Diabetics at Pizza Hut

Pizza is neither a great meal nor the worst for diabetes. All you need is some fact check and monitoring while ordering your pizza. Diabetics can opt for thin crust or skinny pizza at Pizza Hut and avoid the cheese topping to cut down on the excess fat and sodium. If you have diabetes, then ensure to check your portion size when you order a pizza. One or max. two slices are enough. You can also avoid meat if possible and go for wings as a meat option.

Foods to Avoid at Pizza Hut for Diabetics:

You must avoid Meat Lovers Pizza with Original Pan Crust as it contains over 1000mg sodium and will add 470 calories in your meal. You should also skip Super Supreme Pizza Large Original Pan Slice which is too high in sodium and fat. Chicken wings are often tempting but you must control and restrict yourself from ordering Traditional Honey BBQ Bone-in Wings as it can add up to your sugar levels if you eat too many. On average, a person orders or consumes six chicken wings pieces in a day.

Sides must be avoided at all costs especially if it's Bacon Cheddar Fries with Ranch Dipping Cup for its high sodium content. You must also avoid New York Style Cheesecake with Applesauce as dessert as one slice of this dessert item contains 86g sugar. Pizza Hut also offers other Italian dishes such as Pasta. However, you must skip Spaghetti with Meat Sauce and Meatballs and Garlic Bread as it is too high in sodium and sugar.

High Blood Pressure at Pizza Hut

Fast-food restaurants like Pizza Hut are not recommended to dine-in if you are diagnosed with high blood pressure. High Cholesterol at Pizza Hut

Whether large, medium or small, a pizza can boost your cholesterol levels instantly. You shouldn't eat more than one slice of any pizza your order at Pizza Hut. If you're concerned with your high cholesterol, then it is wise to take your friends to Pizza Hut and share pizza among them slice by slice. You can also try pasta at Pizza Hut but ensure that you are not adding any dressing or extra cheese as you order pasta.

As I've said before, I'm seriously gluten-free, so finding tasty GF pizza is a high priority of mine. This downtown Pizzicato delivered with a thin crust, stretchy cheese, and loaded toppings. Unlike other crusts I've had before, the thin crust was not rock-hard, and tasted better than any store bought crust so far. The slide is pretty big, but you should weigh that against the $4.50 cost. What saves this place from being merely three stars, though, is the friendly staff, quick service (I'm here at an off hour, so take that into consideration), and the DELICIOUS Italian soda I had. Seriously, one of the best I've had in a while. The pizza here does have a cross-contamination warning, so be careful. I'm very sensitive and did have a minor reaction.

I live on the PSU campus so I frequently eat at this Pizzacato. It's fairly decent. The staff can be hit or miss when it comes to service and attitude. They do have gluten free pizza by the slice, which is really nice considering most places make you order entire pizzas. The only frustrating thing is this location seems to rarely have vegan pizzas for other people in your group with dietary preferences.

  • Daniel H.

Rude and incompetent employees. They forgot about my pizza for upwards of 20 minutes after it was out of the oven (40 minute wait total). It was cold and undercooked when I arrived home 10 minutes later. They didn't seem to have a box big enough for an 18" pie, so they just took the last 10% of the pizza and folded it on top of itself. Another customer had a similar problem with his pizza taking too long, and when he asked if the slice that had been sitting out wrapped in foil for 15 minutes was still warm enough, the employee responded with a very passive aggressive "Why don't you tell me?" The other customer just shook his head, took his pizza, and left; if it had been me I would have put the slice to his face and asked him the same question. I like Pizzicato and have been a customer for years, but this location needs management to come in and give the employees a reality check. Update: I spoke with the owner via email, and she said she had a talk with the employees who I interacted with and sent me a gift certificate good for a free large pie. I think I'll cash that in at the Division location when I'm out in SE.

A bit steep for pizza, $4 a slice for most of the basics.Tasty almost paper thin crust. BBQ Vegan was really good.

  • Lily L.

I admit, I have a love-hate relationship with this place. I love the BBQ chicken pizza but I do not love the price of $4 a slice. The any pie(small order) is $13.75! I can't get full of one slice, but if I were to order 3 slices, wouldn't it be a better deal to order a whole pie? For how thin the slices are, I appreciate how much topping there is. The good thing about this place is the seating. There is enough space for individuals and groups. What I don't understand is why the heck do they put a dinner special (can only order after 5) during lunch times?! This location doesn't have very good deals compared to the one on Division.

I have two classes on Thursday night with only a short window of time to grab dinner. I can't believe I didn't discover this place sooner. I love that they offer a bunch of unique pizza combos along with the typical cheese and pepperoni. also had a chopped asian salad, which was pretty good.

  • Kevin M.

Very much a campus franchise. The staff was confused; not customer service oriented, but they put together a good pizza and salad.

    (2)
  • Mal C.

It's kind of pricey for the slices of pizza, but if you go for the $6.95 slice of pizza, salad, and drink order past 7PM, that's well worth it. They also have half-price PBR's for happy hour. The salads are pretty large and filling. I think I like the Greek salad best. The arugula pear salad was pretty good as well, but I was hoping the pear was sweeter and wanting more candied walnuts. The pizza is always really good, and I love the pizzicato breadsticks - filled and baked with yummy mozzarella.

I haven't been to Portland in a long while, but I still remember eating at this place like it was yesterday. It's a tossup between this and Hot Lips for me, so I know exactly where I'm off to as soon as I get off the plane next time I'm in town. I can't really say to much about it because it's been a minute, but I do remember thinking that it was probably the best pizza I'd eaten at the time, and the location and staff were both super nice, too. Loved this place.

  • Scott H.

This is my favorite Pizzicato. I feel like the quality of the pizza is always high across all the stores, but this one has the friendliest service. When I was living in a hotel in downtown Portland, they would always come right up to my room, rather than calling me from the lobby when they would deliver a pizza. The one time they were horrendously late, they gave me a coupon for a free pizza. Plus the staff is by far and above the friendliest at any Pizzicato. Gold star!

    (4)
  • Kelli D.

Super friendly staff, easy going atmosphere for a quick slice during lunch. I like to try to get in there at least once a month to try their monthly pizza - never disappoints! So fresh and on colder days I add a cup of soup - always tasty. One of the first places I tried when first moving to Portland for a job at PSU and I will continue supporting them!

  • Jen W.

The food here is generally pretty good, yummy pizza and good salads. My comment relates to the sandwiches and how incredibly long it takes to get one! The menu board says it'll take a minimum of 8 minutes, but in actuality it's really like a minimum of 15 and probably at least 20 minutes. If I go there again for a sandwich, I'm planning to call my order in ahead of time.

    (2)
  • Ilesha D.

Pretty good pizza's and the paninis are pretty yummy too. However I feel like they put a lot of garlic in their artichoke pizza and their artichoke dip. I love garlic but I hate leaving the place with a bad breathe, its so strong! Otherwise, good staff and a spacious place.

I finally got to try this place this afternoon. I thought the pepperoni slice was very similar to Pizza Schmizza's. However, the biggest and best difference is that Pizzicato sprinkles freshly grated parmesan on their slices before cooking. None of that 100% grated crud that Kraft produces. I'm a huge fan of freshly shredded parmesan. Only way to go. They do have the powdered stuff to top your pizza at the table though for those who like the stuff. I was slightly disappointed with the breadsticks. The description explained that it was a breadstick filled with mozzarella. I was hoping for a plump breadstick with gooey cheese inside. But instead of being tubular, this was like a flat layer of dough topped with a thin layer of mozzarella which was then topped with a second layer of flat dough. Cheese on the inside is great when it's a thick layer and the cheese can stay melted and gooey. But when it's just a thin layer inside the dough, it solidifies too quickly and isn't that fun to eat. Like Pizza Schmizza there is a good selection of a few select microbrews on tap to go with your meal. I had an organic IPA from Washington which was a great accompaniment to the pizza. I'll definitely be back during happy hour ($6 for a slice & pint) since they are just a couple of Streetcar stops away from my house.

Now with their newest yelp check-in offer there is really no reason to not go here every single day. With a Yelp check-in you get a free slice with the purchase of any other. At a minimum that means two slices of cheese pizza for $3! ahhh yeah. Plus, between the cool pizza varieties, sodas, beers, and sandwich/salad options, there is always something awesome.

My Dad recently moved to Portland and took me here on my first visit. This place was awesome! We sat outside and it was beautiful right in downtown Portland. The pizza was awesome and different than the usual Pizza Hut, Domino's, etc. Our waitress was so sweet and took the time to answer any questions we had (my dad asked a lot of questions) My dad asked for a recommendation from her and she recommended this combo pizza. He loved it. I had the garlic bread as an appetizer and it was terrific and so was the pizza. My sister liked it a lot too and she is a really tough critic. Every time I visit my Dad I always make him take me here and usually go at least two times during my visit! It's great!

Tasty paninis! Several months ago, I went here with a coworker and forgot to write a review. Well, I was searching for a list of places to suggest to our group for a pre- or post-show meal this coming weekend at the Keller Auditorium, and totally forgot about Pizzicato. The last time I was here, I ordered the mozzarella panini. It was tasty enough that it's something I'd want to go back for (again). Generally, I'm not a big fan of eating out (for) pizza or Italian, but I'd go here again just for this panini. Fresh ingredients and a great accompanying salad. Prices are reasonable and what you eat, you can walk off with a nice stroll downtown.

I stopped in here for a quick lunch. Super easy to step off the streetcar and grab a slice. I had "The Crazy Four". Four types of mushrooms. I usually don't go for the vegetarian pizza but I LOVE mushrooms. It was really good and I'll be getting that again. The staff was very friendly and helpful too.

I feel compelled to express my gratitude to you, Pizzacato, for being the first pizza place I've seen that offers gluten free pizza by the slice! Those who have the wheat/gluten allergy like I do know how depressing it is to not be able to go out for a slice of pizza. Pizza has been a favorite food of mine since before I developed my wheat intolerance and I'm stoked to be able to enjoy it again (without having to purchase a whole pizza, which is the case in most places that offer GF pizza). Thank you for giving us wheat/gluten intolerant people back the pleasure of pizza, and for actually making your GF crusts taste good, much appreciated!

Excellent lunch special - tasty pizza, delicious, large salad with quality ingredients and cheerful and helpful employees - a winning combination. Congrats Pizzicato.

  • Marya V.

I love this pizza! The ingredients are fresh. The topping combinations are delicious! They have great veggie and vegan pizzas, if that's your thing. The staff are always friendly. They have a good (rotating) beer selection, if you dine in. They have special pizzas every month, using in-season, local ingredients. Some of my favorites have been: Pizza Fresco (Heirloom tomatoes with balsamic sprinkled on top), Mediterraneo (Spinach & Artichoke base with tomatoes and lemon zest), and the old stand-by, Margherita. The salads are good, too, but make sure you really like garlic before ordering the Caesar Salad!

Pizziacato has the best pizza and salad in Portland! For the price, the taste is amazing :) I crave whenever I go out of state!

  • Mac M.

I really shouldn't have gotten pizza today....no I really mean it! But Pizzacato is so damn good, I had no choice did I? I say I should not have gotten it, not because I don't like the pizza they have, but because the flippin' A/C is not working in the building I'm in at PSU! The pizza was good enough; good cheese, tasty pepperoni , and seemingly fresh mushrooms & olives. But I should have asked them not to heat up the damn slice, because it nearly turned my fingers into dried out, carbonized, husks. In addition to that, I found myself looking like some kind of junkie in my classroom; sweating profusely, unable to talk properly while my tongue and roof of my mouth recovered from the lava of cheese from Mt. Pizzacato. Looning beyond that however, I can feel confident in recommending the pizza there when you are short on time and jonesin' for a piece o' pie.

Organic--need I say more? Closes way too early--strike two. Had very limited selection of actual pizza choices--they're out!

  • Erin K.

I have only had slices to go from here, but they are always great. Interesting, very fresh toppings, decent prices for the quality. My favorite, and I don't remember what it is called, is a veggie one with a hummus base, so delicious!

    (4)
  • Annika H.

From a poor teen's point of view, Pizzicato has a flaw. The pizza's so damn good but we don't have the mollah to afford another slice. Thin crusted with cornmeal on the bottom, each heavenly triangle starts with blast of flavor and ends in a burp of satisfaction. The atmosphere is for anyone, families, groups of hipsters, pimps and their grandmothers (this situation I'm sure has happened), and a wide array of pizza sices, or whole pizzas, is available. While the price is a little up there, Pizzicato still remains one of my go-to pie pubs.

  • Dorcas L.

I'm not fancy, I just like basic pizza and soda. I'll have a salad now and again. I'm not vegan/vegetarian, so not your average Portland diner, more along the typical Southerner (I'm from Georgia). So the first time we went there things were pretty good. I got a standard pepperoni slice and a coke. The inside was nice, more bistro than pizza place. I liked it, it was open fairly late (Portland closes down at like 7pm. This city is crazy.)and it was quiet. They also had the parm and red pepper flake shakers I like. Bonus. I think buying anything more than a slice or two gets entirely too expensive. Their whole pizza pies are a rip-off, being about the same size as one would get from a chain for like $15-$20. No, no thank you. I got the caesar salad once, it was tasty. My only disappointment is that they gave me mostly lettuce heart. I say this is the prime place for grabbing a slice and hanging out. I prefer the taste of their sauce, and crust to Hot Lips.

  • IH K.

For woodfired "gourmet" pizza, I've experienced better. But for the fast-food/real-food climate it offers, Pizzicato is okay by me. I ordered a slice of their heavily veggie and potato laden pizza and was instead brought out some artichoke pizza thing. Not wanting to complain, I proceeded to drink my stout and start on my pie slice. One bite into my pizza, they seemed to realize that everyone's orders had been mixed up and was soon brought my tater pizza slice, which was thoroughly enjoyed by moi. It's a good thing too because I'm not sure they would have received such fond ratings from that artichoke piece. Service was friendly and quick, despite their confusion. I'd more than willingly go back into one, but am definitely still searching for my DC 2Amy's comparable woodfired in Portland.

Always enjoy pizzicato pizza, but the service at this location was bad beyond belief.

The pizza is just OK. Salads are very good and large. Service sucks. Hours are too short, especially for a PSU location.

It's hard for me to believe that the Sbarro in the PSU food court survives, with PIzzicato right nearby -- or that anybody might board the streetcar with plans for Pizza Schmizza, passing up this spot. The price compares to the two above, but the pizza is of another dimension. Loads of flavor that is not simply salt or spice, low on grease, and perfect crisp-tender crust. The happy hour specials of $6-7 for a slice and either a beer or a wine make most other choices within blocks of this location completely pointless. If good food and pleasant service weren't enough, the atmosphere is lovely. In the piazza-style block framed by PSU buildings, with creative brick steps down into a sunken area, with water features ... the streetcar line curving through every so often ... It seems it's always a bit warmer and sunnier than the nearby park blocks. Pizzicato makes the most of this with very generous outdoor seating (and not a single sign warning streetcar-waiters that the tables are for customers only). So if you end up at this stop, and that streetcar sign says you've got more than 15 minutes to wait -- stop for a quick, inexpensive indulgence. With magazines purposely supplied to give patrons something to read while they eat, and free refills on soda, you might end up watching a few go by before you decide to leave. The menu fits all diets, with vegan and vegetarian choices that have always, in my experience, been very tasty. Ample carnivore choices are good as well, I'm told, as are the salads.

Got a meatball panini. It was pretty good. Id say average. Wife had a salami panini. She said it was average as well. Id probably come back when I am downtown, but I wouldnt go out of my way to come here. Ill try the pizza next time.

10 years ago, this place was the best pizza place around, definitely 5 star. Now... not so much. The quality of the pizza is lower and the prices are higher. It's just okay now. Not bad, but not great.

  • Tiffany T.

Got pizza and the pear arugula salad to go from here this week. The pizza was excellent, well spiced, the crust not too thin, the sauce, meat and veggies tasted great. The salad was also very good, I did wish for more pear slices but the candied walnuts added a good crunch, the blue cheese wasn't overly pungent and the vinaigrette was light and sweet. It's great that they have vegetarian options and sell pizza by the slice. This place was really busy when I went around lunchtime. Great Gourmet Pizza and Salads!

  • Matthew L.

Wow, what great pizza! I usually end up grabbing a slice of pizza in my travels to various places, and this is some of the best I have ever had. Pizza by the slice, margherita style. Large slices for a small price. Cool atmosphere and really friendly staff

Wonderful stuff! We are pizza lovers and just moved to the Portland area looking for a delivery close by while we unpacked boxes. Our street is very tricky to get to and so it was a little late...and was still fantastic!!! The owner was actually delivering it and was so professional. We will be repeat, return and regulars of this place! Bellissimo!!!

I stopped by Pizzicato last night for an early dinner. They are open until 8:00 pm but I got there about 6:30 - 7:00 pm. After reading other reviews on Yelp, I decided I had to try a small salad as well as a slice of pizza. I ordered the Chinese Chop Salad (small) and a slice that had meatball, sausage, onion, etc. I also got a pint of draft (draught) beer. It was Pyramid Snowcap, a little darker than I like but tasty. Since it is close to Portland State University, the clientele is more collegiate but there were a couple of families with children dining. The decor feels more like a cafe than a pizzeria. The salad was really good. It was like coleslaw but with a sesame Asian twist. One can get chicken or other protein on top of the salad but it costs extra. The pizza was good. It is your typical east coast style thin crust and even the crust was tasty. It's a good value. I expect it is very busy during the lunch hour. I may visit again next week and try out a different salad / slice / beer.

  • Shawn S.

Call me different, I head to Pizzicato for their Salads... A few tips. Try the Chinese Chop or the Caesar Salads. Both are excellent and are a great alternative to a slice of pizza. The lunch rush is busy and finding a table can be a serious battle. Come early if you want to sit down.

  • Melinda B.

Meh. The pizza here is decent enough, but nothing I'd get hyped about going out for. The crust is great, but the slices are oftentimes too sloppy and the pepperoni is -really- greasy. I only come here for two things: the salads (a lovely garlicky Caesar or the pear-walnut) and the occasional fancy-schmancy tuna salad sandwich. I do want to update this review to add that the service here has MUCH improved over the last few months! The people at the counter have generally been very friendly and warm on most visits. The line stretches out the door sometimes at lunch, so if you are on a time crunch, I recommend going elsewhere at noon.

Mmmm. One of the best pizza places I've found in Portland so far. Friendly counter staff, loyalty program with coupons and incentives to come back. Very affordable and right next to the tram and bus stops.

Look, if you go to Portland State and are hungry, yet only have less than an hour to get to your next class, your options are limited: Basha's cart by Smith Hall (SMSU for you sticklers), the Chipotle on Broadway, the Cheerful on 6th (don't drink too much, though!), or...well, the list goes on and on, actually. But, sadly there is no pizza in that list. Until now. Pizzicato is a chain, but if you want a nice slice of pepperoni or cheese, or what-the-hell ever, this is the place to go. I mean, if you had a superabundance of time on your hands, you'd be studying or sitting down somewhere to eat, right? Or drinking. I can do all the above at once and still take decent notes and not ask stupid questions in my next class, which is much better than the average sober idiot can manage at my university. You go to PSU and are hungry for pizza, eat here. Simple. Simple enough for the average vapid business major to understand. Who said college students were intelligent or functional? I'll have his or her head.

Some of the better Pizza in Portland. Even the small sized greek salad is is filling for one person, though that's what should be getting for $5.50. My only compliant is I feel 3.75 for a slice is a little more than anyone should ever pay for pizza.

It's okay. If I am starving I will grab a slice or salad here but both are consistently just okay. I always leave wishing I had picked somewhere else. I do like that they serve slices and have sizes for their salads but that is pretty much it.

Hey it's pizza, they've got the basic flavors: Cheese, Pepperoni. If you're looking for a place with awesome salads- this is it. Although for an on-campus pizza place the salads and other foods can get a bit pricy. Note: Don't forget to ask for a stamp card- you'll make it worth it if you go there alot.

A solid place for a slice and salad, but nothing fancy. Their spinach salad with feta and pine nuts is one of my favorites. The only thing that bugs me is that, after ordering at the counter, the server will bring the food to your table but they never bring silverware (even when you've ordered salad, which, in most cultures, requires a fork).

I've only gotten the vegan pizza slices- the first one I tried (Argonaut?) was not very exciting, and the second one i got (Thai veg with peanut sauce) was actually pretty good. They have some beer and wine-- pretty standard pizza place, and a good place to go after class.

While Pizza Schmizza is the local chain decked out in bright colors and well stocked with pinball and arcade games, Pizzacatto is our gourmet local chain that takes themselves seriously enough to have an extensive wine list and put artichokes on their pizza. With several locations around town, Pizzacatto has earned a local reputation for making good, high quality pies. Although the pizzas are certainly tasty, the salads are what have really won over my heart. Both the pear and gorgonzola salad and the spinach salad are delicious.

I hauled my weary butt into Pizzacato almost immedately after arriving in Portland, not knowing what to expect. All I knew was that it was near the streetcar stop and I was hungry. Well, Pizzacato, I bow to you. Friendly and attentive staff, prompt service, nice selection and the most perfect crust I have ever had on a pizza, crispy yet chewy... I dont know how they do it, I dont care to be honest, all I know it that it was good...dayum good.

Great salads, ok pizza, and just the worst service. Ordered the Verde salad without onion. Told the cashier twice. When the guy brought it out, onions, lots and lots of red onion. I told him it was ordered without red onion. He walked back to the kitchen and I watched as he picked out the onion with his bare hands. He brought it back out, I told him that I watched him pick the onion out and he just shrugged his shoulders. I demanded another salad to be made, and it was. Only this one was WAY smaller. I dont think they deserve any more of my business.

Good selection of meat and vegetarian pizzas that you can get by the slice. They also have salads and bread sticks (and giant cookies). As with most locations near PSU, try to avoid the 12 o'clock rush.

The pizza is good no lie, but I don't know that it is any more gourmet than anything else. Hot Lips will continue to be my first choice when in this neighborhood but I would certainly go here if someone else wanted to (and you can also seem to get in and out a little faster than with hot lips for whatever reason).

I am currently enjoying a fabulous pizza prepared by the crew at this location. Preparation presentation and flavors are absolutely outstanding! I previously enjoyed the preparations by the Sellwood location and find this to be as outstanding if not a bit more.

I've been to Pizzicato a few times now and think it's about time for me to write a review. This place has saved me a few times when I find myself on the PSU campus for hours upon hours. I really like that they provide ample seating for us students who like to multitask on the eating and school working thing. The staff have always been quick to greet me and then take my order. What is even better is how quick the food comes out after placing an order. Each time I visit Pizzicato I just have to order the pear salad. This is one of my favorite salads in all of Portland! It is arugula, pears, candied walnuts, and gorgonzola cheese. So good! On the days I am extra famished I order a cup of soup or a slice of pizza to go with my salad. I have always been pleased with these items. I have to say that the salad is defiantly the reason I keep going back to this place. If you happen to be on the PSU campus and feeling super stressed , (maybe midterms or finals week) you can order up a beer, hard cider, or some wine to ease the pain.

We landed here for dinner. The pizza was delicious. The crust was crispy, yet had a nice yeasty chew to it. They were very flexible in swapping out toppings to meet our desires and dietary needs. (Our choice was a cheese-less veggie with spinach, mushroom, olives, garlic and artichoke hearts on there tomato sauce.) The location is small. There are 3, 4-top tables and plenty of counter seats. Music was a little loud, and the confined space could make a loud table disruptive to others around them. 3 nice tap selections along with a good variety of canned and bottled beers.

I'm pet sitting nearby. I walked to so I could have a glass of wine while waiting for my order. Then I got to have my pizza and salad with my boss! She's a miniature long haired dachshund. Great, super fast, friendly service. And wonderful pizza and salad.

Pizzacato has always been consistently good. Many pizzas to choose from. We always have them make it for pick up and they never disappoint. Go on their website and they have monthly deals, in August it was double stamp month so we earned a free large pizza of our choice. I only wish there were more Pizzacato's in Southeast Portland. 60th and Division is the only one closest to the Gresham area. Very worth the miles to eat great pizza. Staff are always friendly . LOve it!

My review is based on the customer service of this location specifically, more than their pizza, but don't get me wrong, their pizza is great. I had called another location, which I felt was the closest one, it was 8:45 and they were closing at 9:30. I was quickly told they couldn't deliver to me, and to call the PSU location. I looked up the number, gave them a call, but realized they closed in 10 minutes. The gentleman on the phone told me their delivery driver was out on his last delivery but he could make one more run. I was hesitant about being that "last customer" that everyone hates, so after he reassured me numerous times, and told me, "I'm turning the oven back on... " I made my order, and I sent someone to pick them up to speed up the process. They stayed open just for us, even though they didn't have to. I ordered 4 pizza's off their website, and sent my runner with plenty of cash for a tip, but when she came back, she said the amount left only $3 for a tip. I called to ask if I was mistaken on the prices, and he explained the website doesn't list XL size, which they offer and I had indeed ordered, but based the price off the highest on the web menu... Small blip on the process, but these guys were extremely accommodating, and went the extra mile for me overall. And to top it off, the pizza's were delicious.

Solid quality ingredients for salads and pizza. Thin crust and great dough following Italian tradition. They do great monthly specials with seasonal local ingredients. Salads are great value - sizeable for low price. My go to is the chop salad with teriyaki chicken, a slice of pizza and a pint of local beer. Employees stick around, which says a lot about employee relations.

It's pizza time! I just got out of class and I'm famished! Now should I go to Pizzicato or the Hotlips just down 6th? Look at your watch. Is it after 3? If so, you should most definitely come here. The quality of food is great here. And I'm not just talking pizza. Pizzicato does excellent soups and salads. There is a large variety with great options for vegetarians, vegans, celiacs, carnivores, robots, vampires... But where Pizzicato really reaches its peak quality is Happy Hour. We're talking $6 for a slice of pizza and a pint of craft beer. When you consider that most slices are around $4, that means you're getting a beer for $2. Nice. Between the variety, freshness, and value, this is your best choice for evening pizza around PSU.

What a great experience. Last night, I called in an order to go to be ready for my husband to pick up before the restaurant closed. I'd never gone to this location before. The gentleman who picked up the phone was perfectly lovely, and upon my order not only recommended a pizza topping he thought I'd enjoy, but told me he'd make a single slice along with my main order. So nice. Husband picked it all up as planned....and managed to forget his wallet. we realized this after the restaurant had closed, and frantically called, hoping they'd pick up the line. The same gentleman did, and he had even tried to call me back at my work number! They were so kind and let us run back for the wallet. Oh, and the pizza was delicious. Above and beyond service, great pizza. We will be back.

I love pizzacato ... went there and had a slice of peperoni and it was perfect as usual , my other slice was not so good .... imagine the four ingrediants on the t.v. show chopped were pizza dough , kraft bbq sauce , red onion & pineapple .... this is what the sweet hawaian pizza is ....I couldnt finish it .... whoever invented that pizza should be chopped

I like the pizza. I come here for happy hour (3 pm - close). I get a big slice of pizza and a pint of craft beer for $6. They have a few mainstays on tap and some rotating selections. I always find a beer that I really enjoy.

PANINI HEAVEN! This is where the Panini Gods work. If I feel the urge to splurge (currently a college student=not so rich) or if it is a momentous occasion such as an anniversary, I will definitely treat my bf to a panini from here. Did I mention that the medium sized panini also comes with a side salad? A choice of a classic Caesar that you can dress with their beautiful Cesar dressing or house salad that comes with a thick yummy balsamic vinaigrette dressing. I love the meatball marinara panini and my bf prefers the chicken club. I give this place 4 stars because it does take a while to make the paninis (or even heat a couple slices of pizza up) and we (usually take out) are usually rushing to catch the next max/bus. I will definitely be trying the seasonal bruschetta next!!

Never been to pizzicato before, I've heard mixed things from Portlanders and they seem a bit pricy. Stopped in for a slice and a beer before class only $6. The slice was good but small, a vegan potato mushroom pie with roasted garlic and a Double Mountain Vaporizer. The service was ok, they wanted to ignore me while I checked out the slices, which made me feel like I was hassling them to order. I'll probably be back for pre-class happy hour but doubt I'd get a whole pie.

Have to start off by saying how nice it was to be CHEERFULLY greeted by the Pizzicato employee, Hailey. She welcomed us with a smile on her face and knows the menu well. She also informed us of daily specials and future weekday specials. The camaraderie in this little restaurant is awesome. The employees are working as a team and very professional with every customer that comes in. All customers were immediately greeted by Hailey and she just seems genuinely okay with being at work on this sunny Saturday afternoon. Travis, the manager, was cool and friendly. He even introduced himself to us and also seemed genuinely happy to be at Pizzicato working. Why not be enthusiastic if you have to be at work?! That seems to be the kick ass attitude of all the workers. Ian came out smiling toward the end of out visit and was equally as pleasant as the other two. We will be back. Pizza was good, beer too. But it was nice to be in a happy atmosphere enjoying tasty pizza and drinking delicious beer. I got the Puttanesca slice and my boyfriend got pepperoni with regular crust. Pretty good even though toppings are light. You have the option of getting whole-wheat crust or gluten-free crust. Gluten-free is extra but the whole wheat crust is the same price. Must end by saying great customer service is sometimes hard to find but we found it today and that is in the top three reasons why will return. The other reasons; good prices for good products and CLEAN BATHROOMS!!!! THANK YOU EMPLOYEES!!!

It's a chain, but they do make a tasty slice of pie. I love how they warm the pizza so the bottom is a little crispy. It's a bit expensive for pizza, but the way they heat the pie is absolutely delicious.

I work at PSU and eat here at least once per week. The Caesar salad with fresh-squeezed garlic is dee-licious. The Putanesca pizza has been consistently good for the past 10 years. Some of the staff have been working here for a long time and they seem to like working together. Often very busy at lunch time during the term, but during break weeks and from about 3p until close there is usually a nice clean table and pleasant music when I go there to grade papers. Also a good place for student teams to gather for out-of-class projects.

This place is full of PSU students and Saint Mary's teens but I won't hold it against them :p. I ordered the Arugula Pear Salad and a slice of the Mama Lil's pizza. It was ready quick and was very tasty. Total was 9.50 no drink but I was full. More expensive than I would normally pay for lunch but next time I would order either a salad or the piece of pizza and not both. I'll be back though.

I was very happy with the order I got from Pizzicato which was the lunch special including a drink, slice of pizza and a decent sized salad for 07.25. It's a great deal for the amount of food you get. It took a while to get the food, but it was lunch time and was very busy with customers. The pizza slices are pretty average ranging from 3.00-4.00 dollars for a big slice. If you are looking for a quick filling lunch, I would defiantly recommend the lunch special of the day.

This place truly exceeded my expectations for thin crust and vegan pizza. I know most people love thin crust pizza, but I am a deep dish Chicago-style pizza girl normally. Now I know, if I want thin crust, go to Pizzicato. We came here for lunch on a business trip. I had the lunch combo with vegan pizza with carmelized onions, arugula and a carrot-ginger base. There was probably other things I don't remember on there as well. It also came with a choice of salad so I had the arugula pear salad and a drink. My co-worker also had the pepperoni pizza with Cesar salad. Each combo was about $7.35. At almost $4 a slice, this pizza seems steep, but the lunch combo is actually much more comforting. The "side salad" is a very good portion and overall, this meal is filling. The crust here is so thin and crispy. It comes warm out of the over and is delicious. The vegan pizza and salad were also both delicious. I still prefer traditional pizza with red sauce (I didn't order the other vegetarian pizzas because they all had olive oil bases etc.) but if I was going to try vegan pizza, this was the right place to do it. They also have a nice spread of appetizers and paninis that looked pretty good. The only problem we encountered here was the wait. We ordered our pizzas. They were pre-made and just needed to be popped in the oven but 20 minutes late, we still hadn't received them. We told them we had to go to a meeting and we would be back for them in about 45 minutes. When we came back, they were ready and as an apology, they gave us a card for a free slice in the future. I understand it gets busy but just want to warn you guys: be prepared to wait! Thanks for the free slice Pizzacato! I'll def be back for it and probably more times in the future.

Wonderful customer service, and very kind/patient when I was trying to figure out what I wanted. Server answered questions in depth without sarcasm or attitude. Love that! Especially when traveling to Portland. I had a grinder panini which was awesome, with a ceasar salad. The sandwich was to die for, firm and moist, with some pretty great tasting meats. This is a must stop if you like panini's!

I got delivery here b/c i was being lazy with the rain and they were WONDERFUL. the guy taking my order had this voice that sounded like he was high but was super nice and helpful! I got the vegetarian pizza and side of garlic brocollini. VERY TASTY!

Horrible attention to detail and customer service. They screwed up on our order THREE TIMES......and the THIRD order was the one to make up for the other two!! Even though this third order was free, I called yet again to complain. Will not visit again until they staff up and/or get better help.

I see Pizzicato everywhere in Portland, including within the PDX airport. I only wish they would plop one down in San Francisco. I have to wait a whole year to taste the goodness of their "quattro formaggi" pizza with fennel sausage. Best thin crust ever too - it's perfectly soft and chewy with a sweet aftertaste. Dammit, I miss this place already...

GREAT gluten free menu!! We have ordered Pizzicato for lunch on several occasions at work, and they are able to accommodate my gluten allergy, as well as others in my office with a dairy allergy. I enjoy the caprese salad, and the flatbread (although I with there wasn't such large chunks of garlic, but rather a more understated garlic flavor). Their other pizzas are well liked by my co-workers, AND people rave about the taste of their crust. I would say the BBQ Chicken is a favorite) I appreciate their menu options of salads and apps too. They make a great tasting pizza that satisfies without having to wipe the grease off the slice with a napkin and chase it with some Pepto.

Pizza was good, but could be better. I understand what flavors they are trying to achieve, but did not quite make it. This is a fast service, type restaurant where you bus your tables. However, some people did not do this. During my whole time eating dinner (~30 min), two tables were not bussed by staff, despite walking by multiple times.

  • Nichelle S.

They're not lying. The Caesar salad is GARLICKY!! I ordered a medium and we could barely finish it. The leftovers were placed in the fridge and the smell took over the fridge, so into the garbage it went. Only now, the garlic smell took over the whole house. My goodness! After I ingested it, I waterpicked, floss, brush, ate tons of mint and still could not get the taste out. Went to bed, woke up from the taste still in my mouth -/ yes, it was so bad it woke me up!! More brushing and mints and eating and still the taste persisted. Argh! Never again.

Pizzicato has great crust, and good toppings. It's great that I have a street car stop right outside my door, and so does Pizzicato. Great for lazy rainy days. Love the free slice coupons!

Pizzacato is my favorite pizza! It's the perfect combination of good crust, mouth-watering cheese, and fresh-tasting toppings, including the marinara. It's also one of the few pizzas that reheats well in a toaster oven. It's nearly as good as it was when it was fresh. I love that there are NINE different vegetarian pizzas on the regular menu. Plus, the special for this month makes a good vegetarian pizza if you ask them to omit the sausage. My husband and I have tried all the vegetarian pizzas except for the Wild Mushrooms one. Our favorites so far are the Quattro Formaggi and the Very Veggie. They also have gluten-free and vegetarian options. We had the Arugula Pear salad. I've had better but t's good considering this is a place that specializes in pizza, not salads. This is a good location with friendly staff and a clean eating area. The website says they deliver after 5pm. Also, they have coupons in the Chinook book so check that out to save some money.

Pizza

Pizza is a famous Italian dish savored around the world. The entire credit for the popularity of Pizza in the United States goes to the chain of pizzerias all over the country. While the base and the texture of Pizza remains same across the globe, it's the toppings that differs from country to country. In the United States, you will find the top pizzerias serving pizzas with the toppings of mainly beef, bacon, chicken, ham, and sausage for the non-vegetarians. Other than these famous meat options, Pizzas with veg toppings such as mushrooms, pepperonis, garlic, tomatoes, spinach, etc. are also famous in most restaurants in the United States.

Irrespective of your locality, you will find a variety of different restaurants in your cities offering pizzas of all different types. Pizza is hot favorite among people of all ages in the United States. A large size pizza is enough to feed a family of 3 or 4 at large. Pizza is also the most preferred food whenever a group of friends is hanging out together. Pizza gained popularity in the United States after the American soldiers stationed in Italy returned from World War II.

Over the years, different pizzerias in the United States have developed their own respective regional variations. Pizza gained popularity as the iconic dish in the United States in the second half of the 20th century. Whether you prefer thin or thick crust pizza, you can find a pizza of your preference at the best pizza restaurants in your city.

Italian Cuisine

The immense popularity of Italian cuisine globally isn't unknown. You can find an Italian Pizzeria around every corner of almost every city in the United States. Not to forget that in every house, people enjoy mac and cheese as comfort food. But it would be wrong to believe that Italian food starts with pizza and ends with good pasta as this Mediterranean country has much more to offer other than these two dishes. In Italian Cuisine, there is a high use of fresh tomatoes, all kinds of herbs, great quality of cheese, all types of meat, seafood and fresh handmade pasta. Many find it hard to believe that Italians have been making noodles long back.

Italian and Greek cuisines are always mistaken to be same, but they are poles apart. The primary difference between the two cuisines is the use of cheese in most of the Italian dishes. Italians love to cultivate their own cheese and process them as per their food requirement. It is believed that some cheese is so expensive that cheese producers secure them in lockers.

If you are bored eating the same old pasta or pizza, you can try some of the authentic Italian dishes like Risotto, Polenta, Ribollita, Lasagna, Fiorentina Steak, Bottarga, Ossobuco, Carbonara, Focaccia, Arancini and Supplì. Another item which Italians love to relish every morning is a good cup of Italian Coffee. Once you taste a freshly brewed cup of Italian Coffee, you might not visit Starbucks ever again. Authentic Italian food is made with heart and soul, so go find a restaurant where you can relish Italian cuisine in your city.
