On my birthday I was a few days into a nasty cold. My only birthday request was to buy a mattress, and check out this top-rated Pho joint on 82nd. I don't make my way to 82nd often, but since I was to eventually end up at Ikea, it seemed worth it. After having lived in Vancouver, BC for some time, I'm always searching for something comparable. We started with the shrimp salad rolls which were quite tasty, and I liked how the peanut sauce was different than the peanut sauce a lot of other places serve. The Pho was a bit hard to navigate, but basically there were 20 different combinations of beef Pho, all pretty much the same but with different cuts of meat. I think I ordered one with the lean brisket. It came out with a ton of veggies and basil, and it was super tasty. Aside from the fact it was tasty Pho, the server was really sweet. He asked us how we found out about them, and we told him "Yelp" and then he pointed over at another couple and said, "Them too!" Next time I drive down 82nd I will for sure stop in for some tasty Pho.

The pho here was just what the doctor ordered. Flying in to Portland on a pouring day was not fun. I was cold and hungry so my friend and I decided to get some pho nearby our hotel. I think this may have been the best pho I've had in Oregon thus far. My beef was delicious but the flank could've been less fatty. I would come back for more if I was in the area...most of the Pho places are in the NE area of Portland, not the SW area sadly.

I go this place at least 3-4 times a month. I've been to several pho restaurants by far this is the best in town. Foods are very consistent, and service is outstanding. Luckily get to know the owner from very first visit, he greets and serves every customers with smiles. All the staffs are very friendly compare to other Asian joint(??). #40 & 8 are my favorite. Only complain that I have-not really a complain-they have a small parking lot so you might need to park on the side street on lunch time.

I was very impressed with food in this place. The pho broth was very good. I'm like wow! I still dream about it and wish I could find a place like this in New Jersey. If I didn't live out of state I would make is a regular spot. The grilled BBQ Porkchops was also very good. Cooked perfectly, not rare or burned, but seasoned and marinated to perfection. The staff was very courteous and accommodating. The place is decent and clean. If i were to come back to Portland, I would visit again.

oh yes yes yes YES YESSSS YESSSSSS YEEESSSSSSSSS!!! *DO* come and spend your money here, because I'm kind and want your hard-earned paycheck to be spent well, and elicit many smiles, burps of joy, and giggles of satisfaction! The stuff here is great... We ordered up the sky in this remoteish, ostensibly Vietnamese northern portion of NE 82nd Street.. waaay north of the more dense Asian establishments. On the east side of the street.. look for the industrial looking building and the high-altitute sign! From the apps to the fresh pho, to the desserty drinks of jelly and red bean... mmMMMMM! Thumbs up!

This is probably the best place for pho in portland. The staff is freindly, the place is ordinary, great for crowds or large parties. The pho is very good and hits the spot. I have to say they have some of the tastiest broth.

Just like any other pho place!!!

Having tried nearly every pho place in Portland, this is the one we keep coming back to every other week. I've had most of the soups and several of the bun dishes. All of it great, fresh, and enough for 2 meals. Best in town!

If ever on death row and I get a last meal request, it will be Pho bowl #1 from Pho Oregon. The. Best.

I've eatin here multiple times and my last vist will be that...my LAST. This place sets a new low for service...even for an Asian restaurant. Always get orders wrong, ask for extra side veggies and they basically said no. WTH!!

I've been here to this specific location for as long as I remember, when growing up with my family and now that I'm by myself, I still come here, it's got to have been at least 8 years since my first visit, if not longer. I'm Vietnamese but I was born in America, so honestly a lot of the pho tastes the same to me, but my parents who came here in the 70s can taste the even the smallest difference! With that said, this place is great for lunch and dinner. The prices have gone up over the years, but what commodity hasn't? A few of the older waiters know me since I come in so often, and the atmosphere is great. The service for the most part is usually great, however there are times when they're busy that the servers tend to overlook you, though I'm sure not purposefully. The location has a decent sized parking lot, considering it shares the lot with a few other stores. Inside it's a decent sized restaurant, in the back are tables that can seat up to 20 if you wish, and there are smaller tables seating 2 in the front. I remember coming here with a party of at least 12 so they have no problems dealing with it. The tables and floor are mostly clean, and the utensils look clean also, though some of the condiments do look a bit old at times, as if they haven't been replaced recently. The food is great, I highly recommend any of the pho, and the bun rieu is pretty good also, though I don't feel the rice plates are worth it here. The vegetables are always fresh and the portions are fairly generous. Overall I recommend this place to anybody, from a pho newbie to the most seasoned expert. The food is fairly fast unless it's absolutely packed, large sizes, good parking, and decent prices.

By far the best Pho I have ever had...ever! I have had Pho all around the states and nothing compares to the broth I had in the beef pho here. Everything was extremely fresh and top quality-especially the basil & mint. I can't wait to go back again and again.

Great, inexpensive, pho. Super friendly staff. This is the only place my boyfriend get our pho now after trying several in the NE area.

  • Rick K.

This place probably has the best tasting broth here in OR. I ordered a Pho bowl w/ round & flank steak. The flank steak was really fatty which was my only issue, other than that everything tasted amazing! My only other issue here is that it was either $8 or $8.50 which is a little on the high side for a bowl of pho. We will definitely visit here again when we are in the neighborhood and hungry for pho

  • Ashley C.

Best pho all around town. The space is spacious and very noisy, but the pho will drown it all out. You can't get a better bowl then here, even if it's more pricey then most, it's well worth it.

On one of those dark, stormy, snowy nights when, thankfully, the car was running & had chains properly installed, we headed out for some relief from cabin fever. Thank you, Arctic Blast 2008! We ventured over to the NE for some pho & this spot was tasty, accommodating, friendly, and had terrific service. We ordered the fresh rolls, both vegetarian and meat versions...I preferred the veggie. The accompanying sauce was peanut-y, spicy, and had a good kick to it. The boys insisted on some sort of birds' nest crunchy noodle business that was NOT muy authentico...They loved every bite. Big Man & I opted for some pho ga, resplendent with all sorts of add-ins to customize our bowls. We ordered a' large' & split it...if you like to eat a bathtub-sized quantity of soup yourself, then this is for you. Otherwise, stick with the smaller portion. I have had more flavorful pho, tho' I will say everything here was perfectly acceptable and the service was so sweet. The proprietor just seemed so darn puzzled when we told him we had moved to OR from San Francisco...for reasons not completely understandable to me, this really threw the man for a loop! He kept asking us questions about San Francisco, the Vietnamese community there (as if we'd really have any understanding...), and general info. Maybe he's considering expanding beyond Oregon?? Anyway, this is a solid place to investigate, and seems very authentic. Some of the items on the menu are most assuredly for either the adventurous, the curious, or the true connoisseur of Vietnamese cuisine. Worth the drive over here!

Damn good pho. The broth was good - had lots more flavor than the other places I've tried. Plus, the meat (eye of round & lean brisket) was good - the brisket was especially flavorful. My hubby had a vermicelli bowl that looked delicious! I almost wished I could trade meals with him but I tasted my broth and decided against it. He said it was very good. Oh, we also ordered some spring rolls with I thought were ok...nothing extraordinary. However, I liked that they served it with a nice garnish of lettuce, cucumbers and pickled veggies which I ended up eating along with my big bowl of pho! Good stuff - I want to try more off their menu!

Yes, the pho is good here. BUT within the past 6 months, they have raised their prices not once, but twice, and a significant amount each time at that! i do like their broth the best, but always pay for it later; i suspect they use an insane amount of MSG in the broth. maybe 3 hours after eating their pho, my throat cramps up and starts to hurt so bad i have to suck on some sort of cough drop for an instant, quick fix. their hu tieu dai is the best in town. ***the owners do NOT split the tips with all their employees so DO NOT TIPPPPPPP...or only leave like a dollar! i think it's so horrible that these people work their asses off, i have talked to some and they say they are required to work 10-12 hour shifts and NO TIPPPP. that is NOT OK.

My favorite pho restaurant in Portland. Likes it that they keep to their roots and not like Pho Van where they forgot where they came from and who made them successful. My favorite is Pho number 1 and the nem nuong cuon! The bun thit nuong with cha gio is also delish!

    (5)
  • Cvetiliana B.

I guess I am in the minority because to me the Pho was too greasy and not more flavorful than other pho's. And why is it if I order round eye, brisket, or flank the meat looks more like fatty brisket? ALL of it was white, ALL fat, where's the beef!?!? It's like that old Burgerville commercial or whatever chain it was, "Where's the beef?" The fried rice and lemongrass pork was pretty good though no different than anywhere else. Can't recall if they have egg patty or not, I am thinking it wasn't on my plate and I do love those. Sometimes they come with lemongrass pork in some VI restaurants. The menu is huge but I always order the same regular stuff you find everywhere so I don't much care about that, nor the riskier dishes. The atmosphere is not great, kind of like a cafeteria with dirty carpet and the staff don't understand me, that's all fine I guess if the food was as great to me as it is to everyone else. Meh.

  • Morgan J.

The food here is pretty authentic, we were one of the few nonnative Vietnamese which is a good sign. We started with the salad rolls. In every other Vietnamese restaurant that I've been to, they've been called spring rolls. I'm not really sure why they went with the name salad, it could be mistaken for vegetarian with a name like that. They definitely have shrimp and pork in them. We then got the vegetarian pho which was so-so. It had tons of veggies ranging from bok choy to broccoli but the broth was pretty bland. Once I added the brown sauce, it tasted better.

I'm giving Pho Oregon 5 stars, because I don't think you can get better Pho in Portland. The staff is nice, the food is excellent, and the prices are great. If you like Pho, you have to try it.

I got the #1 special. The noodles were good and the meat was a bit chewy. the service was quick. The broth was ok but on the bland side. the beef broth wasnt all there. Its a good quick lunch.

Based on the yelp reviews for this restaurant we decided to go to this place that is near our motel. My girlfriend and I split an order of the salad rolls and thought they were also very good, especially the sauce that came with them. I don't claim to be a Pho expert, but compared to the few I've been to in the Bay Area, the Pho here tasted as good as any I've had. The menu selection here, however, is much larger. Too bad we don't live in this area. I wish I could come back sometime and try other items. We were happy we went and want to thank the other reviewers for recommending this place. However, I have to ask you guys how you all came up with 5 stars? Assuming for the sake of argument that this is the one of the best Pho restaurant on the planet, it is still just a Pho restaurant. Are you saying this place is as good as a Michelin 3-star restaurant? Of course not. It isn't even remotely in the same league. Are you saying that you have one rating system for Pho restaurants and another for world famous French restaurants? If that's the case then there is no way to compare the rating of one type of restaurant to another. The problem is that yelp has no rating standard. Still, to give this restaurant 5 stars makes no sense. I'm giving this excellent Pho restaurant 3 stars. Compared to other 3 star restaurants I've reviewed, I'm being generous. It certainly is not as good as the restaurants I've rated as 4 stars and not remotely the quality of the restaurants I've rated as 5 stars.

Pho is my favorite food, and Pho Oregon is the best place to get a bowl of great pho. Good prices and the salad rolls are almost better than the soup.

  • Devon D.

Pho Oregon really satisfies my Saturday Pho-ing. After a heaping bowl of superlative pho and unique spring rolls, I couldn't possibly eat another bite, but still find myself eyeing all the tasty looking plates coming out of the kitchen. For your pleasure, I hope the honeycomb tripe and brisket end up in your gargantuan pho bowl.

  • Daniel H.

To be honest, I don't want to share the secret of how good this place is. So I won't. It's awful and you should all stay away. Go eat at one of those other pho restaurants that I've heard everyone talk about cause those are obviously better than this one. Especially those reviewed by white people cause they apparently know what they're talking about. Stay away... this place is ours.

My favorite pho in town! Best salad rolls and excellent pho make up for service that can be curt and not-so polite.

  • Matthew R.

Good food at good prices. Restaurant was very clean and the staff was fast and friendly. We had Vegetarian salad rolls, which had an interesting fried tofu and a typical Vietnamese dipping sauce. For Pho, we each had the #11 with meat balls. The broth was very good and there was plenty of meat. The meat balls were a bit plain and rubbery, but additional Sriracha made up for their blandness. The vegetable/herb condiments were very fresh and had great flavor. All in all, it was a good experience. Two orders of salad rolls and the two orders of Pho (with added meatballs) came to $26.50. We'll definitely be back as the weather gets colder.

After running around to various Pho restaurants with my Vietnamese friend (who REALLY knew her restaurants!) Pho Oregon has emerged as top quality. The service is wonderful. If one can't understand you, another is usually by that can, so you are well taken care of. I go in as frequently as my budget will allow. Yes, they are a little high, but quality costs, and their quality is marvelous, so I don't mind the extra pennies. There is a large parking lot to the north of the small parking lot, so parking is never an issue here. I usually get the #16, and they get to know their regulars, so I don't have to even see the menu to choose. They always ask before placing the order, which is nice to not be taken for granted. I have taken several friends there, and they too have succumbed to the quality of Pho Oregon. I would suggest it to anyone that asks, and many times to those that haven't! Top quality, top service, top ambiance!! In fact, it is almost lunch-time...

I've only eaten here once and it was fine, but the fact that Pho Oregon is the first restaurant that shows up when you search Yelp for "cheap hookers" makes it a no-brainer 5-star recipient.

    (5)
  • Josie V.

This is Pho done the right way! The broth at this place is amazing and they serve the right greens. There a lot of pho places that skimp out on certain greens because they're serving the non-Vietnamese crowd. It's also a way other place cheap out their pho. You know when the majority of the place is Vietnamese people that it's at least decent. I've never had anything other than Pho here because it's what you eat at a place called Pho Oregon. Although one day I will branch out.

  • Daniel P.

Love this pho! Best we have found in SE. Great flavor and more veg and better meat than any other place. We call ahead and pick it up on the way home all the time. Great winter or cold remedy or just good, cheap, great food. Worth the drive.

  • Gregory P.

This is the place that I compare other pho restaurants to. The broth is always piping hot and consistently delicious. I order the beef and tendon pho; the tendon is the perfect chewy texture and there's plenty of it. Prices are great, service is good.

Had the Pho Oregon and some of the Goi Cuon Salad rolls, we ordered take out my last night in Portland with my brother. The Salad rolls were excellent, the Pho was outstanding! Definitely a must when in Portland. The service was very good, sat at a table while our dinner was being cooked, they served tea while we waited, hows that for service! Yummy my brother said he will be back, I will be to the next time I visit!!!

Awesome pho in a cafeteria setting. It's good, it's cheap(ish), and it's really hard to get information out of the waiters. Tried to identify this tasty looking green onion concoction through conversing with the staff, but they kept thinking I wanted rice or spring rolls. Better luck next time. This is no-nonsense vietnamese food. And they do a kickass weekend crowd. Daytime.

  • Huong T.

My all time favorite pho restaurant. They serve real authentic pho that is made by Vietnamese people for Vietnamese people. My family loves ordering take-out from here. In fact, the manager recognizes my mom's voice when she calls, and already knows what she's going to order. They are that friendly! They open even during snow storms. My parents used to live close to there, and one snow storm, my dad walked through the storm and they were open! Nothing tastes better than a hot bowl of pho from your favorite pho restaurant. Unlike other pho places, you come in and see other Vietnamese people eating there. Most people don't like eating out at pho places, because they obviously think their home cooked version is better. But the fact that they come here shows you Pho Oregon's food is good enough to attract other Vietnamese people. My friends from across town tell me they travel over here just for some good Vietnamese food.

My most favorite place for Pho in the city. I walk in and it is time to turn up the heat. The broth and amount of meat in the Pho is always perfect. I love to finish up with an avocado smoothie too, who knew. I may have to get a bowl of goodness tomorrow.

Visited Oregon for the first time and a relative took me here. I had the pho ga and it was decent enough. If this place was down in orange county, I would give it a three and half. The restaurant was large and the service was fast. I probably would go here again if I visited. However an "OC" boy like me is spoiled and has high standards.

i come here to get pho when im lazy to make it at home. =P no but i do come here when im in town, its been one of the main places i go for pho, theres also a little deli next door to get vietnam sandwiches! + +

ok. the best pho place in oregon. but only marginally better than pho hung in beaverton. ive tried 8 (9?) pho places in pdx and THIS is what you call authentic pho. plastic cups, plastic chairs, funky smell.....you know it be authentic. but why are you only located on 82nd? that is SO FAR.

  • Crayon S.

Definately one of the best Pho restaurants in the entire Portland metro area. It's comparable to the Pho restaurants I've regularly gone to in Los Angeles. The soup is flavorful. The tendon has the perfect texture. The beef flank is flavorful and soft. The brisket is oh so tender. The salad rolls are excellent too. The peanut dipping sauce is good too, as it has a little bit of spice in it for extra flavor. The avocado smoothie is great as well. Perfect consistency, and just the right sweetness.

  • Sam B.

As we were told- if you want pho, go here. Gots a weird name but also has the best pho in Pland, so far, and we've had a lot. Note my fellow pdxers, Best means authentic, not humongous. Probably priciest in town, too. I think it was $9? But they do have the right herbs. Spring rolls, veg, also good. Slightly creative. Kid friendly and lots of space. Sucks that the entrance is off of busy 82nd though. Take your oxygen supply.

  • Michael V.

Pho comes from my motherland, so of course I'm going to love this stuff! Overall the bowl was pretty good except for the fact that I was lacking in the meat department. I ordered what I always do when going to a pho restaurant and that is the plain and simple pho tai (slices of round steak). I just can't handle the extra nonsense floating in my bowl (brisket, tendon, tripe) blehh.. Not sure if they use MSG, but I didn't get a headache or feel like I was about to fall asleep afterward, which is a plus! The service wasn't really good since they only refilled our water once after we had to ask them. The woman who rang me up, however, charged me for a small even though I ordered a large, so I guess I can't complain much.. Based on the pho itself and not so much on the service, this place gets four stars in my book!

  • John T.

So with it being new years and i was craving pho i was able to go this far to get it. I was surprised how good it is. The spices wasn't overwhelming. my friend has the pho ap chao which is a fried noodle with veggies and mixed proteins. He enjoyed it even though he's a picky eater. This place is now the place i want to go for pho, when i do have time.

    (5)
  • Jav V.

Pretty good I guess. The brisket was good. The broth required a good bit of added flavors to actually taste like very much. I'm beginning to wonder if there are any nice Pho restaurants or if maybe I'm just really not into Vietnamese decor. I did learn the word pizzle out of the whole experience.

    (3)
  • Enrique B.

Meh. I ordered the Pho Special, which only comes in one size and costs $8. It had a lot of meat but not enough noodles. I also ordered an avocado smoothie, which I usually order at Pho restaurants. It was super small compared to the other places I've been, and yet priced the same ($3.50). So these are the reasons why I can only award Pho Oregon three stars.

My husband and I were in Portland for a weekend getaway. It was cold and dreary and needed something to warm us up and get our Pho fix. On our way to the airport, we found this place and we were very satifisfied. The soups are excellent and comes in huge portions. I had the fried salad rolls, which were also good. I would definitely go back to this place if I ever visit Portland again.

Great noodle soup and fast attentive service. I got the recommendation from my Vietnamese pedicurist Hein (see Lily nails review below). She was soooo right. They also have some amazing Chinese (yes, Chinese) bread to dunk in your broth. If you like Pho you should go...

My dad prefers this pho place over any other pho place in Oregon. I do not know why. Maybe because its located in this temple like structure. The broth is very good. Located on Sandy where are the Viet peeps do bizz.

Very good pho. The broth is very good. It's not watered down, and it has a good flavor without being too meaty/heavy. Portions are good and the value is excellent. I haven't tried the non-Pho items.

This is the best pho place I've found in Portland. It's in a funky neighborhood, and the building architecture is like a snake with a rattle - it screams, "keep away." I grabbed a snake bite kit and went in. The dining area is a single room; more of a mess hall than a great hall, full of matching tables a chairs. I first thing I noticed was the friendly smiling face of the man who greeted us. The place was full of Asian people, which is usually a pretty good sign that the food is good. The second thing I noticed was the smell of disinfectant. I ordered a bowl of vermicelli noodles with vegetables and fried shrimp paste with sugar cane. Let me tell you, as soon as the bowl was under my nose, I didn't smell or taste anything but great food. I'm going to gladly spend some time going through their menu.

New to Portland. Vietnamese man in search of good Pho. Drove by and saw two Asian looking thugs walk out. Figured these thugs would not put up with bad Pho. Came back later during the week to give it a shot. Lots of Asians; good-good-good. Pho came out; meh-meh-meh. Greens were adequate. Broth was average (but came out piping hot). My gripe was with the meat. Tasted fine but was not butchered to size, leaving one long/big piece of to contend with. Also, more meat to noodle ratio (very bad in my book). The staff was very nice when I queried them for a place to nhau (meaning a place to get drunk that serves Viet bar food). I might try them again for their other dishes.

Pho Oregon was enjoyable, but I'd be more inclined to return if the pho were $6.50 rather than $8.00. To me, $8.00 is too much for pho, despite the attempts made at Pho Oregon to be more upscale. And I didn't think the pho was quite as good as it is at my local $6.50 a bowl joint. Still, I shouldn't complain too much about the price. The pho was tasty. The coconut drink was a real young coconut, rather than the usual stuff that comes from a can. And the pork & shrimp bun was seriously delicious. My 5 year old daughter and I ended up practically wrestling over the last skewer of pork. (She won, but only because she's cute). Ambiance-wise, Pho Oregon reminded me of one of the larger, dim-sum serving Chinese restaurants: something about the chairs, decor, herd of servers, and paying at the front as you leave. I was a touch nervous about a large vase that was perched on a ledge right above our heads. While I was waiting for our food to arrive, I developed a plan for saving my daughter from the vase in case of an earthquake. Fortunately, my plan was not needed. But I think I'll ask for a different table if we go back.

Pho Oregon on NE 82nd is just about the best beef pho I have EVER had -- hands down. The broth is among the most richly flavored there is (which means they're simmering bones authentic-style and not short-cutting it with store-bought broth- a plus!) But to say you've had the beef pho at Pho Oregon is not saying much, as they 21 different beef versions of their ph0. Ranging from the King of all beef noodle soups, Pho dac biet (which loosely translated means the whole kit and caboodle) and comes one size only (Large $8), to an assortment of combinations using fatty brisket, flank, skirt steak, lean brisket, round steak, tendon, tripe and meatballs all the way to Pho nuag pin (or pho noodles with pizzle, which is beef or ox penis- I can safely say I have not tried this one!) My favorite is the #12, Pho tai chin (noodles with slices of round steak and lean brisket) I recommend getting it with your round steak raw on the side. This is the most authentic way to eat it and the most delicious as your beef can get to your idea of perfect doneness, being added slowly to the hot broth (which cooks it) and therefore cooked to your liking. A squeeze of lime, a few jalapeños cut by the tableside scissors they provide and a squirt or two of Sriracha hot chili sauce or plumy hoisin and you are transported to another world. (Hint: try the salad rolls stuffed to the brim with veggies, mint, pork and shrimp- Yummy!)

If you like MSG The Pho here is very good. I do get the feeling that msg plays a large part in that but I will look the other way considering it's PHO. My last trip here was a disappointment when it came to my cafe sua da. It was already made and they barely used any condensed milk! That led to my next yelp at the bakery next door at LanVin french bakery since she ALWAYS makes an excellent coffee. Also, uninvited guests at my table!! Ants people! I added a picture of the one on the wall and I drowned the others in my coffee I didn't want. Ok, really I screamed like a girl and stood on the chair but who wouldn't when your staring at a colony walking away with your meal. I do hear ants are full of protein though.... And on a side note, the restroom would have been beautiful if it were cleaned recently. cleanliness is optional here. I get the feeling Pho Oregon really means F-Oregon to these people. They weren't this bad when they first opened, or were they.....

I guess coming from San Jose, CA, the Vietnamese capitol of California, I'm a little spoiled with the many varieties of Pho. My choice isn't in Pho, but rather beef stew, Pho Bo Kho. Usually, the broth is sort of thick with the zillions of spices with potatoes, carrots, and chunks of stewed pork. Here, the portion's were "small" compared to San Jose places, but don't get me wrong, you will leave FULL. Service is fast and you will get your order insanely fast. One note: when someone is about to pour you tea, don't move your glass last minute, thus burning your hands and looking like a Rtard. =P

I knew I was in for some good authentic pho when I saw their parking lot was full of lexus and mercedes with jade pendants hanging from the rear view mirrors. Sure enough when we were seated we were one of only 2 groups of non-asians in a pretty full restaurant. The broth was excellent and the regular bowl is enough to satisfy. Only downsides were that the waiters never returned, and the noodles were a bit too clumped together.

Twas a surprisingly REALLY good bowl of pho for us... possibly due to the low expectations we had for pho in Portland, let alone Oregon for that matter. My coconut juice was served from a real coconut which I liked. The table near us asked me what I was drinking.. and it was coconut juice.. just as it looks people! That was pretty funny. I really liked the pho here and will definitely come back to Pho Oregon on our next trip to PORTLAND!!

I had high hopes after reading reviews and walking in. Smelled great, and was filled with Vietnamese people. Unfortunately, I was still starving after I left. I had a vermicelli bowl with grilled shrimp and pork and eggroll, and it was good. It just didn't fill me up at all. Pay at the counter - I didn't realize that and sat there an extra ten minutes.

TL;DR VERSION: best Vietnamese restaurant in Portland. I absolutely love Vietnamese food. I grew up in Berkeley, California where there are tons of amazing restaurants where I can indulge my need for my very favorite dish: vermicelli salad bowl with crispy eggrolls. Whenever I try a new Vietnamese restaurant I always get that dish. My general vietnamese restaurant checklist: +Is there hoisin and hot sauce on the table? Yes (they even have a special sauce that seems to be a spicy type of hoisin and it is delicious!) +Are there chopsticks at the table? Yes +Are the other customers primarily Asian? Yes My vermicelli salad (bun thit nuong) checklist: +Is the sauce (Nc mm pha) flavorful and not too watery? Yes +Are the rolls crispy/is the filling tasty? Yes +Are the veggies plentiful and fresh? Yes +Is the portion bountiful? Yes - I always have leftovers (which taste great cold and served over warm rice). What I don't like about Pho Oregon: - The price of this dish is something like $8.50, which is at least $2 more than I pay in the Bay Area for the same thing. Thankfully it is not any more expensive because I know I would still pay it... -_- - How far away Pho Oregon is! Open up a location closer to the Laurelhurst area please!!

Love...... It is a little pricy comparatively speaking but great quality! My husband and I have eaten pho all over the place even at his parents house ( who are S.E. Asians ) and we all love the broth here! Best pho in Oregon by far!!

This is the #2 best pho joint in Portland. Pho Hung on 82nd is #1. The broth here a tad lighter and sweeter than Pho Hung, but they give you more meat here and the brisket is divine. Highly recommended.

I like to give 3.5 stars as I rarely think any restaurant can be a 5... I am a HUGE Pho fan, and I've been to MANY pho restaurant in town and out of town. I do think this is one of the best pho in town. The broth has so much more depth, the condiments have more selection, and most importantly the broth comes in piping hot. Shame that many pho restaurants don't serve their soup noodles at a ideal temperature...these guys are on the top of it. I am real picky about the noodle soup and they get my seal of approval. Some of their non pho items are great too. I think this place is worth the visit if you are wondering about this location.

First Yelp review! Went here last night for the first time. They're open late (convenient!) and the staff has a great attitude. They're funny, friendly, and helpful! The food came really quickly, and the pho was excellent. Rich, comforting, and hot. The environment is nice and clean. Would definitely recommend!

My mother might approve. That's saying a lot! Since my last post, I've returned countless times and bring friends and family. Good point: hot good tasting big bowls of pho. Ambiance: cold and cafeteria. Plenty of seating. Coming in sweats is perfect. Service: Fast Parking: in back Location: 82nd Street location, Sandy Blvd location no longer exists

Ate here for a quick lunch with a friend last week. As an avid Pho fan I was impressed with the broth. Had a slight cinnamon flavor which made it stand out. The large bowl ordered was full of noodles, beef and veggies along with a nice heaping plate of peppers, bean sprouts, basil and another green leafy veggie which had a unique flavor to it. We only had ~ 30 minutes to eat and the service was speedy and efficient and we literally sat, ordered ate and paid in ~25 minutes! Bottom Line: A bit out of the way from where I am but I will be back! So far, this is my favorite Pho restaurant (I've tried about 10 in the city).

Fast service and decent pho! Pho Oregon does not mess around when it comes to fast service. You get your entree within 3 minutes of ordering and it usually comes out all at once no matter how big your group is. They don't mess with frills or decoration in there so their focus is service. The portion of their soups and rice plates are fairly big so you don't have to worry about walking out hungry. I know that whenever i'm starving and i'm looking to eat before I start growling from hunger this is the place to go for fast pho! There's really not many decent pho restaurants in OR. You'll be surprise at how many specialty Pho restaurants are in OR and that they can really make their broth taste like dirty laundry no matter what seasoning you use. I like a place where i can taste the broth prior to adding any sauce to it & know it could be eaten as is. However, i love my pho spicy so i can't resist messing w/the broth. As of now, Pho Oregon is my favorite place to eat Pho. Just becareful when you eat it cuz you'll come out smelling like it!

  • Wil C.

In my opinion this is the best tasting pho in Portland. When 7 out of the 10 customers are asian you know it's authentic and the real deal. If I had to rank the top 3 pho places in Portland, Pho Oregon is #1, Pho Hung 82nd #2 and Pho Van #3. I had to take one star off for the nasty onion pho smell that gets in your clothes and hair. If you start sweating after you leave the place you can actually smell the pho coming out of your pores, that's how flavorful their Pho broth is! Other dishes they make really good are their salad rolls, egg rolls, vermicelli with grilled chicken and curry. If you want the best pho in town this is the spot! Just make sure to bring the fabreeze!

I'm new to the whole Pho thing... even though I have been dating a Vietnamese girl for over 4 years. But now I have fallen in love with Pho over the last few months, it has almost become my weekend ritual when I have nothing else to do. Go sit down by myself with a heaping, hot, spicy, meaty bowl of magical steaming hangover cure that is Pho. So far I would have to say this spot is my new favorite and is worth the adventure into the land of used car dealerships that is 82nd ave. Just as others have said the service is pretty incredible. You sit down and are asaulted by a crew of wait staff serving tea, water, and anything else you need. From my limited expirence the Pho is pretty spectacular and I can't wait for next weekend to go back. The restaurant is very clean and I didn't feel the least bit sketched out eating there.

Tonight we visited Pho Oregon for the very first time. Our overall impression was that it was a step above the other Vietnamese restaraunts we've been to. The portions of the cilantro, Chinese cilantro, sprouts & basil (normally served with Pho) were bigger, greener & fresher here: thumbs up! The hubby ordered the Rice Soup w/ Duck & Vegetable. His overall thoughts were that though it was a yummy dish, he would not order it again. The slices of duck were served over a bed of shredded leafy vegetables with a tasty sauce. He said the shreddings were really yummy but the duck was cold(!). So, does anybody know if this is the norm for this particular dish? The huge bowl of Rice soup was very good and a new experience for my hubby who's not had anything like it in any of the Vietnamese restaraunts we've tried in the past. His Vietnamese Coffee was official, but not out of the ordinary. I ordered the Spicy Chicken Lemongrass with steamed rice. This was served with a small bowl of beef broth. A separate small bowl held soy sauce with a slice of jalapeno. With extra cilantro (my request), I had a tasty feast tonight. We are coming back to visit so we can give the other menu selections a shot, especially the Vietnamese Crispy Rice Flour Crepes.

[+] My friends brought me here for lunch one day. Definitely one of the better places out there compared to the other pho places along the central 82nd. I ordered their special and I was pretty surprised that I almost couldn't finish my food. That's all I ever order when I have pho, a bowl of their special and I can gauge by how much food there are by either able to finish or not. [-] Like most pho places, the smell of pho stuck onto my hair and clothing all day long. Not only that, our table was sticky. If they didn't clean my table, imagine how well they cleaned our utensils. [?] I'm a fan of this place, but I would mostly not come back here for a while because it is a bit of a inconvenience to drive my butt all the way over there. But I do recommend it to other people to who had never had this place before.

  • Sherry Y.

I was taken here by my Vietnamese friend, so I was tempted to give it 4 stars. I figure he would know, right? However, I don't think I would venture this far from home (NYers are lazy alright!) if he hadn't been driving and wanted Pho Oregon. It had pretty decent Pho (I didn't need to cover the flavor in hoisin sauce). It lacks ambiance in the way that the Asian restaurants who have the best food are dirty and run down; but the dirt adds flavor according to my friend. The service is fast and it's full of Asians--always a good sign! The Pho is the same selection and price as every other pho restaurant. I'll be back as long as someone else is driving.

Took a long time to figure out what Pho place was the first to try in Portland, (and that was open, and still had soup). I think that the Pho here was the usual great quality broth standard of all the great fastfood pho i've had. I always get Pho Tai. My sis got the Pho Tai Chin.. I'm just not a fan of brisket in the broth making the broth so oily and fatty. I'm a fan of nice clean broth that i season up myself with fresh items. charbroiled.grilled pork n shrimp vermicelli dish was awesome. awesommmmmme. and plenty of fresh crunchy items over top. I am definitely coming here again and again. If summer rolls were on the menu, it would be perfect. I didn't see it.. was it called something else?

Perhaps I am not the best candidate to review, as this was my true introduction to pho.. but I couldn't have been better introduced. Like crack, this place gets you instantly addicted. I might have to seek help soon, because it's only a few blocks from where I work and I don't see myself slowing down any time soon. A very impressive menu with great prices, this place doesn't let you down. Huge with ample seating, you don't have to worry about trying to eat pho standing up or in your car (possible, but not preferable). I had no idea what I was doing when I first ordered it, so I just looked around. Okay.. chopsticks and a spoon to eat it, hrrmmmm. Ohhhh they're using the chopsticks to wrap the noodles and put it ON the spoon. I SEE. DUR I AM SO WHITE. My one complaint is that I don't understand how you're supposed to pour this huge, wide bowl of pho into their narrow to-go container. Why can't they do it for me over a sink? I have spilled every time, and that green onion smell does NOT go away easily. I'm sure I blend in with the smellies on the bus, but it's not my favorite smell even if it does equal delicious. Stinky onion aside, I love it here. They really know what the hell they're doing, and I'm thankful.

Probably the best Pho this side of Saigon and also the cleanest, just stopped by for pho with beef tendons and salad rolls, they make the salad rolls fresh when you order them, at least when ever I order them :) I'm a big framed guy and can eat my share of food, large pho and 4 pieces of salad roll is too much food to finish even for me :) I always forget to take pictures of the food when I come here, the food is so good and fresh I always end up eating first, maybe next time I will remember to take a picture before digging in :)

I have eaten pho at several other Portland Restaurants, but this is absolutely the best! Not being an adventurist, (tripe, soft tendon, pizzle, etc.) I order the #10 lean brisket. Be sure to pull the Thai basil leaves apart into pieces and add, also the cilantro leaves, squeeze in the lime, add a generous portion of bean sprouts (they will cook in the hot soup) and add a little of the dark brown garlic and fried chili sauce. It's a little sweet,(star anise I'm guessing) garlicky and plenty hot, but tasty. Go easy at first depending on how much of a chili head you are. The broth is consistent and loaded with flavor,(beefy and I detect a hint of cinnamon) meat is always tender, seating and service is lightning quick even when busy. Staff is friendly, tea is free unlike some other establishments. My go to place even though I live 40 miles away. Menu is huge but I can't stop ordering the pho! Very good appetizers. Try the Tau hu ky, fried tofu with shrimp, fish and crab. Or try Oregon nem cuon , grilled pork meat rolls with vegetable in rice paper. Served with a mango sauce, but I ask for peanut sauce instead. The best salad rolls I've eaten,(loaded with rice noodles, a whole shrimp, pieces of pork and mint. Very clean restaurant, tables quickly cleared. Unlike others I've visited.Grade A+

Bún măng vt was delicious, just as my memories of this dish back home. H tiu was good. Ph was ok. The restaurant is casual. The decor, music & general atmosphere reminds me of what I saw in California where a large Vietnamese population resides.

Best Pho I've ever had! It was a Sunday morning and they were packed! Looks like the whole town knows how good Pho Oregon Restaurant is! Plenty of meat and the broth is the best I've ever had! This restaurant is a MUST if you are in the Portland area....

Went here twice during a recent stay in Portland. Had the #1 Pho option (pho with everything) both times. The broth is excellent, and the brisket they use is melt in your mouth tender. Also had the thai tea (typical - tea with lots of condensed milk, very sweet), and the spring rolls (very tasty, although tasted slightly aged). Overall I would recommend this to anyone looking for Viet food in Portland!

The Pho was excellent! Taste is really good! Love it. The service is bad! But understandable it's a pho restaurant! Not a five star restaurant! So I will not tip high on it! But if u go for the foods...this week lace is great! We had number 2 and 8. I don't like their spring rolls cause the way they roll it I think it's stupid. They cut out both ends of the spring rolls...when u eat stuff will come out at the other end and get messy.

My fellow Oregonian yelpers did not let me down! My friends and I had just gotten to Portland, and we were starving. We wanted pho, so I jumped on yelp to see which place nearby had pho. Pho Oregon was highly rated and it was a bit of a drive south, but worth it! I ordered the pho dac biet, which only came in 1 size (Large). But I was able to finish it, because I was so hungry. The pho was good. Almost as good as my mom's-no place can outdo momma's homemade pho! But there was no msg in the pho I think, because I didn't get a headache or anything after! The broth was good and hot and flavorful. There was bo vien (meatballs) in the pho! Love it! Usually it doesn't come with that sometimes, so I have to order bo vien on the side. Service was quick and friendly-our waters and teas were refilled promptly and the food came out pretty quick. I would definitely come back again if I'm in Portland again!

Service is always wonderful here. They are right there walking in and directing you to a table. Ambience is lacking as it feels more like a cafeteria but it's clean and there are plenty of tables. Huge menu including a vegetarian section. I ordered the vegetarian fried rolls with vermicelli. Huge bowl at table and huge belly afterwards since I always have to eat it all. No alcohol but just gives me more room to eat.

So I decided to try something different today...glad I did. Forgot what the dish was called but it had shrimp, fish and eggplant in it. When it was brought to the table I at first thought I had made a terrible decision. The broth looked and smelt like Saigon canal water...it was that pungent. How ever after the first spoonfull of broth I decided I have a new favorite. Yum

Thailand is the land of a million smiles but Vietnam must not follow suit. Don't expect your server to return to the table once food is delivered. Order your refills and anything you need right up front. If atmosphere and service doesn't matter, the food is actually quite good but nothing differentiates it from any other Pho restaurant.

I've been going here for 6+ years now as my whole family goes every sunday and my wife (Sam P) loves it there too. I haven't had a bad bowl of pho yet and also they have such a variety of food and everything is good. Generous portions and it always hits the spot, Didn't know how much I missed this place until we moved to Tri-Cities, WA and couldn't find a decent bowl of pho.

The large pho is very small. Couldn't imagine what the small would look like. The place was packed and we almost missed our flight. We waited 35 minutes for our food. When I asked why we the people that got there after us got their food before us, he said they have lots of tickets and have to make what's easiest first. Uh, we only ordered pho just like the people who got there after us. The Pho ga was good but he three stars are for the portion size and the service. Oh...and you have to go up and pay. Both servers rejected my money and said I had to go to the front.

Best pho I've had in Oregon. Taste reminds me of Westminster in California, but prices are definitely higher than Westminster. I think the prices are on par with places in Portland though. The soup didn't taste like it was filled with tons of MSG. The meat and vegetables tasted fresh. I would go again to eat.

I have been eating here at least 50 times, I would say I am a loyal and repeat customer. They know who I am but there is never any loyalty given back. On this normal slow day my family and I order 3 bowls of pho and 2 rice plates.. We waited almost 40 mins for our food.. This is pho it should take no more then 10 mins on this slow day.. We had to remind them about our order they brought out the pho immediately but forgot the rice plate took them nearly 20 more mins, we decided to cancel the rice plates and leave because it was just too long of a wait. However they charged is the rice plate and forced us to take the food because we ordered it... As they gave it to us nearly an hour after we order and was leaving..and wanted to scold and argue with us because we could not be patient.. To avoid conflict to we took and paid for it and just gave it to a couple of homeless people.. I have more than brag about this place... No thanks not again

This used to be my favorite pho spot in all of Portland. And I hate to write "that" review, but am compelled after the treatment received. Now, I by no means expect much in terms of service from a Pho restaurant - it's about the food, and you simply hope service is OK. However, I showed up at 8:27 PM last night for dinner - the restaurant advertises open hours until 9PM (on every site with available information) - and I was turned away. I was told they wouldn't seat me, that it was "closing time." With 33 minutes left before a posted close, I was horrified to be turned away so rudely. I of course would never dream of showing up 5, 10, or even 15 minutes before close. But a quick bowl of pho 30+ minutes before closing time seems perfectly acceptable. I will be taking my pho business - which is large, as it is my absolute favorite meal - elsewhere. I suggest others do the same. In fact, I'm really happy to see that a lot of places in town are upping their game. I'll gladly opt for a pho restaurant that will seat you during the times they claim to be open for business.

Good. Tried Com Dac Biet, a favorite which I'd not had with broken rice since I was in Virginia many years ago with my Viet roommate. It didn't have the pork loaf that I used to enjoy, but it had shrimp and fried tofu skin, Overall, quite tasty, although soup was a bit too salty for my taste. For dessert, had crushed ice, coconut milk, various beans, and (tapioca?) gelatin. Good sweet ending to a meal, but not too sweet, and relatively healthy too. I might have given them an extra star if they had offered me some kind of food (even cool food, to take away) when I came at 845pm on my first visit after a long drive, having checked the Internet and found that they close at 9pm. On my arrival, a gentleman said the kitchen closes at 830pm, things are "cooled down", they changed their hours to accommodate staff who need to take bus home, but neglected to change the Internet hours. I checked reviews later and found someone else had experienced this.

Nope. In my quest to find Portland's best Pho, I drove out to 82nd aka the ghetto to score some delectable noodle-brothy-goodness. Nope. The parking around back is a tight fit. I was literally the only white person in the place. Apparently, I don't like authentic. The broth contained soy sauce (why?) and was quite salty. The meat tasted a bit dubious and there were few vegetables or anything really, except tons of oversteeped noodles. The bakery around back is a treasure but skip the Pho. The quest continues...

Always a good spot for some Pho though it's kind of in the middle of nowhere out on it's own though not super far from the SE 82nd stretch of other Asian Stores/Restaurants.

My husband and I adore this place. It's the best we've found since moving down here from Seattle/Tacoma. Broth is always perfect, meat is still rare in the soup when you get it, and they don't skimp on the noodles. A great pho experience.

Pho Oregon lives up to its reputation for tasty quality food at a great price. My standard is the #1, a large pho taking the whole cow approach to ingredients in a good way. Hot the broth starts with black pepper notes, them moving to just slightly sweet and with a round umami flavor as it cools. The size is quite large and the basil and sprouts portion fitting. The ground red pepper in oil includes mostly the pulp of the pepper, rather than the usual seed, giving it a very tasty dried tomato flavor, or perhaps it includes dried tomato. The jasmie tea is fragrant. The service was quick. Like!

IMPRESSIVE LACQUER ARTWORK One of the art pieces resembles the shrine at the Presidential Palace in Hanoi. As for the cuisine, it's authentic. For this early evening we tried the Com Dac Biet (rice special) which included broken rice, bbq pork, pork skin, & Vietnamese egg-pork patty plus a large bowl of Bun Bo Hue. (no pig knuckle but with a very nice slice of picnic pork that includes the skin. Left with total satisfaction. This restaurant has been around for ten years and their uniformed staff is bilingual and very service orientated. It's very apparent that they have a very loyal following. I'll be back for sure.

Pho is pretty good but chicken is kinda tough and nasty. Sometimes I get a little ill from eating there. Maybe too much msg?? If you want something more authentic and msg free try Vivi's Yummy Rolls on 52nd and sandy.

I would say this place is average in terms of Pho and their prices seem a little higher then my usual spots. One thing for sure their salad rolls were great and they brought tea before ordering which is nice considering many places charge for tea now.

Love the pho here for Vietnamese style. Texture of noodles is just right, broth is light and flavorful. Overall, great service and boy they are quick to bring out your food! It is our go-to spot for Pho! Happy feasting.

#1 Pho order:Broth was delicious on its own, but I like it spicy and with the works. Really happy that the meat was fresh and tender. Too bad it's far from where I live.

After reading many positive reviews of Pho Oregon, I had high expectations that were disappointed on my first visit. The pho was good, but not remarkable. And the harshly lit interior was cluttered and dingy. Not everyone is as aesthetically sensitive, but I would gladly pay more to dine in more inspiring surroundings. If you're in the hood, it's worth a try. But there's no need to make a special pilgrimage to Pho Oregon.

Went here on Sunday afternoon for a quick lunch around 130p. Restaurant was busy but we were seated immediately and service was punctual. Ordered the pho tai with tripe and iced coffee, husband ordered the pho tai. Broth had great flavor, and pho was delicious. Would return, comparable to the pho found in little saigon California. I'm Vietnamese and this helps with my pho cravings until I visit my mom again.

Portland weather often demands soup! What better way to take off the chill than with some good Pho. What makes this Pho good? Good, developed broth. Fresh ingredients. Noodles with a bit of a chew, but not tough. At Pho Oregoon, we found the broth spot on. Noodles spot on. Fresh veggies. AND....They also serve culantro - something we don't often see offered with Pho, but very traditional nonetheless. We turned a newbie onto Pho that night. We are proud. We entered from the back, having parked in the somewhat sketch parking lot behind the restaurant, which we found remarkably clean.

My favorite Pho in town. I get the round steak and salad rolls everytime, and I am always happy. The service is what you expect. It's superfast, pretty cheap, and better than most. Hats off!

I'll be the first to admit I smirked a bit when I got my first recommendation to eat here. After all, who could take a place called "Pho Oregon" seriously? Maybe it's the years of brainwashing into believing the only relevant joints were the ones with authentic (i.e. non-English) names. But make no mistake, Pho Oregon is every bit as pho-king amazing as folks have made it out to be and I am now it's biggest fan. Located on a semi-desolate stretch of 82nd, Pho Oregon has breathed some life in an otherwise unpopular area of NE Portland. It may or may not have spawned the opening of one of city's best banh mi places ( yelp.com/biz/lanvin-fren… ) in the same complex, giving way to an additional asset to 82nd's growing collection of Viet businesses. Compared to the mini pho dives around Portland, Pho Oregon is ginormous, with plenty of seating and giant round tables that are typical of Chinese banquet halls. This is the ideal place for a Viet feast amongst friends, a haven for group seating. It may feel a tad empty at times but it only gives more reason to consider this place for epic gatherings. In regards to the food, it's all very good and reasonably priced. One sip of the pho broth and I knew this place was just a little different than the rest. The broth had something to it, an aromatic freshness, a smooth, yet flavorful richness that is usually only a component of quality home cooking. Adding the twist of the lime, a pinch of mint leaves with a dabble of hoi sin and a smooth textural silkiness to the noodles and you've got a fantastic bowl of pho not to be taken lightly. In fact, the addition of the condiments aren't even really necessary, even if it seems like an integral part of the pho experience. And even though pho is what they do best, the other dishes are certainly no slouch. The com (rice) dishes are quality, such as the com ga nuong (grilled chicken over rice) and a very quality bun dac biet (vermacelli noodles special combination). I love their cha gio (spring rolls), dipped in their potent nuoc mam (fish sauce), wrapped in a fresh leafy green, and finished off with a crunch and burst of juicy flavor. People who know their pho can debate endlessly about which place gets their vote, much like New Yorkers and their pizza. When it comes down to it, Pho Oregon is a true testament to the quality Vietnamese food Portland has to offer.

I would have to say this is the best pho restaurant that I have been to in Portland metro area. The are really fast and have great food. I have tried a few other places in town and no where near as good tasting as they are. If you like great food and good prices try pho oregon out.

Love this Pho spot. Big, quick and kind service, great and low-priced Pho and other Vietnamese noodle dishes. Instant tea service, they also serve beer. Best Pho I've had in town. I'll be hitting this spot many times a year now that I live closer to it. Especially in winter season.

This is one of the best places I've ever been for Pho in the US of A. They even do things beside Pho quite well. The one and only reason I don't give them five stars is because this is one of the worst places in our neighborhood for getting "white person" service. I have overlooked this little, and I mean little, issue for a long time but last week when we were in for our post ale festival recovery session we were seated and then forgotten! I had to walk up to the front counter a half hour later and ask if we could order. The manager apologized and then ran to our table to take the same order that we've placed with him the thirty times we've been there previously(#1 large and #18 regular). He was very apologetic but compared to the great service and friendliness we get at mekong or Pho on Sandy I think it may be a while before we come back.

Something about this place scares me. Not sure if it is the arena sized restaurant but there is just something about it that has made me not go back. In all fairness I should go back and face my fears. For some reason I feel like I would like it more, and they would like their monthly rent more if the place were a hole in the wall and a lot smaller. The Pho I had was decent and I can remember leaving happy. I will go back. Just a lot of others to try first before going for 2nds.

Fast service scratch made everything and the freshest vegetables ever. Possible the best Vietnamese restaurant ever and the beef stew is to die for. Everything on the menu is great and it's a must try place.

ONE of my Favorite Pho places in Portland. I get in my weird Pho kicks where I'll only go to one Pho place for months before deciding to go to my other favorites. Right now I'm on my PHO OREGON kick. They use great cuts of beef and the broth cures all. The large staff is very efficient and friendly. Love it all! Our last trip in, my husband had the Curry. A lighter broth then he's used to, but he found himself liking it over the thicker curries. Oh, and I LOVE me some Ca fe su dah! Com 'on.

Parking was a bit confusing. I parked near the bakery and walked into a random door/hallway. Turns out the entrance is on the left, opposite from the restrooms. Seating was quick and the waiters were fast. I ordered the Pho #1 with the raw beef on the side because I like my beef really rare. I was impressed by how quickly my order came out. The broth was REALLY good: rich, strong, flavorful. It was not as good as my mom's (she used to make the broth out of ox tail) but I was relieved that it wasn't watered down. I was also impressed that they had provided enough meat to nearly last through the entire meal. Overall, this was a really great bowl of pho. It's probably slightly better than the pho from Pho Hoa Hung in Beaverton. However, the one at Pho Oregon is more expensive ($8.95 vs $7.50). I think I would rather take a slight flavor cut to save money.

Pretty terrible service. Was shown to a table where they didn't even come to take my order. Noticed new people came in who got their order taken care of right away. I left after 15 minutes. Too hungry to wait. Also saw the food that other people were eating, and I might be coming from Phoenix, but plenty of Vietnamese places there looked better.

I've been here for several years now. It is a good restaurant overall; food is good, the service not very good, you have to wait a while to get a second glass of water, but they do miss a lot on cleaning. The spice containers are awful dirty. I just tried to have lunch there few days ago and in of of the jars with spices on the table I found hair. They really need to find a way to keep those clean, or just bring them to the table for each customer. I know they should comply with some food handling rules and it does not seem to me they care about. Their food is too good to lose the restaurant for some cleaning issues.

My favorite pho restaurant in Portland. About $1-$2 more expensive than your normal pho place. My friend, who is Vietnamese swears they have the best/most authentic bun bo hue in town. I absolutely agree with him, this place is top notch.

If you are Asian with really Asian parents, and grew up in Portland, then you know that this is the best Pho you can get in a restaurant. I'm really particular about my pho, since my mom frequently makes it at home. I grew up having pho every Sunday from as far back as I can remember until sometime recently. Unless you're getting some homemade stuff, nothing compares to Pho Oregon. I can't say about their other dishes because I specifically go here just for the pho.

When I came here awhile back, the food was decent. Broth was sweet and meats tasted relatively fresh. Definitely one of the better pho joints across town. However, their hours are strangely inconsistent. They state that they close at 9pm, however, when my friends and I came at 8:45, they were already closed. There were still customers inside but they declined to service us. What a shame. They should change their hours if this is the case.

I'm fairly new to the Pho cuisine but I really liked this place! I was there with friends on a Friday night and the place was crowded, but the food came out pretty quickly. The food was delicious, the servings were huge (I ordered a small bowl and had to take half home). The service was pretty good, although at the end of the meal there was confusion as to how we got our bill...do they bring it to the table? Do we go to the counter? My only "complaint", which is minor, is that they should considering dimming the lights a little. It was super bright and not great for mood!

First off, quick summary - everything I've ever eaten at Pho Oregon has been insanely delicious and I can't think of a pho place I'd rather patronize - and that's saying something, considering the proliferation of that realm of cuisine in the NE Hollywood neighborhood alone. Pho Oregon is something special. The broth is just right, includes ingredients you're never disappointed to encounter, and even offers non-soup things (coconut juice served in a coconut, salad rolls with delicious peanut sauce, deletable char-bbq'd pork, oh my god, I'm still full from dinner and this is all still making me salivate. I know, 82nd is sketchy. Get over it. Do yourself a favour if you like pho or you'd like to like pho, go to Pho Oregon and treat yourself. I can't even imagine how you'd regret the trip.

By far one of the best Pho joint in Portland. My family and I go every Sunday or at least once a week. In my previous review, I said I wasn't impressed but it just gets better and better when compared to the other options out there. The service is very quick and up to standard for a Vietnamese restaurant. My typical is the Pho Dac Biet and a Vietnamese coffee. Warning, the coffee is extremely strong! I get so jittery after finishing it that I can't hold a lens steady when I go to work afterwards. The other day, I tried their Chao Tom and it was very tasty. Chao Tom is a grounded shrimp wrapped around a sugar cane stick and grilled then it's served with rice paper, noodles, and vegetables--you form our own spring rolls. My sister always get the Hu Tieu Kho and she never strays from it. Pho Oregon is getting so popular because, on the weekends, there's starting to be a wait for a table. Unheard of! Oh, everyone is Asian, it's that good.

Pho Oregon is amazing. The broth is delicious, the ingredients fresh, and the service stellar. The owners and staff knows us well as we stop in weekly. Bun Bo Hue also off 82nd Ave is the only Vietnamese soup that I think comes close to the Vietnamese Pho/Soup restaurants in Oregon. But Pho Oregon is king in our eyes. Continue to serve our bellies warm goodness.

Really good salad rolls with a tasty peanut sauce accompany the rolls. The pho is always to big for me to finish and I am always full by the time i try to get to the broth.

Best pho in Portland. We usually come here at least once a week, the broth is always consistent and their portions are generous. I occasionally get the bun bo hue and pho ga (chicken pho) and they're delicious as well. Price is average I don't think it's more expensive than others. Also very very quick service, they bring your food within 5 min of ordering even on busy Sunday mornings (unless u order rice). My fiancé is Vietnamese as is my brother in law, I have a lot of experience with pho.

Looked up places for Pho in Portland - and decided to visit Pho Oregon. First of all, the inside of this place is huge! Never seen such a large Pho joint! I came in here with a bad cold - looking for the medicinal relief that only a steaming bowl of Pho Ga with lots of jalapenos and Sriracha sauce can provide. And a pot of hot tea. After flying out to Portland from Dulles, my head was totally congested. I ordered the large Pho Ga with white meat. Bowl came out - steaming hot. One of the hottest bowls of Pho broth I've ever encountered - had to let it cool a bit. I tasted the Pho broth before adding anything. Their broth has the strongest onion flavor I've ever encountered. Almost off-putting. But I added the Basil, Saw Leaf Herb (as it is known by the rustics), lime juice, jalapenos, and bean sprouts and stirred it all together. Now the broth was very good. The plate of veggies/aromatics was very fresh. The noodles were not clumped. The broth was steaming hot. And the white chicken was very tender. I added a lot of Sriracha sauce to individual bites, and added a good bit to the broth at the end. The Pho Ga brought me at least temporarily relief from the cold congestion. Service was good, I would definitely come back here again!

best pho place in portland. it comes together great here. the pho had great broth, toothsome noodles and perfectly cooked meat/tendon/tripe in the pho. the salad rolls were fresh/crisp on the inside and the skin was chewy. 5-stars because it had all the major components well and i thought the service was pretty good. asked for a rice dish recommendation and it was spot on (16a was the recommendation).

My meat was all fat and vessels, it was absolutely disgusting. I spoke to someone presumably in charge and he told me it was the cut. Which was supposed to be flank streak. No apologies or offer to make it correct. Terrible food, terrible service.

Hu Tieu Num Vang was delicious! Te pork broth which can sometimes be on the sweeter side of pho broths, was perfectly balanced. There was many different toppings: chicken, pork, fish balls, quail egg, pork liver. Definitely take a chance out of your pho regular to get this bowl of soup!

The broth was very well seasoned. I've never tasted such good broth.. and not only that but the Large actually came with a LARGE amount of noodles. Most pho places seem to give you the same amount of noodles with extra broth... I was very happy with my visits and I plan to go again.

hits the spot. legit pho. really tasty. their basil is awesome, clean and large. only complaint is that the place is like a large banquet hall like a large chinese restaurant. also because there are minimal things on the wall and all tile floors, the sound reverberates a lot and it gets quite noisy there. minor complaint definitely be going back!

I had never had pho before when I came here for the very first time. My boyfriend assured me that this was THE best (emphasis on the) pho in Portland, well at least on the east side. While the scenery isn't charming, and the back entrance makes you feel weird, there's a cute pastry place right next door for dessert after the best meal of your life. After coming to Pho Oregon, pho has become a staple in my life. An addiction; a cure-all. You cannot eat here without ordering an avocado smoothie, complete with a freaking cherry on top. The straw still has a piece of the wrapper on it so it's like you're unwrapping a present. It is delicious. Now on to the food. When I walk in the door they know I've been her before and I swear they already know what I want. If you're wondering, I always order a small #69, which is the veg-friendly choice, and order half the amount of noodles because it is so filling - even as a small! It has tons of veggies in it, tofu, and even those baby corns. So great. Before you dig into your pho, you need to add some flavor with the plate of additives they serve with your pho. It's full of bean sprouts, thai basil, some other stuff that I can't name but it's good, and some hot peppers. This can be time consuming but elevates your pho experience to a whole other level. Next I drizzle some brown sauce, a scoop of plum sauce, and drench it in Sriracha. Of course you don't have to do the same, and I encourage you to experiment to get the perfect mix. Lastly, I eat. Then I cry because I'm so full. Then I get destracted by the smell of fresh pastries next door, and my boyfriend and I stuff our faces on the way home. Pho Oregon is romantic. The only reason I gave them four stars was due to a time a couple people and I came, did our usual set-up with the sauces, and noticed it to be unbearably spicy. Way spicier than normal. They insisted it was fine, then watched us eat the entire rest of the meal.

The #24 is a must try! It was a pork soup with egg noodles and quail eggs. For such a big place, I was pleasantly surprised in the quality of their soup. Beside that, it was a good Pho Place that the family enjoyed.

Why can't the Pho restaurants in WA be like Oregon and California? The restaurant was filled with numerous workers and was large and spacious. The service was fast and very attentive. I'm quite picky on my Pho and they got everything I asked for correctly and that was a definite plus. The workers are cheery and helpful, which is always a rarity in Pho shops. My friend got the bun bo hue and even that was tasty! I wish they had this here in WA because a lot of the shops here are becoming worse and worse. Would definitely recommend this place to anyone who is near here and craving noodles and soup!

My first impression of trying to find this place was hard to find because I had a hard time finding the entrance. I go inside and surprisingly it's a big place with lots of people! Me and my mom ordered Pho. Our orders came in and LOTS of MSG. My mother is a native from Vietnam and she knows whats authentic good and she can tell if their is MSG. Well it made her sick and gave her diarrhea. Sorry for being blunt but if you want no MSG in your soup don't go here. But nice thing about this place is that they aren't stingy with adding the stuff to your soup and they were nice.

Okay...I'll admit the score should be higher but I need to be mindful of my health a little more these days. I'll break this out in three categories: food, service, ambiance. The food is as good as it gets with viet cuisine. Fast hot and tasty spring rolls with pork and a little innocent bit of shrimp. Spot on authentic and the same goes for the Pho. Rich flavorful stock that takes time and patience to achieve. Here's the comment on the health -- traditional pho stock has a delicious amount of beef fat and some fatty chunks of meat. It tastes great with a deft hand at the star anise but I wont eat it on a regular basis. The bun (cold noodle bowl) is equally delicious and so is the yellow curry but this isn't called Bun Oregon or Curry Oregon. The service. Go when it's busy and you'll be treated like the rest of the patrons. Go in an off hour or pre/post rush and the wait staff tend to disappear. So if you've really spiced up your soup be prepared to be a fish out of water until someone appears to refill your 10oz tumbler. No checks to see how you are doing with your meal Be prepared to be assertive. You can build a thin thread of rapport with the staff if you are a serious repeat customer or if you can speak Vietnamese. The ambiance. I love a crowded pho joint which can sometimes transport you to another time and place. Off peak hours you'll usually witness handyman activities or early deep cleaning. Last visit was a couple guys replacing a door (8pm on a Friday night). Odd to me. So that's it. This isn't a magnet pulling me out of the burbs to visit. Instead if it's convenient and I need some pho, spring rolls, bun I will definitely stop in and drop in to this solid pho place where nobody knows or cares about my name (if my diet can take it).

We were craving some pho and ended up here after driving down the street a few blocks to check out the other options. Place is pretty big space and not many of the tables were occupied. Server came over immediately and asked what we wanted. Three Times! In less than five minutes. Gave up perusing the menu and went with the large combo pho. The broth was light and flavorful. Service was friendly, if not a little rushed. However, still better than the majority of Asian restaurants and food was above average.

Make sure to get an avocado shake. Smooth, sweet, and delicious! This place is tucked away in what almost looks like an old strip mall. However inside you are treated to a delightful Vietnamese decor, pleasant and prompt service, as well as delicious food. I almost always get the chicken curry (I know, it's a Pho restaurant!) simply because I always go here with a group of friends. As a result we end up sharing about three varieties of Pho, and the curry adds some nice texture into the mix. Lastly the tea, which is always brought out promptly, as wonderful jasmine notes. It's tastes significantly better than the standard fare you receive in most Asian restaurants, and pairs very well with any dish on the menu.

I am new to Pho, this is the second place I have had Pho and its much better than the first place I went to. I have come back to Pho Oregon five times and have brought friends. Service: Fast and efficient, as they seat you there is a person with tea and cups right behind you or already in front of you ready to serve. They give you about a minute to decide what you want, if you need extra time, they give you about another minute. After about my third visit I figured out my favorite, #11. They serve the table with basil, culantro, lime, jalapeño, and bean spouts, all looking very fresh. I even decided to try some Pho with tendon, tripe and fatty brisket - the broth is great, tripe was better then expected but I couldn't do the tendon, texture and flavor just not appetizing for me, but I drank all the broth and ate everything but left the tendon. I usually go for dinner and its usually pretty empty with maybe three or four tables full. I went for lunch on a Sunday and the entire place was packed, and very loud. I like that when I go in, the patrons are of Asian descent, I take that as a sign that this is a place to get authentic Vietnamese food. *hint, there is an entrance from the back.

I've eaten pho primarily in San Francisco where a small would cost $5 and a large $6 and amazingly delcious. Even in Portland, I'm shocked that places like Pho Oregon think it's ok to charge $7.95 for a small. There is such a pleathora of great restaurants in Portland, it's easy to find cheaper and much better food. Beyond the price, I was very disappointed in the Pho Ga broth. It was sweet not savory. I've never had a sweet pho before so it was quite frankly disgusting to say the least. The fried spring rolls were good but again at $2 a roll, quite highway robbery. And I also saw a tip on here to double check your ticket. I was overcharged $1 - hmmm, never had a problem at a Chinese or Vietnamese restaurant before but maybe they can't do math here. I be taking my business else where just for that fact alone. When you rob your customers, you are being a douche!

Great service compared to other pho restaurants along 82nd. Your water actually gets filled promptly! Can't say that for many of the others. Server was great! Place was packed and he was the only one on the floor but was super speedy and friendly.

At last, after all these years of driving by and wondering how the pho was here....I can at last stop wondering. I stopped in here last night with some friends for dinner. I got the vegetarian pho (pho chay) while my friends got the chicken pho (pho ga). Both were an ample supply of warm, savory deliciousness. I'm pretty certain the vegetarian pho was not a vegetarian broth but vegetable broth or not it was very good and really hit the spot.

When I want to drown myself in a lake of rich, silky, meaty broth and spend the rest of my day digesting a pile of noodles and barely-cooked beef there is no better place than Pho Oregon. The broth, the most important part of any Pho, is good enough on its own. I wish I could carry around a thermos of it at all times. The portions are enormous. The beef is always fresh, cut raw into the hot broth to cook as I eat it. They're generous with the herbs and bean sprouts. The service is very quick. What else could I ask for?

  • Rob C.

Okay, the first thing you have to understand about pho/Vietnamese restaurants is that the quality of service is usually inversely proportional to the quality of food. Stated simply: the worse the service, the better the food. And vice-versa. There are some exceptions to this, of course, but by and large Pho Oregon is a solid example. The service is terrible; the pho is great. The location is questionable, but that's part of the charm. I imagine this place to be a lot like actual pho places in Vietnam (though I have no frame of reference aside from Travel Channel shows) - lots of tables, constantly busy, and a kind of impersonal vibe that is pretty "down to brass tacks." The menu is impressively large, but not in a way that makes you think "why is this on the menu with that?". The most important feature of a pho place to consider (aside from its health inspection rating) is the broth. Pho Oregon has excellent pho broth, and the mix-in accessories are fresh and just right. The food quality in general is pretty good, and every time I've been, the place is clean. As I said earlier, service is not their forte, so if you're looking for obsequious waiters who refill your water every 2 minutes, this isn't the place for you. But if you're looking for some amazing soup, give it a try.

Been here a good handful times, and it has always been good. Not superb, but consistent. The portion is nice and hefty. However, the last time I was there, the broth was a bit more saltier. Or perhaps they used MSG? Other way, I will be back in the future, but I might order another dish aside from Pho.

what the... took me forever to try this place.. it has a reputation for being one of the best pho joints in Oregon. did it live up to it's reputation? kind of the broth is awesome. the content is good. the price is steep for pho. $9?! yes.. it is worth it.. $9 is not a crazy price.. but it put the pho into a "going out" night as opposed to a "substitute" for making food category.

This is my favorite pho place right now. Food arrives fast and the food seems fresh. They have the best salad rolls and bun here. Their pho is also great. I wouldn't recommend their rice dishes though. Service can be hit and miss. They get extremely busy on weekends and especially with the church crowds on Sundays.

I was feeling under the weather and many people said this was the best Pho in Portland. I'll say EH, it's ok, not bad but not spectacular. Don't think I would drive from north Portland just to eat here again. Service was typical for Asian restaurant (not friendly but fast.) Atmosphere was also similar to a lot of Asian restaurants which is fine when you are having lunch or feeling sick but definitely not great for a date spot.

I have been to Pho Oregon many times with my family, but I could not give it a review till I experienced it once more, it had been years since I had been there. I picked hubby up from the airport and we stopped by for dinner on a Thursday about 5:30, not crowded yet. We ordered the fried spring rolls (with shrimp), they were very tasty, there was a sweet element I could not put my finger on, but they were good. They were very greasy however, my hubby thinks they were fried once when prepared and once again when we ordered them. We both ordered Pho, hubby got his usual Pho with tripe, tendon and some other gross shit, I got the Pho with the leanest meats I could find on the menu (I cannot remember exactly which ones). He loved his Pho, we were especially thrilled they served it with the traditional Vietnamese Mint (Nah Gai) which we love and no one else serves. My Pho was filled with noodles and a bunch of stringy fatty meat, I was so grossed out I picked most of the meat and stringy stuff out and by then I was done. Gross. The broth was pretty decent, but Pho Tango is by far the best I have had. It was OK, not as good as I remember. The service was decent, however I tried to ask the gal who delivered our food if they remodeled and she looked at me like I was an alien and walked away. The other odd thing is you have no idea how to pay, they never delivered a bill, so we finally got sick of waiting and went to the cashier and he keeps the ticket there. Would be nice if they had a sign or something .

Simply the best pho I've had anywhere, the service is lightning-fast, and the menu is exhaustive. Even the atmosphere is pretty decent -- not opulent, but nice enough to enjoy yet not so lavish as to drive up prices. As long as you stick to the pho, you're golden. The other stuff is hit-or-miss; my girlfriend, intimidated by the large, steaming bowls of Vietnamese goodness, ordered the curry chicken. It was okay, but not especially curried and generally unremarkable in every way. I finally asked the waiter if this was really the curry chicken and he essentially told me, hey, you're supposed to order pho when you come here. Good advice. Come here, and get pho. You'll be happy you did.

Jesus, this pho is delicious. The broth is rich and complex. The portion is HUGE; they stuff that bowl so full with noodles and meat that I must gulp down some of the glorious broth in order to properly mix up my bowl. I'm not complaining. They bring you water and hot tea the second you sit down. YES. As it should be. And they bring out your soup within minutes of ordering. Finally, someone seems to understand that when I want my pho...I want my damn pho! If only it did not take longer to get to Pho Oregon then to eat one of their magnificent bowls of soup. Its okay, I still love them.

Really delicious everything in a surprising spot near the portland airport. Great bun thit nuong, iced coffee, and the pho was some of the best I've had. Coming from someone raised by a vietnamese mother and who lives near Little Saigon in LA and has been to Vietnam 5x, that is legit praise ;)

I'm from Monterey Park (MPK)and have been eating vietnamese food for the past 15+ years so my standards are quite high when it comes to quality and price. The hubs was excited to try this place, I mean if your name encompasses the entire state, it better be good right? It was perfect because it's a little outside downtown Portland but on the way to the airport which made for a perfect lunch. The hubs ordered pho and I ordered my favorite rice plate (charbroiled pork with shrimp paste). Although food in Portland was very fairly valued, I found that Pho Oregon is about 25% more expensive than MPK as the pho was $8.50 and the rice dish was $10.50. Also, one of my favorite things about the rice dish is the egg casserole which was not one of the options. Of course my preference is still vietnamese food in So Cal. but hey Portland is almost 1,000 miles away. Overall I found the food to be good, tasty, authentic. The space was clean, airy, large (good for groups). The vietnamese ice coffee was strong and sweet, just the way I like it. One interesting thing was that our young waiter could not understand any english. We asked for an extra plate and bowl and he just stared at us puzzled until we flagged down another waiter.

My wife and I consider ourselves to be Pho fanatics (phonatics?) and we spent years in Los Angeles looking for the best Pho. We found it. And when we moved to Portland, we wondered if we would be able to find a place as good as the one we (and thousands of others) obsessed over in LA. Upon hearing that Pho Oregon has the best Pho in Portland, we of course were dying to try it. IT IS EVEN BETTER THAN THE PHO WE OBSESSED OVER IN LA!!!! Seriously, this is some good Pho, and everything else we tried on the menu was top-notch. I am a huge fan of Bun, and Pho Oregon masters Bun just as well as they do Pho. I think this place deserves the title of best Pho in Portland, even though I haven't obviously tried all of the Pho places yet. Why? Because I simply cannot see how it could get much if any better than this. Pho Oregon is a large, busy restaurant. You'll probably see a mixture of people here, ranging from Asian families to Portland hipsters. The staff is friendly and quick. I started craving their food the second after we paid our bill and left.

I came here for weekend lunch. After a fall out with another pho resturant I was on the lookout for another restaurant that dishes out some fantastic pho. I have to say, Pho Oregon has some solid pho. The broth is money and the portion size is awesome. For the price, it's a must if you're in the mood for some comfort food for dirt cheap. The decor is interesting, but when you come here, it's all about the food. The place is packed but it's spacious and finding a table isn't difficult. Service was prompt although I'm still not use to my waiter wearing a t-shirt and dirty jeans.

Pho Oregon has incredible pho coupled with fast, attentive service and the restaurant seemed extremely clean; what else could you ask for? I've been a fan of Pho Dalat, but this is my new go-to place for pho. The pho is actually about the same, both of them have really amazing broth, but the service at Pho Oregon was much friendlier than the nearby (102nd and Sandy) Pho Dalat. They have a pretty extensive menu other than pho, too, but I haven't tried any of it. I've seen some of the things they've brought out for other diners, though, and they looked good.

I have been to over 40 Pho places in Portland and this place wins the prize. If you are not a serious meat eater don't bother going there. This place is clean, fast and delicious! That's all there is to it.

Best, BEST Pho ever! I would take a bath in that broth they have bubbling away in their gigantic stock pots in the kitchen. Literally, I would take a bath! It is just THAT good! The pho at Pho Oregon is the best steamy goodness of your dreams! All the extras you would want for your Pho, basil, jalapenos, fish sauce, bean sprouts, lime wedges, chili garlic paste etc! Also, they have durian smoothies! DURIAN SMOOTHIES! You haven't lived until you have had a durian smoothie with pho! Best combo! Oh, the selection of pho is vast as well, you can have have straight tendon, tendon and tripe, tendon tripe and meat balls, tendon tripe meat balls and lean brisket, and fatty brisket....and so much more! There are also other soups and noodley dishes that are very tasty, but I always go back for more pho!! ps. the service is quick and efficient as well!

Arriving on a flight from a town with few, if any, decent Vietnamese options, Pho Oregon's proximity to the airport made it seem like a no-brainer pit-stop on the drive out to the coast. It was. To an outsider at least, "Pho Oregon" sounds like a contradiction-in-terms, since Oregon isn't exactly the most ethnically-diverse state on the West Coast. But this joint is the real deal, and, on the day we were there, the crowd in the relatively large and typically spartan (for a Vietnamese place) dining room was pushing 90 percent Vietnamese. The food lives up to the surroundings. The menu item "Pho Oregon" is a humongous bowl with all the works: thin-sliced steak, flank, brisket, tendon, tripe, meatballs. Eight dollars for this monster, which is offered only in a gigantic size; all the other phos on the menu are cheaper and offered in both huge and not-quite-as-huge sizes. Not the best I've ever had, because the broth wasn't that rich or complex, but a very solid pho entry nonetheless. The wife was braver than I on this day and ordered the ba la lot, which neither of us had tried before. It's seasoned ground beef wrapped in la lot leaves and grilled--they sort of look like dolmas--and served with lettuce leaves, rice paper, and lots of fresh veggies and herbs. A delicious dish that I'd love to order in the future. The menu features a bunch of other Vietnamese standards and beverages. Worth your while.

Oregon Pho never disappoints me. This is my 2nd time at this restaurant. The food is always consistently good and they give you a large portion. Last time I ordered pho, it was very good. This time I ordered steam roll with skewered bbq pork. They gave me 4 skeweres, which is a lot for my plate. It was delicious! The service is ok, I have to say they need to hire another busboy. The two that they have when I was there were so unmotivated to work. There were about 5 tables uncleaned and they had customers waiting, yet, they don't seem to notice or care. It's a big restaurant with not enough service people.

Nice setup, big place, lots of tables! Top 40 music, yes!! HUGE bowl of pho for $7.50, very well-seasoned, nice bold flavor. It's next to a French/Vietnamese bakery...BONUS. Location, kind of a pain. Decor, very nice. The tables are huge and the chairs are strangely upright/uptight. Great food. Good prices. Nice ambiance. I'll be back!

Pho-king-A this place makes some damn good pho. Finally a place I can honestly say puts up a good rivalry fight to the 'hung (the mother pho-king king of pho)!! Pho Oregon sits in a funny boxy-looking stucco and tile building on 82nd avenue right next to one of those old-time motels that you know is just rife with bedbugs, hookers and ground up meth addicts. I had seen it many-a-time while driving up 82nd to I-84 and thought "damn, I really need to try this place." I always hesitate to waste a good pho experience on what could be a crappy bowl of pho. But thanks to my new found yelpy motivation to try and review as many pho places in this city as I can, I got up the nerve on Sunday to stop in for a try. This place has all of the atmosphere that a good pho joint needs. It's big, cavernous, loud, dirty, and full of hot-broth action. Either these guys stole some style from the Powell Pho Hung, or vice versa (I was not there at the beginning, so I can't say which way the infringement goes). I was immediately greeted by a host loudly ordering me (with a smile) to sit in the window (yeah, they always sit whitey in the window, always). I sat and was immediately presented with a menu, tea, and water. I perused the full compliment of pho offerings - all the good stuff including tripe, flank, sirloin, meatball, tendon, brisket, chicken, etc. They also had bun bo hue, some com and bun dishes, and of course salad rolls and other appetizers. As soon as I closed my menu my waiter (obviously lurking somewhere nearby) was on top of me. I decided to go with a middle of the road offering - flank and lean brisket. It's a good judging dish. The broth is going to be the same regardless, but I can always tell from this combo the quality of meat they use. I also ordered a ca phe sua da (vietnamese crack in the form of iced coffee)... I had some studying to get to afterward. I decided to start reading a class paper that I had brought to pass the time, and seriously, by the time I was 2 sentences in, there was a hot, steaming bowl of pho in front of me. It was obviously served by a ninja because I didn't see the pho coming or the server going. Accompanying the pho was, of course, the standard bean sprouts, greens, basil, jalapenos, and lime. The bowl was your standard size for a large (which was a tad more expensive than usual, at $7). It was chock full of noodles, slices of beef, and dark, oily broth. I did my usual tester, taking a scoop of the broth before seasoning, and was honestly taken aback at how good it was. Beefy, anise-y, salty, well balanced... everything I look for in a bowl of pho. The helping of noodles was generous, and they were definitely forthcoming with the beef. The meat was of pretty standard quality (probably government grade-B), but not too fatty or gristly. Plus one star for that! I proceeded to season with some sambaal oleck (chili paste), sriracha, plum sauce, fish sauce, and some pepper. Neither my chopsticks nor my spoon hit the table until my bowl was empty. YUM!!! I did pause here and there throughout my meal to take in the glory that is Pho Oregon: 1. They have a PHO CART!!! No pho place is complete without the cart. There were 2 people attending the cart, swooping ever-so-NOT-silently up to each dirty table and cling-clanging the dishes into the bins while pouring the un-eaten pho into the pho-slurry bucket hanging off the end of the cart. It's oh so clean and so very appetizing. It just completes the pho experience, every time. 2. The large room is filled with a cacophony of sound, ranging from the cart-filling, to loud nasal Vietnamese yelling, to slurping and sucking, to the chaos of non-subdued food service. It's like eating in the food court at an Asian mall. That's the only thing I can compare it to. Unlike Hung, this place has a tile floor, and so the sound just bounces back and forth from floor to ceiling. I really felt like I was closer to Asia than 82nd. 3. Random neon. What is it about Asians and random neon decorations?? This environment of chaotic Sunday morning activity creates a white-noise like fray that, when combined with soothing hot broth, really takes me away (not unlike how Calgon would do it, if I ever let that chick into my bath). I love it. I was kind of disappointed that my coffee came pre mixed. I really like to watch it drip and drip throughout my meal, so it's nice and fresh and ready when I am done with my pho. Instead, it's served already brewed and mixed in ice. Lack of full frontal brewing aside, the coffee tasted damn good and afterwardIwentandstudiedreallyhardforalongtimeandgotawholelotdoneandWOOOHOOOOO!!!!! So, uh, yeah... anyway, the crazy wait-staff at this place will be seeing my face a whole lot in the upcoming weeks, as I try to determine whether Pho Oregon becomes my new pho mistress or I stick with my tried and true Hung. .

The chicken pho was good overall: clear, light broth, herbs looked fresh, and they served ginger fish sauce on the side which is really tasty. The only probably I had with the soup was that the chicken was so tough it wasn't even edible. It also had that "old, freezer burn" taste. I was too exhausted to complain so my husband gave me some of the beef from his pho tai (which was a lot better). Unlike many other pho places in the area they serve wine (and probably beer too, I don't remember) which is a plus.

I've Been going to Pho Oregon for years. Seems like the quality of their pho has slowly diminished as the years gone by. Maybe it's because they are big time now, moving from their quiet little spot over on sandy blvd a few years ago to the huge spacious location on 82nd. After a crazy night of boozing it up, the lady and I wanted to get some pho to replenish the body. We had not been to Pho Oregon in awhile so decided on trying it again. I played it safe and went with the #6 (Noodles, slices of round steak, flank, tendon, and tripe). The meat looked beat up and the soup broth was just lukewarm. Everyone knows a great bowl of pho has to be piping hot! The lady went with the chicken pho. Now this was the way to go. 5 stars for this one. Broth was steaming hot and endless amounts of boneless chicken pieces. Best thing about the chicken pho is it's made with chicken broth, they don't use the same beef stock for the regular pho. I don't know many places that does that. Kudos to you Pho Oregon for that. Minus a star for over priced avocado shake, $3.50 and it wasn't even good. Lacking taste, too much ice, needed more avocado. Every time I leave this place I reek of that damn pho smell! It's like that at most pho places but this one always seems to be the worst. Overall, 3 STARS

I always get my pho to go. It's so filling that I have leftovers, and to go, the noodles, veggies and meat don't get soaked and mushy. It's all separated for future use. Also, to go, they give you the perfect amount of sauce to make the broth taste just right. Pho Oregon, didn't even GIVE me sauces... I'll let them slide, maybe it was an accident and luckily I have hoisin at home ( I think that's what they use) I always go to Pho Da Lat on 102nd and Sandy, but decided to try this place because of all the yelp buzz. I should have stuck with what I like. My pho was $8.75 here, and the meat quantity and quality was good, but I prefer more veggies, which, Pho Oregon hardly gave me. I also ordered their salad rolls, which needed some more asian flair.. I put my basil from my Pho into them, which improved them. I will say their peanut sauce is probably the best I've ever had, which is what I bumped them up to the 2nd star for. Anyway, guess I should go review Pho Da Lat now..

I enjoyed Pho Oregon. Fast service, pretty good pho and close to where I live. It still doesn't beat my regular spot, but come in a close 2nd. I will be back. Only complaint is the broth is a bit salty, but not bad.

Hands down the best pho in town. This being Portland with a decent population of Vietnamese, we could expect a certain level of authenticity and quality in our Vietnamese restaurants. I ventured from restaurant to restaurant searching for a good pho, but none (not even pho hung) can even come close to the quality served at Pho Oregon. Broth is always consistent, flavorful but not too salty or oily. They always give you a good portion of meat. The quality of the meat and veggies are always fresh. You also have a good amount of other options other than noodles.

It's been a long time since I came all the way out here, but my band had a gig next door at Red Room so I had an excuse to eat a "traditional" St Paddy's Day bowl of pho. Hey, the basil is green! I believe a diner's favorite part of eating pho determines which pho joint is the best to visit. Broth is key: PO's is good, maybe even great, but I like mine a bit murkier/more herbal in flavor. If it were just about broth I would probably stick with Luc Lac, Dalat, or Toast & Pho (despite the latter's bad labor relations history). But by the end of a bowl at Pho Oregon I drop in what's left of my chili/hoisin dip for a little extra flavor and slurp up the whole bowl greedily because it's still darn good. Fresh veggies matter, though there's not a ton of variance there, and I like that these guys serve culantro instead of cilantro. Both might be nice, but whatever. The noodles have to be treated well (not so hard, but I've seen some real let-downs) and these guys do it fine. Lots of options for the beef is great too, and these guys have almost every possible combination on their menu. (For some reason nobody anywhere, including here, seems to sell a combo with *all* my favorites *and* without tripe, but I manage.) I usually get the #7 (I think) which has all stuff I like, nothing I don't, and round steak instead of flank for the lean portion isn't much of a compromise. Size and value are important of course; pho is pretty much always generously portioned but this seems on the larger end and the prices here are in line with the rest of the city's better soup slingers. My large pho was pricier than happy hour chicken strips next door, but not much, and it was a lot tastier. But for me what makes pho is the beefiness. Specifically the beef tendon. And these guys make the best in Portland. Tender but still something to chew on, full of flavor (really, if you hate eating the weird parts of pho you have to try it!) and just delicious. They also do large pots of pretty decent free jasmine tea, a mean Vietnamese chicken curry that reminds me of great holes-in-the-wall in Allston, and fresh rolls that incorporate an awesome fried spring roll (I think it's got shrimp paste inside) with the veggies and grilled meats; hell, if it's your thing they even serve pho with "pizzle" (one guess what that is) which I don't see a lot of reason to try but knock yourself out! Plus, Lanvin bakery in back is quite good (they provide bread and cookies for a lot of the SE Asian markets along Sandy Blvd).

The #1 Pho Oregon is an 8 dollar ticket to a front-row spot at a Lady Gaga concert in your mouth. That is to say, it was bliss in a bowl. You can pretend the chopped scallions are the eye sparkles she's been sporting recently if you like. The portions of the tripe, tendon, and beef slices were extremely generous, of high-quality, and very well-cooked. The beautiful tangle of noodles resting just under the fantastic broth were of the perfect consistency, and the bitter greens and bean sprouts were a perfect complement to the somewhat greasy broth. I definitely wouldn't mind being in a "bad romance" with the pho from this place! But I'll pass on the polar bear cape and the sparking bra... And the service was warm, prompt, and overall fantastic for an Asian restaurant. Pho Ory-gone (breaking the pronunciation down for the out-of-staters) is pho sho' my new favorite Vietnamese place in portland...

Sitting in a valley on Northeast 82nd Avenue across the street from Madison High School, Pho Oregon is worthwhile of a lengthy trek for a bowl of pho, a popular Vietnamese beef soup that's an effective hangover palliative. With the myriad pho restaurants in the Portland area, it's easy to overlook Pho Oregon - and that's something I advise you not to do, because the cuisine at this place outshines those served by most other Vietnamese restaurants. Park your automobile in the back, walk into the cafeteria-like dwelling, and you'll be promptly seated at a table with the assistance of an eager employee. If you arrive on a Sunday afternoon as I once did, you'll likely encounter a noisy, bustling establishment full of Vietnamese families who've just paid their dues at church. Soon after you place your order with the server, expect your selections to be prepared in the kitchen with the alacrity of a NASCAR pit stop crew. Your food will arrive promptly. Potstickers, served four pieces per order, are fresh out of the fryer, crispy, and mouth-burning hot. Good. Filled with a delightful mixture of meat and vegetables, these finger foods are accompanied by a dipping sauce comprised of soy sauce and red chili paste. A large order of the round steak and brisket option under the pho section of the menu contains steaming-hot beef broth, thin rice noodles, onions, coriander, and green onions, accompanied by a side of garnishes: bean sprouts, basil, culantro (not to be confused with cilantro), jalapeno slices, and a wedge of lime. The pieces of round steak, still red on arrival, quickly turn brown with a stir of the bowl. It must be noted that the star ingredient of this dish is the brisket - lean and flavorful, it reminds me why people slaughter beloved cows and eat their flesh. The brisket was so memorable, on a later visit I opted for a bowl of pho with brisket alone. I anticipate that I'll be going this route on every future visit. On every visit, all ingredients are fresh and robust, and the broth's seasonings and level of unctuousness are perfectly balanced. You may develop an urge to consume every last drop in the bowl. For an Asian restaurant of its caliber, Pho Oregon's menu items are very reasonably priced. Almost all entrees are under $10. Don't let the location on 82nd Avenue deter you from patronizing this establishment. Pho Oregon is now my go-to place to get my fix of Vietnamese bovine soup.

My wife had the banh xeo (Vietnamese Omelette) and devoured it. This is her go-to dish at any Vietnamese food restaurant. I too devoured my Tai Chin (which is Pho with brisket and round steak)... Everything was so fresh, delicious and filling. The atmosphere is the best for any Vietnamese restaurant I've been to in town. We will definitely be back soon!

I have been to a lot of pho restaurants and this is by far the best pho in Portland. The staff is friendly, the price is good, and the atmosphere is nice. They do have a vegetarian option as well as beef broth with vegetables instead of meat.

My father is an old Vietnamese man with a mustache. That's right. A mustache. You know what that makes him? A reliable source when it comes to Vietnamese food. Reading the reviews for this place and for Pho Van, I can't believe that Pho Van could be rated in the same genre as Pho Oregon (Viet food). The picture thats currently here for the establishment isn't the one that's being reviewed (that place used to be on Sandy and closed down). This Pho Oregon is the one in the Asian promenade on 82nd ave., near Madison high school. I'll post on Pho Van's page regarding their shoddy service/food, as I don't want to clutter up Pho Oregon's page, so if you want to do a comparative analysis, check it out there. But Pho Oregon: that's just good Vietnamese food. The place is like a huge, clean cafeteria and set up like one of my uncles' houses, and the food is like something my aunt would cook for a birthday party; no cheap imitations, and portioned to try and fatten up her petite niece (who doesn't need it, mind you). Although my grandmother's cooking is better, it's only because my grams is a beast in the kitchen, and no establishment could beat her cooking. But Pho Oregon comes pretty close. Yes, because it's so big, it may look empty at times (okay, so they could jazz the place up a bit), but the service is fast, the prices are great, and the food is just good. Says who? My father, that's who. And he's got a mustache, so you better recognize.

What can I say about Pho Oregon. It good and decent the outside appearance may look kind of scary since the parking lot and stuff look kind of sketchy, but when you step inside it nice and clean. Very simple place that sell good Pho and other rice and noddle dishes. Service is great everyone really nice and always filling your water and getting you more tea. It really busy during weekend at noon. They clean up fast to, not like some other places where the pho dishes sit at the table for a while gathering flys and stuff. The place is good if you looking for simple Pho and such. Good place to go with your family.

I have been coming here since I was in high school. It's delicious, the broth is hearty and always full of authentic flavor. You know what really pisses me off though? When they hand you your bowl and their fingers are halfway into your broth while holding on to the rim on the bowl. Are you serious? Did you think I won't catch that? That's freaking disgusting. There are times when you get someone who knows how to hold onto the bowl with no fingers dipping in the delicious, hearty broth but most of the time, you're in for a gamble.

The pho oregon special of the house here is delicious - if you didn't know that tripe and tendon could not only be edible but add hugely to a dish, pho is a good place to start. They add a complimentary texture that just works, without being challenging at all, other than appearance at first. The tendon looks like pieces of bone and cartilage, but it has been slow cooked until surprisingly tender. Add sriacha and hoisin sauce and it's on... You can get it with just flank steak, or brisket, or meatballs, or noodles only etc. if the idea of tripe and tendon sounds gross. There are also excellent vermicelli noodle dishes here. What really intrigued me was the Banh Mi place in the back of the building... We saw a man rolling out the loaves and letting them rise for the next day. I bet those are amazing. It was closed when I was there, but if I have a chance I will go back. Someone let me know if they have been there!

I was told this was the best and honestly it's about the same at Pho Van. The service is abysmal, but that's to be expected at these Asian joints. I'm not convinced that this is the best just because I came from Philly where Pho was awesome. I'm stlil looking...

I love this place! if you go the #1 is great, but i REALLY like #24.. Pork Pho, with a rich pork broth, slices of thin tasty pork, thin slices of pork liver, and a couple quail eggs, perfectly soft boiled in the hot broth as a nice surprise. The salad rollsa are great and the peanut dipping sauce is outstanding!. ive made myself hungry now... think i'll go there tonight!

The place had a decent size crowd for a Sunday night. I had the spring rolls (salad roll) and the Pho with round steak. The food was ok, and the staff was friendly. The broth was ok, nothing absolutely spectacular, it was pretty standard Pho fare, nothing really disappointed here. One odd thing I noticed was that the noodles stuck together a lot more than I had expected initially. The place was pretty spacious. That said, the down side is that this was more expensive than the Pho places in the bay area, Boston, or Virginia. Considering that this is Portland, it's a bit odd.

The old Pho Oregon on Sandy BLVD changed owner but the one on 82nd is the best Pho in Portland. Everytime i'm here for pleasure or business this is the place I come for a bowl of pho. Pho Dac Biet or Pho Gau Phin are excellent. You can't find any other place that still serve Pho Gau Phin anymore. Plenty of parking and the service is excellent and fast.

Sometimes, I look at the reviews on this page and wonder if I somehow stumbled into an alternate dimension Pho Oregon. This is hands down the worst Vietnamese food of any sort I've ever had in my life. Not only were there enough bone shards in my pho ga to fertilize a sizable community garden, it was served to me with only dry white meat even after I specifically asked for dark meat. This has never been an issue at a Vietnamese restaurant, though the request is often met with surprise and a joke about how it's not typical white girl behavior. ;) Pho Oregon also likes to make up for their flavorless broth by serving it hot enough to melt tungsten. I'm really not aiming for hilarious hyperbole when I say the stuff tastes like what you might expect out of a can of generic chicken broth from any old grocery store. It was yellow, for fuck's sake! I've noticed plenty of reviews with disclaimers about not really knowing what constitutes good pho, but seriously... go to Pho Hung. I don't understand how this place has 4 1/2 stars -- the food here is absolutely unforgivable.

OMG. So good. I was in Portland for 5 days and ate there on the first day, and I had to go back on the fifth day because it was so good. Delicious pho. Service is not super excellent, but hey, the noodles are amazing. So whatever right?

I've been here so many times. The service is fast..very very fast. the pho is quite excellent, great broth big portions and good price. We've tried the curry on a different occasion and it was mouth wateringly delicious, for no pho-y-ness i would highly recommend it. This last time I was feeling also like I needed to branch out into their very large menu. I chose the special combo wrap plate, easily the most expensive thing at $12 and enough for two. The meat was tasty and the herbs served were of an awesome variety. There was an herb included that was kind of bitter and lemony and one that tasted almost exactly like shiso. Mr. Ben got the crepe. which wasn't disappointing, but I wouldn't get again. All in all it's really an excellent choice in dining.

Pho Night is pretty much a weekly event at my house (even in the summer... especially this summer, which is kind of like November), and Pho Oregon is our go-to. We live near 82nd Avenue, which means the world is our oyster as far as pho joints go, and through many laborious taste tests, Pho Oregon has emerged as the triumphant victor! The broth... oh, the broth. Really, this is the deal maker for any pho worth its name, and Pho Oregon really does it right. It's rich, complex, perfectly seasoned and always, always delicious. Sometimes the meat is a little fatty and untrimmed for my taste, so I just get the #16 - all round steak - and I don't have to worry about *shudder* gristle. The #47 vermicelli is amazing, and I always intend to try something other than pho, but.... the BROTH. It's like a drug. And also, in case you are wondering what Broth with Pizzle is, here you go: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pi…

We were headed out of Portland and it was only a little out of the way from I-84. The food was very good. Everything was fresh and the service was fast. My girlfriend and I had different beef pho dishes. Some of the best pho I've had. Our craving for pho was definitely satisfied. It included a fairly large amount of meat, even in the small. The bill, with tip included was 20.90. This also included complimentary tea. The atmosphere was pretty loud and casual. It would probably be a great place to go with a large group of friends.

I didn't expect much because of its location and its name, but dayum, that was some really good pho. They certainly don't skimp on their meats. The #1 pho is really the best pho you can get. Also #28 was random but really good beef with perfect baguette to dip into the broth. Also, a plus that it's so spacious and service is top-notch.

Delicious broth makes this place shine. I really enjoyed my bowl and didn't feel compelled to pour in the hoisin or sriracha or chili paste. It was just right. The spring rolls were very good too, but I felt the could offer the tofu un-fried and they would be even better. The side veggies that came with the pho were very fresh and everything was great. Service was good here and the price is very reasonable.

Pho-NOM-inal Pho. Sure, you might find better pho in Orange County or Saigon, but this is Pho Oregon ... in Oregon ... so, finding phenomenal pho worthy of nom-nom-nom status is worthy of a rare 5-stars. A large Pho Tai Nam Sach (#8 - $8.95) is the source of my love for Pho Oregon thanks to a simply addictive Beef Broth, perfectly-soft Pho noodles, and slices of Round Steak. The sides of Mint, Sprouts, Lime, and Peppers were a complex flavor burst made explosive thanks to extra lime and extra chili peppers (ask for these!). After finishing a large bowl, I almost ordered another ... seriously. Far less exciting, but totally meal worthy was an appetizer of Oregon Nem Cuon (2 for $6.95). These Grilled Pork Rolls with Veggies in a Rice Wrapper don't come any where near Brodard's legendary version, but, again, these are Oregon Nem Cuon and you're in Oregon. The biggest improvement for the Nem Cuon needed aren't the rolls, but figuring out the dipping sauce. Keeping with the Oregon theme, my wife and I also split a Che Oregon drink for a cold refreshing blend of Beans, Fruit, and Coconut Milk. There are better Che chains around, but, you guessed it, this is Che Oregon. So, for great pho in Oregon, do as Oregonians do ... eat at Pho Oregon Restaurant on NE 82nd Ave. It's Pho-NOM-inal!!

I'm pro condiments. This place has a squeeze bottle of plum sauce, a full tank of Thai Sriracha, a small tub of Chinese pepper and oil, a vinegar shaker, and all the little dishes you want to secure your own portions. You don't need to ask. It's all there on a tray when you sit down. And the vegan Vietnamese crepe is my life.

Very well pho broth. Excuse me for my suspecting but I think there is MSG inside. Hopefully they don't have it. But heck, the broth was so good. I don't usually order PhO (I don't think I do at all because my mom is a great Pho cooker) ,yet this place makes me wanting Pho every time I come. The services don't speak English much so don't expect to ask any questions about ingredients. Over all, 4 stars out of 5

This is the best place for Pho I have found in Portland thus far. Best service and best broth. The greens are fresh, the portions are good the menu is extensive. I hope to return to try many more items. I want to try the vegetarian pho here. I really want to give this place 4.5 stars but I was unable to do so. This place was suggested by a couple of friends after my husband had found it online and stopped in one day without me. He took me there because he knows I L O V E Pho. The were all correct this place is great.

Appropriately named Pho Oregon (Pronounced "forgun)" this is the first pho establishment in Oregon I've patronized where the beef broth is actually beefy. Being that I'm beefy, I like like my beef beefy as well. I'm an adventurous eater. Tripe and tendon, no worries mate. But when I saw pizzle soup on the menu...well, I totally respect the cultural difference here, but I just personally feel it violates some kind of karmic rule for a man to eat another man's thing that rhymes with "stick." I say "man" but really we're talking about a cow here. Perhaps the choice of word emphasizes just how much I empathize with males of other species who are parted from their instruments of procreation. Pizzle quibble aside, I was shocked not just with the superior quality of the broth in my tried and true #3 (it's always the #3 at every pho place I go), but also with the quality of--surprise, surprise--the beef itself. Unlike the rubbery, flavorless morsels I am acclimated to elsewhere, the beef chunks in my soup were sizable, and what's more, they were very tender, like a slow-cooked roast that's been sitting in a crockpot for 24 hours. The ensemble was all the more amazing given the fact that I was feeling really queasy when I came here. I left here a new man, and I didn't even need to part with my pizzle.

Delicious Vietnamese noodle and rice dishes, spacious restaurant, wide selection on the menu, reasonable prices, prompt service. Pho Oregon is one of the best pho restaurants in Portland. We often come Sunday during lunchtime with groups of 4-8 people. We never have to wait longer than 5-10 minutes since there are lots of tables. Pho dac biet - big, steaming bowl of noodles with generous portion of beef and soup. The broth is flavorful and meat is cooked well. Ratios of meat to noodles are good. Nice with the basil, lime and bean sprout garnish. Get a side of raw onions for extra crunch. Bun rieu - I love bun rieu because it is a tasty comfort food for me, and they do it well here. The soup is tart and savory, the tomato, crab, tofu and vermicelli noodles are yummy. Bun mang vit - warm and simple soup with vermicelli noodles, chewy bamboo and balanced with a refreshing cabbage salad topped with duck and a side of fish sauce. Bun thit nuong - delicious grilled pork and shrimp skewer with crispy egg roll, served on a bed of fresh veggies, vermicelli and a side of fish sauce. Can't go wrong with vermicelli bowl to satisfy your hunger. Cafe sua da - they make it nice and strong here, with rich coffee and creamy sweet condensed milk. It is nice to wait for the ice to melt a little to chill the drink and slowly dilute throughout drinking it. Che ba mau - they make a nice 3 colored jelly dessert with mung bean and coconut. sweet, delicious and refreshing. Service is not bad. Waiters are quick to take your order and the wait for the food is about 5-10 minutes. They tend to bring out non-pho orders to your table first before bringing the pho orders. They can be a little tricky to track throughout the meal, but fortunately there is a center table at the middle of the restaurant by the cash register where you can grab extra utensils, small bowls, straws, and to-go cups of you don't mind grabbing it yourself. Pay at the register just like any other typical pho joint. Overall great pho and Viet food. Nice to grab some bakery goodies next door too. Definitely will be back again in the future.

We love this place. Absolutely no other pho restaurant in Portland that can beat the beef broth here. It is always on point, always flavored perfectly, and as expected of pho -- always speedy. It's also nice that since the restaurant is so big, you rarely have to wait for a table even when they're super busy. The only beef (hehe get it?) I have with pho Oregon is that most of their servers don't speak English. As in, none. So when your food is delivered to your table and you need something else, you are just given a confused look and pointed towards another server. I LITERALLY ask for extra onions and cilantro every time I go, and can't get anyone who seems to understand. Oh well, the broth is worth it :)

Despite the kind of average name, this place is far from ordinary. The pho is the best I've ever had. All other phos pale in the face of this majestic bowl. The giant bowl of steaming golden broth had all the right flavors. Lots of depth, fragrant and savory. The noodles cooked perfectly and the chicken somehow wasn't dry (as I'd experienced before.) We sampled and added accoutrement to get the pho to its perfect state. They had some kind of special sauce that I'd not seen before. I think maybe it's fish sauce based but can't be sure. Our spring rolls, bowls of pho were bother moderately priced and over-sized. THough I can't compare it against pho in Portland, it sure beats the pants off what I've had in Austin.

Japanese, Vietnamese and Thai food are the only Asian cuisines I have not lost all hope to eat in PDX--I gave up on Chinese and Korean after trying to some greasy, sad places. Based collecting recommendations from Vietnamese acquaintances, Pho Oregon is one of the three best places for beef broth pho is this place, the other being Pho Hung and surprisingly the uber-hip Luc Lac. For beef Pho, they have almost every single meat combination of meat option, fatty brisket, lean brisket, flank steak, round steak, tendon, tripe. I decided i wanted to stay fairly healthy, so I picked a combo with only lean meats. The broth was strong. Definitely could taste the anise seed, cloves, and maybe some cardamom they put into it. It also came with the standard basil, lime, and sprouts trio that can be added as an option. My most surprising discovery was the avocado smoothie with the shot of fresh espresso--wow. coffee, condensed milk, avocado, ice. surprising combo that I have never seen before. The only gripe I have about this place was that it was a bit run down and perhaps dirty (enough we decided to wash out chopsticks with the tea like I remember I had to in HK), and also the service was very abrupt--they weren't doing anyone favors since it was all about volume and getting people out the door.

I don't do pho, so why did I come...to meet a friend. Why don't i do pho, because I'm a vegetarian who is allergic to onions. I did find tofu and noodles with veggies. It was good. I had to ask for cilantro and peanuts. My friend had a big ole bowl of pho and a viet cafe and enjoyed very much. I stuck w/ hot tea as the evening was chilly. As for the environment, stay home if you want a cozy atmosphere. This place is filled with horribly bright lights and chairs so upright I felt I might be ejected at any moment. Real weird.

I had the beef stew with the French bread and I don't know maybe I just really like bread but the French bread was awesome. Also they have so many more choices on the menu then pho which was refreshing to see. This place is huge.

Solid service, good Pho, though not my favorite in the area as it is VERY authentic. The broth was not very interesting, which was sad as I expected more based on all the reviews. Its possible my Western palette doesn't appreciate the one note of this broth. Overall, a good experience, but I doubt I'll be a frequent customer.

I over did it, again... Everything at Pho Oregon is delicious. Today I had the pho gà, the guy had the #49 bún and we split the spring rolls. I really enjoy the pho gà here, the chicken slices are so thick and plentiful plus it comes with nuac mam gung which I love to soak my chicken in while I tear through my bowl of pho. The crepe is also good, filled with bean sprouts, chicken and shrimp. It's accompanied with a mountain of herbs and lettuce to wrap everything in.

Pho is now $10 here! that's the standard #1 PHO Dac Biet. Everything else is still the same tho. I love their PHO here. So this three star review only reflects the ridiculous price increase...my opinion only. I'm used to the days when it was around $5-6 as they steadily keep increasing. still plenty of other PHO places nearby that are just as good for less price. but hey, if they can get away with it then good for them.

Weak. Got some rice paper rolls that could have come from Safeway, and another plate of roll my own roles that was a pile of lettuce and mint with a few noodles and what tasted like grilled hot dog. Wife got an shrimp omelet thing that had four small shrimp in it. Vietnamese coffee wasn't made at the table, but brought pre-mixed in a glass overflowing w/ice. The rest of the coffee stayed in the glass behind the bar. These guys are coasting on reputation and I'm not coming back.

From the outside it does not look special at all. From the inside it still doesn't look special, but please DO NOT let that stop you from enjoying some of the best Pho around. Our waiter did not speak English very well so don't expect to get a conversation out of them. We started with the salad rolls. They rolls itself were average but the it came with the best peanut sauce I have ever had! As we waited for our pho the smells coming from near by tables had my mouth watering like crazy! I ordered the #13 with round steak and flank steak and it was delicious! I had been craving pho for weeks and it definitely hit the spot. The flank steak was pretty fatty, so if you're not into that you should stick with just the round steak or get the pho ga, which is also amazing. Now that its starting to get colder I will be here all the time, the little vietnamese bakery next door is super charming as well. Try the mung bean moon cake!

This was the most visited Pho restaurant when I lived in that area of town. The Pho comes out piping hot and the food is very consistent and good. The waiters are always friendly and no matter how busy it gets, they always get your meal out to you in a reasonable amount of time. I've tried almost everything on the menu and it is all pretty good. The outside of the building looks a little sketchy but the inside is very clean.

If you're looking for good pho in Portland, OR, Pho Oregon is the place for you. I have been to several Pho places around Portland and Beaverton, and haven't found a place quite as good as Pho Oregon. The restaurant is nice and clean and the staff is friendly. It is definitely worth checking out.

Bun bo hue is my go to dish at almost every new Vietnamese restaurant I try. The broth here was pretty tasty though I've had better. I always judge this dish before tasting the soup based on the type of veggies it comes out with, and banana blossom is usually a must. Sure enough they had it! They're missing pork sausages usually found with this dish.

Celebrated two Birthdays over a superb lunch of vegetarian Phò and Phò Oregon didn't disappoint! Great service, extensive menu, super fresh ingredients! It was a epicurean experience. The Phò was as beautiful as it was delicious! #1 in Portland. Grateful!

The Pho is really good! The only downside to this place is it can be quite noisy, sort of a cafeteria atmosphere.

    (4)
  • Erin A.

Great pho! Great flavors, great price. Nice and quick staff. I do have to take a star off for how LOUD it is. It's one large room with no upholstery or carpeting/rugs so sounds just bounce everywhere. Lots of families bring their babies here which, hey cool, but a crying baby at Pho Oregon is extra loud due to the amphitheater acoustics. I sometimes end up choosing a different pho place out of fear of how loud pho Oregon would be at that time of day (busy lunch or Dinner time). But off hours are fine.

  • Regina I.

This is going to be short but sweet ! Hands down the best pho in ptown. When you walk in its obvious they are about getting you seated and getting you served! Totally pleased with their service and their quality of pho soup! It's fresh and filling!

Large space inside. Clean and pretty nice looking and on a Sunday afternoon on a cloudy day, uber' busy. I was Seated, ordered and food / drinks of water and tea brought within 10 minutes. I had the Small Pho' # 2 - Slices of Round Steak, Flank Steak, Fatty Brisket, Tendon and Tripe. ($7.95) The Pho' looks out of this world with rare beef floating on top taunting me. The broth.. Beefy. Fresh. Yummy. Vegetables fresh like they were picked out back. It was really busy and the noise a bit loud but after the screaming hot liquid magma that is Pho' hit my senses... Game Over. I fell into that bowl as if I were in love. The world went away for a minute as I enjoyed lunch. The menu has got to be that good if you have such a big turnover. As fast as they leave the table is taken. You can tell people like Pho' Oregon by all the love aka several newspaper articles on the walls. One from YELP. Clearly all letters of praise because the Pho' is truly one of the best. I like that you can see into the kitchen. You need really good food to be brave enough for the customers to be able to look into the kitchen. You would be offended by many places if you were able to see the food before you ate.

At their NE 82nd and Brazee (Portland location since 2003, staff are very helpful to people like me with very limited knowledge of Vietnamese food beyond knowing how to pronounce "pho" (fuh = soup). Good food, wonderful service, moderate price. A very good restaurant.

Good pho! The broth is comparable to what I would get in the San Jose, CA/south bay area. I'm not sure if it was me but the noodles were a bit off, like the broth wasn't quite hot enough to penetrate and cook the noodles. It had bite but not much chewiness. They also make bun mam here which I didn't like. It tasted like a bunch of reconstituted dried seafood. It was particularly fishy and sweet in a way that wasn't appealing. I love the pungent flavors of fish sauce and friends but not this. My partner said it's like drinking salted fish and chicken fried rice, which I love! But I'll stick to the pho. Everything else is typical of a pho place. I guess it was particularly clean and the service was prompt. It's a large space, good for big family gatherings. Next door, there's a Vietnamese French bakery with finally reasonably priced bahn mi. The sandwiches were ok, the bread was the saddest part but the filling wasn't bad.

If you're looking for Pho this is the place to go. After living in the Bay Area and moving up to Oregon I thought I wouldn't even find a decent Pho spot, I was wrong. I had the Pho Ga, chicken pho, my go to dish and was happily surprised with how good the broth was. My only criticism is the noodles, they're just a little more bland then I'm used to. The chicken pieces are giant! Pretty much got a whole breast in my soup~ I'm not used to this sauce that comes on the side, like a garlic sweet sauce, no need for it anywhere near the pho. :) Food aside, the ambiance is very warm, clean and inviting. I had the pleasure of meaning Loc (I think that's how he spelled his name!), the owner of this establishment. He's originally from San Jose, explains why the Pho is spot on ;) and has been here for 14 years! Everyone is incredible friendly and courteous here as well. Colored me impressed, I will most certainly be back again and hopefully get others onto the hype of Pho Oregon.

One of the best if not best pho places I've been to in Oregon. Pho here is delicious and is served fairly quickly. Flavorful broth too. The only thing is that I will it was a little cleaner and the ventilation was better. The whole place has a strong smell that's left in your clothes.

Oregon Pho is our second favorite place to eat pho, their pho is delicious! Always a great flavor, the broth is delicious and the noodles are just perfect! we always walk out happy and satisfied. Prices are great, the place is big and they have enough sitting, they sell beer which is great! Always fast service, but definitely not the best service, once they take your order and deliver your food is hard to get the employees attention in case you need something else. Not much parking, and maybe the place can look cleaner. The five stars are definitely just for the great pho that this place has and the great prices! We definitely recommend this place if you want to eat a good pho, you won't be disappointed :)

This is one of my favorite Pho restaurants. The staff is always friendly and greets you right away. The decor is very nice and bright and there's so much space that I've never had to wait for a table. The Pho broth is fresh and very flavorful. The bowls are full of yummy hot noodles and good cuts of meat and veggies. I typically get the #12 which is just round steak and lean brisket or the vegetarian with tofu pho when im not in a meat mood. Tonight though, I decided to try something new and got the #57, its the bun mam. I'm a seafood lover and I loved the broth of this soup. It had a yummy stong fishy broth, full of vermicelli noodles with shrimp, pork, fish and eggplant. I definitely will be getting this again.

This is my favorite Pho place in Oregon! I always order the Mi Bo Vien and it is consistent and delicious! I really should try something else at some point. The staff are friendly and you don't have to sit and wait long for your order to come out. My recommendation is that if you are ordering to go, definitely call ahead first! I will see you again Pho Oregon! You and your delicious egg noodles in pork broth!

Pho Oregon is one of our two very favorite Pho places in Oregon. This and Butterfly Belly. Pho Oregon is literally the best you can do in Portland- they have a wonderful quality of broth and beef, and a generous portion and great service. We'd gone to Pho Hung for quite a while, and hated the service. Kind of hated going in there. The BEST Pho we've had in our travels all around is in Seattle and in Las Vegas, but that's quite a commute. It's hard for me to choose between Butterfly Belly and Pho Oregon. Butterfly Belly takes out that msg and does an honest, wholesome pho. Pho Oregon comes as close as possible to the best classic pho. It's definitely one of our two faves.

You know, we made a rule once. No eating at restaurants on 82nd Avenue. This was after several food-poisoning type experiences at Places that Will Go Unnamed. BUT. A need for pho overpowered us one day, and we found ourselves here. Pho Oregon is a glorious pho emporium. A pho-porium, if you will. It's massive inside, and so are the portions. The toppings are plentiful and everywhere. The folks behind the counter are helpful and sweet and just generally all-around awesome. You can have tea and SO MANY KINDS of pho and all kinds of other things I didn't get to try. We'll be back, Pho Oregon. (Phoregon?). Even though you are on 82nd Avenue.

Very good pho place. It is quite loud there, but the pho is very tastey and the service is above average.

Good tasting pho, adequate portion, pleasant service, good decor. I eat pho 2 or 3 days / week at numerous establishments. I recommend this place.

Very good pho. The broth is very good. It's not watered down, and it has a good flavor without being too meaty/heavy. Portions are good and the value is excellent. I haven't tried the non-Pho items.
