This evening our server was Kory. He was excellent as was the beers and food we ordered. My date had the Bean and Seed sandwich which is vegetarian. She had the salad with honey mustard. The sandwich was very good, moist and flavorful. I stole a taste of the hummus and, wow, it was great. I had something new to me, the Colonel Mustard chicken breast sandwich (in the library with the candlestick, not). My sandwich was fresh and flavorful. Tots were perfectly done. My date had a pint of Slow Float IPA, it was good, on the light side and hoppy. I had a new to me beer, Citrus Wheat. Now other than their Ruby Ale, I don't go for fruit in my beer. But this one was very nice, great for a hot day, refreshing. I'd order it again. Overall we had an excellent time this evening.

I was a simple guest decompressing from a train ride here with two natives, and all I really had was their Terminator Stout. It was very inoffensive, not at all hops-laden like all the other beers in PDX love to be. But it wasn't very substantial besides that. Nice atmosphere, quiet but talkative people around didn't flood our booth.

We stopped in last Thursday during a busy lunch period. I was afraid that service would suffer, but the food was great and the family has a good time.

I usually like McMenamins, and I really enjoy their Edgefield location. However this Mall 205 spot seems to be mailing it in a bit. You can wait for 20 minutes or more for service occasionally on an average day. The food is ok at this location. I do recommend the pork tacos, but they are like $12 for 3 tiny tacos. Overall, this one just seems to be just trying to get by. Not a great representation of what McMenamins is.

Strip mall Location: Nice local neighborhood bar with friendly staff and growlers to go.

We have been to several McMenamins over the years and this one sucks big time! Service was awful, everyone was rushed, server took glass of beer without asking and it wasn't even empty! As for a stamp in our passport, was told at the bar he was busy and passed me off to another worker, Jeff our server who didn't even ask to see the ID or picture just stamped it. I am so disappointed in this place and I won't be back here! The McMenamin brothers would be so embarrassed to know these people are representing their company P.S. this app required a star so I reluctantly gave one.

Great service, they are still fairly fast when busy. go here for happy hour sometimes when I am in the area. They never disappoint!

A Mcmenamins in a strip mall. But the atmosphere is nice and brews are great! I had a Slow Float IPA... brewed in their West Linn Brewery.

Feels homey and unassuming, with the same delicious beers you can get at any McMenamins. Ive never seen so many houseplants in a bar. Staff has been friendly every time I've been. They also have a cheapo day growler fill -great since they're close to home! If you're not in the burger mood, try a bowl - the Jamaican is my favorite.

I wasn't going to post this review but I saw Cambrie had the exact same experience as me and my girl friend. We went there after an afternoon of shopping hoping to have a little dinner and drinks. We stood by the Please Wait to Be Seated sign for a good 10-15 min and were ignored. I have no time or patience for places who DGAF about me patronizing their place. But 10-15 min is more than it should have taken to even be offered a seat at the bar. The place wasn't that busy or full. It wasn't even half full.

Fantastic food and beer. The service was prompt, helpful and friendly. I highly recommend the Jamaican Bowl; all the flavors went together beautifully and you can't go wrong with a shared pitcher of Terminator Stout. The atmosphere is the same you've come to expect at their other establishments.

I love this place. The service is always great and I love the beer. I hate how yelp wants me to write a novel to review anything. Good beer Good beer Good beer Great folks and great food

Food is always great. Service seems to always be slow and a few of the servers are almost always rude.

For the most part...it's a great place and super close to my new house. The food is always good and the service is usually ok. Although last Sunday 3 of us went there during the afternoon and sat outside. In the 1.5 hrs we were there, we saw our server 3 times, Once when we were seated, once went he brought out our bill(which we had to ask for, and once during. At one point the was a period of 40 minutes were we NEVER saw him, but the other tables had their servers. But all-in-all....good place.

What's happened here? This place used to be stellar! The waiter was great. But food was cheaply done. Learn what a reuben is baby....

McMenamins is McMenamins. With very few exceptions, you're going to get the same burgers, apps, beer, and fries at every location. That's not a bad thing though - having a semi-local chain that makes quality burgers, apps, beer and fries is great. It's a great standard place to fall back on if you don't feel like exploring the Portland food scene that night, or you're driving by and need a decent meal. I like this one in particular because it's close to my house, but that's hardly a review-worthy factoid. McMenamins is good. Not stellar, or out-of-this-world, or "so Portland you have to go there with all your friends coming into town," but good.

When I arrived I asked for a drink they'd never heard of (Michelada), which is ok as I understand not everyone will know all drink concoctions. When I asked if they had any other "lunch/breakfast type drinks", the bartender snarkily responded, "Well, we have a full bar, we can make you whatever". Seriously? I ask for a recommendation and you can't think of a single "light" drink one would typically have earlier in the day? A mimosa? Screwdriver? Bloody Mary? Light beer? Session? C'mon! I then ordered a Bloody Mary, asked for salt on the rim and he promptly let out an audible sigh. I said I would like to settle up (because F this place, even though I'd planned on spending some time to eat lunch and grab a few drinks), and also handed him my passport which he refused to stamp due to the fact I hadn't signed it. Now here's where the review may get a little weird (admittedly on my end)-I wanted to sign it with a nicer pen, as this is sort of my fun commemorative thing. I didn't have mine with me, and asked if I could sign it later. He explained its required in the rules (it isn't- I checked both the book and their website, though it does suggest you sign it). I showed him my registration email matching the passport code, and the email address name matches my ID, and he indicated I could be just "handing my passport to other people to fill out". Seriously? Ok if that's an issue I understand you need to protect your business, but that would be a pretty elaborate scam for me to set up an email to match multiple ID's and my passport registration? I don't even know as that's possible. TLDR: Snarky, poor service, uneducated bartenders, and an overall poor bar experience even without the high expectations of the McMenamins name. Total disappointment.

This one isn't my favorite McMenamins but it dishes out the same great food as the other ones. Also, I love their Mall 205 snail logo. We were seated right by the door and it was so cold that it really distracted from enjoying my time here. The food took around 20 minutes to arrive but it didn't feel like very long because we were sipping on cider. Dungeon burger was really good (although the patty was not medium-rare as I had ordered and looked very pre-formed). Cajun tots were delish as always (Cajun costs $0.50 more). Gyro was really good as well. Probably one of the best places to eat when you're up here by the 205 and have no where else to go.

  • Shy A.

Typical McMenamins with half the charm of some of their other locations. There were only a couple of tables seated when we arrived and we seated ourselves. Let me just preface this by saying I love McMenamins....Edgefield and Kennedy School being my favorites to date, but I have always heard about how crappy their service is. I never had poor service, sometimes negligent but never rude or down right bad. I mention this because my first initial instinct about the Mall 205 location was that we were going to get terrible service. No one made eye contact with us, no one said hello. We sat in our booth for roughly ten minutes until our server came out. Once he came out and took our orders, the service was A-OK. Mall 205 isn't the best location or the location that will give you a real feel of MM but it isn't a bad place to grab a beer and tots!

Quite possibly the worst Mcmenamins in the city. Luke warm clam chowder and soggy "Alehouse" fish and chips. Due to the ecoli tainted water in Portland today, they has no options for us not there for libations.

  • Jeff R.

It was ok. Service was good. Place was a little dirty and needed straightened up. Food was ok. I had a bleu cheese burger that was dry and the blue cheese part of it was undetectable.

Decided to go here with my bf for dinner one night since we have been to other mcmenamins and figured it would be just as good. Walked in and stood by the "please wait to be seated" sign. Three workers obviously saw us -- all three made eye contact -- but not a single "hello" or "someone will be right with you." We were completely ignored. Waited three minutes and nothing, so we left. I get that they weren't hosts/hostesses, so not their job to greet and seat, but I don't want to spend my money at a place where I am ignored.

Oh my! Been coming here a lot lately for late night burgers. Always delish with a Rubinator. Always have great service and delicious food. Just discovered the wonderful Jamacian bowl. Love it! Was a bit saucy tonight, but I will let it slide. But the real reason I am posting is because of the phenomenal service we recieved tonight from Jim. He was smart, polite, funny and really on top of his game tonight! Working the whole room, seeming to be waiting on the entire pub solo. And doing it effortlessly. A real pro. Obviously been in the biz for years. Keep him and make him a manager please! We will be back soon and more often when we learn when Jim is there. Thanks!

Server was completely clueless and a little surly. I asked if the beef was free range. He clearly did not know. His response was that "it is natural." I am certainly glad that it was not artificial. :) They also forgot my beer when I asked for a second round. I reminded him about 10 minutes later and they comped me, which was nice. Hard to argue with the quality of the beer (when it came).

a nice ale, nice folks. didnot eat, but i go to a mcmenamins from time to time. this one has some good rotating taps. was here with a work mate and keeping to myself. A fella sat down nxt to me at the bar and ordered a milkshake while looking at the menu. server: uh, we don't have milkshakes, customer: well, do you have anything like that? server: no, not really, I think he got a milk or a water or something, but the server was very kind and he didget a grill cheese. oye. he also, interjected a conversation I was in---sorta, and I thought "weirdo", order a dang beer. we're not at Farrell's

my friends and I stopped here for a drink after a long difficult hike and the Edgefield was too packed to consider. I had never been here. It was only for one drink but I did like the venue. it was pleasant. Liked it better than the Power Station actually. It was a bit chilly in there though, but other than that had no complaints!

Skated in at 5:52 after commuting home in terrible traffic, paying the sitter, corralling 3 hungry kids (not an easy task), only to be ignored for several min at the wait to be seated sign and even longer at our table. I tried to flag down a server as the kids decided on their dinners to make sure I could still order of the hh menu, but they were pretty busy. When our server finally did arrive it was clear he was hurried and cranky. He practically cut me off to say hh was closed. When I explained I'd been waiting, he shot back that I was on my phone (???). When he started looking around to "ask his manager" (which I didn't ask for) it was enough for me to gather the kids up and leave. He was snarky, snotty, and had an OBVOIUS chip on his shoulder. No way would I let someone like that serve us. He was the type to spit on the food. Complete ass. As we were leaving it dawned on me that this same sever has been snarky before! Boo for Mall 205 for keeping a jerk like that, they should be ashamed of themselves. Letting him represent the honest work, integrity McMenamin's has built throughout our community is a travesty. As a 40-something 15-year homeowner in the area with 2 kids I was so happy there was a McM's in right our hood. Too bad for them that I will no longer be giving them my $$$ 1-2 times a month until they wise up and get rid of the dead service weight. Despite the good food and great beer, absolutely no amount of terrible service is worth it.

Did not expect this McMenamin's location to be anything more than one of their smaller strip mall clones but we were pleasantly surprised. This place is run by attentive and conscientious people who understand what excellent service means. Yes, the food and beverage menu is the same as many other locations but the service is absolutely wonderful. This was our last stop on a Sunday afternoon passport stamp run and was a fantastic end to our day. We sat at the bar and ordered dessert, the berry bar, which was delicious. We sampled the spiced rum and Hogshead whiskey. The rum was smooth and refined while the Hogshead had an unpleasant flavor with considerable burn in the finish. We struck up conversation with our neighboring bar patron who bought us a shot of the Bill's whiskey, much better than the Hogshead. Our bartender, older gent with gray hair, was on top of everything and extremely attentive. Awesome service!

It's always nice to hear from a business, give them a second chance, and find they really have made great strides. After receiving a nice message from Troy Dockins, the Male Unit and I went out and had a very lovely evening there. The drinks were better, the food was better, and no more long waits between drinks. It went so well, we've been back three times since. We've got our neighborhood bar back! Thank you a thousand times.

After a day of buying a car, my son and I just wanted to go someplace nice and eat dinner. We were so tired and hungry. We went to McMenamins at Mall 205. The waiter seemed to be in a big hurry and kept leaving. When we did get our food, it was not good. I had a Wilbur burger with fries. All of the fries were little, crunchy and burnt. The burger was very dry. I had the toppings put on the side so I could put the burger together myself and there was zero sauce. it had very little taste to it. It just was not good at all. Generally I do like Mcmenamins.

I love the McMenns restaurants and miss them since i've moved away from OR where I went to school. GO BEAVS! BUT... when I was back in town and stopped by this location I was very disappointed. After arriving and waiting for way too long, we sent one of our group to the bar to get some beers going since our server was nowhere to been seen. After arriving at the bar he was turned back to the table as the bartender told him that HE was our server. Waiting another few minutes before he came over we finally got got drinks ordered but they STILL took another 10 minutes to come out. Not a good start. The food, per usual was excellent but there were several mistakes with orders in our 7 person group. I had their famous chicken tenders and cajun tots with bbq sauce. IT comes with slaw but they enforced a "No Substitutions, No Exceptions" rule. Harsh for a place that serves tots as the main side dish. If you head to McMenns, go for the food and hope the service also meets the mark. Disappointed in this visit.

Great service today. I was in a hurry to get back to work. Food great-!!! I wish parking was a little better, not much they can do about that, at least it is easy access to 205 for a quick trip back to work. Still one of my favorite eats for the price !

  • Julia And Danny S.

Food was just as ordered, the burgers were tasty, huge selection of beer to chose from if you're wanting that. friendly service on a very busy day.

  • Jeff H.

Your typical McMenamins, but smaller and more limited. I stopped here because it was on my way home from work. I came back because of the great level of service. When I walk in, any one of three bartenders will already be drawing up my beer of choice. I admit it; I like that. Their food menu is somewhat limited for happy hour, but it's about what you'd expect. A cheap burger, cheap hotdog, some other options like that. The hotdog is pretty damn good, though, and quite large. Cajun tots are always a plus. No historical stuff here, no grand, sweeping views. It would just be another bar and grill, but the quality of the beer is somewhat higher, and there you go.

It's Saturday night, we got here at five, the restaurant is maybe half full. After sitting in a booth for twenty minutes, we finally flagged someone down, (who was straightening menus) to ask for service. Seriously the worst Mc-service ever. 5:58 got the tots "for the table" to share. No napkins, no ketchup, for all 12 HH tots. Getting irritated. I'm here with my daughter and 3 of her friends. 6:02 ok got half of ordered food. My gardenburger came with nothing. Not the cheese I ordered or any lettuce, tomato, etc... So done. Now everyone is done eating and I still don't have my food...whaaaa 6:09 got gardenburger brought back... You guessed it - no cheese. I had him just take it back and asked for the check. The absolute worst service, and no one giving a sh*t experience ever. I will NOT be back. Gonna go find dinner now. Mcmenamins generally has reached new levels of suckdom with my last few visits. Screw my husband's passport. I'm done giving this CHAIN anymore $$$$.

Come to 205 frequently because it is close to work. Consistently friendly service even when very busy. Decor not as sassy as some of the mcmenamins. Food is quite good most of the time. Beer is great. Highly recommend.

Is this the cutesiest of the McManamins properties? No. The most historic? No. Culturally significant? No. But I tell you what -- if you're looking for a chill place to get an honest meal with friends or family, this restaurant will do just fine. It sure one-ups a Shari's.

Bad service on multiple occasions. Had a wonderful Manhattan with dark cherries in Jan. Recently ordered one this past weekend, the server who was obviously not trained as a bartender slapped the drink down I'm front of me and it contained mo cherries. I asked him where the cherries were and he said "our recipe doesn't call for them. But I can put some in." Really? Anyone who drinks Manhattan's knows they have cherries. We waited 30 min. For menus, then another 30 min before the server finally came by to take our order. Definitely not going back.

Typical McMenamins location, with typical faire. The only highlight would be the Purple Haze brew. A fantastic ale reminiscent of a hefeweizen but with the finish of a shandy. I believe it is brewed with boysen berries for its tart sweet finish. If your enrolled in the passport program, a stamp and a beer is all you need.

I know McMenamins isn't known for having great service. I have had OK service at McMenamins, and good service, and bad service, and never amazeballs service, usually, usually its just OK. But this time I was treated with so much contempt its unbelievable. I wanted to place an order to go, and I called, and was placed on hold 3 times during my brief call. They told me it would take 20 minutes, so I arrive exactly at 20 minutes. I walk in, and its pretty dead, there are a few tables and one or two people at the bar. I went to the bar, where three employees were standing, but they all scattered without saying anything to me or even noticing me. I sat down, and was ignored for a few minutes. I noticed my food sitting on the prep table in the kitchen. A another minute or so went by before I was able to flag down the bartender. He was engrossed in deep conversation with a customer at the bar. I said, I have an order to go, For John. I had my debit card in my hand, but it didn't matter. He printed out the ticket, put it in the folder, and left again, back to his conversation. I put the card in the folder and set it on the bar, and waited for the bartender to come back. After another minute or so, my patience wore thin. I spoke up and said loudly, "Is that my food just sitting there?" He said, "let me check", and indeed it was. He set the food down, and ran my card, and put the ticket back in the folder. As I was filling it out, I asked for a bag, and he grabbed one and kinda tossed it at me. Then I wrote zero in the tip field, closed the folder, and he gave me a nasty look. I opened the bag, put my own food in it, and left the establishment. As a to go customer, I am still a customer, and I pay the same for it, so why the contempt? Why do you go out of your way at times to show your customers how little you give a crap for them? By the time I got home, the tots were cold and the lettuce was limp. I live exactly 5 minutes from this McMenamins. I don't know why when McMenamins pays so much attention to consistency of food and beverage, and even the look and feel of its establishments, but does nothing about its reputation for customer service. I have been a customer for a long time, Going to concerts at Edgefield and Crystal. My parents used to take me to the Oak Hills brewpub when I was a kid. I have stayed at several hotels, The St Francis School, Kennedy School, Hotel Oregon. We did my sister-in-laws birthday party at the Broadway location. And in fact the hogshead whiskey is one of my very favorites, I just wish you didn't charge so much for it. (Its a rare treat indeed) Perhaps that's why the service never changes, you know I'll be back. But with experiences like this, I come back a little less often, and with a little less enthusiasm. Its a shame, because I like the atmosphere, and I like the beer, and the food is pretty good too. But what should have been a pleasant , 2-3 minute transaction, took the better part of 10 minutes, and left a bad taste in my mouth worse that anything on the menu.

I've only ever filled a growler up here, which I do frequently at this particular McMenamins, and I gotta say three things: 1. They always have a great selection of McMenamins beers on tap. I've drank pint after pint of almost all of McMenamins brews, including their seasonals, but the 205 location always has something on tap I've never tried, which keeps coming here over and over interesting. 2. I gotta hand it to whomever the McMenamins hired as an interior decorator for their numerous establishments. Only the McMenamin brothers, who I greatly admire, could turn a slice of strip mall into an authentic looking pub. They really know how to make a pub. Stepping into McMenamins Mall 205 is a far cry from stepping into Edgefield, Kennedy School, the Chapel Pub, the Annex, Rams Head, etc- but it is still truly "McMenamins" so you're guaranteed a cozy, pubby interior. 3. East of interstate 205 this is one of the few places you can get your hands on a variety of fresh locally made microbrew. That is until you've gone far enough east that you've hit Edgefield on the edge of the greater Portland area. True, McMenamins Mall 205, being on the fringe of Portland's up and coming Montavilla neighborhood, has some fierce competition (The Observatory, Roscoe's, the Country Cat) but honestly Portland's great beer drinking establishments end after interstate 205. You could drive around "East Portland" (what I've dubbed it) for hours and wont find a single bar worth a sh*t. McMenamins is your only hope east of the 205 if what you're looking for is a clean, cozy pub with great locally made beer.

This McMenamins is certainly in an odd spot for being a McMenamins however the decor is pleasant and you can easily forget that you are at mall 205 just by the freeway. We had Cajun tater tots to start, which were deep fried perfectly, or how I like them anyway, well done and super crunchy! I had the Communication Breakdown as I have at other locations and it was just as good this time around. Oddly enough the last and only other time I was here I ended up in the hospital with appendicitis shortly after so for the last two years that has been my connection with this place, obviously by no means their fault.. Now it's our family joke.. In happy to report that I left full and in good health! Lol all in all I'd recommend this spot for a casual meeting or a get together with family and friends. We did a lot of laughing at the table as it was a comfortable noise level and the booths were private enough that we weren't bothering anyone else. Enjoy!

mcmenamins let me just say ive always liked your cool style around portland... but mall 205, you dont have it (which would be fine IF your staff wasnt horrendous).. for the first time EVER in my entire life, i did not tip. as a rule, i always tip, i get that people have bad days and arent always chipper thats fine i get it we are all human. but i had the WORST WAITRESS EVER. didnt ask us what soda we wanted and brought a pepsi with ice, which we wanted diet with no ice, but she never asked so when we asked for what we wanted she made a pouty face and walked back and got our correct drink. and refills? psh. forget about it. RUDE.

First off, this is NOT a specialty McMenamins. To all of the people who are hating on it simply because it is not the Kennedy School (a movie theatre and converted school), Bagdad or Edgefield (The most amazing one). This is a RESTAURANT not an entertainment pub. It's where you can go to get high quality McMenamins beer and food without the hour long wait of Edgefield or the loud noise of Kennedy School. The staff can be slow, depending on the time of day you go, but overall they are very attentive and friendly. The beer is always amazing and the food is (so long as Rusty is working!) Like every restaurant, they have their bad waiters/cooks. They are always more than willing to fix something you are unsatisfied with. Last week, the server put down my fries, took one look at them and said "this is unacceptable", took them back to the kitchen and had fresh.crisp ones made for me. I recommend the smoked mozzarella, grilled onions and pesto sandwich, hot diggity is it tasty! Also try their cajun tots with a side of their home made ranch (which varies per day, depending on who makes it). And if you're really nice, they will add fresh parmesan cheese to your garlic bread..which makes it into a foodgasm ;) Also, they sell beer-to-go! Grab a Ruby to take with you! This is a great lunch location when you're looking for delicious food but don't have time to make an event out of it. Dinner times can get packed but the service seems faster then. Also, there is NO self-serve, as some angry reviewer claimed they had to serve themselves.

This is my closest McM's and I've been many times. Food is what you'd expect at a McM's-- good, dependable, nothing fancy. My usual is a basket of cajun tots (which I go for at any McM's location) and a soup of the day. The clam chowder is less "chowder" and more just a basic soup. It's very tasty though. The curry lentil soup is legit tasty. Burgers are pretty good, as are the rest of the sandwiches. Give the Portland Dip a shot (french dip w turkey and mushrooms.) Interestingly, the menu at Mall 205 is a bit larger than most other McM's I've been to.

Who doesn't love McMenamins? It's everyone favorite dirt little secret. McMenamins (,ny McMenamins) always delivers great food and drinks. Usually great service too... Not so much here though. I wish they would have offered me a bib to protect my clothing before the waitress fed me her huge pile of bull crap! I understand people make mistakes and I can accept that, but don't lie to me. Just tell me you made a mistake and that is what the hold up is. We're human after all. We ordered our appetizer and meals at the same time. It took quite a while for the appetizer to come. Now we wait, and wait, I grew a beard, and we waited some more. Then people in the booth behind us, who ordered AFTER us, got their appetizer. Soon they had their dinner too. A hungry Jimbo is an angry Jimbo. The waitress then stops by and asks if we need anything. I replied "My food." She gives me a line of crap about how we're next and walks away. She checks with the kitchen and comes back to offer me another serving of bulls turds, by telling me that we put in our order AFTER the large party of 8 put in theirs, but now the kitchen is free and we should have our food soon. LIES!!!!! All lies. Was our food next out of the kitchen? HELL NO! It was the OTHER tables food. The other table that sat across from us, that sat down and order after the table behind us ordered. Now the waitress comes back by and apologizes for the wait and asked if we want refills on our root beers. Free of course... because she "can do that". We decline. I didn't want her free refill of lies. Our food comes. Its good. Standard McMenamins' food. Not much else to say about it. We ask for a check and a manager. I explain to him about our waitress' poor service, and her feeding us a line of crap about why our food took so long. He joked about a line of crap not being on the menu, but his humor fell on an angry Jimbo's deaf ears. He took off our drinks and appetizer like any good manger. We paid and left. Still a little angry, but much better than if I wouldn't have talked to him. McMenamins is good. 4 stars good. I wouldn't let one bad experience with a waitress steel a star away from them.

We came in when they were under staffed and very busy. We were difficult and took a long time to decide but our server was attentive even though he was busy. Just as we were starting to notice that our food was taking a while, he brought us a round on the house, without any prompting from me. This is one of our favorite places to eat and we will be back! PS: Tots are underrated!

Oh Mcmenamins, you rascal you. Your food is sub par, yet your beers delight and your salads do too. This location is sort of like a light house in a sea of nasty ass chains. We end up here once in awhile and have never been disappointed per say. Our last visit was on a packed Friday night around 8pm. We were seated and served with speed and our waiter was one of the best I've ever had. Service is usually a problem at any Mcmen's, you tend to have tired older hippies happening by with plates that may or may not be what you ordered, between bong rips out back they may or may not refill your water. I tip my hat to the cool dude who served us that night, he was friendly and didn't mess up my dressing/drink requests.

Every time I hit a McMenamin's for the first time, I could spend an hour just looking at the artwork on the walls. I definitely love the look of these pubs. The servers are never quite as friendly as I would like, but I overlook that for the great beer and good food. I was disappointed that they didn't have ginger ale, as I've had it at some of the other pubs. But my waiter 'made' me one. It wasn't quite what I was expecting but I thought it was nice that he made the effort. I also had the chipotle pico de gallo and tri-color chips. Both were fresh tasting and really hit the spot. I thought the price of $3.70 was very reasonable. I don't get to this neck of the woods often, but will definitely come back here again.

I don't know what the other guy was smoking, but this place is a dive compared to any other McMenamins I've been too. The service was pretty much self serve and self seat. The booths were uncomfortable, and cramp. Don't get me wrong, I wasn't expecting much, but when you pay over 9 for a couple of greasey sides of fish, and soggy fries I'd have to say it's the worst Mcmenamins I've encountered. If it was just a bar, than fine, I understand, but I traveled from Estacada to enjoy a few drinks and meal with some friends, if I choose a McMenamins to eat at, it's because I'm expecting a little more than just a beer, or a bar food. The server was ok, he was a little put out that we switched tables a few times to accommodate our guests when they arrived. I probably wont visit this particular establishment, but I'll still frequent the McMenamins I enjoy throughout the Portland metro area.

I like McMenamins for it's quirks and decent pub food. This particular spot has none of the quirks of the others I have frequented (Edgefield, Kennedy school, Bagdad, and Barley Mill) and so I was left with just decent, maybe even mediocre pub food. The fact that it is in a strip mall-ish shopping center kept me from coming for awhile, as did the very boring sign, and once I visited, my fears of its uninterestingness were confirmed. I don't think we will return, that is unless we need a Happy hour or late night drink close to home and don't want to be very creative in finding a cooler place to go.

It's alright. I studied here too. I really didn't care for the theme inside. The staff there were awesome, but it's just not as cool as the other one's. The wifi at every location is pimpin though!

Though I'm not always a fan of McMen's, I have to say that this one is pretty consistent on the food quality. The service isn't too shabby either. Maybe they don't get busy enough to suck or maybe they actually have employees that give a crap... either way, thanks for frying my tots right.

The SERVICE IS SLOW, if you want drinks or faster service, sit at the bar. Otherwise the beers are okay, the food is average, but the service is slower than a slug.

I've been to 5 McMenamins now (or so I have been told, I remember 4) - this was my least favorite as it's just a sports bar sort of feel. Service was slow, waitress put all the forks and knives for a party of 7 on the table in front of me (not on a napkin / paper / etc - straight on table) so as the food came out I was the designated cutlery distribution point. Not a huge deal except the table was not notably clean and had a few beer marks from earlier. Service waitstaff was slow, service bar was decent. Nothing wrong with this place, but it's not what I would present as a McMenamins... then again, I don't know how big the chain is and all I've seen are schools and hospitals that Mc's took over and turned into really extremely cool compounds.

I don't drink beer so commenting on that, I will not be. We were there to visit with a friend we hadn't seen in about 7 years. My daughter had a few beers I was driving so I had water and we shared appetizers. I like the hot artichoke/spinach dip. Hummus was ehhh nothing worth being negative or complimentary about. Over all. Small little average McMenamins Pub in a strip mall. Sorry not an impressive descriptive review. Nothing much to speak of.

So for the first time in a long time I was on this side of town. The only redeeming thing going on here is the free wifi. My friend ordered a sandwich and they forgot the cheese. I ordered a burger and asked for no tomatoes....you guessed it. On top of that the burger was kind of cold.

Despite the unfortunate strip mall location, and the grubby exterior, this is still a great spot for a meal and/or a few beers. Happy hour is hard to beat (good options include $3 hummus and $5 burgers), and as always, the McMenamins line-up of beers are always solid. While we've had sub-standard service once or twice, most often the servers are attentive and thoughtful.

Went today and had an average overpriced burger. Service was OK. But the best part about the whole experience was the black wilted lettuce I got on my burger. What a treat! Spoiled produce! I though damn this cant get any better. Then it did! Yahoo! A hair in my fries! Man this was the best! I cant wait to go back and see what other surprises they can give me in my food. It was like Xmas came early for me!

The beer never disappoints me and most importantly never tastes like dirty keg lines like some other chain-like beer-first establishments. That can ruin an entire meal for me. I have now been to this funny little McMenamins three times. Hey, it's close to my bank, AT&T and why the hell not. Also I still don't trust strip mall sushi. Sorry guys. The last two times i've gone, we've had this great waitress. She's older, a little strange, lots of makeup and I find her extremely intriguing. She spilled some waters on us the first time, second-hand embarrassment up the wazoo, but being a table full of servers we all helped and started a very quirky dialogue. You can tell that she really cared, which is pretty cool. The food is so-so, my boyfriend always gets the same thing: turkey sandwich, no cranberry relish, no aioli, sub mayo, side of soup - because well, he's kind of a good ol' plain turkey sandwich kind of guy. It never looks like anything special but damn, the guy loves it, every time. I've had the ruben and the tuna melt. The ruben has the right amount of tang and didn't get soggy, the tuna melt was a little more moist than I would've liked. It is, overall, just an okay place to eat. I wish they had more interesting appetizers. I remember their hummus plate seeming a little on the ordinary side. I was miffed that my favorite server wasn't there the last time we went. I was checking my watch thinking "She should BE here by now..." because we always go on the same day of the month, but, sigh, she never showed. The server I had instead was a little more short and it took a second for her to remember my drink, but hey, i've been there and all it takes is a little polite glance to get back on the radar. Not my be-all, end-all, but the beer is definitely my reward after being a grown-up and paying my bills. Everyone should have a dinky little place like this.

Once upon a time in a pre-college year era friends and I would gather at this McMenamins spot. It is close by our neighborhood and the food was service was consistent at one point. It was also my first drunk experience with one pitcher of Ruby after another during my college graduation party. Times have changed; certainly not for the better. I had relatives visiting and I told them all about the happy hour and the delicious brews they offered. So we decided to go there for dinner a while back and honestly it was not a great one at all. We did get seated right away and mind ya it was also on a Monday. Turned out at that time they only had happy hour at night so already I was given dirty looks by my family. We did have a server who I thought at one point was pretty good. I was certainly mistaken. She took forever with the drinks and food took even longer to come out. Turns out we had different server helping us out without us being acknowledged. The food was pretty good despite the long delays and service did slowly pick up. I felt embarrassed since I once praised this location a long time ago. This location does not have any true significance either, just the name by itself. Stick with the true authentic locations, you are certainly better off.

Oh my, where do we begin?! Worst restaurant experience we have ever had and we eat out a lot so that is saying something. First of all, we came here with my sister and brother-in-law to have a great time for happy hour. We had to wait at the door for about 15 min for a seat when there were clearly tons of open tables and booths! It was like we were inconveniencing them by being there and we were told to wait and then clearly ignored by them for awhile. I wanted to leave at this point just because of how they were treating us already, but we all wanted to give them a chance, which was a mistake. But wait, it gets worse. We sit down and order two pitchers of beer after the waitress gives us attitude about where we would prefer to sit (we wanted to see the tv for a football game and they only had one), but the thing is is that there were booths available so it should not have been an issue. It took FOREVER to get our food and we were basically ignored, so when she finally came around to wait on us we had a list of items we still needed from her so asked. Then as she was walking away I quickly requested more pitchers of beer (bc who knows the next time she was going to be by and we didn't want to lose out on happy hour) and get this, she replied "are you serious?". Word for word! And I paused awkwardly while looking at her, clearly appalled that she just said that and replied "yes..... thank you." And she replied, "we are just really busy right now". First of all, I want to state that we are not the needy customer, we regularly eat out and are good about being low maintenance customers, but I have never been treated like that as a customer ever! Who gets mad at you for wanting more beer? From then on, it was just ridiculous and very awkward. I guess they were busy or short staffed, but the customer should never have to feel bad about that! Anyway, my husband and I still talk about the service we received from this place. We DID get to go to the other McMenamins Kennedy School which was a much more pleasant experience.

Like most things in the Mall 205 shopping area, this Mcmenamin's feels corporate and sad. There's really nothing that stands out about this location. No ambience or cool building to suck you in and overlook the mediocre food and lackluster service. Don't bother visiting this one - go a little further out to Edgefield to get the real Mcmen's experience.

So very disappointed. This was our first time trying Mcmenamins & we were pretty stoked about it. We went for lunch on Mothers Day. First thing we notice is the *Seat Yourself* sign, okay no problem BUT the first thing that happens as we slide into our booth is I get a huge splinter in my pointer finger. I pull the biggest part of the splinter out (the rest was stuck) & it hurt so bad that I asked our server if they had a band aid as soon as she came over & I explained what happened. I expected a manager to come over & ask if I was okay but nope that didn't happen. So hubby & I both try a different beer, & the beer was fantastic, which is about the only thing they have going for them. They have a typical lunch menu that consists of greasy sandwiches & fried side items. So we all order something, hubby & I also get a salad before our meal. The salad was fresh & tasty but tiny. All 3 meals came with fries or tater tots, they were so extremely OVER deep fried that it was difficult to tell that they ever existed as a potato in the first place. It was terrible, I mean bit into it & get a squirt of grease & no potato. The gyros were okay, not the best but not the worst. My son had a tuna melt, that was terrible. Whatever was supposed to be in the middle definitely did not have the smell or texture of tuna. The tuna melt was OVER grilled in butter that it was hard to decide if there was even any bread to it. Definitely disgusting. Hey we knew that we would be ordering from a typical lunch menu that consisted of a lot of fried items & that was okay, what I am describing here is so terribly over fried that I DO NOT recommend this place at all. If this is the typical representation of all Mcmenamins then I am scared to try another. Oh & by the way my finger is still killing me & that splinter wont come out no matter what all I have tried at home, I am a little peeved that a manager never even asked if I was okay.

I ate here in June of 2010, and now live locally to it. This is an American style pub. They specialize in Hamburgers and sandwiches and have a selection of in house only micro-brew beers. The service is slihgtly above average and the people who work there generally seem to be happy, but the help may be stretched a bit thin, but the servers do their best to make sure everyone has what they need. The food is in generous portions and everything I have had is tasty. If you like beers you might try the Terminator Nitro, as it is everything a beer should be in flavor, carbonation and smoothness. Also if you are not into beer but usually prefer wine, there is a beer you may like called Ruby, which has a kind of fruity taste to it being mor elike a wine cooler than a beer. The prices are about what you would expect at a pub that focuses on the quality of their fair.

Enjoy!

They have a junior menu here but they never have a wait. If you are craving Cajun tots it is definitely worth it to pop in this strip mall.

This is such a great McMenamins!! My husband and I live within walking distance and have found ourselves constantly craving this restauraunt. The happy hour is the way to go, amazing burgers and delicious cajun tater tots!! Not to mention the beer :) We always have attentive service and they seem to always have a smile! Great job!

The prices are about what you would expect at a pub that focuses on the quality of their fair.

mcmenamins let me just say ive always liked your cool style around portland... but mall 205, you dont have it (which would be fine IF your staff wasnt horrendous).. for the first time EVER in my entire life, i did not tip. as a rule, i always tip, i get that people have bad days and arent always chipper thats fine i get it we are all human. but i had the WORST WAITRESS EVER. didnt ask us what soda we wanted and brought a pepsi with ice, which we wanted diet with no ice, but she never asked so when we asked for what we wanted she made a pouty face and walked back and got our correct drink. and refills? psh. forget about it. RUDE.

Total disappointment.

my friends and I stopped here for a drink after a long difficult hike and the Edgefield was too packed to consider. I had never been here. It was only for one drink but I did like the venue. it was pleasant. Liked it better than the Power Station actually. It was a bit chilly in there though, but other than that had no complaints!

Great service today. I was in a hurry to get back to work. Food great-!!! I wish parking was a little better, not much they can do about that, at least it is easy access to 205 for a quick trip back to work. Still one of my favorite eats for the price !

Thanks!

Food was just as ordered, the burgers were tasty, huge selection of beer to chose from if you're wanting that. friendly service on a very busy day.
