love! the music isn't too loud. the service is friendly and local. the food is... well, let's just say who cares if you could make it at home! they make it the way you would anyway! and they use top notch yummy ingredients and have their own divy twist to bar food. it's way better than "we just have to carry food since we have a liquor license" if you live close consider a pretty awesome neighborhood bar for being so far northeast!

Great place - our first time and based our visit on the Yelp reviews thank for posting. Very welcoming staff! Enjoyed our lunch and great place to just hang! Thanks Dusty and Crystal for making us feel welcome. We will be back. The three musketeers!!

Mad Hanna is a great neighborhood bar! All of their house cocktails are worth the wait, usually I lean towards beer or a straight drink like a whiskey on the rocks but NEVER at Mad Hanna! I LOVE their fresh squeezed margaritas and their signature cocktails here, specifically the one called "lime in the coconut" is delicious. I do not typically like coconut, but they really hit the nail on the head with this one- its is a perfect balance and SUCH a great summer quencher. a special note: check out the jukebox here- it has such a great mix, everything from punk to classic country to ROBYN! don't be afraid to throw in a few quarters and dance, also don't be shocked if strangers join in too! its a real friendly place :)

Stopped in here on a whim. No real reason. Was very pleasantly surprised. This is most definitely a neighborhood dive bar. Back in the day, you would call this a Working Mans Bar. It caters to the neighborhood, and bless them for that The interior is clean and very well maintained. The bar has a large selection o booze, and the beer appears plentiful. My draft beer during happy hour was very well priced. It was also busy for a Sunday afternoon, but in a good way. Regulars abounded, which is a good sign, because that means people want to come back. I was greeted instantly and warmly, and served promptly by a very competent young man. I notice they had food, but it looked like typical bar nibbles and nothing very substantial. I also imagine the lone barman would be tasked to do it, though I could be wrong. All in all, if I lived in this neighborhood, I would probably consider making this one of my local hang outs.

Leaving the airport this was the first place I visited in Portland ever! I asked for whatever and I received a play on a whiskey sour. Everything was freshly made including the fruit freshly squeezed to make the homemade concoction. I had it first with their rail then with Bulliet rye. The mix tasted better with the rail whiskey. Oh an they put fresh ginger in the drink which tasted great. They have video gambling and keno. I played pool. The jukebox was cd retro with a decent variety. I ate a buffalo chicken wrap which was panini pressed. I enjoyed it. My friend has chicken ranch. The mix of people were interesting and friendly. One guy explained that he was from LA living in his friends garage sleeping on the floor. I enjoyed myself and this wee hole in the wall. It was very inviting I thought.

Two words: Pudding. Shots. Also, a really cool and cost-effective dive bar with artisan grilled cheese.

What you want in a "Dive" bar--although this place isn't really divy--is a location where douche-bags can't find, nestled in walking distance in your neighborhood, and cheap. Although I can't attest to how cheap Mad Hanna was ( I don't remember checking out) its a picturesque portrait of the PDX dive, complete with flowing PBR/Ranier, Gangs of New York mustaches galore, and a pool table.

This is a great dive bar. It hits all the right marks of a top notch drinking hole. Go for it.

I came through Portland on a West Coast road trip. I stayed at an Air BnB spot about a 10 walk away from this place. Being from Los Angeles this place really filled that empty hole. Amazing on the spot service from the Bartendar Mathew(No need to be a neighborhood regular), good beer, fresh fruit cocktails and a juke box with some Elvis Costello, Sam Cooke, Billy Holiday, The Replacements. The crowd was diverse in age and style. Being the only non-white pair in the bar, we felt very welcomed and served. This place will definitely be a future stop for me.

This cozy neighborhood spot is a terrific addition to the neighborhood. It's the perfect place to settle in over a few drinks, have a snack and unwind. The bartenders are attentive, the drinks are delicious and the beers cheap. Try the tots, shoot a game of pool, play the jukebox or enjoy the outdoor patio on a nice evening. Three cheers for Mad Hanna!!

This place is pathetic. It would be an ideal location for a bar rescue episode. The female owner runs around grooming all the female customers. The food is terrible and I don't recommend it. The place is filled with regulars smoking right in front of the entrance. The regular customers are all unfriendly hipsters, and run people who just come in for a drink out of the place, and make them realize that there's plenty of other places close by.

The place is straight awesome. Lady-like women, decent food, pool, jukebox, TV, cute bartender (on Wednesday). Sky is the limit... No attitudes or drama though

One of the best places ever. Great drinks, better people, and solid (fast) food. I want to be buried in the back patio under the Ping pong table

Mad Hanna's is an awesome little neighborhood bar. If you live in the area I'd highly recommend this place. Bartenders are awesome, good drink specials, and most of the customers live and or work in the area giving it a very comfortable at home feel. I have been there quite a bit since the new owners transformed it into Mad Hanna's earlier this year and have never had a bad experience.

First off, full disclosure: I know the owners of this bar. I watched them go through the roller coaster ride of purchasing the business (formerly the Rovon Inn) and I was one of many friends who helped refurbish the space into what it is today. And what it is is a neighborhood bar. There are not 40 taps of 10% ABV craft beers. There are no duck confit and watercress finger sandwiches. What there is: * A range of tasty beers on tap, from craft to Coors Light * A full bar and highly skilled bartenders behind it, in case you'd like something with a bit more punch to it * Pool table * Smoking patio * TVs for the viewing of sporting contests * Solid happy hour This is a workaday neighborhood bar. A little divey. A lot of comfort. An easy place to hang out with friends and watch the game. A great place to swing by for a quick pint by one's self and meet the neighborhood locals. But what really makes this place special are the owners (and their staff) and their approach to business. They are talented, committed people to whom I would and will happily give my money.

Our favorite neighborhood bar! Great drinks! Great back area! And best of all...wonderful, nice bartenders! We were there again yesterday and we were much calmer than the first time we went! The owner had a great laugh reliving our drunk shenanigans! Such a sweet person and we will be regular visitors because of it!
