Once your food arrives, the service checks out. This time they did bring the proper dishes to our table. We ordered what amounts to making your own Vietnamese burritos but with a rice wrap. Fun, yummy and messy. You get a bowl of warm water to slide the dry stiff rice wraps into. They soften up and you put them on your plate, then pile ingredients. Then roll and eat. As for the service checking out, that's accurate. No eye contact, no "how is everything." We wanted our waters refilled and it took an act of the ancient gods, and another customer noticing to get the gal to acknowledge us and then fill our waters. Really? One takes your order, two others delivered it to the table, and then you are all on your own. But the moment you are past the door out, a third person has rolled the cart up and is clearing the table. If only the rest of the service was as on top of things. 4 stars for the food, and they will never deserve 5 with this unattentive service.

The great part is: big portions for a good price. Service is fast and friendly enough. Hours are great. Place is airy, not noisy, more cafeteria like. Good place for a group of 4 or 5 to grab something quick. The negative? My personal pet peeve is being charged $. 50 cents for spending under 10 bucks ( easy to do) so bring cash. Also my pho seemed a little on need of sodium. Had to add salt, a first ever for me when eating anything asian. That may be a great thing for people watching out for their health. Over all worth the $.

I think this place is honestly great! I've been coming here since I was a kid with my family and we all love it. The people are friendly and provide quick and efficient service. I never have to wait long for the food so that's awesome because honestly no one likes to wait long for their food. The food is great! I think they have the best pho out of all the pho locations on 82nd. I especially like their rice with pork chop and sliced pork and also their vermicelli salad with fried spring roll and grilled sliced pork. The portions are good and the price is pretty nice too. I highly recommend coming here!

This is ultimately my favorite place to get Pho. Check out the other stuff on the menu it's all very authentic. There are tons of places up and down 82nd that I have tried but I always find myself coming back here. Great pricing, friendly family staff and best flavor.

The woman whose always there is the best! I get pho cravings and this is my to go to place. Whenever I come in she seats me quickly and already knows my order. Special Pho, Salad Rolls, & Avocado Drink Togo. Service is timely, food is great, haven't been disappointed.

This place is photastic! The fried spring rolls are very unique and the best I have ever had. I got the #6 with brisket and steak which was also wonderful. In a sea of pho joints this one stands out.

Whenever I have a craving for Pho, I head over to Pho Vietnam. I haven't tried every Pho place in town, but have been to quite a few. The broth here is head and shoulders above the competition, whenever I have friends talk to me about Pho places in Portland, I always bring them to Pho Vietnam, and they are blown away. The service here is good, and I have also had great takeout experiences, the order is always right 100% of the time.

I came here based on a recommend from Simon Young from The Slants. He suggested the house special pho, which turned out to be a great choice. The broth at Pho Vietnam is fantastic. It is more flavorful than any other pho restaurant I've been to in Stumptown. It's good enough to slurp on its own, but then you'd miss out on the beef slices and sausage that go into it. The Thai basil was plentiful, along with other greens, jalapeno slices and bean sprouts, along with a lime wedge. If you enjoy it spicy hot like me, ask for a container of chile in oil. That rounds out the flavors beautifully. And lets you spit fire.

Delicous platter with assorted meats and shrimp, rice noodles, thai basil, cilantro, pickled radish. Served with rice paper. Everything was very fresh, had great flavor and was a really good deal shared by 2 people. I like the clean interior and great service also.

I have been going around Portland in search of the best Pho, and as of right now - after visiting about a dozen spots, this one takes the cake. The noodles are thin and tender, the broth is delicious and chock full of delicious fennel, and they have a great fresh plate to go along with the soup. So far, the king!

This is the 2nd place I have tried here since we moved to Milwaukie, the first being Pho Huy. Pho Vietnam was pretty good. I definitely preferred the soup flavor here and I was pleased with the fresh Chinese basil they provided along with cilantro. I LOVE cilantro but for pho I really want the basil. I also ordered the "salad rolls" (what we call spring rolls in the L.A. area). I wasn't impressed with those. They did not have the bbq pork which is how I have always had them and they didn't have enough herbs inside either - missing that basil! The wrappers were nice and soft and the shrimp was good but it was just bland without the other ingredients. The peanut dipping sauce was decent. I definitely think it is worth the $6.50 for the large bowl and I am sure my husband and I will return. Then again we just might try a 3rd location. Any suggestions?

3.75 stars ive only had pho twice in portland, but so far, this has been the better of the two, which i guess isnt saying much. the broth tastes a little funky, but not in a bad way. just never tasted it before. the secret ingredient must be dog or something. anyways, it was $6 for a small bowl of pho, which is pricey for that size, but overall i thought it was tasty. would definitely return if it was closer but would not return otherwise.

  • Allen L.

the broth here has a different flavor than what i'm used to in a pho soup. not bad necessarily. just different. they are really stingy with the portions of their tripe and beef tendon. basically one or two pieces of each. that said, overall the pho was decent. and for 6 bucks a bowl, its the cheapest i've found thus far in portland.

    (3)
  • Chris X.

Only place my husband and I go to have pho. Their broth taste so good. It would be a 5 star if their salad roll was good, but it's just so plain. But overall the pho is amazing.

    (4)
  • Ahthee K.

Love the broth here! The only thing that keeps us going back for more. But the salad rolls are not that good. If it were good and had all the good stuff in it, I would of gave a 5 star. But 4 will do for now.

On any given cold rainy Portland day I come here for a comforted full warm belly. I have the habit of getting pretty much the same thing every time. For $12.25 I have the chicken wings and a small pho. The pho is always consistent, rich, and tasty, with the fresh garnish/accompaniments nice and fresh. The chicken wings are super crunchy on the outside, hot and juicy on the inside, and smell the way KFC did in the 80's. Delicious. It's not a fancy place, but it's clean, good, and a good value.

  • Kitty M.

I have tried a few Pho places and this is as good as any but a bit less expensive. The decor is a bit sad but it's clean and the bathrooms are surprisingly really nice. The hubby and I are not terribly adventurous so we get the #6. I also love the pork chop and shrimp combo. The chop is perfectly cooked with a sweet tangy sauce that is delicious. I wish the shrimp wasn't over cooked though. Service is always quick and efficient but not overly friendly. You have to go up to the register to pay when you're done. Basically a decent mom and pop operation that we like to support in our neighborhood. Lents needs more of this kind of business.

Only been here once but was struck at the speed of butt in chair to soup on table ratio of 4 minutes. Very delicious pho. I was struck by how fresh and flavorful the veggie extras were. Recommended.

Do not trust the average Yelp score, this restaurant is sub par. I was in the neighborhood and decided to try it out because Yelp showed 4+ stars and I wanted some pho. The broth was predominately beef bouillon, msg and fish sauce. It was lacking the aromatics and body associated with a good pho soup. The vegetables were missing culantro/saw-leaf herb, with cilantro substituted in its place (less expensive). I ordered the #1 large and the service size was about 7/8ths of every other well established restaurant, small enough to notice but not enough to complain. I am sensitive to MSG and after eating here, I had a headache and am very thirsty. On the plus side, the service and food was very fast, the bathroom and tables were clean. I would consider this an acceptable restaurant for locals in the area who cannot travel and unsophisticated eaters. I will not eat here again.

  • Janyce R.

Easily one of the best little spots to get pho! Been going here for over ten years and it's still great! It's rich, delicious and you always get prompt service. If I had to recommend something besides their pho it would be a jack fruit smoothie.

  • Dana S.

Probably when the restaurant has "pho" in the name, that's what you should order. But we didn't. I got the bun, which is usually a solid choice, and it was really bad. So bad I almost didn't eat it and went to get lunch someplace else. The bun had very few veggies and the ones that were there had seen better days. The tofu and the noodles tasted off, almost rancid. It was honestly the worst Vietnamese food I'd ever had. Maybe the pho is better, but I have no desire to go back and check it out.

4.5! Damn Good PHO! This place reminds me a lot of Pho Vihn off of Fremont in NE PDX. I was greeted kindly when I walked in, was able to be served water, get my order taken and have my garnish (clean and FRESH) all delivered within about 1 min. IMPRESSIVE! The wait for my Pho was no longer than any other place. Except Pho Van... Ughhh The only thing I like about Pho Van is the nice building and the nice landscape they have. When my Pho was brought out it was served to me by an older gentleman with a smile on his face. Super friendly people here! THE BROTH: Hot, comforting, delicious GARNISH: Fresh and tasty and of a nice variety THE RESTAURANT: Clean and very friendly THE PRICE: BEST FOR FOR PRICE I'VE HAD. MY TAB WAS $7.00 FOR A LARGE BOWL OF LIQUID GOLD! I will for sure be back! thank you for the wonderful "i'm fighting a cold" comfort food!

The 16 year old son/server saunders over and slowly takes your order, makes no conversation, and you don't see him again until the check comes. On my last trip, I saw two customers walk out after waiting to place an order. He never came back to do it. But, the prices are decent and the pho is good. I recommend getting it to go.

I absolutely love Pho, and Pho Vietnam has been my favorite Pho in Portland for the past year since I was recommended to them by a Vietnamese server at another Pho place. Now that's a recommendation, lol! The beef Pho broth is divine. Quality beef, large portions. Cannot get enough!

  • Nate P.

I give it a little above average on pho. Taste good and rich. Pho thai nam is good. Don't get seafood egg noodle. I wud recommend to go here for pho only, anything else that is on you !

  • Jennifer L.

The pho was yummy! My boyfriend thought it was only ok. Maybe it was because I haven't eaten in over 15 hours. :P Their broth was robust yet not overloaded with MSG. Portion was skimpier compared to most comparable pho joints. I didn't like their salad rolls and peanut sauce too much though. The skin was sticky and easily fell apart. The lettuce was iceberg. I prefer my salad rolls with green leaf lettuce because it's more flavorful. The peanut sauce need more flavors. The crushed peanut was too chewy. Will still go back for my pho fix.

  • Emma B.

I have grown quite addicted to this place. I crave pho at least weekly. I love that they are in my neighborhood. The food is always delicious. It is usually really quiet when my husband and I come in. Which means we get a seat right away. The owners are very nice and do a great job.

    (5)
  • john A.

I can really only base the 5 stars on the pho and the salad rolls, cause that's all I ever order. I eat pho all over Portland, but this is my favorite spot. They are super quick on your soup and the service is great unlike a lot of other pho houses. I always get the house special, it has everything I love in pho.

Liked the Vietnamese Beef Rice Noodle Soup w/ Well Done Flank. Fat Brisket. Soft Tendon and extra Tripe. (#2) so much last night, I had to come back the next day. Again i put everything in it and slurped it down like i was starving. Next time... More Soft Tendon. Mmm. Meat jello.

My parents and I come here all the time. They actually recognize us and know our order because we've been so much. The owners are very friendly and attentive. The restaurant is clean and welcoming. It's an easy spot to miss since it's right off Foster but its definitely worth the stop! The food is fast and delicious, the portions are huge. I always get the egg noodle seafood pho, my personal favorite. Overall, this place is great in every aspect and very affordable!

I don't go more than a week without grabbing a bowl of pho here. Some of the best I've ever had. I could drink the broth by the gallon, it's so delicious!! House special is a must-have. As far as appetizers they have excellent pot stickers, but you really should order "Space Shrimp" I guarantee they taste as awesome as it sounds. Aside from pho, bun with bbq pork and fried eggroll, or chow fun are both pretty solid choices, but why order that when you could have delicious pho?! Most of the other entrees on the menu are not very noteworthy, but the place is called *PHO* Vietnam right? The garnishments they serve are always fresh, the Tsing Tao is ice cold, and the service is great and greets you with a smile. Food comes out so fast it's ridiculous. Laid back atmosphere. The décor is definitely not out to impress anyone either. There's always a tv playing news up in the corner, which usually irks me in a restaurant, but I find that I don't really mind much here because my face is usually buried in my bowl. Really need to give this place a shot next time you're in the mood for pho!

    (5)
  • Mihal F.

I can't speak to the rest of the food but the pho here is the bomb, as is the young coconut juice. I take one star off because this joint was FREEZING on a cold day, but luckily I had some delish soup to warm me up.

A family owned business. I've always liked this place as the pho here is good. I've always supporting local businesses especially those ma and pa shops. This place is not one of those fancy pho places with expensive decorations or nice comfy chairs. [+] I like this place because it's a ma/pa shop and the portions are relatively good size for the price that I paid for. My brother didn't even need to ask for the $1 extra noodles. [-] The service was a bit slow and the were many uncleaned tables all around the restaurant which can kill one's appetite. [?] I'll be back to suppose this lovely family owned business in the future, but don't expect too much from them.

Located in a strip mall off SE 82nd, between two Space Age gas stations (note, the one closest to the restaurant is cheaper. weird). We walked in and got a big old whiff of fishy odor in the air. A turn off for some, but business as usual for a southeast Asian joint (I have a beef with places that use next to no fish sauce for fear of scaring the white man. C'mon, pour on the stinky!) Food came out very quickly but they either thought we needed a lot of time looking at the menu or were just plain slow to take our order. Pretty good pho with more anise flavor than usual (as commented by others) although I found the broth a tad too sweet in comparison to the all the other numerous Vietnamese restaurants I've been to. $7 for a large bowl of pho (and $6.50 for their house special, which doesn't state what's in it. Mystery meat perhaps?) and $7.50 for the bun (vermicelli salad bowls). I typically order the grilled pork and spring roll combo (#42 on the menu here) and although what I did receive was quite good, either they messed up my order or these were the weirdest fried spring rolls I've ever had. My hubby commented that they tasted like chicken nuggets. LOL Pretty good but still wished the pho broth wasn't so sweet. I might be inclined to try some of the other items on their menu time (which has a rather extensive selection in comparison to say Pho Van)

    (3)
  • Katie S.

Came here twice but got to taste three different noodle soups. I have to say, they tasted GOOD! let's start with the pho. It was flavorful and a good size for the price of $7.50 (large). I mean, I know it might look smaller than Pho Van or so, but flavorwise it surely surpasses many other places. We also had their Mi Vit Tiem and Phnom Penh noodles (dry version) and they were delcious!! I have to give them credit for keeping up with the necessary sides, such as a good variety of veggies and pickled papaya for the duck soup. Overall, I hope they keep up the good work.

My favorite pho that I've found in Portland so far! We always get takeout so I can't comment on the dining experience, but the broth is delicious, an ample amount of everything, and a great price!

Not the best pho ga. Light on veggies, light on flavor. Pass.

  • Christopher K.

I am a fan of Pho Vietnam's broth; it tastes rich and flavorful. The ingredients may not be completely local and organic as reflected in the cheap price, since this is rare in regional Vietnamese cooking, but for what they have available, the finished product is a good one. Growing up in Southern California, I spent a lot of time surrounded by Vietnamese culture near Little Saigon, so I appreciate good ph and bún; everything else aside for me, I can ignore bad location, bad decor, and unattentive service, when the soup is this good.

Set up in what reminds me of a cafeteria, this place doesn't disappoint. Vermicelli bowls are perfect.

Pho Vietnam is my favorite place in town for pho. After trying out over 20 different pho houses in Portland (and over 100 places nationwide), this place is consistently among the best. Their veggie platter is always fresh, the quality of meats and noodles excellent, and they have a nice flavorful broth. I always recommend the house special with extra noodles ($1 extra but you get double the noodle). Prices are on par with other places - about $6-$8 per person for a large bowl of noodle soup or rice vermicelli. If you got for the fresh noodles, their grilled pork dumplings are fantastic. Another good option is the beef stew. I prefer it with rice noodles. It's warm, brimming with flavor, and perfect on Northwest cold days. It was more spices, some carrots, and onions (can also be served with french bread to dip in or egg noodles). But the star of the show here really is the pho. It is 'pho-king' amazing. Service is friendly. It's a family owned enterprise so it's great to have people who know what you want the second you walk in. The rice dishes are ok too, but do yourself a favor and get the house special.

The PHO at Pho Vietnam is always consistent!! The beef is fresh and the broth has a tiny bit sweet kick in it.......my type of PHO!! The Portion is reasonable for the price!! The food normally comes out within 5 to 8 min. I like the fact I don't stink like PHO when I leave the place. I go here at least once a week.....sometimes twice.

My husband and I stopped in for lunch after running to different stores getting school supplies, and it was very yummy! I got the pork and shrimp salad. It had the rice noodles and lettuce and cucumbers underneath. It was very filling and the meat was some of the best I've tasted. My husband said it was some of the best Vietnam food he has ever had. I will go back for sure.

Really great soup and we really enjoy their extensive menu. Haven't had a dish here yet that wasn't great. On our last visit we had their salt and pepper squid and say it is as good or better than any we have had at all of the popular places to order this. I would highly recommend this place.

Pho Vietnam is okay. It's hard to justify going there when a few blocks of travel get you to a plethora of other choices that manage to transcend just okay. The broth is acceptable, but on the occasions I've been there, it just hasn't had the same body that you get with other pho broths - and there wasn't much evidence of a high gelatin content, which any good broth made from bones should have in buckets. I'm a big Bun Bo Hue fan, and all the Hue I've had there was just bland and the noodles were skimpy.

    (3)
  • Brian N.

you have to drive a little further for authenticity but that's okay in this case. they do a good job and have even a smaller portion for when you want pho as a snack. i can appreciate that. much better than jin wah if you're headed into the southeast 82nd area anyway.

"Pho made straight from Vietnam! Um, kind of..." Background: - Good place. - Excellent Pho! - Went there with some friends for lunch. Pros: - Great Pho! - Great broth! - Good service - Fast service!! - Nice place inside. - Good price ($7) Cons: - None. I recommend: - Go here for lunch. - Get the Pho.

  • David N.

A-OK USA. The pho isn't bad, not the best in a 5-mile radius, but it's sufficient if you're just looking for a change in your normal pho routine. The rice special is also fine, but nothing to write home to mom about. It'll fill you up. If you're a fan of bun bo hue, well, it's not the best either. If you're looking for a place with nice decor, don't come here for that. It's more or less the like majority of other pho places in town: humble, which is fine because the focus should be in the food. If you're hungry, this place will suffice.

The environment here is good. Very relaxed and calming. I have had lots of different type of pho in the past and this was ok. A bit on the bland side. But perfect for a beginning Pho eater..... check it out.

I'm a spoiled Chô`ng, and I mean truly spoiled. Being married to a Vietnamese immigrant has its culinary benefits; I've been fortunate enough to experience Vietnamese cuisine from "the inside" so to speak. I've been a kitchen slave for many a Vietnamese home now; from prepping 300 spring rolls for a wedding to the constant skimming of fat off the ubiquitous rolling pot of Pho broth (usually in the garage). I will probably smell like fish sauce and garlic until the day I die. Pho Vietnam is good. The product is fresh and they don't skimp on the important stuff. The only thing I've been even a little disappointed with was the Bun Bo Hue; it wasn't spicy enough for me; but when I mentioned it they brought me some more pepper oil to get it to the right heat. So they don't deserve to lose a star for that. I highly recommend Pho Vietnam for folks who want really good Pho; the broth is perfect, they aren't stingy on the meat or greens, and the service is quick and polite. Now if we can get them to play Vietnamese television rather than PBS, I'd give them the extra star.

  • CaLiLu H.

Pho Vietnam is ok. The pho is ok...not the hearty fragrant broth that I can get from my favorite pho spots in San Jose, but definitely not as bad as other pho restaurants either. My husband and I both got the Pho Dac Biet (Pho Special) and although mine was the small one, it was a pretty decent size. I did like how they didn't skimp on the veggies or the meat. The meatballs were also pretty good. We also placed an order for eggrolls but got some fried squares of meat. Although they were pretty tasty, they weren't what we expected. Overall, this was a decent experience and because it's the closest pho restaurant to our house, it gets extra points for the convenience factor. But the decor is really outdated and there's conflicting noise coming from the stereo and the 2 (or were there 3?) tv's blaring out different sporting events which made me want to eat as fast as possible to leave. Definitely not a place to go if you're looking for a long leisurely meal.

Top Notch Pho. The broth is delicious, the price is great, portions are better than average, and the service is prompt. One of my favorites in Portland

5 stars because they were really nice and they open at 8am because pho is traditional breakfast food. I personally think it's the best breakfast in the world. Pho experience: 4/5 Broth: great beef flavor, no "pho bouillon" added. Would of liked just a little more floral accents from the spices. Clean, straight forward and well balanced. NOT to salty Meat: super tender, not bloody. 4-5oz portion. Well trimmed meat and well cleaned tripe. Tendon was cut a little thin for my preference. Veg/herb: well washed and fresh. Would of preferred culantro (saw tooth coriander) to the cilantro. Bean sprouts crisp, no decomposition on them. Services/atmosphere: Very nice and polite. I was the only white person there, which usually is a great sign. Encaged vietnamese customers more, but I think it was confidence in her English ability. Maybe 3 minutes for it to come out piping hot. Overall: I enjoyed my pho experience. In and out in 20 minutes, but didn't feel rushed. Left feeling good and sat well with my all day. Water weigh looked great in the mourning, which is a great sign that they didn't over use sodium in the dish to make up for lack of skill, technique, ingredients and exicution.

Your standard pho joint. Kind of hidden away, so it's a little quieter than some places can be. I know people who love this place, but to me nothing really stood out one way or another. Standard prices, solid pho. Great if you're in the area, not one I'd go out of my way to hit up.

This place was near where I live so decided to check it out after reading good reviews on Yelp. I've been wanting to find a good pho restaurant nearby and I think this will be my go-to Pho place from now on! It's not the BEST pho I've had but still pretty good. The broth had light but good flavor (no weird cinammon flavor, thank goodness). The salad rolls were good and bigger than most pho restaurants. I got the tendon & brisket pho - tendon was good but little and small... the brisket was a bit dry, but with the right amount of sriracha and hoisin sauce, it's delicious.

PHO PHO PHO. As you may know (oh wait, you may not), my husband and I are doing a Vietname experience (long story) and we also check out new Pho restaurants. So before we leave Portland, we want to go to 2 different restaurants to put in our scrapbook. Yelp and my husband's obsession with the word Vietnam leads us here. The place is pretty typical Viet restaurant. Fish tank, random Asian/news show on a muted television and some really busy workers with not enough customers to justify such activity. My husband orders the Pho Tai Nam (rare and well done) and I order the Pho Tai Gau (rare and fatty). We also order an order of salad rolls. After the usual 6 minute wait, no food. My husband is antsy now. Pho shouldn't take that long (Pho Bac's the Pho God). We receive our salad rolls and we are not impressed. Only shredded lettuce, shrimp and a sprig of cilantro. Hmmmm. My husband tosses his half eaten roll to the side and begin to play on his phone. Not a good sign. I on the other hand, eat it and wish that I had not. We finally receive our Pho (11 minutes later) and I am underwhelmed. No aroma of a good broth and my rare is well not rare. Oh well, another one bites the dust. We eat, we pay and we leave. Nuf said!

This cures what ails me. When I have a cold, I go for pho-and this place has cured my ill twice now. Pho Vietnam is a nice little place-it looks clean and tastes delicious. I always get my Pho to Go. They give all the right herbs here, but they are a bit chinsy on the sauce. Most places give a tiny container of spicy and sweet sauce-this place mixes them together into one-which, messes up my whole ratio because I always measure wrong- Like Goldilocks, I put one squirt too little or one squirt too much which makes it too sweet or too salty-but the tiny containers of each are just right to make that flavor pop. That's a silly reason to hate though, so next time, I'll just ask for my own little containers and squeeze in my own sauces if they want to hold back. I'll have to go back when I'm not sick to be sure the broth tastes as good as I think it does. :)

When it comes to Vietnamese soup, I'm pho-king picky. It's my "last-meal" dish, after all, and I've sampled it near and far. And I thought... just thought I had picked the two best pho joints in town - Pho Hung and Pho Oregon. But a recent trip to Pho Vietnam has me reconsidering... there may be a third contender. Pho Vietnam is seriously on their sauce. The pho broth here is thick and rich and beef-y, but has a lot more of the cinnamon and anise going on than usual. It makes for a more intense flavor but one that has a lot of depth as well. Each bite has action from the front to the back. The bowl comes out piping hot (as it should). The noodle and beef portions are par for the course, and the quality of meat is ditto. At $7.50 for a large bowl (Pho Oregon just upped theirs to $8.45!) I find it to be on the more reasonable side of pho pricing these days. And while the location is not optimal (in the Top To Bottom strip mall on Foster and 82nd), the quality of the pho would draw me out here again. I need to make my way through the pho offerings before I can launch that coveted 5th star, but damn, this is some pretty impressive pho. Pho real.

4 stars for the food, the ambiance gets a 3. I had the #5, it was excellent. Also ordered the salad rolls but they were not very good. My friend had potstickers and loved them. The service is ok, plenty of parking.

My go to pho restaraunt. Wish they had more TVs though because I usually find myself here on Sunday mornings. If you have a hangover say no more, the large super bowl should rejuvenate you.

We had Vietnamese food for the first time here. This place was recommended to us by a Vietnamese person. It is clean, with good service. The food was delicious and the prices very good. I would highly recommend this restaurant to at least those trying Vietnamese food for the first time.

In the hunt for some good pho in Portland. This one? No good My wife and I felt like some broken rice or pho early in the morning. So we drove to a few places that led to bad addresses in yelp and ended up with this one. So we went here. We ordered their sprimp spring rolls and it was the most horrible tasting spring rolls I ever had! They used expired bagged American shredded lettuce to wrap inside their spring rolls and it had no flavor at all! Pissed me off.. all you can taste is freaking lettuce. Not good at all! The main part came, when we got our pho. I ordered a large pho tai nam and my wife had a large pho tai gau. The broth tasted beefy, no cinnamon flavor, that is a good sign, but it was ok. I put in some hoisin and lime and it tasted ok. The meat (specifically brisket) was hard and was sliced too small and long instead of wide and long. The noodles were not even done. Not enough green onions, cilantro and actual onions in the soup. This place is no good for pho!

I love this place. Their vietnamese makes pho oregon and other competitors, seem like a product of a childs toaster oven vs a professional chef. Dramatic I know, but this compliment is well deserved. Hot pho, open early, closed on tuesdays just so you know, great service, family run, red bull and budweiser as well as thai iced tea and Vietnamese coffee. I love the #64 meat roll you can wrap yourself. I also love the egg noodle seafood soup. Lower prices and better food. Enjoy the fake flower decor and soap operas on the TV while you taste some of the best pho in Portland.

6/5/07 ok i change my mind. i came here before i had pho nam in hillsboro and thought this place was the spot, but it really isn't. there's something missing in the soup -flavorwise. there's not enough noodles and meat for a large Pho Dac Biet (the special). and i discovered a large only means you get more soup, and thats it. also since the last time i came here, they raised the prices by 50cents. ok doesn't sound like alot, but it adds up. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- man do i love hole in the wall places. Everyone i've talked to doesn't like this place. but hey, i don't hate. especially for $5.50 for a large bowl of pho its not that bad. And i'm vietnamese so i'll tell you if its worth the money and the trip out. Yes we're willing to drive from beaverton to eat here. for a $5 meal hell yeah. We also reeked like hell after eating here, which i do love. i like to think the person sitting next to me in class is thinking "goddamn wtf did that fat pig eat?! she needs to shower!" blah blah blah blah i'm not there for the decor or the enviornment. actually it feels like a regular pho place to me, so why would i need to pay a dollar more for them to turn off the lights so i can eat pho in the dark like other places i won't mention.
