Ok, my take on Eastburn is a little out of sorts. I really want to like it, but I just don't think I'm ready to give in to it yet. I think this relationship is gonna take time, and I'm optimistic about that. I love the space. It's dark and kind of battered in all the good ways that a bar should be. Big booths, with brown paper and crayons (which is sadly exciting to me), and a small stage for the multitude of crappy/fantastic bands in the area (which, let's be honest, last night's band was of the crappy/fantastic variety). The local art for sale on the walls was pretty cool last night as well; some kind of retro-gothic portraits. Although our waitress was nice, she was pretty non-existant. After taking our orders the only other time she came to our table of her own accord was to serve our food. I had to flag her down for our check at the end of the night. To be fair, she seemed very busy; I never saw her standing around like the other waitress. I'm going to chalk it up to a busy night this one time. The food was...fuck I can't even find the word for it, deceptively amazing and terrible at the same time. We ordered the Trinity Fries (a mix of Russet and Sweet Potato fries topped with fried leeks and a side of Roasted Tomato Aioli), The Mackin' Cheese (Cavatappi pasta in a 4 cheese Cream sauce, sprinkied with bread crumbs) and the Organic Babay Spinch Salad (topped with Balsamic vinaigrette, Anjou pear, Pine nuts and Chevre) to share. The Trinity fries were really good for the first few bites, although I could have done without the fried leeks as they just got in the way. However, after several bites of them, the overwhelming amount of salt started to ruin them and very much turn me off of them. I'm pretty picky about things being over-salted, but when my tongue starts to burn from the excess salt, it's not just me being sensitive. I have to admit, though, that the Roasted Tomato Aioli was the bomb, they should definitely keep that component as is. The Mackin' Cheese, I was kind of in love with from the get-go. My friend was the one who ordered it, but after stealing a bite, I quickly decided that we needed to share all the dishes, and proceeded to mow down on the luscious creamy noodles like they were all mine. Thankfully, she didn't feel the same way about them as they were covered in bread-crumbs, which kind of ruined them for her. The salad was....a salad. Nothing spectacular, but nothing bad. I'm a big fan of spinach salads, and I appreciate the pears on top, especially when they are thin and still slightly crunchy, so that was a win there. However, it just seemed to be missing something. Onions? Olives? I dunno. It needed kicked up a notch, but altogether a decent item. The drinks were pretty promising, and one of the main reasons I'll be back, even if it's only for cockatils. I was craving a really big beer last night, and after veto-ing Prost for another day when I could really enjoy it in all it's glory, I was all set to order a nice cold Blue Moon standby. That was until I caught sight of the drink menu and the Kentucky Russian and changed my tune for the night. A new spin of a White Russian, with Bourbon?! It's like they knew I was coming or something. I'll always be a whisky girl. Don't get me wrong, I drink almost everything, and my vodka Gimlet is a favorite standby, but whiskey has my name. I think it's the tiny little piece of redneck in me from all those years growing up in Battle Ground, WA (shhsh!), well that and my afinity for country music sometimes (again, shhsh!). Either way, I was intrigued. My drink was the magnificent concoction of Bulleit Bourbon, clover honey, Bourbon Vanilla and half & half and it was full of win. I like white russians once in a while, but usually for dessert or as a means to get through a holiday dinner with the family. This was different and a nice change to the Kaluah/Vodka trainwreck that always seems to end with me passing out with my pie fork still in my hand. Overall, the place was decent. Not amazing, but definitely full of promise. I'm willing to take this relationship a little slow first before I chuck it. There's something about it that makes me think it will change for me, but like all bad romances, it's going to have some bumps here and there.

$2 pint night Tuesdays. .... $2 pint night Tuesdays ... Did you need another reason? Well that seems silly But $2 pint night Tuesdays are pretty ace, plus they always have a good beer selection on tap. And those trinity fries are good. So. $2 Pint night Tuesdays.

This place was fun. The swings were a cute touch. Food was great for other towns, by Portland standards kinda forgettable.

Not a bad little spot! It has mostly dining and lounging upstairs, and a full service bar downstairs. The bar is equipped with skee-ball and other arcade games which make for a fun evening with friends. The atmosphere makes me feel like I'm at a hometown pub. It's definately a locals spot. Nothing really fancy, but very fun. The prices are very modest and the drinks are well poured. I was pretty satisfied with this place. I would come back here with some buddies for a night out or to pre-funk before hitting the town!

I liked this place! Went here for brunch on a Sunday morning and were seated right away, on the back outdoor patio. The seats outside are swings, which just makes everything more fun. $2 mimosas make for a dangerous brunch time, and we had several! The brunch food was really good. After being there for a while I think we got ignored a bit and our server disappeared. She was friendly but I think service could be bumped up a bit. They weren't busy or anything. I would probably go back!

We had a pretty big party here over the weekend and the place was pretty great for it. the waitstaff was always on top of everything and pretty great. The prices are pretty reasonable, and they have great specials during the week. They have games downstairs, cool seating arrangements, and they have bands upstairs. I had some food that was meh, and the place was REALLY loud. I couldn't speak the next day because I was yelling at everyone the entire time. There are a lot of people there though, so it's nice for meeting people, and then just go somewhere else. Venue change bro, be the PUA manwhore you're meant to be ;)

In the past week I've gone here both for drinks (Portlandia premiere--holler) and brunch. My sense is that this place is a great deal if you take advantage of their crazy specials ($2 pints on Tuesdays, half off champagne on Saturdays, etc) and pretty expensive if you buy their drinks/food at menu price. Their pitchers were like $16, which is insane but they get bonus points for their arcade games in the tap room. As for brunch, it's about the same price as Cup & Saucer but you can get a meal with bottomless mimosas for $25. Seems expensive, but if you've ever had mimosas with brunch you know that getting a couple of those suckers adds up fast, so this is a pretty great deal if you're willing to throw down at noon on a Sunday. Since I was paying a quarter of a hundred bucks for the mimosa deal, I decided to get the most expensive brunch item on their menu--the lobster and crawfish Benedict ($12). It was hearty as hell, a little light on the seafood but decadent enough to make up for it. Screw hollandaise, these guys used moray sauce, which is basically frumpy cheese sauce. So good. And the bottomless mimosas refilled themselves sans awkward requests, which is a huge plus in my book. The only negative thing that I have to point out is that this place is not vegetarian friendly--so all you friends of fish and fawn are warned. Even the potatoes are cooked in duck fat.

Woah, how had I not been here before? This place is really one of my favorites. 1. The food has been great each time. Grover's Mackin' Cheese was a good portion and tasty meal. Also tasted the uber sondvich which was pretty interesting, lots going on. My favorite are the Trinity Fries, I wish I could just request an entire bowl of those sweet potato fries. 2. The employees are friendly, down to earth and helpful. I love a place that has good taste in employees. 3. The beer selection is varied and changes often, which makes it interesting each time. 4. Skeeball, heated and covered patio, and swing seats.

I am always so impressed with the service at EastBurn. They have great happy hour prices on a large selection of beers, and their food is delicious too. Last week a very large (and loud) group of us gathered on their patio during happy hour. While I don't think we were particularly rowdy or disruptive, I do know how difficult it is to manage a group of people that large. I have to say our server (Mike) was outstanding. He was incredibly nice, engaging, and so on top of everything the whole time. When we went to pay our bill, which I figured would be a nightmare, we were pleasantly surprised to get individual checks without even asking. I couldn't believe he kept track of everything we had ordered accurately, despite us changing chairs and tables on him multiple times! Anyway, I was incredibly impressed as usual with Eastburn, but even more so this time. Thanks to Mike for putting up with us!

Damnit East Burn, why are you making me DO this?! I went here last night and something very disturbing happened. Me: "so you need to see my ID?" Bouncer: "yeah"..."oh, and two dollars for the cover." Me: "cover?! Is there a band?!" Bouncer: "No." Me: "then....why :("* Bouncer: "two dollar beer night is a deal so you gotta pay the two dollar cover" Me: (broken) "OK. :'(" I understand that it's a hell of a deal to give these beers out for $2. But the very idea of a cover to go to a bar that's not a "status" bar...and has no live music. It just feels wrong. If East Burn was the only show in town doing $2 drafts on Tuesday, maybe I'd be more forgiving. To their credit, East Burn probably has the best selection/quality of beers you can get for $2....it also seems wrong that the cover is not really talked about or posted anywhere till you get smacked with it at the door. I'll still be coming back, but I'll be looking into trying out other places as well. Service here is still great as always. Sigh...the Lord giveth and He taketh away.... APPENDIX: Some math for you (I have this way cool program called Microsoft Excel, you've probably never heard of it): If you have one beer it's $4 draft night. If you have two beers it's $3 draft night. If you have three beers it's $2.666 draft night. If you have four beers it's $2.50 draft night. If you have five beers it's $2.40 draft night. As you approach infinity beers the price approaches $2 draft night again.* * I did not sound-out emoticons while conversing with the bouncer **I do not condone attempting this.

Came here because of the glowing Yelp reviews and I just don't get it: --Cocktails: WEAK. super-weak. also mediocre on the scale of creativity and variety. --Trinity fries: People, they are just french fries. Skin on and better than average, but I don't get what all the fuss is about. --Service: Friendly but slow. --Atmosphere: Loud, casual. Almost none. A bar with food. Fine, but nothing to compete with so many better ones in PDX.

Swing Seats. Fire pit tables. Decent beer selection. Yummy food. This sums up my short EastBurn experience, though there is plenty more to experience... the game room in the basement, the crazy happy hour prices. When I return, my Yelp review will grow.

This review is a review of this place for dinner. If I was rating it for drinks I would rate it much higher. (The place looks like a really great place to hang out). The service was excellent as well - can't complain about that. My issue is dinner portion size. I joined some friends here and decided to eat dinner. The server recommended the Steel Head which sounded wonderful. It was good - tasted fine - the problem was I paid $15 and got a tiny tiny piece of fish, maybe 1" x 4" all alone in the middle of a big plate on top of a "succotash" (which was good) and there was some type of creamed vegetable sauce. I watched giant burger and fry plates pass my table as my little bitty fish said - this is it - this is all you get to eat today - and my diet coke of course on the side. There was no bread offered, no side potato, no small dinner salad, nada. Folks - it doesn't cost you that much to put some organic greens on salad plate or maybe add some hearty vegetable on the side. I spent over $20 with the tip and while I am not dying of hunger I certainly can't claim full. For $20 I should feel like I ate a meal. You are a tavern. I expect your food to be hearty. This is not a frou frou french restaurant with over priced tapas - or at least it shouldn't be. My friends seemed to be very happy with their drinks - mostly beer and a server checked on us regularly. So for a drink place, a fun place to hang out, good service, I give you 5 stars. For dinner - well not so good. I like this place but you can do better on your food offerings.

Well, yes, it is a lounge. It is a very loud lounge with a large screen playing (at that time) the Simpsons. The service was rather good and quick. Even with the place stuffed up to the gills the waitress (who I never got the name of) was on top of things. All I wanted was a cheeseburger ($15) and coffee black as the night. She got it delivered even though she was balancing one other customer. There was butcher paper and crayons. It's rather different having a square shaped bun rather than the one in a circle but I was too hungry and tired to care. It is a swell place to drop by and spend money at.

This place has an awesome atmosphere, the food is good and the service is better. Overall wins: swing chairs on the patio, fire pit tables, board games for all upstairs, skee ball downstairs, stellar happy hour prices and a fish tank with a chill ass jellyfish to oggle at after a few adult beverages. Great place to go with a big group and play games like Apples to Apples, Trivial Pursuit or Hungry Hungry Hippos. Overall losses: appy's are a bit overpriced for the portion size, and I've heard there used to be a dance floor... I wish the remodel was more of an expansion. Came there with a few friends ready to dance my buns off after Hungry Hippos! Drink specials/happy hour is cheap downstairs, and the drink menu is sophisticated upstairs...the "Go-To" is my personal favorite. The bruchetta is good, but be prepared for more of a melted cheese on warm bread dish than a true bruschetta. Bonus: I accidentally left my debit card at the downstairs bar and tab open last time I was there, and they gave me no hassle having a friend pick it up for me. They kept it safe for a few days and I didn't find any unwanted charges on my tab. Two thumbs up guys! They did automatically charge me an 18% gratuity but I don't mind because they earned every penny.

We come here a decent bit. I like the food, vibe, and basement. I ordered a portobello sandwich, as I often do, but got the pork one delivered instead. They were super apologetic though so it's cool. It wasn't a big deal except we had to laugh because last time we were here, the same exact thing happened!! They must really want me to eat pork! We had such a great waitress though. Not only was my sandwich taken off our bill but we also got a card for a buy one get one brunch. Now that's customer service!!! This, and my fun and free birthday power hour, make East Burn one of our favorites in the rotation!

Went there for the free comedy night that plays every other Monday. Great comedians, friendly staff and good talks with new people. Wasnt too fond of the beer prices, but they are still average prices and have a good selection and some tasty unique beers. Ill be there again.

Last weekend, we went here for brunch on a Saturday. Brunch is relatively new for them and they have the Hop 'O Morning deal where for $25, you can get any brunch item + unlimited beer/mimosa. When the deal was $20, it was a good deal. For $25, unless you're really trying, it would be hard to make it worth it. They always have a good selection of beer, but the special/small pour beers aren't included in this deal. Also, you ARE allowed to switch beers, which surprised me. FOOD, on the other hand was a MAJOR disappointment. My crab/crawfish benedict didn't have a single redeeming factor. The egg on top was WAY overcooked (it was hard inside). The crabcake was fried so long that it had a tad burned taste on the crispy outside. The Fritata wasn't that flavorful at all. Let's face it, EastBurn is a bar who's trying to be more, they should stick to what they know best and either try harder on the food aspect or give up.

Being right in the middle of everything is always a plus. So is having elk-chili-rice-stuffed pepper, which came out pretty damn quick. Rice was a bit overdone but not enough to keep me from getting this again. And again. Bartender was friendly and helpful enough, beer selection solid, and some skee-ball in the basement. Boom! I also like how they do random shit like showing the presidential debates and having an Irish-ish band on Wednesday night. I also lost my virginity here*. *Pending

Loved this place! We went to the downstairs bar for an Oacars party. It was rad to say the least with Oscar trivia, lots of tvs and seating areas. Food was awesome as was the porter on tap. Everyone was so friendly as well. Made the trip to that side of town worth it.

I like brunch. But I despise and abhor waiting in line for brunch. That's why I dig on some EastBurn for weekend vittles. I almost always get the breakfast sandwich, which I slather in Aardvark sauce and snatch up $2 mimosas that are just colored with OJ for the fun of it. I do all this without having to put my name on a fucking list or wait for more than an hour. I've got crap to do, after all. This past Sunday, the place was almost all ours at 1:30 p.m., the tap list was really good for my hubs, and my delicious sando was tasty as usual. The man's corned beef hash, however, could have used less grease and more time crispin' up to perfection on the grill. But overall, EastBurn continues to make my line-hating self happy. Oh, and you can sit in a swing and swig your morning beverage of choice, which is also happiness inducing.

  • Misty S.

My husband and I had been hearing about this place from several of our beer loving friends, so we decided we had to check it out for ourselves. We were not disappointed. The taplist is great and the food is delicious. I mean, you're ordering regular pub food, right? No. Well sort of. The burger had herbs throughout and was a massive hand slapped patti! When a burger is done right, it brings a tear to my eye. Just saying. One of these days I'm just going to have to start a "Burger List". There are so many good ones in Portland and this one has registered on my radar. Another weakness of mine is calamari. I will have EastBurn's calamari again! A mountain of tender pieces in light cornmeal (?) batter. But that's not all. They have to go the extra mile by tossing some cilantro and peppers into it. Yummm... I should not write these things when I'm hungry! Anyway, great happy hour specials, $2 Tuesday, and don't spend too much time writing on the chalkboard in the bathroom... I might be waiting in line. Thanks :)

$2 beers on Tuesdays Brewers food/beer dinner pairing events Hammock chairs Build your own bloody mary Sunday brunches Definitely some great events that are a lot of fun and hard to beat. Plus a basement that has ski ball and a fun atmosphere.

This place never disappoints. They are a combination of a beer bar and fine dining all in one awesome place. Plus if you would like to dance your ass off... head downstairs on the weekend and they almost always have a Dj... upstairs has music throughout the week as well from various local artists. The food here is to die for. My favorites are definitely the calamari, uber, burger, salmon, pot pie, stk salad, who am i kidding its all amazing. The real reason for this review is the BEER BELLY DINNERS. 5 coarse dinner and beer pairing always featuring a different brewery. The brewery sends over a brewer and the chef does a tasting with them. They sit and drink different beers that said brewery would like to feature for the dinner. Then have a little brain storming session to figure out what foods would compliment the beer. I have been to 9 or 10 of them now and have never found a better price for a five coarse, five beer meal then the $40 they charge. Not only that but the proceeds go to local charities that the brewery chooses. This place is amazing from to to bottom. Never get bad service... Always something new to try on tap... and I haven't even gotten to the brunches or lunches they do. Do yourself a favor and go to EastBurn and find out for yourself. Thank you guys for always being amazing and really putting your profits back into this community. I LOVE THE EASTBURN!!!

  • Don B.

There are two words you need to know about Eastburn (and if you don't already, you must be hiding under a rock): $2 Tuesdays. If you love beer, this is the place to be on Tuesdays. Any time of the day. Why? Because Eastburn has a great beer list filled with fun micros, and all day Tuesday they're $2. As many as you want. As an associate of mine mentioned last night when he picked up a round "don't worry about it, these are pretty much free." Yeah, seriously. Beers that range from 5-8% or even higher on occasion for $2? Honest pints? Of honestly quality micros (not even the big name micros either)? Yeah. If you're still contemplating whether this is a good deal, you need counseling. Of course if you spend enough Tuesdays here, you may need counseling and a sponsor... but I digress. It wouldn't be fair to say that's the only thing going for Eastburn, because it sure as hell is not. In fact, depending on your choice of Poison (mine happens to gravitate toward hoppy micros), Eastburn has specials going pretty much every day of the week. Plus they have pretty damn good food and a really cool bar to hang out in. Or, I should say, bars, since the upstairs houses a bar and a more restaurant-y area, and the fun room downstairs has a whole different set of taps, skee-ball, TV's, and is much more bar-y and laid back. The covered and heated patio out back kills it with a smoking area, fire pits, and sweet swing-chairs. Honestly, I could hang out here any night of the week, but it's too obvious for me to go on Tuesdays where I can knock back tasty ales for a pittance and snack on a heaping plate of Trinity fries (sweet potato fries, russet fries and fried leeks). These guys make some scary good fries. Sure, I could probably find beers for $2 or less at other bars on any given night of the week, but it's likely to be swill like PBR or similar, and while there's a time and place for that kind of beer, to get micros that would normally run in the $5 range for less than 1/2 off, well, that's a steal in anyone's book.

I've been here a couple times off and on over the past few years and the service has always been great. My last visit the staff at East Burn really outdid themselves. My friends and I switched tables about 3 times, asked about everything on the menu, and in general kept the servers hopping. The response was unbelievably accommodating! Add that to an excellent selection of brews on tap, including a really nice summer lager, their outrageous trinity fries, the smoked trout on portabella, *and* smoker friendly back patio, it was a great evening! Thank you EastBurn

I work Tuesday nights, dammit. I love $2 Beer Tuesdays. I work Tuesday nights, dammit. I had one Tuesday night off and took my wife here for late night happy hour 10-Close. I regret it now. Why? Because now I know what I am missing, dammit. We had 3 apps and 4 beers for under 20 goddam dollars, dammit. Just skip the elf sliders. They are dry and kinda gross. I would frequent Eastburn every Tuesday, but I work. DAMMIT. DAMMIT all to hell.

I recently moved to the neighborhood from the other side of the river (woohoo!) and a couple weeks ago decided to walk around and check out all the new places for me to eat and drink at. Before I knew it I had been walking for what felt like hours and was famished. I didn't know much about EastBurn other than the menu looked good, and it was close enough that I could make it without passing out, so I went and had a seat at the bar. I had a glass of the rose (which was excellent) and the steak salad. YUMMM. It had basically all the ingredients you'd expect in a steak salad, but each individual one was prepared perfectly: the steak was cooked just right, lots of cheese, pickled onions, roasted tomatoes, some crispy bacon bits...I don't think there was a single crumb left at the end. The bartender was also very friendly and attentive; unfortunately I forgot his name. I came him again yesterday with my husband for some happy hour food. More deliciousness: we ordered the tuscan bean dip, the burger and fries, a salad, and the goat cheese and kale dip. While I was not quite as blown away by the happy hour food as I was by that steak salad, I'm not complaining either! Also, EastBurn serves generous portions, both for dinner and for happy hour. What did wow me on this last visit was the service. Very friendly without being pushy and also timely - traits that are hard to come by in the average Portland server (in my opinion). Again, I did not get her name, but I wish I had. I ordered the cider and she brought me a taste first because she said it was unusually dry for a cider. The small gesture was much appreciated. She even brought us boxes for the food we did not finish (I know this is not usually allowed for happy hour food, but we ordered WAY more than we could have finished). Small things, really, but they added to the enjoyment of everything. Consistent, friendly, and yummy food and drink - what more could you ask for? I'll be back.

Wow. They do seafood right. More than a bar, and more than they're fine, but small house-brewed beer, EastBurn is quintessential PDX - skeeball, beer, and gourmet food! I had the lobster mac, which had shrimp and crawfish to boot. Large, delicious moist chunks of seafood did the Little Mermaid down my gullet mixing with the cheesy, gooey goodness of the mac. Mmm. The lady had the Steelhead and corn grits. Growing up in Hell's Canyon, I vouch, this prehistoric fish was wonderful

Good place. Plenty of seating options- outside in the front of the restaurant, inside where its air conditioned, downstairs (which is a bit sketchy), and on the patio where everyone's really drunk. I sat out front initially but drunk smokers really ruin the atmosphere so inside is really the best option, especially with younger kids. The food is really, really good. Considering its a bar, it's even more impressive. One of the vegetarian options, the ciabata portabella mushroom and potato sandwich served with either a salad or fries, is excellent. It is not at all greasy and is made with the finest, organic ingredients. The fries are handmade and served with organic ketchup made by locally owned "Portland Ketchup Company." It is very light food actually; I left the bar still able to walk comfortably. They added a bit extra on the "service charge" at the end considering we were just dining and had no drinks but other than that the experience was nice. Can't say much about the drinks but I assume they're a big hit judging by the number of people "having fun" in the bar...

EastBurn made Yahoo's list of Best Grilled Cheese Sandwich in the country. Best in Portland is quite an accolade, but the country? That melt better be orgasmic bliss. Although it didn't generate that reaction (as did Atlanta's Buckhead Diner's version), this sandwich was very good, especially for $5 off the Recess (Happy Hour) menu. There's nothing too notable about it, and it's even kinda small, but it's better than most I've tried. I suppose what would raise it a notch would be to add something interesting, e.g., tomato jelly, rather than boring sliced cold tomatoes. The real treat in visiting EB for the first time is that I also experienced the Fritters, also $5. Now those were a WOW! EastBurn is now on the brain as one of those places where I can say, "they have the best _____" The spinach and pine nut salad will also be a re-order. I did not enjoy the Warm Embrace drink, but it's probably just not my thing. The servers were very kind and accomodating. Cool place.

I have been to Eastburn a number of times for drinks, but just recently I went there for dinner. I love the atmosphere, the games, the patio, the swings! Their food was delicious and unique! This is a great place to stop in for a drink, go on a date for dinner, their brunch looks great, even though I have not had it yet. They have different daily specials and something going on every night from live music to trivia to movies. I will be back again!

Nice seasonal menu, but I really miss the elk meatloaf with spaetzle - that was phenomenal. The rabbit one is ok - not as awesome, though. I really haven't had a bad dish. The brunch menu could probably use some work, though. The rest of the regular menu has some good stand out dishes, but there's not really anything remarkable about the brunch menu. They do have a really great rotating tap selection up in the main dining room, with a bit more going on downstairs at the lounge area. They have a nice patio outside - kind of a courtyard, really.

I met a friend there tonight to look over resumes and update LinkedIn profiles while partaking of the grilled cheese sandwich that they are now uber-famous for. (Wanted to show my support for a restaurant owner that fought back clean on a sexist Yelp review -- now removed -- and because proceeds from the grilled cheeses benefit a local domestic violence shelter this month.) We both really enjoyed our grilled cheeses and hot teas, but we had to take them out to the front seating because there were a BUNCH of reserved tables taken up in the main dining area. They are also busy this week because they participate in Burger Week (a big deal here), so I didn't expect a LOT of space to be available at 6 PM, but 5 reserved tables seemed a bit much... I would have had a 1/2 price pint because it's Tuesday (Yay!) but had forgotten my ID (my fault), and I wasn't overly stoked with the selection. Totally affordable, great back 'patio', and different location than people usually go to in this town make it a good choice most days! PS - the grilled cheese is even better because of bacon, so I don't know how many vegetarians I would bring here... But meat lovers will like it!

I'm giving East Burn a high five! The food was great, the atmosphere was comfy and the service was also great, which is amazing as lately I've experienced a trend of slow, poorly timed service here in PDX. I need a few minutes to look at the menu doesn't mean don't come back until 20 minutes later and a super slow kitchen sucks too. East Burn had none of these issues. The server was very nice and efficient, the food was tasty. My boyfriend and I split the Uber sandwich, a decadent treat made of pork loin, potato pancake, fruit chutney and some other goodies. It was excellent. We also split the fried calamari, which was very flavorful. We had asked if they had any tartar sauce, the server found out too late that they could do it for us, but perhaps on a future visit. It was still a very enjoyable appetizer. Drinks were good, the place is small and was fairly crowded, but still seemed home-y on a rainy Portland night. We'll be back!

I'm shocked that it was not as good as the reviews said. We both ordered house cocktails and they were not very good. I have had way better else where. I wanted to try the brie, but they ran out, so I asked for pretzels and we had to wait 15 minutes until 4. Apparently that's when they serve them. They pretzels were, Ehh and cheese sauce not great. Are first service was kind of cold, but the one who closed us out was nice. We won't be back! Disappointing!

Nothing special in terms of atmosphere, but the food and drinks were good. My fish was especially high quality for a bar, and the staff was attentive.

East Burn is a perfect combination of laid-back bar, and five star restaurant food. Their upstairs restaurant has delicious food that you wouldn't normally find at a bar. I've eaten rabbit meatloaf here before and it was unforgettable! The service is always great and their menu is always changing with new and creative dishes. Downstairs is where the fun begins. I love that they have skee ball for only a quarter! They also host a killer trivia along with many other fun, quirky events. East Burn's happy hour is one of my favorite! $3 off cocktails! That is almost unheard of. It is such a great deal. And of course the trinity fries are a must. Potatoes, sweet potatoes, and leeks all fried and served with a creamy dipping sauce?! Yes! My only complaint is that the music is usually too loud in the bar, but the seating is intimate so you can usually hear the group you are with. Great go-to date night or casual hang out.

What a delightful little spot. Butcher paper tables with crayons for all and swings on the patio. Grown up recess. We came just as the music was getting started one saturday night and found a favorite new Portland chick rock band in the form of The Vandies. They were awesome. As were the trinity fries--a blend of fried russets, sweet potatoes, and leeks. Fried freaking leeks. It was served in a bowl so large I thought we couldn't possibly make a dent in it, buuuuut...we ate the whole thing. I think that was possible because where normally you might get bored of the same old fried flavor, your palate got fun little breaks of leeks and sweet potatoes to mix it up.

We arrived for dinner early enough to get in on happy hour. Which was only moderately different in price than normal. They have their "special cocktails" for half price. All others are normal. Meaning just a well drink is normal price. Wheeee! Happy... Service was ok. Food below: White bean spread. It seemed like hummus in a little cup. The grilled bread that came with was good. Small portions. Beef Wellington. Wow. That was a Sizzler quality steak wayyyy overcooked and tough while managing to stay a bit red in the middle. Gordon Ramsay would not be pleased. The flavors were dull and lifeless. The sauce and "sides" small and also dull. Not worth the 20 bones. At least the pastry crust was prepared correctly. Lobster mac and cheese. Tough bits of lobster like substance. Boring flavor profile. This seems to be a hip-ish dish right now. Had better. Meh. Full of hipsters and because it was early full of hipster children too. Wasn't horrible but I wouldn't go back.

The food was good! The service was good! The vibe was good! There were swing chairs. I would recommend it, and I will definitely go back for more. Went for happy hour. Had the cheese and kale dip with grilled focaccia, the portabella sandwich with fries, and the calamari.

East Burn is the perfect combo of laid back beer-by-the-pint joint and cool-casual restaurant. It just might single handedly keep my marriage afloat because it is one of the few places that both my husband and I can spend an evening and be equally happy. My husband can get $2.50 microbrew pints (Tuesdays) and I can have a nice meal that is more upscale and interesting than pub burgers and tuna melts. Make sure to check out the whole place (including out back) before picking a table. There are lots of cool options for seating.

    (4)
  • Katy G.

Excellent outdoor patio. Delicious food, especially the Grovers Mac and the Grilled Cheese! Yum. I love coming to 2.50 micro Tuesdays. You can't beat the ever rotating tap lists. The service is friendly and consistent. Kandice is particularly wonderful, going so far as chasing me all the way down the street when I forgot my credit card. Above and beyond for sure. I'm so impressed.

  • Sienna M.

Love this place. Really good food and beer selection, but it's the service that's really remarkable. Also, there's a really funny comedy show downstairs every other Monday that's reliably awesome. (Ooh, and they have games too, including Battle Pacman)

  • Kevin J.

Great local beer selection. I got the pork tenderloin and my girlfriend got the lobster mac n cheese. The pork tenderloin was quite good, but nothing too impressive. I'd probably get something else if I went back. My girlfriend's mac n cheese wasn't very cheesey, but the lobster was quite good. I'd like to go back to see the tap room downstairs where they have skee ball. My favorite part of this place was the awesome wicker chairs hanging from the ceiling that you could (and we did) sit in.

I must start this review by saying that my experience was so close to being five stars, but the band playing was so dang loud that we had to scream our faces off across the table to hear each other, which was sad because we were with friends we really wanted to catch up with. The band was incredible and had this amazing fiddler, but they were way, way, way too loud. Anyway, aside from that, the food was epic. I went with the beef wellington, and we had a couple others at our table order the steelhead, which was also damn good. It was a little embarrassing how fast I ate my dish, but I couldn't help it. It was perfect. Many great beer and drink options, too. I went with their delicious sidecar cocktail with the lemon and sugar rim, mmmm. I want this meal all over again right now! But be warned, dinner is only served until 10 p.m., and then they just have a limited menu after.

Went here for my birthday dinner/drinks. I did read the menu beforehand and planned on ordering a bunch of appetizers for dinner since they only had one dish that was vegetarian. The appetizers were so small and honestly not very good. The fries with the aoli sauce were okay. The aoli sauce had no flavor, the bean dip was okay not a lot of flavor. The drinks were actually pretty decent, but EXPENSIVE. The patio rocks. Just had an okay time. Prob won't make the trip from Beaverton to specifically go there.

LOVED this place. The food was awesome for brunch.....no lines on a Saturday. They have a fantastic patio in the back with actual swings to sit in. $2 mimosas if you buy a brunch item. The Lobster crawfish bennie was amazing. The server, and everyone who worked there was so friendly. I had taken my daughter there while she was visiting from out of town and I was so happy to "represent" Portland so perfectly. Funky, friendly, awesome. One of the guys even went out of his way to show me the downstairs bar even though it was closed so I could see it before I come back next time. Next time will be often and soon. Don't miss this super cool place.

If you want a place to go for happy hour, I would recommend EastBurn. My girlfriends and I had a great time here. Atmosphere is really nice. We sat in the back patio area, which is great even in the cold months because of the heated lamps and fire. The swing chairs add a nice little touch. Cute little place for a date or an evening with the girls. The food here, however, is just average. Not bad, but not great either. Drinks are great though!

The swings are fun. The food is okay. The drinks are average. Good atmosphere and friendly staff. Despite the average review, I still think this is a good date spot.

Mmmm Beer! This thought always crosses my mind when I walk through the door. Not one, but two awesome rotating taplists, one upstairs and one downstairs. We also check the upstairs list first and then head downstairs before making up our mind. Currently my fav place in Portland and where we take our friends from out of town because we can count on good service, good food and reasonable prices. I love that they try to buy local and organic as much as possible and I think the chef change has served them well. If you ever see chili on the menu, it is a must try. Also a must have and always on the menu are the trinity fries. Mmmm! A mixture of regular and sweet potato fries with leeks and an aoli sauce. Not healthy in the slightest, but soooo delicious! It looks like the favorite deal is $2 pints on Tuesdays (which is a deal for the beer on tap), but my favorite is the $10 pitchers on Mondays with the bucket of steamers. The events are great and more often than not go to support a good cause. Last night we checked out the Brewers for Boobs. This is the second beerfest we have attended there and it is a deal, $10 for 6 pours, remaining pours $1 each and a real pint glass and this was a benefit! Oh and did I mention they have swings????

I went here recently for the Shanrock's Pub quiz night. It was my first time at East Burn and it was great! The upstairs restaurant is very cool--modern, romantic, trendy. The downstairs if for the "fun." There's a bar and big screen TV and games like skeeball. The food was pretty amazing. We ordered the elk sliders (delicious!), a spinach salad (lovely dressing) and the mac n' cheese with bacon. All of the food was really good and reasonably priced for happy hour. I will most definitely come back to this place!

  • Ame P.

My fondest memories have always been in the downstairs bar. Its like a little hidden gem. Most people get suckered in by the cool woven hanging chairs in the main restuarant and stay upstairs (hah! Silly fools!) while the real fun is downstairs. And by real fun I mean the ski ball game! The bar is well stocked and they have a good selection of brews available. It can get kinda slammed so you always meet interesting characters here! The food is pretty tasty too if fooding is what you're after. The best thing about EastBurn is that there is a little something for everyone. From the hanging chairs, to the restaurant to the patio to the bar, you can find your place here!

Pretty cool bar. Nice touch with the live music upstairs and the mini arcade downstairs. It's nice to have two separate experiences under one roof. Staff is friendly and beer selection good. I like it and will definitely visit again when I'm back in Portland.

Oh EastBurn you are becoming one of my favorite places! Free comedy shows on the 1st and 3rd Monday of the month, frequent live music, and $2 pints on Tuesday nights. Not to mention the ability to channel your inner school child and swing your way through dinner. Yes, I admit it I love the swinging chairs. Food is pretty good, really like the pork sandwich with grilled onions, potato patties and apple bacon. It's delish. Great selection of beer and they also currently have a summery Apricot Cider that is my new favorite drink!

Late night cheap eats! We came starving and ordered the aioli fries, calamari, sausage, and brie plate! We couldn't finish it...Delicious and great beer/drink selection. I like the upstairs/downstairs aspect, which gives you two different scenes in one location. I am excited to come back and try their brunch. Very relaxed staff, mellow consumers, and soccer on the tv.

I loved my experience at EastBurn. The place is cozy, its funky, its different, its fancy and its not fancy all at the same time. I know, I suck at painting an image, but just bear with me here. Yelpin' aint easy. The decor is simple and has the low-lighting kinda of mood. The tables are covered with brown paper (disposable) and each table has 4 colored crayons. No its not just for children. No its not just decoration. Yes you should use the crayons and draw cool things with your friends while you booze up on beer and wine. We colored the crap out of the table and felt like awkward 11 year olds, but it was definitely fun. The menu was small but each item was original and sounded freaking fantastic. One friend ordered the burger, another the lamb meatloaf with gnocci and I got the chicken pot pie. My chicken pot pie was anything but traditional- It was deconstructed into thick pieces of chicken, butternut squash, potatoes and veggies. The sauce on top was light (not heavy-cream like the old school pot pie) and there were 2 pieces of phyllo bread on top to replace the crust on the top/bottom of the pie. The meal was comforting and tasty but not heavy on the fat and carbs that the chicken pot pie we grew up with has. My friend's lamb meatloaf and gnocci was fantastic and my friend's french fries were crispy and lightly salted. Finally, our server was super fun and awesome to us.. even when she had to wait until we finished our weird art before she put the plates on our table. The beer selection is good and for a Friday night, our wait was not long. Great experience, would definitely return and bring new people to try it out.

Sunday brunch. Waited for six minutes before anyone acknowledged us. No, "hey, someone will be with you as soon as we can.". Just eye contact avoidance. I'm a waiter, I know what that looks like and when it's happening. Whatever. "Lobster and crawfish Benedict" was not good. Two quarter size pieces of rubbery lobster and 3 pieces of crawfish. Literally. The potato pancakes served under the eggs were soggy. I guess no one wanted to drain the poached eggs which were a little above room temp and cooked past medium. The hollandaise sauce melted into the watery egg and become a flavorless nothing due to the small amount of sauce. Toast was cold. Pat of butter served on side did not melt. And trust me, my fat ass butters my toast ASAP just to make sure it melts. No go.

Funky, irreverent and totally Portland, Eastburn is a nice drinking establishment that serves up some pretty decent food. We're talking burgers, sandwiches, fish n chips type of grub. This is more appropriate for younger peeps than myself, but everything they do, they do with a sense of fun.

Eastburn's got some good things going for it, including an awesome patio with hanging swingy seats, great $2 Micros deal on Tuesdays, and a couple of excellent servers. But it's also got some less-than-great aspects, too, including hit or miss food, neverending line for the bathroom and to order from the bar, and a really strange, fluctuating crowd. First, the food. Having tried many of the items, it's somewhere between Meh and A-ok. Last time we were in, we tried the fries (russet and sweet) topped with fried leeks. Russets and sweets were ok, fried leeks were wretched. The polenta was in dire need of salt, but the olive tapenade it came with was plenty salty, so combined, it was pretty good. People raved about the crispy calamari. While I've eaten more there, honestly, those were the only things that were even memorable. Drinks- stick to beer. Cocktails and straight booze are unfortunately too expensive for their small size. Pretty sure my bourbon pours were barely an ounce over about 6 oz ice. Our server for the last UYEPT was awesome, she really took care of us, and while it sometimes took a few reminders and 15+ minutes to get drinks, we were quite a large group, and I'm sure the bartender was backed up also. Really nice and cheerful, though, engaging in our silly banter and not even getting annoyed at Swing Wars, which is completely irresistible and unavoidable. The crowd is funny. It's quieter and somewhat sleepy on the back patio during happy hour, but gets pretty rowdy as the night rolls on (as is normal anywhere). The basement is typically populated with a crossbreed of hippies and frat boys. Think puka shells and cargo shorts with Widespread Panic t-shirts. Last time we were in the basement on a Friday night, we were definitely the oldest people there, feeling a little fuddy-duddy among a very young crowd. The skeeball is a fun idea, but when that basement is full, good luck trying to get even close to it. As we were wrapping up UYEPT the other night, a bridge and tunnel crowd in stillettos and bringing a nearly-visible cloud of CkOne with them started rolling in, just around the time Eastburn posts a doorman out front. Ummm, hey guys... you know this place is no longer Nocturne, right? All in all, it's an ok place to grab a brew, especially during the screamin' deal on Tuesdays (Hell-oooo, Dandelion!), and they do have a great tap selection. I'll stick to earlier hours there, rather than later though. Too loud, crowded, and BCBG Girls later at night for this reviewer.

I had the Ultimate French Toast with chantilly cream, house preserves and (real!) maple syrup. The bread pudding french toast was good, but not the best I've had, and the portion was small for $9. The house preserves were my favorite. The bf had the Ebleskiver, little pancake balls, filled with blueberrys. They were disappointing, not very much flavor. And for $9, a tiny portion. Everything was good enough to eat, but not good enough to go back. Our service was lacking for there only being 3 tables mid Saturday. I probably won't be back.

Lobster mac & cheese that includes whole pieces of claw meat?! Now THAT'S a restaurant that takes their food and their customers seriously. Great atmosphere too, although I feel like they need to cool it with all the different light fixtures.

Stopped in after dinner at the Screendoor- place was pretty packed. Found a spot out back in their cozy covered patio area. They have cool swing chairs and tables with little fire pits. My drink was strong and the service ok. Looks like a local hangout. If I were a smoker this would be a pretty cool ass patio to kick it in and get my drink on.

East Burn needs to figure out what it is. Is it a nice restaurant charging $17.00 and entree? Is it a hipster bar with a cool hang out factor? Is it a sudo-sports pub? It tries to be all three and so achieves none.

The hubs and I came across this gem whilst searching for a place to get our zombie fix. Sunday nights are notoriously lazy, and this was no different, but tonight I had a plan. I swooped in on a booth that was being reset, with . We started with calamari, which were well-seasoned, crispy and delicious. I ordered the rabbit meatloaf with gnocchi, while the man had a giant pork chop with an apple bourbon glaze (I think?). My meatloaf was tasty, and once I added some salt the flavors came together nicely. The chop was perfectly cooked, pink and tender in the middle. The jus covering the fingerlings was finger-licking good. We finished our dinner with time to spare before the show started, and had another beer. Hoorah for TWD on the big screen! Also, our experience was enjoyable and we'll probably go back. For zombies!

Update: Free Birthday Power Hour will be discontinued after this month. I'm honestly very surprised that this is their response to ONE poor review, because from searching other reviews, nobody else has complained about getting shafted on their birthday. Incidentally, I would also like to point out that nobody else called it the Birthday Power Hour nor mentioned a form, though they did say to call at least 1 week to 1 month ahead -- which we did. We were totally over it the next day, since it was just a little mishap and we still had a relatively good time that day, but it just brings up more disappointment the way the staff is handling this so defensively and putting the blame back on the customer for not "taking the time to find out and follow the rules to our offering." We clearly called a week in advance as advised, but whoever it was that picked up the phone dropped the ball, and that's totally forgivable. What's not forgivable is how the situation was handled thereafter. I still think EastBurn seems to be a great place to hang out and I still really want to like it and give it another chance so that I could write a positive review. If you look at my history, you can see that I don't write many negative reviews, and only when I have to. I much prefer to HELP businesses with Yelp, not hurt them. In my opinion, I think the best and most appropriate response would've been a public apology and a public clarification of the rules, especially regarding the form (perhaps mention it on the website, since it's not there?). Then we would be more apt to give EastBurn another chance, and change this review for the better. P.S. I also apologize profusely for all birthdays in July and onwards that you won't be able to take advantage of this great offer due to one poor review. I didn't expect this kind of defensive response. Hopefully you'll still be treated well on your birthday!

Tuesday is the night to go if you like Microbrew deals, though that day they are too busy to offer sample tastes. No big deal, since Pints are just $2.50 (YES NEW TUESDAY PRICE FOR 2013, with specialty Taps usually over $5) just order something in your usual happy range of flavors. There is an entirely separate list of Craft Brew downstairs, and you can leave your Card for Payment with a Staffer and order at either row of Taps, then just remember to sign out when you leave. 2011 update: On $2.50 nights brews over 8% ABV are still over $4. I think all Brews could really still be $2 for those of use showing our Bus transfer! Other folks might like whiskey Wednesdays or Wine discount nights, or prefer quiet dinner evenings...since the food is excellent. Good Chef, who offers occasional 2nd Thursday Beer Belly Dinner events. NEW in 2013: CLUB Members get a sandwich and Wine or Beer on MONDAYS for $10...ask me for a referral so I get Club credit. NOTE: The Power Hour Birthday deal is BACK for 2012!! But it's now a LOTTERY...with 0 of win or lose after 6 months of entering...do this by going to FB and sending a message with your B-day and phone number, name ect. I think it's a rather mysterious black hole way to get us to Like their FB page, myself....but worth trying if Friends win and INVITE ME! The schedule of music used to only appeal more to a younger set than most of my friends...who don't have enough experience to DEMAND LIVE MUSIC, This year - things have taken a turn for the better, band offerings include Jug-band relaxed-ness. Good thing for this place, IMO. Even Tuesday - when there's no live music, do not hesitate to bring (or make) earplugs so you can indulge in fun rooms - for many more years - without carrying a giant hearing horn. Check the Menu online before you make plans, and make sure all members of your group can afford the food if that's the plan. i think the $10 Burger with Salad is excellent - and worth it, particularly on $2.50 Pint Tuesdays. I often stop in at the Greek Deli on my in way there...now under new Ownership - so it's time to check it out again. It's just West, across the street, very mellow, and a hunk of rich melt-in-your-mouth Moussaka WAS only $5. Hope that still have it, and are open Tues after 6. Will try to let you know.

PROS: Everyday of the week there is some sort of drink special going on. Yesterday was my first time to EastBurn and low and behold it was $2 Tuesday! The bartender on the main level Erik was super helpful in making my selection. The Cranberry Galgamesh beer was DELICIOUS! And for $2 you can't beat that. The Vanilla Stout they had wasn't too shabby either. It was nice to be able to watch the blazer game and the place didn't start getting super crowded until 9pm. The downtsairs area was small but decent. CONS: Overpriced and not so tasty food. I ordered the calimary and trinity fries. The fries were so, so salty! I could barely eat them. They were also quite soggy and the aioli that came with it was was too garliky for my taste. The calimary was cooked ok, but again salty. What the heck!? Calimary - $9, Fries - $7. A bit spendy if you ask me. Overall good little place. I'd come back for another drink special!

I count Eastburn as one of my favorite places to get a burger on the Eastside. Slow Bar is sooo last year, and to be honest I don't eat a whole hell of a lot of red meat save for when i'm in the mood (i'll let you guess--it's once a month and i'm always craving iron) so my basis for burger comparison is next to nil. But i'll tell ya. 9/10 times i'm here, the melty, medium-well done hunk of meat with the juices seeping into the bottom of the ciabatta bun are, well......heavenly. Makes me miss eating red meat all the time. The bacon and aged cheddar are the best companions for this meat party. I SO wish they'd re-think their "house salad" option, though. The measly, wilted baby letttuce and spinach leaves with too many cherry tomato halves thrown in hardly counts as a salad, and whichever dressing you choose always over-powers the salad and makes it soggy. They need to get some crisp, hearty romaine up the place to stand up next to their awesome burger. Or at least some non-nutritional-but-extremely-crunchy iceburg lettuce. SOMETHING. Really, that wimpy ass salad. It almost makes me want to skip the burger, since I badly want a salad to accompany my burger and it always disappoints. "But what about the Trinity Fries?!" you say? Yes, the Trinity Fries are the jam. Those crispy-fried leeks with the toss up of sweet and russet natural-cut fries are delish, 'specially with the aiol (and I HATE mayo!), but I can't even split a whole order with a friend. Too much starch. And the service. It doesn't suck, but it's not great. I've been downstairs, upstairs in the dining room, and sat at the bar (which I prefer), and neither of those times has been super service-attentive. For instance--Saturday night, we were there...............the bartender was very nice but kept forgetting about us. Even with a half-full bar. Asked for waters and he clearly forgot, until he was done helping other patrons and glanced over at us, only to scramble for two glasses of water we'd asked for ten minutes ago. Meh. I do like this place. I mean, SKEEBALL, for god's sake. They just need to improve on a few things.

This review will be updated as soon as I go and eat more food there. We dropped in for the yelp HH event. and it happened that it was $2 tuesdays. (which I couldn't remember and thought it was tequila night) either way it was fine. We had spatzele in duck fat, with shallots and pancetta. it wasn't my favorite thing, it was a little on the salty side and i like a more traditional spatezle fluffy not chewy-ish with some crusty on top. I'm not really complaining i just didn't think it was spectacular. the waiter seemed a little grumpy, but i made a joke and then he like loved me. eh, no biggy once again. and it was crazy busy. I got to sit in the swingy chairs as I did last time. The tap list is decent and i'm not gonna complain at $2 a pint. also had some signature cocktails. They were well done, not my favorite but well done. The whole experience was good, not fantastic, but good. I will revise review when i go there and get more food.

I am so happy they have happy hour food now! Also, a full amazing dinner menu! My beer loving hubby and I enjoyed dinner and drinks here and this place has earned a solid 4 stars. The service continues to be sort of snarky, and then helpful and friendly, and then snarky, so don't expect consistency. But, the food was great, and as usual, so was the beer. We tried a couple beers ($3 pint specials for "recess" 3-6pm) and the favorite by far was I THINK called Otis River Imperial IPA (if anyone knows the actual name, please let me know!!) which was perfectly hoppy and sort of citrusy (mildly grapefruity?) and was the best beer I've had in awhile. The dinner food menu has a creative selection of appetizers and entrees and we ended up going for the Elk meatloaf with spaetzle, Tempera brie, and Roasted Beet salad. We especially enjoyed the meatloaf and brie, and I liked the salad too. Even though the food was on the spendy side, the drinks were a great value and we ended up getting an entree, 2 apps (pretty equivalent to an entree) and 4 drinks (3 beers and 1 cocktail) for $49, which overall wasn't too bad for the quality of food and drink we enjoyed. Plus, delicious house cocktails for $5 are about as good as you can get, try the Portland Rain Drop. This place could earn 5 star status if: 1) the dinner food was a bit more competitively priced (happy hour drink and food specials are fabulous, BUT dinner will cost you, though it is usually pretty close to worth it), 2) the service was a bit more friendly.

Our first visit to the Eastburn was tonight, for one of their monthly Beer Belly Dinners. This one was with Everybody's Brewing from White Salmon WA, and it was a stellar dinner. The staff are all super friendly and helpful, and knowledgeable about beer, so that's a huge bonus. I had a beer in the main-level bar while waiting to be seated for the dinner, and I was impressed with the tap list. Apparently they have even more beers on tap downstairs in the tap room, but we didn't venture that far. Aside from the event-related stuff, I really dug the patio space. Well covered but still had fresh air. Heat lamps, and swings at some of the tables. I could definitely see whiling away some hours at this establishment...if only it weren't so far from home.

Awesome food, affordable prices, but SLOW service. We went on a Saturday night for dinner, and when we got there the dining room was about half full. It was seat yourself, but after we sat down at a table it took roughly 15 minutes for a server to acknowledge us and bring water and menus. Good thing they have crayons and paper-covered tables to pass the time with! I will cut them some slack though because they looked a bit short-handed. I was very impressed with the food quality and flavor combinations that you usually see in more upscale restaurants. Verdict: I would go back, especially on the $2 pint Tuesdays or for HH.

Been here twice. I highly recommend the outdoor seating area. Great food, Good service, lots of fun. A bit of a scene on Friday and Saturdays. Wanna take out of town guests to a cool PDX place for drinks and yummy food? Go here.

    1. You cannot beat the $2 beer Tuesday happy hour here. Pretty good selection too. 2. Always too drunk to try the food. 3. Go downstairs. Pretty good ambiance down there. They have a pretty sick african cichlid tank.

One sentence can sum up my experience: Two dollar mimosas and the best breakfast sandwich of my life. Also the staff was incredibly friendly and it has a lovely patio area.

Been here twice and both times have been happy with the food, the beer and the ambiance. Service is a tad slow at times but man, the patio is awesome (No more smoking allowed here, folks. The fire marshall came and gave them a stern no-no so for those who still think it's ok to light up, you're gonna have to step outside to the sidewalks) The recess menu is really tasty but the portion sizes in comparison to the prices are pretty steep. My hubby laughed when the elk sliders came out because it was so little. After trying everything on the menu, we were $25 poorer and still kinda hungry. And yes, the Trinity fries are yummy (not so yummy when you bring leftovers home. Very greasy) and great to munch on while downing beers. For some reason, the past Friday when we went, there was an awfully short list of beers on tap but I know they had way more when we went before. Maybe a fluke? The skeeball area in the basement has a way different vibe than the upstairs. Oh, and please leave your kids at home. This place is not for kids (and c'mon, I have kids too but do you really want to pound back alcohol with your kiddos looking right at you? Really?)

Competent chefs with questionable palates. I had a tomato-basil soup for app and the Oregon Steelhead entree. The soup had great tomato flavor, but I only saw two slivers of basil and it was under-seasoned. My gf had the lobster mac, which was a little pricey for what you got. It needed a little more salt to make the flavors come out. A tad muddled in flavor. Everything on the steelhead entree was cooked perfectly. This dish is overwhelmingly sweet though. The description does let you know there are sweet elements, but the parsnip puree was sweet too! Perhaps the apricot caramel soaked in. Hmm, in hindsight I think I missed that there were three sweet ingredients listed in the description (pear, apricot, caramel) Alright so they told you it was going to be sweet. They're not liars. Move this dish to the dessert menu. I did enjoy the ambiance, decor, service, and beer selection.

I've been here several times and every visit has been great. Good food and a fun atmosphere. The food is exactly what you would expect from the culinary world of Portland and the drinks are great. If you don't mind having all eyes on you, you can enjoy the novelty of the hanging seats in the front area.

$2 pints all day Tuesday and the birthday deal are what will bring me back to the EastBurn. That and the fact that it is stumbling distance from my apartment and after the birthday deal at this place, stumbling is about all I'm good for. $2 Tuesday's has been mentioned I'm sure in half the reviews for this place. Let's recap. EastBurn offers beer from smaller breweries around Oregon. On Tuesday's they give you those beers for 200 pennies. All freakin' day. Now onto the big guns. The EastBurn birthday deal. I'm not sure how much of a notice one needs to give to get this deal, but if you plan on having your birthday here, I would call a month in advance. Read this carefully. You and 10 of your friends get to drink all the beer (tap or bottled) or house wines for free for an hour. Let's wrap our minds around that for a second. Free. Who says there is no such thing as a free beer? So, if you like good beer and you like that beer (or wine) to be free and you have a birthday coming up, you might want to give EastBurn a call and reserve your hour of drinky happiness.

EastBurn is a great spot to wind down or kick off the evening. But above all else, get the Mackin Cheese. By far the best mac & cheese in Portland, and there are definitely some contenders in this town. I've gone to this place twice in the past 4 days. You can get a seat at a table or booth like a normal person, you can get a seat at the small bar area for drifters like me, you can hang in the enclosed "patio" area where it's cool chill and have a cigarette without getting rained on, or you can go down into the basement area where it's usually a bit louder and rowdier. Tons of beers to choose from. This is Portland after all. The bartenders are really friendly and although they look like hipsters they are about as mellow, chill and approachable as it gets. I watched the Ducks football game here last weekend and the bartender was talking sports with me the entire time. My only gripe with that whole thing was there was no sound for the tv at the bar. Nice, clear HD big screen but no sound. Downstairs there was sound on the tv's but still it was kind of low. This is definitely a gem in Portland without all the hype. It can get really crowded on peak nights/hours... but any other time you'll have no problems.

Solid four stars for east burn! All the food I've had here is super bomb delicious! Especially when you take into consideration that this place is mainly a bar. Nice portlandy space upstairs and out back. I never really go downstairs though. Maybe I'm missing something there....

A couple of friends and I ventured here for brunch on a Sunday. East Burn had a nice atmosphere and the service was great. Our waiter was very kind and attentive. However, they had no vegetarian option for the breakfast potatoes. The potatoes are fried in duck fat, and if you don't like that, you can sub for fries. Fries are not breakfast potatoes. Breakfast potatoes are life. I myself am not a vegetarian, but my friend is. I had the breakfast potatoes, and I have to say that I'm not sure the duck fat really added much. Mimosas were delicious. The tables were covered in fresh paper and came with a small supply of crayons, which I loved. I had the corned beef hash and was underwhelmed. Too much corned beef (not usually a complaint of mine), not enough potatoes, peppers, etc. It was dry. Tasty, but dry. One star off for underwhelming food, one for lack of good veggie option. This is PORTLAND. Get with it.

A typical Portland restaurant. Romantic candlelight dinner place upstairs, lounge downstairs. Very hipster-ish, which should be a duh (!) since it is on East Burnside. They had some really interesting food. I had an alligator and crawfish gumbo and my boyfriend had a wild boar fettuccine. The alligator was tasty, not too spicy but spicy enough for what a gumbo should be. The boar was kind of bitter, and the fettuccine was a bit on the under-cooked side of al dente. We had a brownie dessert topped with vanilla ice cream, chocolate and caramel syrup and cherry syrup. It was delicious! There were plenty of waiters and waitresses and they were all so nice! I would love to come back here on a warmer night and sit on the patio.

Can we have zero stars???? East Burn, you have HORRIBLE service. You know how I like being treated when I go out...like sh*t, like a lying criminal piece of sh*t. I love having my blood pressure go up over six dollars. So, here's how it happened. After asking if Happy Hour was happening (at a special hour for this special event they had happening) and after pointing at the menu as we ordered to really make sure this happy hour was happening and after they brought us the wrong cocktails and after they eventually agreed to give us what we ordered and after they brought us the bill for said drinks...guess who wasn't getting happy hour rates. Us! So we asked about it and they said, "oh, it was food only" and that "they would only honor this 'special deal' if one of the staff had said it was for drinks" even though they DID say that. Holy cow, this is a really boring/COMPLICATED story for two drinks. Needless to say our blood boiled to the point where we (very polite and very kind to all service) said, "hey, you did say this was for drinks." Unhappily, they agreed. Really? You can't just charge the prices that you were offering? East Burn, read this. You lost all my money! I'm -- as the great Lindsey Buckingham sang, "I'm NEVER, NEVER, NEVER going back again!" -- of course, he wasn't screaming it. Way to keep the customer happy. I swear, it was like I was buying a used car. And I promise you, reader of yelp, I am not pushy with waitstaff. I pretty much won't send something back unless it has pubic hair on it, like the frozen freezer french fries at Caldera.

EastBurn, oh how we wanted to love you! But don't get me wrong. To loosely paraphrase the immortal words of Sally Field, "We like you, we really like you". Those wacky swinging chairs at the window tables were cool, as was the industrial look. And I especially liked that you didn't have the music cranked up (actually, I don't think you had any music on at all). I even liked the overenthusiastic and tattooed waitress who gushed at everything we ordered, telling us that she was getting hungry too! We started with the crostini appetizer, which was six slices of toasted (sourdough?) bread covered with melted gorgonzola cheese and drizzled with a little honey. This appetizer also came with some nice sweet ripe red grapes and thin slices of golden elicious apple. It was very good and definitely original. However, the entrees didn't warm the cockles of my heart. Our wait for them was too long (especially considering we arrived shortly after 5:00pm and the restaurant was still mostly empty). We ordered our flank steak and catch of the day entrees from, apparently, the "Beehive" series. Both entrees came with the meat/fish served atop a tall cone of risotto/rice. I thought the flank steak, piled on that mound of risotto, was cooked well, but its brown gravy-like sauce was too sweet. Also, I didn't recognize and didn't like the dominant seasoning of the risotto, whatever the hell it was. The sea bass was served with an herbed rice and asparagus mix. I did like the bass with its (very) light cornmeal crust. Initially, I thought the rice & asparagus was good, but then I realized some of the asparagus was crispy raw and other pieces overdone. And unfortunately, the more I dug into the rice, the more it oily it seemed. Eventually, the oil began to pool on my plate and I found I just couldn't finish the rice. Thought not *per se* part of my review, I'd still like to remark that the crayons they gave us to doodle with were mostly broken pieces. At least there was one orange crayon with which I was able to draw a large Yelp icon on the papered table in front of me.

I like drinking, sitting on a swing on a patio. I don't have this option at home, so a definite reason to come back. The beer taps were quite diverse, and I need to get here for 2 dollar Tuesday. Happy Hour (recess) is a good value, especially if you take advantage of the cocktails. I didn't taste the liquor in my drink, but felt it upon standing. The staff was on point, the sun was shining people were smiling. I liked being outside, but I didn't care for the smoking aspect of the patio, being that it is really quite enclosed, and everyone sitting there was smoking; there isn't a spot on that patio more than 10 feet from a door to the inside. I used to smoke, I know that people that don't are annoying as hell, but there are signs up warning non-smokers to deal with it. There are games to be played, and shit to shoot. The food is good and the place was clean, I can't think of a reason to not come back here, but when I do, I will search for star number 5.

We stumbled into Eastburn for a late night something..what could that be? Then I saw it. Trinity Fries? That sounds familiar. Yelp had talked them up,sounds like a plan, so why not? The portion is INSANE! They are deleeeeshious but we still weren't able to finish them. wow. The perfect marriage of sweet and savory..mixed with sweet potatoes and leeks, with lots of salt. Lots..maybe that's why we couldn't finish them? Let's just say they couldn't keep the water coming fast enough because who cares about the salt when something tastes that good? Well, that's what I thought until I felt the salt mouth burn and had to call it quits. I tried the grill cheese and it was great too but the fries even overshadowed an otherwise perfected sandwich. Needless to say, this place will be somewhere I'll need more willpower to avoid to often on those late nights when I know I can walk a few blocks for some great late night food and drinks...or water. I have to say I did expect more out of the atmosphere and back patio. I somehow pictured it differently. Can't wait to go back on a Tuesday night to check out the specials.

When EastBurn slipped me a note asking, "I Like You; Do You Like Me?" here was my reply: [ ? ] YES [ ] NO [ x ] Perhaps I misunderstand you/ maybe you'll grow on me. [ x ] I like your Skeeball and/or swingy chairs. [ ] I like your drinks and/or service. [ x ] You'll need to give me some time. (Too early to tell.)

Came here last week for the pig roast event. Awesome deal for a plate full of pig, juicy and tender roasted over a pit of charcoal, came with some sides and a pint for $15. Pretty good deal. Had decent number of beers on tap, but I like ciders and there were a limited number of available choices. Also ordered a burger, it was delicious and cooked perfectly and came with a side of fries. I personally don't like fries, and these were just ok. A little limp and oily but we still snacked on them anyways. Wasn't very busy at 7pm on a Thursday night but still had plenty of people around. We sat out on the patio, although small it was pretty neat. Big tables with swings for chairs, very fun. It's open for the great summer weather we're having but it looks like they have the ability to put a cover over the top for the rainy winter months with several heaters to keep you toasty warm too. Probably will be back again.

The food is good. Nothing too crazy, great, or bad. I've only had the biscuits and gravy, both mushroom and elk, and while both were tasty it didn't amaze. The mushroom gravy is better! I only gave three stars because it wasn't deliciously memorable like other biscuit and gravy dishes I've had in town. Service is good too. Solid place for breakfast/brunch. Complimentary scones are to die for. They are so dang tasty. I wish they gave you more than 1.

EastBurn is a bar of different vibes and personalities. Its mood is entirely dependent on where you choose to sit, with each unique area releasing a seemingly different flavor. You have the following options to choose from: -An enclosed back patio - great for summer drinking. -A relaxed and dimly lit basement with a very tangible dive bar vibe. -A more upscale hybrid bar/restaurant area with live music on the weekends (upstairs). -A series of sidewalk tables out front along Burnside - a people watcher's paradise, but a bit noisy. Its food is also higher in quality than your standard bar food. I have tried multiple plates and they have all pleased me. It is missing that intangible "wow factor" to warrant a 5-star review, but overall EastBurn is a very solid bar and worthy of being added to your bar rotation east of the river.

We discovered this place on our first night in town. Great food, great atmosphere upstairs and downstairs. The pot pie was amazing, they had an interesting cocktail list. Service was the best we had in Portland. Highly recommend going for dinner then going downstairs for a drink and a few games of skee ball.

This is my hang out spot when I'm in the East Burnside/20th area. I've had all manner of "dates" here from business luncheons to late night happy hour rendez-vous and every one of them has been a great experience. The staff is very friendly and their service is great. The food is high quality and the beer is...well lets just say I come here a lot just for the beer. Couldn't ask for a better atmosphere. I haven't tried out the wicker chairs suspended from the ceiling yet but one of these days when I'm not worried about making a fool of myself (I'm a bit of a clutz) I'll give them a try.

I was somewhat confused when I first arrived for the patio get together. I was not quite sure where the patio deck was. I went downstairs, scratched my head, then went back up. Eventually I saw the entrance to the back and promptly went in. I did not recognize anyone and a lot of the tables were taken already. I figured there would be other yelpers present drinking away those lovely $2 beers. I spotted 2 tables and quickly merged them together. I held the fort with ease surprisingly; did not get any dirty looks either. The waitress came by right away and took my drink order. I was looking forward to the oatmeal stout and hoping it would be similar to the one the have at The Laurelhurst. The waitress came back and broke the news it was all out. However, she recommended me to another dark beer that was pretty close to the oatmeal stout. I agreed to that and she came back with my beer. I enjoyed it very much, it was very smooth, rich, and not bitter. A few minutes later, the leader of the pack showed up and was happy I was able to snag a couple of tables. When he showed up, the rest followed. The waitress was very accommodating with our group. It was easier for her to give our debit/credit cards so it would be easier to cash out at the end of the night. For food I ordered The EB Burger with fries. One of the dinner specials was a pork medallion dish. Other people ordered that and they gave it high praise. I enjoyed my burger. The ciabatta bread was very firm, I could actually taste the cheese even when melted, and the pepper bacon gave it that extra boost in flavor. The fries were ok, they could be more seasoned and more crispy. The meat was delicious; very juicy and the hamburger retained its thickness through the cooking. The patio is certainly popular on Tuesday's. I noticed the people that were there before me were still there when I left a few hours later. The restaurant does get packed in the late evenings. It is best to get there early for patio seating as a lot of people had disappointing looks when all tables were taken. That dark beer I had ran out of its keg so I settled for the Dandelion New Belgium beer. It is only a 10 oz. pour but has a high alcohol content. That was certainly the beer of the night!

Eastburn -how do I love thee....let me count the ways... Swings & Firepits! The Sunday brunch menu Mimosa's & Bloody Mary's with bacon-need I say more? The delightful breakfast sandwich, The biscuit & elk gray-such meaty goodness The EB burger-pure perfection with loads of fries. The ice cream sandwich-delish vanilla ice cream between the chewy goodness of homemade cookies. ....I can't say more-or you'll show up & there won't be enough for me.

I love this place... have yet to disappointed. The food is great, have had everything from a salad to the fries. Drinks are good, they even happily accommodated my weirdo friend that decided to ask them to make his favorite drink [a strange and unique combination of hot chocolate, gin, and some other things]. Service has been consistently friendly and quick. Now on to the awesome parts. SKEEBALL! SWINGING CHAIRS [INSIDE AND OUTSIDE]! AQUARIUM! TWO BARS! Really.. the food and drinks would have to be ridiculously disappointing for me to not love this place... it had me at skeeball and swinging chairs.

"F#$% you, you mother f#$%er," came spewing out of the mouth of the beautiful Tall Leggy Blonde as she ushered me towards the door. "Really? F#$% you, man. Seriously, f$%^ you! Who the $%^# do you think...? Really, f#$% you!" could be heard echoing throughout the bar as I was led to the door by said TLB, her body acting as a physical divider between me and the shocked douchebag recipient of my tirade of profanity. What a great fucking night. We "rolled" in to Eastburn for some brews, and a quick bite to eat on the final stop of a late afternoon, early evening tour of debauchery. Little did we know we would be departing as the owners of some amazing new artwork while leaving a trail of vulgarity in our wake. We really couldn't have asked for a better night. Food was good and our waitress was hot! We both agreed on this, which is always a plus for an evening out. Alongside her good looks, she was attentive and helped us make a large purchase of some of the local art currently on display. And she made sure we were always beered. I've got to say that I'm always impressed with Eastburn's selection of brews. So much so that any shred of respect I might of had towards hipster nation was immediately lost as I witnessed a sea of aluminum PBR cans drunkenly lifted throughout the night. Although when I consider my expanding girth, too much good beer probably makes it difficult to fit into those skinny little jeans they seem to adore. But what really got me was that none of them knew who the hell the Allman Brothers are. Which is what lead to our rash of expletives. The TLB saunters up to the stage as the live band is covering one her favorite bands, the Allman Brothers. While not the greatest band in the world, their rendition was good and too be honest was much better than listening to one of the members repeatedly shout "check, check...check, check" into the microphone for a solid 5 minutes before they started to play. So as I mosey up side my hot mama, I'm given the royal stink eye by this photographer who is at the front of the stage trying to capture some pics of the band. First off I didn't bump into him or his ugly ass played out Portland poster child stocking cap and blue plaid lumberjack flannel shirt outfit. Nor did I get in the way of his shots, or in any way affect his ability to do his more than likely non-paying gig. It is live music, people. There is a stage. People, especially when intoxicated, like to dance. Which is why we decided to move up close to listen and maybe shake our groove thangs a little...this shouldn't be a problem, right? Apparently it was. So trying to be the polite and respectful person that I am (shocked, I know), I looked over and said that I was sorry if I got in his way, but we were just trying to enjoy the music. End of story, right? Well this douchetogropher tells us, "it's hard to do your job when there are people CREEPING up on you." Creeping up? In a crowded bar at the front of a stage with live music? Are you f#$%ing kidding me? First you stare me down and then when I apologize you call us creepers? And then you continue to act like an ass munch? F&^% you! Which is what was repeated over and over in various forms as we left the building. God, what a great fucking night.

I scoured the Yelp Reviews for a good place to go to dinner for my first night in town. I wanted simple, but delicious good food, good beer on tap, and a chill atmosphere. After much searching, I decided on EastBurn and my work paid off. It was everything I was looking for. I took a seat at the bar and ordered the über sondvich and substituted the fries for their trinity fries. I also had a draft beer, but the name is escaping me at the moment. Everything was amazing! I could only finish half of it and took the rest home to devour at another time. The sandwich was the type of meal that made your eyes roll into the back of your head. I chatted up the bartender, who was so pleasant and friendly. She helped me navigate my trip, culinary wise anyways (See my review for Gravy). I only wish I had more time in Portland since I only had time for one of her restaurant suggestions (next time I guess). I know it sounds like common sense, but I am now going to ask bartenders for the good places to go from now on in my visits to new towns.

This place is delish... We had the fried calamari for and appetizer and we were very pleased with that. The calamari had a Mexican twist on it which made it to die for. Also my husband had the pork with the greens, the pork was cooked really well and well seasoned. I would definitely recommend this place if you want a date night at a nice place with decent prices. And the swinging chairs are a lot of fun :).

Okay. The Mac n cheese with bacon here is AMAZING. Seriously DELICIOUS. I came here from California for the first time and my friends and I made it our mission to eat Mac n cheese at every restaurant. This was the best one BY FAR. So creamy and flavorful. There is nothing worse than bland mac. BLEH! We also got the Tempura Brie (A), Trinity Fries (A+), Potato Pancakes (B) and one of the burgers (A). The atmosphere is awesome and I love the dimmed lighting and swinging chairs. I would seriously give this place 5 stars if our server wasn't from another planet. Every question we asked him he seemed like he was asleep or daydreaming. "Do you guys have Blue Moon?".... wait 10 seconds..."Uhhh. Our list of beers is on the wall over there?" Well then! Aside from the dude man, I highly recommend this place. I look forward to visiting Portland again for this Macaroni and cheese...And for other reasons of course :)

My friends and I tend to frequent bars more during the weekdays so you can't really go wrong with Tuesday $2 pint nights! I love that they are always having new beers, it makes it interesting. I've had quite a range from chili beer to mint beer. Extra plus: 4 player PacMan!

I went here for breakfast on 3/28/15. I didn't know it was a bar and I don't drink...but no matter. I had the breakfast hash and it was great. I was with a group and the server actually *offered* to split the checks. Nice. I want to try the chairs by the window. And the lobster benedict. I'm only going to check "Good for breakfast" because that's all I've tried. I don't know about the rest of the time...

This is my first 5 star rating and I'll tell you why. Delicious reasonably priced food, great atmosphere, and a basement that is so fun! Go here for drinks, hang in the basement and play ski ball and Ms Pac-man; it is so much fun. I've gone here for dinner and everything was really good. My favorite thing though is the brunch. The food is absolutely delicious and if it's nice out, you can sit out on the back patio and drink a mimosa in the fresh air and sunshine. Many tables have chairs that are swings - like an adult playground with alcohol. What more could you ask for? I had a delicious frittata with potatoes and my husband had the smoked brisket hash with an egg on top. Strong drinks & outstanding food. 5 stars worthy ;)

I have many complimentary things I could say about East Burn. Their beer, skeeball, specials, trinity fries, patio, event space and all-over awesomeness have been well-documented. But they all pale in comparison to the one most important: 1/2 off all bottles of champagne EVERY SINGLE SATURDAY. DO YOU KNOW WHAT THIS MEANS, PEOPLE? It means you can show up fresh at the doorstep at 11am and order mimosas. It means you can show up haggard from a long night of working or drinking at 1:30am and order a split. It means you can show up with someone special and impress them with a fancy-shmancy bottle of bubbles, but secretly only pay half-price for it. It pretty much means you need to come here, every single Saturday, and enjoy the bliss that is bubbles. Okay?

Love this place! One of the most versatile bars in Portland. From delicious beer belly dinners to whiskey and Irish music nights to jam packed $2 pint nights, it is always a good time. The skeeball machines are fun when they are working. The staff is very friendly and are good at recognizing their repeating customers. The food is upscale bar food and well worth what its prices at. The trinity fries are a great snack to share among a table of people. Wine, beer, and spirits selection are all wonderful, too!

Really good late night menu. Had the buger and fries and the grilled cheese. All natural ketchup is the way to go!

Loved it. Quiet atmosphere (on Monday), downstairs was playing good music. Bartender was knowledgeable. Anthony Bourdain marathon on the tv. The bartender said there are pints on Tuesdays that are not guaranteed to be $2 so it's not $2 for any pint, as many as you want. Cool place!

An absolute favorite of mine! The chef is always full of surprising culinary treats! The music, atmosphere, patio, staff, decor is, simply put, big fun!

We stopped here for a snack and a drink on a Friday night. When we walked in, the upstairs dining area was dark and struck us as almost swanky. Looking for a more casual experience, we headed to the downstairs "tap room". The servers and bartenders were all super-nice, and the food we had was quite good. However, it is so incredibly noisy down there that it was hard to relax. There was also a woman sitting behind us who laughed so loudly and frequently in what resembled something like a cackle-scream, that all we could think about was getting out of there. I know it's not EastBurn's fault, but the acoustics in that room made it impossible to get away from the noise (we saw people all over the room looking over at her in shock every time she laughed). Add that to the too-loud jukebox and all the shouting over video games and skee ball, and we left as soon as we finished our one drink.

I LOVE East Burn. I am a health nut - I own a health coaching business so healthy food is very important to me. But so is taste. They get it down pat. They locally source, their drinks are incredible. Their fries are too delicious to handle. The servers are so kind and attentive. I say yes please to east burn!

So we can at the beginning of happy hour before they had totally gotten their act together. We decided to sit outside in the back patio, which might have been a bad decision on our part because there was no one out there and it was really hard to get service! The waiters mostly stayed inside and came out every so often. What's great about this place is that they have a lot of card games, board games, etc. They have trivia pursuit at every table! The staff are pretty nice and laidback. No rush or urgency in their step. I had their rosarita, I didn't really like it, it was strong which was nice, but it came in such a small glass on the rock, that would couldn't really enjoy it. Some people could probably finish it in just 2 or 3 sips! It wasn't worth how much you got for the price I don't think. The happy hour menu wasn't too bad. The only healthy thing on there was the salad; which was tiny. and then you pay to pay almost as much as the salad cost just to add chicken. I had the mac n cheese, which was delicious. It was a good amount for the happy hour price, but I definitely would not have like to pay full price for it. Overall, the food is pretty good, the service is ok, but I think it's overpriced. But that's just me!

Was here last weekend for brunch. Cool place inside, like the concept of the bamboo chairs hanging, the big screen and a cool atmosphere. My go-to brunch drink is the Bloody Mary. This one tasted good, however I do not really enjoy being nickel and dimed for every item that goes into the drink. It kinda takes the enjoyment out for me. I ordered the seafood eggs benedict and I ate them, however I have to say, the taste was off for me. I guess I am just used to your regular benedicts with an english muffin and all, so keep that in mind. The scone thingies they give you when you sit down were tasty and a nice touch. The service was just so-so and went down hill from there, perhaps she was busy. I dunno... I will probably head back since my friend is a huge fan and give it another go and try something different.

Was skeptical going in but pleasantly surprised, food is incredible drinks are wonderful and they have swinging chairs forgot sakes! Happy hours bomb too. Try the bourbon cherry buck n über sandwich.

I was finally able to get here during happy hour and wow, so impressed! Happy hour food can sometimes be a bit lame but EastBurn easily has one of the best menus. Their happy hour drink specials are plentiful and although we only had one drink each, they were delicious and affordable. For food, we went all out. We ordered the kale and goat cheese dip, the trinity fries (a must for a reason) and my friend ordered a small spinach salad that looked mighty delicious. One of the specials on the regular menu was the crab cakes and I could not resist. And so glad I didn't! For $11.00, I was a little concerned they wouldn't be worth it but these were some of the best crab cakes I've ever had. What they lacked in size, they made up for in serious flavor. Not a lot of filler, wonderful tender crab, and perfectly crispy on the outside. These two cakes, along with the sauce and microgreens on the side, were so perfect. We completely demolished all of the dishes--completely stuffed!--and I'm already planning on when to come back. They weren't too busy for the beginning of happy hour but after 5pm, the place started to fill up quickly.

I had the bangers and hash/mash. Was a brunch special. Flames. So good. A delicious combo of sausage/gravy/potatoes/egg/kale. I ordered the eggs sunny side up. The yolk + gravy mix is a must. Sausage had a taught outer with a dense delicious interior. Mimosa was pretty dope too. Sat out side. Vibes were on point. Good music. They have chairs that are swings which is dope and Portland AF. JUST YES.

If it's before midnight and I'm hungry and wanting healthy options, this is one of my stops. I almost cried when I stopped once and it was closed for a private party :c ( I recommend the Baby spinach salad with its red onion, candied pecans, and small chunks of roasted squash & gorgonzola cheese. All of this is tossed perfectly in acorn squash vinaigrette. Every piece of spinach gets coated! I like to top it off with Steelhead Salmon...Yum Great service, swinging porch swings, lots of drink options, TVs, and a whole different vibe downstairs

I've visited East Burn numerous times over the years and the best part is the consistently good food. My favorite is the uber sandwich, a pork belly topped with a chutney, caramelized onions, special sauce on ciabatta bun. I usually get it with the house salad and balsamic but the fries or home made soup are delicious alternatives. I've had other menu options and have never been disappointed. The price might seem high but your getting quality food. The place is a smash up in my mind, dive bar downstairs, nice'r' dining restaurant on the main level when you walk in and out back a covered patio with swinging seats and firepit tables. Although they market this place for game watching I find the tiny projected TV in the patio area without speakers and poor sight lines disappointing. Go somewhere else for game watching. I've found the service is a hit or miss here. The moment they get semi busy things go down hill at the bar. Apparently when they get busy cocktails get made as shots so be sure to clarify. Cocktails are spendy $9-11, beer $5. Parking is limited to side streets which can be tricky on a weekend evening but not as bad as NW. They'll offer up live music on certain nights which is an added bonus if you're into that. The place is good for larger groups of 4-8.

  • Carolyn C.

East Burn has neat swing chairs, a downstairs bar area with skeeball, and a back patio with mini fire pits. Often they'll have show nights and pull out the big screens + projector for them. Aside from the unique aspects of this place, it's not somewhere I plan on returning to any time soon. Their food is stale, limited in selection (particularly for brunch) and very overpriced. Example: Stale, cold toast for breakfast. Burnt potato fritters. Wilted salads. Dry, lukewarm, old chicken and apple sausage. Their bloody mary's however are very, very good. This review itself is prompted after many not-so-great visits over the last 4 years, and some consistently awful service - rude attitude and inputting the wrong order repeatedly. Not recommended for breakfast at all. If you're going to stop by, do so for the show nights. But that's about it.

How I love you EastBurn, you rock! Pre-kids I went to EastBurn for the live bands, $2 tap Tuesdays, Skee Ball, board games, and especially the Trinity Fries! O, the Trinity fries are sooo good. Russet and sweet potatoes with fried leeks, and a roasted tomato aioli. Yum! Since the little ones arrived this has become one of our go to brunch spots. They take reservations, so no worrying about hanging out waiting in line with a hungry kid or two. The service is fast, and the brunch is quite tasty. On the not kid friendly side, they have $2 mimosas during brunch hours, awesome! There is a great selection of beers, and mixed drinks. TV's to view the game. The patio has swing chairs, and personal fireplace tables. Like I said, EastBurn, you rock!

Thanks for the recommendation, Matt. You see, when I read a really pretentious yelp review, my guy & I are compelled to check it out because only douchebags write reviews which focus on self importance. FYI- Pro SI people wouldn't be caught dead in public on St Pattys or NYE (amateur nights). Delicious food- lobster mac & cheese & beef Wellington. Great service...10 minutes is very acceptable wait, but she some water for us in about 6 minutes...cuz you know- I time my servers...NOT. Payette lager is solid. Keep doing what you're doing Eastburn & do not negotiate with Yelp!!

We had intended to go downtown for happy hour for a Thursday night rendezvous, but EVERY. SINGLE. place we tried was packed (at 930 at night, BTW). Ridiculous. So tired of this crap; it was Thursday, which basically means it was Saturday night, which means we keep driving until we can find someplace without a wait. We ended up at EB because I had been and had some good experiences and it looked like the possibility of getting a table was good. So glad we persisted. Downstairs (with Skeeball!!) was a bit loud and we just wanted a little quiet so we could have our lil datey date. Walked back to the bar and there was nothing, so Hubbs notices the patio and we take a look. SHAZZAM! There was some live music in the main dining area, just a man and his guitar kind of deal. Good, but yell-y at times and we could still hear and appreciate him out on the patio. Hubbs was instantly sold on the swangin' seats. But it was getting late and the server warned us that outside service would be ending. But Mr. BOBCAT was the awesomest and told us that he would get us anyway, but that we had to make up our minds quickly if we wanted to order from the regular menu before the limited late night menu kicked in. Big ole shout-out to Bobcat who was congenial and attentive and who made our night. We ended up with the Uber sandwich and the burger, both were excellent and perfectly done. A beer for Hubbs and a cocktail for me and happy date night achieved! The menu was different than I remembered, which means change, which I really enjoy when the food is as good as it is here.

If this was a review on food alone I would give it 1-2 stars. I will never come back here if I intend to order food from the regular menu, the prices don't make sense for the east side. The fries that came with my entree were grossly undercooked to the point I could not eat them, calamari was bland too, but the worst thing was their ketchup, which tasted (and smelled) like it had been fermenting in the bottle.. The good: You can tell they use quality ingredients and they host cool events that are mostly free (the only reason I will come back)

Updating my review again. EastBurn is one of my favorite neighborhood hangouts, for sure. They run great promotions, generally have an awesome selection of beers, and the food can range from good to great. Over the course of my time in the neighborhood, the service had suffered greatly, which I Yelp'd about. To my surprise, I was contacted by EastBrun and they were more than glad to hear about my unpleasant experience, making awesome strides to try to fix the sore spot in anotherwise great establishment. Hats off to the folks at EastBurn for caring enough to humor an unpleasant Yelp review. That alone is enough to boost my review back to it's original 4 star. Great place, with management that truly cares. Rad.

This review is for food only, 5 stars to the staff! We decided to give you EastBurn another try. After the NYE experience. We stopped by for lunch the other day and really wanted to get the steak sandwich. We order the steak sandwich and the hamburger, but were informed by our server after putting the order in that they were out of the pretzel rolls the steak sandwich was supposed to come on. The whole reason we wanted the steak sandwich was because it came on a potentially awesome pretzel roll (pretzels are sorta my favorite...) so we changed our order and got the turkey Cubano. Both the burger and turkey sandwich where tasty, but I wouldn't say they were special. The other thing that was frustrating was that the only options for lunch are sandwiches, and salads. They did also have a macaroni and cheese with bacon. I wish the lunch menu has more options, and variety. Its very rare that I am able to go out for dinner because of the job I work, so lunch is usually my only option. I will say that once again the staff was amazing, our server was super sweet and very attentive. I really enjoy the energy of Eastburn, but in the future it will likely be a place where we go to grab a beer and have a laugh.

$2 mimosas, Maine lobster and crawfish Benedict, and stuffed brioche French toast. I really enjoyed having a cajun style breakfast, however I'm not a huge huge fan. The lobster and crawfish was really good, and their French toast was super light and fluffy. The restaurant itself was cool, really chill atmosphere.

My first visit was today for brunch. We made reservations with Yelp SeatMe and this is a HUGE plus in my book! We sat in the patio at the swing set tables, our server was friendly and attentive while also giving us space to visit and not rushing us. I had the flight of mini-brunch cocktails (yum!) and the special Benedict, which was very good. My friend had the Caprese Benedict with coffee and she liked her meal as well. There were several things on the menu that we both agreed we'd like to come back and try. The inside of the restaurant looked very cool as well and I would imagine it would be a fun place to come for late night dinner and drinks. I look forward to returning!

"Delicious descriptions, but failed to deliver" is the line that best describes the food. I was very excited to have beef Wellington from a well rated place on Yelp. It came out beautifully looking, but tasting average. The service was pretty slow and their tap menu was only a little better than average (though their cocktail and whiskey menu seemed robust). Swinging chairs are amazing and I am very thankful to have gotten the full experience of this place dining in one. Compared to the many restaurants on the east side of Portland that I have been able to enjoy, this place is a 2 or 3 stars.

Honestly came here for lunch just to take a picture with the hanging bamboo chairs but the food turned out to be really good! I got the breakfast sandwich and my boyfriend got the EB burger. They were both delicious and the prices were reasonable. Our waitress was nice and gave good recommendations. Overall it was a good experience!

The beet salad with goat cheese, greens, and pecans is deliciously smooth and flavorful for your taste buds and a delight visually. The EB cheese burger was juicy rich full flavored mouth watering opportunity for your senses. The fire roasted red pepper soup was textured, spicy and rich!

This place has a little of everything and a lot to offer. Went for a bite last night and the upstairs restaurant had festive live music playing, the downstairs was buzzing with different music, a younger crowd, the jukebox and the roar of the skee ball game. I saw comedy there a couple weeks ago... it's free and some acts were pretty funny. Get there early-ish or you wont get a good seat. We sat on the back patio which is lovely. The drink special had a funny name and included miller high life and sweet tea vodka.... served in a mason jar for $5. Surprisingly yummy! My friend had a sour drink which was also delish. We ordered the fries - a mixture of sweet and regular potatoes with fried leeks served with an aioli (sp) sauce. REALLY tatsty. The calamari was also something to write home about. Not the usual boring fried calamari, but light with a vinegar-y taste and some peppers... Loved the flavor! The space, the service and the food were all quite tops in my book!

Cool patio and great idea with the swings, but a bit uncomfortable and hard to sit on. For shorties like me, my feet were dangling in the air and I couldn't control the swing when it would move around. We moved to the benches. The indoor space is very diverse with little niches for a more intimate feel. Standard bar set up with a formidable beer selection. We had the turkey Cuban and it was aight. WTF Moment: Tomato kale soup was also a fail. Tasted more like a bowl of chunky marinara sauce. I ended up using it as a dipping sauce for my sandwich. Why do I keep ordering it?

Ian... Thank you for your wonderful service. I can't stop talking about how great this place is. Ian, Barry and that adorable thumb shaped owner provide some of the best service in the city. AND THE FOOD! This place is a secret brunch spot. Lobster bennedict, elk gravy and stuffed French toast... Dang... 2 dollar mimosas, where the champagne is cheaper than the OJ... You'll start your Sunday Funday just right.

EastBurn is the quintessential Portland eatery. Great, laid back servers that easily join in conversation and don't act like you're a complete inconvenience. Every single experience I have had here has been incredible. Their food is home-style meets creative and edgy. I love it. Especially Bobcat.

I like this place. I couldn't say a bad thing about it really. Fun downstairs with games like group miss pacman, and skiball, and upstairs they have a swanky little seating area and swinging basket chairs. The food is excellent and the service is great. The only reason I give four instead of five stars is for the lack of vegetarian options. When I am kicking it with my veggie friends, I can't seem to ever get any of them to agree to go there. Please increase the menu so I can go there more often...please :)

Cool seating of wicker hanging chairs inside, and wooden swings on the back porch. Oh and sweet tables around their own personal firepit - very cool atmosphere. And the food did not disappoint either! I had the Lobster Mac & Cheese, which was cheesy and delicious, though it could have had more lobster in it. I shared my friend's Uber Sandwich: pork loin, potato pancake, scallion, sour cream, carmelized onion, and bourbon-apple chutney. Tasty! The best was the Goat Cheese Tart: fig jam, beet puree, kalamata olives. Simply excellent. I only hoped that the portion was larger so I could keep eating more. This place is good for large groups, as my group had at least 14 people sitting together at a few tables pushed together on their back porch! I would definitely come back again!

Happened to be in the area and gave EastBrun a try for late lunch. Awesome place, easy to find with good parking. Very friendly server. I tried the Hanger Steak sandwich on a Pretzel bun. Damn good. We tried the Soup of the day, Carrot Ginger...was great. Wifey had the Burger and was a great Burger. Worth the visit.

This was my first time here and it was for a late Saturday brunch (around 1:30) I got seated right away, friendly staff, nice decor and vibe of place was chill. My friend had the stuffed French toast brioche and I had some brisket/corn beef hash scramble and both were good. The drinks were better. Would recommend.

I really don't want to write a review about Eastburn because I don't want you to know about it. Our family of eight had set out to have brunch at an establishment down the street. They had over a two hour wait so I turned to Yelp and found Eastburn. We called and they said they could seat us right away. We were seated quickly. The service was superb! They have $2 mimosas. I did the create your own bloody Mary which was excellent. The food: OMG! YUM! I had the hash dish and the flavors were out of this world. My son had the biscuits and gravy which looked wonderful. Great Service Great Food Great Drinks No wait Comfy atmosphere WE WILL BE BACK!

We love East Burn!! The lack of lines, cheap mimosas, the delicious food, the great service, the back patio and of course the chair swings!! Love love love this place!! Good job on NEVER doing anything wrong, East Burn! We can eat, drink, chat, pay and leave in the same amount of time it would take to just be seated at the Screen Door. P.S. Matt needs to calm down. OMG! 10 minutes?! You poor thing!! P.S.S. I absolutely LOVE the owner's response! If I could give 10 stars based on that alone, I would. Bravo, sir!

Review for the Chocolate Mousse only -- My husband wanted to stop by for Oregon beer and since I don't really drink, I grabbed coffee and dessert. Chocolate Mousse was huge and probably meant to be shared among 3-4 people (about 4 inch diameter). It was rich and smooth velvety chocolate and not too sweet. I loved it! For $7 it can't be beat! Coffee however was weak and tasted like water flavored coffee. I watched the crowd for a little bit and it seems like the food portions are huge (prices looked very reasonable on the menu). The crowd was very laid-back. As of the beer -- it was acidic, like many Oregon made beers we've tried. I am not fan of acidic beers.

Solid 4.5 1. They have SWING seats. SWING. SEATS. PEOPLE! The inner child in me is squealing in delight over here. 2. ORDER: THE BURGER. I would honestly put their burger at the top of my favorites list. They use a ciabatta bun, crispy bacon ( the kind that doesn't have the whole strip following your every bite), butter lettuce and I have no idea what kind of sauce that is but they should jar it up and start selling it as "magic."

Calamari is ok...it isn't bad, but it isn't delicious either. My wife didn't care for them. Service is excellent, or at least while we ate at 2:30. Not too many people while we were eating. Maybe the patio in back was filled with more people. Burgers was good. Nice and greasy, although not too much grease. Fries were good too. Worth coming back in my opinion

We were a large group at 10:00 am. The staff was very helpful and friendly, not at all overwhelmed by all of us. The food was a little slow in coming but our wait person new exactly which dish went to which guest and likewise with the separate bills. The food was delish and the build your own Bloody Mary was a great idea!!!!

I want to point out a few reasons why this establishment and also the owner deserves 5 stars: 1. Perhaps you didn't hear about it last year, but the owner Mike Bender made the big news, when a patron said something really sexist on their Yelp page. I don't need to repeat, but Mike's response to this was to hold a month long charity where proceeds of the grilled cheese sandwich went to Women's breast cancer research (correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe that is the charity they supported). I went there several times to get the grilled cheese for that reason, but also because it's freaking delicious. You kinda have to respect a man who stands up for women like that. 2. I don't know if you have heard of this, but they sortof have this amazing event every month called a "Beer Belly". It's held once a month on Thursday on the back patio (hanging swings are kindof awesome right?). You buy a ticket and you get to try 5-7 different types of beer paired with special food made specific for the event only. The executive chef Joe works with a different brewery (I believe it's normally local breweries, which who doesn't want to support local right?), each month to come up with the perfect combinations of beer and food. I've been blessed to go to several of these and let me tell you, it's totally worth it! If you haven't attended one, do yourself a favor and call and get your ticket for the next one ASAP. 3. Just 2 weeks ago they helped host a fundraiser for the Oregon Humane Society. They are constantly doing good things for this community, and having been born and raised in Portland, that's the kind of place I want to go to and if you love Portland as much as I do (I'm guessing since you decided to live here you probably are already awesome), then it should be the kind of place you want to go to too. 4. The staff is the pick of the litter. They are loyal and kind and they do their best even when it is crazy busy and yes it gets crazy busy. Every major holiday you should expect this place to be crowded... you know why? Because the patrons of this establishment are also loyal and kind and they know that going to Eastburn isn't like going to some bar, it's like going to a place you can call your second home. So thank you for reading my rant on just a few things that make Eastburn amazing and special! If you read this whole thing you probably deserve an award. Or maybe just reward yourself and stop here and grab some happy hour :)

Every once in a blue moon a business still takes me by surprise in a most pleasant way. Maybe I didn't scour the reviews of EastBurn as thoroughly as usual before swinging by here with a friend for lunch, but I absolutely didn't expect to be quite so enamored. The lovely outdoor space here is not even exactly a patio. It's a weird mish-mash of plastic sheeting, wood planks, bamboo and stone walls, and picnic-like tables between rustic swing seats. Pros and cons, in no particular order: + fantastic hand cut french fries - frozen sweet potato fries - unimpressive beer list + decent happy hour deals + house wine doesn't even taste like formaldehyde -/+ happy hour from 3-6, that's an extra hour, but too early to totally rock + nice, attentive, unintrusive service + patio + patio swings + indoor swings + all of the swings Overall, 4.25 stars. Now let's see if their brunch can bump. it. up.

EastBurn is awesome sauce. I never use this term and don't know why I just did. But anyway. It's a 5 minute walk from my house and I can sit outside with my dog! The last time we came, our server was really great. He was super personable and conversational and very knowledgeable about the menu and beers. Their Happy Hour is great. We shared the Pretzel with four cheese sauce and it was so, so good. The four cheese sauce is addicting. I could bathe in it, and I would. It even has bits of blue cheese in there which, while subtle, offer a really nice variety to the sauce. Speaking of cheese, their Mac & Cheese is also delicious. I got the Grover's which comes with bacon and grilled tomato. The radiatore pasta is perfect for catching the sauce in all its' little nooks and crannies. Their Trinity Fries are also addicting and includes potato, sweet potato and fried leeks with a tomato aoili. Crunchy, sweet and salty -- you can also add this to your entree that comes with regular fries for a little extra. The Ubersondvich is a very unique sandwich consisting of pork, potato pancake, sour cream, caramelized onion and bourbon-apple chutney. They also do a vegetarian version of this with a portabello. The sandwich is a unique blend of flavors, salty pork with soft potato and cool sour cream. The caramelized onions really make it, and that apple chutney adds a hint of unexpected sweetness. It's a must get. For dessert, the S'Mores Brown doesn't disappoint. The beer list is long and amazing. They have a nice list of cocktails, as well. I got one with Marionberry vodka that was a bit too sweet for my tastes, but they have something for everyone. They do a lot of events here like DJs, live blue grass music, Whiskey & Irish Music nights, etc. etc. Take a look at their calender to see what's coming up. Also follow them on Instagram to check out drool-worthy pictures of their food specials on a daily basis. And last but not least, you can sign up for a Rewards card with them through their website. Each time you order, you give a phone number and collect rewards!

This place kicks ass. We went here for brunch on a Sunday to watch a football game and sat in the outdoor patio. Firepit, swings, big screen - awesome. All four of us loved our food. It was delicious and pretty cheap. Service was excellent, the decoration was unique and interesting, and they didn't judge us for ordering roughly 400 delicious $2 mimosas. Five stars well earned.

  • Kaitlin P.

We called ahead but there was still a little wait. I love coming here, it's super fun and they had more than one place you could watch the game. We sat in their swing chairs which are very fun, if you are recovering from a hangover, I suggest avoiding. I am an egg Benedict fein. So needless to say I got this and my boyfriend got the lobster and crawfish eggs Benedict. Neither of us were disappointed. My eggs were more of a soft boil than I wanted and that was my only complaint!

OK you guys, I have to just start out with: my salad was served with an ant crawling on it. AN ANT!!! So, I sent it back, and they brought me back an ant-free salad. So, that's a step in the right direction... Came here last night for a comedy show - had an eventually pest-free beet salad and white bean spread with bread. I just can't get past the ant thing. Eew. And after I sent it back a really annoyed person came over to ask us what was wrong with the salad because the server didn't tell her and she didn't understand. What? Really? The service at the bar, on the other hand, was great and quick, so I appreciated that at least. Ok, but here's the thing, I've been to east burn lots of times before for drinks and once for happy hour and always have had an average experience. Nothing that's blowing me away, nothing that's exciting me. Although their fries are really damn good. So, overall....I don't know if I trust the cleanliness of the establishment (if you've been downstairs you kind of get it anyway) - it just is what it is. It's not like I cANT wait to get back there soon (see what I did there?)

What happened!?! We have been to east burn in the past and always had a great time. Great beer -quirky vibe. We went last night and it was depressing...We went downstairs for a pint and some skee ball -it was empty at 7pm the bartender didn't smile once and obviously hated her job. The upstairs wasn't welcoming either it was very odd. This used to be a place we would bring out of towners to or recommend to friends- not so much anymore.

The food is great and in the case of the lobster mac - awesome! The patio is pleasant. Bartenders are cheerful and quick. The calendar has music, comedy, television, and trivia many nights.

Wild boar bourguignon oh MY god. Super delicious food, great beers on tap, great patio. Equally appropriate for a nice dinner upstairs or just grabbing a drink!

Grandma was with the kids so we had a short period of time to run out and grab a burger, :)... And...Eastburn delivered (Erin our waitress provided a complimentary bowl of soup that was delicious)! Delicious meal, Thank you Erin, Eastburn!

I stayed in EastBurn's neighborhood a couple of weeks ago on a quick visit to Portland. EastBurn was the first place I patronized during that trip, and it was a great introduction to a wonderful weekend. My partner and I were hoping to sit on the swings inside, but they were all reserved on a Friday evening, so we sat outside in the sun instead. We ordered the Grover's Mackin Cheese with bacon and grilled tomato at our friendly server's suggestion, plus the Tempura Brie with marionberry preserves, baguette, and apples. We also ordered cocktails, the Sparkling Sidecar for me (I heard our waitress mention to another table that it was her favorite) and.. can't remember what my partner ordered, but it was probably the Sazerac or the Old Fashioned. Everything was delicious, served promptly, and inexpensive as we were there during happy hour. Really great deal for some really tasty food!

After having a poor food quality experience, I posted a three star review to reflect the inconsistency of quality over separate visits. The owner contacted me directly to assure me that he would review the concerns with kitchen staff and that they would make any needed improvements. He was empathetic and sincere. The follow up was prompt and professional. Every restaurant has a bad order that comes out of the kitchen from time to time, but it takes a great restaurant to acknowledge the error and work to improve quality. Eastburn earns a great rating through great service and professional follow through. I will definitely return for great food, drinks, service, and to confirm the improvement on the Uber Pork Sandwhich.

I don't think my fiancee or I could ever say enough wonderful things about East Burn. This place has been the third wheel in our relationship from the beginning. We've been coming here for Shanrock's Triviology since before Sundays were themed, and we'll finish out our Portland residency with a rehearsal dinner in East Burn's annex. Bobcat, Brandon, Lauren, Joe, and Beth, you are all my favorite servers/chefs/bartenders/power hour coordinators in Portland... and probably anywhere- it will be impossible to find people who meet the standards you've all set. For anyone who hasn't been to East Burn: why would you go anywhere else? Mimosas are $2 at weekend brunch (try the biscuits and elk gravy), recess offers some of the best grilled cheese in town, and the Ubertarian can't be beat. Trinity Fries are a staple of my drunchie diet, and the Mackin' Cheese satisfies nearly every craving I've ever had. And oh. my. god. the taplist. 19 rotating taps, all just as excellent as the last. I'm never disappointed when I scan that chalkboard. Maybe it's not obvious that I had a drink or two before waxing poetic about my favorite home-away-from-home, but can you imagine what this review would say if I were sober??

Mediocre food at best. Good spot if you like blitz but think you're too cool for blitz and in. All seriousness not a hip place full of frat guys trying to be hipster.

Genuine Portlandia. Sophisticated yet totally casual without any hint of pretentiousness. Cool music scene at times. Eclectic bar which features heavily local beers constantly rotating. Taps very well-maintained. Food creative, locally sourced and uniformly good to excellent. I would live here if I lived on this side of town. Happy hour is rock solid. We love the garlic white bean dip and cheese sauce with pretzels.

I love this place! It's always had a good time and the staff is awesome. I love the food, especially the portobello sandwich. The swings on the back porch are way too fun and the downstairs tap room is pretty cozy and chill. Free Skeet-ball with a dinner deal on Mondays, hell yeah!

I've been told about Eastburn and the beer that they have and the specials that they run. It's only a couple blocks away from where I am currently living but I hadn't had the opportunity to head over there. Well a Meetup group was going, and so was I. We went on a Monday and at least for happy hour, beer was a buck off. Shake Chocolate Porter. Wow. So creamy, so yummy, so chocolatey. Ok enough about the beer. There were many more options and they are always rotating. They also offer sour beers in bottles (and I am NOT a fan). It's a nice place but very dark, so I really couldn't take any pictures. We ended up downstairs and apparently on the first and third Mondays of the month there's a comedy show. Unexpected but it was pretty good. Also on Mondays there is a special. $10 gets you a pint of beer and their Ubersondvich. A pork medallion, potato pancake, scallion sour cream, caramelized onions and bourbon apple chutney sandwich with fries. That was really, really, f-n good. I don't know how else to describe it. If you've been here and had it, you know. The fries were spot on as well. They offer a menu item called Trinity fries (add sweet potato fries and fried leeks) and I believe you can upgrade it, or get them on their own. I'm sure those would have been interesting. I know Tuesdays has $2.50 pints and there are plenty of other specials during the week, check out the website for more info. I will most definitely return here soon. Enjoy.

Waited 75 minutes for our order to be taken. I have never had that happen anywhere. There was a party in the next room that had our waiter totally occupied. Food was just ok. We will not be back.

  • Amanda S.

I went here and enjoyed an Ubersondvich and a beer ($10 on a Monday). The sandwich was very tasty. The swinging chairs available by the entrance and on the patio looked intriguing, but unfortunately they were all occupied when we got there. We sat on the patio, which for a bit hot and stuffy. The sandwich was really yummy, and the beer selection was very good. Our server was nice but not very attentive, bringing the overall experience down. (We had to get up to ask for water refills, etc.) If I could give this place 3.5 stars, I would!

    (3)
  • Kristen A.

The tap room is the business! Play games, drink dranks, and chill on there Many cosy and inviting seating options. Upstairs is chill too, lots of fine craft beers and an amazing menu not to mention swinging chairs. Can't tell you how much I love this place anymore. Five stars all the way :)

Really like this place. Very calm, comvfortable and pretty on the inside. Friendly service and yummy food. Has an awesome outside patio in the back. Makes great cocktails, burgers and beyond perfect goat cheese beet salad. Love it! Also it seems they have music after 8, but it seemed mellow and not loud conversation interrupting music.

I really want to thank EastBurn for accommodating our party! I had called a little less than a week ahead to make a reservation for 15 people. Reserved without a problem. I then called about a day or two later to tell them that the party had escalated to 25, that we needed separate tickets, and that because I didn't personally know the majority of the people coming, I wasn't sure if everyone would really show up on time, bring a plus one without telling me, or come late or leave sooner than others. Experiences with other restaurants left me a little worried that they'd tell me to try going somewhere else. BUT without hesitation they reserved their patio for us. Service was great! She was really good at keeping track of all of us and our separate tickets! Super friendly and efficient! The restaurant atmosphere is unique, the swings are a a nice touch! Big plus that their patio is covered because it was a rainy Sunday afternoon. Food is delicious. The lobster mac n cheese and the stroganoff are effing delicious! They had a wide beer selection, too! Everything was reasonably priced, portions were big, and I don't think I heard one complaint from any of the guests about anything! Boyfriend's birthday party was a success! We will be returning, but probably with less people :)

Got seated, got water and menus. Waited a full 16 minutes before having our waitress come take our order, for which we received NO apology. Food was great, although the appetizer we ordered simply never came. She brought our dinner instead, and we were so hungry, we didn't bring it up. The food was good, at least! And it's not like the waitress was rude, just seemed not to have a sense of urgency or a drive to please. Next day update - within about 12 hours, the manager reached out to me personally to thank me for the review, apologize and give them an opportunity to make it better! Because of that, and because I know every business has something they need to work on (eg training or efficiency or whatever), I changed my review from a 3 to a 4.

I make a point of coming to Portland on weekends JUST so I can go to East Burn and partake in their amazing brunch menu. They offer many gluten-free options, veggie and meat dishes, and delicious specialities. I personally was drawn to the $2 mimosas when you purchase an entree. Giving their extremely reasonable prices for the quality of food (which is always exceptional), they are practically giving their mimosas away (and they are good too, more champagne than OJ). Although Im not local to Portland, I always bring my friends here, or simply come solo. No matter what, it's high quality food and service.

I'm definitely a fan, my fellow Yelpsters. Free comedy? Every first and third Monday, YOU DON'T SAAAAAAAY. I love free things, and free shows are among the best after dishing out over $500 for concerts for the first third of 2014. Every penny saved is a penny earned in my book! We went here last Monday for the first time to check it out. Honestly, Mondays should be on the Yelp page as a poppin night. Downstairs bar was packed with people and laughter. Definitely showed me a good time! AND THEY HAVE SKEE BALL. WHO DOESN'T LOVE SKEE BALL. The only downside down there was that there was only college ball on TV. I wanted to watch NBA, but it's not like I came here for that...

Great service and wonderful food and beer! You can doodle on the tables. Soo fun! :-) It Was really fun playing downstairs and doing the skee ball and old school aracade pacman! I highly recommend for a date night or somewhere to bring the family. Fun swinging chairs to sit at as well at the tables. Super fun place and amazing food beings im picky...bcuz I'm a chef myself.. definitely worth every penny

I loved the 2$ mimosas! We got the caprese Benedict and the lobster Benedict, both where good but the lobster was better, and the prices were great! I was also pleased that we did not have to wait for a table! I enjoyed the crayons and paper table cover, which gave us something to do while we waited

Brunch is served on the weekends only (and without the crazy long Portland brunch spot wait times either) and mimosas are only $2 with any meal purchase. SCORE! I had the lobster and crawfish benedict the first time I went there and it was delicious! I liked that it was served on potato pancakes rather than the English muffin for a nice change. My latest visit was during the holidays and it was pretty busy but we didn't have to wait for a table for 4 people. I was pretty hungry so I thought I could actually finish the breakfast sandwich (pic is posted) but I ate only half of the sandwich. It's freaking huge! It's filled with smoked bacon, black forest ham, a fried egg, provolone cheese, a potato pancake and tomato aioli in between herb foccacia bread. It is served with my favorite breakfast item: fried potatoes! The cost is $10 and filled me up until dinner time which consisted of a snack because I wasn't really hungry. It's super filling and has so much going on with each bite that you won't be disappointed. You can substitute the meat for a Morning Star patty for $2. I will definitely order this again!

This review is for the beer because the food menu is a little foo-foo for me. I usually like to go to a place because I know they have what I want but I do really like EB BECAUSE of their rotating tap menu. I have been able to try a lot of beers that I wouldn't normally get to try in one place. They also have a great HH price for their microbrew pints - $2.50. On Tuesdays they offer the HH price all day/night. There is a bar upstairs near the restuarant and another one downstairs where they have some games (video and skee ball). If you go there, even once in a while, join their reward program and earn points everytime you eat or drink there. You can earn some fairly decent perks!

I love the pattio. Swings, firepits, and beer. It's a very interesting place. The food was good, the taplist was impressive, and I enjoyed the atmosphere. The service on the pattio was a bit slow, but ovreall it was an enjoyable experience.

We really enjoyed our brunch here this morning. The food was excellent; I had the brisket hash, the kids had eggs, bacon, sausage and pancakes, and my hubs got the pork medallion sandwich. The service was spot on and our server accommodated a menu substitution for the kids with ease and grace. They even changed the movie playing in the background from a Roman epic to Muppets Take Manhattan for us without me even asking! One suggestion would be to make the hash with the fried breakfast potatoes instead of cubed potatoes. We will surely be back.

We went to this place after attempting to have cocktails at Doug Fir. I don't know if we were just super happy to receive good service or what, but this place was pretty good! We sat on the back patio in the swingy chairs, which was super fun. I had a cocktail, which was medium-y, the BF had a beer, which was tasty, and we shared a tempura brie appetizer, which was also medium-y. We tried to order the soft pretzels but they didn't have them available until 4. bummer! I enjoyed the back patio, but I felt like with the type of food they were serving, they should polish it off a little more. Otherwise, I liked hanging out there and appreciated that there was (at that moment) no smoking going on the patio. My BF's rating: "cozy, 3.5 stars is fine I guess."

How often do you get a chance to sit in a swing while you drink & hang out with friends? I was at Eastburn last week on an evening that was soooo cold - yet we opted to sit outside, on the swings, under the heater, and it was AWESOME. Great service. Strong drinks. Cool swings...and I just read in another review that they have Brunch on the weekends too?!?! Sweeeeet!!!!

Cozy and warm dark space for those gloomy rainy nights. The server was working hard to take care of us, so far, so good. I saw the lobster mac and knew I had to take THAT road. What's not to love in either of those 2 words and then putting them in 1 dish? WOW. BUT, disappointing unfortunately. I knew they were not using a cheesy sauce, but more of a béchamel sauce? So what, as Miles Davis would say. It still can be creamy yes? No. Sigh.. It was basically a bunch of elbow macaroni sans much else. The lobster was there but the other ingredient was just a lingering moment. The other folks at the table were good with their food but there's some WOW missing when all was said and done. I am giving 3 stars for atmosphere, service, and... potential?

we came here on a sunday evening and the vibe was a bit confusing - it was portland chic, but the food was delicious. we tried the kale dip (YUM!) and shared a beef wellington, portland style. i will be back to try the libations; the wine selection was not too impressive, but i want to visit the bar downstairs the next time i am here.

O I loved the food here!!!! SO SO SO good. I literally finished the entire plate and would have licked the plate if I could. The service was absolutely great, she was so sweet and took really good care of us. The ambiance is a really chill place, and still has that fun part near the bar. I think it'd be a really good spot for a date, because you can have the nice dinner and then just literally walk over to the bar or to the patio for some after dinner drinks.

This place totally lived up to its great reviews for me. I booked a table for our anniversary dinner using their online (Yelp-based) reservation system, and it worked like a charm. When we arrived, they had set up our table with GORGEOUS flowers, and it was offered that if we wanted a different table, we were welcome to take our flowers wherever we chose. That was a nice touch. The service was OUTSTANDING. I haven't had such great service in a very long time. Erin was our server, and she really went out of her way to make the evening special (small example: it was 6:30, so Happy Hour was over, but we really wanted to try the Fressen pretzels, which aren't on the regular menu. She made sure some were still available, and brought them out!) (And they were very good, served with the best pretzel-dipping-fondue-like sauce I've ever had with a pretzel.) After dinner, she offered us a complimentary dessert since it was our anniversary. We split their delicious toffee-chocolate brownie a la mode, and they even produced an accompanying glass of milk for me upon request! The food was great as well, although since we both ordered the Beef Wellington, I can't comment on most of the dishes. The only negative thing I can think of is that their menu is very limited--not a lot of choices--and an oddly large number of the available items had bacon involved. I like bacon, but not all the time, everywhere. I also wish I'd had a few more entree choices. We will definitely go back to East Burn to try their Happy Hour menu, and also their breakfast/brunch menu. The food was great, the service was unbeatable (thanks again, Erin!!!), and the prices were more than reasonable.

I've been here a few times and have always found the service great and the food even better. The calamari appetizer is amazing! They have an awesome deal on Mondays for their uber sandwich (meat or vegetarian) and a pint for $10. The swing chairs and drawing paper table cloths are fun and makes for a relaxed atmosphere. Overall, one of my favorite places I've eaten in Portland!

Really cool bar and restaurant! Hubby and I went here after seeing a movie. Got the mac and cheese which was yummy, hubby got a burger. We went on a Friday night with live music, so it was a little awkward when we sat down, ordered food then one of the employees started clearing and moving tables out of the way for the band. The music was great and the crowd was nice, it just put us in a little bit of a weird position.

I've been to EastBurn a handful of times now and have always enjoyed dining upstairs. There's this great server up there that likes to jawjack with me about football, which I love! (He's Packers, I'm Bears). The service in the dining area has always been amazing...for that, EastBurn will get 3 stars rather than the 1 I think they deserve for the experience I had last Monday night in the Taproom. I went for comedy night in hopes for a yummy dinner with my friend and a few laughs. It was my first time sitting downstairs in the Taproom. We got the most amazing booth right next to a jellyfish, love. We were in a great mood, having a good time, and then the service happened. Oi vay. They brought my friend a beautiful beet salad with an ant crawling on the plate. Fail. Then, a different server came over with the most ridiculous amount of attitude to ask why we had sent the salad back as the original server apparently didn't inform her of the ant issue. I guess I could understand if the place was busy at this point, but they weren't yet. The original server also brought food that wasn't ours, and they never asked how I'd like my burger cooked. The servers never followed up with us after replacing the salad to see if we needed anything. I even had to ask a stranger to reach over the bar to steal some ketchup for me, because when I approached my oh so happy server to ask her for it - she looked at me like I was an idiot and kept walking. Minor things, but added up, makes for a not great experience. I will say that the bartender was wonderful and saved me from completely walking out. She was busy, but still had a smile and great attitude. I only wish her supporting server had the same positive attitude she did and less of a problem. Customer service means just that, customer service. :)

My wife and I swang by Eastburn on a Tuesday night for dinner. The place was pretty full and we were told we would need to wait an undetermined amount of time. We were told to check out the bar in the basement until our table opened up. The downstairs area wasn't what we were looking for - a flashy dark bar without any windows. There were some pinball machines and other games but we weren't in the mood. We sat out front and waited about 10 minutes then got seated near the front window. Our chairs were suspended from the ceiling and we had some fun swaying about. I asked if they had any local whiskey. The server said yes then moments later brings me a glass full of clear liquor. Hmm, white lightning? Not quite what I had in mind but it was interesting to try. To start, we got the tuscan white bean spread with bread. It was definitely my favorite of the night. The bean spread was like a deeper, smokier hummus. For entrees, I ordered a baby spinach salad with gorgonzola, red onion and balsamic dressing. It was tasty but unremarkable. My wife got the chicken fried steak with Elk gravy. Hooo boy was that a rich dish! Overall, I felt the food was a good value. Eastburn is a fun crowd-pleaser with a great drink selection. It's affordable, the food is reasonably good and the interior is lively and unique.

This is a good brunch place. The egg sandwiches are killer. There generally isn't a wait, which for Portland is a gem. The staff is friendly and the make your own Bloody Mary was full of choices and really tasty. We usually go here a couple times a month, I can't see this changing!

I really generally try hard to avoid hipster locations. That being said, I was in Portland and they are very hard to avoid. Aside from the hipster infestation this was a nice dinner choice. I ordered the ubersondvich. It is made up of a pork medallion, potato pancake, sour cream, caramelized onions and bourbon apple chutney all on a ciabatta bun. Each of the ingredients had good flavor, and they all worked well together. The french fries that came along with the sandwich were very good. The right amount of crisp and good seasoning. Our server was knowledgeable and attentive. He clearly had passion for the menu.

This is probably my favorite restaurant in Portland. The food is delicious and reasonably priced, the atmosphere is warm and welcoming, and their service is great. I have been coming here for years and it remains consistently awesome. Feels like a living room away from home in Portland :)

Love this place. Great food, beer and cocktails! My only not so good comment is that they advertise Whiskey Wednesday which did entail $2 off all whiskey and Irish music. Come to find out this is no longer (although there website still had it posted) and although it is still whiskey Wed but no $ off the whiskey and no Irish music :-(.

Good brunch on the weekends with minimal wait times. I've had their basic eggs/veggie sausage/potatoes/toast dish and farmers scramble, which on that day contained bell peppers, onions, and mushroom gravy (yes, a scramble smothered in gravy!). The potatoes are some of my favorite, they are crispy without being oily, big chunks and they season with large-flake sea salt. Throw on some Aardvarks and you've got yourself a delicious breakfast. I've also been to EastBurn for some beer-related events, such as the Rye Beer Fest, and have found the location to be ideal for drinking. The downstairs and outside patio are fun hang out spots and help with space, not to mention the cool hanging seats inside and out, the heaters and the arcade games downstairs. EastBurn has something for everyone!

This bar is my go-to on weekends for a late lunch. Happy hour burgers and wonderful cocktails are my forte on a Saturday or Sunday filled with chores. That being said, I can't give EastBurn 5 stars. I just can't do it and I will tell you why. Pros: - Great seating options (including swings by the front window and on the back porch), drink specials, happy hour food menu. - Fun events, such as Low Country Boils (crawfish, andouille, corn on the cob -all I could eat for $20 with beer), and live music throughout the week. - Bar below the main restaurant with skeeball and other games. (It's more bro-y than I like on Saturday nights but the games are great fun.) - Food selections that are interesting and fairly priced for the quality. There are slight seasonal changes to keep things fun and relevant. - BEER LIST. They always have fantastic tap selections, such as the Ginger Cider that I had last night (yum!) and top notch cask selections. - Interesting cocktails. My hubby adores the Hop, Skip, and Go Naked (don't be grossed out by the inclusion of Miller High Life - it's very refreshing on a hot summer day. Embrace your inner white trash.) I'm a fan of the Bourbon Cherry Buck. - $2.50 pints on Tuesdays. Most of the tap list is included. - It's casual. I can come here for a date with my husband or after a hike in the Gorge and it doesn't matter what I'm wearing or eating or drinking. - My friends dig the joint and tables for groups can be arranged quickly on most nights. - Brunch with fun food like wild boar or elk gravy and biscuits. Yum. Cons: - Service can be shoddy. The servers are always nice and well-meaning, they just don't deliver the quality that I would love as a regular. Even when the bar only has one other customer. - $2.50 pints on Tuesdays. The young ones arrive en masse and bang on the bathroom doors with fury. The service issue gets drastically worse. - It is rare to get a legitimately medium rare burger. I have had to send my burger back at least once in the past due to overcooked meat. I don't play that game - if I order it a certain way, it's because I want to eat it medium rare. - Never, ever, ever trust them to cook Cajun/creole food. Especially on Mardi Gras. It's just not their thing. Crawfish boils? Sure. Dirty rice? Fool me once... Overall, I heart this place pretty hard core. Need lunch? East Burn. Don't want to cook dinner and too tired to try a new spot? East Burn. Want a drink? East Burn. It's a win-win.

I love that there are so many options with this place. You can come here regardless of what you're in the mood for. I especially enjoy their outdoor patio and always try to snag one of their swing seats! After a drink or two those swings can be a little trippy! Food and drinks are great and I also really like looking at the aquarium in the basement, I just hope they have better care standards than the Portland Aquarium!

I guess 4.5 stars to be more accurate but I rounded up. I like that you have the option between downstairs and upstairs at EastBurn depending on what vibe you're going for. Downstairs is a dark drinking establishment that has some fun arcade games. Upstairs is a bit roomier and fun to chill in when there is live music going on. There is a good selection of rotating beers on tap and on certain weeknights there are specials on top shelf whiskey and tequila. I haven't eaten anything from the regular menu, but the happy hour food options are awesome. Their burger is one of my favorites in all of Portland. The bartenders and staff have been very friendly the handful of times I've been there. I'd say go for good happy hour eats and $2.50 Tuesday night pints.

Beef Wellington and Wild Boar Stroganoff dinner entrees were excellent! The Beef Wellington portion size is smaller than you might expect but very filling. We came on a Tuesday when all of the craft pints are $2.50! And, if you're looking for an appetizer, the Tempura Brie is ah-mazing. We'll be back.

I keep wanting this place to live up to their reputation and prices. I keep being disappointed. Every year or so I find myself thinking, "Maybe Eastburn has finally gotten their act together," and giving them a try. Tonight my girl and I decided to go for their "Eat Off Your Banjo" event, which happens everyThursday at 8 pm. I ordered a lemonade cider and my girl had an Old Fashioned. The cider was forgettable, with weak lemon flavor and no real sweetness or tartness to speak of. The Old Fashioned was about right. I started with a small mixed greens salad with the dijon vinaigrette dressing. That was okay; nothing really stood out about it, but it's a basic house salad. For dinner my girlfriend got the steak salad and I got the alaskan cod fish and chips with sweet potato fries. The steak salad was respectable. Again, nothing really stood out, but the steak was prepared nicely, the blue cheese crumbles on the salad were yummy; all in all, not bad. The fish and chips were dreadful. The sweet potato fries were massive wedges of potato, perhaps an entire potato split into six wedges. Which means cooking them properly is impossible; the outside was overdone, the insides were considerably undone. The fish was even worse. Rather than planks of light flaky cod, what I got was four croquettes of dense, pressed cod, with heavy breading and over-cooked into dark brown pucks. They were leaden and bland. For dinner we split a key lime tart, which had none of the tart lime flavor one might hope for. A second drink was ordered, but completely forgotten by our server until we bugged her about it. And to add insult to injury, when we left at 8:45, the band was still tuning up and adjusting their monitors. Sigh. Maybe this time I'll wait two years before trying again. Portland has so many better options.

Great local live music and beer selection! Love the back patio...great for a low key romantic date or for a dinner date with all of the friends! Delicious salads, especially their Steak Salad! And then when the music is over, head to their basement for some pacman, buck hunter or virtual mini golf! Love this place!

I had the fish with pancetta. It was delicious but the flavor didn't distribute. The pancetta was intensely salty and fatty but it didn't really flavor the fish. Still delicious and I would go back!!

I do like EastBurn for a few reasons - good beer selection, rotating taps, nice cocktail creations and big food. There's vegetarian options, friendly staff, and for the most part you can usually get a table (of course the coolest ones are in front with the hanging chairs!)

I really love the atmosphere of this place. Hands down just a great vibe when you walk in. My boyfriend and I were on a super long wait list for a restaurant so we decided to come to EastBurn to have a drink while we waited. We each had mimosas and another unique drink that I can't remember the name of. It came in a mason jar and had beer in it! I really loved this place because the bartender was genuinely friendly, the prices were really reasonable, and I greatly appreciated the champagne to juice ratio she gave us ;) If we had more time, we would have definitely come back here for more drinks and to sit in those cute swings!

After getting engaged, we went to this place by word of mouth from a friend. We brought 17 people to this place, Saturday night at 10 pm. Right from the get go they were hesitant to seat us, continuing to repeat that our group was too large and giving us snooty attitude- all the people who worked there. If you own a restaurant and bar you should be able to serve and amount of people, and with a smile. The ambiance was nice and the banjo band playing that night was alright. They already had a large party so we were forced to seat in a small area and not all together. They did not even try to get us more chairs. We should have left from the beginning. In the end, our party paid over $230 for this sub-par place and we will not be going again. Pretentious hipsters, mediocre food, and awful service. Word of mouth travels fast-I wouldn't be surprise if they continue to go down him from what we experienced.

EastBurn is one of my favorite bars in Portland. They have something for everyone, and little bit of everything you want in a bar and restaurant. They have a main dining room upstairs. It is spacious and inviting. It includes comfy booths, tables that can accommodate large parties, the bar (of course), and a sweet corner setting. They have a couple table with swing chairs. That seating area turns into a stage, where they have live music on a regular basis. They have an awesome patio. Its heated in the winter, and the canopy (that covers the entire patio) pulls back for those sunny days in Portland. They have awesome tables on the patio. Some with swings (yes, I know, so rad), and some with a mini fire pit built in the middle. I love hanging out on the patio in the summer and winter! Downstairs is a very fun and cool room. Complete with a full bar, dj booth, skee ball, and games! They also play movies, sports, and shows on a projector screen. I've been to some hopin' dance parties downstairs. They have a yummy menu, with changing specials. Two very, very full bars, that will satisfy your every thirst. Drink specials... Food specials...Uh their weekend brunch! Oh man I love their brunch... The atmosphere, the somewhat random décor, the different rooms and floors, the drinks, the food is all up to par. Also, they do an annual Bacon Fest!!! Everything is AMAZballs!!! I'm going to end on bacon and balls. XoXo EastBurn!

AIGHT. Back to four! Y'all did listen and added a warning that $2 pint night has a cover after 9pm. Thank you. Knowledge is power, and y'all embraced that fact. GOOD. Plus, I love the downstairs with the fish, the Pinball & the Pac-Man. And of course the $2 pints on Tuesday. ALSO the trinity fries? Yes, please and thank you. You've earned back that star, EB. Well played.

Yes, we are a fan! The bartendar tonight was awesome and his customer service skills were just RIGHT ON! The food was also amazing. I had the steelhead and my wife had the Portabello sandwich. This is our second time at this place and both times have been excellent!

Very good food, very bad service. $2 mimosas are awesome, except when you have to wait an hour for someone to run to the store for more oj.

Back patio is AWESOME! Between the table top fire pits and swing seats, its a great place to chill. Service was good, never had to go into the bar to order a drink, the server was on top of it. Drawback? Mixed drinks were weaker than weak. Bummer. Next time I'll stick to beer.

I came down from Seattle to visit Portland, I stopped in to get a bite before going to the Tribal belly dance studio across the street. It was a Monday around 5:30 so we caught Happy hour. Good drinks, awesome food, good service. We got the mac and cheese and pork sandwich. Also I love the swinging basket chairs and paper bag paper on table for doodling. Totally would come here again, especially before/after dance class.

I've been here once before for happy hour and it was delicious. Just recently I was here for brunch. The boyfriend had a create-your-own Blood Mary. It was delicious. I had a mimosa and that was also delicious. Brunch was good. I had the lobster and crawfish benedict. I liked that it was served on a potato cake instead of your usual English muffin. We had a half order of the biscuit and elk gravy. It was interesting. I liked it, it wasn't bad but my personal taste runs towards a little more gravy and less meat. I don't even know where the biscuit was in that. It's nice that you can bring your kids here although we were the only ones with a child with us. It seemed like the best place to grab some breakfast after a night out because there was a lot of that going on around us. We may come again for happy hour.

I have to update my review for EastBurn. After writing a subpar review for the place on yelp, the owner contacted me and sent me a gift card so I could re-try the restaurant again. I have to say my recent experiences here have been very nice. The hidden courtyard patio with the swinging chairs are fun and interesting. Makes one feel like a kid again. I went back for a weekend brunch. Mimosas were on special and cheap, and the food was delicious. I really enjoyed it, and there wre quite a handful of options. I hope to come back, and it is nice to see more vegetarian friendly options on the menu. Thank you.
