Diabetics at Whataburger

Diabetics need to be a bit cautious while dining at Whataburger. Almost every burger is rich in sodium content and it is highly recommended to keep your burger cravings in control while dining at Whataburger. However, you can always satisfy your cravings for a burger by choosing Whataburger Jr. or other non-burger items from the menu.

Foods to Avoid at Whataburger for Diabetics:

A diabetic should resist from ordering any extra meat-based burger such as Double Meat Whataburger or Triple Meat Whataburger to limit the sodium intake and calories. Most burgers except the Whataburger Jr. are high in sodium and hence should be avoided.

If you are a diabetic, you should also avoid Honey BBQ Chicken Strip Sandwich and Whataburger Patty Melt at Whataburger. Chicken Fajita Taco is also off-limits for diabetics. You must also avoid Breakfast Platter and Pancake Platter from the menu. Pancakes and Cinnamon Roll from the breakfast menu are also off-limits for diabetics.

High Cholesterol at Whataburger

Calorie intake is the main concern for people with high cholesterol while dining at a fast-food restaurant like Whataburger. Well, you can always try the Lighter & Smaller options from the menu to cut down your fat intake. Opting for grilled sandwich or burgers are preferred compared to double meat or triple meat cheesy burgers which contain high cholesterol.

Foods to Avoid at Whataburger for High Cholesterol

Cut down on your meat intake to control your high cholesterol. You must skip Double Meat Whataburger and Triple Meat Whataburger at all costs. Whatacatch Dinner may sound tempting but the famous fish sandwich is also full of calories and unhealthy fat. Her name was Mary, her nametag said so, and she wins my award for the most uncaring, inept and least motivated Burgerville employee I have ever met. She delivered the order to our table with all the enthusiasm of a bassett hound on thorazine, but moved slower. One of us had tomato on our burger and one did not, so we checked the insides of our (hardly) Colossal Cheeseburgers, and one had tomato... the butt end of it, an actual end cut complete with stem! Then, just when you think it couldn't get any worse we took the Tax Deduction to the bathroom. It looked like a bathroom shortly after the Katrina floodwaters receeded, but didn't quite smell as good. Both Men and Women's rooms were equally nausiating. The fries were a little limp, the burger was hastily thrown together. The people that we were there with said that this particular Burgerville is always like this. I asked why they come back? I won't, to this branch anyway.

Burgerville is the best fast food from a sustainable sources, locally grown, organic... on and on the green earth goes. Delicious.

My favorite time of year at Burgerville is late October, when both sweet potato fries and raspberry milkshakes are in season.... sweet heaven. Service has been hit or miss here (once we were serenaded by a particularly boisterous order-taker at the counter, while once we were served at our table by school children working a fundraiser), and the food quality/freshness can vary, but is usually pretty satisfying. For the franchise in general and this place in particular, I have to give the love. Local flavor is what you get -- some is the kind that you pay for, and some of it just comes with the territory. That said, while sometimes I go in to this one, I usually drive through.

Ate here today and was very disappointed. The burger patties had no seasoning, they were also cold, the fries where limp and cold. The service was ok but really miss in and out in Vegas. Need to find a buyer joint comparable.

In town visiting a couple of friends and one of them has been my partner in crime over the last 12 years on the search for excellent milkshakes. So when I got into town, they were talking about how this was the last weekend for the five dollar chocolate hazelnut milkshake. All I had to hear was "five dollar" and "shake" and I was there. Fought through 8 blocks of 2pm Saturday Powell Blvd traffic to get to my shake and damn...that was a long commute. Must be the only road in and out of town or something. Anyhoo, got my shake and damn near had an aneurysm trying to suck down this thing. Damn good shake even though I don't love hazelnut. Should've stuck with the old reliable litmus of chocolate but I'll be back. Service was awesome! I gotta find the receipt to see if the it has the guy's name on it but he was about the nicest guy I've seen in a joint like this in ages. 5 on service but for the shake I'll say 4. Still couldn't match to the 1999 NYC Times Square All Star Cafe chocolate shake which still holds the crown after all these years.

These are by far the worst burgers i have ever had. I've seen that some people compare them to In&Out....really?!?! The meat "patty" is the thickness of a piece of cardboard! There's no flavor and the people there are not helpful in any way. I'm not even sure the guy was listening to us when we were placing our order. I had to repeat myself the whole time. I went with two other people and they felt the same way. i will NEVER go back to a Burgerville. I wouldn't even care if it was my last option on the planet. I'd rather eat dirt. Eating there was the most disappointing experience i've ever had with a burger place. No Thanks.

Burgerville is Oregon's answer to California's In-N-Out. And best of all, they are so eco-conscious and environmentally friendly. So much so, that I was confused by which bin I was supposed to dispose of my trash. The prices are a little bit high, but there's also no tax so it's not as bad. The thing I like most about these burgers is that they use quality cheeses and the fact that the beef actually tastes like a non-franchise burger patty. A big fan of spicy burgers, I got the pepper bacon cheeseburger. It's great because you could actually taste the peppercorn. I am also a big fan of their fries, which tastes so much better than any fast food fries I've had. Burger King would come in a close second, but these fries are crispy, but also clean and natural tasting.

I've got to set the record straight on this particular Burgerville. I had almost given up on the franchise, because of inconsistent quality, high prices and slow service at their other Portland-area location. Everything changed when I discovered this Burgerville, just off Powell and West of 205. My experiences have been consistently excellent here... the people that work here really seem to care, and you can really taste the difference in the food. Well-cooked fries. Burgers that aren't overcooked or mashed together. This is how every Burgerville should be. I like Burgerville's commitment to local, high quality ingredients. The prices are high, but when done right, its well worth the premium over the normal, crappy, soul-less fast food joints.

Hands down the WORST Burgerville I have ever visited. We have lived within a mile of this location for 7 years, and we do all that we can to avoid it. We drive out of our way because the food is SO BAD at the 92nd and Powell BV. I can't tell you the number if times that we have gotten half cooked burgers (RED in the middle!!) or undercooked fries. The burger patties always have nasty black stuff from the grill stuck to them (dirty grill), and I always joke that they have someone sit on the burgers before they serve them because they are ALWAYS really squished. I am not sure why and I have never had that happen at another BV. Also, the fryer oil is not changed frequently enough and the fries are ALWAYS nasty and dark in color, even when they are thoroughly cooked. We LOVE Burgerville, it is the only fast food restaurant that we frequent. We spend about $100 per month there. But we avoid 92nd and Powell even though we are just down the street. I wonder how many people think Bugerville sucks because this location is so bad? Too bad because the food is really great when it is done right!

Every single time I go here they forget something from my order when I use the drive through.

  • Edmund W.

I was at the convention center downtown and needed something quick to eat. Burgerville was fast; however, the burgers and fries are pretty ORDINARY. The burgers and the side of fries for the combo order was small. I would say the quality is similar to In N Out but a couple bucks more expensive.

  • Beth H.

HOORAY!!! They finally sell GLUTEN FREE buns for their burgers! Happiness :)

  • Jacob V.

For being local they get an extra star & supporting local farmers. Problem is the flavor is sporatic sometimes delicous sometimes sup-par. If your hungry & in a pinch though & want the "well its semi-healthy" peace of mind go aheah & get yur drive-thru on.

    (3)
  • Jody J.

If you want good quality natural beef, chicken or fish in a drive-through your choice is Burgerville. Burgerville also supports and they purchase from local farmers. Only in the Pacific NW. The Burgerville burger spread is so good that they now sell it in jars. :-) The Walla Walla onion rings are delicious when they are in season. The quality of the halibut in the fish and chips and sandwich is better than most nice restaurants. The burgers are delicious as well. Shakes and smoothies are scrumptious, especially when berries are in season. Can't go wrong here if you're looking for fast fresh and natural in the drive-through.

  • Elizabeth G.

Best Burgerville in Portland because they have an EV Quick Charger that is consistently working. The Walla Walla Onion Rings are phenomenal! The service is quick and they always ask if I want the sauce, which vegans don't want. This is so ECO Friendly Portland not to waste the Ranch on us.

Yes, there are many other- better- places for a milkshake, but there I was on Powell at I205 and there was BV. Then came the biggest decision I'd made in the last 10 minutes...chocolate/banana or chocolate/espresso shake. OOO but they have fresh strawberries too! Then brilliance hit me (only for a second) I asked. .. could you? would you? put some strawberries in my chocolate banana milkshake? I waited for a pregnant pause, a stutter, a year long silence or maybe a confused Charlie Brown's mother "waaha wa wa wa?" but no.. the microphone said 'Sure!' gezzz a moly. Around to the window I went... could it be? Was it that easy? Did they have an easy button on the cash register? I thought this would confound them but no.. out came my chocolate, banana strawberry milkshake ala almost a banana split in a cup. Oh yes, I was delighted. So I tried it again today in Vancouver but I MIXED IT UP A BIT... "could I get a chocolate banana shake with ESPRESSO in it?" "SURE" wala! who knew!!!! Am I the last to know this?? Dear lord , this knowledge will be a test for my jeans.

Burgerville is really really good, but very expensive! I do like going on occasion. I spend a lot more. $$ at other fast food. Regardless they have a similar quality to Dairy Queen.

So was just in Bv on the way back from the river with a friend. My friend really likes to stop there after a day in the sun and it in. Some guy w a baby stroller with baby Rams into my heel twice while I'm ordering and says my ass is hanging out of my shorts. Clearly he was intoxicated in some way, I tell him to stop and he says what will I do and I say I'll call the police. At which time the Bv cashier says we will both have to go if we don't settle down. The man is shuffling around and approaches my friend at I at our booth and starts going off about how I am rude ect. We tell him to walk away. He calls us faggots. My friend screams leave and pushes him. manager comes out and intervenes. Police called ect. I know this is a dicey location and the manager did eventually do the right thing but I don't feel safe going there.

I love their food, but hate the drive through! Today I waited 10 minutes for a milkshake. Twice before - same thing! Why can't a decent chain like Burgerville figure out a way to move the drive thru orders a little quicker?

    (2)
  • Jerry M.

OK, first of all, I do admire the Burgerville USA chain because they are a local area company that is committed to sustainable practices and locally sourced products. That's great, but let's discuss their food. I know some people make a big deal about how special and unforgettable their hamburgers are. Well, I think their burgers taste OK, but really aren't that much different from most other fast food burgers. I can get a decent comparable burger at other places rather easily. However, the area where they REALLY STAND OUT is the seasonal specials they have. . .especially fresh strawberry shortcakes, Walla Walla sweet onion rings, and fried asparagus spears. Today I went to my "home" Burgerville USA location at SE 92nd and Powell to have my first strawberry shortcake of the season. It was wonderful. They usually make it with ice cream, but you can substitute with frozen yogurt if you'd like. I like that they make the shortcake using a biscuit (instead of pound cake) because I prefer the crumbly texture of a biscuit and how it soaks up the strawberry juices. An added bonus was that the guy asked if I wanted whipped cream on it too, and of course I did. Anyway, I see that their Walla Walla sweet onion rings will be available soon, so I'll be back.

  • Savannah Veronica J.

Quite possibly the best drive thru staff ever. I didn't have to repeat anything, the operator listened to me, and did not interrupt (which is a HUGE thing for me). The food was super hot, fresh, and ready to go. Things that were supposed to be hot were hot, and things that were cold were cold. I really enjoyed the seasonal waffle fries! Amazing! Something that should be year round! Great job guys!

  • Kal C.

I'm starting to want to dump Burgerville, but I haven't found a similar replacement yet. So expensive. Sodium-laden salads. Cardboard fries at lunch time. Teenage angst. Meh.

    (2)
  • Jamie C.

I feel lucky to not have experienced any of the problems the other yelpers posted. The drive through moved quickly. Did not wait long at the window to get the food. Lady seemed nice and helpful. The only thing I ask is they put an umbrella at the ordering box. I am sick of getting soaked everytime i want to order a tillamook cheeseburger.

    (4)
  • Matt F.

I did not like BV at first. I was use to the flavor of other drive thru joints but now I I like how BV burgers have a natural flavor. They aren't poisoned with the artificial flavors added to other drive thru food. I am also surprised how much I enjoy the bean burgers. I dont understand why people complain about the price. You're only paying maybe an extra buck and you are getting more natural food, and supporting a local business and local farmers. I prefer Lil Big Burger or Five Guys for a burger but for a drive through, BV is the only place I go.

My weekly order is a bean burger and fries. The seasonal Rosemary shoestring fries are oily but onions ring are good.

As a native my family has loved BV for as long as I can remember. I can't say I'll be in a hurry to continue going to this location. Almost every time we've come in the past year they've mad a mistake with our order, from forgetting the fries to giving us the completely wrong order more than once. Most recently I had to go back in for the correct order and while the employees were nice enough about it, they were slow and seemed confused. It took an extra five or ten minutes and by the time I got home and we sat down the eat, the food wasn't warm. The cheese wasn't even melted on the burgers even though they told me the wait was so they could fresh grill the burgers. If those burgers were fresh the cheese wouldn't have been cold and hard. Very sad.

  • Kelly S.

The best burger place in the Northwest. It's been a part of my life for most of my 55 years. I appreciate their commitment to local farms and farmers. The food is a little more expensive but it is worth it for knowing they use the best ingredients. It is one "fast food" place I can bring my grandkids. They have GF buns and offer apples instead of fries. BV is a tradition I hope to pass on!

  • Tina T.

Normally, I love Burgerville, but the wait at this location is terrible, and they always seem to mess up my order just enough that I don't want to bother going back to fix it. For an almost $5 shake, it shouldn't have a gradient effect (from not being mixed properly -- after waiting more than 10 minutes for it) and it should have whipped cream. If it were a one time thing, no big deal, but this type of thing seems to happen all the time at this location.

    (2)
  • Paul T.

Burgerville is great, don't get me wrong. But this particular one is terrible. Good food, absolutely poor service and customer service. 20 minutes waiting for a Tillamook cheeseburger, before I finally asked for a refund. An apology was all I got. Not the first time this has happened. Definitely won't be returning to this location.

This is the worst.. Burgerville. I went there a few months ago and actually am amazed I went back.. I was hoping it was just a fluke. But, no.. All around bad service. Bad food. Cold food. Bad attitudes. Manager looked unclean and was unfriendly. Burgerville is expensive. And for paying the higher price they charge. Your food should be at least hot and made well. I will never go back to this location again. Ever. Oh... and they are so slow. And annoyed when I requested a receipt. WOW! RUDE.

Worst Burgerville in Portland. Every time we eat here, our meal is wrong or comes to us with soggy buns from either grease or condensation. Today we went in the early evening and waited at the counter for 5 minutes while 10+ employees just meandered around the restaurant without even acknowledging us. Finally we ordered and went to find a table, all of them were dirty. One table in the middle of the restaurant was clean but the chairs were covered in crumbs and greasy fingers smudges. Meanwhile, all of the employees are standing around talking to each other, not tending to the disgusting mess of a store. When we were leaving, there was a giant glob of ketchup on the floor that had already been stepped in and tracked out the door. We also stepped in the ketchup, slipping. Still no employee bothered to clean it up. Gross store and lazy employees.

Burgerville was practically a part of my childhood, yet only in a landmark sense seeing as I never had any of the food. It was only until I moved away from the Pacific Northwest did I realize there were so many things about the area I never got to experience due to my own snobby reasons - incredible local favorites like Oregon beer, Pacific seafood, and finally, Burgerville. It was here at this location where I finally popped my Burgerville cherry. It wasn't just the "local" eatery aspect that got me to come back. Aside from the disbelief from local friends had when I told them I'd never eaten at a Burgerville, it was the intrigue of what I had heard: locally sourced, in-state grown ingredients, sustainable corporate conduct, and food so good that it's often called the In-N-Out of the Northwest (and often times part of a growing a debate about which was better). Without question, the food is good, especially along the fast food totem pole. I'm not sure if it's on the top, but anyone who tries their seasonal shakes may be inclined to give it more leeway. The burgers themselves are good with the added placebo effect with their hormone and antibiotic free beef. I think my favorite is their fish sandwich, which is usually wild Alaskan halibut, crispy and hearty with every bite. And often times the separation factor for all fast food locations is the service. Burgerville on 92nd is pretty consistent as far as these kind of joints go, which has generally been good. The drive through is still relatively quick and painless and the restaurant itself is always very clean. The free wifi is a bonus for the "I don't feel like going to Starbucks" crowd. If they could open later than 12AM, that'd be swell. If the neighboring Taco Bell and Carl's Jr can do it, certainly this Burgerville can make the exception.

I normally have no probs here but tonight they were way off their game. Took 15min for a milkshake with only one car ahead and none behind...slow inside as well. The shake wasn't even mixed halfway and then that floor.....

Terrible. Whoever the girl working the drive thru was the worst! I was placing my order and the girl kept cutting me off.. Like she knew what I was about to order next. And had the worst attitude ever! I left after placing my order. Didn't even get up to the windows. Oh well.. Guess I'll have to drive to the glisan location.

I LOVE Burgerville, but will not return to the Powell and 92nd Burgerville. I am sad to write that we had a horrible experience tonight where we were forgotten at Burgerville. Our order was taken by a young employee who had a flat affect, a no-one-home look as if she was stoned. I ordered 24$ of food for me and my sweetheart, and it was a slow night where there were only three tables of other customers who arrived after we did. The worker who took our order came out to deliver food to those who had been in line behind us. She did not hear me or see me when finally i waved and called to her from our booth. When I returned to the counter after waiting forever, I asked why the all people who arrived after us were not only fed but were finishing up their dinners -- and we had even been given ours. The workers were stunned. With dropped open mouths, the workers could not find our order on the screen or in the kitchen. The one who took it disappeared into the back when the other workers all asked who had taken the order. I had not received a receipt but had our number card and had to ask for my money back. The manager had to look to find our order in one register and that first register would not process my refund, so the manager Jose had to process a cash refund for me on a second register. Instead of being told, "I am sorry, let us make it right," we were told our order "was bumped, and that happens sometimes. " I told them that if it happens even once, that is a problem, and since it reportedly happens more than once there is a BIG problem with the system. No apologies, no help, nothing, so my sweetheart told them we will never return and tonight's non-dinner will be posted on Facebook. We left, hungry.

Yup. I know it's a sin to eat fast food! Let alone YELP it. I kinda remember eating the Original Cheese Burger before. So for my quest i had to try them again. (I'm trying to not eat fast food at all. (cuz it's not right)) Honestly... It wasn't bad. It was... good. Granted The Original Cheese Burger is simple. Only bun, meat, cheese, Burgerville Sauce (Burgerville Sauce. Smergerville Sauce. It's a type of 1000 Island Dressing. I'm guessing.) & 2 small pickle chips. (Not any good.) Why they even pretend "with the pickle" is strange. It's more of an insult. either way, for what it was and where i got it. I liked it. Will i go back just for this burger.... No Comment! (Will i hate myself if i do? Yes!) At least i know what it taste like. I would have given you 3 stars but it's fast food and i won't do it!

Apparently Burgerville is the place to go for great burgers in the PDX area because 1) they're local 2) they care about the environment 3) cater to all your specific needs...at least this is what I was told when I moved out here. So alas, I found myself finally trying this yummy goodness people were ranting about. Well I'm sad to report my friends that it really isn't worth all the hype that it gets. Honestly I just felt it was overpriced for a mediocre burger and fries. Yes it gets points for not tasting like most fast food joints but really I thought it was on the same level as Red Robin for expensive & semi-processed food, though they claim to be fresh. I really wanted to like this place more since they're everywhere but I couldn't wrap my head around the cost of my meal plus I wanted melted cheese on my burger - is that too much to ask? Kudos to them for supporting their hometown and trying to save the planet but I rather eat at Sonic to save a buck and get the same type of meal. Now if Steak n Shake moves out to PDX, I'm there!

This Burgerville knocks the socks off of the one up on Glisan and 82nd, making it my new go-to when I'm in the mood for fast food (which is not really all that often). Burgerville is pretty much the only fast food (in the classic, drive-thru sense) I can get down with anymore (aside from In n Out, that is). Locally-sourced natural, seasonal products, sustainable practices, and pretty decent tasting food combine to put B-ville at the top of the fast-food-chain-chain. Their beef is Oregon Country Beef, their turkey is Diestel, and each month they have a few new specials based on what's in season. Dig it. I've had turkey burgers, beef burgers, and veg burgers from this location, and they're not only cooked and assembled well, but they don't come out all smashed and gnarled up like the meals from the Glisan/82nd location do. As far as fast food burgers go, this Burgerville definitely scores well every time I visit.
