Diabetics at Pizza Hut

Pizza is neither a great meal nor the worst for diabetes. All you need is some fact check and monitoring while ordering your pizza. Diabetics can opt for thin crust or skinny pizza at Pizza Hut and avoid the cheese topping to cut down on the excess fat and sodium. If you have diabetes, then ensure to check your portion size when you order a pizza. One or max. two slices are enough. You can also avoid meat if possible and go for wings as a meat option.

Foods to Avoid at Pizza Hut for Diabetics:

You must avoid Meat Lovers Pizza with Original Pan Crust as it contains over 1000mg sodium and will add 470 calories in your meal. You should also skip Super Supreme Pizza Large Original Pan Slice which is too high in sodium and fat. Chicken wings are often tempting but you must control and restrict yourself from ordering Traditional Honey BBQ Bone-in Wings as it can add up to your sugar levels if you eat too many. On average, a person orders or consumes six chicken wings pieces in a day.

Sides must be avoided at all costs especially if it's Bacon Cheddar Fries with Ranch Dipping Cup for its high sodium content. You must also avoid New York Style Cheesecake with Applesauce as dessert as one slice of this dessert item contains 86g sugar. Pizza Hut also offers other Italian dishes such as Pasta. However, you must skip Spaghetti with Meat Sauce and Meatballs and Garlic Bread as it is too high in sodium and sugar.

High Blood Pressure at Pizza Hut

Fast-food restaurants like Pizza Hut are not recommended to dine-in if you are diagnosed with high blood pressure. Most pizzas at Pizza Hut are high in sodium and hence you must stick to one or max. two slices of any regular size pizza to limit your sodium intake. Try out the salads as they are not only healthy but also keeps you full for a longer period. However, you must ensure that you don't order the salads without any extra dressing.

High Cholesterol at Pizza Hut

Whether large, medium or small, a pizza can boost your cholesterol levels instantly. You shouldn't eat more than one slice of any pizza your order at Pizza Hut. If you're concerned with your high cholesterol, then it is wise to take your friends to Pizza Hut and share pizza among them slice by slice. You can also try pasta at Pizza Hut but ensure that you are not adding any dressing or extra cheese as you order pasta.

This is our local, great location to where we live. Hubby is a pizza fan so is happy to come here a few times a month. Hubby likes the plainer of pizzas, so cheese or pepperoni are always his picks. I like to be a bit more adventurous, and have so far tried the green chicken pie and the spicy thai, both are yum. Glad they do the half and half pizzas so we can both get a bit of what we both like. A medium pizza is the perfect size for both of us. Fav drink special is the mango tango. Good place to go watch all the sports channels at once! Will keep coming back :)

Oh, a "neighborhoody" bar that doesn't give two shits about its neighborhood. I live really close to this joint and can hear its patrons loudly bro-ing out until 3, 4am nearly every single night. It's so consistent that I'm shocked if it's quiet. Some bars remind their patrons to please respect its neighbors... and PS! It's not too late! Put up a sign! "We love our neighbors, please love them too!" Also, the food's bad. Junk food is supposed to tasty but this ain't.

This was possibly the worst costumer service I have ever received in my life. My girlfriends and I came here Friday for a nice girls night out. As we walked in we sat in one of the open tables and waited for our waitress. A blond short girl in a floral dress and fringe black t-shirt came to the table. She looked agitated and stressed, granted place was crowded but, as someone that has experience in costumer service, regardless of how the environment is you must always give a costumer the best experience especially, when they are kind, patient and polite. This certainly was not what we received. Let me start with the fact that unfortunately, I have a life threatening allergy therefore, I am always cautious when I order drinks and food. While I proceed to politely ask questions to the waitress to verify it it was possible for me to even drink/eat here. She started to give me some attitude and said "omg you are like royalty!" First of all this is a HUGE liability for any restaurant and I have the right to ask questions especially when it is a life and death situation. Any restaurant that does not pay careful attention to people with allergies (especially when costumer has alert of such conditions) can be in serious legal trouble. On top of that, to have a waitress say that you are some kind of royalty because you have life threatening allergy is completely disrespectful and unprofessional. Not only that, one of my friends politely wanted to ask if she could exchange her drink, as she approaches the waitress, the waitress reply was "omg you guys are killing me!" What is this?!? I don't even know where the manager/supervisor was located as when I spoke to the bartender and the waitress they were incredibly rude. After this craziness we decided to leave this horrible place. This was my 1st and last time here definitively not worth my time.

Not a really big fan of their pizza because i've been eating it since high school lunch time so I ordered 2 BBQ Bacon Schmozz' Burgers w/ extra bacon the only complaint is the caesar schmaesar salad was pretty small(like 3 bites). Anyways the order was done in less than 15 mins & the food was delicious.

My boyfriend loves coming here for the awesome food and the exceptional service. This past visit didn't disappoint. We were craving for some good ol' grub and they always have great deals on food here. We were seated immediately upon arrival with a friendly face. The waitress was great in giving us our space and time to look over the menu and decide on things. I wasn't rushed--thank you! We both ended up ordering the same thing (that happens a lot with us). The Shrimp Alfredo pasta special ($6) was savory, creamy, and plentiful. With the Blazers game in the background, it was an all around a good experience. Our waitress was on it about checking in with us and making sure everything was good. It was wonderful! Every visit here is easy breezy and we'll likely return for the fantastic customer service and pasta specials.

The pizza was delicious!! Great music, great people. Very laid back place and yummy drinks. I had the mango tango.

Yeah the service epically sucks and the pizza is lukewarm from heating lamps. The happy hour menu changed recently, and is no longer really a good deal at all, just an alternative menu. But that is not why you come here, you come for the 4pm lazy outdoor seating and giant stines of beer. For some reason it feels informal and easy, I've even come alone and read without feeling like I'm hogging a table. My roommate and i separately agree the waitresses are always so annoyed it makes me think maybe it's their working conditions that makes them mad, in which case I hope that improves. But yeah, I'm into summer drinking outside, plus its directly on the streetcar and Max line, so getting home's a SNAP

Server was amazing . served my sister and I and the rest of the restaurant by herself. A one woman show! The pepperoni pizza was delicious!! $3.25 each. Dirt cheap aaand no tax...which means a lot coming from CA. My sister and I are delighted visitors. Also grabbed a drink $6. Forgot the name...but I posted a pic.

My sister and I ordered a medium extremely veggie pizza. While we Understood that we probably will have half of a pizza left, but we wanted sometHing hot and fresh, and the pizza came out just as the way we wanted. The veggie were fresh and the pizza was hot. And we were right, we Had half a pizza left for the next day. We also ordered a veggie Tray (which only cost $3), and a beer. It was so called the Very happy hour, the check came out very affordable. there are more good choices on the Very happy menu that you can easily have a meal here with more save for the drinks. The very happy hour starts after 8pm if you are interested. I also like their TVs, more than What you need if you are a sports fan (which I am a huge fan). The only thing is that service was a little slow at first, which we were not sure if we need to go up to the kitchen to order or someone will come by. But it is the smallest thing you could complain about.

How I heard of this place: We happened to walk by on day one of our five-day stay in Portland, while my friends and I were engaged in an Urban Adventure Quest! The pizza craving hit, and it was right there...so we made our way in. Type of cuisine: "Our goal may not be 'world domination', but it is building Schmizza into the world's leading brand of delicious New York style pizza by the slice served in the kind of place you'd love to go, by servers committed to your having a terrific experience and a great value, each and every time." Ambiance: "This is not just another pizza place. There's a vibe, an ambience, a feeling that you can't quite put your finger on. A happy place - serious about the food and drink it offers. Serious about the customer enjoying a memorable experience. Serious, happy, and edgy. Irreverent. With a name like Pizza Schmizza, the irreverence is palpable...Each store is different and yet you'll always know you're in a Schmizza. You may be greeted by a looming Tyrannosaurus Rex, or sit at a table showcasing a zany array of Pez dispensers. Grab a group of friends and gather round one of the three TVs for some of the best pizza in town. Pick from 25 Schmizza varieties including the traditional Italian offerings, more exotic options (including Louisiana alligator and steak and potato), or the long list of chicken pizzas. Schmizza is a family adventure and kids love the excitement. There are plenty of coloring sheets and crayons. Depending on the location, pooches are welcome on the back patio." What I ordered: In our little party of three, we gorged ourselves on three slices. Mine, the Cheese ($3.59) with a creamy pile of 100% mozzarella & parmesan cheese; the second: Pepperoni, cheesy goodness with pepperoni on top, and lastly, the Green Chicken Pie, pesto chicken, fresh spinach, marinated artichoke hearts, roma tomatoes & feta cheese. Make it a combo with a slice and a drink for $4.99! What I loved: Thin crust, lots of gooey cheese atop and a filling slice o'pie! Why I loved it: Simple, good food served in an eclectic, comfortable setting. Cost: Low ($3.50 - $4.50 per slice)

The pizza is average and the drinks are good. But it was next to my hotel and they showed the warriors rockets game so I was a happy camper. Would recommend if I'm ever back in Portland.

Fun neighborhood atmosphere, great pizza, and great drinks! The Manmosa rocks. Served in a towering frozen mug that will give your biceps a workout. It consists of vodka, champagne, and OJ. A few of these will get you going in the morning, afternoon or evening. They also have a good selection of local brews on tap & bottled. The servers, bartenders, and cooks are all very friendly which seems to make everyone in this place a bit friendlier & willing to chat up their neighbor. Made for good fun on a Sunday afternoon especially since we were visiting from out of town. Pizza is great. I really liked the Genoa Combo, and the Hawaiian is great except I wish they diced the pineapple instead of just putting one ring on the slice. The baked tater tots are crispy and delicious. Just had the plain, but they also offer pizza & cajun versions. The Scmitzy (???) bread was a garlic lover's dream. Delicious cheesy bread seasoned and topped with garlic served with sauce. They also have a number of pasta and sandwich options that both sounded and looked amazing as they came out of the kitchen one after another. Bar seats about a half dozen people surrounded by high tops and 3 TVs. There are booths and tables to the back of this relatively small restaurant with a few TVs lining the wall. They also have outdoor area with picnic tables positioned in a way that you can watch most, if not all, of the TVs.

I ate the food like 3 days ago, and can't remember it. It was that boring. I'm sure it was...fine? If it was really bad I probably would remember that. I will say that the service was horrible. I ordered in for take-out and everyone was rude as hell. I ordered online, and got no notification that they received my order. After 20 minutes, I called to see if it was ready, and they said yeah, it's ready. So I said, okay I'll see you in a minute, and they said, um, no, it'll be ready in 15 minutes. Which was confusing. When I got there, 25 minutes later (I gave them extra time because they seemed confused), it was a crowded, loud bar full of drunk undergrads, and there was nowhere for me to stand while they took an excessively long time to get my food. People kept bumping into me and the staff seemed irritated that I was there. Paying them money. For their product.

Good pizza, good service. New York style because it is sold by the slice, not the thickness of the crust. I like New York style because of the extra thin crust. Not a problem, they were accommodating since I was ordering a whole pie they made the crust super thin. Good toppings and sauce. I will be back.

great hot spot for the college area. Very nice draft beer selection. Speedy service. Pretty good pie, but their best quality is beer choices and hangout factor Even though I am not a young college student, I still can fit it. They had a very busy New Year's Eve - festive with balloons and happy people

Lately, when I've stopped by to pick up a slice to go things have been much better. I'm usually greeted by Christina G., and I can't say enough about the quality service she provides. She greets me in less than a minute, and is friendly and efficient. She gets the details of my order right, doesn't talk my ear off, and has a focused and calm demeanor. It's very relaxing in such a fast paced environment. I can enjoy the atmosphere while I wait and know that she has it covered.

  • Mike K.

I wouldn't say its quality pizza but its cheap and the beer prices are great! The place is pretty busy both lunch and dinner time, I had a room right upstairs at the inn and could hear the crowd noise and watch the people sitting outside from my window, I know...a bit creepy.

  • Danielle W.

JFC. The first time I called they asked if I could hold when I wanted to make a pick up order for so long it seemed so I hung up and called back the guy said he couldn't hear me and said it sounded like I was in a helicopter and hung up. Third time I finally got him and I had to yell into my phone my order. When we got there it felt like a college frat party. Of the 4 people working we couldn't get anyone's attention for at least five minutes and there was no clear area where we were supposed to pick up. I had to stop one of the cooks to ask where we were supposed to go, told us by the bar (why he couldn't help us right there idk, customer service was shit) so we went over there. The bartender was busy flirting with girls and bro'ing with other dudes not paying attention to us at all and had to ask the cook several times if this was our food etc. then we finally got our stuff and didn't see ranch or bleu cheese (we got wings) and the cook was like they're in there, he could have just given us more they just made everything so incredibly difficult and uncomfortable for both me and my girlfriend I will never go back.

I usually love Schmizza, but I've never experienced such crappy service. My friends and I were sitting for 10 minutes in front of the Cash register, and the servers were taking selfies even after we asked them to take our orders. They told us to wait, and we watched them take selfies for another few minutes, then left. Just so rude.

  • S C.

Great neighborhood pub. I drop in regularly for a slice and salad. The staff is always friendly and it feels like stepping into a version of "Cheers." Relatives visited from out of town and I suggested they walk up to the Portland State area to find a place to eat. They said Pizza Schmizza was perfect, slices for the teenage son, salad for his mom, and a steaming bowl of pasta for the dad. Plus pints for the adults. To be clear, this review is for the PSU location. The Pearl location is great, too. The Weidler location is badly managed and the staff is rude.

    (4)
  • Carolyn G.

Absolutely the worst service I have ever experienced. I have been a server and bartender for 20 years. This location needs to clean house and hire servers who don't sit on their cell phones the entire time then try to explain the reason a pizza took 50 mins is because the were busy. Apparently not too busy since we can play on our phone and chat with co workers instead of doing their job.

For our last night in Portland, we wanted to find a pizza joint and thanks to YELP we found this awesome place! Luckily came in just in time for HAPPY HOUR and what great deals you get for HH. Apple sauce shots were delicious! I had the mini schpaghetti and spicy italian sausage link which for a $4 appetizer was a perfectly sized serving for one! Last but not least you need to get the Schmeeazy Bread with pepperoni which is also less than $4 (the pepperoni can be added on at no additonal charge). That is seriously the best garlic bread I've had in a while and I freakin love garlic bread.

Simple but good american pizza. $2.75 for a cheese slice. Friendly pub where you feel at ease. We can watch some sports events on TV. Inside we can feel overall good energy. There is also happy hours but we don't taste it.

  • Matt M.

Great location and great pizza! The inside is somewhat small but they have a lot of tables outside for when the weather is decent enough for that. The beer selection is okay - 7-8 choices on tap but when they lead with "PBR, Bud Light, Coors Light..." you're right to cringe a bit. The choices get better though. There are a lot of great choices for pizza - we had the BBQ chicken pizza and the Don Ho (hawaiian pizza, if you couldn't guess). Both were very good.a Service was very friendly, food was slow to arrive but the server had warned us that this would be the case so we weren't too bummed by it. We will definitely go back here.

  • Chris N.

This place just happened to be open late and nearby where we were staying at. I wasn't expecting much from late night pizza, and I was right. I'm giving this place 4stars based the fact that it was a chill place with a decent beer selection. Since we were there late night, I wasn't expecting super fresh pizza. If that's what your looking for, this isn't the place for you. If you're looking for a drink and something to grub on, then this is a chill spot visit.

    (4)
  • Brent B.

It's a great local bar for locals. Not the best food and certainly not the same hipster scene that a lot of Portland spots have. But, if you want to frequent a place where "everybody knows your name", this place will make you feel at home. There's just something about "the Schmizza".

    (4)
  • Mona D.

TRASHY SERVICE. You may find a hair in your drink and the waiter dares to argue that you should not eat out if you gonna do this each time you find something in your food or drink. The bartender thinks that he is your boss who dares to talk and touch you inappropriately just like what he does with the waitress.

Just happened to be driving by looking for somewhere to eat. Stopped and went in. What a find in Portland. We ordered the cajunator and buffalo chicken salad. Everything was top notch. I would highly recommend this place on food alone. However the atmosphere made it even better! I will be back!

I have never been here or heard of this place until my friend saw it on The Real World MTV television show and came all the way from San Diego to try it while visiting me. Everything started great, we ordered drinks and garlic tots, after 10 minutes we realized our server never asked what size we wanted, they offer a large order as well as a side order, so we decided to ask her. Her response to us was that we never ordered anything from her! Our drinks that we order with the garlic tots never came, some waters and a soda, so we skipped right to ordering some alcohol. Thanks god we got those. The food was great, I had a Cajun pasta which was spicy and had large Italian sausages. My friend had a pizza! But my pasta came out 15 minutes before the pizza did and I was done eating before she got her food. The server came over and asked us, "dos mas?" which we agreed to, meaning two more drinks. But some how only my friends drink came out! We had to ask for everything silverware, napkins, extra plates, waters... Our sever payed more attention to rolling her silverware or talking to the patrons at the bar than making sure we where all set to eat! Being a server myself, her performance as a server was disappointing!! The bartender Betsy was more attentive to our needs than our own server, We should have tipped the bartender instead of our sever.. Betsy was great! With all of that said, the food was amazing and the environment couldn't have been better. With the exception of our waitress Samantha, we loved everything!!

Excellent Pizza, Excellent Service!! I was given a coupon for a free One Topping Pizza. So, I grabbed a friend and off we went. The location is quite the happening PSU location. The place was alive with college kids glued to the 5+ Flat screen tbs all playing Oregon VS Washington game. Thankfully Oregon was winning. We chose a table outside, since it was a great night!!! The service was fast and very friendly. We chose to add a few extra toppings to our free pizza. We each got a beer. The pizza was VERY tasty, we both agreed. Neither of us had ever been to a Pizza Schmizza!!! LOVE it!!!! I'll be back!

This is a great neighborhood spot if you want cheap drinks and pizza! I'm honestly not a huge fan of Pizza Schmizza pizza in general (weird flavor choices and slices are often room temperature). But I really like the wait staff here and overall it's a fun place to hang out. It's also one of the only places open late in this area of downtown. Order a tall beer because it's really cheap and a genoa slice because it's yummy and watch some TV and chat with the staff. (But if you want to come on game day - come early so you can get a seat!)

  • Curtis C.

Popped in last night after a concert at the Schnitz. We ordered a couple of beers, and two slices of cheese pizza. $3 pints of Negra Modelo, not bad. The pizza, however, was not good. Even though the slices were reheated in the oven, they were still so limp and soggy. The cheese to sauce ratio was way off, and I felt like I was eating microwaved pizza. The Schmizza location on the SW Riverfront has the same issues sometimes. If they could just bump up the consistency of their pizzas I would be much more inclined to become a regular.

I haven't been to a "college bar" in a long time, if ever. And if I've never been to a college bar, doing so at age 33 for the first time probably isn't the best idea. It was fine-ish, but it wasn't for me. Had I been expecting a college bar, maybe my opinion of the place would have been different. Pizza Schmizza as a rule is decent at best on a good day (and really bad on a bad day). This was basically just Pizza Schmizza on a bad day. The reason it gets a two star instead of a three is the service. I'm used to poor service from this chain (they generally seem to act like you're bothering them by purchasing food in their establishment). However, it really irked me to have the waitress ignore me (as I joined our group late) for about 15 minutes until just after happy hour ended. Maybe it wasn't intentional, but it felt that way. I definitely won't go here again, but it's not the worst place in the world. It just isn't for me.

My grandmother passed a lot of characteristics on to me. My love of hot tea, my tendency to watch any film with Donnie Yen or Jackie Chan in it (even if it's not translated and I can't understand a thing), and most importantly: my HATRED of wasting food. Let me put it to you this way: the perfect gift for me would be tupperware. However, Pizza Schmizza P & G has helped break me of my obsession of saving food. Because the food is so awful I not only pass on bringing it home, I also pass on eating it altogether. The only reason I go here is because of their outdoor seating and lively scene (which is a huge change from last year, when this place used to be deadsville). However, what has NOT changed is the quality of the food. Still awful. And I'm not being a snob- I can eat pizza, salads, spaghetti, etc... at most bars and be content. The pro is that the place is starting to get busy (which can be fun when going with friends), yet still intimate enough to feel like you're not in a big box chain restaurant. So this place is good if you want to have a good time drinking and hanging with friends, while also leaving some room in your fridge.

Living right across the street, I've been through this place several times. The pizza is very hit and miss, sometimes okay, sometimes it will make you as sick as a midget on a ladder. The drinks are okay. Nothing to rave praises about. The property is pretty cramped unless you are sitting outside. There does seem to be a contingent of regulars that really love the place, so maybe if you can sidle up into that winners circle it could be a horse of an entirely different color. -2 Stars

I've been in Portland for the last 4 days for a conference and the first day I was here I discovered pizza schmizza a couple blocks from my hotel, and although I've passed a lot of good looking places, I've eaten and enjoyed drink here every night since I arrived. Everything I've had has been great, cajunator pasta, buffalo chicken sandwich and the meatballs sub (had the buffalo sandwich twice in a row) . Service was excellent. Will visit again when I come back to Portland.

I really actually do like this place. 1. Sports playing on all the TV's. 2. A FULL bar with great drink specials. 3. Pub trivia night. 4. Staff is friendly On the downside....the kitchen seems slow. Plan on a long wait if you're ordering a sandwich. The food is exactly how you think it would be. Good pub food-not fancy.

Visited Pizza Schmizz on a Sunday afternoon and it was quiet and pleasant. The food was average. Visited again later in the week during happy hour...noisy and the local student crowd dominated the bar. Although this place is three blocks from home I would probably prefer to walk a little further for better food and atmosphere.

Came in close to closing had a couple of veggie slices, brew and a salad. Half way through I realized that wasn't going to be enough. I checked in on Foursquare and lo and behold...a check in special. Buy a slice and a drink and get a free slice! Since I had already purchased 2 slices and a drink...I went up and showed the pizza dude my phone check in...he was like super cool and hooked me up for the free slice...no questions asked.

Great place to grab a beer and have a slice! Came here after the postal service concert. Visiting from Ohio by way of Nashville and had an awesome time. Heck yeah I'll be back!

We like to come hungry after dragonboat practice and it is always so worth it! We usually like to get the same thing: wings and pepperoni with green olive pizza (so good) and they are so nice and will even cut up the olives without complaining. The service is friendly and accommodating and we have never had an issue with any of the staff. We only come during late night so that is all I can speak to- but Tuesdays after nine are great :) Sandwiches and salads are also very tasty. Worth the trip.

90% of the time they have great service. But that 10% of the time it is horrible. The servers are much nicer then the girl. If you are not a super model then the girls don't really care to talk to you. We were waiting for service and to get a piece of pizza and the female waitress was sitting down and talking with a friend or 2, both males. Besides that, they have great drink specials, and some great TVs to watch some football or Blazer games on. They Just are kind of in an awkward place. But the food is always good, the happy hour prices are great, as well as the good drink specials. $3 for a chicken caesar salad is a great deal. Great Pie. 4 stars for the inconsistent service.

This place is great. A good mix of strengths: -Great food -Good beer -Great prices -Open late (1230 or 2 every day but Sunday) -Pretty good wifi -Doesn't get the tweakers and other odd folks that most other PDX late nite spots get -Friendly atmosphere, quality servers, attractive PSU crowd -Cozy seating with a pretty social layout It's pretty hard to find all of that in one place. (I tried, for quite a while). Location's good, too, on SW 4th near PSU with reasonable parking. All in all, a nice spot :) As solid as you're going to find, especially late.

Un-bee-LEEEV-ably fantastic spaghetti! Truly. Unbelievable! (So bummed I live in another city - and can only get back here via an international airport.) Dark pub atmosphere with some outdoor sidewalk seating... fast, terrific service and low prices. Go.

I am from Seattle and was coming down for a couple days to visit family and some friends - and as an out of towner was looking for a good place to meet up but I had several odd conditions Needed to be open late. Needed to have a full bar and food. Needed to be in a central location. Needed to be open to under 21 all hours (we had a 20 year old with us) Needed to be open late the day before Easter. And Pizza Schmizza meet all of my qualities! The service was great, the food was sooo yummy, drinks were strong, and beer selection was wide, it was able to accommodate our large group, and there was awesome kereoke in the back (but I am glad we were sitting at the door, far away, and able to continue our conversations as it was a little too loud for me). My only complaint was that our server didn't ask how we wanted our check split up, and in addition when I tried to say something to her she had already walked away. She ended up bringing one for each of us - when she could have combined a group of 3 of us, and a group of 2 of us. Anyways, next time I am in Portland I will be sure to hit this place up again!

The staff is fantastic! I went on a Wednesday and never once had to ask for a menu, drink, or to order. They were constantly on it and were one step ahead of me every time. Props to the servers / bartenders! As for food... Not sure? I just got a cob salad and it was delicious. Obviously you would regularly come here for pizza... AND for drinks of course.

I still have withdrawal symptoms for Pizza Schmizza's dipsticks ever since the franchise's Gresham store closed. So when I moved into the Cyan PDX apartments across the street from this one, I had no choice but to submit. It's a cozy little place (just don't sit at the table right next to the door when it's cold out..) with a few casual-looking employees with black t-shirts that read "PUB" or "GRUB." We had excellent service and enjoyed our food. There was a surprisingly high number of people in the restaurant, which makes seating difficult at times. But I still love love love this franchise and had a good time at this location.

I love this place. Chicken bacon ranch or the split sausage are pretty amazing. The pizza is hot and delicious, and you can watch them make it while having a drink at the bar. Friendly crowd, down to earth servers.

This has become a regular hangout for me, conveniently located by PSU's Urban Plaza (right on the streetcar line). It's nice to have another bar as an option for meeting on campus and it's a great place to watch sports. I like the atmosphere and the big windows all around that make it feel open and inviting. The outdoor seating is great for catching some evening sun. You could not ask for a more attentive, kind, and generous wait staff. They are very willing to help with benefits and fundraisers and have done a wonderful job accommodating groups for these kinds of events. Not to mention, they have good beers on tap, daily specials ($1 PRB/Coors Lights on Thursdays!), Trivia, Karaoke, etc. The pizza is also pretty darn fantastic and comes in fresh new varieties each day. Thanks, Schmizza, and Andre in particular. You can count on my continued patronage!

I would normally give this place a four star review. I'm giving it five stars because it is hands down the best bar near campus. Their staff is a bit sarcastic but friendly and if you're a regular they treat you like a king. The daily drink specials are super legit, if you're looking for something to do on Sunday I suggest checking out the "Manmosa" a 27oz stein of champagne, OJ and orange vodka. The pizza and food is good not great but if you ask they'll give you a card for $2 slices which is hard to beat. Luv me some schmizza. Also Edwin the bartender is the ish!

The pizza is so flavorful and their ranch is ridiculous! It's a new hang out spot for my friends and I during lunch now. Going to St. Mary's, it's a pretty short walk. And the cheese slices are only 2 bucks, which is helpful. It's also really easy to get there from the streetcar. It's never really filled, so you can always get your pizza in a reasonable amount of time. Great place!

I live right next door in the Cyan so this is more of a place to get a drink instead of eating because they have a full bar. They have pizza, burgers, tots, pasta, wings, etc. I've had all of it. It's all pretty good. The staff is friendly and did I mention the full bar? :) I definitely wouldn't come here on a night where there is a big game, most of the college students swarm the place and it tends to get too busy for my liking.

I just had some of the tastiest pizza I have ever encountered - the "No Kiss Tonight" with Garlic Chicken, Red Onion and Feta on a creamy Alfredo base. The crust was perfect, crispy and chewy and so light. It took us a while to decide, we narrowed it down from 4 to 2 and then finally made a decision. The service here was fast and super friendly, even though we came in in the middle of the lunch rush. They offer free Wi-Fi, and that's a huge plus this close to the campus. I met my friend when she was in between classes. She had homework, and the staff was totally chill with us sitting here and working. I'm just sad that I don't live in Portland, I'll never get to try the other pizzas that looked so good.

Ick. From NJ, so biased - I do recognize that. But Pizza Schmizza's pizza is worse than frozen pizza. Worse than Pizza Hut. Just plain crappy. Really. Really. Bad. Spongy, plastic tasting, fake cheese, jarred sauce ugliness. I'd buy frozen any day over this...

Chill and very casual. Server was alright, knowledgeable about the specials and food in general. Pizza looked great but made the mistake of filling up on liquid before ordering. Got a Caesar salad which was good but came in what was possibly the smallest bowl ever crafted by mankind.

In the interest of full disclosure, I was here to claim a free pizza that was a move-in bonus. The staff was very prompt and helpful, even though I wouldn't be paying a full bill or ordering any alcohol. The food was fresher than what I had gotten at any Schmizza prior. It was also free. I like free. In the event you are not blessed by the gods of Mt. Portlandia to receive such a boon, the food is worth it. I can echo the sentiment that it seems like a very nice place to be a regular. The coupon even said it was a blatant attempt to make me one. You win this round Schmizza.

I eat here two or three times a week, since I live practically around the corner. No other reviewer has mentioned that their wines are not only reasonable (especially at $20/bottle) but are of higher quality than the typical house wines in town, and mostly PNW wines. Everything I've eaten there has been good, especially the Alfredo dishes. Pizza slices for $2 a pop can't be beat. The staff are very friendly and accommodating; weather permitting, sitting outside is nice. I do not like loud sports bars so avoid nights when there are big games on--then it's noisy with the usual obnoxious fans hollering at the TV's. Rarely the juke box is too loud, but not generally. By and large it's a great place to be a "regular."

As I live nearby I've had the opportunity to see this location change over the last few years from Blind Onion, to Gut Busters (not even worth mentioning) and now to Schmizza Pub and Grill. They opened with such enthusiasm and energy but have settled in to sort of a funk. I like that it has a full bar with great drink specials every day and night of the week. The menu is nearly, if not, identical to the regular Pizza Schmizza. You've got your pizza, pastas, some salads and some sandwich's. The food is fairly mediocre and takes too long to come out. They've got about 7 tv's up on the wall with DirecTV sports so generally the patrons are sports fanatics wearing a jersey and yelling at the tv's. They're experimenting with a karaoke night and trivia night. Over all it appears as thought they're still evolving to something. It's a great place to have at your disposal when it's right around the corner but I'm never in here for very long. If it's early and you're in the mood for a quick drink or need a spot to watch some sports with other locals then this bar is great. It's not your final destination though.

Food is really wonderful. I had the coconut shrimp pizza the other night and it was out of this world! Gotta love the bread sticks too. This place is different than other Schmizza locations in that they have a full bar. It's located right next to PSU campus, which is uber convenient to school and the Max. Gotta love quiz night Tuesdays too! It's also great to sit and watch football on Sundays with the boys.

I love the food, but the service is so hit and miss. I have good service most of the time. Keep in mind, as a psu grad student I go there a lot, like at least once a week, and normally the service is ok, but I was here last week and got a dud. There was a football game on, no problem, the game was so loud that me and my friend were shouting to talk to each other, problem. I asked the guy at the bar, a bigger dude with facial hair to turn it down just a little, his response? "this is a sports bar". Um no dude its a pizza schmizza and i dont mind if the volume is up but it does not need to be so loud that I cant hear the person sitting at my table. He finally turned it down a bit, when i tried to thank him he looked at me blankly and didnt say a word. There was group sitting behind me that commented on how rude the guy was and how weird he acted, they also mentioned it was their first time their and that they would not be returning. When your employees suck to one customer, other customers see it, keep that in mind ass. I will be making pizzacato my new pizza and beer place FOR SURE. Im disappointed in you schmizza....

Scale of 1-10 (single visit): 7 Food 9 Service 8 Atmosphere 8 Value This stuff isn't anything to write home about, but if you only ate at places worth writing home about you'd be writing a lot more wouldn't you. The pizza crust was surprisingly well seasoned. I won't go out of my way to go here again, but if I were to run across it and was hungry I would be plenty pleased. I can see how this place would have the potential to become a favorite watering hole for locals though given their friendly keeps and drink specials. Unfortunately I'm not a local though.

Service was amazing and friendly. Food was superb for the price. I order the cajunator with chicken, the spice was bold and balanced with the cheese, defenately need a beer to cool the mouth but well worth it, "vale la pena!!" The bread sticks were phenomenal. All for a reasonable price. If I lived closer I would definitely make this a regular haunt for quicks snacks, pre/post drinking rehab and beers.
