After more years of using DD, I have still had consistent service for the most part. I have learned that some restaurants are more to blame for issues than DD themselves in some aspects. I was informed that one place never started constructing an order until the driver arrived, meaning the delivery time was increased due. The one thing we have learned over the years is that you do have to remind them about drinks often, which is a bit of a pain in the butt. These are house items, not gotten at the restaurant, so the drivers can be kind of flakey about that. We've never had any food go missing or unaccounted for. We do order from the same restaurants generally, so that could be because they're so good at packing orders. Recently they couldn't reach us to alert comfirm something was out at the restaurant and ask about a substitution option. Instead the restaurant adjusted the bill on their own and DD adjusted the charge on their end. No fuss involved. If you have a tricky hard to find location, I suggest leaving detailed directions on your account. After doing that, we never had a driver get lost and a few drivers have thanked us. They do read the notes on your account and must have good training and/or hiring practices in place. I don't like a lot of the updates they've done to their website over the years but it's rare any site ever updates in a way that pleases most of us creatures of habit. I'm sure it's easier for them on a professional end perhaps at least.

Ordered from them for the first time tonight and I am highly impressed. It said it would take an hour and only took about 20. Our delivery driver was really nice and called to verify our apartment number ahead of time. The food was hot and the service was not expensive for the area it covers. Other services take way longer and do not offer as many restaurants as this one. I will definitely order from them again.

I order through Delivered Dish (DD) quite often (i.e., 1x/wk at least). Sometimes they deliver my food early, sometimes they deliver it right on time. But the only thing that has been lingering in my mind is what they could have done to make up the times when I have been delivered orders with missing items in them. I appreciate the fact that the drivers are willing to either go back to restaurant to get the item(s) or that they are willing to process a credit for the missing item(s). However, if I thought that I would have to double check to make sure that ALL of my food was given to me then I don't understand why the driver does not double check for the complete order at the point of pick up at the restaurant. I honestly think DD needs to give a free dish, a coupon, or a discount on the next customer purchase order when this happens. Business wise, it is just not acceptable after 1-2 times. I absolutely love this service, I just wish I wouldn't get my hopes up to get a complete order, only to be let down with missing items.

Tried to remain optimistic after using them for 2 years. 95% deliveries wrong, cold, or late. Bad drivers too. THEN, when you express dissatisfaction... they actually told us (a manager) we couldn't order anymore because we were not being polite enough to them !!!!! Had to track down owner who said he'd give "us" a second chance. Planet earth to deldish, hello? Are you there? PLEASE someone compete!! I travel all the time and use similar models... they all bend over backwards to provide solid service. Getting orders right, on time delivery, good drivers. Seems easy really.

I ordered 60$ worth of food and placed my order. Received confirmation email and was told a phone call would be received if any problems occured. 35 minutes after order I get an EMAIL telling me my credit card did not go through. NO phone call. I did not see the email until 45 minutes after order. Who does business like this?? I could have resolved the matter in a few seconds if I got a phone call as stated in website and confirmation email. VERY poor business and service.

This place is genius on wheels. When you think of delivered food, you tend to think of either pizza or catering. Well I do anyhow. Pizza can get old and catering can just get plain expensive. Besides, if you don't have a ton of people to feed, catering is just idiotic. Enter Delivered Dish. Delivered Dish takes over 50 Portland metro area restaurants and brings them to your doorway for a nominal fee ($6 and a minimum order of $20). That's right folks. There is an expansive menu listing catering to almost every kind of cuisine. They take your order online, by phone, or even fax for breakfaster (with 24-hour notice), lunch, and dinner! So say bye bye to pizza delivery and hello to whatever your heart desires.

I'm writing this review because I have used D-Dish for quite some time, and I feel now is a good time since I have experience with them. They have been messing up quite a bit lately. Just now I received a call letting me know that the restaurant I ordered from is not open yet, and so I have to wait a bit longer for my food. Now, this isn't devastating and I'm not going to pitch a fit about it. I won't die because I have to wait, and I understand there are things out of their power that they can't necessarily control, but this could have been avoided by making sure they were up-to-date with the restaurant's hours. Yes, restaurants change their hours all the time, but when you're doing business with these people and providing a service to a customer, there are responsibilities that need to be taken care of in order to provide the best customer service. This is why I'm giving them three stars instead of two (I'd give 'em a three and a half if I could, but that's not an option). I feel two would be too harsh because D-Dish truly has made an effort to right these things for me, which is probably why I still use their service. However, last time I used them, they were a little sloppy on the call-back when a driver locked his keys in the car and couldn't get to me. I never received a call until the delivery time had gone by. I think I waited around two hours for delivery at that point because another driver had to come and get the food and then deliver it to me. That was, unfortunately, their fault since they hadn't bothered to call and tell me the driver was experiencing issues. I will probably continue to use them in a bind or when I'm being really lazy and don't want to go outside. But in the future, I'll be certain to make sure the restaurant I'm ordering from is open because apparently there is sometimes miscommunication between these businesses. Great concept. A little sloppy on the execution, but I've always gotten my food in the end! Lol.

I've used this service many times. The food has always arrived when expected and is always hot. Every delivery driver has been friendly and made sure we received everything that we ordered.

This is the service that brings Portland to the table with the big kids. Gone are the days of watching Chinese food delivered in the movies and wishing you lived in New York City where such small luxuries were within reach. The service is a bit costly but I suspect the built in gratuity and delivery fees are a safeguard against cheap people who don't feel like tipping is warranted unless table service was involved. I hate those people. I've used the service three times now and am giving them five stars with confidence and conviction. *Heel Click!*

We love Delivered Dish! When you're busy, sometimes it's nice to just have someone bring you some food. We love all of the choices, and these guys are always friendly, helpful and prompt.

Wow.. May I say that driver was smelling like he was drinking. I wasn't happy with the service, the food was cold. I am pretty much done with them. I am pretty upset about this. Seriously what a waste of 40 dollars and the time. Again the food was cold :(

    (1)
  • Deb M.

These people just never learn. I can't tell you how many times I have received sub-par meals from these nitwits. For one, I have asked repeatedly for them to SEPARATE THE COLD ITEMS FROM THE HOT!!! It ain't rocket science guys. I'm tired of getting limp wilted salads with blackened avocados and then cold food that would've been at least warm if it hadn't been stored with all the cold items. AND I am FORCED into tipping 15% for this BS. AND 15% of the delivery fee as well. Not to mention the delivery fee itself. The tipping and fees are usually more expensive than the meals themselves. It's cheaper to hire a cab to go get it. The drop down menu falsely makes you believe you actually have a choice in the matter. Try selecting less than 15% and you'll see it reverts back to 15%, including tipping on the delivery charge. Oh but if you select more than 15%, the menu magically works and holds that amount. Mistake? Coincidence? I don't think so. Breaking a law, yes, yes they are doing that. And they have been reported. And they will be reported again. I would LOVE for someone to get it together and actually provide this service with some intelligence and ethics. Why should I tip 15%, including 15% of a delivery fee, for some moron to just drive a bag to my house? Because they don't do anything other than that. It's an insult to real wait staff who have to work so much harder for their 15-20%. Shame on you D-Dish. You're pathetic.

Our new house is in a dead zone when it comes to food delivery. Like pizza...that's just not OK. Grub Hub will deliver two restaurants to us. When I was in Bamboo Grill last night I picked up a flyer and was intrigued by Delivered Dish. Because I'm a food stalker, I was excited to see the restaurants that were available. There are literally thirty to forty restaurants for me to choose from! I was a happy girl. I'm not feeling well today and didn't want to make dinner and the Manfolk was wanting some real food. Hello DD! I ordered online and selected Lil Cooperstown. I'm guesting that they used the West Linn location but I'm not sure. We had the shrimp Alfredo and the French Dip with tots. DD was here when they said they would be. Easy to pay online while you order. The driver was nice and our food was piping hot. Even though DD didn't prepare the food, I was impressed by the service they provide for a reasonable delivery fee (which varies from restaurant to restaurant). I'm sure that I will be a regular customer!

For a city as large as Portland, we have a surprisingly small number of diverse delivery options! Thank heavens for delivered dish!! We were getting tired of the same old pizza places, this opens up a word of food possibilities! They're quick, polite, and saved us from another dominos call! Love them! My only suggestion is later hours, especially on weeknights...

My mom lives out of town and wanted to send us a meal after our baby was born. She was happy to help, the food was great, and the fries were hot and tasty. A bit pricey for regular use, but in a pinch, these guys are awesome. I highly recommend!

Overall rating of "A-OK" but when it comes to Customer Service, in my experience, "Woohoo! It's as good as it gets!". Let's start with the "Woohoo! It's as good as it gets!" Their Customer Service, in my experience, is as good as it gets. You've got a problem? Email them or call them & you will get prompt & satisfactory resolution. "I guarunnnteeee!" Why just A-OK and not Meh or Eeks? IDK, I keep asking myself that question. I guess it's because I feel like they just don't get it and it's not outright bad service. I'm not sure what they could do to make things better. You know? Minimums suck. Especially if you're 1 person. Hitting a $20 minimum with 2 or more people, not a problem, but if you're just 1 person it IS a problem. Hitting the $20 minimum at lunch if you're 1 person.... fugetaboutit! I'm sure the $20 minimum discourages many single Portlanders from using the service. So, to review, minimums SUCK/earn a 1 star rating and I don't know if that's a D-Dish thing or a restaurant thing. You know what else sucks? That on top of a $20 minimum there's also a service charge/delivery fee. And I'm told by D-Dish's drivers that the service charge/delivery fee does not go 100% to the D-Dish driver who's delivering my food. So, now throw a tip in on top of the $20 minimum & the charge/fee. It's sooo expensive to order via D-Dish. What's the deal with the charge/fee?? Food arrives luke-warm at best and often hot & cold were transported together... "sigh" Not sure how long food it sitting around at the restaurant before it's picked up - but I am SURE it's sitting as I've never once received food that was anything other than luke warm. This is one of the problems of using an outside delivery service instead of having employees at the restaurant delivering to customers. I read this on NPR about delivery and it's perfect: "Hot food has to stay hot, and cold food cold. Customers also want textures and flavors as good as they would be in a restaurant, or at least close enough that it beats leftovers." Most of the time the food being delivered by D-Dish does not beat leftovers but I blame that on the restaurant/D-Dish relationship/process and the poor choice the restaurants make with regards to which foods get selected for delivery and the to-go containers they put those foods in - not all food transports well and some types of foods do better in one type of container vs. another type of container. Delivery is slow. But I've noticed that most delivery in Portland is slow (unless you're ordering from Dominoes or Pizza Hut (insert gag here)) Speaking of delivery, options in Portland, even downtown Portland where I live, are slim. I don't think you can get anything delivered except for a couple of Pizza joints and a few Chinese restaurants - everything else runs through D-Dish and, well, read my review. Meh. It's frustrating because Portland is a city and was named "Best American City" in 2013 but the city amenities are certainly lacking. Like.... restaurant delivery. Thanks D-Dish for trying to fill the need! I appreciate you. But, honestly, it's just not working out very well, is it?

  • Kelly D.

I can't even believe this company. My order took OVER 2 hours. When the driver finally showed up, he looked higher than a kite on 4/20. I paid extra to receive biodegradable utensils and plates, but the items that came were definitely NOT.

I've used Delivered Dish many times over the past few years. I'm a fan of the "schedule ahead" service that allows me to schedule a time earlier in the day on days when I know I'm not going to have time to cook dinner for the family. The drivers have always been courteous, and only once was the meal delivered behind the time frame they promised (by only a few minutes). I had to contact customer service only once; I had a complaint about the way the restaurant packaged hot/cold/raw items, and I meant for them to alert the restaurant for future reference. Within 15 minutes I received a call and a credit. I was amazed at the service, since I made it clear that DD did nothing wrong. That's an example of great customer service. The only negative I can think of (and the reason for 4 instead of 5 stars) is the fact that the restaurant list is so limited for my area (SW PDX), and few new restaurants have been added over the past 5 years or so. We'd use them more often if they added more restaurants with good reviews.

  • Clayton T.

I've been using DD for several years but not anymore. At first they were great. Always on time or early and food orders usually correct. But over the last year their on-time performance has gone way down. They have been late several times, food orders missing items, drinks missing, etc. And a recent change to their website allows an order to be placed with a restaurant that is closed and they just automatically set the next date of delivery for when it opens, as if I would want a burger and fries at 10 in the morning...the next day! The last order...and I mean the very last...was delivered over 2 hours late and they said it was on them for the delay...it wasn't. No credit, no apology, nothing. Good bye!

Let's see if we can redeem this service from the bad reviews over the past months. We were tired, it was cold outside and we were hungry for Chinese food. If we lived in L.A. finding a good Chinese restaurant that delivers would not be a problem, but Portland apparently isn't ready for that in a large way. Enter Delivered Dish. Order from the menu's of 150 local restaurants (you can create your own menu book or your restaurants). You can track the order from placement to delivery. It was right on time. They did not have to call to confirm anything and our P.F. Chang's dinner was wonderful! OK, so I admit that between the tip and the delivery fee it was a little spendy. But look what they do...they negotiate delivery agreements with all the restaurants- they collect the money, call in the orders, go and get it and deliver it exactly when they said they would. The driver was nice (non English speaking) . I'm sorry but it was worth it to me! And remember boys and girls...they have a lot of restaurants,so always check out the restaurant on YELP(of course) before you order. Delivered Dish has redeemed itself with me.

We tried Delivered Dish for the first time and found it very satisfying. The online ordering is so easy and our food arrived within an hour and was still hot. I look forward to ordering again! I also look forward to seeing new restaurants added to the list.

The following is from a review I posted on another review site back on 12/1/12. It was such a horrible experience that I STILL have not used this company since and never will. Here is our story.... Tonight, we placed an order online on the company's website for a full meal for our family. Immediately after the order - at 6:22 p.m. we received an email saying that they had received our order, a summary of our order, and a receipt for our purchases. The estimated delivery time was 90 minutes. Which seemed a little long to begin with. But it's Saturday night so we figured maybe that was why. During the checkout process, one thing stood out as being very annoying. There is a box where they allow you to insert the TIP for the driver. The box is already pre-entered with a 15% tip added in. But you can change that to 10% or whatever amount you feel like tipping. I don't know about you, but $12.50 seemed a little excessive for someone just bringing a meal to my door. I mean, the pizza guy is really happy with just $3.00. So $10.00 seemed a little excessive. I went to change it to 10%, which made it a little over $8.00. But the website just changed it back to $12.50. I was confused why I wasn't allowed to change the tip. So I clicked on the box next to my order that said, "Need Help? Chat Live Now." I began chatting with a guy named Justin. I asked Justin why I wasn't able to change the tip. He explained, "Deliveries to the west side are automatically charged 15%. That can't be changed." I asked him, "Wow. Really? I'm forced to tip 15%? Is he going to set the table and bring drinks to us as well? Doesn't that seem a little high to you?" and Justin promptly terminated our chat session without any response. I was a little flabbergasted. But we were all hungry so we just went ahead with the order, despite my displeasure about the forced tip. Fast forward 2 hours. At 8:22 I finally call them. I gave them my phone number and they responded, "We don't see any order in our system for you. Are you sure you ordered today?" I said, "What? Are you kidding me? I have the email and receipt right here. It shows you charged me $83.00 at 6:22 p.m. this evening and I have a summary of my order and everything." The guy who was on the other end of the phone said, "Well, we've been having some problems with our website lately. I'm sorry, but even though you got that email, we didn't get it. And we never processed your credit card either. We can get an order placed for you right away. But unfortunately we don't have anything yet." I said, "So what happened to the order I placed earlier? How would I get a confirmation assuring me that my meal was on it's way when it really wasn't????" He couldn't really answer that. Just again explained that they had been having periodic problems with their website. Long story short, we did finally place another order and waited a little over an hour for it to finally come - over 3 hours after we initially ordered our meal. I was just appalled at their overall lack of consideration, lack of any empathy at all when we called and unwillingness to really do anything for us to make up for the 3 hours that our family sat hungry waiting for our meal that we paid over $80.00 for! I haven't seen this bad of customer service almost anywhere in my life. I'm just stunned

I freely admit that I am on occasion, lazy. Too lazy to be bothered to walk the 8 blocks to Smokehouse 21. I am pretty sure that I will not be ordering Smokehouse 21 via Delivered Dish again though as I wanted the oyster shooters and they shot me down saying that for health reasons, they can't deliver oysters. Ok, so how about the deviled eggs then? Nope, you can't have those either. Well, dammit, now I am annoyed. I did need BBQ in a bad way and I was still far too lazy to drag my ass out of my home and risk getting rained on. So I did order the pulled pork sandwich with the side of BBQ beans, mac n' cheese, and a corn bread. There is a $20.00 minimum order. I was not terribly impressed by the wait time which was a little over an hour and my order was lukewarm, bordering on cold by the time it arrived. It just seems to me that if you are traveling 8 blocks from the kitchen to my place, it should be faster and it should be warmer. Likely I will be giving Delivered Dish another try but not for Smokehouse 21 for the reasons that I can't get the food that I want delivered. I'm thinking maybe I'll try it with Thai Peacock since their driver never seems to be available. 2014 - Review # 46

Easy App, great food, fast delivery. Delivery Dish made my stay in movie weekend. I will be a return customer for sure.

This is an update to my review in April. In the interest of full disclosure, I was contacted by Delivered Dish, got an apology and an offer for credit to my account if I would give them another chance. I've ordered from DD twice in the last week, the first time since April. The new web site is much easier to order from - no backing up to find the next item on the menu. The service is much improved. Delivery of the first order was less than ten minutes late; the driver got a little lost, which is not unreasonable considering where I live. The delivery tonight was five minutes earlier than the estimate on the web site. Everything was packaged appropriately and the food was still warm. So I've upgraded to four stars. I'll add the fifth star if they continue to provide such good service over the next few months. ******* Old review I really want to like this service. It's so handy when I just don't feel like going out. Every time I've ordered for the last several months (3-4 times), my order has been ridiculously late. Not thirty minutes late - an hour or more late. No apologies. Tonight, a Sunday night, it took two hours for my order to arrive. According to the order tracker, it was an hour before the restaurant even started to prepare my food. When the order arrived, it was not bagged. The driver started handing me all of the little salsa and sour cream containers, as well as the five small baggies full of chips. It took three trips into the house. When I asked why the food was not in bags, the driver said, "They don't give bags to the drivers." Really? If I went to this restaurant and ordered take out, they'd give me my order like this? For the price, they should do better.

Consistently late, with nary so much an apology. Tonight was 30 mins late, as was the last time, combine that with marked up prices and delivery fees. No thanks. The sooner Seamless/Grubhub come to Portland the better.

Very good for people that have kids.. Instead of going out with the risk of the baby crying. You can enjoy a nice restaurant meal at home. The food was still piping hot when it was delivered. I have tried typhoon, Namaste and Ah Fong Kitchen Delivery fee was not bad. They tend to come earlier then the ETA for me. I ordered from NAMASTE and it came in 30mins.. Awsome !!

As I type this i've been "first in line" after calling DD one hour and ten minutes ago to see why I have not received an email confirmation for the phone order I placed two days ago. NEVER AGAIN.

I have ordered frequently from d dish, almost always Chinese from P.F.Chang's. It has occasionally come late, though not tremendously late., maybe 20 minutes at the longest. I have always gotten an apology from very polite delivery people. The food has come hot and quite delicious. Is it pricey? Yes a bit, but considering the options for delivered food in NE Portland are pizza or pizza, and considering what is involved in picking up my order from a busy downtown restaurant, well heck, it's worth it. I really have no gripes about this service. I'm thrilled to have found them.

Just found out about this, ordered some delicious Hawaiian food, it arrived promptly, and was tasty and hot! Will order again for sure!

Mrs. Burgerdogboy and I often eschew the holiday crowds on typical dining out days, and Valentine's Day proved no exception to our "rule." We decided to have dinner sent to the house via Delivered Dish, the local service we use quite often and are very satisfied with. (Available in both Portland and Denver). I was left in charge of selecting our repast, and since I know that there's nothing Mrs. Burgerdogboy loves more than sushi (except your author, of course), I ordered from San Sai, a growing, national chain started in Southern California. My selections included the sushi/sashimi assortment tray (24 pieces), some edamame, and a half-dozen pork and veggie potstickers just for me. I had placed the order on Sunday, for delivery Valentine's Day at 6pm, knowing I would be driving back from an appointment in the 'Couve, and hoping I would beat the delivery guy home! Turned out to be no problem with the traffic, even stopped for some sake, got home, we built a fire, and waited for dinner. A few minutes after six, Delivered Dish called us to tell us the driver had been slightly delayed and would be at the house momentarily, which he was. We had a beautiful spread of food, and Mrs. BDB teased me that she thought I would have ordered a take-out hamburger along with the treats for her, but nooooooooooooooooo.......... Dinner was fabulous, and Valentine's evening a dream. I crow about how good Delivered Dish is all the time. They deserve it,

Do not buy from Delivered Dish, they include hidden charges in every menu item. If you want to verify this for yourself check out the Kenny and Zukes menu: kennyandzukes.com/downlo… Then compare the price for a Reuben, 13.45 with the Delivered Dish price of 17.50 menus.deliverycheckout.c… That's a 4.05 markup on a sandwich that you will also pay 6.50 to have delivered to you. But you can't get just one sandwich because it's less than the minimum, so you will need to get something like the chicken noodle soup, which is also marked up $3. In the end you will have paid 12 - 15 dollars for delivery, only half of which you will know about, and then there is still the question of tip. If you are including the delivery fee and these overages into your tip calculation you are actually now tipping the driver 30 - 40% of the actual cost of your food. The convenience is great, but the deceptive pricing and consumer gouging are really tasteless.

I am so pleasantly surprised with this service. Not only was their site easy to navigate, they were also very polite (and five minutes early)! Today was a lazy day where my friend and I didn't want to leave the couch, so we gave this a shot and were so impressed. We will be ordering again.

Pretty disappointing experience... had some food delivered from India Oven, and chose to pay with cash. Delivery gets here and has no change...? Not his fault imo, but whoever is managing their operations should be giving these guys plenty of change... I ended up paying $40 for $27 worth of food. The next frustration is that the chicken vindaloo from the restaurant, while costing ~$15 was barely a pint-worth of food... Went great with our $7 piece of garlic-naan. Probably won't use them again.

DELIVERED DISH! Te amo! Originally hailing from Phoenix where it seemed everywhere had a delivery option, it was a big ole bummer for my belly when I found that Portland seemed (for some reason) extremely anti-delivery! I am a lazy puerto rican who cannot cook worth a hoot and I appreciate a good delivery. Well, Delivered Dish has answered my prayers. How I adore thee, let me count the ways. 1. Their web site is phenomenal and super easy to use/navigate. Many different restaurants to choose from too! 2. Every restaurant I have ordered from did not have marked up prices to order through d-dish (maybe I'm lucky?) 3. I placed an order for 8 people, with the total coming out to about $60, but the delivery charge was not marked up at all. Dude was delivering a lot, definitely gave him a big tip for lugging all that Greek food up a couple flights of stairs. 4. Their delivery people: always friendly! Out of a handful of times I have used this service, only once was the delivery 5 to 10 minutes after the web site's estimation. It was due in large part to the fact that I was in a tall building with many suites in downtown Portland. Tough for anyone to find the first time. I've read many older reviews that their delivery times were way off, they've seemed to remedy that now. Fifth, lastly, and most importantly: THE FOOD IS ALWAYS DELIVERED WARM AND SCRUMPTIOUS! Go Delivered Dish! Don't ever leave!

I appreciate the service that d-dish provides, especially on days when I'm busy/tired/need to get groceries. I have rarely had a late order, and the few times that it may have been a little past the estimated time the driver always apologizes and explains if there was traffic etc. I understand not every driver may do so, but I have had positive experiences thus far. I also understand that the driver has to get to the restaurant (which may be busy, I've been to places where I've had to wait for my takeout for anywhere from 5-20 minutes just because the kitchen and servers are slammed), and then to your home, so factor in all of the inner city traffic, especially if the order is coming from crosstown.

I have been a faithful D-dish user for YEARS and am sad to report that over the last several months we have seen a huge decline in their service. The food now consistently arrives late and COLD. The last straw was tonight - in addition to being late and cold AGAIN, they are now using hot pack BAGS instead of the structured box delivery packs so the containers were all tipped on their sides. A disgusting mess when I opened everything. DONE. I'd give them ZERO stars if I could.

I worked with a client in Portland for almost 2 years. I traveled there every other week. I often used Delivered Dish to get dinner when I didn't want to cook or to go out. I was ALWAYS extremely satisfied with their service. Once, I got unacceptable food from a restaurant. I took pictures with my cell phone. I contacted Delivered Dish, even though the bad food wasn't their fault, I wanted them to know what that restaurant had sent out because I thought it might make them look bad as well. They immediately refunded my money and contacted the restaurant to discuss their food. I was very impressed.

They really need to find a way to work in allowing restaurant coupons... It's not like they won't get their delivery fee and tip.

Under-promise and over-deliver. A classic marketing strategy. Smart, if you can pull it off correctly. I placed my first order tonight, after browsing through a lot of menus. After considering the weather (blargh), my recent diet (so-so), and my wallet (it's payday!), I settled for an order from Pastini. Pastini is so-so; but, for a $20 minimum order, plus the delivery fee, plus a $5 tip, I wanted to get the most food for my buck. So, Pastini pasta, a salad and an order of cheesy bread with marinara sauce became the order of the day, enough food to feed me for the rest of the week for $33. Smart....AND Thrifty! I placed my order on the web, created an account, checked my e-mail for confirmation, and checked my bank account for the charge. Everything was correct. The delivery time promised on the website was 85 minutes, tolerable because I wasn't starving. 45 minutes later, I was puttering around the house when I heard the doorbell. Standing on the porch with my food was a polite, helpful kid. The food order was correct and all condiments and accompaniments were present and accounted for. A major "Over-Deliver" Win! Plus I avoided a potential MVA by not having to drive there myself, saving not only a trip's worth of gas, but also higher insurance premiums and a broken bone or two. Careful...AND Thrifty! Success is usually dependent on flawless execution, and this order was flawless. On top of that, it's a fantasy come true: All my life I have dreamed of having someone cook for me and bring me my food while I'm lounging at home in my sweatpants.

I've ordered from this place multiple times. After my son was born a year ago it was the only way I would eat sometimes. Having said that, I'm tired of the food being 30 minutes late every time and cold! I don't think I've ever received warm food from them. I always have to reheat it. If I wanted to cook food I wouldn't have ordered in! I think this is the last time I will be ordering food from them.

BEWARE of possible false advertising regarding free delivery (and a very mediocre restaurant selection at that)! Out of sheer stupidity on my part, I have been a long time customer of Delivered Dish, but today's incident was the last straw. This same situation happened a couple of years ago with a different restaurant, but I let it slide that time. I was told back then, that the free delivery was only applicable to a certain location of a particular restaurant, even though no such information was posted on the site. Today, DD failed to honor a free delivery advertisement again, and I am livid. Today, we ordered lunch from Hubers, seeing that the DD website stated free delivery from this restaurant. After I checked out and reviewed my email receipt, I saw that I had been charged the $7.50 or so delivery fee, so I called Delivered Dish and asked if they could credit me the delivery fee. I was told "no" they could not (????) I asked why and was told that I was supposed to enter a free delivery code at checkout. Mind you that the website does not state this at all.....anywhere! I would not even begin to know where to locate this so-called code on their site. I have sent DD an email requesting a credit for the delivery charge, and suggesting that they work on their advertising and customer service policies. Should I not receive the credit, I am going blackball this business permanently and report them to the BBB as well, as my receipt clearly states "free delivery," yet shows the delivery fee added to my bill. DDs customer service and policies are sorely lacking. Also, the restaurant selection continues to be so extremely mediocre. Not to mention that by the time your order reaches you, it tends to be lukewarm. Yes, this a great concept, but the owners of this establishment need to seriously address the fact that their website lacks pertinent information and instructions regarding so-called "free delivery," and they also need to address their customer service policies. I mean, how hard it is to issue a customer a small credit when the business is clearly at fault for not providing adequate information? I'm beginning to wonder if the "free delivery" from certain restaurant advertisements on their website is scam, because as I mentioned earlier, this happened to us two years ago, with a different restaurant. UPDATE: On 7/13/10, I filed a complaint with the BBB, as I have yet to receive a response from Delivered Dish, or a refund for the advertised free delivery fee.

I use these guys a lot for work meetings as well as for home delivery. They deliver for a decent selection of restaurants. They have been consistently on-time, and the food has always stayed nice and hot in their little travel bags. The website is helpful in letting you know which restaurants are open or not, and what the expected delivery time will be. They also can deliver to a specific time as long as you order ahead of time. Sometimes I will order a day ahead of time for meetings and such. Great idea, great service. Better than ordering pizza, though they can deliver that, too.

Ahhh yes, the Double D as we call it in this house. DD is a great service of delivery magic. It sprang up to take the place of this other delivery service and I can't remember it's name. IT delivered EVERYTHING, you could get dinner AND a movie. Perhaps you wanted lingerie along with your restaurant meal. Done. Need some shampoo and a new t-shirt this place could do it. If someone remembers the name you have to message me, this is driving me nuts. Was it like "mosmo" or something, it was wayyyyy ahead of its time. The short of it is that it couldn't sustain it's prices and deliver. Double D makes up for it by charging extra for deliveries and the invidual food items themselves. Some good places are listed on the menu and all your favorites are generally a few dollars more. To top it off, the delivery is usually a fee as well. Unless you follow them on twitter and score the regular free delivery specials. Some argue that it doesn't hold up well or the service is slow. It's always been timely and our food has always been hot. We also stick to ordering things that DO travel well. Lots of Thai and Asian food, some Indian Curry...it's all good. Even Bamboo Grove is on the list and you could feed quite a few hungry people with the portions Double D is packing. Can't go wrong, if you're hungry, grab something besides Pizza and get it in about an hour. Tomorrow works too if you really plan your life out in advance. Keep your pajamas on and rock out.

When delivered dish first rolled out their service I could not have been more pleased. Their customer service on the phone was top notch, their delivery was on time (not speedy, but consistently on time), and the delivery price was reasonable. If they made a mistake they fixed it. They knew me by name, and they knew that I loved cheesecake. They slid a little. Though more restaurants signed up, the restaurants I enjoyed ordering from signed off and their delivery charges began to rise. Mistakes were not resolved with as much friendliness and sometimes not dealt with at all. They slid a little more. Their phone service was no longer friendly and personal, and their website became cluttered with horrible chain restaurants. Their delivery charges got more pricey. Their food began to arrive cold, without side dishes, and often without the dishes you ordered and with ones you didn't. They slid more and are now stuck in a ditch of awful. The prices from the restaurants they feature are usually several dollars higher than if you actually got take out yourself, plus a delivery charge. The restaurants they service must hate Delivered Dish, because the food arrives either over or undercooked, if you normally get bread or a side with your entree-don't expect it to be included when they deliver it. They are nonchalant about their delivery times, and if they are an hour late-tough luck for you. Their website doesn't work correctly using firefox, and their phone operators insist it does. No more for me. Portland needs more delivery options other than pizza, but in my opinion not from this service any more. I'm sad. I do like cheesecake delivered to my door.

Combined delivery service failure and restaurant failure - I'll focus this review on Delivered Dish as a first time customer. OK, first, the online service is messed up.. As a new customer it has you go to the menu part and get your whole order put together then at the end you click on the button where it then asks you to create your account. You create your account and then suddenly your order is gone. Then there are restaurants like Typhoon where it says 'free delivery with coupon' yet no link to get a coupon. Upon using the online help feature I was able to get the coupon code, but c'mon it should have a link or come up when you are checking out. Next: I ordered an overpriced Thai meal from Typhoon (pad thai and appetizer combo for $30 and that's with free delivery and only 10% tip inclued). I ordered from there because it said ASAP 60 minutes for delivery. Well over an hour passes and I get a call saying the driver was running late because 'well things get busy on Saturday nights'. While I appreciated the call, using an excuse like that is so lame - don't promise 60 minutes if it's going to be 90. Duh. The caller said it'd be another 10 minutes and it was 20. The delivery person was creepy at best, and did not apologize for my meal being so late. I wouldn't have even taken the time to write a review, but then I opened my meal and everything was lukewarm at best. The pad thai had been sitting there for so long it was just one massive clump of noodles and the appetizer order was barely warm. Both items had to be reheated. So the driver being too busy obviously meant my meal did not go straight from the restaurant to my house, rather sat in a cold car or something for an extended time. Seriously disappointed and so if anyone orders from them again, I'd say at least withhold the automatic tipping on the website because there's no way after spending an inflated price for this meal that I would ever tip again, much less order from this service.

  • Michelle S.

My order was complete and about 20 minutes early. The driver was thoughtful enough to open one of the hot containers to keep the items from going soggy. That was a really good idea. The food was hot and exactly as I ordered. Next time I'm sick (like I am now) I will not hesitate to order from Delivered Dish. As for the dress code - well, it's as casual as you want it to be.

If it was possible to give no stars I would. I ordered dinner for my family while a relative was in the hospital. Our $75 order was given to some random person. I called to find out where my food was and they just made excuses. Never again will I use this service.

I am severely tempted to give this delivery service one star, but the fact remains that I am able to sit my lazy ass down in my comfy chair and order food from some pretty good restaurants. I am tempted to give them one star because: The delivery charges are a little steep, the food rarely gets to me in a timely matter, and it seems that while they are able to keep the food warm, it is almost always over-cooked by the time it gets to me due to the long delivery times and the food warmers they use. I don't know why I keep using them other than sheer laziness really, but I guess as long as I can maintain my sloth-like behavior I will be a valued customer of Delivered Dish.

We ordered Indian food from Namaste through Delivered Dish. Ordered (and paid for) utensils, plates, and serving spoons. We were in a hotel near the airport in NE Portland... food arrived on time. No utensils, serving spoons, napkins or plates. Called. I simply wanted a refund for the items not delivered (we could go downstairs at the hotel and get plates and utensils). No, they said the driver would be out with this stuff. OK, so 45 minutes we get a knock, the guy hands me a handful of plastic utensils and serving spoons and is down the hallway before I can say thank you. Still no plates. My advice - if you order anything from d-dish, don't use the 'leave the driver a tip' option when you purchase your meal. Make him (her?) wait there until you've gone through your order and you have what you paid for. Then tip them. They're in a bit of a hurry, but might stay long enough to check if everying is OK if they think they'll get some money out of it.

"Can you deliver happiness?", asks me. "Yes. Yes, we can.", answers delivered dish phone guy. Timely, efficient, delicious selection from all over Portland. For the non-chef's in us all this is our answer to "What's for dinner honey?". The answer my friends is whatever is on Delivered Dish's list of deliciousness. Go. Call now. Be given the best take out food Portland has to offer at your door, while wearing your old faded pajamas and that t-shirt from your work social function. Its a weeknight and you deserve it, because.... you're hungry and you're American.

Revising my previous review of 1 star to 3, had a MUCH better experience the second time around (though I'll have to give it one more shot before revising to 4 stars!) I ordered from Yuki's on 23rd for dinner last night, in advance, and not only did my order arrive exactly on time, but the prices were excellent for the quality and quantity of food delivered. I did find a code for free delivery online, which definitely helped (delivery fee was $6.49 without code). Looking forward to ordering again!

My only problem is the hours. I know that most pdx restaurants aren't open very late (especially on a Sunday, which is when I usually crave their services) but c'mon already! You're like Portland's only delivery service...you could be the service example for all the other little wanna be service companies that we know we'll need someday. Sigh. Till then I'll settle for Thai at 7pm instead of Steak at 9pm.

What? I haven't reviewed delivered dish yet? Well, allow me... D-DISH.com is my fallback plan on a cold, rainy, lazy Portland afternoon or evening when I simply can't face cooking, or don't have any good food to cook up (hard to believe as I seem to always buy twelve of everything and could probably survive for months off my pantry in a pinch...). It's especially nice when I just can't face leaving the house to go out again, but want me some tasty Portland vittles. I don't think their delivery list of choices is long enough--but there are some great standbys on there, and it is growing monthly. Pretty soon, (I HOPE) more of my Portland faves will be listed. In the 100+ restaurants now listed, I see mostly Mexican, Asian, a few Indian, Italian, and standby pizza and wings places on the list so far...I now see Portland Steak and Chophouse, and even Krispy Kreme and Zupan's as well. View the restaurant list at: d-dish.com/menu.html Delivery is not exactly cheap--usually $6-8 or so (but what price, convenience?), but oh so worth it when you need them there and don't mind paying extra to not have to leave your abode. It is the ultimate indulgence, the only thing that would be better is if Portland's best chefs showed up in my kitchen and cooked the meal for me fresh. Yeah...that's not gonna happen, so this is a close second. Sigh. I would give them five stars except a few times (more recently) they were way over schedule in sending the food I ordered and I had to call and check on them and they said it was held up at the restaurant (service tip - if this happens, call the customer first, don't make the hungry customer call you--surely the drivers have cell phones?), AND, I think their delivery rates are a tad high given they really are not driving that far. You can order food and view menus from their website, and even add the driver's tip onto your bill, and pay with credit card. You can even stay in your jammies if you are feeling super extra lazy (and, of course, depending on your version of "jammies "). Pushing five stars, though.

Delivered Dish is coming up in the world. I remember when the menu catalogue was newspaper and the flat delivery rate was $5.99. Alas, no mo. Delivery depends on how far out you are, ranging up to $8.99 (but with some options at $4.99). The fancy schmance new menu catalogue is shrunken and glossy. The selection to choose from is WIDE.. from Quizno's to Dragonfish. But not exactly deep. 79 restaurants participating, with the majority falling under the "Asian" catagory - 17; as opposed to "Indian" - 3; and "Seafood" - 1 (Dan and Louis Oyster Bar). But apparently they are adding other establishments often, such as the somewhat perplexing new addition, Zupans.. Regardless, Delivered Dish is a fantastic alternative to pizza, leftovers, and throwing something together. Just remember you'll be paying a delivery charge on top of the tip, plus food. I can dig this, since most of the time after work I am too slovenly to get the buns of the couch. Can I get an Amen?

Ok, so I still hate thie exhorbitant prices, the poor restaurant selection, and the way their food packaging means everything arrives cold half the time. But, in response to my last review, they credited my account $20 - a cool move. I definitely like it when a business treats its customers well like that. But if DD just looked at the way similar businesses functioned in New York or San Francisco ( seamlessweb.com or grubhubcom, for example), they would see just how much better DD could be. For one thing, get rid of the delivery charge! You already make restaurants charge more for the same items - sneakily stealing our money, so why show us just how much more of our money you are taking? Adding the delivery charge to the tip always makes me well aware that I am spending 30-40% more to have something delivered 1 mile and it pisses me off. In NYC a delivery fee is unheard of, so everyone gets food delivered. Portland: please make good restaurant delivery happen.

So here is the thing, I wouldn't use DD ever again because of the unprofessional behavior of their delivery people and the glaring health code violation that took place tonight. Frist the food was later then promised which is ok since you know I wasn't doing anything important or anything. But if a business promises that my food will arrive at a specific time I expect it to be there at that time. Anything else is unprofessional. Now here is where the REAL problem begin, the wrong order was delivered to my door when I discovered this error (about 10 min later) I called DD to alert them of this mishap and was told to keep the food and that the proper order was on it's way to me but that it would take about 15 more min. I was told to just keep the food, which is par for the course in the food industry because you can't take back food that has left the 'kitchen' or delivery person in this case. So 15 minutes pass and by this time it has been almost a half an hour since this mishap took place and the delivery person arrives with my order. To my surprise as she hands my order to me she demanded that I give back the other order(which at this point had already been eaten by my roommates) which shocked me. That was GROSS breach of health policy and customer service. She basically wanted to re-po food that had been sitting in a strangers house for HALF AND HOUR and go and serve it to the next poor schmuck who would have no idea that their food had essentially been contaminated. This would not an acceptable practice in a restaurant so why did this delivery person think that REPO-ING USED FOOD was ok?! I don't know if what the delivery person did is condoned by DD, or if they were just trying to salvage a bad situation. But you CAN'T just do that! I didn't even know if my food had perhaps been mis-delivred and sat in a strangers home where only god knows what could have been done to it before it was repo-ed and served to me. I couldn't even eat it just thinking about it. So in closing, if the thought of your meal being contaminated after being repo-ed doesn't bother you then by all means go ahead and use DD--BUT if you're seriously squicked about the thought of your food being RE-SERVED to you after someone else has hand their hands on it then learn from my $37.00 mistake and JUST GO TO THE RESTAURANT!!

I order from Delivered Dish on a regular basis for work. I deal with clients from all over the world who have usually been traveling for weeks on end and sometimes the food can make or break their day. The people who work at delivered dish are AMAZING. Sometimes, when I have no internet to browse the menus myself and need a suggestion ASAP I call and they never fail to direct me to great food. Delivered Dish is great when you're not wanting to leave the house. Lots of restaurants to chose from. There was a 75 minute delivery time and they got here under an hour. The driver was nice and friendly and the food was hot. 4-9 delivery charge, but seems appropriate/worth it. Great service, would recommend to anyone.

I got a chance to use delivered dish again and I did enjoy it more this time around. The food was delivered exactly during the time they said they were going to, the deliver dude was nice and personable, and the food was good. I recently tried Delivered Dish for the first time and am very happy with their services. I am currently living out of the country and with just a few clicks I was able to send dinner to my grandmother for her birthday. It was fun being able to watch exactly when the delivery was made and then call her soon after to find out how her dinner was. I'm happy to say the food was very good and piping hot when it arrived.

We tried Delivered Dish for the first time and found it very satisfying. The online ordering is so easy and our food arrived within an hour and was still hot. I look forward to ordering again! I also look forward to seeing new restaurants added to the list.

They have all been super helpful, like today for example I spoke with John and we planned an order which ended up being wrong and not what my clients wanted.

I tried their service again, after a couple of years very limited delivery options in North Portland, and I have to say, they really seem to have things together now. I have probably used them ten time this year, and ever single time food arrives HOT and in well under an hour. It's still a little expensive. At least $8.95 for delivery and then a tip on top of that. I certainly wouldn't pay it if it wasn't great service, therefore I hereby revise my crappy review.

I have been using this company for over five years and have spent well over a thousand dollars with this company! Within those five years the service has been excellent yes sometimes you do have to wait longer then expected for your order to arrive but all in all it was ok. However tonight I went online and placed an order with a Mexican restaurant and the order went through I got an email confirmation and my card was charged. Five minutes later I receive a phone call from Delivered Dish and they say the restaurant you placed your order for is temporarily closed and isn't available. So I said okay can we just place an order at a different restaurant? Then they say yes but we will have to charge card again. So that means I will have two charges on my card and it will take roughly three days until the first charge returns into my account? I asked her. She goes yes and there is nothing I can do for you for the inconvenience. I asked her so even with my second order you can't just let the charge go through and I order for the same amount? She says no. Then I asked her how is it even possible to place an order with a company that is closed? She says I am not sure it was supposed to be disabled on our website but for some reason it went through. I was on the phone with her for about 10 minutes and in those 10 minutes nothing got resolved not even a manager gets on the phone I just flat out told her if there's nothing you can do for me you just lost a very long time customer and I will never recommend the company to anyone ever again. She says sorry to hear that. I have still yet to get a phone call from her manager or even the owner to try to get my business back as a customer so obviously they don't care about their customers or even their own company.

After being here in Portland a bit longer and trying some other services, I have to update my review: Con: So expensive. The delivery fees are so high, and then you are expected to tip your drivers on top of that. It adds up to a lot of money. Delivery fees vary per restaurant too, so maybe you finally found a place you want, but then they are charging an absurd delivery fee. The user experience is just not great. They have a lot of restaurants you can order from, but sorting through them and finding what you want is kind of a hassle. Finding a place with the right combination of what you're hungry for, distance, fees, etc. is just a pain. Pro: Tons of options. Any kind of food you want, they probably have. I think it's a pain having to wade through crap like Togo's and Krispy Kreme -- (seriously, who is paying a premium price to get cheap, chain, fast food delivered?) -- but if you like options, this place has you covered. Final: After trying a few delivery services, Caviar is my favorite one -- I like the pricing structure better and picking what to order is simpler. I only use Delivered Dish when I want something that Caviar's limited selection of restaurants doesn't have.

I am DONE with this place. Two reasons: 1. They take FOREVER (2+hours both times) 2. Both times they double charged my debit card!!! The duplicate charge fell off three days later, but it tied up my bank funds for three days. The first order was over a hundred dollars so that was quite inconvenient. I still can't figure out why they are double charging debit cards. PAIN and not worth it.

Ok I am finally done using these folks, it is just not worth it. The last two times I have ordered online my meals have been late as in hours late. I got a credit, whoo hoo I would rather have my food arrive hot or at least lukewarm. Last time my order was 2 HOURS late, no apology, just excuses, "they are really busy on the Westside", well that is not my problem, staff appropriately. The time before that, it was also quite late and lukewarm, the delivery person apologized profusely for the lukewarm food. I am getting differing stories, the delivery guy on the 2nd to last order said he was called to pick up my order really late. The last time, the delivery dude was at the Restaurant waiting on them? I highly doubt a Chinese place is that busy on a weeknight. I call BS. One other annoyance is that they rarely get any new businesses to sign up, same old same old restaurants. Sorry guys you have finally lost my business for good.

It's high time we PDX-dwellers got a taste of some of those big-city style amenities, such as a wide variety of food delivered to our hungover, hobbled or otherwise shut-in selves. Why go out for gourmet mac & cheese when you can enjoy it the way god intended: Alone and unshowered in a dark, cluttered room, wearing cat-hair encrusted pajamas? Delivered Dish makes such epicurean delights possible. It's true that Delivered Dish is no Seamless: Delivery times are widely variable and options are less than exhaustive. But Portland ain't New York - we're a lot bigger, geographically-speaking, and a lot less densely populated. This presents logistical challenges to the food delivery start-up. But DD conquers them with determination and aplomb - even delivering cheerfully to my east side hovel. The way they're going, I'm sure they'll work out some kinks and soon, I'll be eating all my meals out of cardboard take-out boxes, hunched over a milk-crate coffee table behind blackout curtains like the winner my mom says I am.

We have used Delivered Dish successfully in the past but then didn't use them for a number of years. In the last two weeks we've used them twice. Both times our order arrived well.past the hour we were cited ( but DD called us to tell us how long), and both times a portion of our order was missing ( garlic bread in one case and a nigiri in the other). In the case of the sushi, the warm and cold foods were packed together so the sushi was not chilly. Yuk. The second delivery was from a nearby bar and grill, all hot food and the tater tots were still surprisingly crispy. Nevertheless, this isn't a bad way to get food delivered ( especially if you get a coupon code to cover the delivery charge) on a friday night when you don't wanna cook, leave the house, and you have tv and couch with a drink on your mind. Just order early if you prefer not to be eating at 9pm and you're golden. If only they delivered margaritas.....

Lol.

Wow.. May I say that driver was smelling like he was drinking. I wasn't happy with the service, the food was cold. I am pretty much done with them. I am pretty upset about this. Seriously what a waste of 40 dollars and the time. Again the food was cold :(

Awsome !!

I can't even believe this company. My order took OVER 2 hours. When the driver finally showed up, he looked higher than a kite on 4/20. I paid extra to receive biodegradable utensils and plates, but the items that came were definitely NOT.

Terrible and slow. 2 hours for the food to be delivered after providing an estimate of 45 mins.

Great service! We just used Delivered Dish for the first time for work lunch. The driver was earlier than expected and very friendly, ordering was a breeze online, all of our food came with our individual names on it and nothing about the order was incorrect.
