The best compliment I can give is that this is where I take out of town coworkers for lunch. Menu is short but excellent. A tip: an order of fries feeds 1.5 people, trust me. Add bacon!!!

Meh is right. Mid-range fast food burger. Better than McDonald's and BK, but trails Burgerville, Jack in the Box, and Wendy's. Warning: The burger is INCREDIBLY greasy. It makes the bag go clear. Fries are good, even though the truffle oil makes them smell "off"; and they give you a lot of them for the price. Go there for fries for a snack; skip the overpriced burger.

This is an awesome burger joint. It has a simple no nonsense menu. For those that don't like the size it their burgers you can order 2 at their price. The must have item at all LBB is the truffle fries...huge portion on these. I come for the fries, my 10 year old comes for the fries and the burger, which while it may appear small in diameter, it is a thick patty, not one of the nasty smooshed ones that may look big, when in fact it is just thin. Great service, and if you have to wait it is because they make every order fresh!

The wife and I were tired of hearing all the hoopla about the burgers here and finally went to see what the fuss was for ourselves. Well, to start, we didn't know that this was a fast food joint and, except for an occasional $1 beverage at McDonalds, we simply don't like the whole concept. Buying food at a counter and then eating on the run just isn't fun or appealing to us. Oh, I guess back when we were kids it might have, but as mature adults it is not at all attractive. A very limited menu made ordering very easy and the burger was OK but we only stayed because we had a great parking space.

I have previously had good food at Little Big Burger, but the most recent experience was horrific. It was a weekday evening and the location was fairly quiet. I waited more than 20 minutes for my food (I think only one other person was ahead of me). This was the first time that I did not eat on site but chose to take my food to go. When I got home and started to dive in, I discovered that my burger was RAW. Little Big Burger says "all burgers cooked to traditional medium unless otherwise requested". I did not request my burger raw, nor did my friend, but that is what we got. I tried to call the store to report my dissatisfaction, but the line just rang and rang without being picked up. They have two items on their menu: burgers and fries. If you can't get 50% of the menu right, something is very wrong with your business. The staff at all of the locations that I have visited have shown extreme ennui, to the point that I feel that I am putting them out by placing a order. If the food was fabulous every single time, I could deal with the listless staff. But lousy food AND lousy atmosphere? No thank you. I will not return.

The workers are super nice and the burgers are super good! They even have cheap beer to pair with the burger! Def a go to for us when we are craving a "fast food" type burger thats not fast food!

Visited for our first time on a Friday afternoon around 4pm. After placing our order we were given a number and took our seats. Our order number was then called out over and over in (for lack of better words) a retarded/special needs voice. Not sure if it was meant to be funny or what but it was very offensive to me...Then the guy behind the counter asked me about my t-shirt I was wearing and cracked jokes with the other staff members. The food was great but because of our experience I will never be returning. Hopefully no one else will be treated like this

Yummy little burgers with just the right type and amount of toppings. My boyfriend and I each ordered a cheeseburger, a coke and we split the fries. You get A LOT of fries, and it's plenty for two people. Our total came to about $15, totally reasonable for dinner for two. I kind of wish I'd asked for the fries without the truffle oil though, because after a while that truffle flavor starts to build and get old. But overall, the food was really solid and I'd certainly go back. I guess I should have known by the name of the place, but the burgers actually are kind of little ha! Not like the big two handers you would get at a place like Foster Burger so, a monster appetite might not be satisfied here.

Burgers small for price. The fries are the best, better than any of the chains like in and out or five guys. Go for the fries and buy 2 of the burgers!

Great quality food, very small servings considering $$$. Lack luster/uninviting service, most workers had an attitude. I won't be going back ever. Portions are great for small kids but not the average adult.

First time here great fries but the burger is way too small and the prices are extremely pricey

I live very close to this location, but had always avoided it because I find their sign extremely pretentious. While the prices are fair, and the idea of a $4 veggie burger appeals to me occasionally, the fact that their menu is their sign, well, I just don't like it. ANYWAY I broke down and got myself a veggie burger and some fries the other night. So, what the hell is everyone so stoked on? People love burgers, I get it, but I really feel like the novelty factor of this place isn't even strong enough to fool you into liking this trash. It was one of the most unsatisfying veggie burgers Ive ever had. Really basic, bland, and dry. BUT the fries. THE FRIES. DISGUSTING. I went to a bar afterwards to have a drink and forget the money I wasted on this trash food. i left the fries there, at the bar, because not even very drunk and hungry men would eat them. I was hungry wen I went to LBB, but I left with a partially full stomach (the burgers really are LITTLE) but an empty wallet & soul.

Started with the fries, best decision I could have made. They were delicious. Then I unwrapped a charbroiled hockey puck. It tasted alright, but definitely some of the driest meat I've ever swallowed. Would I go back? Sure. Will I be sober? Probably not.

Best hamburgers ever, my kids love them. Like the fries, good service . Good family place.

Short menu should make the burgers even better since it is their focus. Found them to be like any fast food burger. Truffle fries are excellent. I recommend going there for them.

The burgers are fresh, the fries crisp and real, the staff friendly, but music is way too loud, both here at Alberta and the downtown 10th ave location.

  • Kelsey K.

Delicious burgers with a great selection of cheeses and of course the forever amazing truffle fries. Option to have burger wrapped in lettuce is nice for those trying to eat healthy or who are gluten free. One free order can usually work for two people, and you'll probably end up with leftovers (which taste delicious if you freeze them then pop them in the oven!) Great new location on alberta is also right across the street from salt & straw, a great option for dessert.

  • Kyle R.

Service was alright but the food was great! Exactly what I was looking for. The burger meat was delicious and the ketchup they use is some of the best I've ever had. The real gem here are the truffle oil fries... wow

    (5)
  • Rachael T.

Way overpriced and staff aren't too friendly. The veggie burger definitely doesn't meet the 1/4 standard and lacks flavor. One of our burgers was sent back twice for being so undercooked it was like tartare. The truffle fries are kickin' tho.

    (2)
  • Michelle H.

This LBB isn't as stellar as the other locations, for whatever reason that may be. The service isn't as great, the fries aren't as truffle-y. You might be better off going to a different LBB if you want the full mouth-gasm experience. This one's basically lackluster.

    (3)
  • Debbie L.

Really love that I can get a veggie burger whenever I feel like one. Been to a few locations and they are pretty consistent. Really like the fries with truffle oil. The burgers aren't huge so for me, they are perfect. Hubby wishes they were a bit bigger for the money but really, the quality and those fries are worth it! I haven't tried a rootbeer float yet but I will soon!

  • Vincent T.

They're small but they pack a serious punch in your mouth. I was surprised at first when the burger showed up. I was like "Is this it?" Just a tiny little thing? I mean I went all out, I haven't eaten anything all day. Pepper Jack Bacon Burger, truffle fries, and a tall beer. Then I took a bite. Now that burger, it bites back. Now here's another thing. I hate ketchup. But their ketchup or catsup, makes me want to slather it all over their already awesome salty fries. The fries are just the right amount of tasty, the ratio of fat, salt, and sweet are balanced. But the fry sauce with a dollop of their trademark ketchup, it just supercharges it. One of the best fries I ever had. I'd definitely come back for the fries. The burger, it is good. It is up there with Shake Shack and proves that In N Out isn't the end all of specialty burgers. Good things come in small packages.

    (4)
  • David C.

Their burgers may be small, but they pack some serious flavor. Do yourself a favor and get the bacon and goat cheese add on! You'll keel over in paradise once you taste that combination. And you can't forget the truffle fries. They are fried perfectly to a crisp, and the truffle flavor is actually really apparent unlike some other places that boast the same. Overall, an awesome joint to get a no frills burger and fry meal.

  • William D.

The burgers are always on point, the fries crispy and delicious, and can i get a what what for the ketchup game? The ketchup is a keeper, yea it might only be a condiment in most eyes but this stuff truly complements the fries and the burger. Sometimes i wonder if its the fries or the ketchup that shine. Regardless they make a delicious pairing. The ketchup is also sold to go. So if youre in love with it as i am, take a bottle home. The burgers are always on point, and theres a selection of caned beers for those who are inclined. When ever i have a fry fix or a burger fix this remains one of my top choices. Fast, simple, and conveneitne they deliver every time.

  • Kristie L.

I would probably give this a 3.5 stars, but I rounded up. The burger size is a problem for me... it's more of an oversized slider than a real burger. However, the fact that there are cheese options is bomb. I went with the bleu cheese and it was fantastic. I freaking LOVED the truffle fries. They were the perfect crispiness and saltiness I was hoping for, and the special ketchup as well as the special sauce (I forget the name, but it was the Camden's Catsup mixed with mayo) were perfect complements. I also squeezed the special sauce on every bite of my burger. There were heat lamp "fans" (they didn't twirl) that warmed the space well, and the place was super clean. Can't compare it to In-N-Out, but it was pretty darn good. BONUS: they are across the street from Salt & Straw so the lack of size in the burger can be equalized with a scoop of ice cream!

    (4)
  • Kari M.

I really like this new LBB location. Never been to a LBB before? No prob, the menu is posted up huge on the wall outside! Make your decisions before you even get through the door. You won't miss this place either- the whole building has been painted bright red. The decor is pretty sweet- I really like the ceiling fans with the fluorescent bulbs on the blades. An average amount of seating is available, pretty on par with other LBB locations. Want ice cream after your tasty burgers? Salt & Straw is right across the street!

I waited in like for an hour at the grand opening of the Alberta Street location. I've had Little Big Burger twice before a long time ago, didn't really remember much, but since they were handing out free burgers I figured why not attend the grand opening. First of all, the ambiance of this restaurant is quite awesome. The whole building is painted red, with their name and menu in giant letters painted right along the side of the store. The inside of the store follows the same red design flow, complete with awesome lights, and a viewable kitchen so you can watch your food be made. It's hard to say that this was worth the wait. The burger was really good, but the size is so small. I ordered the burger with Chèvre cheese which is a goat cheese. The cheese was very creamy, but wasn't very flavorful. The burger itself was good and cooked to a great medium well. The juices were oozing out of the patty and soaked up by the bun. My main concern here is the size. I could eat the burgers here in two to three bites if I wanted to, so for $4.25, I don't know if I would pay for it. I believe it was cheaper the first time I went to a Little Big Burger which was in Eugene, OR. It's worth trying out if you've never been to a Little Big Burger. Their truffle fries are delicious and very flavor, a must order. Great customer service too. I got handed a bag of fries while was outside waiting in line!

The quintessential 3 star chain dining experience. The service at this store was particularly prompt and friendly, and I remain very grateful for that... nearly to the point of offering 4 stars for a place whose food alone just aint in 4 star territory----- then I discovered somehow, someway, somebody put SWEET PICKLES on my veggie burger. **** AAACCCCCCCCCCKKKKKKKKKKARRRRRGGGGGHHHHHNOOOOOOO**** Yo. Just say "no" to the sweet pickles. Also, it remains an oddity at least to my little pea-shooter brain, that they offer cans of beer at LBB--- It's hard to imagine, off hand, an eatery with LESS of an inviting vibe that says "come kick back with friends for a few hours and enjoys beers and sliders/ooops our HAMBURGERS." Maybe it would help if I ever saw people actually sitting, drinking beer in a LBB, all the while emitting a vibe of hearty gaiety. It would be like seeing people sitting and getting BLOTTO at Shari's.... which I have also never seen, and bet that most people don't even realize they have spirits available at your local Shari's. LBB your existence continues to confound me. Your food is ok enough (although I can't stress enough: Sweet Pickles! Yuuuuuuuuuucky!). Thank you, sincerely, for teaching your young servers manners, or at least having the good sense to hire people who already conspicuously display said manners. It's a sad commentary on our culture, when such things can no longer be taken for granted, when dining out. Res ipsa loquitor (roughly translated, from Pig Latin: "Yo-- just shhay N-O to the S-h-h-h-w-e-e-t P-I-c-k-l-e-s-h-h-h")

Truffle fries were delicious. Nothing too special about the burgers though. Service: great. Food came out fast and well presented Tip: burgers are all served medium. It does say this at the bottom of their menu.

  • April C.

Food: delicious. Service: rough. The front counter person is way more interested in venting to the cook than paying attention to customers. Greeting people also isn't her thing, but it does vary. Good place to grab some cheap food just don't be in a hurry.

  • Aimee L.

Sadly, LBB seems to not be consistent. When we first came here we were in that "eff yeah, this is great!" but this time around it was just okay. Not bad, just not that level of awesome we were used to. My husband's cheeseburger had such minimal cheese it was barely visible and not even tastable, sadly. The fries seemed to be the remnants from the basket as they were tiny pieces that were hard to dip in ketchup. And the service was a bit confused. They're still a good deal and we'll give them another try but they could use some more consistency. Also, ask customers if it's for here or to go - a lot of folks eat in and therefore giving them their food in a paper bag is just silly and wasteful. Give us trays :)

Small bites for those people like me, want a burger with not so much guilt . So it's a krabby patty size. And must try their truffle fries if you don't know what truffle oil taste like . It's an overload of fries if you want to make up for the small burger . Best veggie patty I've ever had . And that's what I get each time. Fast, cheap, good. Fits in the palm of your hand

It took 20 mins for one order of truffle fries... There was no line. The girls were incredibly slow and short staffed.

I couldn't resist the visual draw of these burger joints. Bright red with the menu and prices prominently painted on the outside of the building. How cool is that? Unfortunately, the coolness ended when I entered. My burger was slow to arrive (there were about five customers, most had their food already), beyond well-done/dry/burnt, and I was forced to swat at flies incessantly. I visit McDonalds about once a year. I think I'd have preferred it over this experience. The only saving grace was that I was alone so my wife didn't have to suffer through it too.

Lame. They completely changed from when i was here 3 or 4 months ago. I thought that the Mississippi location was only out of fries that day but it seems like Little Big Burger changed their fries. These are not the yukon gold fries that i once had before. The first time i ate it was the best burger id ever had. Fries were perfect and so was the burger. Now they use shoe string frozen french fries and the bread seems cheaper on the burger. I was taking my brother here and told how good it was only to be disappointed. Not coming back.

  • Andrew D.

Hamburgers were good but fries were over cooked and way over salted. Could not finish the fries. Had to wipe down own table after previous customers left. Kitchen noise is quite loud and made conversation a little difficult.

Came here to just to try the truffle fries for $2.75. It is a quick and easy snack that will definitely fill the spot. The fries are made fresh and they smother the fries with truffle oil. As you see them squirting the truffle oil on the fries, the aroma fills the room and you are in a truffle oil euphoria. The reason I only gave three stars is because of the wait time. I expected fries to come out a bit faster even though they are made fresh. The place is clean and the food looks great but the speed seemed a bit slow. Another thing that I guess was a bit distracting was how loud the music was. I am not sure what vibe and environment they are trying to create in their restaurants so maybe it is was purpose. It is a good place for a grab-n-go meal. i saw others just coming in for truffle fries and/or a burger. I may come back if I am in Portland but there are just so many options in Portland that Little Big Burger isn't on the top of my list.

Burgers are definitely above average, they definitely satisfy a burger craving. Not too greasy, with a nice char, and the meat has good flavor. The burgers are somewhat small, but the price is fair for the portion. If you are very hungry you could get two for 8.50$. I appreciate that they don't overcharge for the blue/chevre etc. cheeses. The service has always been very friendly, and if I don't order a drink, they often give me a water without my having to ask, which is nice. I don't do any very special requests (usually bleu w/ lettuce wrap) but I haven't had my order incorrect once so far, so no problems there. The only inconsistency I have run into is that sometimes ketchup is already on, sometimes it isn't. I don't care either way though. The bacon here is just ok, I usually skip it. Much better than killer burger in my opinion (though they have far less toppings) and a solid choice overall.

  • John G.

Food - depends on which night you come here. Hit and miss at this location. Been here SEVERAL times and something is almost always wrong with the order. "Give me a veggie burger, blue cheese, NO ketchup". Get home and what do you know - there is ketchup. This happens ALOT if you special order here. I've eaten at the Mississippi location a few times without trouble. When they do get it right, it's fairly good. The staff is super friendly, I'll give them that, but they have trouble getting the orders right, and I really hate looking like an a$& and checking the order in front of them before I go. I guess I don't have to worry about that any more though, because....... What really kills it for me now is they are selling out! I continued to come here to "support local". I never eat fast food except for here because it felt different. Fresh ingredients, compostable everything (napkins, wraps, bags, etc...), and it was locally owned. Now that word is they have sold out to the same corporate chain as Hooters, I will likely never come back.

    (3)
  • Tara R.

Whenever I'm craving a cheeseburger, this is the place I go. I love that they offer different cheeses and even have a lettuce wrap option (at no extra charge). Not sure what others are talking about with the loud music, I could barely hear it this last visit. Maybe it's because I showed up during normal business hours and didn't force them to stick around after closing. Who knows.

Chain fast-food burger and fries joint, I think it's the Oregon's version of In-N-Out. At this particular location, it is across from Salt and Straws Ice Cream shop in NE Alberta. Spacious, counter and table seating. Good for a quick lunch, dinner or late night with few friends. Menu as of Sept 2014: $4.25 Cheese burger with your option of 4 different cheeses $4 Hamburger $4 Veggie burger $2.75 Truffle fries $2 Fountain soda $3.75 Rootbeer Float *Homemade ketchup According to my bf, the burgers are small. I've only tried the truffle fries and I thought it was tasty with a VERY mild taste of truffle oil. I don't think I would've been full from a burger if I was very hungry for dinner. And for $5, that's not a good sign. Street and residential parking. I would try to find a spot 1-2 blocks away since it can be busy as you close up to it. I'm going to give it a 3.5 stars but I did enjoy the fact they have homemade spicy ketchup and cheap truffle fries.

  • Sebastian K.

The food here is above average, definitely better than your typical fast food burger. The burgers are a bit on the small side, but they customize them to your liking and you get a choice of what cheese you want on your burger. I am a big fan of bleu cheese, and they had it on hand for my burger. Another big plus is that they serve beer and it's cheap. Not as cheap as drinking at home, but they only serve cans to reduce costs. Their fries are also delicious, and they are sprinkled with truffle oil. They're a bit too salty for my liking, but they go along great with the fry sauce they give you (If I remember correctly, it's ketchup mixed with mayonnaise. Prices are also reasonable and you can get a burger, fries and a beer for under ten dollars. It's also conveniently located in the Alberta Arts District though there are a few other locations throughout the Portland Metro area.

Our family has visited this location probably 4 times this spring/summer softball season. Our little trips start here and then across the street for some ice cream. Tonight the game ran a little long and we didn't make it until 9:45 when we placed our order according to the receipt. There were probably 8 other orders in front of us, but the burgers and fries are always worth the wait. When our order was called at 9:57 we stared eating and talking about the night's game. Halfway into our burgers, and just a few fries deep, obnoxiously loud rap music blared through the sound system startling our 8 month old baby to tears and causing a slightly older child with another family to cover his ears and let out piercingly loud screams. By this time, 10:02pm, our server (Beef was his name according to the receipt) began approaching patrons while giving them thumbs up and yelling over the music "ARE YOU GOOD"? The people who were no longer eating took a hint and got up and left by the time the next song started and we rushed through our burger to get the angry baby out of there. I know too well the feeling of being stuck at work when a customer is taking their time, but I would never force them to flee them by assailing their eardrums. By 10:05 we we're sitting outside the restaurant soothing an upset baby and eating fries out of the bag. Their burgers are pretty good but not good enough to be disrespected like that. We won't be back. Side note: after everyone was gone the music was either turned off, or lowered enough that it wasn't wasn't reorganizing their brain cells.

These are little burgers - sliders basically. The place touts that it is all natural beef (I'm not quite sure what "natural" really means) but you can taste the vast difference between the beef in this burger versus say a McDonald's burger. At $4+ these aren't a cheap date but you can choose the type of cheese. I recommend the goat cheese. It really adds to the flavor. For my husband, 1 burger was not enough so order accordingly or just be prepared to eat a few. The truffle fries are a definite must and at $2.75 - not a bad deal. After eating here got over to Salt and Straw to satisfy your sweet tooth.

I have always loved LBB. The veggie burger with chevre is my go-to quick and ultra-delicious lunch/dinner. However, I recently visited the Alberta location and there were more flies than customers. They were literally swarming our table. We had to leave and search for a bench down the road to eat on. I want to go back to LBB more than anything but it is just not appetizing at this point. I sincerely hope they can find a solution to this problem. Please. I love you LBB.

I love LBB but this one in particular seems a bit off.... I mean WTF, where is the self serve refillable fountain drinks? Also, maybe it may have been an off day but my truffle fries didn't taste very truffley! I should have taken a picture, my fry sauce was a bit too ketchupy too! Burger was still tasty but it just didn't hit the spot like it usually does. I really prefer LBB in NW 23rd, Mississippi, and even the Pearl (even though that place is ungodly crazy).

I was in love with the truffle fries. Everything should probably be fried in truffle oil. They also had a "special sauce" which from Utah out of towners means fry sauce. You usually can't find fry sauce anywhere besides Utah and Idaho so this was a special treat. The burgers were well made and not too overwhelming, in the way that artisan burgers can be. Their ingredients were really fresh and the burger was dressed with one of the best pickles I've ever eaten. (I don't even really like pickles.) The ketchup had a little kick to it. It was pleasant but not painful which I think can be really hard to do. On thing I'd like to see happen is composting. They use a lot of paper in their packaging that should end up in landfills. They could at least compost.

Mmm. Their truffle fries were so good. We passed by here on our way to pine state biscuit but didn't bother to stop by. After our disappointing meal at pine state biscuit and still being hungry, we stopped here for some fries. It looked like a great restaurant to take kids and the family. We didn't have any of the other items on the menu (though we wished we had), I can vouch that the fries were scrumptious. It tastes like truffles and were the perfect crispy texture. We are up all our fries under 5 min. They were truly delicious.

I'll re-asses this review if I ever choose to return for a full meal. We visited Little Big Burger for the first time for a small snack during a long day of visiting shops in the Rose City Yarn Crawl. We were drawn in by the large printed menu on the exterior of the building. "Truffle fries...$2.75". My wife and I really dig truffle fries. So we enter this "fast casual" food joint and they have the same simple menu inside as is painted outside their walls. We're really just hungry enough for fries, so my wife steps up to the counter first to order. We are a party of 3, accompanied by our friend who is vegan, and who has good reason to be, she becomes violently ill when in contact with any dairy. So my wife asks, "are your truffle fries vegan friendly?" Because, as we have enjoyed many times, truffle fries can be garnished with shaved Parmesan, or tossed butter with truffle powder instead of oil. The cashier gave a blank stare and replied, "I think so," and in the tone of a rude, condescending know-it-all, "I mean, they're just potatoes." She was further rude and condescending when my wife asked for a small drink, and received the reply, "Those aren't small drink cups, they're just for water." My wife tried to be helpful and when asked if her order was complete, she added that her order was "to-go" and the cashier once again let my wife know as is it were totally obvious that "it's all to-go". Beyond the condescending service from the cashier, we all received our fries, which by default comes with some sort of sauce we guessed was not vegan friendly but you can sub out for plain ketchup. My fries felt over-cooked, and really barely tasted like they had truffle oil on them or salt. The sauce that's included was tangy and a little spicy, not really nothing special though. I felt like this wasn't desirable to dip my fries in at first, because it covered what little truffle flavor I was gathering from the fries, but ultimately became useful when I grew tired of the overcooked, bland flavor of the fry.

Like a lot of great foods burgers are versatile, able to transform infinitely and accommodate virtually any taste. Teriyaki and pineapple, blue cheese and bacon, falafel and tahini, or a patty wedged between two Krispy Kremes--if you will it, it is no dream. And while all of those may have their place in the burger pantheon, I'm a traditionalist, preferring high quality meat and a few basic tried and true toppings. On that note, I enjoyed Little Big Burger because it offers great and simple ingredients. The meat was fresh, flavorful and juicy, and the brioche bun was on point! This was also the first time I had goat cheese on a burger and it melded perfectly! Yes, yes, chevre may be venturing away from traditional and into the experimental and avant garde but who cares? Like Keynes, when the facts change, I change my mind.

Been here three times. Love the veggie burger with chèvre. The truffle fries are totally worth the calorie hit. The staff are not particularly chatty, but friendly and efficient. My favorite thing about LBB is the Camden's Catsup. I crave the stuff. There is an ongoing "Camden's vs Portland Ketchup Company" debate between my best friend and me...but I gotta give points to Camden's. I'm taking several bottles with me back to California :)
