I have been to Pastini's in Bridgeport numerious times and loved it, excellent quality and clean atmosphere. I took my mother to Pastini's last night for dinner off NW 23rd before a concert and it was terrible. First no A/C on a 80 degree day, the food was terrible, the waitress got our order wrong and we were in a hurry so we were unable to have it corrected. The pesto bread that I love was stale and old, the chicken was over cooked and our table was dirty with fruit flies all over. I will never go to that location again and I would hope that Management will make a serious change.

THE WORST SERVICE! I would give this place 0 stars if I could! My girlfriend and I went in and were seated, about 10 minutes later a table of 8 was seated, they not only ordered before us but had food before even our drink order was taken! We stayed and the food was mediocre. I left a $0 tip, for poor service I generally leave at least 10%. Not this time, wrote a letter to corporate and never received a response. Will never go to another Pastini. Ever.

Went here 2 weeks ago for one of our kids' birthdays in the middle of a heat wave and boy was it semi-uncomfortable. I don't believe they have A/C as it was kind of muggy inside and felt borderline uncomfortable, especially with a packed house and tons of people everywhere. As for the food, I would say its Average. Not the best, but A-OK. as any chain restaurant. Had a basic salad and margarita and i felt good after. Kids loved the pasta's and fruity drinks and overall enjoyed themselves. As for recommending it to others, i wouldn't say to not stop by, but be warned and read all the other reviews out there. Dont expect 100% dining experience as this restaurant is not shooting for that. Its a OK family restaurant for a reasonable price.

Nothing too impressive. We walked in expecting a little more than what it is. We got seated right away and didn't have to wait long for our food to arrive. The portions I thought were a little small but the food was still good.. Not much a beer selection . This was our first time visiting Portland, and I wish we'd of found some thing a little bit better to take in the local experience.

Great place for dinner with (or without) kids. We dropped in early on a beautiful August Friday evening after a day at the zoo. Our girls (4 & 6) enjoyed their mac & cheese) and ate up the kid-size order of broccolini. Their real fave, though, was the strawberry lemonade. Wife had linguini with chicken that she loved. I had a bite and agreed. But, I liked my erechietta (sp?) with crumbled sausage even more. Green salad was generous and tasty with just the right amount of dressing for me. As in, I had to check to see if the salad had been dressed. Our server, Joseph, was friendly, prompt, and knowledgeable. He knew the menu cold and gave us good wine tips. The food was a little too salty, but not as egregiously over-salted as many places go. I'd go back on a heartbeat. This was our last supper on a two-week Oregon vacation and it left us all sad to be leaving and looking forward to returning.

This was the first Pastini location we visited and is by far the of them all. My wife and I went to the location in Beaverton and had an awful experience. This location has great service with incredibly well prepared, delicious food. Every time we've been to this location, we've been so impressed. I typically get the pesto dish and it's one of my all time favorite pesto dishes I've had. We highly suggest this place as a must-do for some great food!

For some reason I had not heard of this local chain. My wife is more tied in to the local food scene and turned me on to this place. I am glad she did. I hate here for dinner on my birthday mainly because of their outstanding birthday special. You can get a free entre once you sign up on their website. There are no strings attached such as where you typically have to buy one entre get one free. I had the Ravioli with Wild Mushroom Ragu special. I added some Spicy Italian Sausage to my entre for no charge (normally, I think it would be been $2 or $2.50). Food quality was great. You can tell that the ingredients are fresh (local) and not the mass produced ingredients you get at your Olive Gardens and other restaurants. If you haven't been I would definitely recommend it. Enjoy!

We thought it odd that on a lovely warm Sat night, a party of 5 would be seated quickly at 6:00pm. Should have been an indication. Altho the service was nice and pleasant, the food was just...bland. Not enough seasoning. We all had the same complaint. Probably would not come back.

I heart Pastini so so much more than Justa Pasta. It's so much better than other franchises like Bucca di Beppo, Pasta Pomodoro, Maggiano's. Good Italian food shouldnt have to cost an arm and a leg. Pastini is affordable and serves really solid, delicious dishes. Service was good even though the place was packed on a Friday night. My favorites from the menu are: *bruschetta with artichoke-aoli spread- the spread is very flavorful and full of garlic and artichoke *baby spinach salad was excellent, but i was loving the bacon bits too too much *the linguine with misto mare- the seafood tasted fresh and the sauce was very subtle but packed with flavor I will definitely return to Pastini whenever I visit PDX. I hope Pastini comes to CA one day, soon.

WOW! the SAUCE WAS GREAT! i was really shocked on how good the sauce was at this place! really good, service was great! wonderful wine collection. i will be back here every time i come to Portland for work! love this place! i had a vegetarian lasagna, perfect size, had some left overs. cant wait to finish it off for lunch today! : plus its located in a very nice shopping area and movie theater that you can visit after dinner! many smiles!

I asked him sometime ago where he wanted to go for his birthday dinner and almost immediately he said, Pastini. I'm so impressed by this place based merely on the fact that they have gluten-free pasta options on the menu. I like the atmosphere, though a little bit noisy, but being surrounded again by all that wood, more than made up for it. He had a traditional pasta dish, and I had the Ziti Vegetariano. I don't think I'm exaggerating when I say the food is stellar! The gluten-free pasta is brown rice based and somehow they know exactly how to do it. How come it's not that good when I make it? The server was spot on: Friendly, cheerful, attentive. You know how some people are just supposed to be doing that kind of work because they're so damn good at it. 5 stars are in order because the only detractor was the noise but I didn't have any trouble communicating with my boyfriend. I highly recommend this place

Worst customer service experience I have ever had. It was my birthday yesterday and I sadly chose this place. Horrible decision. Upon walking in we were greeting sub par. After being seated our waitress for the night greeted us (if that's what you call it). Took our order for drinks and just walked away without saying anything. Came back, took our order and menus. 5 minutes after taking our order she took a table of six people requests. Our appetizer came out luke-warm and tasted horribly pre packaged and frozen (spinach dip). 35 minutes go by without seeing anybody and I see a server walking towards us. Finally! Nope, the table of six got there orders before my fiancé and I. I was pretty pissed. Another 15 minutes go by for a total of 45 minutes and I was served angle hair pasta with a watery based pesto cream sauce. My fiancés sauce was also terribly watering. When they took our appetizer away they also took our utensils. So I asked the passing hostess to please grab us some. I watched her walk back to her post at the front of the house and stand there....ARE YOU KIDDING ME?! I was on fire. Sonny (fiancé) went to the nearby table to grab us some. I stopped him, wanting to see how long it took. We waited ten minutes and he grabbed them. When our waitress came back to ask us how is everything was I said "umm,I don't even know" and she responded "what.what. What's wrong what is it you don't like it or what" VERY rude. So sonny let her know and asked for a manager. She said "sorry bout that" and grabbed the ticket and card (which she plopped on the table and quickly walked away 2 minutes earlier) and walked away. We actually watched her tell the manager, manager look back and forth between her and us with a dumbfounded look, and the manager walked away!! We waited almost 5 minutes and she NEVER came over!!! The waiters and waitress give you a feeling that they hate their job and you. The food is TERRIBLE and everything tastes pre packaged. I don't even know what to say about the manager but that she shouldn't be one. (She has short hair and glasses). My birthday dinner and atmosphere was completely RUINED by everyone in the place. Never ever think about stepping foot in here. You will regret it.

My faith has been restored in Pastini on NW 23rd Street in Portland! For a while their food had gone downhill and was greasy and salty. I decided to try it today for lunch since it was walking by and had cheese ravioli and salad to go. It is just delicious and tastes like it did when they first opened. I was really happy with the salad too. Usually the salad was mostly all lettuce with no other items and today it has a mixture of lettuces, radishes and cucumber. Love the dressing too! The ravioli is perfect and not too salty. There must be a new cook at the NW location!

Walked in for the first time, Chinook Book coupon in hand, with a few friends before a theater performance. The service was attentive and timely, and we all enjoyed our pasta dishes very much, along with the order of garlic bread and a bottle of wine. The price was very reasonable, which made the dinner quite a good value. We enjoyed our dinner and plan to return to Pastini Pastaria, though perhaps one closer to the suburb where we live. (I was surprised to see a few very negative reviews below - our experience was NOTHING like what was described in those posts.)

Pastini is the bland, pasta based restaurant that you settle for when you're in a group and no one can decide where to go. And while you won't hate it, you won't really like it either.

Weekday lunch. Two very patient sweet girls (7 and 9 years old) in tow. Simple order. Mac and cheese, pasta with parmesan cheese and pasta w/garlic and olive oil. And a garden salad that had clearly sat uncovered in the fridge for a while...(in Portland, Oregon!!!!) Not once or twice but three times (after the three guys at the table next to us and the woman next to them who came in after we did but were served before) did these very patient, well-mannered and sweet girls have to ask: "Nana, when is our food coming???" [Only once did I use my old 'after they milk the cow for the cheese' response] The food was good enough though a bit price-y. Every bite on every plate was eaten (we were all ravenous by the time our food arrived) Really? 40 minutes? And not one time any check in to see how we were doing or to let us know it would be a while... Too bad.

This is pretty much my most favorite place to eat ever! The customer service is unbelievable good and the pasta is by far the best I've ever tasted. My wife and I have eaten there monthly for years and always have an awesome and tasteful experience. Kuddos to the staff for always being on top of things and creating a great dining experience with great food, which is all local by the way. Thanks again. Mike and Erinn.

I liked this place pretty well, although it had a slightly 'off' or chain-y feel to it for some reason, I never put my finger on it exactly (maybe it was just me). I liked the food, atmosphere, waitstaff, everything. Just something missing not to be a super-fav to always be wanting to go it... although frequented a number of times.

On our weekend "getaway", my wife and I had strolled by this place several times. For dinner on Saturday we decided to hit this spot for a variety of food items. We decided to order from the appetizer list, which was a great idea. We had the antipasto platter, Parmesan and cheese bread dipped in marinara sauce and a side of olives. The food came with bread which we dipped in balsamic vinegar and olive oil. The food was great, and plenty of it. Just to make sure we were completely stuffed, we shared a vanilla gelato ice cream sandwich.

Another case of elevated expectations? I don't think so. I think this was just a case of not my kind of food. Was led to believe this was a restaurant with a full menu, but it's pretty much just a bunch of different pastas. My coworker really loved his squash ravioli, but my pasta with chicken and spinach might as well have been a TV dinner in a hokey bowl. HOWEVER, their almond icecream/cookie "panini" was a fantastic and original dessert. Consider both stars for the dessert.

For years I've been a longtime fan of Pastini. The service is friendly, the meals are cheap, and most importantly, the noodles are delicious. It's a great spot for all types of eaters, from families to my fellow broke teenagers who want to treat their special someone to a night out without breaking the bank. Extra-hungry eaters will be delighted to hear you can double your portion of noodles for only $2. Note, While I've never left Pastini disappointed, it isn't exactly for the foodies. Pastini gives you exactly what you'd expect, simple, yummy pasta, not gourmet Italian cuisine.

If only there was a time line that showed my star rating of this place over time . . . something like CNN had in the last presidential debates. It even works from a Democrat vs. Republican thing because . . . okay, I won't go all political on your you-know-what. We walk up to the restaurant and wonder if it's even open since it was so empty (2-star). We are awkwardly seated at the table of our choice (3-star). We were greeted and asked if we would like something to drink and I'm asked for my ID (5-star of course, I never get carded anymore!). After awhile (too long a while), we're brought our drinks (2-star). Five or six families with children come in and are seated - seriously every table except ours had children at this point (3-star since it's not their fault, but it does lower the rating for me. I didn't know it was going to turn into Chuck E. Cheese.). We wait . . . wait . . . wait . . . and wait . . . other tables are SERVED THEIR FOOD (we were the first ones there for dinner) before we even get to order (1-star). We were apologized to, ordered and brought our food very quickly (4-star). The food is pretty good, nothing to write home about (3-star). I tire of this rating system, you get the point. Inconsistency, preference to the families with children for some reason and average food make me not too eager to go back. Pastini has been going downhill for several years, ever since they decided to do a massive push toward expanding to as many restaurants as they could. We hadn't been here in awhile and now I remember why, but it's not the worst cheap Italian food you'll get.

This place reminds me of Pasta Pomodoro. It's a sit down Italian Restaurant in Northwest Portland, yet it's got a chill enough vibe to make it feel like you don't have to impress anybody while there or by taking them there. Like, would you take your potential father-in-law to Pasta Pomodoro to ask for his daughter's hand in marriage or would you take a first date to Pasta Pomodoro? Maybe if you're in junior high, but under any other circumstances, you wouldn't. Anyway, I came here with my brother, sister in law, my cousin and his wife for a quiet Sunday evening dinner. The place is sleek yet simple and clean. We were sat in a like one of those corner, 270 degree booths where everybody has to get in and out from the same small opening. The nice server came by to give us menus and take our drink orders, also giving us a couple of minutes as we looked over the wine menu. I settled on a glass of the Montepulciano. Sundays they've got a special going on. Not a Red Light Special, or the use of a "Special Sauce", but a dinner special where you get a soup or salad, a pasta entrée (except for like the 4 most really expensive ones or something), and dessert for $11.75. Pretty good deal I might say. I got a Caesar salad, the lasagna as my entrée, and the dessert is default to tiramisu. The Caesar was good and she cracked some fresh pepper on it. The lasagna was pretty good too and the portion was pretty good. Not overflowing with one thing or another, but they didn't skimp on anything either. The sauce was good too. As for the tiramisu, I've had better. Nothing special and you could tell it's just kind of whatever for the special. Everybody else enjoyed their dishes and my sister in law had leftovers because she doesn't eat that much. Definitely wouldn't mind coming back here if I'm ever in Portland again and find myself in Northwest near NW 23rd and Kearney, or whatever cross street it was.

I never really gave Pastini's a second thought; I've lived six blocks away from the one of their locations for four years without ever entering. But then I wen to the Division location... and then my grandmother and I started going to the downtown location, gleefully ordering their recession proof Sunday Deal, one salad, a pasta, and a tiramisu for $12. Yes please. I like the cappellini pomodoro, just simple angle hair with a garlic-y, tomato and olive oil sauce, that I wipe up with their bread. And you are going to need the bread, especially if you start with side of their grilled brocollini or the roasted sweat potatoes. Yuummm. The sweet potatoes are roasted with sage leaves, so the olive oil is too precious to leave on the plate. They lose a star for their wines by the glass. I like to have a fruit forward, complex, rich red, with enough acidity to balance the flavor. No, I don't really know what I am talking about when it comes to wine, but I heard someone describe a red wine that I love like that, and I am sticking to their description, taking it as my own. Their wines by the glass all are overwhelmingly "easy drinking." I will go back for more tastes and tries, and I'll let you know if I find a winner. It's research I don't mind doing. Their servers and hostesses are polite and friendly, and seem to be sincere. And patient. There were kids crawling out of every corner last time I was there... I liked that Pastini's serve them milk with a lid and straw, they are used to having kids Pastini's is affordable, unpretentious, consistent, and has feed me almost every Sunday for the last month or two. My Grandmother also goes to the down town location during the week for other pasta deals, if she was sitting next to me right now, she would be sure to tell you a different deal for every day of the week.

Great cute place to warm the tummy on a cold January day. Service welcoming and atmosphere relaxing. We would definitely come back. Ordered their linguini off the $6 lunch special menu. Came with a Caesar salad. Perfect portions! Love their little mints afterwards too!

Just an excellent experience. We arrived around lunchtime 11:30am. We were seated right away, and our server Audra was fantastic. If you're on a gluten-free diet, like me, you have to check this place out. They make a big deal about their non-gluten options, and with good reason. Bar none, this was the best gluten-free pasta I've ever had. I ordered the fettuccini chicken marsala w/ gluten-free spaghetti. It was just awesome. My girlfriend had the roasted vegetable lasagna, and we shared a large insalada verde. All the food was top notch, and we will definitely be going back. Highly recommended.

We live just down the street and have eaten many times over the years at Pastini's and have ordered take out many times more. The quality of the food had declined over the past year to the point that I won't eat here again. Best I can say is that they are quick for take-out. The last time I ordered the butternut squash ravioli and it was nearly indelible. Swimming in oil, served with dried out chunks of bread.

Luv it!. My ex and I used to come here all the time, The salads were fantastic and so were all the pasta dishes. My friends and I come about one a month. We feel like we are in one of those commercials on TV where everyone has to order something different so we can taste each others dinners. Yeah I know that's Olive Garden, but we do it here.

I'm a very big fan of the Rigatoni Zuccati, but be sure to get it when the butternut squash is in season, or it may be a little dry and stringy. It's one of the ways in which I treat myself.

Great dining experience! Salads are outstanding. Full of flavor and lots of lovely fresh vegetables. Arugula salad was the best! Spicy greens with a Sherry vinaigrette. Pasta is good with a wide range of menu options. Pasta with lamb sauce was excellent and unusual. Personable and knowledgeable waiters. Prices are excellent.

We have eaten at this restaurant for years and have become a big fan! The food, Lasagna, Spaghetti and Meet-balls are awesome. They have a good selection of wines and the staff is first class all the way. Our server tonight and the last couple of times has been Jenna and she is awesome. Jenna knows the menu and always has great recommendations and she is very pleasant and attentive. We have given them 5 stars because it has always been a pleasure to go here and the staff has always been Great. It is really hard to find restaurants this consistent.

Hats off for great management. After our medocre dinning experience, I was warmly contacted by the co-owner of Pastini's wanting to thank me for the 'valuable' feedback, wanting a few more details regarding our experience and happy to share that she was looking forward to make needed adjustments with employee retraining We were encouraged to give them another try as their guest. Being open to constructive feedback w/o being defensive and happy for the opportunity to learn and improve is the mark of a great business. Other business should take note of their smart, mature business savvy. I'm looking forward to visiting again, with husband in tow.

My wife and I go here nearly every week (that section of town has some great shops.) The flavors blend very well, and so many of the dishes are excellent. My favs are the Canneloni frutti di mare and the Spaghetti con gamberetti. We also like the Antipasto salad for starters. Mmmmm! Never had a problem with service. We typically go in the late evening.

If you're looking for gourmet Italian, this is not the place to be. However, if you're looking for healthy portions where you and your family can gather for some fairly cheap pasta then you should check out Pastini. More suburb than hip happenin' 23rd, Pastini has that stuffy corporate feeling and reminds of the type of place that has a closet full of baby booster seats to cater to the traditional family.

I was afraid that this place was going to be a fancy-looking joint whose food was not much better than Olive Garden. My fears proved false; the pasta was properly cooked, and the sauce (I had spaghetti carbonara) was not overly oily, had good consistency, and was flavorful. I wish that someone had offered me fresh-cracked black pepper to go on the dish, but that's a minor thing: the food, as a baseline, was very nice. Especially considering the price: $17 for a glass of wine and a full dinner, including salad, pasta, and dessert. I've got to admit that I came here on a Sunday evening specifically because the Sunday night deal makes the food taste even better. Yum!

FIRST OFF, ONE THING: you have to pay for the bread basket! Really!! Unbelievable! And the waitress of course didn't tell us UNTIL the bill came. That being said, the pasta was tasty and generously sized. I had a whole meal to take home with me in a doggie bag. I tried to order a vegetable pasta to stay away from satan's calorie crazy cream sauce, but it turned up in there, and I can't say i was really too upset! The waitress was pretty annoying, and not very prompt, and yeah that was reflected in the tip. My friend and I shared a tiramisu for dessert, which wasn't groundbreaking, but it did the job.

I love the food, I have had many of the menu items. One of the close to sister house stand-by when we need a quick bite. Portions are large on most things, not the mac and cheese. Alfredo is really good, they have some great squash menu items. I recommend this place for pasta in the northwest area.

This place is BLAND BLAND BLAND. I got the veggie ziti and it was soooo bland, I was dying for some flavor. My husband got the meat lasagna and he thought it was also bland. The side bread is good though. This place need some serious garlic and spice. The ambiance is alright and the prices are low. But, I'd rather cook myself then go here again.

I haven't met too many pastas I didn't like...so I'm an easy sell. I liked all their choices, it's easy to find something you like on the menu. It is reasonable and the quality is good. My spinach salad was generous and very delicious. And they have orrichiete, my favorite pasta shape! which is tasty. Even their tiramisu was good, and that doesn't usually do much for me. It's not the most original place ever, but it beats Spaghetti Factory or something. A good place for a family dinner.

Overall it was a good experience, the restaurant if very nice and the staff was friendly. We ordered small salads and two different pasta entrees as well as a cocktail. The cocktail was fabulous the service was speedy and the pasta portion was large and flavorful, however I personally prefer my pasta sauces to be thicker, both Alfredo and Spaghetti sauces were extremely watery.

  • Yan L.

The Bolognese sauce was too salty, and the chunks of meat in the sauce were not ground up properly, coming in large clumps. When your menu says "fresh" pappardelle pasta you tend to expect something that's homemade. But in this case, the noodles hardly felt fresh. They were way too thick and had a leathery texture which failed to cling on to any of the sauce. They may call their pieces of bread ciabatta, but it felt like eating a sponge. Service was really friendly though. I can make the equivalent dish better at home using Trader Joe's frozen turkey Bolognese sauce and my hand-cranked pasta machine.

3.5 Stars Pastini Pasta is one of my go lunch spots when I'm searching for gluten free meal on 23rd. It's relatively fast, the staff is friendly, and it doesn't break the bank. They do offer a substitute gluten free rice noodle, either penne or spaghetti, and most dishes can be made gluten free. Plus, there is no up-charge for the GF noodles. They do take cross contamination serious and cook the noodles is separate pans and use different utensils. They also distinguish GF food with a Italian tooth pick flag. The penne noodles are pretty good and don't taste like cardboard. Overall, it a good filling meal.

My last two experiences with this Pastini require that I revise my review. A few weeks ago it was a to-go order that (how else can I say this?) totally sucked. Tonight we went back, armed with a $10 off two entrees coupon we received in the mail. Our server (I'm not going to share the name here, though if someone from Pastini management wants to contact me, I am willing) acknowledged and picked up the coupon. I had some questions about the wine list - our server knew less than I did (based solely on my reading of it). OK - not that big a deal. I got a decent glass of wine despite the server. Our entrees, side and salad were all very good. Ronda's Bellini was disappointingly heavy on the sweet, peachy side, but a side of (sorry to say, nearly flat) Prosecco (comped) made it tolerable. On to the dessert menu. There were items with biscotti, but Ronda was craving something simple, like biscotti and Port. No Port on the menu, but a Grappa sounded like a good possibility. The server assured us that the "cookie" was a biscotti, so she ordered it with a Grappa. The cookie that arrived ( without the Grappa, that they were out of) was most definitely a cookie and bore no resemblance to biscotti. When the bill came, the coupon discount was nowhere to be seen and I had to wrangle it. All in all, very sad. The turnover in staff here is such that (as I've mentioned before) you won't get familiar with anyone (particularly disturbing when the joint is a block from your house - and you're the Duke, for God's sake), but I could forgive that if the new, rotating staff was at all competent. That doesn't seem to be going on here. If it wasn't for past, positive experiences, I'd be knocking down to less than 3 stars. Sad for the loss.

Went out for a nice dinner with friends on Halloween and was astounded by the service and food! Instantly cracking jokes as we entered. Prompt and courteous all the way through, even with us being picky! And Nick hooked it up! Best customer service I've seen in a while. Oh and the food!! Couldn't eat it fast enough, and that's saying something coming from me as texture is very important to me! 5 stars for this location

The spaghetti carbonara was awesome, blood orange rum punch, lemon drop, and shrimp pastini were to die for. But start with the cauliflower gratinato, sooo good. And our waiter Jordan was attentive and just an all round great guy. I highly recommend trying the place out.

My boyfriend wanted gluten free chicken Alfredo, so I took him here. Glad they have GF penne and spaghetti, but the food's mediocre. The sort of place I would not bring foodie friends, but that my parents would probably appreciate. Service was friendly and they had a GF tiramisu, but no espresso. How do you not have espresso at a faux Italian restaurant??

This place has some top quality pasta for a really decent price. Our server was absolutely wonderful and down to earth. The service has so great here and all the staff was so friendly. This place is great for date night!

Really good and service. The new recipe for the pasta meat bolognese is incredible. Service was perfect too.

The waiter was so rude, he actually yelled at me because he couldn't get my order right after the 3rd time. This is a chain restaurant, not Beast, get a grip on yourself people. Your food is comparable to that of Chilli's and with wait staff as rude as that, I'd rather eat at home. Will NEVER go back.

I wish I could give this restaurant more than 3 stars. I love the location on NW 23rd and Joseph, is one of the best servers. Great personality, very iknowledgable about the food and beverages served. And, he went out of his way to make sure our visit, beverages and food were excellent. Unforutunately, the salad needed to go back for more dressing, the pastsa was ok, but nothing amazing given the incredible smells coming from their kitchen. Perhaps it was just our dish choices. I have been to a Pastini Pastaria before and will go again and hope to get Joseph as our server and more tasty dishes the first time around.

This place was a good choice while traveling to the area! I usually avoid Italian or Pasta restaurants because I prefer gluten free, and theirs was quite good. Server Dan was excellent and made our visit very enjoyable!

Wife and I went to Pastini last week. I have been there a few times before, and each experience has been enjoyable. My wife had the Gorgonzola tortellini, and I had a spicy shrimp pasta dish. While we were both quite fond of our food, the place was hot, and there were flies buzzing around us. They have some lunch items for under 7.50, but they weren't as appetizing to us, so we ordered off of the regular menu. Overall it was a good lunch and I know we will be going back as soon as it cools down a bit.

Frozen TV dinner anyone? This is a warning. Do not make the same mistake we did. There are sooo many other restaurants in this neighborhood. Service was good. The food was inedible.

Slow service. The food is always good quality, but.. every interaction with the waitstaff was at least 5 minutes beyond when I wanted it. I'll go back, but it probably won't be one of my mainstays. Updated 5/28/2014, changed from 2* to 4*. Service was fantastic. It was prompt, the food was great. It appears my "slow service" interaction was a fluke.

Went to Pastini for a work lunch today and there was a piece of metal in my entree. I showed the hostess and she said it was from the sponges they use to clean dishes. I was so repulsed. she said she'd take it off the bill. I wasn't paying so I don't know if it came off the tab, but at any rate, she was nonchalant about it.

Much like a spaghetti noodle this place just keeps on going. We started with the meatball appetizer and simultaneously said out loud that we felt like we were back in Rome. We even each stuck a meatball with our forks and then cheersed the meatballs together like two delicious beef comets colliding in the cosmos. The melted parmesan cheese hung off the meatball like the tail of the comet and after the cheers our melted cheese tails wrapped together and we had a true life Lady and the Tramp type moment as the melted cheese melted our hearts. After moving on to the Chicken Marsala and a nice Riesling pairing I finally understood the point of pairing wines with foods. It's cause they compliment each other. Who'd a thought!?!

I wasn't overly impressed with this place. The food came out quickly and our waitress was kind and accommodating. I didn't find the portion to be very much and the macaroni i ordered was almost watery. Maybe that's just their style, but for the price I would think they'd put in a little more effort. It honestly seemed like they just had a big ol' pot in the back, scooped it in the bowl and brought it out. I probably won't go here again.

So many vegetarian pasta dishes that it was hard to choose one. I finally picked one that had so many yummy veggies in it. So good! Really nice glass of wine too. Oh, the appetizer? They didn't skimp at all & it was just as good as the main course. Also, the ambiance & noise level were perfect. Nice, mellow vibe. No complaints here.

I'm a big fan of Pastini's! I used to go to the one in Corvallis a lot. The only difference at this one was that they don't bring out any bread. They usually bring out bread free of charge along with dipping along every other one I've gone to. They have a great selection of beers on tap and the food was great. I got the Italian meatballs, which were delicious! It's in a great spot as well. Definitely good place to go for a date night and to grab drinks.

First, let me say I got a personal response back from the owners about my experience. That says so much how much the owners love and care for their for business and their own passion for food and outstanding service. Thank you! Second, we dined again there for lunch 12/6 and what a great experience! It was THE experience why I LOVE Pastini! Great service, tortellini gorgonzola was rich and yum, five cheese lasagne was amazing, two perfect glasses of wine and a shared caesar salad. An indulgent shopper's lunch on 23rd done right! Thank you, Pastini! You nailed it!

We visited today with 6 guide dogs and 11 people. I have to say first and foremost that the staff was welcoming, friendly and very accommodating. I think Joseph was our server and he was great. They got mac and cheese and milk to the table for our daughter almost instantly. I ordered the Portobello pannini with a tomato basil soup. The soup is just plain delicious. I can't really put it into words that justify it. The pannini was good. My only complaint would be a little more in the sandwich. Now the peppers and onions and mushrooms were good, just expected a little more. Still though it was a good value for three of us. The food was crafted, not just prepared. It had thought and soul behind it and the presentation was very nice. Sorry no pictures, was just enjoying it too much to disrespect it with being on my phone at the time.

Wow what a great place! Love it here very nice relaxing atmosphere and the pasta was amazing I will defiantly be coming back! It was pretty busy when I came and they still were pretty fast, and they have very reasonable prices! My only complaint is the chairs weren't that comfortable but that won't stop me from coming in! LOVE IT!!!

I say I will never find Italian food as excellent as my mother's, but this place gets massive stars for being so damn nice! Seriously, these guys are sweethearts -- the waiter (a cute blonde with adorable eyes) was very kind and attentive and the woman who served me my cocktail was very thoughtful in helping me pick out a drink. Don't know what they put in the water over at Pastini's, but I sure wish more waiters and waitresses took note (or drink)!

Pastini is perfectly inoffensive. It is just a hair below Olive Garden, and I like Olive Garden. The tortellini tastes just fine, though it will be nowhere near what you'd find at a fine Italian restaurant, of course. It is very soft, and relies heavily on the creamy sauce. The garlic bread is so-so, and you might pass on them, considering some ok bread comes with the pasta. The price point is right on. It does lack in a certain comfiness that I associate with Olive Garden type restaurants. And there were a quite a lot of kids running free, making a disaster of certain parts of the restaurant and the bathroom. Service was quite friendly. But I don't think I'll be returning frequently.

I consider this place mediocre. The service is generally good, but the food never really impresses me and portions are somewhat small. It's similar to an Olive Garden, but on a smaller scale.

This place used to be pretty good, and I think it's a much different experience to eat in there. However the last times I've used Delivered Dish to order food from here, the orders are wrong, the portions are meager, and all the bread is ends and crusts only. I know if I was in the restaurant instead of ordering takeout it would be a different story. Shame on you Pastini, you should treat all your customers with the same quality and service even if they're not in your presence. Some of us have physical and mobility issues that make eating out difficult. If I was sitting in your restaurant you would not have served me sub-par food. I won't be ordering from you ever again.

I needed a place within walking distance from our hotel. There are a lot of restaurants and shops around here but I chose Pastini because it allowed me to order online. My one-year-old was extra cranky that day from being woken up early and being stuck on the plane. It took me 30 minutes to order. I had to pause many many times because little guy kept wanting to be picked up. The interface was very easy to use and it allowed you to add and omit certain ingredients. Our order was not ready when we arrived at the restaurant even though it was past the the pick-up time. I had to let the manager know it was an online order because online orders are "on a different system." The manager was very nice. She also got me my order in less than five minutes and super-bagged everything for me since I was walking. The food was delicious. We had the spaghetti carbonara with added prawns, arugula asparagus salad (the grilled asparagus was burnt and wilted...I think it would be better if it was cooked in water instead), and the special stewed chicken thigh pasta with added broccolini.

I've been to this Pastini a few times and always have excellent service. What set this trip apart from others was the INCREDIBLE service we received from Brad. He gave excellent food recommendations, provided us with friendly, fast service, and gave all-around exceptional service. The manager Kerick was at the host station when we arrived and also stopped by our table and chatted for a few minutes...what a treat! He was friendly, charming, and seemed truly interested in making sure we had an amazing experience. We will definitely be back!

This was my first time eating at Pastini Pastaria and I have to say that the food is great! The portions are a decent size and they have quite a selection of tasty mixed drinks! With that being said, the best part of my dining experience was the service! This was my boyfriend's and my first experience here, and we were rather uncertain how vegan-friendly Pastini was; as it turns out, they are very accommodating and have a selection of menu items that can be made vegan friendly! Our waiter himself was vegan and very knowledgeable about suitable entrees and appetizers! He was also very patient with us, and gave great AND genuine service-which is rare in finer dining establishments. He recommended the Classico-which is an eggplant and sauteed tomato appetizer-that was delicious. I had the Farfalle Primavera, per his recommendation, which is also very delicious. All in all, my boyfriend and I had a great doing experience with delicious good and impeccable service. We will be sure to come back to this location.

Once again, like the last three visits, they're out of several food items on the menu. If you come to this location, it may be worth it to ask the front door staff if they have the meals you want, before you bother getting seated. We will never give this location our business again. Poorly managed.

Great service. I enjoyed my favorite wine st Michelle Riesling and enjoyed the tortellini. After that I had the almond crusted ice cream Carmel pie which was delicious.

Great little place to eat, wouldn't recommend this place if you are looking for Outstanding Pasta. Its a good place to go when your just trying to get your pasta-fix and want it for a reasonable price. Great kids dishes and they have fun little lemonade drinks to add to the experience.

I ordered what I thought was going to be a delicious pasta dish, with no mushrooms. When the meal arrived, it looked like they had added mushrooms, then tried to pick them out. There were so many mushroom pieces in the folds of the pasta that I couldn't even pick them out. Sent it back and ordered something simple, nothing impressive overall. I will say, the waitress seemed genuinely apologetic that my meal wasn't right and the manager offered a free dessert. But now my family has finished eating and I'm still waiting for my meal. Not ideal. Probably won't be frequenting this location. There's no food I hate more than mushrooms. Gross!

Thanks to the great management at Pastini my comments were noted and dealt with. We had a wonderful dinner last week. Back to the pleasant and helpful staff, hot food, and general positive attitudes! Thank you so much for making this our go-to restaurant in Portland!!!

Italian Cuisine

The immense popularity of Italian cuisine globally isn't unknown. You can find an Italian Pizzeria around every corner of almost every city in the United States. Not to forget that in every house, people enjoy mac and cheese as comfort food. But it would be wrong to believe that Italian food starts with pizza and ends with good pasta as this Mediterranean country has much more to offer other than these two dishes. In Italian Cuisine, there is a high use of fresh tomatoes, all kinds of herbs, great quality of cheese, all types of meat, seafood and fresh handmade pasta. Many find it hard to believe that Italians have been making noodles long back.

Italian and Greek cuisines are always mistaken to be same, but they are poles apart. The primary difference between the two cuisines is the use of cheese in most of the Italian dishes. Italians love to cultivate their own cheese and process them as per their food requirement. It is believed that some cheese is so expensive that cheese producers secure them in lockers.

If you are bored eating the same old pasta or pizza, you can try some of the authentic Italian dishes like Risotto, Polenta, Ribollita, Lasagna, Fiorentina Steak, Bottarga, Ossobuco, Carbonara, Focaccia, Arancini and Supplì. Another item which Italians love to relish every morning is a good cup of Italian Coffee. Once you taste a freshly brewed cup of Italian Coffee, you might not visit Starbucks ever again. Authentic Italian food is made with heart and soul, so go find a restaurant where you can relish Italian cuisine in your city.
