There's NOTHING and I do mean NOTHING like a fresh, warm maple bar. Definitely the only donut I eat from here (with the exception of a twist). First of all I like that their donuts don't sit on trays at the bottom of the display case. You never know what could happen and it just seems more sanitary that they would sit up off the bottom. I've never had a stale donut from any of the Heavenly locations and that's commendable since they're open 24 hours. We ordered a few maple bars and a couple raspberry filled donuts. Unfortunately they're all dead now and one of the suspects could be behind this review LOL. If you love donuts, kind customer service and have those weird late night cravings then Heavenly Donuts should be your go to spot. Happy Yelping...

I've gone here a few times for donuts... I'm not going to lie the donuts are really great but you have to catch them when everything is cooked up! If you go at the wrong time you won't be up to get a maple bar a glazed doughnut...it sucks that they don't keep up with the pace of the customers. In my mind I feel that when I go there no matter the time of day I should always be able to get a raspberry filled donut I shouldn't have to wait or select something else that I don't want. This is my reasoning for giving four stars

I knew that another Heavenly Donuts location was here, at Glisan and 102nd. However, I rarely drive east of I-205 on Glisan. Recently, I did and stopped in for a donut ... or two. The selection was not as extensive as that of the Gladstone location in the late afternoon. The donuts were decent, and a little less moist than the ones I've had at Gladstone. The parking lot is a little tough to turn into since drivers are moving along at a brisk pace through this busy intersection. The lady working there was very nice. She even extended me the salutation "que le vaya bien" upon leaving the store. However, that isn't enough for that 4th star. Still, it's an A-ok donut shop. It certainly beats those shellacked looking donuts at Krispy Kreme and Heavenly's donuts are cheaper to boot.

Truly hellish donut experience. Replacing napkins with hand sanitizer is not appealing

Great donuts. Chocolate devil cakes are always moist. The old fashioned are on point. Basically we've never gone wrong with any that we have gotten. Traditional donuts done to perfection.

This place is a really legit spot for outter SE, quality doughnuts for a reasonable price. Though my husband and I have other true favorite doughnut spots, we frequent Heavenly's most often due to location and price. Like most smaller shops, it's a gamble as to what will be available during different days and times of the day - but that's to be expected. We generally get a dozen and it runs us less than $10. They have a good selection of the timeless favs like buttermilk bars, glazed old fashioned and fritters, but also have a good assortment of trendier items as well. They offer milk, coffee and a few places to sit if you're not getting your order to go. Service is also pretty average, not stellar but friendly.

Wow. Heavenly is right!!! Coconut glazed cake donut took all of 5 minutes to eat, and that's because I was savoring the moist cake, sparklingly delicious sugar icing and coconut -- all of it was perfect! These are the best donuts, and yes, Yelpers, as others have said, far better than Voodoo! Sure, you won't have the lines or the hype or any wedding processions here (it's a classic, old-school donut shop, open 24 hours on a busy street -- where cops should hang out!), but wow! These are some damned-fine donuts!!!

I adore Heavenly Donuts. They have a good selection of donuts that are fresh and delicious! I would suggest going earlier in the day to scope out the selection, but that's to be expected with most donut shops.

This is what a donut should taste like. You cannot pick a wrong option here. This place is like a rural mid century time capsule of awesome. Way better option than some over hyped competitors and never a line or wait.

This isn't Blue Star, nor is it Voodoo. It's doesn't try to be. The classic donuts here are very fresh, and the creme in the filled ones is fantastically indulgent. Instead of $3 a pop, they're under a buck, especially if you get a dozen or half dozen. Park w/ ease, support local, make your day!

This is where I go to taste a drop of Heaven's peace. I break off a bite of a warm, glazed buttermilk, crisped softly on the outside, melted and moistly caked on the inside, and it's a touch euphoric. I nibble off a segment of fresh apple fritter, and it melts in the center of my tongue as I drift a little higher into the atmosphere. I could write a love note to each of their doughnuts...but I'll spare you the drippings and just explain why Heavenly Donuts is beyond any doughnut experience you have previously known. Their fritters (apple, blueberry, pineapple, etc.) are faintly crisped on the outside, soft and slightly gooey on the side. They're stuffed full of flavor. And they could easily feed two people (but not likely to happen, since no one wants to share). Their buttermilk doughnuts (they look a little like maple bars, but they're a cake doughnut instead of a dough doughnut) are something I've never experience before finding Heavenly. They are a heavy doughnut, and one can easily put me into a faint sugar buzz. They are well crisped on the outside, like any good deep-fried cake doughnut ought to be, but somehow they manage to keep the inside cakey and moist without being soggy. It's a miracle of science that they have unlocked. The glazed are our favorites, but the maple ones are no less impressive. If you're in the mood for a more subtle sweet, go for the plain buttermilks. They're still sweet, so it's basically like eating deep fried cake. Their old-fashioned doughnuts are just that: old-fashioned. They're what you would envision your great great grandmother making on the farm while waiting for her menfolk to return home from their 10,000 calories burned in the fields. They're a more mild sweet and with a slightly different flavor than the buttermilks, not quite so heavy, and smaller in size. The plain ones are amazing, a playful sweet. The regular glazed are the best you'll find. They also have maple and chocolate ones. There are scads of other kinds, and I have yet to try one that doesn't beat its counterpart at another doughnut store. The only one my husband said might be beatable is their bismark, but that doesn't mean it's not amazing. Your preference in custard flavors is the only thing that might make you opt for a bismark elsewhere in town. They're also very reasonably priced. They're extremely helpful. (I've gotten the "in" on when the buttermilk doughnuts come out of the oven, so they always grab me one from the back even if older ones are on the floor.) And they are open TWENTY-FOUR-SEVEN. So count this as fair warning: If you are not a strong-willed person, take an alternate route home late at night; when the rest of the street is dark, their light will still be shining and their doughnuts waiting.

These donuts are way better than Voodoo. They are always fresh when I stop by. I wish they had one closer to downtown.

You'll find nary a hipster at this joint for the following reasons: 1. It is on THE OTHER SIDE of 82nd. This means several things: a. It is not in the Pearl. b. It is not in swanky Snob Hill/NW. c. It is not in trendy close-in SE or gentrified NoPo. d. It is, in fact, in a crappy part of Portland with pawn shops and freeways and non-ironic strip clubs and wide streets and free parking. e. Therefore, no trust fund baby worth his or her salt will ever find themselves in the vicinity of this little gem of a donut shop. This is a good thing. Why? Because it means I have the donuts ALL TO MYSELF. 2. All the donuts are shaped like donuts. No penis-envy, no precious novelty flavor combinations, no tittering while watching other people's moms say "cock and balls." 3. No lines. Hipsters love waiting in line. It makes them feel like they're doing something important. It also gives them time to smoke half a pack of Spirits and recover from their PBR hangovers. Heavenly is queue-free, unless you count the wizened old men lined up at the counter, silently slurping black coffee while consuming their ritualistic jelly glazeds, occasionally grunting in agreement with one another about "kids these days." That's called ATMOSPHERE, Portland. What you WILL find here, however, are damn delicious donuts. I had an apple fritter taste-off last year, and Heavenly won. You should probably buy a couple dozen because you will love them so much. While you're at it, bring me a fritter. Or seven.

I adore Heavenly Donuts. The donuts themselves are aptly named-simply heavenly. I have found myself addicted to their buttermilk maple bars lately. Prices are much lower than Voodoo, almost never any lines, friendly people working there that know my boyfriend and I practically on a first-name basis, and they are open 24 hours to help you get your late night sugar fix. Keep up the quality work, Heavenly. You're doing great.

BULLSHIT PLACE!!!! For a 24 hour donut place and to not have much choices at 1145 am. Also staff that can't communicate in english well. DO NOT GO TO THE ONE ON MCLOUGHLIN!!!! Wish there was no stars, and then that would be too many!!!!!

I'm from out of town and hesitated about going in. Not the best looking place but now we've been twice because the doughnuts are, well, heavenly!

Decreeing Heavenly Donuts as "heavenly" might be a bit rich. But if my favorite, Annie's Donuts up on Sandy is not open, Heavenly Donuts will do in a pinch. When I paid a visit today in the late afternoon, there was a pleasingly wide range of donuts to pick from. Of course, I picked devil's food (with peanut sprinkles). The donut had a curious slightly marbled appearance. Was this intentional or just that the batter was not blended thoroughly? Regardless, the donut was nicely dense and moist but could have stood a deeper chocolate flavor. The girl at the counter was very sweet, which is apropos for a donut shop.

I think their donuts beat all for freshness and their jelly in the jelly filled are heaven.

These Heavenly Donuts were just what I needed after several beers around the bonfire last weekend. They're open late and the guy behind the counter was pretty tolerant of slightly intoxicated customers with indecisive ordering skills.

Donuts are very good but the customer service is so so. We waited at the counter while the employees argued back and forth...

I am a HUGE fan of donuts and have tried many kinds out there. Heavenly Donuts is definitely in my top five places to get a donut. There is no good donut place in Clackamas so when I am in the Heavenly Donut neighborhood, I don't pass up the chance to make a stop. The best time to go is in the early morning because that is when they are at their freshest. Their variety is sizable and they have most kinds that you can think of. I am a fan of maple bars, powdered and anything chocolate! Their prices are reasonable too with their "dozen" being fourteen donuts at $8.99 a box. Heavenly Donuts definitely lives up to its name!

They call it heavenly donuts, either cause the taste of the donuts either makes you feel like you are in heaven, or the donuts tastes like heaven in and of itself. God is good! This is my second fav donut shop in PDX. It's just regular ass American donuts served in a homely shop off 102nd & NE Glisan. I myself am not a huge fan of the post-modern novelty donuts, though they have quirky names, I can't get past the tummy aches. It's entirely my fault too, I'm old. Voodoo and Krispy I got much respect for, but late night after 7-8 beers that shit is a young man's game. I eat donuts about once a month. I love plain cake donuts. I don't like to rush, so I choose my donuts encounters very carefully. I like my plain cake donut and small black coffee with a side of 45 free min. I just wanna sit and chill and enjoy and chill. Digs: imagine a reg diner, kind dimly lit, but very clean. linoleum floor, linoleum floor, walk on it, walk all over you, fake wooden counter tops. I love it. Mellow brah. Service: Awesome. Super nice working class folks. Genuine. Hip waiters, though they have it down to a science, stress me out. I like relating to my fellow servers. Me and you, we are the same, just your on the clock, and I'm passing time. Thank you. Sometimes, people are rushy, and are quite rude. I'd expect that at Starbys, but c'mon man, I'm one dude, I am working as fast as I can. Yeah, rude people are not nice. Food: 1 plain cake donut , 1 small coffee please. I have also had the muffins. No flare, just freshly baked, regular ass donut. Inner peace.

I have been here way tooooooo much. I love donuts and Heavenly Donuts are amazing. I can never eat just one, or two, or even three. Main downside is that selection does vary and once they were even out of plain glaze.

I stopped in here on a whim because I happened to be driving by late at night, and I was pleasantly surprised. Nothing fancy about the place for sure, but the donuts were awesome. The fritters in particular are the the best I've had anywhere. Middle of the night seems like a good time to go there, by the way, because they were making the donuts and everything seemed very fresh - the guy came out to the counter from the back covered in flour so that's always a good sign.

It was donut shock moving to Oregon from California... after trying many donut shops that have received among the "highest" scores for donuts, I find that my taste is just not in line with the reviewers in general. So, it was with great delight that I happened to hear about Heavenly Donuts on 102nd Street a while back. The donuts are top notch, a very good glazed donut with the right amount of spring to the body of the donut and a glaze that is not too thick or too thin... they are not sticky, or hard, or flat... so, for me, a very good test of a good donut. The chocolate bars are okay, could be a little "lighter" in texture, but they are good. But, and I hesitate to share for fear they will run out the days they have them, the little cream puffs are truly HEAVENLY... Today, in fact, I am reserving a dozen since the day before yesterday one either very hungry or greedy person came in and bought 6 dozen before I could get one!!! There's a good donut store in Seaside too, a bar/bakery, but that is another story. Btw, I've tried Heavenly in Oregon City and it doesn't seem to have the same quality IMHO.

With a harsh limit set at only every type of donut you could ever want, it's no wonder why the store begs you to come back. "It's time to try this one..." If you are a fan of Krispy Kreme, the donut rings compare to almost equal strengths, but as "heavenly" as they might be, they just don't make a tasty treat quite as moist. That's the only reason I marked down one star. But as a VERY avid patron of the business, I would highly recommend stopping by and getting your own little taste of heaven!

Heavenly donuts single handily got me through college! The best part: Open 24 Hours! They have low prices, serve coffee and donuts all night long. They have good parking and a well lit building. They have a counter top and a few tables (perfect for pulling homework all nighters). The donuts are "old fashion good" nothing that will ever make them famous, but you wont be disappointed. Standard selection, no VooDoo weirdness. Its got that old school "mom and pop" feel to it. In a city with as much nightlife as Portland, its weird to find so few 24-hour joints. Lastly, for being a donuts shop, the coffee is surprisingly fresh, hot, and delicious!

If you want great old-fashioned donuts, this is the place to get them. Seriously delicious and fresh. Not much on the ambiance level but hey, it's a donut joint. Selection seems to be better earlier in the day. We stopped by one evening and there were fewer types of donut to choose from. Still, what we got was delish.

So... I don't like this donut place. And I have major sweet-tooth so that's saying something. The donuts themselves are okay. But when I ask for a donut off the fresh tray you just brought out and I get handed in I just seen sitting out, makes me not happy. If I'm craving donuts at 3am, ok fine, but other than that. I'll pass.

  • Rachael P.

Always fresh and delicious.... good prices too. My 3 fav donuts are: glaze twist, devil food with peanuts, and the cake with sprinkles. Each one has always been made to perfection. The glaze twist melts in your mouth and the cake donuts are fresh and flavorful. Always friendly service. So much better than Sesame Donuts (cheaper too).

This is one of the local donut places here in PDX. Driving past it the place looks somewhat like a hole in the wall, except for the big Heavenly Donuts sign. The inside of the store was clean and the cashier very friendly. They had a good stock of all their donuts on display. They have some unique donuts like the coconut crusted and of course the classic maple bar. The price is reasonable $9.99 for $14 donuts. The fonts are good tasty and not overly heavy. I have been here several times and my family likes the quality of donuts here. They also open 24 hours, kinda awesome.
