Diabetics at Pizza Hut

Pizza is neither a great meal nor the worst for diabetes. All you need is some fact check and monitoring while ordering your pizza. Diabetics can opt for thin crust or skinny pizza at Pizza Hut and avoid the cheese topping to cut down on the excess fat and sodium. If you have diabetes, then ensure to check your portion size when you order a pizza. One or max. two slices are enough. You can also avoid meat if possible and go for wings as a meat option.

Foods to Avoid at Pizza Hut for Diabetics:

You must avoid Meat Lovers Pizza with Original Pan Crust as it contains over 1000mg sodium and will add 470 calories in your meal. You should also skip Super Supreme Pizza Large Original Pan Slice which is too high in sodium and fat. Chicken wings are often tempting but you must control and restrict yourself from ordering Traditional Honey BBQ Bone-in Wings as it can add up to your sugar levels if you eat too many. On average, a person orders or consumes six chicken wings pieces in a day.

Sides must be avoided at all costs especially if it's Bacon Cheddar Fries with Ranch Dipping Cup for its high sodium content. You must also avoid New York Style Cheesecake with Applesauce as dessert as one slice of this dessert item contains 86g sugar. Pizza Hut also offers other Italian dishes such as Pasta. However, you must skip Spaghetti with Meat Sauce and Meatballs and Garlic Bread as it is too high in sodium and sugar.

High Cholesterol at Pizza Hut

Whether large, medium or small, a pizza can boost your cholesterol levels instantly. You shouldn't eat more than one slice of any pizza your order at Pizza Hut. If you're concerned with your high cholesterol, then it is wise to take your friends to Pizza Hut and share pizza among them slice by slice. You can also try pasta at Pizza Hut but ensure that you are not adding any dressing or extra cheese as you order pasta.

Disappointed . Waited 30 minutes for our pizza slice. Hard to believe it takes that long when all you do is make pizza.... pizza was only luke warm at best when it arrived. Dipping sauce for breadsticks was cold as well as the breadsticks. Not impressed ! 6 out of 10.

Pretty average pizza, it hits the spot when in a rush but I wouldn't really go there if I didn't live a block away.

One of my favorite pizza places ever. It's easy to find, delicious, and not very kid-friendly. My kind of place. Try the Pizza Puttanesca and a Arugula Pear salad with candied walnuts. It's an excellent place to meet friends for some excellent food and a few drinks and not worry about fantasizing about knocking out the idiot who brought their fussy 6 year old. Great for takeout as well.

Stopped in to pick up a quick to go order for dinner and was pleasantly surprised by my salad. Two thumbs up for the pear, field greens and candied walnut salad (sans Gorgonzola cheese, of course) - delish! I also tried the bread stick - stuffed with mozzarella and paired with a marinara sauce. The bread stick was good, although not crusty enough for my liking, and the marinara sauce was a bit too sweet. When my "wedding day" diet is over I'll be back to give the famous Pizzicato Pizza a shot!

Fantastic check-in offer! The pizzas weren't the best I ever had but were certainly yum! I ended up getting the September pizza of the month (can't quite remember what that is, feel free to help me out here...) and it was the best at the table. I'd like to get the chance to come back and try some other pizzas because they have a ton of really fun looking pizzas like Eric's Thai and Farm To Table (both are vegan...if that matters). Service was pretty friendly, even if there was lipstick on one of the supposedly clean water glasses (gotta give them a break on that though, it happens).

After ordering my pizza (sausage combo) from an excellent phone person, it arrived within the advertised 40 minutes in perfect condition via a very nice delivery person. The crust is thin and crisp, never soggy from the ingredients. The sauce itself is tasty enough and the various fresh ingredients were arranged nicely over the top with the quite generous cheese. It was nicely cooked. However nice the presentation and pleasant the overall flavor, something's missing there for me, and I'm going to keep tasting until I find the just right pizza. However, I would definitely order from Pizzicato again due to their pleasantness and efficiency and the quality of their product via delivery. I've eaten in at their location over at PSU, so I don't have anything to comment on about eating in at this particular locations. I did not avail myself of one particular service, but Pizzicato does deliver beer and wine, which on the right night would be a real draw to bring me back to order again.

If you ever get a chance to eat here, you MUST try their hummus appetizer platter!!! It is AMAZZZING!!! It comes with delicious, freshly baked flat bread, yummy hummus, a whole bulb of roasted garlic, veggies & etc. I promise you, it's a piece of heaven in every bite! So good! A must-try pizza is their wild mushroom! Oh, wow!!! A party in every bite and a huge explosion of deliciousness for a mushroom lover! Too bad there's not a Pizzicato in CA...

Ate a pizza here 4 years ago and was underwhelmed, so I've been walking by this neighborhood spot for (you guessed it) 4 years. A friend talked us into trying it the other night and I was rather impressed. Tried the Greek and Caesar salads and both were great. The puttanesca pizza was quite tasty, though I don't know how anything can be called by that name without anchovies (next time I'll try requesting them as an addition). The crust was thin and crispy (our friend requested crispy - a good idea) and the toppings were such that it didn't get soggy. Not the best, but WAY better than most. I'll be back soon.

Pizza here is pretty good. Sometimes a bit greasy. Their balsamic vinaigrette dressing is some of the best I've had. Parking can be a problem.

Pizza was great--the pepperoni was very very good, although they went a bit overboard on the cornmeal keeping the crust from sticking. caprese panini was not very good-too crusty. The kid that worked there was kind of a dick--I think he was upset that he kind of looks like a girl

All around sweet pizza joint with good Widmer brews on tap to boot. Would give 5 stars if veggie pizza crust was a little crunchier but I'm happy nonetheless. Also the asparagus bruschetta is good if you like marscapone cheese.

Okay, so the owner gave me a little encouragement to make the trip back here and I did. I appreciate his eagerness in trying to do what he can to make my experience a better one. I believe it deserves 3.5 stars, not 3, but I didn't feel right giving it a 4, because I would not consider myself a fan yet, so we're goin' with the 3. The pizza itself was very good. I ordered the Pomodoro on my half (it's vegan), but I added fennel sausage. (I can't eat cheese, but meat is my friend). My husband had the Salsiccia Roma on his half, and he too enjoyed it. We were both pleased with the flavor. It was a large (16"). On one hand, I did feel like it was a bit pricey for the size of the pizza. On the other hand I thought, it lasted my husband and I two meals each, so is it worth it? Still not sure. We ordered over the phone and the employee was not the most helpful. I'll save you from going into the specifics. I would be a 4 star fan if the price was a tad lower, and the employees were more helpful.

I can arguably say that the best pizza they have is their Thai Chicken. Amazing and far better than the competing CPK. This is the main reason why I'm giving them 4 stars. This specific location is nice. It's been a while but I remember it being a good place to have a casual to semi-formal meal. It may get busy but that's partly due to it's location on NW 23rd. Good place to have lunch and quiet in the mornings, good for a read. I would not necessarily suggest dinner here but also wouldn't be opposed if invited. Prices are on the higher end especially when considering their sizes but it can be worth it. They do make a delicious pizza.

What else can you review a place that forgets your order twice in a row? I walked in a few weeks back, ordered a slice to go, and sat down. Fifteen minutes later I asked them about it and they made it again. Went in yesterday and they did the exact same thing. I'm sure it's just bad luck on my part, but this was my experience.

Last night. Game four, Blazers v. Rockets already started. 3 last minute guests. Have beer. Have wine. No food in apartment. Already called in one Medium pizza, half Thai Chicken, half very Very Veggie and a small salad. Called Pizzicato, as have no cash, and do not want to miss more of the game by running to the ATM before going to Escape from New York. Also, Pizzicato is slightly closer to apartment. Precious minutes on game clock ticking away, time is important. (Especially when your team loses by one point, but this review is about the pizza.) Call in and ask to increase my order. Please add another large pizza, and increase the size of the salad from a small to a large. Teenage employee tells me that he can not increase the size of the salad, because it was already ordered, then proceeds to give me a lesson in how I should order in the future. I think to myself how hard is it to throw in more lettuce into a bigger sized box, and why is he telling me how to order, I would have ordered it together if I had known I would have more people. He then asks me (rudely) when I am going to pick it up, because I should have already been there. Go in and pick up order. $48 for two of the smallest "medium" and "large" pizzas and a measly small spinach salad. Make surprised comment about how small pizzas are. Different employee tells me I should have known because they are listed on line as a 12 inch and a 14 inch. In my head, I say "Thank you, a-hole." Get back. Friends all comment how small the pizzas are. I find a piece of chicken bone in my mouth from the chicken on the pizzas. Blazers lose by one point. I wake up still mad at snotty Pizzicato employees.

I really consider Pizzicato as a 3.5 star kind of place, but after having my pizza-life changed at Dove Vivi, I gotta round down. The pizza's pretty good and I liked both slices I tried the two times I went -- the puttanesca and the mescolanza. Their salads outshine their pizza, though. The arugula pear is absolutely delicious. Lots of fresh, leafy greens and just the right amount of dressing. They're kinda stingy on the pears, though. Overpriced at night but a definite recommendation at lunch, when they have a reasonably priced special.

    (3)
  • Kyle K.

I go here to lunch often... it has a great lunch special of a choice of salad and half a small pizza. I love the Pear-Arugula Salad... it is the perfect blend of candied walnuts, chrunchy pears, and arugula salad with a vinegrette dressing. My favorite pizza is the hawaiian... it is good but they tend to under cook it. I should say something.

holy moses! I love this place. I go here frequently on my lunch break. The Mozzarella sandwich (warm!) has tomato, basil, and balsamic drizzled on the softest bread. comes with a side salad, and drink on the house since I work on the street. The staff is super friendly, and I can call it in and just swing by to pick it up. They also deliver after I think 4pm.

Yum! This was the perfect snack we needed to get us going. The aroma lured us in and the pizzas made us stay. We got a slice each of the Bianca and Speranza (November's special) and sat at the counter - enjoying our pizza and people watch. The Bianca is really really tasty and I love how the cheese just pull and pull and pull! Perfect thin crust, just yummy all around. The Speranza was good too, just can't go wrong with prosciutto.

In case the name and location don't give it away, this place leans more toward the fancy girly pizza. Don't bring your man sized hunger here. That said, it is delicious fancy girly pizza. I am always a fan of the Margherita pizza, no matter how difficult it is to spell or pronounce with the proper flair. A decent little selection of beer is also available to accompany your slice.

Good panini but not above average. I think the people in my group who had pizza were very happy with the pizza. Good salad. Nice spot in an awesome neighborhood. Good not great all around though.

After eating two of my eight meals in Portland here I declared Pizzicato the best pizza I'd ever had. I loved their roasted red pepper pizza. The crust was good and crisp, though not incredible, but the taste of the ingredients was amazing. We also liked their garden salad. The boyfriend and I ordered the same exact meal here both times just because we couldn't get enough of it.

Now under normal circumstances, I elude anything that's green, except for very small things and a few exceptions, but anything that looks like something a giraffe or cow would eat (spinach looks like the leaves on the average tree), I will not touch. However, I happened to be lured in by the strangely appetizing smell of the spinach salad. I tried a bite. For a second, I thought I was grazing on the lawn, but was surprised at how good it actually was. Highly recommended. The pizza was awesome! Molto carne was what we had. It was quick too. Good place to go for a quick but good meal.

Do you remember that Japanese girl band Pizzicato 5? Well this restaurant has nothing to do with 'em, just wanted to give a shout-out. I love that song, "Twiggy vs. James Bond." Food: 4 stars. The pizza is good, but I liked the pizza at Nostrana more. Service: 5 stars. Service is super friendly. Atmosphere: 3 stars. Nothing special, but it's nicer than your ordinary pizzeria. Hits: Molto Carne pizza Misses: Alfredo pizza If You Like This Place, You'd Probably Like: Escape from New York Pizza, A Pizza Scholls

I wanted to give it 3 1/2 stars, but you can't do increments, so I decided to be generous and go with four. Pizzicato is not the best pizza in town - Hot Lips is better for basic slices/takeout pizza. However, they are the closest pizza place to where I live, and are my old reliable standby for takeout pizza. The pizza may not be great but it is consistently very good, and they are pretty fast even at busy times. Their veggie options are all pretty good, and if you like meat, try the "Squisita" with lamb sausage - it's a little greasy but delicious. I like their meatball sandwich too.

    (4)
  • Jav V.

The arugula pear salad was excellent. The pizza was on the greasy side and good but not great. Good beer selrction and lots of specialty sodas. The service was great. They have outdoor seating and gave my dogs treats and a bowl of water.

  • Chelsea A.

I probably would have given the place 3 and half stars if possible, but it's not, so I had to do a downgrade on this one. The pizza isn't bad, I mean it's all right for what it is. Which is fancy pizza, the kind with basil and spinach leaves and tomato that has been marinated. Don't get me wrong, I love fancy pizza, just when it's done well it's better. There salads are awesome, they have an Asian Chopped (or is it Chinese Chopped?) that's killer. Except, that when they run out of the marinated shrimp they just throw regular shrimp in there; and they won't tell you that they did that. So you get back to work and your like ummm.... my salad isn't as good as normal. WTF? Plus the servers generally have a chip in their shoulders. So be on the look out.

    (3)
  • Jessica R.

We ordered a half molto carne and half canadian bacon and pineapple pizza, plus foccacia bread and the hummus plate for our party of four and a half (the half being a four year old kid). Maybe I was just hungry, but I thought the food was really tasty. Our waitress was very friendly, and the place had such a great vibe. I thought the crust and sauce had plenty of flavor. I'd go back.

    (4)
  • Liz G.

The pizza is unremarkable. Not good. Not bad. Just pizza. I'd heard the salads were awesome though, so I tried the spinach one. The server didn't flinch at my substitutions and additions, which was cool. The medium size was huge. There was the perfect amount of dressing, maybe even on the not quite enough side which was nice, soggy salads are gross. Unfortunately the veggies were not quite ripe, and they were stingy on the cheese. I'm eating a giant plate of spinach, at least let me indulge in cheese. Add more cheese and riper veggies and it's an awesome salad. As served, merely A-OK. Oh, and the iced tea tasted like perfume. Weird.

Pizzicato has some of the best gourmet pizza I've had. If you are looking for something different you should try their unique combinations of toppings. If you are just wanting pepperoni, I wouldn't eat here because it can be a little pricey for that type of pizza. It's fun to just take a group of people and split several different kinds. They also have salads which are really good as well.

  • Amy K.

Was craving pizza while window shopping on 23rd and popped into Pizzicato. Not the best pizza I have ever had, but not the worst either. I will say as a native NYer though I do have a difficult time finding decent pizza in the NW. We ordered some slices...the pepperoni was REALLY greasy, which didn't appeal to me. Slice of cheese was better. The slices were huge, so I actually didn't need to order the two that I did so I didn't finish...and I hate wasting food! Good service and location, although the NY Pizza place down the street, appeared to have a bit more character and most likely better pizza...next time!

  • Rachel W.

I have to add I love the spinach salad with pine nuts. Sometimes the salad can be a bit overdosed in dressing so you might want to ask for it on the side.

    (4)
  • Lisa W.

GREAT spinach salad (one of the best I've ever had, and I'm not really a spinach fan), very good pizza (we had the molto carne), but we had to wait an awfully long time to get drinks (sodas and water). Atmosphere is very casual, open, and wasn't very busy on the Tuesday at lunchtime when we were there. The food came pretty quickly, even for pizza, so it would be a good place if you need a quick but gourmet bite to eat. By the way, the spinach salad was HUGE (and I got the smallest size). You could probably make a meal of that alone, but who could resist the pizza??

the best lunch special in portland!! their small salad is definitely on the big side. you get your choice of small salad and your choice of pizza (2 slices) for only 8 bucks!! the salads are yummy and the pizza gets above average marks from me. thin crispy crust and interesting topping combinations.

  • Rachel J.

Originally I only went here because I was given a gift certificate, but I was surprised by how good their pizza is. Many delicious gourmet varieties, and my only regret is that I didn't get to try more. One drawback is that they don't sell pizza by the slice, but that's only at this location, and it's because they have a truce with the other pizza places down the street that do sell by the slice.

I love grabbing caesar salads with chicken for a quick and filling lunch. I switched it up and added shrimp one day and was quite pleased. I've never tried the pizza...go figure....but I hear it's good. The staff is friendly and the ice tea is yummy.

Salad and a slice of gourmet pizza Pizza may be the draw at Pizzicato, but I love their spinach salad. It's smothered in pine cuts and the best balsamic vinegar. You can order different sizes, starting at just $3.75 for a small order. I usually order a salad and a slice of pizza. If I'm with friends, we'll often spilt a pizza. My favorite is either the Thai or traditional pepperoni. Their specialty pizzas are a bit pricey, which is why I like the option of ordering a slice with a salad. It's the best deal and gives you a yummy combination. Did I mention that they have some killer big cookies for dessert? Need any more reasons to try them out? Tip: Try their sandwiches too. They're made on homemade bread. I heard that the tuna was really good.

Having worked in the food industry, I know that it is REALLY a lot of work to pretend like the customer standing in front of you is invisible. I'm happy to report that the counter staff at this Pizzicato have mastered the skill of ignoring their patrons. I stood at the register for over two minutes while the employee took a long, elaborate phone order. She looked straight through me to read the labels off the beer bottles in the cold case to the caller. Seriously?! It would have taken 30 SECONDS to let me know she'd be right with me. Instead, I got a passive-aggressive eye roll when all I wanted was a to-go box. On my way out the door I got a cheerful, "Bye, hon!" Goodbye is right. I won't be eating here again. The food is great but the service leaves more than a little bit to be desired.

I stopped into Pizzicato for a slice of pizza and the people there were very nice. I had the "Just Cheese" slice which is what it sounds like.. a slice of cheese pizza with red sauce, and the "Di Pollo," which was a chicken, mushroom and garlic pizza slice with an olive oil base. Both pieces were yummy but it didn't make it on my "all time best pizza list." Still, the service was pretty quick and friendly and I would eat here again if I were in the mood for a slice.

We were on the hunt for a pizza restaurant that catered to gluten-free customers, and were pleased to find that Pizzicato Pizza offers not only slices but entire pies gluten-free, with a vast range of toppings. We ordered both a gluten-free and a regular pizza; the crust on both was thin and crispy, reminiscent of pizza from northern Italy. The toppings were fresh - the pepperoni was wide and thin, the mushrooms fresh and the artichokes tender. The gluten-free pizza crust was lacking slightly in flavor, however. The service was a little slow (to arrive, not to order), though this could be forgiven for preparing a gluten-free pie from scratch. The price seemed a tad excessive as well; over $40 for two pizzas. However, the experience was far superior to many other gluten-free restaurants we've visited, and overall we were pleased, and would definitely return.

What happens when the staff doesn't even know what gluten-free means? Fail. (at least in our book it did). We always love it when its time to get pizza! This is one of our many go-to pizza joints in town and we just so happened to be in the area at the time. We stopped in fairly late (almost closing time) and we order a couple pizzas to get a variety and take some home with us. When asking about what sizes the came in gluten-free, since we wanted a healthier choice in fine dining, we were promptly told which of the sizes they were and the person who took our order made a smart remark how gluten-free isnt the healthier choice.... hmmmm... which kind-of threw us off, as we weren't ordering the pizza for them to eat, rather for us. "Thanks for the input, but we've been just fine til now with gluten-free and more importantly, those of us who have gluten sensitivities don't have to worry about feeling like crap after we get done eating. " The pizza is Good here, the customer service on the other hand , should be worked on. I don't expect this from pizzicato, maybe escape from New York pizza down the street, if you know what i mean.

I had an awkward experience when I came into this Pizzicato with my girlfriend one evening. We were ushered to a seat (why so formal?), and after looking at the menu for a few minutes confessed to the server we were just curious if they carried vegan slices. We got a long, defensive and somewhat rude response. We ended up ordering a side of vegan pita/hummus to go. The menu said the order came with "marinated tomatoes, pepperoncini,. & kalamata olives, served with flat bread". At home we opened the box to discover just flatbread and hummus--no marinated tomatoes, no pepperoncinis, no kalamata olives. Overall the experience was bad and we won't be returning.

This was one of my first slices of pizza in Portland and I have to say that I was impressed. I hail from Cali, home of the unique, seasonal, random, and creative pizzas, so it means a lot. Maybe it was because I was hopped up on caffeine from my espresso tour & just had to have something salty or else I'd spasm and potentially hurt someone, but I really thought it was a slice of gourmet pizza. I opted for the daily special which was a mixture of cheeses, heirloom tomatoes, with drizzles of olive oil and balsamic vinegar and sea salt sprinkles. The dough was thin where needed and the crust was nice and chewy. The olive oil coated my tongue and the balsamic gave it a bit of tang mixed with crunchiness from the sea salt and the fresh juicy heirloom tomatoes. It was perfect! (See its photo shoot.) With all the pizza places in Portland, this place (even though it's a chain) deserves a second glance.

I haven't had a lot of pizza in Porland, so I have no basis for comparison, but needed a quick lunch so stopped by Pizzicato. They have an economical lunch deal of a slice of pizza and a salad for around $7. We got the Mu Shu Pizza and wedge salad, and a special seasonal pizza with sausage. Both were pretty good, and I appreciated the fact that there was a nice variety to choose from in the by-the-slice category. I wouldn't make it a destination, but it's very kid-friendly if you need that, the space is huge, and the service was quick and efficient.

Since there's a location very close to our new apartment, the wife and I decided to give it a try one night. We ordered an Al Greco pizza and an order of breadsticks to go. The Al Greco was fantastic. It was a Greek-themed pizza, topped with lamb sausage and feta with a garlic/olive oil base. It even came with tzatziki dipping sauce, which hammered the point home. The breadsticks, however, came in the form of the Arugula Pear salad. Since it was raining (natch') and I had just kicked off my shoes, I cut our losses and had the salad, which was very, very good. The pears and candied walnuts added just the right amount of sweetness to offset the gorgonzola and balsamic dressing. The best comparison I can make on the pizza, even they're a newer establishment than Pizzicato, is Sizzle Pie. Both pizzas are nice, thin, and crispy; and they both offer veggie and vegan options. Sizzle Pie's slices are wider, but that really has no effect on the actual taste. So, with confidence, I can say that if you like one, you'd like the other. Since it's in our neighborhood, we'll be sure to return often, trading off with Escape from New York to spread our pizza dollar around NW 23rd a bit. Plus, I still gotta try those breadsticks! :)

I used to work on NW 23rd and would stop in here a lot if I hadn't had time to pack my lunch or dinner that day before work. The reason I'd stop into Pizzicato a lot was because they actually have GREAT salads for a pizza place! They're salads are big and fresh and the dressings are all delicious and made in house.

Not from the area but looked on Yelp and found Pizzacato. Friendly folks so my hopes were high. Not impressed. Meh pizza and the pear in the salad was rock hard with huge globs of candied walnuts. While I waited for my order, an employee vigorously swept the surrounding floor. Yuck! Won't go back.

Tasty pizza and salads, but the service was definitely off the night we were in. Maybe someone was sick and they were understaffed? I hope so, because what little service we received made my husband want to walk out right after finally getting our order in. Apparently at some point during the night "the order at the counter, take a number, and find a table" routine turns into a "be seated, , order off the menu and pretend it's a real restaurant" routine. We got caught up arriving somewhere in between because we got in line to order at the counter behind 3 other parties. When it was out turn, we were rudely told that we needed to order at a table. OK? But nobody ever came to our table, so we checked to see if they'd forgotten, since others were continuing to come in and order at the counter. We were rudely told that there were other tables before us. And so we waited. And waited, as we saw an employee bus three tables around us. Long story short- lack of service, either rude or unorganized employees, the order was incorrect, it was shorter for us to go up to the counter to get things, rather than wait for the waitress, and there was definitely an attitude that night, which explains why we didn't leave a tip. This is the first time we've ever done this and feel horrible for doing so, but with the way we were treated, leaving them a tip and telling them how we felt probably wouldn't have mattered to anyone anyways. Hopefully next time we make it in, nobody will have called in sick that day...

Walking around the Alphabet District gave us a hankering for a good pizza pie. We got close to the place and just followed our noses. It's a pretty simple order and sit dining room, so don't go here looking for a nice dinner service. They offer whole pizzas as well as pizza by the slice. They even had a cool combo: Pizza And A Pint for $5.99! We ordered a medium Greek salad, and a medium wild mushroom pizza. The salad was huge for a medium (we ended up with a ton of it left over) but it was delicious, very fresh ingredients and not too much dressing. My first bite of pizza made me exclaim "holy sh**" through a mouth full of cheese and veggies. It was excellent! The crust was that perfect mix of crispy an chewy, and had a great flavor too. We would definitely come back for more!!

My first meal in Portland was a pizza pie, a Margharita one in fact (my favourite!). Surprisingly good! Lots of fresh basil and tomato slices, bubbling mozzarella cheese, and a warm fluffy pizza crust won me over immediately. Half of me wanted to finish my individual-sized plate (4 overly generous slices), but the other half warned me not to, so I left 1.5 slices behind (such restraint). My thighs will thank me later. Watch out for too much garlic because this place is obviously a hot date spot. The couple of horny teenagers making out at the corner table was my first tip off. Other similar couples trickled in. Thank goodness I was too much in lust with my pizza to care. The spinach salad is also worthy of attention. Definitely a great place for lunch or dinner, though I highly recommend taking it to-go.

The pizza is good but small for what you pay. The Salads However are amazing for the price. Recently I ordered 2 large Pizza's and a salad for my family When I arrived to pick it up the total was over $60 and the pizza's were really small. But the pizza is good so they are Ok with me.

I dream about Pizzicato! Their pizzas have such creative toppings, their salads are big enough to feed an army, and the restaurant is bright, colorful and cozy. When I am pretending to be a vegetarian, my favorite is the Puttanessca with artichoke hearts, tomatoes, kalamata olives, and cheese. On my Holy Carnivore days sign me up for the BBQ Chicken with scads of sweet, tangy BBQ sauce, and cheddar cheese.

This 23rd location is a good place to take someone for a casual but respectable dinner. The dining room makes this one of the only pizza places in town where you can take a date or business associate for a meal that feels relaxed but professional. The outdoor seating is excellent for taking in the summer sun, though the tables are on the sidewalk, which is at such a slant that your water tilts in its glass. This upscale pizzeria has good fresh salads and pizzas by the slice or as a whole. They're a bit pricier than the average place, but the salads are worth it. By the slice the pizzas are good too, though not quite as good as Hot Lips. Pizzicato plays with cheeses and favors kalamata olives, two things I love, but their toppings don't get very adventurous and the crust tastes salty to me. I still like it, it's just not my favorite.

I'm not very picky when it comes to pizza - I love it all. But to write this review I'm putting on my descernment hat. As such, I'm only giving Pizzicato 3 stars. The salad was good, the pizza was fine. The crust was thin, but chewy and flavorless. The toppings on the Salsiccia Roma were fresh. The sauce was thin. It is definitely gourment pizza - not something to chow down on. It was fine - but nothing blew me away.

    (3)
  • Abe I.

I have to agree with the other reviews in that the salads are better than the pizza, (you can tell I'm very macho, yes?), actually, the pizza is suprisingly mediocre, compared to hotlips and other gourmet pizza joints. The atmosphere is more upscale than most pizzarias (not too tough), so it's a good spot for a more casual date or a quick bite, but if you're looking for the best pizza in town, this isn't the joint.

Wow, wow, and wow. That's all I can really say about Pizzicato. I wandered in here because my trusty Yelp app told me it was Vegan friendly and I was starving. While their menu doesn't have a lot of Vegan options (one Vegan, many Vegetarian) outlined, there are plenty of custom options that you should take advantage of, should you crave a plant-based pizza. I started with the kale salad, which was literally one of the best salads I've ever had. The kale was crisp and fresh, the dressing was tasty, the shredded carrot, pumpkin seeds, and cranberry gave it the perfect crunch and tartness. Simply excellent! But the main event came when my pizza arrived. I ordered the mushroom pizza sans cheese with spinach, onions, peppers, and garlic oil that took the place of tomato sauce. The crust was crunchy and delicious and the toppings were fresh. From start to finish, Pizzicato was a mouthwatering experience. There is plenty of room for seating both indoors and outdoors and this location is situated in the most charming part of Nob Hill, where you can shop and stroll around the entire day. Enjoy!

Ok, so after I had my negative experience at Pizzicato, I received a phone call from a manager in Austin, Texas and we talked about my experience. He gave me a free pizza coupon and asked that I try again. So I did and I have to say, the pizza was MUCH better. The crust is still a little bland, but overall I had a good pizza experience. To be honest, I was too scared to try delivery and opted to pick up in the store. Again, good customer service there. I probably won't order the kale chicken pizza again and stick to the basics, but I'lll definitely continue to give them my business. I appreciate their willingness to reach out to their customers. Maaaybe, just maybe, next time I'll try the delivery.

We are in town to house hunt from Dallas, TX. Stopped in here and had a fabulous Spinich and Feta and a tomato and mozerella Paninni. My wife's was on gluten bread that was awesome. Really fresh, really fast, really good.

Pizza was okay, the service was okay, Caesar salad was floating out of the plate was too much dressing,(not very good). Asked for another bottle hot sauce and said that's all they had (empty) and noticed an employee on break with a fresh bottle, didn't even bother putting it out for customers, took it right back to the kitchen for them to use. Very disappointed because I won't be coming back.

Yuck. Cold, undercooked, greasy, and the crust seemed like it was made days ago and (barely) reheated. Very unfriendly service from the counter dude also. This place has definitely jumped the shark. Used to be good way "back in the day", but now it's just a lingering presence on 23rd. Sadly, the only other pizza choice in NW is Escape from NY, and it is marginally worse on all accounts.

I thought the pizza here was decent, not bad and not good. +Crisp, thin crust pizza but nice large slices. I like that it was not oily. +Pepperoni was tasty. -Just didn't feel like it was anything special. -Service was subpar. Kind of felt like serve yourself but gourmet?

My first thought is, it's a solid lunch choice. They offer a slice and a substantial salad for $7.25. You get to pick the slice and the type of salad. The place is conveniently located in the middle of fashionable 23rd Ave. I enjoyed the super thin crust and the salad (I had the pear Gorgonzola) was really tasty. If I lived in the area I might frequent the place, but it's not really a place I would go out of my way to get to. Again, it's a solid lunch choice.

I was at the NW location on Friday evening for gluten-free slices as I've had them at the Alder location and they were good. However, the NW is a different story. I ordered two slices and both arrived at my table cold, with a crust so thin I couldn't believe I just spent $10 on them. The cheese wasn't fully melted and I wondered if they accidentally put vegan cheese on it that wasn't meltable. I was very disappointed and had I not been exhausted and really hungry, I would have returned them. However, I needed to eat. I am sharing this since it was kinda shocking compared to the Alder location. I left hungry and felt ripped off. It's hard to find a decent slice of gluten-free pizza in this town. Knowing that, coupled with the fact that the cost of the slices are jacked up to almost $5 a pop, it is a depressing pizza scene, Portland.

After personally stopping at the store to place my delivery order (I was rushing to a meeting and couldn't wait to take it with me), I was told to expect an hour to 1:15 minute wait. Not a huge fan of the wait time for the pizza but I am, however, a fan of their pizza. It's not as good as SFNY pizza in my opinion but it's close enough for me to finish it all even though I wasn't even that hungry. Also, it came out super hot and fresh so of course I'm happy about that. Only thing is, I would not come by here if I'm super hungry because it takes almost forever for the food to come out.

Have tried Pizzicato "Gourmet PIzza" two times now and I'm not a fan. The first time I tried a basic slice of pepperoni and it was cold, undercooked, flavorless, and somehow even the dough was greasy. I thought I'd give it a second chance and go the safe route custom ordering my own to go, a sausage, pepperoni, and spinach, my go-to classic. Unfortunately though the complaints were exactly the same as before! The pizza was so greasy I felt like it was eating through the box, none of the ingredients had any flavor, it was overloaded with so much cheese it was inedible, again the pizza came cold, and worst of all well undercooked. I'd steer clear of what PIzzicato is calling gourmet pizza and just go grab a slice from Sizzle Pie.

What else can you review a place that forgets your order twice in a row? I walked in a few weeks back, ordered a slice to go, and sat down.

Freezing cold in here. Having to wear my coat. One shouldn't be shivering while waiting for their food. I won't be back

Also the asparagus bruschetta is good if you like marscapone cheese.

  • Carissa W.

    (4)

  • Shannon K.

    (4)
  • Ken A.

The arugula pear salad was excellent. The pizza was on the greasy side and good but not great. Good beer selrction and lots of specialty sodas. The service was great. They have outdoor seating and gave my dogs treats and a bowl of water.

The pizza is good but small for what you pay. The Salads However are amazing for the price. Recently I ordered 2 large Pizza's and a salad for my family When I arrived to pick it up the total was over $60 and the pizza's were really small. But the pizza is good so they are Ok with me.

    (4)

Good service and location, although the NY Pizza place down the street, appeared to have a bit more character and most likely better pizza...next time!

the best lunch special in portland!! their small salad is definitely on the big side. you get your choice of small salad and your choice of pizza (2 slices) for only 8 bucks!! the salads are yummy and the pizza gets above average marks from me. thin crispy crust and interesting topping combinations.
