K&F is pretty good. They are always chipper first thing in the morning long before I'm fun to be around. They're also the earliest to open in the Clinton/Division hood, so if you're a working stiff you should make friends with them for your 5 am visits...

K&F is a tasty and reliable local competitor to Portland's Stumptown Coffee. Featuring Organic, Fair Trade, and Bird-Friendly coffees, the Clinton Street shop location is an always-inviting atmosphere with free Wi-Fi and much friendlier baristas than their, sometimes snobby, competition. They also serve Oregon Chai brand teas, a local favorite.

Great coffee, seasonal drinks, super friendly staff and patrons. Great alternative to the busy/coolness of Stumptown.

Stopped in yesterday while waiting for a friend to show up for waffles across the street (which are also awesome, btw). I am really surprised there were only a couple people in this cute little shop; I would be here every day if I lived in the area. I am SO HAPPY my friend was running a bit late and I was early (for a change). I had a basic vanilla latte and was floored by how delicious the coffee was! I didn't even get two sips into it before I was dragging an employee around demanding recommendations on what I should buy for the french press arriving in my mail today. I got the Cafe Serrana, and will update my review once I try it. The employees were great and very helpful. I had to wait for a few moments to buy my coffee beans, as the girl behind the counter was distracted by thoroughly cleaning her station, so I didn't want to interrupt her. She apologized for not noticing me standing there, regardless, and asked if I wanted my coffee beans ground in store or if I'd be taking them home to grind myself. It took me an hour on Trimet to get from St Johns down to this magical corner of waffles and coffee.... SO worth it. Great coffee and service. I can't wait for my current espresso roast to run out so I have an excuse to go back!

Location and coffee are good. But we refer to it as 'The No Smile Coffee Shop'. The employees never smile. At least, when ever we've been there. We opt for the Flying Cat where we are always enthusiastically greeted.

Love the location right on the corner, this coffee shop is a great place to set up and get some work done. Lots of seating and windows for light. Recommend the iced coffee, it is smooth flavored and strong!

I walked into K&F coffeehouse for the first time today and was never greeted by any of the three employees. The cashier never smiled at me or showed me any kind of pleasantries. I studied the menu as she drank her coffee behind the counter and openly texted. She didn't know the answer when I asked how much it was to add a flavored syrup to a latte, nor did she look up from her text to answer me. I felt extremely dissatisfied as a customer here; the coffee was expensive and mediocre; the customer service was terrible. I will not be returning.

Just moved to the area and can't get Comcast to my place for a week. I walked a few blocks down the street to this lovely cafe and fell in love. Great coffee, friendly owner, plug ins galore for laptops, delicious pastries and fast wifi. I'll definitely be a regular.

Very convenient location and the product was pretty decent. I had a drip coffee and almond croissant and my buddy had a cappuccino and bagel. My coffee was tasty and the croissant was fair enough. From what I heard the cap was very good. We got a very mixed vibe from the place that was not terrible but a little off-putting. One barista seemed very supercilious and unfriendly, barely even spoke or made eye contact. The other was extremely friendly and enthusiastic--so enthusiastic that she was basically shouting to her coworkers from across the room the whole time. Inside voices, please! I think she knew it, too. Still, at least she seemed to be enjoying the job, which is nice. But it made it hard to have a conversation. Seating and layout are ample but a bit cramped. I won't be hurrying back but won't avoid it either; good product and could just use a little more attention to service and ambience. In the area, Coffee Division and Little T are both much better.

When I need a coffee, I need a coffee... Waiting for a table up the street, and K&F Clinton Street Coffeehouse seems like a decent place just for a quickie.. and my Yelp app approved my findings too as the reviews are quite decent. Luckily I was not disappointed! Great Neighbourhood Coffee place. Service was friendly though a little slow. But I was on vacation and I was chilling outside in one of the tables by the sidewalk on a nice fall day.. Cappuccino was decent with a great milk froth and quite smooth. I can sit here for awhile and watch life goes by.. until my friends wake me up and said our table is ready!

I'm really picky about my coffee. I either love it or I hate it. I LOVED the coffee here. I ordered a large one but they still gave it to me in an adorable cup and saucer! They did a beautiful design on top and I was able to sit, relax and use their wi-fi. Its a busy place but I was so comfortable there, I wish it was closer to my house - I'd go all the time! Friendly service, exceptional coffee!

Been around for a very long time. Came very early AM for a cuppa to warm the bones. Cozy living room, easy and homey, simple feel to the place. Has been a coffee name for a very long time---back in the day of Boyd's! Bedrock for the Clinton district....coffee was decent. Unfortunately, bought small bag of beans and dont recall it being too memorable. Like place more than the roast.

Not my favorite in Portland, but they do make pretty decent coffee. The cappuccino I had was smooth and strong (which is how I like it!) They also have a very cozy space, perfect for hanging out, studying, people watching, etc. Also, the barista that served us was super friendly and helpful. Definitely would be back again!

Stopped in at this place to kill some time while waiting to meet a friend for breakfast across the street at Broder. For a Sunday morning, I though the place was rather empty but that is fine with me as I got a tiny table by the window and didn't have to wait in line or wait for my drink. The place is clean, workers are friendly, wi-fi is free and the neighborhood is quiet and quaint. I ordered a small coconut latte and enjoyed the view out the window while I read a book and killed some time. The coffee was a little bitter in my opinion, but not to the point I wouldn't order it again. It was a nice spot to pop in for a bit and I would go back if I was in the neighborhood.

This place was great! Quiet enough, plenty of seating, many options to sip and snack. And open past five o'clock. My kind of coffeehouse!

K&F is a comfortable and inviting cafe to enjoy a great cup of coffee. It's everything a little neighborhood coffee stop should be, hence the 5-stars. I was nearby last week and decided to give them a try. They have a charming corner location that's distinctly lacking in sleek Starbucksian decorations. I heard them greet regulars by name, with a smile. There was a quiet area to sit where I could see friends catching up over a latte. I was greeted outside the front door by somebody's waiting Bernese Mountain Dog. There was a general sense of calm familiarity to the place that made you want to curl up with a book for the day. If you're used to the coffee chain shop experience you might only rate this 3 stars. But if you don't need to buy another overpriced coffee mug or a stale biscotti with your espresso you might just find K&F to be a charming alternative.

They make the best latte I've ever had. I go here every weekend to treat myself, and the employees are always nice. My husband doesn't drink coffee, but he does enjoy their assortment of delicious breakfast food. Even when I come alone, everyone in the restaurant always seems so peaceful and relaxed it rubs off on me (as someone who is often frazzled and stressed that is a huge bonus). This place really adds a lot to the neighborhood.

I've been in four times and each time I've received lack luster service. The coffee is decent, the food is reasonably priced but the customer service is sad. The employees are too involved within their own scenarios to be bothered to have a quick friendly conversation with the people giving them business.

Lattes and mochas served in a cozy location. To avoid burning out on Little T American Baker and New Seasons coffee (as well as my own coffee!!), I have added K&F to my rotation of shops that I walk to in the morning. Lots of Gus Van Sant-type kids from Cleveland High hanging out at K&F. A new generation of caffeine junkies!

Coffee is great but change in baked goods is lousy. Marsee bakery is so much better than the tasteless baked goods from La Provence. Changing my routine to go to coffee shop on Woodstock that stocks Marsee goodies.

K & F roasts are behind the best restaurant coffees in Portland (yes, better than Stumptown, adjust your glasses as angrily as you like, I'm still gonna say it), and their lone public outlet is a great place to pick up a pound of beans, if nothing else. But they hardly shirk their other duties, pulling a rich shot with a smile and a good selection of pastries. Their anti-cell policy sign is sooooo 2005, and uncharacteristically grumpy, but it's a minor blemish on an otherwise fine establishment.

I walked into K & F and immediately knew that I liked the coffee shop. The atmosphere of a place can either make it or break it, and in my book this place made a fiiine first impression. Not only do they serve delicious coffee (I got an Iced Latte, my usual), but they have killer-looking pastries and kitschy gift items (very Portland) for you to peruse while you're waiting for your drink to be made. The baristas are quite friendly, and the location of the store is in a sweet little neighborhood. P.S. I read a review that said they have punch cards, and I need to get on that!

I've been dropping by K&F most mornings over the past few months. Their fast and friendly service keeps me coming back as well as their delicious coffee, but I do have to say, the place has such a cute and welcoming ambiance that I wish I had more time to just hang out here. K&F is conveniently located to my house but even if I move farther away I could definitely see myself coming back to visit.

This is a great little neighborhood cafe - they get up early (5am), have wonderful pastries ordered from a variety of local bakeries, serve good coffee, ice cream, and have free wi-fi. The decor is nice, the seats comfy, and the only thing to be wary of is the huge rush of school kids mid-morning in the week. It's one of my favorites when I'm working from home / coffee shops.

Every time I go to K&F, I have a great experience. They offer bagels, doughnuts, assorted pastries, coffee drinks, ice cream, etc. Basically all your average coffee shop foods. And they ARE all good! I'm a fan of their pizza bagels. A lot of my friends enjoy them too, popular among teenagers. Everything I've tried there has been good though, too. They're pretty quick, and nothing is too expensive. It's an a good location, right on the corner of 26th and Clinton. They also have punch cards! Which, if you even go once every few weeks, is worth it! Free bagel on your 10th or 12th visit, and free drink for the same.

Stopped in here with my wonderful Fiancé and her sister for an afternoon coffee. We sat in for a good hour chatting and just enjoying the day. The coffee they serve is organic and under the name Bella Selva. The place is nice and cozy with friendly service.

I really like K&F during the summer. The steps are filled with kids and their ice cream cones. People are out on walks with their dogs and stop in for some coffee or to talk to neighbors. It is a great feeling. Sometimes there isn't a huge ice cream selection, but they always have coffee and tea. They also have a nice selection of knick-knacks.

Like most of the reviews below, I really wanted this to be a favorite coffee spot I can frequent but not so much. I have tried and tried and spent lots of money there, and not once can they get my drink right. I ordered my drink a certain way and the girl told me thats now how I order it, so she corrected me on my coffee lingo, and the next time I went in and ordered it (the way she advised) they got it wrong! I always take my coffee to go and its so frustrating walking home with my coffee when I find out its wrong. again and again. The service is eh. Reaaaaly reaaaally slow, they make one drink at a time, one, juuuuust one. So dont be in a rush when you go. Not really friendly either, they really just take your order, cash and coffee. No smile, no nothing, and thats even after they see me tip $2-3 in cash. They're not deserving of it most of the time, but I'm in the service industry and believe in tip karma. Great place to get away from Starbucks but coming here will just send you right back. That's one thing those Starbucks corporate people got down-is making drinks consistent you can go to any Starbucks and your favorite drink tastes the same. I'll continue to go here but on days where I'm too lazy to get in my car and drive elsewhere, so I'll settle for the short walk and the chance of a long wait in line and the conversation I'll have to have with the barista that my coffee is wrong.

For the anti-Starbucks crowd, here ya go. While I am a fan of Starbucks, sometimes it is good to get away from the corporate coffee scene and go local. While I'm not sure if K & F Coffee is a chain itself, they sure don't make it feel like it's a chain. And I like it. The baristas are super nice, and the beverages are good. I think I'll have to come back and try their pastries...

This is a great place to study. They offer a wonderful selection of milk alternatives including almond milk. I really wish they would offer toffuti cream cheese (really more coffee shops need this non dairy option!) but at least they have hummus and a few vegan options. I just can never go there in the morning. The service tends to be slow with longish lines and when I am trying to get something quick on the way to work, I can't afford to wait 10 or more minutes. Luckily I mostly need them during the weekend as a quiet place to open my book and learn.

I've been coming here since 1999. K&F's super hero baristas of yore introduced me to coffee, luring me in with delicious baked goods and treats for my dog, then offering me samples of brew till we found one that didn't taste like battery acid to my sweet tooth palette. Thank you Susan and Erin. The coffee and pastries are good. The ambience is homey with surprisingly nice gift items on occasion. The crew is always entertaining, especially the bantering/bickering ex-couple who work the counter many Saturdays (it was definitely his fault, and she makes him pay...)

Long before Stumptown, K&F dominated the locally roasted coffee bean market. And although it has slipped in popularity, it still roasts and sells beans, selling them at their coffee shop in the Clinton pocket. Their coffeeshop also sells ice cream and smoothies (the smoothies are syrupy, I don't recommend them) in addition to their coffee drinks and beans by the pound. Because of its location close to Clinton High School, art students and drama kids pack into this place during their free periods and lunch breaks, so beware!

The coffe at K&F is pretty allright, but I do get a little bit annoyed with the somewhat smarmy nature of many of the staff. I'm all for neighboorhood coffe shops though, so "good on ya" there. Could be way worse, should be a little better.
