated in paprika. It didn't even make sense. There were virtually zero vegetables in my bowl besides a few microscopic pieces of grayish broccoli and the over easy egg was tiny. I honestly couldn't believe it. I paid 8 bucks for a bowl of shitty potatoes. And there was this weird, burned aftertaste that was pretty horrid. Sort of like my potatoes had been cooked on a dirty grill. I do have to say, this place has a nice space including rooftop seating, a patio, dining room and bar seating. I'm sure that it would be a nice place to grab a few drinks and some cheap happy hour food. But, if you're a vegetarian DO NOT come here for a scramble or anything savory! Maybe the sweet stuff is good (corn cakes and french toast)? In a city like Portland, you just can't get away with serving lackluster breakfast and brunch. On Sunday, Mother's Day, with the King farmer's market mere blocks away, this place was nearly empty. You have too many competitors to skimp on fresh veggies and coat your food in seasonings (paprika?!?!).

The experience of this place is just fantastic. Grrreat music, as its name would imply, and the service was fast and friendly. We sat outside, which was awesome, and I didn't feel like they forgot about us! As for the food, I thought my omelet had tasty fresh ingredients, but it was a little greasy, and the presentation was not that impressive. We did order the special "tropical pancakes," though, which had pineapple and various nuts, including macadamias and pecans (my favorite). Anyway, check it out! Go for the food and you might be disappointed, but bring a friend and you will certainly have a wonderful time.

No, just no. Never. There's something deeply, fundamentally wrong here. Although the beer was not super expensive and the fries were good, I just hate being in this place. No personality, no character, no charm. Just another bar/restaurant that couldn't have picked a worse place to settle. I felt absolutely bizarre and there were about two other people in the entire restaurant who weren't staff members. No, thanks.

The drinks are were pretty good. I had a lemonade that had rasberries in it. Very refreshing. Amy and I stuck with appetizers....and they were so-so. The Radio Cakes needed a different sauce as they were kind of bland. The Olive poppers were too salty. But others had main dishes and they looked really good. Burger was nice and big. The Reuben seemed pilled high with meat. Someone had the tuna and it looked well prepared. Will try to go back and try more items.

God bless Radio Room for being open for brunch on Christmas. I knew it could happen in Portland, Land of Brunch. We called in a noon reservation for today after making this blessed discovery via Google last night - I think there was some communication breakdown that happened between here and there, but the hostess was gracious enough to honor it and seat us when we arrived. You can never underestimate the love of brunch in Portland, and this was doubly true today at Radio Room. The fact that earlier brunchers had gobbled up all the bacon-wrapped filet mignon and even the battered and fried trout from the prix fix holiday menu left us to order the sourdough strata with sundried tomatoes and chard or the eggnog-battered french toast with peppermint creme anglaise. The strata was a baked savory bread pudding and was delightful with poached eggs and a wedge of cranberry pumpkin bread. The eggnog-battered toast with praline-glazed bacon was in the hands of my fiance and I only have data on the taste of the bacon, which was superb. I was also glad to see that Radio Room serves Foxfire Tea, a local looseleaf that is so much yummier than Tazo or Tao. I was so grateful today to let someone else make the food, and it was such a treat to be in a restaurant environment on such a home-focused day. Our server Kerry was in great costume and great spirits, and did a killer job managing the room full of holiday brunchers. The only downer to our experience today was the rude and demanding patriarch at the head of the table of nine to our left who was repeatedly shoving his meal away, having it brought back, and running his mouth. I could tell he was embarassing his family, and everyone nearby was made uncomfortable by his loud and obnoxious bad attitude. We were relieved when he left and our server could be freed up to actually help other people and everybody in the room could breathe a sigh of relief and actually eat. I thought we had all gotten our holiday asshattery out of the way by stealing each others' parking spots at the mall, but somebody saved some special attitude for Christmas day. Lucky us. It's the gift that needs no wrapping. I can't wait to do brunch at Radio Room again, as I hear the wait is not as legendary as that at Tin Shed. After scoping out the rooftop tables, I am also plotting some summer cocktail evenings.

This place gets a favourable review for being one of approximately 3 businesses open on July 4th in northeast Portland for dinner. Taking a chance as an out of town visitor, this place has a hip, urban-retro vibe; under normal circumstances, hipster-ish places top my "avoid at all costs" list of dining rules. It's not overly cheap, but you get a fair amount of food for the price. A classic burger totally hit the spot with a scattering of fries hugging its perimeter. The only downside was that it came with a healthy--make that unhealthy--amount of mayo on both sides of the meat; an ingredient not listed on the menu nor in the waitress' verbal rundown of things I wanted to include. Tsk tsk. But they got style points for serving water from a recycled wine bottle, and the food was delicious, despite the mayaux-pas. I would try it again, so long as steel-belted hipsters aren't crowding the entrance.

I come here all.the.time. Not only because it's extremely close to my house (yes, I have stumbled home after a few too many drinks) but because the service is great and the drinks and food are delicious. Prices are a bit high, but the ambiance is great - be sure to check out the fire pit at night, or the upstairs balcony during the summer.

I started out about to give the Radio Room one star, but they managed to redeem their rating. Here's the sitch... I went there on a Monday morning craving French Toast. BTW, they serve it with bacon AND eggs. Our server messed up my order and it arrived not how I was looking forward to it arriving. Then, I found out that you get Mrs. Butterworths and real maple syrup costs extra. I don't care, I want real maple syrup, cause I'm spoiled like that. Additionally, the french toast is made with French bread, so cutting it with a butter knife is not effective. Neither is chewing it with human teeth. Boo to their french toast. Fortunately, my boyfriend ordered their toasted turkey sandwich (WHICH IS DELICIOUS) so we swtiched. Happy girl, once again. Last night we were planning on going to the Bye and Bye (see my review), but it was too busy and smelled of stinky, hippy armpits (I'm serious), so we opted for the Radio Room. Now, dinner was amazing! I started with a greyhound to drink, yum, and we split the mussels ($12 for a big bucket). You can choose one of three broths, so we went with the bacon, shallots, and cream. They're served in a bucket with Asiago crustini and it was soooo goood. Then, we tried the paprika seared Ahi and the Meat Loaf. Both were good. I prefer the potatoes Au Gratin to Mashed, because they have better flavor. Portion sizes are enough to fill you up, but not so large you feel guilty not being able to finish your meal. I'll definitely go back, so long as the Radio Room continues to not smell like armpits and hairy legs.

I have a love/hate relationship with this place. While I've been here for every meal, and everything I've ever tried has been delicious, the service tends to be on the weak side. I hadn't been back here in six months or so, and went this last Friday for breakfast with my wife. The sign when you walk in says please seat yourself at any clean table, and we did so. After ten minutes of watching the sole male server bust his ass, a female server joined him on the floor. He pointed us out and said we needed to be helped, which was awesome that he noticed us at all (maybe some acknowledgement to us would've been nice). She came over and asked if we were ready to order, to which we replied we hadn't gotten menus to look over or drinks yet, which would've been apparent to anyone paying attention. The food and drink came out at a decent time, and she checked on us regularly after that. Overall, the food is great, the servers I can't really blame for having a lack of management or support staff on the floor. They were moving as fast as they could, especially the guy with the beard who was on the floor by himself when we first got there. By the time we got done, lunch rush was over and suddenly a busboy was seen and either two other servers or perhaps a member of management? Either way, help your servers out and get more people on the floor.

I will be coming back for the DEEP FRIED OLIVES stuffed with CHEESE. Sorry, the excitement of three of my favorite things being combined into one caused me to shout a little. I will be coming back for the $3 glasses of house red. Kept the shouting barely under control this time. I will be coming back for the ability to get a patio seat on a beautiful Portland summer evening with zero wait time. I will let out a little WOOHOO! for this one. I will be coming back because this place is like a 4-block stumble home. I will be coming back because of the outdoor fire pit. Toasty! The atmosphere is a little weird here. You won't feel like you're on Alberta Street. It's all a little too industrial and clean and uncrowded and unfinished. The wait staff were constantly stopping by on my two visits - take that as a plus or a minus. However, the eats and drinks aren't overpriced, you won't have to wait for a table, and did I mention the olives?

Cool atmosphere however the food prices are way to much for the quality, I gave them a second chance and I was less than impressed.

The space is awesome, catching a sunset in the summer on the top deck while enjoying a nice micro beer or huddling around the fire pit on cold nights are always fun. That being said though, the food and drinks are standard to poorish for way too much money. Bar food prices should not reach the double digits. I guess that means that happy hour is the best time to grab some snacks, as the prices are more reasonable.

I'm sorry. But going on the overall vibe/scene on Saturday night, I was just not feeling it. It felt like PF Chang's trying to be a bar trying to be a "vintage" restaurant (look! A stock photo of Dean Martin!)--all decorated by Pier 1 Imports and wrapped in an industrial clean bow. This sounds bitchy, and it is. But let me just say the people sitting across from me were all wearing matching aquamarine polos and macking on a serious cougar, also dressed in an aquamarine polo. Our drinks were okay. The server was really chipper and was trying to be really nice. The fire pit kind of kept me warm? I dunno, I just felt very uncomfortable and like I was in a weird strip mall dream--but on Alberta? Why am I using so many question marks? If you like concrete, go for it!

After driving by about 100 times, my wife and I finally had a chance to drop in and have a cocktail and nosh a bit on a diverse and well balanced menu. We were lucky to stop by on their 2 year anniversary so it was an all day happy hour situation, so we had that going for us... Which is nice... Couple things things about the atmosphere, the music was spot on, the dual patios were comfortable, and the bar areas inside were comfy with big booths and low light. Our waitress was really nice and attentive, everything was super reasonable price wise (we actually thought she didnt bill us for everything when we got the check). I'll definitely visit again...

There are a lot of definitions of gentrification, but in the interest of brevity, I'll sum it up as the following sequence: 1. Historically African American neighborhood 2. Hip, bohemian enclave 3. Soulless, corporate wasteland Normally, it's really difficult to pinpoint a specific business or event that caused any part of this progression. You can't really say, "Hey you, white business owner, you're killing this vibrant black community," to any one person. (I've learned that the hard way.) The Radio Room may well be an exception, in representing the end of the gentle descent into phase 2, and the beginning of the free-fall towards phase 3. The Radio Room is a great-looking place, with multiple levels, tons of outdoor seating and lots of space. It had no trouble luring this Alberta art-walker in on a Last Thursday. Plus, friendly service and a very tasty cheeseburger, which my friends unanimously declared was the best burger in town (I thought mine was a bit undercooked). But the post-industrial feel of the place seems better suited to the Pearl. Those words -- "post-industrial" and "Pearl" -- spell doom for the future of this hip, bohemian enclave. The success of a place like this will inform every corporate market researcher who was ever squeamish about setting up shop there. It's as if the Radio Room is saying, "High-end corporate restaurant/megastore, meet Alberta." Don't get me wrong, I like the place. They're running a fine business. But soon, Alberta will finally, and irrevocably, lose any trace of its soul.

I really want to like the radio room especially since it is a block from my house but I just can't do it. They do have a decent happy hour; however I feel the food outside of that is overpriced and disappointing. Every time i go in there for dinner and drinks i leave disappointed and wishing i would have gone some where else for the price.

Love the atmosphere! The outdoor fire is great even in winter. There's always some group of friends hanging out playing a game having a good time. And, the piece de resistance is the hot chocolate/cocoa. Absolutely divine. I would dare say the best I have ever experienced. Try it - you'll like it!

Radio Room is probably my favorite place for a drink on Alberta. Let's start with the bloody mary bar on Sunday with high end DIY fixin's and an army of hot sauce options. I've never been disappointed with their cocktails and they mix up their local beer selection pretty regularly. Their menu is solid and I really love their kale caesar and fried brussel sprouts. Plus the kitchen is open late. The patio space is inviting especially with the fire pit and over all lay out. It never seems to get too noisy to function even when its packed.

I never really knew that portlandians like to eat out for breakfast. We literally drove an hour around to find a place to eat. I had given up on yelp. I called many places on different sides of town to ask if there was a wait. An hour and a Half long. It got to the point where I just asked how long the wait was. And they were all over an hour long. EVERY single place had a line out the door. Finally we stumbled upon this place. No line, NO WAIT! We were even told that we could sit wherever we wanted and we will be helped We sat inside because it was scorching out already all the way in the corner. And could you believe, we were helped within 5 minutes of sitting down? How did they know we were here? Amazing customer service. On top of that, our server was so nice and so helpful! I ordered the breakfast burrito. I wasn't expecting much. Being a Californian, I've had a million different breakfast burritos. Holy moly! Never had anything like it. It was so filling and so tasty. I was afraid it wouldn't be enough! If you frequent my reviews, you know I hate soggy wet burritos. And they were smart enough to put the pico de gallo on the side! Whaaat?!?! They also had this mayo green looking cream aioli on the side. I didn't know what it was but it was so good! This was also the first time I ever had the aardvark hot sauce. And I loved it so much, I went to the grocery store just to buy it! The best spicy hot sauce I've ever had. My bf ordered the French toast, with bacon and eggs on the side. Yum yum yum! Perfectly cooked, crisp, unburnt bacon. Nice fluffy egg and the toast was crisp and soft. Nothing to complain about here! There should be a line out the door.

Not at all welcoming, glared at by staff and patrons. Never greeted, walked out after 10 minutes of being ignored. Update, was sent an apology by management. Very kind sentiments. Although we have left portland our daughter will visit radio room soon and we will update with her review.

BEFORE: I've frequented Radio Room many times, drunkenly (ok maybe just sightly tipsy) after nights out during Last Thursday's on Alberta strictly for the environment, but never for the food. Why not the food, you ask? Because. The food was basic, the menu was boring and the drinks were blah! That was then.. NOW: I returned most recently (beginning of this year-2015) and they done switched it up on yo' girl! Woot woot! Their dinner, brunch, lunch, and drink menu are uhhhhh-mazing now! Everything on it is so dang good. Seriously, try it ALL! My taste buds don't lie. Radio Room.. my stomach & I thank you for making the change. We are now pleased & applaud you for switching it up and for firing whoever the last cook was that used to work there. We will now sing & munch out loud in joy of all your deliciousness!

There's indoor seating, pseudo-outdoor seating and outdoor upper deck seating. The pseudo-outdoor seating is nice because it's almost like outdoor seating with a nice fire pit, but there are plastic shields that protect you from wind and rain. The outdoor upper deck seating would be nice on a sunny warm day, but probably not the best choice if it's cold and rainy. The happy hour is pretty good here. I ended up getting a burger and their signature tomato soup. The soup I thought was too heavily laced with cheese so it turned out to be really creamy and heavy tasting. Don't get me wrong, it was pretty good, but hard to finish. The burger seemed even lighter than the soup. The burger was also pretty decent. It's a nicer hangout bar that is kinda loud, but what do you expect from a bar? The ambiance and service isn't bad. I wouldn't mind coming back here. Not a bad place to meet up and hang out with some friends, but there wasn't anything that stood out to me that distinguished this place from any other hangout bar. Maybe the psuedo-outdoor fire pit seating...that was a nice touch.

Ah-Maze-ING!!!! My mother in law, husband, and I met up here for some lunch and we were not disappointed. It has kind of a funky vibe. There are about three different eating areas, depending on how you are feeling at the time. I had their Market Fresh Fish Tacos. They were divine! I'll definitely be back- it looks like they have a great Saturday and Sunday brunch menu. Sign me up!

My boyfriend will forever hold a grudge towards Radio Room. He ordered an Upright #4 saison and we both tasted it, "My? This tastes an awful lot like cider...". So he kindly waived the waitress passing by down and remarked to her, "I'm sorry, but this tastes a lot like an apple cider? I don't think it's a saison". Hilariously, she relayed to him - "because it's a saison, you're going to get a lot of those light apple notes". Hey, guess what? We've had Upright a dozen times. Someone poured him an apple cider, not a saison... and instead of offering him a sample of the Upright or to replace the 'beer' with what it was supposed to be, we got a lame excuse on how a saison should taste. So she essentially blew him off and then she walked away. Sigh. So yeah. A saison does not taste like a cider. If it does, it's an awful saison. So once we got home, my boyfriend literally couldn't sleep that night because he was so frustrated by the service. (He's mildly convinced they did it to fuck with him and they've done it to mess with other people too for fun - conspiracy?) But that's him. We've been twice and both times I've gotten the breakfast burrito. It's awesome, but I think it's pushing $10.00 so I'll admit it's a little overpriced (but obviously it hasn't bothered me enough to *not* order it). So expect a decent time and pretty good food, just be careful that what you order isn't quite what it seems!

This is a solid spot! I love coming here for drinks and maybe snacks - their outdoor space is awesome and I love getting a spot up on the top patio if I can. I came here for brunch recently and my bloody mary was spicy and delicious. The food was pretty good - not Tin Shed level delicious but no wait and got a great patio spot. Great fire pits for beers and conversation with friends!

Not bad, not bad. Don't like waiting for brunch? Willing to sacrifice the "wow" factor of your meal? This is normally the case when you're hungover and can't handle waiting for 90 minutes at Tin Shed with all those kids and dogs. Kids. Dogs. Kill me. Head to Radio Room instead. The layout of this joint feels like something out of Los Angeles. Boxy, L-shaped, partial rooftop. It's nice sitting up there and your smoker friends can even light up. Yep, apparently you can still do that. Radio Room is the last of its kind. They offer a simple menu of your standard American cuisine. Eggs Benedict and a bloody. There you go, nothing too special, nice n' easy. If you wake up and you need brunch and you need it now, give RR a whirl. We call this an A-OK.

The Radio Room is a very hit or miss kind of place for me. Sometimes I go there and have an amazing time as well as amazing service. Other times I go and leave feeling the service was lacking. The service our group receive this evening was just great. Our server stopped to check in on us just the right amount of times and kept everybody's drinks full. I ordered a hard cider to sip on and snacked on the Brussels sprouts. Holly crap were they to die for! (roasted and topped with red chile flakes and asiago cheese). This place can be a great place for larger groups and they also have outdoor seating and a fire pit for nights that are on the cooler side. I think I would frequent this bar a bit more if the service was consistently awesome.

Came here for a quick drink because it was the closest bar to where we found parking, and, well, we were in a hurry. The interior is done up in typical diner style, with some fun retro music to accompany it. At 9PM on a Saturday it wasn't hopping, but it was by no means empty. My friend and I grabbed two seats at the bar and were greeted at once, but we couldn't get our drink orders in until about 10 minutes after. This was the most disappointing part of our experience, because the staff were all really friendly when we did manage to get their attention. The tap selection is decent--basically all Oregon and Washington staples--and reasonably priced. I also wanted to get some coffee to go because I had a long drive ahead of me, and they were happy to oblige on that front as well. I didn't get any food so I can't comment on that, but overall Radio Room seemed like a good, chill place to catch up with some friends over a beer or two.

One of my favorite bars in Portland. Both the food and drink menus are great, but what appeals to me most is the atmosphere. It's definitely got one of Portland's best outdoor patios, and I love that you can go upstairs. This place is really fun when it's busy and bustling on weekend nights, but my friend also hosted a charity Bingo event here and it was the perfect space for it. I also highly, highly recommend going here for brunch. I just recently discovered a love for lox and the Lox on the Run was excellent. During happy hour or dinner, go for the brussel sprouts - drooooool. Give this place a try!

Loved the margherita grilled cheese! It's so delicious I've not been able to bring myself to try anything else when I go there. I love that they leave large jars of cold water on the table so that you can refill as needed and not be bothered by constant questions. Parking is horrible, but that's to be expected on Alberta, so can't really blame the restaurant. Staff is very friendly and not overly attentive, which I like. I haven't been seated in the bar or outside yet, but those areas look nice. Nice, open spaces and clean bathroom. Food and service are good. All in all, I'd give it a 7 out of 10. Would definitely recommend!

The food is just fine, I most recently tried the Booker T and it was great... it didn't feel like I was eating breakfast for lunch. An excellent dish all the way around. Whatever I order, it's always hot and freshly made. The big problem is the service, or lack thereof. It is so dodgy... like playing waitstaff roulette. You never know who you're going to get or what mood they are going to be in. My friend put it best when she said, "If we are going to have a private conversation, we should eat at Radio Room because they always leave you alone". Nuff said.

Opens early, stays open late. Panda approves this idea. Bottomless coffee for $2.50 so that I can be jittery all day and fit more stuff into my schedule. Full bar also available, definitely a treat if you arrive late at night. When I visited last month, Radio Room had green chile on the menu for certain dishes. Green Chile Poutine ($8) is basically a Breakfast-New Mexican version of the Canadian dish. Sausage gravy, real bacon bits, and a poached egg with roasted green chile, tomatillo salsa, fries, and cheese curds. I loved the sausage gravy. Most of the green chile was hiding under the poached egg, but the panda is not easily fooled. I wish places in the U.S. did not skimp on the cheese curds. Maybe 4-5 curds total in this medium-sized bowl of fries. Secret Aardvark habanero sauce found here. Woohoo! Great service. My coffee stayed filled and never went below 1/3 of a cup remaining.

I almost don't want to write this post bc it's one of the few places that doesn't have a line for brunch but also delicious and a great atmosphere. We were there on Easter, with no trouble finding a table for 3. We had delicious mimosas/ "manmossas," and coffee to drink. Our super-nice and attentive waitress suggested beignets, and -wow. They were great! The food was yummy and an amount that one could finish without pain. I've been to Radio Room multiple times and it doesn't disappoint!

This place was excellent. Open late, even on a Sunday. We enjoyed beers on the top deck in front of a fireplace. I was there really late on a Sunday but I imagine the place would be smashing during peak hours and especially with live music. I will definitely stop by again.

Had dinner there last week Friday, 8/28/15. The food was good with generous servings, with me missing home a bit I had the pulled pork tostadas (closest thing to Kalua pig) with a side salad... it was definitely filling! It was rather dark, couldn't see the menu that well...thank heavens for the mini flashlight from our phones! Our waitress Lizzie was awesome... Radio Room, Lizzie is an asset to your establishment. She made of feel welcome and she was on it with our order, such amazing service!

I just love their upper deck!! Food is ok (they don't seem to have many options for people with food allergies) It has honestly changed since back in the day when it was more on the divey side now it seems more on the family side. They seem way more busy these days too. Good for the business not necessarily for the customer.

I wanted to try a new brunch place, and landed upon this one! Love the setup of the restaurant. Downstairs with a balcony upstairs where you can smoke or have q cold one on a beautiful day. The group of five I went with all enjoyed their meals, food tastes like a home cooked meal!

During the summer I went on an up north trip to Washington and made a pit stop in Portland. Luckily I had a friend in the area who knew some cool spot and she brought me to this gem. I instantly loved the vibe upon setting foot on the property and the surrounding area only exemplified the feel of the bar. They have a nice roof top seating area that I really enjoyed and got a nice view of the sunset. They had a good beer selection, I ordered a beer but cannot remember what it was called. All I know is that it started with an F or had the letter F somewhere in it or maybe the word/name frank, but that aside it was extremely delicious. I didn't eat much but if everything on the menu is on par with the "white truffle frites" then I'm sold. It might be the road trip jitters as to why I was blown away by this place, but who cares, it was awesome. Bye

They serve brunch all day. Enough said. I ordered the biscuits and gravy (for dinner) - they give you a choice of sausage or vegetarian gravy. I consider myself a very seasoned eater of biscuits and gravy and these might have been the best I've had in Portland! It was delicious and not too heavy. My friend got the kale, apple, bacon salad which was really good, but she was wishing the whole time that there was more apple to balance out the copious amounts of bacon and ranch in the salad. We also got the DELICIOUS parmesan fries because we could smell that someone else had them as soon as we walked in. Our waitress was very friendly and pleasant - a nice change for the typical Alberta St. arrogance. The covered area with the fire pit was nice too for drinks after dinner. I will definitely be making a return visit to this spot!

I went here for breakfast with a friend because the wait was long for Tin Shed. Really..I could have waited for that place. I'm a vegetarian..and really this didn't cater to that really. The service was very good and the coffee was good. I just wasn't impressed with the breakfast options. I wouldn't go back unless of not of my own accord...sorry. Options weren't good at all....yuck...and the one I did get that was vegetarian was mediocre. The brussel sprouts were tough and not like they should be. I was disappointed in all except the service and coffee...ah well. had to try it at least once!

Had a huge wait for Mother's Day at Tin shed, couldn't wait and drop in here. Service was a bit slow since we seated upstairs, but food was really good. Had vegan hash, became my favorite, and grilled tacos, egg and bacon sandwich. Good and cheap breakfast and brunch spot! Only one complain I had was they allowed people to smoke there... For that reason, my eating three. Other than that, I will go back again.

I love to work from this place. Servers friendly, very good drinks, excellent burgers and they even have some healthy shit that actually tastes good (fried Brussels Sprouts). AND you can even go to the upstairs patio and smoke a big fat cigar. They also put ice in the urinals because classy.

  • Hey U.

For drinks, good spot. Good bar, happy with staff for the most part(person who seated us was a little smug when we changed tables to the fire pit area....I can understand why I mean we sat for 30 seconds...huge inconvenience for you to move that water bottle. What do expect, Portland service ind...) Food, meh. App - fries, pretty good. Not the best white truffle fries I've had but ok. Grilled cheese - good but a couple issues. Too much pesto. Bead was super crusty and hard so maybe not the best choice for this sandwich. Tomato soup tasted pre-made and was room temperature. Blue cheese burger - so I missed that it was blue cheese dressing and no actual cheese on there. Soggy, also store bought dressing with little blue cheese flavor. This is a bust at a burger, just not tastey. Bun and burger were fine. I ate but nothing to write home about. Skip the food and stick to the drinks!

This is the cutest bar. It has indoor and outdoor seating with thoughtful decor. I wish the dining experience matched the ambience. We ordered an appetizer that never arrived which they kindly took off out bill. I ordered a beer in a can because they only had one cider option on draft and the can was dirty. I ordered a glass, but that kind of turned my stomach. I got the chicken wings which were supposed to be BBQ but they were rather dry with a sweet medium type wing sauce. The ranch was a buttermilk dill which was excellent. The side salad I also ordered with the ranch and it was a lot of leafy type greens with a few pickled veggies. Nothing too exciting. Overall I think the menu still needs some major TLC but the bar is a lot of fun.

So if you don't want to wait for breakfast --- because Portland is super ridiculous about this, the go ahead and come here. I used to like it a lot more but the past two times have been super meh. First .... The Brussels sprouts. This is a delicious vegetable that deserves the proper care and prep. CUT OFF the stems. Please. It's simple. Also .... It needs to be cooked enough so that I don't have to use a steak knife to cut it. Please. On a better note, the corned beef hash was good --- the meat was super yummy and tender but every single vegetable was really undercooked. And coffee. $2.75. Come on now. There's a plethora of places to eat in this part of town so I'll more than likely go somewhere else next time.

Came here for a late breakfast during a cold snap in Portland. I was able to bring my dog on the upstairs patio that is mostly enclosed. They turned on the wood burning fireplace for us which was lovely. The artwork is really nice too up there. I ordered the Shamble Sandwich off the Almost Never Ending Brunch Menu, it was AMAZING. I don't know what that sauce was on it, but I could've just had a cup of that and some crackers and been good! The home fries were seasoned really nicely and went well with the Aardvark sauce. The only psuedo-complaint I have is that the bread on the sandwich was SO buttery, toasty, crunchy and crispy that it cut my lip a little! Maybe the crispiness and the fact I inhaled it lol. Overall, a great place! I wish I lived in Portland so I could come here more often.

i am updating my review giving an additional star and will give this place another try. I received a message from Sarah Betteridge their G.M. and she showed some sincere concern regarding my unpleasant dining experience. I appreciate her asking and will complete this review when the next time I go back.

Pint sized mimosas in a perfectly Portland brunch spot. Our go-to breakfast, we've never even been there after sundown. But we almost always get a table right away, use their wifi, eat laugh work chill there and have never been rushed. Firepit outside for the smokers. Bloody Mary DIY garnish bar. Solid meaty cheesy food and solid vegan locally sourced sustainable curated etc etc etc for those who require that in their Portland foods.

Went to Radio Room to meet up with friends for New Years Brunch. I didn't read the reviews before we went but having so now.. Why would anyone go to a place that is hit or miss!? This was definitely a MISS for me as well as the 4 people at our table. We ordered drinks. The bloody Mary was sent back the first time because it was just tomato juice and returned to us equally unappealing. It did have bits in it this time but lacked any love or understanding of what a good Bloody Mary should be. I was left waving my coffee cup in the direction of our apathetic waitress for over 15 minutes. Not to mention that we arrived at 10:45, seated around 11:00 even though there were many open table/booths to be had. Our order was taken somewhere near 11:20 and food arrived some 45 minutes to an hour later. Time enough for me to wave that coffee cup around a few more times and beg for coffee, from staff who maybe weren't staff? I don't know I couldn't tell who was working and what their roll was at all. I heard there was a hostess but who she was still remains a mystery to this day. Food finally arrives and what was probably the MOST easiest of meals, the "classic rocker" breakfast was a sad plate of under cooked "over easy" eggs, bacon so hard it was concrete and potatoes dry and lifeless. ah .. thanks?! My first thought was.. toast! why would you serve a classic breakfast with no toast. I didn't look when I ordered and was afraid to order any now as my meal would be long over before it came. ( so sayth my short lived history with them). So I used my concrete bacon as a scoop of sorts, begged my potatoes to sop up the under cooked eggs and tried to enjoy some fantastic conversations. Thank god for good conversations! Overall, breakfast seems not to be their forte. I can see how this would be a hipster working pub/cafe but the only way I would come back is if I were meeting up with friends for a beer and had no expectations of food or service. It's got great bones, the building is awesome and I am sure there is a crowd that loves this place. Too many other choices in Portland, no one has to live with this kind of apathy toward food or customers.

Nice outside balcony and cheap drinks in a nice area on the outskirts of Portland!

Never coming back here. The drinks were very slow to come out (~10 minutes for beers and a martini) and watered down. When we sent it back to the bar they said "it sat in the martini shaker too long." Then when the check comes they wanted to charge us for two drinks! The waitress had a horrible attitude. She was defensive, argumentative, and unhelpful. AVOID

Oh Radio Room...what has happened to you?! I used to rate you 5 stars and made you my go to brunch spot...but lately, it's been a nose dive. They used to have an amazing brunch menu, but then they changed it a few times and gotten rid of all my favorite things. It's now just a lot of meh...unexciting options. The food is not great and the service has gone downhill. Our last trip there, our waitress straight up forgot to put our order in and it ended up being a crazy long wait for meh food. RIP beloved brunch spot.

Well, what can I say about a place that has an old bingo sign hanging on the wall and an old cigarette machine turned into a local art vending machine in the entryway? What about the coffee bar right in the middle of the place, and the rooftop patio? I love this place and it's what I love about this city. The happy hour grass fed Kobe style burger and truffle fries were awesome too. The only reason why I didn't rate it a 5 is that the fries were a little too greasy. Highly recommended for some good food and a cool hangout.

I go here for brunch. And the food is good, perhaps even really good. But the food is of lesser consequence to me, and here's why: BUILD YOUR OWN BLOODY MARY BAR. It has everything you need, want, could possibly dream up. And it is brilliant.

Big fan of this corner spot in NE Portland. Great vibe, good stiff drinks (hey it rains a lot there!) I sat at the bar during a solo trip to Portland and headed right out of downtown to NE Alberta. What's not to love on that street? Hey meat eaters - this is one place you want to ditch the burger and grab their grilled cheese with balsamic and a cup of GREAT roasted tomato soup! I visited this pub three times in my one week visit because it was friendly, accessible and I knew I could get a great and budget friendly meal/drink.

I'm updating my review again. I think you really get to know a place when you go there once a month. Sadly, if I were to assign one word to Radio Room, it would be "inconsistent." Dishes you have one month can be completely different the next month and something you love can be later made inedible. I've talked before about their ever changing beet salad and that's as bad as ever, but their Brussels Scramble can go from a plate of Brussels with a tiny bit of eggs to 3 Brussels and a bunch of eggs. Sadly, their service is just as hit or miss. I realize that I am always there in a large group, so I am not talking about slow service as I kind of figure that might happen if I'm with 12 people. The other night a waitress kept holding hot plates of food over people's head. This is not ok. Apparently me leaning all the way into my friend's lap wasn't a good enough hint. One thing that does seem to be consistent is their continual over salting of french fries and breakfast potatoes (and I'm a complete salt fiend, I probably put more salt on my food than 95% of the population).

I don't really understand the low reviews on this one. I'm left scratching my head. I don't get it, but anyhoo on to my experience at Radio Room... It wasn't too busy of a night and we were able to find a seat right away. We ordered a couple whiskey and gingers to start the night then ordered a few snacks---we got the pork taco special, risotto patties and poutine. The tacos were delicious! Flavored and spiced perfectly and I LOVED the pickled onions. Yum! The risotto patties were interesting but the sauce that came with it was really good. If you like risotto, you won't go wrong. The poutine was by far my favorite. The gravy was spot on, my only complaint? I hate when my fires get soggy which in unavoidable on this one-so eat fast and enjoy. The service was quick and our server was funny and talkative. I can't wait to come back and check out that upstairs patio this summer.

I feel like I finally get this place. More times than not, it's a chill vibe where you can choose from a ton of drink options and pretty good food. What keeps me coming back is the fire place. I don't even care about hogging the fire. It's a cool layout too, with several different areas so you can certainly mosey around to find a good spot. I don't think I've ever seen this place too busy either, which can be great if that's what you're looking for.

This place could be really amazing if the service wasn't so consistently shitty. The space is awesome, so I continue to come back for sunny days on the patio or late night bon fires. I know that if I want that sunny spot or place by the fire I will have to tolerate almost unbearable service. Sometimes I do, and sometimes I just don't have it in me. Too bad, I could really get down on this place, but the service ruins the experience for me every time.

Completely opens up! Great balcony and patio with table service in all areas. Weekend brunch is delicious and the wait if any, is quick for seating. The happy hour menu is all quality with my favorites being mac and cheese and margherita grilled cheese. They have many adult beverages to choose from including a great mimosa menu. It's great place for groups and a hot spot for the monthly Alberta street fair.

Just stopped in for a drink. Staff was friendly and happened to be from the same home town. Got the Bloody Mary. To be fair we were warned it was spicy but really it was like drinking hot sauce. 3 for now for friendliness.

No wait when I went at about 2pm on a Monday! :) Tried the brussels sprouts dish, it was excellent. Teensy bit spicy for those of you who are spice-challenged like me. Cooled off by the delicious aioli. What doesn't taste better dipped in aioli?? The best thing I ate though was the To' Boy Sandwich. Crunchy tempeh, mushrooms, tons of tomatoes and cucumbers... it was vegan, and it was delicious!!! I definitely recommend that to all, vegan or omnivore. Lots of cool places to sit and hang out, and each is a bit separate so the restaurant seems smaller than it actually is. Fire pit! Oh, and the Art-O-Matic machine or whatever it's called...is awesome!! I got the cutest olive key ring out of it... give it a whirl!

I really like Radio Room. It's spaced out and large so you're not shoulder to shoulder with other people. I've been here three times, and each time, the drinks were amazing. I also like that they don't crank the music so loud that you can't talk. That's a deal-breaker for me. They're always busy for a reason. Their food is very good too. I'd definitely come back.

Stopped in on a whim for Sunday brunch. It's a little grungy mixed with a bit of modern-cool. The food took awhile but it was worth the wait. Pint size mimosas? Perfect. PT Sandwich & Challah French Toast? Divine.

I could not be happier that I went into Radio Room last Thursday, which happened to be The Last Thursday. It was a great place to finish our night with some awesome food, cold drinks, and happy hour prices! I had the To' boy Sandwich, which was delicious and necessary after 5ish hours of drunkenly wandering around Alberta attempting to avoid buying someone's old jewelry, or stolen watches. The service was great, especially since the drunken wandering became drunken running, which became three bloody scrapes that were tenderly cared for by our awesome server. He might have just been avoiding cross-contamination, but I like to think this is a perfect example of the top notch service you will get at Radio Room.

Went here for dinner with friends on a friday. Got the Half'hen, which for the price was very little food. Also the hen was extremely oily and so was the cornbread. Expected better food from a place on Alberta.

Not impressed. Decent drink selection & prices. Service tonight was awful! We sat downstairs at a table close to the fire-pit. The place wasn't even busy and it took us 20 mins just to get the waitress to bring us the tab (for 2 beers) - after yelling to get her attention! It felt like we were being ignored. To top it off, there were 2 guys smoking right next to our table & there are 'no smoking' signs posted all over. Apparently this rule isn't enforced because no one said anything to them. Talk about a buzzkill... Pros: good location, nice outdoor seating, upstairs has additional seating.

When I come here late at night, I like the Radio Room. Brad the bartender is friendly and gives great service, and the burger is fantastic, made to order. Table service during the day is the exact opposite. Servers openly text while ignoring their tables. The burger is almost too dry to eat: ordered medium, received it well done, without enough aioli. I don't recommend coming here during the day.

  • Jack S.

I keep going back - love the atmosphere, love the blood orange mimosas - but why oh why can't the kitchen figure out how to get the food out hot to your table? I haven't been here in months, and today regretted picking it even though our waitress was excellent. You'd think I would learn my lesson, but I don't. So despite the good taste of the Boss Hogg benedict, that gets lost when the potatoes are barely warm, the English muffin is cold, and the sauce is cold. And why don't you serve toast with other breakfast meals? Ugh...can you just work on that? Please?

This is a little awkward because I'm still sitting here... gotta say this morning was great and it was thanks to Cherokee. We rolled in a little bit out of sorts (not morning people) and were not sure about the bloody mary bar.... Blah blah blah! Thank you!

We went for happy hour and sat upstairs. That view in the sunshine is worth at least one star. We split the White Truffle Frites, Johnny Royale Burger, and the Market Fish Tacos. The fries were great! You could taste the full flavor of the truffle oil. Of the other two main dishes, the burger was the clear winner. The arugula was paired perfectly with the Tillamook white cheddar. It was crisp and clean mixed with all the gooey cheese. Cooked to perfection; I wish I had had my own. Both my friend and I were greatly disappointed by the fish tacos. The tuna lacked flavor but the slaw was good. Didn't care for it so I willingly gave the third & last taco to my friend. Especially disappointing when you realize that the tacos were $2 more than the burger. Not worth it in any way. For drinks I had the St. Andrews and Upper Deck Lemonade. I adored the ginger and cucumber flavors. It mixed well with gin and you could tell there was a good amount of alcohol in the pint glass. The Upper Deck Lemonade was great as well. Perfectly refreshing on a hot evening! It wasn't crowded at all despite the sunshine. I don't know why more people aren't flocking to this patio. Would have given this place five stars except for the tacos. They deserve to be re-vamped or removed.

I am a big fan of the Radio Room, for a bunch or reasons. I usually come here by myself to get work done, because I work from home, but I hate working in my house. Radio Room's atmosphere is great for this - there are plenty of power outlets, they have a full coffee bar, and the wifi is fast and free. The food is good, not amazing, but consistently good. They make a wide variety of good cocktails, which I appreciate. I also love that they are one of the only places around that's open till 2am every day. They also take AmEx, which is rare for the area.

One of my favorite late night spots. Great happy hour food after 11pm. It's got so many different areas to hang out that there can be a party on the roof and a nice quiet corner in the cafe at the same time.

I want to like this place. I used to go there a lot. Last time I went was about 6 months ago. We got there at 2:50pm wanting to get some brunch only to be told that they had stopped serving brunch. ????? We went there again yesterday. Same time, 2:48pm same story. We have stopped serving brunch blah blah blah. Well geez if you guys stop taking orders for brunch at 2:45pm. CHANGE THE TIME ON YOUR MENU. Serving brunch until 2:45. I own a restaurant and I can figure it out. When I get to the Heathman at 2:50 they can figure it out, just like ALL the other places we go to to eat. Radio room, FAIL, Goodbye Boss Hog, maybe it's time for me to add it to MY menu seeing as I do not eat at the Radio Room any more, sigh :-/

I received the nicest note from Sarah B, the manager at Radio Room, apologizing for my experience there last week. I decided to update to three starsdue to that apology in this update and the fact that she had spoken to her staff about better customer service. I think it takes a big person to admit things were not as good as they could have been and not blow off my review, and I was impressed by the contact and kindness and sincerity expressed in the note. Because Sarah went above and beyond, it reinforces my feeling that I do plan to go back and try again, update my review hopefully with more stars, and I also plan to introduce myself to Sarah. I'm sure it will be a very pleasant chat with her.

I'd been here several times over a year ago and remember liking the place. I'd had some really good burgers here. A recent trip back was pretty awesome. Very nice atmosphere, everything clean, very friendly staff and cool tunes playing. A couple Irish Car Bombs and some very tasty appetizers went down smooth. A favorite bar location for me in the Alberta Arts district. Will definitely return soon.

Good God. First off get ur service problem in check. I have now been here at least 5 times and the disabled service shenanigans is the main reason I always hesitate to come back. It must be the fact that the food is great and the drinks are even better that I keep coming back. Breakfast specials like bagel & lox, challah French toast, blue corn cakes, various bennies, and a ton of scramble options keeps the breakfast here interesting. The lunch menu boasts burgers, salads, sammies, and soups. The food here is really good. I think most of the menu options will keep the customers coming back. The place is huge and the upstairs outside patio is super sweet. Summer time margaritas go hand in hand with this little spot for me. Pair it with a tasty steak salad and I'm good for a bit.

The staff is great and service is as well. We have been going here for about a year now off and on every week or so. We miss the old wings that were a great late night filler. The new wings are dry and greasy and taste like crap. Please bring the old wings back. The new head chef must have a ego and can't see that the old wings Dominate the new ones.

We, being my wife and my sister-in-law and I went to the radio room Tuesday evening for their beer/whiskey food pairing party. We had a blast the food was awesome the beer and whiskey whiskey were good and the company was great. Let me back up to Father's Day of 2013 we originally intended to go to a restaurant down the street and I noticed the radio room on the way it as we approached the other restaurant the line was wrapped around the building unfortunately it had just been on triple D and was swamped. I told my wife were going to bag this let's go back down to that little place down the street called the radio room. we didnt regret anything. the food was awesome the atmosphere was awesome great prices family attitude and atmosphere and then there's upstairs patio....amazing. We did finally end up going to the place further east on Alberta but it wasn't anything special especially all the hype that was around it Oh well. We were treated very well almost like royalty Tuesday evening with their pairing party there was some guy in a kilt talking about all the scotch and another guy who looked....like a beer maker talking about all the beer then we got to meet Eric the chef Grace the hostess for the evening, Sarah and Mary I'm not sure of their affiliation with the restaurant but all we're very very nice people. We are definitely planning on going back again and again as they're very prolific on Twitter about their weekly meal specials. Truly a Portland hidden gem.

This is a great place. Great food, great beers or drinks. The power went out while my date and I were there, and the staff was great. I would give it 5 stars, but it took about 20-25 mins to get a server, but the power was out for about 5-8 mins of that. I will be coming back and since they have aardvark sauce, I will recommend this place. Haha Radio room is a great chill place for friends or dates. Staff and food is amazing.

I don't rate service, ambiance, cleanliness and wait times; they are too variable. I can put up with anything if the food is good. It is all about the food- that's it. All of my ratings are based on vegan options only. Notes: The dish had potential. The flavor was there, but the brussels sprouts were scorched, barely edible, and I was still starving after the meal. Their portions are very small. I actually ordered toast after the meal to fill myself up. Even then, I was still hungry.

Had a birthday party planned and needed a place to have it. Radio room was the perfect spot. Reserved a small part of the dining room for 25 people, for NO FEE and no Minimums. Dave took care of us and some how kept all the checks separate. The food is great and drinks tasty. Great place to also just hang out on the deck in the summer.

I have been to Radio Room more than 5 times. Usually the service is good, always the drinks are great and mostly the food is great. On the rare occasion the service is just okay. Today, we walked in, were directed to choose a place to sit, found a clean table and got comfortable. When the waitress came, she looked confused and mumbled something about there being another person here before. In from the patio came a man, who understood what happened and said he would sit at a bigger booth. When that was happening, we caught on and apologizes and moved to the free booth. The waitress came, took our orders, delivered food and things seemed fine, until we asked for more coffee and then the check. We ended up walking to the register and waited until the waitress, Dean was clued in to the fact that we were ready, now. She sauntered up to the counter with attitude. Rushes through the process wordless and with an air of annoyance. In general, the table mix up was a misunderstanding that we were treated poorly for. Having to ask for one refill for coffee isn't something I am used to having to. Most places bug me with the umpteen offers for a refill or top off. Asking for the check after an hour feels uneasy. Having to go to the register because we caught on the that we weren't going to see Dean again for 10-15 minutes, is unacceptable. This experience will keep me out of Radio Room for a while. Left a bad taste in my mouth.

R - Rad spot A - A-OK joint D - Definitely check this place out I - Impressive service O - Oh me, oh my lot's of beers to try! R - Rooms are dimly lit O - Oh look, there's a fire pit outside! O - Open air patio up the stairs! M - Much fun to be had here I have passed Radio Room time and time again on Alberta and finally came in to grab a drink or two. Can't say that I have tried out the food yet but it did all look and smell fantastic! This place is dark....it was actually hard to find my crowd until my eyes adjusted. Very cool fire pit outside and the patio is a nice touch especially during the summer months. The staff here is great and super friendly. They have lots of great beers to choose from! Would certainly recommend this place for a Happy Hour, casual date night, or just a fun low key hang out with friends.

On a visit last weekend to Portland, our first visit was Radio Room on Alberta. My friend and I were hungry and a bit tired from our commute down from Seattle. We walked a few blocks down Alberta before taking one look at Radio Room, then each other, then simultaneously said, "Yes." Neither of us had heard of Radio Room, or been there before, but from the design/decor it looked great. We ended up taking a seat on the upstairs deck, a sunny patio with umbrella'ed picnic tables. The place wasn't extremely busy, and we were served right away. My friend and I settled on a couple grilled cheese sandwiches with fries, with HUB's single malt pale ale to wash it down. The sandwiches were perfect, with a delicious blend of cheeses on perfectly toasted bread, and a tasty balsamic reduction artfully drizzled on the plate. They really hit the spot. I've seen a couple negative reviews for Radio Room on here, which I find odd. Maybe I'm just a square from Portland's bigger sister to the north, but I had a downright excellent experience here. I'd love to come back and try a more substantial meal sometime.

Just reviewing the food because I never get drinks here. There was a time, although it feels like aeons ago it was in fact several months ago at most, that Radio Room had the greatest burger on the planet. The first time I tried it, I was hooked. I brought friends here and time and time again, they fell for the spell of the Radio Room burger. All was going well in the world except for our rising body fat percentages, but who cared? We had found the single greatest burger in existence. Then, something horrible happened. We showed up one day and noticed the menu looked a little different. Everything was still there, but after further speculation we realized all of the prices had jumped $2-3. We thought nothing of it and ordered our usual food. The waitress brought out our food and a chilling silence fell over the table. All of the food looked totally different. We took our first bites. This was the moment our lives changed forever. The burgers now consist of enormous, flavorless patties that you can't fit in your mouth, and the exquisite, gourmet buns they used to use have been replaced by gigantic slices of ciabatta bread, so if you don't like ciabatta bread then you are, as they say, SOL. They also removed or changed one of the aioli sauces they used to perfectly smother on one of the buns. The only relief we felt from this treacherous day was when I told our waitress we were expecting the old food and she removed the burgers from our bill. We also heard her approach the head chef on his break at the bar and tell him about how we were upset with the new food, and he replied "Well, they ordered it." Clearly he had missed the point. We returned a few weeks later and I tried another item I had ordered here before the menu change, the mac & cheese. Luckily the food itself was the same, but the portion has shrunk enormously and the price rose at least two dollars. I asked if I could add tomatoes and the waitress said it would be an extra $1.50. I cringed but agreed. What I got, for $11.50, was a bowl of mac & cheese filled about 1/3 full with, yes, I counted: 8 small diced tomato pieces on top. This is not the film Soylent Green where tomatoes are some rare delicacy that cost $7000 per pound. They are tomatoes. The staff is friendly every time, love those guys and girls. But every night I pray to every god in the book that they will switch back to the old burgers. Anyway, to be less dramatic: most of the food here used to be great and less expensive and now most of it is mediocre and overpriced.

I'm surprised this place doesn't have higher reviews! split a burger and mac & cheese with my husband to make for a small meal. they were both delicious! the aioli is a nice touch on the burger. good food, good vibes, and good happy hour prices.

Third time not the charm. Drinks are great. Good has potential but today took the cake. Ordered the boss hog eggs benedict. Came out lukewarm. Sent it back and munched on the bfs mac n cheese and truffle fries. Mac n cheese OK and fries had a great flavor but way too salty for us. My plate comes back. Home fries hot and yummy.... takes bite of eggs benedict and it's COLDER then before I sent it back.... really lazy cooks? Had to get up to go find waitress and then ordered challah French toast (how hard is it to make French Toast right) and 2 strips of bacon. I just love waiting on my food while the rest of my party is done with theirs and ready to go.

Honestly surprised! I've driven by this place SO many times. After an unsuccessful breakfast hunt elsewhere, I slammed on my brakes when I noticed the breakfast sign. The decor is great and kitschy, the service is great, and the food was on point! I like that they had an "all-day" menu with breakfast and lunch options, as I wasn't in the mood for breakfast. Friend had a vegan scramble, that honestly was a little bland (hello, vegan...). I had a stellar sandwich called the Castro. Braised pork, ham, swiss, and house-made pickles. It was killer. The braised pork was super juicy, and fatty. Pickels were excellent. Compared to all of the trendy places on Alberta that have lines around the corner, this place rocked!

I went here for Christmas brunch since they seemed to be the only place open on the street. There was a small line and the servers seemed busy, I sat myself at the bar which was probably against regulations but they didn't say not to. Ordered the truffle tamale $13 and was pretty excited about getting a tamale. What I got was a cornmeal loaf about 1" thick and six inches long (that sounds dirty) with some kind of sauce and mushrooms on top. Which, at least in my experience, does not a tamale make. But it was 13$ and I was starfing and so I ate it. And then felt like shit. The bloody mary was decent, service was good but for the love of baby jesus and santa, try to put some effort into your bloody food.

I've been here a couple different times and I've always gotten the green chile poutine. It always taste excellent and hits the spot. I like the atmosphere to this place. The last time I went, which was a few nights ago, the server who attended to me was very nice and funny. Plus, they're open late even on Sundays. It doesn't get better than this.

Great spot all year round. There is a cute interior and a very well set up patio area with a large lower gas fire and a heated upper patio with a smaller wood fire stove. The food is awesome and I recommend it for all three meals. The beer selection is usually pretty good two. Two bar areas but the main bar is much more of an actual bar feel while the auxiliary bar is more of an overflow stool seating feel. Open late but they will absolutely kick your butt to the curb at closing time.

The Bloody Mary bar is awesome and the venue is nice with the patio and the garage doors that open. Every time I go the food is just bleh, though. I got the Salmon Eggs Benedict and the hollandaise sauce was watery and tasteless and I could barely taste the salmon... Good for drinks, not so much for the food, in my opinion.

We frequent this place on weekends... because it has yet to fail us. I love trying new meals and generally stick to the same beverages. The atmosphere is always inviting, whether slow or busy. Can't wait to go back... haven't been here for dinner so that's my next venture :) Try it out!

This place was fun and sitting up on the roof was great. I was in awesome company which made it even better but our waitress was never around and seemed to not care to much. Other then that it was nice.

If you want coffee done right, get it here. And get cream with it. WAY better than Starbucks or any other coffee shop I've been to lately. I don't know the trick, but it was EXACTLY like having a coffee in Europe. I only had beignettes (basically doughnuts) and coffee after lunching at a different Alberta establishment.

My third review of this place. Second review in just over a week. Rare that I get to a place so many times, but I really do like the Radio Room. On this third visit we had dinner. My friend and I split the Bacon Bleu Burger ($9.50) and Mac N Cheese ($7) which we added spinach to. You need some greens in your life. The Mac was big enough that I ended up taking some home with me and having it for lunch the next day. Why are you reading my review? Just go there for cripes sake.

Happy hour menu includes $3 truffle fries, a salad, $5 fried Brussels sprouts, Mac & cheese, Caesar salad, $6 burger, tempeh sand,$8 fish tacos. Good beer list and full bar. Overall good, though the chicken patty in the chicken burger was rubbery. The tempeh sandwich was well seasoned as we're the French fries.

Delicious, friendly and fun! I love this place! I have eaten there during each meal time and thoroughly enjoyed all the food, service and atmosphere. This is where I like to go for a laid back evening but it's also the place I take all my out of town friends. Well worth it.

Here's the thing about Portland brunch that I find tedious: people only go to the hot places. Which means if you want an exceptional brunch you will wait an hour (I mean, cough, about 20 minutes [they lie]). But if you lower your standards just a bit, and are willing to settle for a really good brunch, you will dig Radio Room. Walk in, have a seat. Except for after the Shamrock Run, I've never dealt with a wait. It's the chill alternative to the super hot brunch place. And it's really good. 5 stars for ease of use 3-4 stars for food (they get the higher rating on principal)

This was out first trip to Portland and we wanted to have brunch on Sunday at one of the more popular places per Yelp. The line was out the door and around the corner of one place so we kept driving and found this gem of a place. We sat on the rooftop and enjoyed the beautiful weather. The food was delicious! I had the breakfast sandwich with avocado added to it. My boyfriend had the corned beef hash. The hash was pretty dry looking but still tasty. My bf's latte was quote, "The best latte I've ever had." There was only one server working the rooftop so getting everything took a while but she was pleasant and attentive. It was a great experience though since we weren't in any rush.

This place was recommended all over Alberta Arts District websites, but it was just ok. Not that I didn't have a good experience, but the food was nothing to go ga ga over. They had a bloody mary bar, but compared to the other food I had eaten in Portland this was just average. The price is right and when you're hungry and every place has line, it's good to walk down a few more blocks to get served right away.

I got the lox on flatbread bread and a blood orange mimosa. Both. We're amazing. I would absolutely come here again, the service was great and the atmosphere was really fun. It was packed and there was trivia goin' on in the main area. Definitely a place you need to try out with your friends!

This place has pretty good food, my favorites on the menu are the "starving artist" which includes soup, bread, and wine. And the beet salad is delicious. Their happy hour prices are very reasonable but their regular menu has a couple pricey plates that aren't quality food. Service is average to slow and the atmosphere is nice. They also have outdoor seating.

I am not sure why this place gets so much hate. This is my 4-5th time coming here, and we always have a good time, get a great server, and have some pretty good food. Last night I had 3 ciders, the mushroom soup and beet salad. Yum! It's super close to my hood, you can watch a game, sit in the bar, sit at a large table in the dining area, or check out the fire pit downstairs and the covered open patio upstairs. Niiiiiiiiiiiiiiice.

There are certain basics of a bar. There are certain basics of a lounge. The lounge has a place where a person can wax lyrically about the mundane or the exotic topics without people jabbing into your conversation. Of course that means the place is loud. That doesn't matter because this place is loud anyway and it has a very good burger. I would like to commend this place in this avocado/bacon with lettuce. It maybe a specialized burger that I don't remember but the taste lingers well in the memory. The waitress was helpful. She came up with the beer/tequila that my friends yearned for. She even plucked out a Heineken. I know that this beer might be generic and utterly basic but her attempt at finding it does get high marks from me. The place does have an outside patio and a severely modern interior. I am versed in the former rather than the latter. The prices are fair and it's a great place to find.

I have to accept that Radio Room will just never get its shit together and stay the hell away from it. Tried to get in today for breakfast, there were two waitresses plus a bartender and we were one of FOUR parties of 2 or 3 that left without being served. There was a sign up sheet but I could see multiple clean and empty tables. It wasn't very busy, two competent waitresses could easily have handled it but these girls were not competent. It's like everyone wanted the Fourth off so they just asked some friends to cover. A few weeks ago I was at the bar and ordered a burger well done. The bartender replied with "Are you sure, the meat's good." Fuck you, just do your job and I'm sure criticizing the people you want money from isn't in the bartender's guide. Not that he was a good bartender. A book could be filled with Radio Room's lapses in basic how-to-run-a-bar stuff It was actually an enjoyable place to visit for a while, but it looks like the grownups got better jobs. Excellent location, great space. It deserves better. And so do I.

Great atmosphere, great food, great service.. what more could you ask? And that's not even mentioning the drinks! Radio Room is a practice in Portland hip. It is effortlessly cool (and therefore a great place to take out-of-towners to give them a taste of the city...or a date to show them how in-the-know you are) and lively in a laid back kind of way. The upper deck is a great place to have food and drinks and unwind on a hot summer night, but the dimly-lit bar is also not to be missed. Service is A+ in all areas. Plus, the location on Alberta is top notch. Like I said, what more could you ask?

Ok food I guess, but be careful going there for brunch. I understand being busy, but it literally took us three hours from start to finish. Our waitress seemed overbooked and flustered, and something as simple as getting our checks took forever. Not a terrible place overall, but avoid it if it looks crowded at all.

We love radio room! It's our go to place when friends come to town or we want to go out. Great atmosphere, inside and out. The food and drinks are I impressively creative without overdoing it! I love the grilled cheese, burgers, meatloaf and chai cocktail.

Let me start off by saying, that I typically do not take the time to write negative reviews. This is my first bad review. My main issue with this place is that the service, in my experience, is absolutely terrible. I understand that Portland is an early city and once last call has been called, you should plan on vacating in a reasonable amount of time. A group of friends and I were here last night. None of us were very intoxicated, we were just playing a game and having a good time. Our waitress came over and told us it was last call. A couple of us ordered one more drink and we continued playing our game, which we were trying to finish. About 15 minutes after our waitress brought our last round she came by again to tell us that they were closing in 10 minutes and she would pull our drinks if we weren't out. My main issues with this are: a) We were not the only people in the place, there were still a bunch of people at the bar. b) It wasn't as if the staff was just waiting on us to leave to go home. They were still doing their closing up cleaning, c) I have worked plenty of customer service jobs in my life, and I would NEVER have the audacity to threaten to take someone's food/drink if they weren't out in 10 minutes. Like I mentioned before. We were not intoxicated or causing any issues. We had a large group, so maybe we were being loud playing our game...even so, this customer service is completely unacceptable to me. d) She was also rude when she said it. I would have been understanding if she was at least a little polite, or asked us nicely. But fine , no big deal. We're all human, maybe she just had somewhere to be that night. However, here is what really put me over the edge: We quickly and peacefully finished our drinks and were using the bathrooms and getting out of our booth to get ready to depart. I was standing in the main entry way with a friend (who was in the bathroom when the waitress came by to tell us we needed to leave) She asked if we were going to finish our game, at which point I told her no, that they had threatened to pull our drinks if we didn't leave. I probably had a bit of annoyance in my voice as I said it. Well, the bouncer/security guard overheard me saying this to my friend and walked up to me and said "Actually, you only have 5 minutes...Actually, you should leave right now" He said this aggressively and with attitude. I have no idea why the staff was being so rude. I was not being rude. I was not heavily intoxicated. I only gave this place two stars because the atmosphere is neat, the location good and the food not bad. Even with all these things I will NEVER come back here again after this experience, and I will encourage my friends to do the same.

This is my third time I've been here. I've tried their salad, burger, breakfast... Everything just tastes amazing! I love the little art vending machine that supports local artist. The service has always been quick and friendly and it's in the perfect location! I highly recommend this place!

Had breakfast there a few months back when I got a coupon deal to use there. The food was spot on great and tasty, portion sizes were nice. As for the night life, happy hour prices are decent. The cocktails are spendy but yummy. Had the "Oh Allyson!" and that was a good buzz. Service was attentive

  • Jameson W.

Jameson likes the Radio Room. Let me try to enunciate why, and similarly, under what conditions you might also find it to be a suitable fit, as well. Long List of Pros in Jameson's Eye: - Good cocktails - Good and friendly bar experience - Fire pit outside is also cool - Fire place on upstairs patio can be cool if it's quiet. - Hung out with one of the co-owners Brian one night, and thought he was cool - Generally like all of the staff - Better than lots of nearby alternatives - Close to my house. There are cons -- but they are avoidable, so I am sticking with 5 stars for now. The first several times I went here, I would sit at the tables, and get some food. Or at that second "coffee" bar thing. DON'T SIT THERE. The service can be very slow anyway, and will be non-existant, if you sit there when the place is busy. To that end, sometimes I walk up to the door, see it's packed, and choose to go someplace else. It just gets stuffed and it's not worth being there. But on a slow to average night, it's great.

Arrived early for Happy Hour on a sunny day so we could try and grab a great table......however when we arrived at 4:45 all the nice downstairs courtyard tables had "reserved" signs on them. Bummer. So we went upstairs and sat at one of the table on the roof....warning....when it's warm outside it gets VERY warm up on top....and the umbrellas at the tables are "smallish" so some members of your group are going to suffer.....only enough shade for 1-2 people. We ordered a couple of the house cocktails which were just OK....the hamburger was very basic and boring.....the fries arrived cool. We sent them back and they just threw the same order in the deep fryer and then brought them back. REALLY greasy. Gross. Hubs had the boneless chicken wings. Meh. Everything on the menu was pretty unhealthy. Fritters, Mac and Cheese, cream based soup, hush puppies, truffle fries, etc. We won't be back.....too many other great outdoor patio places to enjoy our happy hour.

Went in for brunch with a large group of people on a Saturday. The place was busy but we didnt have to wait for a table. We got pints of mimosas (Awesome) and eggs benedicts. The hollandaise was fantastic! They even have a bloody mary bar!. I will be back soon!

Brunch review! What to do on an unexpectedly sunny day while dealing with a hangover from a beer festival? Radio Room for brunch! I think we were lucky to snag a table without wait up on the balcony, which provided for optimum vitamin D absorption. I had the JD Slinger- some sort of "lets throw every imaginable breakfast item in a bowl" concoction that was extraordinarily delicious. There was meat (bacon), potatoes, eggs, cheeses, an english muffin, and sausage gravy. Dee-lish-us. And enough to have a small breakfast for leftovers. My friend had the bagel and lox. Hailing form NY she was happy to find a place that, according to her, "did it right." Also the bloody mary she had was ridiculous...in a good way- giant celery, giant pepper, lots o spice. Service was good, not great. Friendly, but busy waitress. Will return on another sunny day.

Nothing special. There are so many better restaurants in Portland, there are even better restaurants on Alberta. The menu looked great but the food was only ok. The signature drinks are expensive. The service wasn't great either. We weren't given appetizer plates with our app. We came for trivia night which I had mixed feelings about. It probably would have been better if there wasn't a table full of obnoxious, loud people sitting behind us. I understand being boisterous and having a good time but this was out of control. I don't know whether or not this is indicative of their usual crowd.

First let me say I went for a particular event, not for the food or drink. The layout is cool. At least 4 different sections to enjoy. A full bar downstairs, a dining area and bar with large roll up windows, which opens to a large fire pit area, plus another area upstairs which I have yet to visit. The staff are super friendly! The dessert with fried strawberries and chocolate smelled great. My margarita sandwich with fries was yummy, the fries didn't even need ketchup. The food presentation is fun, when the beet salad walked by we all stared and ooohed. Now remember the staff are super friendly, b..u..t., the service wasn't great. Bottom line, I'd go back with friends, sure to have a good time, and of course, I gotta try the breakfast.

Went here for breakfast during a street fair- My boy wanted in to try the advertised bloody mary bar- it was deemed mediocre by him, for lack of stuff to put in it as well as the bland mix that they used, but we tend to lean toward the spicier side of this cocktail, so maybe it was just us. I got a crab cake eggs benedict, which came with potatoes. Hollandaise sauce: a little sweet for my liking, but it worked. Poached eggs: cooked, with runny yolks! good job! Potatoes: super tasty, but I really wanted more of them, I was scraping the plate after I had finished everything I had. Prices were a little high for our liking, and service was...aloof? It took a little too long to get our meals or get refills, etc. Too, the waiters don't really mill around the dining area, they tended to hang out by the bar, so they weren't able to see if we needed anything. Overall, the setting is nice, seems like they've got a decent music series going on there, and the food that we did get was tasty. They also seemed to have some unique things on the menu. Not a bad experience, but I think we'll try some place else if we find ourselves on Alberta Street again.

It's very, very hard to like a place when you wait two hours to get your food. In their defense it was New Years day brunch, which is a busy breakfast hangover day. But on the same hand, everyone knows New Years day brunch is crazy, staff accordingly! I'm not talking about the time spent waiting for a table included, or decided on what I wanted. I'm talking from the time I placed my order till the time I received my food, took a solid two hours. Eggs, Bacon and Toast should never take that long. I'd venture to say that even a half an hour is pushing it! To add insult to injury they ran out of champagne, no mimosas... Radio Room has a seat yourself policy..only they were full. The server came up and apologized for the wait, then informed me they really didn't have a protocols for that. All of us hungry hungover patrons glared at one another, ready to throw blows for the first available seat. Here comes the cliché " I want to like this place ", but really! I hope to update this review with glowing praise. I mean the food was good, not to pricey, and I really like the outdoor area. However, waiting two hours for breakfast when your hung over is cruel and unusual.

RR was eye catching inside and out which is why I stopped in. The service was great and it wasn't too crowded on a Saturday afternoon. The food was tasty but unspectacular. Solid, filling, just underwhelming. I've seen this food before at a lot of other places. That said, I would definitely go back to find that hidden gem on the menu.

Great space for big groups. We go to quite a few events with 15 - 40 people and sometimes the staff gets frustrated and irriatble with the chaos but at radio room they were friendly and seemed to have all the chaos under control. Everyone was commenting that the food was really good. I look forward to stopping in here for dinner, maybe after walking around on Last Thursday.

I went here last night with a large group. All the staff were extremely accommodating to us. This is a great place for a group. Our server, Grace, was absolutely amazing. This is the first time I have seen such flexibility in keeping tabs for large groups. Grace kept us all straight even though we kept moving around. She was incredibly cheerful as orders were flying and people, coming and going. Later in the evening, a second large group arrived, and she's still handled everything with competency, calm and charm. I enjoyed the food. Drinks were fabulous thanks to the bartender, Rocky. I was very impressed with the manager, Sarah Betteridge. Again, all the staff were so great, including Stephanie and others who helped set up our arrangements in the first place and other servers. A great place. I will be going back again for sure.

My man and I were looking for a place on Alberta to have breakfast, without waiting an hour to be seated. After walking past several restaurants with lines that wrapped around the block, we stumbled upon the Radio Room, which had no line, in fact it there were only about 3 or 4 other occupied tables in the restaurant and as many servers as there were parties. This should have been a red flag for us but we were just so hungry that we ignored it. We seated ourselves and while looking around the room we saw a sign that said "Like us on Facebook and write us a kind review BEFORE you order and we'll give you free coffee." Of course, I didn't. I'm not going to say I like a place before I know if I actually do like it. That would be dishonest. It's tacky and unethical of them to even ask their customers to do so... wait, not ASK their customers but BRIBE their customers to do so. Red flag #2 also ignored. I ordered the Dr. Seuss, which was described as "Green Eggs & Ham". James ordered the Monte Cristo. When the waitress came to drop off our food, my eggs weren't green and I mentioned this, even though I wasn't TOO bothered about it because like I mentioned, I was just too hungry to be bothered by little things, like the color of my eggs. She said, "it's green on the inside" which I guess was true because there was some pesto on the inside of my omelet. :/ She asked if we wanted hot sauce. I said that I did. James looked at his BURRITO and asked the waitress, "Is this the Monte Cristo?" She said, "Yes." He said, confused, "Oh. Okay?" She then admitted that she messed up and took the burrito away. So we shared my not green eggs and ham, which was tasty but nothing special, while we waited another 20 minutes for his correct meal to come. By the time it did come we had only a couple bites of mine left. I asked the waitress, "Were you ever going to bring me that hot sauce?" She then got it back to me just in time for my last 2 bites! His Monte Cristo was very good, although, we had to get up and go ask a different server for some maple syrup because our server had disappeared . We shoulda went to the Tin Shed and waited the 45-60 minutes. I guess the moral of this story is... You get what you wait for.

we had family visiting from out of town. they love how the former gas stations was converted to radio room, plus all the patios. we began with 3 lagers, and an upper deck lemonade cocktail for the 4 of us. next, i had the fish tacos, my partner had the veggie black market hash, another had apple bacon kale salad, and one other had the chicken caesar. the drinks/food were exceptional. our guests loved the former cig machine artworks for purchase. our server was the best!

We've been regulars at the Radio Room for years and have always loved the things we order regularly, the Margherita grilled cheese and the wings, especially! But, alas, they changed the regular stuff and the wings are now some kind of weird boneless now and the sauce isn't as good. New chef? I LOVE this place, though, and the wait staff is fantastic. I still love the house-made veggie burger and fries. And the cocktails. And the space. Fantastic.

I've only been to the radio room the one time and the breakfast food looked good, same with the bloody mary's... service was quality as well, all the servers were very attentive and nice... now to the point... stay the hell away from the burgers. I ordered their johnny royale burger but was served the bacon bleu burger instead and it was incredibly soft and greasy.... the beef patty was very undercooked and mushy, like it had been soaked in water for an hour before being thrown on the grill. Two bites and I had to throw it out because it tasted so bad I thought I might throw up. Tomatoes and lettuce were also very mushy and could have very well been a few days old. Unfortunately for me I took the burger to go so couldn't get a refund or anything but hey, what can you do. Am I saying stay away from this place? No. But I'd seriously question getting a burger if I were you. Never again for me. Portland, where the hell is In n Out burger!?!?

You know your friends have crossed over into the more than just a dot on your social network when you ask for 'the menu' and they automatically hand you the wine and cocktail list. Bravo! to Radio Room for having an actual wine/cocktail/hot drinks/ cold drinks/whiskey/beer menu with two sides of delicious options. I love sitting outdoors if the sun is out, and apparently I need to sit outdoors more at Radio Room to achieve a tan. I enjoyed sitting in their upstairs patio, its the perfect place to look down and judge Alberta's strange assortment of socialites. Last night for a friend's birthday shindig we all met up at the Radio Room and it was pretty much perfect for our large loud and proud group. There was lots of familiar but reinvented entrees on the menu, and I loved the sprinkling of seasonal vegetables included in almost every dish. I worked on my inappropriate love affair with artichoke hearts in a mushroom filled ravioli in a light cream apple cider sauce. Delicious! I fed my inner lady and boozer with a Ruby Richard cocktail, the perfect shaken not stirred mixture of champagne and vodka with a hint of raspberry puree. I like the variety of seating selections too, there were indoor seating, at the bar stools, partially outdoors benches, and the upper deck patio lounge area. Overall it was horrible and I don't think you should go there.... ever!!! Okay.... not really. Fine. It was great. I loved it, just don't steal my table or drink all the vodka before I get there!

A nice standby on Alberta Street, well known for a decent happy hour, good drinks, friendly (though sometimes spotty or even horrid) service, and nice menu. The food gets a 3+, the service varies widely, the drinks are 4, and the patio and firepit get a 5. I would say skip the breakfast: you have to give more effort than putting eggs and over-paprika'd potatoes on a plate to count as breakfast (especially when Tin Shed and Tasty n Sons are located so nearby). I also don't know why the hummus plate wildly varies each time I order it, but the happy hour burger and fries are good, and they have a few pretty decent dishes on their menu. Sit upstairs on the outdoor patio on a summer day and this is a wonderful place to chill out and do nothingness for a while. I don't know about you, but sitting on a sunny patio during summer in Portland while doing nothing is very appealing. While the star count varies from It is a regular spot for us, we like it enough to keep coming back.

To be fair I will give this caveat to my review, I've only been once and it was a weekday morning so it was pretty empty and I'm vegan. That said the service was great. But the food was awesome, I had the vegan scramble which was the best I've had on the west coast so far. Not too much tofu and lots of fresh perfectly cooked vegetables. The home fries where delicious and seasoned perfectly. The toast was a nice rustic wheat bread, the only thing I'd change was the jam available wasn't that great but definitely not bad enough to think twice about. I ordered the corn pancakes for my son, those too were tasty if not a little chewy. I am looking forward to going back and trying the homemade vegan burger. My dinning companion liked her non-vegan breakfast as well although I do not recall what she had. I can't believe I haven't eaten here sooner, the atmosphere is nice not too hipster and the pricing is very reasonable.

I was visiting Portland for the week and stopped by Radio Room with a friend, local artist Brian Buchanan. It's one of his favorite spots - he even did a mural above the entrance, very nice;) - and I understand why. Seems like a great locals hangout. Awesome setup - restaraunt below with great art, a firepit, trivia night, etc, plus an upstairs deck with wraparound mural, great lighting, etc. Drink specials, menu with plenty of options, friendly vibe & staff. I'll stop back by the next time I'm in town for sure!

We met up with some friends at Radio Room on Saturday. I was pleasantly surprised to find clearly labeled gluten-free optons on the menu. Its always great to know that you can eat safely and that the people serving you and folks in the kitchen know how to keep you from getting sick. Austin, the kitchen manager, and Dustin, our server both provided an exceptional level of service. The food was great and we never saw the bottom of our glasses. (They also had vegan and vegetarian options labeled.) If you have special dietary requirements, you can feel confident about eating at Radio Room. There were a number of large parties there and we continued to receive prompt, courteous service. We'll be back soon!

Award For Worst Service. Took nearly 30 minutes to grab a drink. 3 bar tenders repeatedly ignored myself & 2 friends that weren't even standing near me. A beer order ain't that hard guys. Never goin back.

a superlative staff, amazing mushrooms, a sweet fiery patio, great drinks, and a wicked deck mural make for one impressive alberta hang out. the horseradish beet salad has stolen my heart.

Ok, so Radio Room twice in the same week is not something that I have ever done--nor will I likely do again, but it was Organic Brewfest and needing a Bloody Mary to get me through the aftermath brought the group back...and well...Sunday Brunch service you did not rock like Last Thursday dinner service--in fact you sucked, which is sad because I want to like you so much more. Here's the run down--4 of us sitting at a booth by the bar. Three of us order Marys we all order scrambles with "white" bread (which is the new sourdough, we think) or a .50cent english muffin option (?! yeah, fifty cents). We got two of the Marys and then it took an act of congress to get the waitress' attention and well clearly we bothered her. Oh let's see what else brought the stars down..oh yeah--she completely screwed up our order when she brought them to us and when you get two cards on the same check maybe instead of saying, "what am i supposed to do with this?" in a snarky huff she should have asked "would you like me to split this you ever patient, awesome table of still-drunk portlanders?" That is how you get the bigger tip and returning clientele...oh well--maybe she was hungover, too?

I think the space is great, and even when you are on the downstairs patio, you are well screened from the street so it feels more intimate. The cocktail I had was delicious (after I had sent back the first one due to its being garnished by a short, curly, human hair), but my steak was medium-well, not medium-rare. The menu is packed, but I don't eat fish or dairy, and everything that wasn't fish seemed to be covered with cheese, so very few options there. I would go back for drinks (ungarnished, hopefully), but not for food. As many have noted, the service was super friendly, but not particularly attentive.

I love the way the radio room looks on the outside on alberta st. and better yet I love diners. It is a great addition to the neighborhood.. The food is not the best i have ever had but the selection assures me i will always find something I want to eat. although that being said... I think the only suggestion which might help out the radio room succeed for a long time would be to pick the menu items which work and perfect those. I wish their calamari was more classic and fried in normal flour instead of rice flour. And the steak i once ordered was way to thick and tough.. but a burger is a great thing to order or the mac and cheese.. keep it simple and you will do great!

Two starts comin' their way for cool patio upstairs and firepit downstairs. Service sitting at the bar was unbelievably slow, though, and we waited more than ten minutes for our drinks and 45 minutes for our food. The bartender tried to placate us by telling us "Your food is coming right out" a few times and much later when it did, all of it was cold except the black beans that come on the side of the chayote squash, which was nearly raw. The bartender explained that chayote is naturally very crunchy and not soft, then took it back to the kitchen where it cooked for another 20 minutes. So despite wanting to love this place, the highest I can go is two stars for terrible kitchen service and a bartender that was BSing us. I should add, though, in the end that the bartender gave up the BS and said "I hope this does not discourage you from coming back again". A little bit of honesty goes a long way and I'll probably try the place again, just because of that.
