Okay, I hope I don't ruin my reputation by doling 5 stars like change on a freeway off ramp, but I think this place deserves some good recognition. I found this place while waiting for my car alarm repair a few years ago. It's just down the street. It's a greasy (dusty) spoon located at the edge of the Parkrose Heights neighborhood, not far from the nickle arcade I used to frequent as a kid. It's run by a really nice asian american family that is friendly, welcoming, and very attentive!! I think I've been here about 4 times over the last few years. On my last visit, I was feeling particularly down, and wanted some comfort food, without any crowds or backtalk. I was in the area, and thought that it would be a good place to go to eat alone with some peace and quiet. I've only had their breakfast food, so I can't vouch for lunch food. I ordered the "waffle plus" - (2 eggs and 2 bacon). My eggs (over medium) were done perfectly, and served on a separate plate that was HOT!! I LOVE THAT!!!! Eggs were warm and delicious to the last bite! The coffee cups are the classic, dainty type, but they keep it coming, and with a smile. It's nice to be able to say "No thank you", rather than having the coffee service just STOP. Ambiance is kinda blah, but you need something to keep away the hipsters. In this place, you're going to see a lot of elderly regulars. It's sweet, actually. There was this well dress, middle aged buxom woman that comes through the door, and everyone says a big warm, "Hi Gramma!!!". It was really sweet actually. I remember seeing her there before, because I remember how cute she was. I've always been in the afternoon, so not sure how busy they are in the early morning. Slow in the afternoon. They do close early. Found this out too late as I wanted to go there yesterday. I will definitely be by soon.

Seriously, I'm the first to write a review of this little Portland treasure? Cool. I love a good find! Forget the glitz, glamor or happening, hipster-chic, pseudo-bohemian haunts around Portlandia. I WANT GOOD GRUB. PERIOD! Kings Omelets is frequented by real, salt-of-the-Earth working-class types whom, I am quite certain, know nothing of Yelp. That would explain the lack of endorsements. I certainly hope they don't mind me ringing the dinner-bell for them! This place is already busy for breakfast and lunch. Fortunately, the seating is plentiful and the floorplan is spacious...lot's of parking too. Food-wise it's super sandwiches, burgers, soups, and yes great omelettes too! Sooo much better than you will get at Denny's or IHOP! No "urban spiced herb-burger with an organically-grown bay leaf garnish" for $14.95 here though. At KO you will get good comfort-food cookin' like grandma used to do! The service is old-school too, in other words Johnny-on-the-spot with the coffee-pot, is the rule. And watch out! That server just MIGHT call you "Honey." Yeah, it's waaaaaayyy out there at SE 107th and Halsey, but guess what? So is a lot of great stuff in Portland! One suggestion though KO, it is time to UPGRADE the coffee! This IS Portland you know. The truckstop java doesn't cut it here any more, if it ever did.

Great place for breakfast and lunch. They are now open until 8:00 PM on weekdays and will serve up a dinner for you. Great food here and absolutely great service. Your coffee or tea is never empty and the folks here are genuinely concerned that you like their restaurant and their food. There are a lot of other (much more expensive) restaurants in the Portland area that could learn a bit from these people. We eat there a lot and will continue to do so.

While the decorations may not be the most posh (or well-dusted), their staff are always friendly, attentive, fast and awesome, just like their food! They have a huuuge selection to choose from on their menu and we always leave with a to-go box because there is so much food! This place has quickly become our favorite Sunday morning breakfast spot.

So glad we found this place! We ate there two days in a row. We split an omelet the first day and then eggs Benedict the second day. Looks like it is family run. Everyone is warm and show they care about the service and food. Lots of regulars who know each other and the servers.

I have passed by this place too many times to count. Im really glad that our regular breakfast joint was too busy to want to wait at, because this place was just down the street, and it was an excellent find! I will now be a regular here. The food is NOT greasy, not even a little, which to me is AWESOME! My boyfriend and I had the Western Skillet and the Buckwheat Plus. Both of which I crave on a daily now. The service was top notch, especially with coffee and other drinks. Everyone is so friendly there. I highly recommend looking past the dated exterior, and stop in to try this spot. Its my new favorite!

Wait staff was nice - i think it was family run. Eggs were fine but the links were budget and the hash browns hard and horrible.

After driving past this restaurant for quite some time, my husband and I finally stopped in for brunch. We weren't disappointed!! :) The waitstaff was very friendly and attentive! Our waiter was so nice and certainly made us feel welcome. The food was good! Honestly, it's diner food but tasted delicious and fresh! Plus, the prices were affordable and relatively low, compared to other breakfast places in town! With the low prices, delicious food and wonderful staff, Kings Omelets has made it to our list of favorite brunch places! We will be back! :)

Classic American restaurant with good breakfast-lunch items and reasonable prices. We have been dining here for years and have always enjoyed the food and a visit with the owners.

It's American food. The shrimp omelet with hollendaise sauce and cheese was delicious, but I had forgotten how long it's been since I had eaten anything so rich! The sourdough rye toast arrived, and the only thing that connected it to toast was the fact that it was warm. Shouldn't toast be somewhat golden brown? That's normal toast, and I like mine darker. But the only color on this toast came from the butter. So I sent it back (much to the surprise of our server, who seemed to think it was fine). I stressed that I liked really dark toast, wouldn't be unhappy if it were a little burned. So the toast returned, very lightly golden in color. On my way to the rest room I looked at other diner's toast. Everyone who ordered toast had what was basically warmed bread. Perhaps it's time to buy a new toaster? Another surprise was the lack of a liquor license. I'm used to diners being full service, anything from breakfast to dinner. The menu complied with this, but not even a mimosa with Sunday brunch? This cancels out the site as a place to hold impromptu parties, brunch, gatherings. They can get a one day liquor license for planned events. I've been to places which didn't have liquor licenses but allowed the patrons to bring their own bottle of wine for dinner. No, they don't allow that option, but that might be something which simply isn't done in Portland, as opposed to other cities. They are personable, and as loyal to their customers as their customers are to them. There are people who have been going to Kings Omelets for years, and that say a lot about a place. If you're looking for a Sunday brunch gathering fueled by mimosas and bloody marys, this isn't the place. However, if your looking for basic American food, with some rich entrees, you should give this a try.

Great service!! So friendly and attentive. The heavy is amazing! They are definitely known for their famous omelets. The place is very old school- looks like original chairs and tables- dated, but appropriate for the old school feel. LOVE this place

I'm just now getting to this review, however my experience is etched in my memory! GROSS! I ordered the traditional breakfast of eggs, bacon, hash browns, toast. A simple breakfast that really can't be messed up... Yes it can!!! The eggs were cooked in the same oil as the hash browns. How do I know? It pooled on the plate. The service was sub par and the overall experience left me walking away from my plate knowing I would never return.

Not a good breakfast at all The ham and cheese omelette looked more like minced ham Got food poisoning within an hour of eating I could go on but you get the idea

Nope. Nope. Nuh uh. What a terrible way to end what was otherwise a fantastic Portland foodgasm. Seriously, though. How do you make rubbery pancakes? Is this a technique that takes skill? Because I've certainly never experienced it before. Credit is given for coffee, kindness and bacon, but it ain't worth yo money folks.

Worst breakfast ever. Ate there long time ago and it was good. But no longer. Must be new management. Avoid this place at all costs, it will cost you wasted time and money. Also let me add they used Velveeta cheese on top of my scramble. Had to send back to be remade with different cheese and it was still bad. Left there still hungry and with a few less dollars. Should have refused to pay.

We love this place. We've been coming since 2006. Wonderful family. Great service. The omelets are always good. Inexpensive awesome breakfasts and something for the whole family. They make it fun for kids with huge whipped cream on the hot chocolate and their funny face pancake. Thanks for serving our neighborhood!

I have been going here ever since I was a little kid. I have never been disappointed. The food is above avg with a tremendous omelet selection. The decor is nothing fancy. Very dated. But who cares. They are not overpriced and it's obvious the food and service is why they remain and shall continue while others come and go.

This place is awesome. Highly recommended. The food was great. The asparagus omelet was good. The biscuits were amazing. Get the gravy. Chicken fried steak was great. What's makes this place so good is not just the food, which is good, but the people. The restaurant is family owned and ran. The personalized service is what keeps you coming back. They know all the regulars, and make you want to be a regular. Very friendly and treat you like family. If in the area, you have to stop by.

Andi O. described the place to a "t." The feeling yes, homey... maybe I was looking for something a little more interesting and tasty this AM however. Food was sufficient, fast and economical though lacking in flavor. Exception: Egg was very fresh and cooked marvelously medium. Coffee: big negative. Weak and flavorless.

Whelp, this place is exactly what you would expect by the looks and location. Country music, modest and slightly kitsch decor...what's up with the stuffed animals? Decent diner food, good prices. The staff is so friendly, I couldn't possibly give any less than 4 stars. Good job, kids.

My husband and I have eaten here a few times and were happily surprised with the service and the food. We decided to bring the rest of the family for a Sunday breakfast. Soooo disappointing!! The food was below average. My son said " I've had better pancakes at Denny's! My husband had sausage links that we suspected were something along the lines of brown and serve. The worst part came the next morning when I checked my bank account (as I always do to make sure I haven't been over charged for any transactions). Upon my surprise my $29.10 bill at Kings became $36.37??? I called the retaurant. The owner? manager? She couldn't explain the charges. I told her I would call my bank. I did, and the CSR laughed and said they probably charged for a tip....after I left! I did some quick math, and the tip was suspiciously 25% of my bill. I called Kings back, talked to the same lady. This time she blamed the bank. Why would the bank charge me extra for my meal? She stated the cashier was her daughter. I told her she may want to talk to her. Not trying to argue I told her I as yelping about it and hung up. My concern is that Kings Omelets serves a large elderly community who are vulnerable to things like this. DOUBLE CHECK YOUR BILL!!!

Best Omelets in Town. They are created in a unique manner, square rather then oval. Great prices and very freindly.

I've been sitting here trying to figure out what to write about this place and I'm still not sure. The decor is odd, clearly a military family, there are flags and photos of military members, stuffed animals and plants, as well as the, I'm guessing, Chinese symbols you see in many Asian businesses. The radio plays country music, and at 43, my husband was the youngest person in the place by at least 30 years. That being said, the food was good and the service was fast and friendly. There's something about the place that gives me a warm feeling, like having breakfast at grandma's.

My omelet was really good, and the coffee service was fantastic. I would be more than happy to go back again, but do not know if I ever will, as it wasn't spectacular (like Mother's Bistro) and I would prefer to try other places. If i were a local I would go here a lot.

Went in here for a cheaper, more homestyle breakfast and that's what we got. I wasn't expecting gourmet and one shouldn't expect that here but it is a good, solid breakfast. The stand out was the server. The younger, gentleman was literally running around the restaurant taking care of a ton of tables. Quick service is legit especially in Portland. If you're looking for top of the line then go somewhere else but if you want a place that there isn't a wait to get a table, is a solid home cooked style breakfast, and doesn't cost much then hit up Kings Omelets.

I give 5 stars for fantastic coffee and superb service. Family run, well taken care of business. Food is good, nice portion sizes and lots of smiles. I love this place. They always remember me even if I don't go for a year. You can tell this family's livelihood is based on this restaurant. They treat you great, you're food is consistent and you can tell how much their regulars care about them.

This place has delicious, cheap, homestyle breakfasts that I'm surprised haven't been Yelped about more. It is fast becoming my favorite nearby breakfast joint. The booths and tables have definitely seen better days, but the omelets are four-star-worthy and the great service easily makes it five stars. In my humble opinion, the waitstaff is the friendliest in Portland, and they make sure that I always leave this place with a smile on my face.

The food here was good but not exceptional or anything; better than Denny's for sure, but nothing that's going to haunt my dreams or anything. The biscuits and gravy in particular were pretty tasty; I also liked that the strawberry waffle was topped with a huge mound of real, fresh sliced strawberries, not preserves, and had tons of whipped cream. What elevated it to four stars instead of three was the service, which was really exceptionally good. Both of the people I dealt with (a middle-aged Asian woman and a young Asian man - I was guessing mother and son but I could be wrong) were both very nice and extremely attentive. You don't often encounter service like that anymore, and it made a big difference - I will be back again in spite of the unexceptional food, just because of the great service.

My husband and I had breakfast here last week and I will be back! EVERYTHING we ordered was excellent. The waffle was the old fashioned, small hole crispy on outside, tender on inside type. The biscuits were homemade and perfectly cooked. The country gravy, tasty and ample portion and the pepper king omelet was done but not dry (I hate runny omelets!). The coffee (decaf and regular) was even good! I don't have a single complaint or suggestion for the entire experience. The place was clean, service was fast too. Yummy! I hope my next experience is just as good ;)

A friend and I just stopped in for breakfast. He had corned beef hash and eggs and I had the "eggs float" with hash browns. Eggs float is biscuits and gravy with eggs on top. Both meals were excellent, and unlike most other restaurants, nothing was too salty. The owner stopped by our table and in our conversation he mentioned that he had changed coffee brands. Next time, I'm going to order coffee!

Two stars for it being what it is. A diner apparently aimed at the most sensitive of palettes. Because every bit of was as bland as could be. I ordered the King special, consisting of two eggs (over medium), country potatoes, bacon, and biscuits and gravy. I think it was all cooked via heat lamp. As a person who appreciates bacon (I know we're hard to come by), this bacon was barely lovable. The potatoes had the most delicate dusting of seasoning on them. The biscuits were fair to mediocre (you decide), and the gravy was nothing to write home about. Though I'm happily writing yelp about it. Anyway, the staff was not very happy to be there, with our waitress being harassed by another waitress for no real reason. So if you're feeling sensitive, or if salt makes you sweat, head on down to Kings Omelet for little more than sustenance.

This was my first Portland experience and it was great! The service was the friendliest I'd had in a long time. Looking around after being seated, my bf and I realized this was definitely a spot that the Senior locals go to. We ordered the country fried steak, eggs and hash-browns. The eggs and hash-browns were perfect. The eggs were sweet and after asking the waitress, I learned that they add a little vanilla to the eggs to give them a sweet taste. SOOOO good! Unfortunately, the country fried steak was not THAT great. It was homemade, the breading fell off as you cut into and the gravy atop was delicious but the meat itself was very bland. Though the chicken was disappointing, I do love the people who work their and the eggs....the eggs are amazing...I can't get over them. Definitely a do-over!

The best place for breakfast in all of Portland. They are only open until 2pm. Its run by an asian family, and serves the best breakfast, real homestyle biskets and gravy, good ol canned cornedbeef and hash. The omelets are great. This is a real wallet friendly place with SUPERB service. Try the iced green tea, its fantastic. A nice, friendly place to spend some cash.
