I noticed the low rating of the previous customers and it didn't jive with my experience. Then I realized why. The restaurant has new management. We went when there was almost no one there but the second time we went it was busier. The service is exemplary and was both times. The food is delicious. It tastes delicious and strikes me, as hispanic, as more authentic than most Mexican restaurants. The greens seemed fresh. The tortillas seemed fresh. The beans and rice were delicious and vegan friendly. The place doesn't look like much but I've had great experiences there. The drinks are well made and made by the servers, who are required to know how to make their drinks. At least that's what our server told us. I love these guys! And the drinks are really well priced. They have dancing and music on the weekend evenings. I'm not sure which days are what. Sundays are karaoke nights! Anyway, I love this place.

Like others have said, the fact that this restaurant was completely empty should have been a tip off! Seriously, it was dinner time yet there were zero customers. The salsa was bland. The food was bland and was barely warm. Waited approx 1 hour to even get our food, and when we finally did, it didn't all come out at the same time. I didn't get a refill on my drink. Also, the women's bathroom was nasty, out of three toilets one was missing a seat, one didn't flush at all, and one flushed halfway. We were charged incorrectly on the bill, and the waitress argued about it instead of just correcting it. On the plus side- the margaritas were good and so far nobody has come down with food poisoning...

Bleck! Oh, you wanted more? As soon as the "Now Open" banner appeared on this colorful building, I was there. And I was disappointed. The menu is extensive, and the salsa served with the chips is quite tasty, but thats where the good times stop. I tried this place twice, and each time my entree was bland, and underheated. Water glasses went unfilled the entire meal, and when it was all said and done, the lunch bill for two came to $22. About twice what it was worth if you ask me.

How horrible can you get? My god. Seriously. Stopped in on Father's Day because we wanted to grab a movie and weren't too keen on what to eat, just wanted something and it was on the way to the theater. I thought it'd make a good Yelp! review too. I should have been tipped off that the place was almost completely empty. This place used to be a PIetro's Pizza, as I understand it, back in the day. It would have stayed better off being an empty husk of a building. Maybe the service would have been better. We were seated instantly, at a half-booth/half-table sort of thing...it was pretty awful to be honest. We received a basket of chips and salsa and while I'll say that the salsa was actually pretty decent, being spicy without too hot, the chips were as stale as stale can get. STALE. STAAAAAAAAAAAAAAALE! I forget what my girlfriend ordered, but I know that all I ordered was a quesadilla and a beef taco and a beer. The beer came quickly. I drank all of it. Twenty minutes later I flagged down the waitress, who hadn't been back at all to check on us, and got another beer. My girlfriend, having worked at a Mexican restaurant in the past, was unhappy at the amount of time this was taking. Cheese between tortillas, it's pretty simple, for the quesadilla. And the place was pretty empty at the time. So we flag the waitress down AGAIN and ask her how long it's going to take. She comes back and says something along the lines of, the kitchen is busy and it'll be another fifteen minutes. Nope. It doesn't take forty five minutes to make this kind of food. We threw enough money on the table to cover the beers and left. I would be suspect of those five star reviews I see here. They smell more like Friends Making a Yelp! Account To Rave. They fooled us. Our experience was more in line with Erin's, but at least the money I paid for the beer was worth the product. Oh, and the mariachi music at full blast gets really old really fast.

If you're looking for a Tex-Mex experience, pass this by. It's about the mariscos (seafood) and a west coast Mexican bar experience. Order things like the ceviches, zarandeado, molcajetes, camarones (shrimp) in various sauces, etc. If I was being entirely honest, I'd give this 4 stars. But since Erin's review has so totally skewed this place's score, I'm going with 5.

This is my first Mexican restaurant experience in portland. The place was dead at 6:30pm...that wasn't a good sign. The good and bad The good - the salsa, Cadillac margarita and my octopus tostada. The hubs had the fajitas, he liked but tends to like more blander food than I, I thought they were ok. The chips were the most disgusting thing ever and same with the corn tortillas. Either they use old stuff or their frying grease is off. Service was fast because they were dead. I might try again for the octopus and margarita.

Mexican Cuisine

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.

Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.
