Theyre very real, and the food is good. Homemade jam, great breakfasts. I especially like Adam and Eve on a raft.

Coffee, eggs, and service were pretty good. Everything else was just bad. Gelatinous gravy, tough greasy chicken fried steak, dry biscuit, completely flavorless hash browns. On the plus side, it's cheap and there's no wait.

If you want a 'mom and pop' place to order a traditional American breakfast then this is your place. Trust me, you'll know when you walk in that you are welcome. The patrons range from young couples to grams and gramps types. You can tell there are a lot of regulars as well. I personally appreciate Rose's quirky sarcastic and friendly self. She is the only server I've ever seen and she busts her butt around the two room converted house. "If you need me, holler Rose," she'll say. Their hashbrowns are made fresh and the food is as classic American as you can get. You'll find no salmon hash with capers here. But you will find homemade and affordable whole pies to take home, made from scratch! The Prescott Cafe only accepts cash so come prepared. You'll leave full and glad you stopped.

I moved into the neighborhood recently and have been dying to try Prescott Cafe. I went twice that first week. It's a solid neighborhood breakfast place. Comfortable and relaxed atmosphere, great strawberry waffles, and good prices.

This is a cute little place tucked away in Portland! The ladies running the place were so nice, and we loved the trivial pursuit cards they laid out on the table - it made the waiting time go by like a blink! If you're looking for fancy brunches, this is not the place. The food here is simple and homey (boasting the best potato hash in the city!), and the portions are quite big. I ordered the fresh strawberry waffles, enticed that they only have them for a short window of the year, but it was pretty much what I would make in my home - strawberries on top of a waffle. The blueberry pancakes were fabulous though, with fresh blueberries mixed right into the batter. It's a good price for good food. I wouldn't mind giving it another go when I head back to Portland :)

Ok, so maybe for lots of folks it isn't really a 5, but to my son and me it is. I've been coming here for years. The comfy booths, real coffee, and all egg orders are great. My son, who is just finishing 8th grade, always asks to go here with just me and him on our way to school. He usually gets the blueberry pancake and a side of hash browns (oh the days when you could really eat like that), or an omelette, and I get 1/2 order of bisquits and gravy or eggs benedict. The same lady has served us for years, and you can see how clean the kitchen is from where you sit. I hear the homemade pies are great, but we always go early in the morning so I've only tried breakfast. Bring cash - no credit cards are taken. If you live nearby and have an honest face you can pay with a check, but don't push your luck. When you sit in Prescott Cafe, and see all the older folks who are clearly regulars, you are transported in time to the days when cafes were still "in the city" and not just in small towns. Kids are always welcome here.

I love this restaurant! Great service, great home style food, great prices. Go for breakfast, lunch, dinner, dessert, or all four at once ;) I promise you won't be disappointed!

***ABSOLUTELY DISGUSTING!!!!*** I have patronized this neighborhood cafe periodically over the past 5 years, and not only has Rose (the owner/waitress) become increasingly rude and unpleasant, the quality of the food has denigrated to the equivalent of garbage. Today I was treated to undercooked sausage, sloppy, wet hash browns, filthy dishes, and OH YEAH!!! LET'S NOT FORGET ABOUT THE MOLDY TOAST!!! As I said at the beginning, ABSOLUTELY DISGUSTING!!!! Not only did she make me pay for the crap, she treated me as if I was the one responsible for her disgusting food. NEVER AGAIN WILL I EAT THERE, and I will tell everyone I know the same.

The food at the Prescott Cafe was amazing. Huge omelets, even bigger pancakes, and homemade hash browns that are not frozen from a bag. The food was fresh and clearly homemade. They have Trivial Pursuit cards on every table, which was a very fun way to pass the time before we got our food and kept us off our cells phones. The cafe is cash only but I believe there is an ATM nearby. We only had breakfast food, but if the quality is the same, the lunch would be great too.

"If it ain't broke, don't fix it" is an adage my Southern grandfather used to say, and the Prescott Cafe has held true to the sentiment. It's a small hometown diner that achieves timelessness in its lack of unnecessary ornamentation. The layout is simple, but thoughtful, allowing for intimate tables for a single or couple and larger tables for larger groups. The staff is friendly, welcoming, and attentive. I never saw the halfway point on my coffee or water the whole time I was there, and both were ready when I sat down. The biscuits and gravy I sampled were delicious. The gravy was fresh, free from the light skin that normally adorns this dish. The biscuits were consistently fluffy with no noticeable wet or dry spots throughout, and the sausage had a pleasant, invigorating spiciness. The best part: we were in and out within thirty minutes, very satisfied. Only four stars because I never carry cash.

I love this place! When you just want a good breakfast without the wait and hubbub of Portland, get to Prescott Cafe! Rose will take amazing care of you. The coffee is hot and bottomless and you just can't beat the service. Be sure to bring cash though! No plastic here.

I LOVE this place. The people are super sweet. They have good prices close to home and the ladies are nice to children :) I love the biscuits and gravy !!

I mentioned in my last review how hard it is to find a good breakfast place these days. It's gotten harder since the quality of the food at Prescott Cafe has declined so dramatically. I'm the type of person who never sends anything back, but when I order over medium eggs and both yolks are broken and one of them is cooked through, I'd like some new ones. My waitress informed me "that's the way we make them here." I've given this place a lot of second chances over the past couple years but that was the last straw. Sorry, Prescott Cafe, I'm totally over you.

It's just great, every time. If you're looking for upscale, look somewhere else, but if you want really good diner food, come here. Hashbrowns are perfect, service is top notch, coffee forever, makes me feel taken care of on a Sunday morning. And yes, they'll do take out, if you're friendly and appreciative!

We have lived in the area for just over a year and have just now tried this place. The ladies in there were so nice to us and very helpful which was the best part! The food was pretty good, much like other good breakfast places. I wouldnt say this isnt THE BEST, but its good. Although, the corn beef hash I got, it was canned. How do I know? Because of the taste. Its the same canned corn beef hash I had growing up when we went camping. and how the potatoes are cut, you cannot mistake that! Oh well. I was hoping for some real corn beef hash though. So for that I am giving it a 3 stars. I would have given a 5 if it were not canned and made from scratch.

I felt like my grandmother just whipped up the best breakfast I could ask for! Rose was delightful. I am usually a healthy eater but Sunday morning after a night out on the town, my girlfriend insisted on going to Prescott Cafe. I didn't feel like cooking and for sure didn't want to endure any wait times for a table. So, a 2,000 calorie breakfast with no wait..yeah, perfect! I was so surprised how fresh it was! We both ordered The Hearty Man's Breakfast. For $10.50 I had fresh homemade hash browns with onions, 3 eggs, biscuits and gravy and 4 sausage links. OMG, finally a place that knows how to make biscuits and gravy! The eggs were perfectly done. The hash browns were yummy (which I usually leave on my plate) and the sausage links were perfectly cooked..not over or under. I didn't really like that I paid $2.50 for a glass of frozen orange juice, but the taste did bring back some childhood memories. I got two meals out of this deal. The negative reviews, well, don't let that stop you. Sure, things happen, mistakes are made, people are grumpy and sometimes a piece of toast gets burnt. I think it is important to support our local family owned businesses! Give them a chance. Be kind and prepared to leave with a full tummy.

As I live right down the street from this cafe, I've been there more than once over the last few years. Usually after a night out, wanting quick food and no line, and not really wanting to go far for sustenance. It has never really impressed me.. and each time I think I've regretted agreeing to spending that much money on subpar food. It has a pretty cute inside, and is cozy... service is always friendly. It's more the food that warrants the two stars.... if you are looking for a greasy breakfast akin to Shari's or Elmer's but want to support the local guy, go here. If you are looking for delicious food, go elsewhere. It's not horrible, but as the stars proclaim... "meh. I've experienced better." It must be said as well that it is really the only place of it's kind within walking distance, likely the reason I seem to come back occasionally. Having said that... I fully expect to return sometime and try a milkshake.. hear they make 'em old school style, and it that's true that'd definitely bump this place up a serious star. To be updated soon!

I have driven by Prescott Cafe a few times and have thought about going in to try it out. It reminds me of what a family diner/country kitchen place would be like here. After reading the amazing article in The Oregonian, we decided to definitely go. When we got inside it was just what I thought it would - family diner-ish. It was great! There were 2 ladies (one being Rose the owner as I recognized her from the article) who were working feverishly to serve the sold out cafe. They did so with a smile too! I can see people complaining about having to wait to be served right away, but these ladies are super busy and busting their hump - so give them a break. I ordered the denver omelete w/ toast and hash browns and my partner ordered the blueberry pancakes (which he is a self-claimed afficianado of). While we waited for our food we asked each other trivia pursuit questions, as every table as box of them. Our wait for food was not long at all. It was hot, nice portions and delicious!!!! My partner said the blueberry pancakes were fantastic! My coffee mug was never empty. The one down side is that they only accept cash but if you plan ahead knowing that, it's not a problem. I would totally recommend this place!! Help support a very small, local family owned business that could really use your help. This place is a little hidden gem!

Of course this is a 4 on a scale, so really probably a 2.5 in the whole world of breakfasts by comparison, but they definitely get a 4 for: -Charm: A group of sweet ladies that fix your breakfast just the way you want it -Made to order, and eggs cooked properly, without being overcooked, that is my biggest pet peeve in a breakfast -Breakfast all day: if any of you partake in oregon's organic medical options, ahem, you know what I mean when I say all day breakfast is an awesome thing....

If you want a fancy breakfast and a scene, this is not the place for you. But if you're looking for good, solid homestyle cooking in a setting reminiscent of a small-town cafe, this is your place. You can get a better breakfast, I suppose, but you can't get Rose and her staff (who are a treat in and of themselves). I'd give the place 5 stars, but then you'd think I was exaggerating.

Stopped in here today with my daughter and son in law - and once again had a great time and a great breakfast. Love a place that has good food and treats you like an old friend. Had the special - scrambled eggs with spinach and hollandaise with pancakes and a side of bacon. So good.

Can't beat this pay cash only local diner. Breakfast and lunch only. Great breakfasts! They claim to have the best hashbrowns but I think there are better ones. Friendly and fast and old fashioned

We decided to try this place out for brunch randomly one morning. The atmosphere is best described as a truck stop feel. The place is small and has an older crowd - die hard regulars would be my guess. Despite the sketchy impression that you get upon arrival, stick it out for some friendly service from lovely ladies that remind you of mom and some decent breakfast food. The main downfall is that they only take cash.

I love coming here to eat its something the the boyfriend and I will come to enjoy after a night out of partying or a place where we can take my 4 year old for breakfast!. today we took my mom for her first experience and needless to say she loved it to! my only complaint it that if you order milk for your young one make sure you get a small and they fill it to the top so dont be afraid to have them fill it half way I know they will always put some more in if i ask them! Oh and its cash only so be sure to bring it with you!

A nice place to recover from the night before, feels like sitting in somebody's kitchen. Rose is the best, friendly without making you feel fussed over and annoyed. The customers are usually very low key, and relaxed. I love the omlettes because they aren't all ihop fluffy. Ask for onions in your hashbrowns, very worth it. Cash only.

so as a breakfast place it's good the service is nice, it's an old school spot, faithful customers have kept this restaurant on life support for years, the ownership has changed hands several times thur the years & each time they keep the dream alive, i dont go here very often but when i do it's for breakfast, ( the razor clams are fair) the pancakes are good , comfy place, the lunch experence i had was ....well ( fish & chips) like they just gave up and decided too give the job to the gortons fisherman, ive had better out of my freezer....t

This place is good old meat on your bones food or hangover food ~ potato po'ta'to. The people are all fun and down to earth, quick service, and yummy food. The hash browns are good but the french toast it so yummy i crave it. Plus while you wait you can play with the trivial pursuit decks they have on each table. Fun for the whole family

Fun Breakfast Place! I love this cafe! A quiet unique neighborhood cafe with fast friendly service, excellent breakfast food with lots of character and some serious portions. Fun atmosphere with trivial pursuit cards on the table. I called ahead and they were able to accomidate a table for ten. Everything was set up an ready when we arrived, we even had seperate checks and everything was perfect.
