If you want take out chicken, avoid this location, the customer service is awful, the chicken was terrible, the sides were not good, this was my third visit and the worst so far, safe yourself the trip and the trouble and go to KFC, or Safeway, it will be better than this Popeye's.

I Ordered a Po boy combo for 6.50 and when i went to use my card they said it would not go through. I left with no food and the next day I get charged the 6.50. Now since I was charged and didn t receive my food after being told that the order did not go through I have to call my bank and get the charges taken off. I wasted so much time on the phone getting the order taken off and I hate hate hate talking on the phone with customer service. Please avoid this place at all cost and go to another chicken place. I wish i could give this place negative stars. Update: I never had the money returned to me by the bank :(. Popeye's took 6.50 from me and didn't give it back. They are thieves, avoid at all cost

Popeye's is always the acme of chicken joints..I've never understood folks' love of pressure-oil-fried KFC or (gag) Albertson's chicken..also known in these parts as "broasted" chicken. This location has become my go-to Popeye's, though the "pull around to the parking lot to wait" routine is horrific..left out of parking lot onto busy two-way street then immediate left onto 82nd, then immediate left into parking lot...but worth the hassle for the catfish dinner...The first time I went I got a double-large chunk and a half...heaven! Next time the portions were meaner, but still amazing. Wish they would bring back the greens and/or green beans, though..I'd like something not made of starch!

4 stars for the food. These are the best chicken tenders in town, and the sides have great taste. For some reason they didn't have enough help today in the kitchen, and the manger was taking orders working the drive in and cooking. They aren't paying this woman enough, she's doing a great job. ($15.00 per hour min). Back to the chicken and sides, the chicken was hot and succulent. The side of red beans and rice have a great smokey flavor, mashed potatoes were spicy and great flavor. If the service would have been better 5 stars, not the fault of the workers, pay more and people will stay on the job and perform better, don't believe me ask COSTCO.

I saw a coupon online and it STATED present the coupon when ordering, then why the heck that the cashier told me to print it out. Don't you notice that everywhere in Portland tries to stay green by limiting the use of paper and you re telling to print out what you can obviously see on my phone and throw it to the trash can right after that?????? It's late but I'm craving for their chicken right now. I missed Arby's (not), and they were so right down my alley! They're crispy and delicious, their fried chickens. Service is quick. But last night we stopped by there, and we have to wait 12 minutes, they didn't have the dark meat. Their jambalaya was awful, it was soggy. I had their corn on the cob, for the 1st time, and it also smelled like they've been re-heated again & again. They do have a good variety of food, not just chicken. They have great customer service too!

I used to be a DJ in New Orleans, and since then, I've really been into New Orleans food. That's why I'm so stoked that I found some great New Orleans style fast food at the Popeye's on 82nd! You may not know it, but they sell fried shrimp here at this Chicken joint! So, pass on the chicken and order a Butterflied-Shrimp Combo. Fried shrimp, with Cajun spices, spicy french fries and a biscuit. I also got a small order of red beans and rice, as they are required with a real New Orleans meal. The shrimp and french fries are spicy, New Orleans style. The red beans and rice is smokey and pretty authentic. Sure, this is the fast food version, but mannnnnn you could close your eyes and imagine you're in the French Quarter. Quite a leap from 82nd in Portland, Or-E-Gone! My dinner cost $8.50. $6.50 for the shrimp combo (shrimp, fries, 1 very tasty biscuit and soft drink), The red beans and rice were $2.00 for a small order, next time I'm getting a large, 'cause the small IS small! The staff has always been super nice, my orders always come out right! The negatives? Not as clean and tidy as a well run McDonalds. Not exactly health food. Next time I'm ording the cole slaw to offset the deep fried 90%. Just like in New Orleans!

This place is disgustingly dirty. We just stopped by and there was puke on the sidewalk just outside the front door, bathrooms were filthy and the kitchen was a mess! We walked right back out the door and will never go back again. We actually love their chicken but this place should be shut down by the health department

DAMMIT why can't I make my chicken taste like this... even under the batter, it is delicious! OMG! Popeye's is a guilty pleasure, and I love that they're going cheap again, because twice, my husband and I were craving fried chicken, pulled into the driveway, said "9 BUCKS FOR FRIED CHICKEN?!?! HELL NO" And drove away. I'm all about the chicken strips, with layer of red spicy heaven under a tasty seasoned batter. And omg their red beans and rice are yummy! And their buttery balls of fatty biscuits! One thing that bugs me though, is half the time, this location especially, they don't give me silverware... Do they want me to DRINK my red beans and rice? Here's why I don't feel bad about liking this chain. 1. Fried Chicken, sometimes, you just have to have it. 2. I don't want to buy a deep frier because I don't want to be tempted to eat fried stuff that often. 3. It's a fast type of food, and KFC Freaking sucks. 4. I hate grocery fried chicken

This was my first time every eating at a Popeye's Chicken restaurant. The menu looks just like a KFC's menu. This location's looks to be pretty clean both in the front and the back. The staff is pretty friendly and was willing to wait for a bit while our party decided what to order. Sadly, the menu is NOT very vegetarian friendly but one can be creative with the menu if you know what to look for.

Can't say anything else about Popeye's chicken that Bud F. didn't already mention in his epic review. What I can say is this -- this Popeye's has spicy chicken strips! Doesn't sound like a big deal until you go to the Popeye's on MLK (near the Nike outlet) and realize they don't have spicy strips. Your PoBoy will taste that much better for it!

Ugh. I live in this neighborhood and have eaten here every once in awhile. A few weeks ago I ordered a sandwich from the drive through. I got home and there was an open, empty packet of mayo in the wrapper. What? I planned on not going back but totally forgot and went through the drive through for lunch today. I ordered a 3 piece strip meal. When I got home, two of the three pieces of chicken had just a little bit of breading on them and the "chicken" was red. Actually red. I threw everything away. Will someone please open good, quick food in this hood? Sigh.

The WORST popeyes chix I have EVER had, Just bad bad bad. First off, drive through guy did not care about our order. we could barely hear him on the drive thru and he acted like it was our issue, The chicken was mediocre. Tenders were good. Biscuits old and stale, not edible. Mac n'cheese was the WORST!. Just absolute gross, the noodles would not stay on a fork they fell apart and there was nothing but salt flavor. ick ick ick.

They never clean the parking lot, the inside is dirty and they wait till there's 10 cars in line and you can't back up when they are out of chicken and waiting for more to cook up. They are absolute idiots, and whoever is running this place needs to be fired. Have tried to go here 3 times, every time is a disappointment. Really, do not go to this location

If you go here I assume you already know what you are getting yourself into. Its not the healthiest restaurant you could choose. That being said I received excellent service today when am employee brought me out an extra side of fresh hot fries because I assume the ones I received with the chicken were older. Little gestures like that go a long way for me.

The place was dirty when we came in. By the way its just 2:00 pm in the afternoon, and the staff seems like they just want to get off their shift. The girl works there was being mean to my husband. There is no changing table in the restroom for my baby, the floor was all cover with water and yes I almost fell down. No way I will be back, I never feel like I would complaint a restaurant by calling the main company but this specific location disappointed me to death.

Went around 9 on a Saturday and got the three strip meal, with fries as my side. The cahier and lady putting meals together both seemed annoyed at my presence...not really a big deal for me,I really just wanted my chicken...when I got home, I have three tiny chicken nugget sized strips, a flat burnt biscuit, and no fries...so I just drove six miles and paid seven bucks for this... ...i was the only customer! Guess they should have been less concerned with how much I was inconveniencing them by coming in, and more concerned with getting the order right... Try the mlk location, better service, nicer staff.
