The perfect place to cure a hang over! Went for brunch on a Sunday, though didn't need a cure. Enjoyed building my own breakfast sandwich which was filling and tasty but needed about 8 napkins to accommodate the excessive greasiness and became a bit of a turn off by soaked napkin number 5. Absolutely loved the Sunday mimosa special! Prices are reasonable for the healthy portions of sinfully delicious comfort brunch, but know going into it there is nothing healthy about it.

Pretty impressed. Certainly not your run of the mill burger joint. The burgers and chicken sandwiches are both pretty tasty, and nothing approaches the mundane. The loaded fries are really big though, so definitely plan on sharing. The place is smallish but very straightforward. It's about the burgers, not the ambience. And it's very reasonable for what you get. Perhaps next time I can get the courage to try the burger with grilled cheese sandwiches for buns. I'm full just thinking of it!

So, I really don't know what a brunch box is....but I can tell you they can make a good cheeseburger at one. I had the super fatso burger between two grilled cheese sandwiches. I could almost feel myself get fatter. It's delicious.

Visiting from Honolulu, found this place on Yelp. Delicious burgers! Great service! Had the trail by fire burger, spicy but not over bearing. Definitely coming back.

With a menu full of such creative burger combinations, I felt a bit bad opting for the Build Your Own Burger option, but the result was great. Fantastic burger, great fries. My kid ordered a hot dog, and I was impressed with the quality of even that (it was big, so I got a few bites). In hindsight...I wish I had chosen one of the weirder menu options...definitely next time! The only downside - small place, not many tables inside.

Food is very tasty and decent value, but they have this practice of grilling the bagels for breakfast sandwiches on the grill and using a weight to hold it down to warm. They would be much better off just buying a toaster instead as who wants to eat a grease covered bagel sandwich - it is incredibly messy to eat. Flavors outstanding, great choices, but too much grease on the outside of the sandwich. I hate to give a fair review to an establishment with good food and service, but this would improve the product big time.

    best hangover food, ever

It was my first time there and I thought I really walked into heaven. I ordered the You Can Has Cheeseburger which comes in between two grilled cheese sandwiches. It was so delicious and so worth the money! I couldn't finish it so I ended up taking it home but it was awesome. There wasn't a line when we came in and our food was served up pretty fast. I love that they have free water there too - saves me a buck or two!

Whoa, whoa, whoa. Hold on a second. I will have you know, Brunch Box, that I don't work that far away from here. In fact, I walk to this area for lunch just about on the regular. And you, you conniving connoisseurs of all things meaty and toasty, had to go and add this brick and mortar shop? In my house? I don't need to know that there is the possibility of stacking up a savory, tasty, meaty, burger anyway I want, with all my favorite bits in it, including my beloved aardvark, surrounded by a pillowy-yet-toasty-happy texas toast power duo, just up the road. I don't need to know that my favorite BLT I have ever put in my mouth, with lots-but-not-too-much fully legit crispy bacon and happy tomatoes, is just sitting here waiting for me at a perfectly reasonable price that belies the now-present roof over my head. You're telling me that I can have a grilled cheese for lunch for under three bills? Well that's just mean. If I am left to give into my new urges and start coming in here whenever the idea pops into my head, I won't be able to fit in your fancy front door! You may give me a coronary after a few more trips here, but man, what a way to go.

One word: OMG Coming here after brew fest was the best. idea. ever. It was hot. We were hangry. Give us foods. And yes, Brunch Box, you delivered. I went all out and ordered the OMG burger. Cheese, bacon, ham, spam, egg, grilled onions...seriously. If you're gonna eat a burger ya might as well just go for the gold. Hell, it was my cheat day....and it was goooooood. The burger was the size of my head I swear, but that didn't stop me. I tore into that thing like nobody's business. Oh, and the fries...even those were pretty tasty. Our whole table went quiet as we devoured the delicious burgers. Beer...they have it. Wan't a turkey or veggie patty? They've got that too. Prices are fair. $8 for my OMG burger was not bad at all. Staff is friendly. The place isn't huge but there's seating and it's clean. Score. Do I remember my meal?? Just enough to know that it was one of the best darn burgers I've had in Portland. Thanks BEER! I thought about taking a photo....but alas my hunger got the best of me. Greasy goodness. I will return....oh yes, I will return.....

I was so very excited to try out these novelty burgers, unfortunately, novelty is all they were. My husband and I both had cheeseburgers with Texas toast grilled cheese sandwiches as the bun and added a fried egg. The burger itself was hardly seasoned and fell short. The egg did nothing for the cheeseburger, and tasted as though they forgot to add the salt and pepper. With all of the rage for this place, I was quite disappointed :(

Awesome food. Fast service. We ordered Firebird and Lumberjack. They were delish!! It's quite small place though, only 5 tables.

Everything I've tried here is good! The grilled cheese, chicken strips, burger. Fast food preparation and great prices. Love the happy hour menu as well. Will continue to go back whenever I'm in town.

We visited the brunch box on a recommendation by a Portland local and we're not disappointed. I had the BLT, and thought about making the bread into grilled cheese, as they offer that kind of thing, but decided against it. I was certainly not dissatisfied, and ate what turned out to be the best BLT I have ever eaten. My wife had the omelette sandwich and kept remarking on how delicious it was. We will definitely be returning some time in the future! While it was a cool atmosphere, I did dock a star due to extremely limited seating, and recommend you order to go or before arriving.

Like burger your way? Brunch Box is your place. Not best burger in city but darn good. Burger beer under $10. Sometimes line big so avoid lunch and dinner right at noon or six. Tasty, quick and good music.

Love this cart as whenever I need cheering up, a delicious lil'mo with an egg is all I need. These guys are fast and consistent. Well worth the price every time!

Yum! What a great idea. I will be back for breakfast as I just got dinner. I had the cordon bleu sandwich. Basically a fried chicken burger with onions, cheese, and mustard. The prices are decent, there are some great drinks, and lots of options. I recommend this place, but if you are trying to be healthy this might not be the place for you.

Do it, you won't regret it. They have two types of cards for their customers, one card for the people that like the customize their orders and another for people that are on a mission to eat the burgers that are already set on the menu, and boy is that already a challenge itself. Let's start off, the shop is really small, has about enough room for a couple parties, probably no more than 8 people could sit down and enjoy the monstrously that they are about to engulf on. The staff is really friendly and they wouldn't mind talking to you while your order is being made, I wasn't ready to jump on the train and choose something off the menu, I decided to make my own burger, I got Texas toast, with the patty and all the free toppings, and added a hash brown, egg, aardvark sauce and jalapeños for an even more kick after eating the aardvark sauce. I sat down to enjoy my food, and I liked it so much I got myself a stamp card and I will come back to make more beautiful creations of food! Be warned though... It's super fattening, and if you're not ready for it, it's like a heart attack waiting to happen any moment after you finish, so make sure you aren't about to eat anything after this and you either take a nice long rest or you should go run and be part of the Portland marathon to burn off all the calories you just consumed.

I was a fan of the food cart version of Brunchbox, but often wanted fries with my burger. (If they had them at the cart, they weren't on the menu, and I never saw a fryer, so I just assumed they didn't have them.) The brick-and-mortar Brunchbox has all the tasty burgers that the cart has, but it also has french fries, milk shakes, indoor seating, and adult beverages. So basically, awesome with awesome sauce and a side of cholesterol. My arteries may hate me for it, but I'll be back.

    (4)
  • Gennie H.

I fantasize about the Slaughterhouse IV on a regular basis. Not only is the food awesome, the staff is abnormally peppy for a burger joint. Hopefully one day soon they'll open a brick and mortar with more seating.

  • Monica T.

So I've been here about a half a dozen times so far. The food is great. Great selection of sandwiches to order from. You can mix and customize your order to whatever you life. The staff is really nice and happy to help you select your order. There have limited seating inside, but there's outside seating too. Why not 5 stars? It's not a place I could eat at more then once a month or so. If your a health food nut...this is not the place for you. No salads here.

    (4)
  • Julie T.

Sickening and delicious at the same time. You will be repulsed by your inner glutton as you think about the cholesterol bomb you just finished with the "You Can Has" cheeseburger. Meanwhile, your taste buds will be swimming in a sea of delicious hamburger ecstasy.

  • Summer L.

I love this place. I do the build your own sandwich and get fried chicken on Texas toast with pickles and ketchup. Reminds me of the south. Ultimate comfort food. Employees are friendly too. I would bring out of town guests here for lunch, for sure.

  • Lizzy A.

Wow. Is it because I'm exhausted and starving or is this the best burger and shake I've ever had? Thai bacon burger. So good. So friendly. So affordable. I'm considering moving to portland based on this place.

  • Eric S.

We went to the brunch box food truck. They had a 50% off foursquare deal and that drew us there. We ordered a black and blue burger that I gave nearly 3 stars to. It was messy, but blended nicely. It had good blue cheese flavor like you would expect. My wife ordered the Thai Bacon Burger. She is a vegetarian and got it minus the bacon and subbed in the vege burger. She gave it 3 stars because the vege patty was not awesome. She also said that the jalepeno was hot (she expected that though) The flavors of the peanut sauce and the grilled pinapple blended well she said.

  • Jason T.

Weird. Cool. Awesome! I had a chance to check out Brunchbox on 9th during my lunch break! It definitely gets busy here during lunch time, not your average place to dine but its fantastic. I would suggest grabbing a sandwich/burger and heading out to the Teacher's Fountain behind Nordstrom to inhale your awesome burger. This time, I tried the Outlaw--let me just say, toast and bacon never tasted so good! Brunchbox did not disappoint!

    (4)
  • Madame M.

Affordable.......YES Delicious.........ABSOLUTELY Variety............PLENTY Healthy??............ NO WAY I still love it anyway. Just need to run for an hour to aleviate the guilt I feel from enjoying a buttery, cheesy, bacony, omelet breakfast sandwich I had for breakfast. Will I be back???....YEP, right before I go to the gym of course.

This place is stellar! A veritable burger nirvana where one can dance in guilty pleasures. I had the Youcanhascheesbuger and washed it down with an IPA. Outstanding. Affordable! Atmosphere is chill enough that you'll be happy to woof your burger down off of a rustic log table top, and then go for a run to burn off the calories. Two thumbs up!

  • Terryn T.

This place was amazing. I love finding an amazing burger and its hard to find one that just blows me away. Brunch Box successfully did this. It was clean inside, the staff was friendly and helpful, and the food was amazing. Yelp recommended it to me since I was just a few blocks away. I will definitely be eating here again next time I come into town. Thank you Brunch Box!

    (5)
  • Alex D.

But awfully close to a 5! The worst things I can say about this place is that they should have more options for fry sauces, and the bacon was a bit overcooked (sorry, I don't care for crispy bacon). However, everything else was great! Very well made fries (seasoned with sea salt); wouldn't say they are excellent, but they are close. I love the texas toast with the burgers as well. Burger was cooked medium rare, and cheese was melted just right! I love a burger and fries combo as much as any red blooded american, and while I make efforts to not indulge in said combo as much as any red blooded american, I think that this place ranks pretty strong.

  • Joseph A.

Delicious "Stuff your face" style burgers. You know, when you just wanna cram yummy burger all up in your face and mow down--this is the best cart for that. I forget what it's called, but if it were at Burger King, it would be a rodeo burger, but this one here actually tastes good, like real food.

    (5)
  • Elizabeth S.

Amazing customizable burgers and pretty good prices for the amount of food. The place was small (not good for larger groups) but clean and the service was really good.

    (5)
  • Amy S.

An absolute guilty pleasure! Perfectly hits the spot when you are craving a slightly greasy (in the best way possible) breakfast sandwich. Don't bother with any sides, you won't need them. I went the build-your-own route and had a classic ham/egg/cheese breakfast sandwich on an english muffin.

    (5)
  • Laura R.

Oh man, is this place AWESOME! We went for breakfast (my favorite meal). There are tons of breakfast sandwich choices, and burgers, but we opted to build our own. The sandwich I got was huge, like unbelievably big, and delicious. We chatted with the owners, who couldn't be more friendly. A great stop on our whirlwind Portland tour.

I'm not one who likes to walk 2.5 miles for a meal, but it builds a hell of an appetite. How big, you ask? Enough to pound one of these freakishly good burgers and every delicious fry down in no time at all. Whatever the name of the burger du jour is, the folks at Brunch Box seem to have cornered the downtown market on the burger for the quick and the fed. I don't know why I've fallen for another place with a great burger and an alliterative name, but I have. Bakery Bar burger cedes its crown of great ground beef to Brunch Box. My personal reigning champion of Portland burgerdom for 2013. As far as outdoor seating is concerned, if you're sitting to eat, you're not serious about the meal.

    (4)
  • Tim M.

Very tasty burgers. I ordered a Steakhouse with horseradish sauce with a fried egg, and it was so good that I ordered another. But why is the 32 ounce shake twice the price of the 20 ounce?

    (5)
  • sarah W.

I went simple: grilled cheese and a small milkshake. Both were excellent. My friends went with the Outlaw burger and enjoyed theirs. Friendly staff but not a ton of seating so be prepared to stand up or take out if it's busy.

    (4)
  • Alex T.

Found this place on Yelp and after a short walk from the Hilton I was enjoying one of the best burgers I've ever had in my life. Got the Outlaw which is one of their most popular ones. They also have daily specials which are awesome: free fries on Friday! Only reason I'm not giving 5 stars is because of the very limited seating. Only 5 tables inside but other than that the burgers are excellent and original!

    (4)
  • Adam S.

"Same great food with more comfortable seats", is what I told my friend when I finally got to try out BB's new brick house. I have to say I am as happy with it as the cart (which I love). Good attitude fast service and great burgers. I didn't try their new offerings but I will come back and do it again sometime. I was excited about them having beer but it seems that it is only in bottles (hopefully that will change as I do love draft beer). Not a huge space so tables are limited but it wasn't that difficult to find a spot.

Custom/vegetarian (not vegan) breakfast sandwiches on French toast bread, awesome. Sunday Mimosa deal rocks.

    (4)
  • Paul R.

First time was good. Was expecting a meatier patty, but the flavor was good. Good prices, for my combo and beer I spent less than I would at Red Robin. Good fries. Next time I'll try one of those grilled cheese burgers.

    (4)
  • Faye F.

Huge portions, decently priced, though I wish the Trial By Fire was a bit more spicy. I was expecting tears and sweat. Still, the burger was tasty. They have massive loaded fries which can be shared by like 4 people. If you get fries with your order they just dump it in the bag so you get a big serving. Their location is ideal in downtown if you have a hankering and can't quite make it to their food trunk.

    (4)
  • Adrienne I.

Outta control monster burgers! Outta control like godzilla. Cant wait to try more of the menu!

    (4)
  • John H.

Texas Toast is over hyped. I got the Black and Bleu breakfast sandwich with 'TT' and what I got was two normal slices of toast saturated in butter. What I got in no way looked like the TT in the pictures on the wall. Sausage = good. Bacon = ok. Fried Egg = ok. But all together the thing was way too salty and I could not taste much else. Someone needs to balance this thing out as all the parts sound better than the whole.

    (3)
  • Shadow F.

A hamburger patty between 2 grilled cheese sandwiches? Enticing! Unfortunately the burger lacked seasoning so I had to put extra ketchup on it for flavor. As disappointing as this was, their vast list of choices keeps me coming back. I think I'm addicted to the grease.

    (3)
  • Mark B.

    Sinful.

They will only cook their burgers well done. That's not a burger. That's a hockey puck.

    (2)
  • Jessica D.

Love the music played in the restaurant. My experience would have been better if the cooks could read my Build your own burger card correctly. They didn't put any of the toppings that I wanted like at all. So then I had to go back and lose my parking spot since I already left to go and get it corrected. So annoying. After all that it's fair to say I've had better.

    (1)
  • Julie K.

Trial By Breakfast. Speechless. If you can handle the astonishing level of grease and cheese and overwhelming richness, then you'll probably like it. It just wasn't for me.

    (2)
  • Kristin B.

awesome burger concoctions here haha. love that they have a brick and mortar location so after doing some happy hour hopping, me and justin b stopped in here for an evening snack. had to go with the famous YouCanHasCheeseburger on the menu and made it a combo with a soda and fries for under $10. the burger was amazing! hamburger patty in between grilled cheese sandwiches - genius! haha. i can only wish that Brunch Box would expand even more and head down to the OC.

    (5)
  • Brighton W.

One of the cooks is Gluten Free and makes the best "lettuce wrapped burger" in the city. I think it was put together like a puzzle - truly a joy to eat a well wrapped burger!

    (5)
  • Sheena G.

This place was just what we needed after a night of drinking. I would suggest whatever you order in the grilled cheese style. I wasn't sure what it was exactly when I ordered but I am glad I tried it. I am a pretty small person. So when I saw the size of my 2 grilled cheese sandwiches, with eggs and stuff between the 2 grilled cheese, I thought no way can I eat all this. The first thing I said to my husband after I was done was I can't believe I ate the whole thing. I wanted to get another one the next day but got something a little lighter. ;)

Of course Yelp recommended and absolutely worth it . The whole movement of truck food is taking off slowly in Chicago but from what I saw and got chance to experience in Portland is simply wonderful. I went to get my first burger the day I arrived Tuesday I was, event thou that it was already late afternoon there was few people ahead of me in front of the "box", indication that locals and tourist are digging it. The process of ordering is fun itself got my check board and picked up all add ons i wanted. Tomas was the guy who revived the order and was very friendly and pleasant. After few minutes the food arrived in in neatly wrapped package. Amazing, that until that day I had never had a burger on a Texas toast with melted cheese in it . I had the double patty one beef one turkey, so there is a lot to choose from for all pallets and YES it was fresh , tasty , well seasoned. I liked it so much the I scheduled 3 days of my Portland stay with the meals planned around , so I could try few more of theirs very interesting and tasty menu. It was absolutely worth it and I am actually hoping that soon i Chicago I will be able to find one comparable to Brunch Box

9:10 prom goers recommend Brunch Box before prom! A brick and mortar location makes this the prime destination for a couples only pre-prom meal, right!? I guess! Because on the day I visited the limo was outside and it's attendants were inside gazing at the large overhead menu ready to satisfy their errrrr..... prom night urges!? Aside from the patrons it's all about the food! The menu is exactly as it states! In the true fashion of the latest commercial from that "subterranean sandwich spot" that features the "baby got back" and "badonkadunk butt" at Burger Town what you order is exactly what you get! But that's a good thing! If you order a "Gut Bomb" expect exactly that! The "Redonkadunk" which very well could have been stolen for use in the aforementioned commercial is a sandwich every kid dreams of making but parent's would never allow. Well, Ma, I'm a grown up now and can be as gluttonous as I want! (but of course my kids can't do the same!) Brunch Box is the exact meaning of "Do what I say, NOT as I do!" Playful and messy, the menu provides a plethora of options for you to create your favorite after school culinary masterpiece to your liking. I mean, really! What kid doesn't dream of sandwiching their choice of protein between grilled cheese sandwiches!?!? As much fun as I have gawking at the menu I must say if the chicken breast was made in house Brunch Box would be a weekly destination. Alas, the chicken is frozen and breaded. Could you imagine a breast of Pine State's excellence gently laid betwixt two Texas Toast dripping grilled cheese sandwiches??? Can you taste it! That is a sandwich worth the cheese dripping from my beard! The chicken is in dire need of some TLC; fresh, seasoned & lightly breaded! Hopefully they come around...

Love these small places. Tried the Double Down and the OMG on two separate brrakfast visits. Superb. A perfect place for grab and go or a quick break with my hotel just a few minutes walk away. I loved the idea of the build your own sandwiches. Friendly staff and decent prices. Will return the next time I'm in Portland.

Oh my god! Delicious. I got their barbecue burger on Texas toast and ate it practically in one bite it was so good. Will definitely eat here again.

  • Elizabeth M.

I've been eating at their cart for years, so I was thrilled when I heard they were opening up a brick and mortar restaurant. It was amusing to note that the brick and mortar is literal in this case! They have the same fabulous food as at the cart, plus milkshakes and french fries. It still has the cart style though, so don't expect plates. Everything is still served to go, even though they do have seating. But they do have composting and recycling, so the extra paper doesn't go to waste.

  • Melissa S.

This was a hit! My mom and I shared the Icancheeseburger; which is a cheeseburger between two grilled cheese sandwiches (with Texas toast). It was delicious. It was everything I imagined and more. My husband ordered the The Redonkadonk: a burger with cheese, bacon, ham, spam, a fried egg, lettuce, tomato, grilled onions, ketchup, mayo, and mustard between two Texas toast grilled cheese sandwiches instead of a bun! He loved it. The only complaint is with a name like that, and ingredients like that you pictured a HUGE burger that couldn't be finished. It was actually kind of small compared to what other people shown. From what it seems it looks like the food cart has bigger portions than the storefront. Regardless, it was tasty and deserves stars!

As w/ Los Gorditos in the Pearl, this food cart turned brick-and-mortor has done it right. Avoiding reported crowds at Eat Mobile, the Armenian diplomat we had in-tow here came to appreciate why we Americans sacrifice good health for specialty burgers, crispy fries and -- in Portland -- cold craft beer (bottled).

  • Dennis M.

One of the best burger joints I have been to in a long time. I am basing this off the fact that not only were the burgers on point, but the onion rings were bad-ass as well. Here was the dinner for the night...thai bacon burger, onion rings and Gold Peak Sweet tea (best of the fountain tea out there). I ordered my burger extra hot cause if its says Thai, why settle for mild? The peanut sauce with the burger and pepper on top, was amazing combo. Now I did not taste the pineapple, but not a big deal at all. the onion rings were not all batter and onion. This it how rings should be. Overall, I loved the experience with the food and the staff were hella cool. Straight up reggae blasting through the spot, which gave the experience a much more relaxed and enjoyable experience. Next time I am in Portland, I will definitely be back!!! Thanks again for the great food, D

burger was fixed just the way i like it. onion rings were hot and crispy. meat tasted a little gristly to me and something just felt off. plus the hipster guy working had a wankster attitude.

Been wanting to try this place for a long time now and finally had the chance to last night. It took about five minutes for me to finally decide what I wanted due to the large variety of options to choose from. Went with the Thai bacon burger, and holy cow it didn't disappoint. It may be dangerous now knowing how yummy, close, and cheap it is.

Had the Trial By Breakfast on Texas toast with the Sunday mimosa and hash browns special. AMAZING sandwich, with the jalapeños roasted and the egg over easy (an over easy egg!) and the hash browns and mimosa were both great as well.

One of my favorite places to eat in Portland. Very friendly staff, and a great relaxed atmosphere (they play great music, too). Their chicken bacon ranch sandwiches are to die for, and the prices are fantastically fair for such high quality food. Would recommend to everyone I could!

Loved this food truck! Yelp helped me find just what we were looking for on our visit to Portland and then we were even more pleased to find the coupon on our Scoutmob app saving us 50 percent. We tried icanhascheeseburger - amazing burger nestled between two grilled cheeses. We have found ourselves wanting another but now we are far from Portland.

Oh dear god and baby Jesus this place is good, the menu is great and I love being able to build my own burger just how I want it. Also the kids dino PB and J is killer so much yum here. Stop reading my review and go jam a burger in your face.

My husband got the Trial By Breakfast sandwich and it was delightfully spicy. Somewhere between medium and "whoa that's too hot" it hit in just the right spot. We asked and discovered the biscuits are not made in house, but the girl who helped us told us they were flaky and delicious anyway. Well we got the sandwich, opened it up, and it looked like it had been a little flattened out or smashed. Well looks aside it was delicious! The biscuit was a bit chewier than a normal buttermilk biscuit would be, but it was large and flavorful and the texture worked perfectly to hold up under the weight of cheesy-fried egg-goodness. Highly recommend!

Stopped here for a quick breakfast with my family. Very yummy breakfast sandwiches, and lots of choices, including a build-your-own breakfast sandwich option that I could very appealing. Very friendly staff. Clean bathroom. Not too much seating inside, but we took a small table outside and it was no problem.

It's a simple concept probably thought of by many a hungry man, but Brunch Box brings it to tasty, tasty life: replace your burger buns with grilled cheese sandwiches. I found out that I can haz cheeseburger and enjoyed a melty delicious hunk of sandwich. Even my better half, who is a cheese lover, was satisfied with our gooey cheesy selection. Definitely would try again on the next trip the Portland (but I will remember to grab more napkins next time).

Great when you want to pig out and eat some greasy, fatty comfort food. I got the redonkadonk, which is basically a burger between two grilled cheese sandwiches. It didn't blow my mind and I didn't think I was that hungry, and yet I still finished the entire thing. They aren't super pricey and some days, it's exactly what you need.

Here's the story Of an Outlaw Who was bringing up three very lovely Firebirds All of them had grilled onions Like their mother The youngest one named Lil Mo Here's the story Of a man named 5-Oh Who was busy with three Burgermeisters of his own They were four Monstrosities Living all together, but YouCanHasCheeseburger Till the one day when the Outlaw met this 5-Oh and they knew it was much more than just lunch That this cart Must somehow form a cafe That's the way they all became the Brunch Box The Brunch Box, the Brunch Box That's the way they became the Brunch Box

***Dedicated to my 800th Review*** Brunchbox and I go wayyy back. Like when I moved to Portland, wayyy back (~4 years ago). According to my health-concious friend, these "grease balls" are only "good for your health about once a year"...... and I do concur! When I first met Brunchbox, they were just a foodcart nestled in the heart of downtown Portland. I had to limit myself from ordering the "Radonkadonk" burger..... (see review: yelp.com/biz/brunchbox-p… ) They've gained so much popularity over the years and have been so successful that they were able to open a brick-and-mortar joint! [decor] Think bricks with wood and colors of blue, white and yellow - 1. Outside sign: ( yelp.com/biz_photos/brun… ) 2. Outside building: ( yelp.com/biz_photos/brun… ) 3. Inside logo: ( yelp.com/biz_photos/brun… ) [devour] YOUCANHASCHEESEBURGER - $7 **4 STARS** This burger is good to share for 2 people! It's quite tall in size that it'll be amazing if you can actually take a bite of everything during one attempt! This gut-busting burger has a large beef patty (cooked medium-rare for all burgers) and is combined with your typical burger innerds (lettuce, tomato, grilled onions, ketchup, mustard and mayo). The ONLY thing that is different is that instead of regular bread buns, you have 2 (YES I SAID 2!!!!) Texas Toast Grilled Cheese Sammies at each end. Are you imagining your arteries clogging now? =P ( yelp.com/biz_photos/brun… ) ONION RINGS - $2.50 for small order **3.5 STARS** This was your typical run-of-the-mill onion rings. Breading was pretty good and wasn't over-done. No complaints here! ( yelp.com/biz_photos/brun… ) FRIES - $1.50 for small order **3.5 STARS** The fries weren't that bad. Even though I had ordered a small to share, it was still a lot of fries to go around. Fries were cut fresh and fried to golden perfection. It was a bit greasy though as you can see the oil seeping through the brown bag that it was delivered in. I wish they had a box or some type of holding material for the fries instead of shoving them in a brown bag (IMHO). ( yelp.com/biz_photos/brun… ) FYI = *Parking only on street (metered) *Beware you might need some heartburn meds after eating here (unfortunately, I had upset stomach for a good 24 hours after consumption of the YouCanHasCheeseburger, apparently I don't do well with pure grease =X) *You may want to run 5 miles after eating here *CC's accepted (Visa, MC) *Upgrade your burger order as a combo for an extra $2.50 *Water glasses available (free) *Limited seating (~10-12 seats and a standing table top) I'll be back here once a year (or less often) if my stomach can handle it =X If you're looking for a burger to blow your mind and you don't care how guilty the thing is, I highly recommend Brunch Box! =) Yelp 2013 100 for 100 Challenge - Review #85

Their breakfast sandwiches are top notch. Reminded me of a much better quality deli breakfast offering you'd find in NYC. I'd been longing for such a meal, ever since I departed the big city and I was thankful to find it through the doors at Brunch Box.

After already doing the gourmet, wait multiple hours, portland brunch thing two days in a row (tasty and screen door) I wanted a good easy breakfast. Walking around downtown pearl area for a little while I saw this sign down a little street and saw the words brunch. Walking in the place is very small about 4 tables and definitely had the togo look about it. The menu had a bunch of crazy sandwiches you can choose from or a build your own breakfast sandwich option. Literally anything and everything you've ever wanted can be put on to it. They'll even make two grilled cheeses and use those as the bun and make a sandwich between the two. I went with something a little simpler. A fried egg, bacon, pepper jack, grilled onions on an everything bagel. My bf went with fried egg, american cheese, sausage, and mushrooms on texas toast. Little greasy but so good nonetheless. Also the prices are amazing and during breakfast they give you a free hashbrown AND free coffee. For two amazing sandwiches, 2 free hashbrowns, a free coffee and a sprite our total was around 11 dollars.

Places like this are why Portland is known for food. Great burger -- I had the Steakhouse. So thankful there isn't one of these near where I live or my waistline would be through! I stopped by here late afternoon on my friend's recommendation and was in awe of the menu. Grilled cheese as a BUN?! Wait no I still have stuff to do today. They also have breakfast that looks like something you'd get at a greasy diner (and I mean that in SUCH a good way).

Reasonable price and amazing sandwiches. However, watch out for high blood pressure after eating their food.

To be honest I thought it was a little over hyped. I mean, yes the sandwiches are good and they look incredible and it's definitely worth trying but it's a little pricey. I eat relatively healthy so this was not the place for me. I ordered a make your own breakfast sandwich, and to me it was just average but the other sandwiches looked absolutely amazing. If you're looking for healthy, don't look here...

Friendly staff, clean places to eat inside or outside and great vibe. So many great choices for everyone, great kids menu and most everything is under $10! Staff is very kind to out of towners with questions about the menu. You can easily modify menu choices and there's a form to build your own options. The brunch traffic moved through quickly and we had our food in minutes. Overall, very happy to have eaten here and will come back during our visit I'm sure!

The Burgers are still killer. With a full on kitchen, the menu has expanded to include Fried chicken options, french fries, and other healthy items. Here is my review of the food: yelp.com/biz/brunchbox-p… This review will be more about the space their new B&M occupies. Visually, it is bright and well decorated. Posters of their (in)famous burgers line the walls. The menu dominates your view as it taunts you with so many delicous caloric choices. The space, itself, is very small and kind of awkward. I guess you could classify it as a microrestaurant (the new Portland buzzword). The space is narrow with 4 two-top tables and a standing counter in the middle. I guess you are supposed to eat your burger at the standing counter, but people in line on the other side of the counter make it an awkward situation of people hovering over you and hoping they don't knock down your food and drink. Plus this counter is where Brunchbox puts their order forms and that takes up 25% of the counter. In this tiny micro restaurant , you have people sitting and eating, standing and eating, in line waiting to order and standing anywhere waiting for their order. So, even though Brunchbox now has moved into a B&M, it is very cramped and you are probably going to end up eating outside anyway. BUT, you know what isn't tiny??? The friggin gigantic heart-stopping, soul soothing, caloric juggernaut called the youcanhascheeseburger. PS. You crazy people who are putting fried chicken in your burgers, I recommend you take your phone out, dial 9-1 and keep one finger on the 1.

NOTHING CHANGED The food here is no different from that of their food cart on 5Th & Stark. yelp.com/user_details_re… Except you can now substitute the meat for Fried Chicken for 50 cents more, plus add Loaded Fries and Hash Browns to your sandwiches. And the other difference is of course you can now order your food and consume it indoors. Official Grand Opening will be Saturday, April 20Th (4/20). In honor of their occassion Cheese Burger will offered at a reduced price at $4.20 (normally $7.00).

Food is great, but customer service is also a part of an eating experience and let's just say, today it sucked! Either get a new cashier/phone person or plan on letting her have you lose more customers. Heading to Boise Fry Company instead.

Great prices!! Delicious fries, and the burgers get as crazy as you want them to get. For the price and the atmosphere, I'd say this is a great spot to get a burger. It was rather quiet but the two employees were very nice and made it a good experience when I didn't know what I wanted for 10 minutes. The Blue Cheese burger was more than I bargained for, but totally incredibly made and delicious. I can't wait to try their other burgers!

While visiting Portland last week I walked into Brunch Box with my two over-tired and over-hungry toddlers and my husband. With the kids having a meltdown my husband ordered for them and I ask if anything on the menu is vegan (I'm the only vegan in my family) and was told no by a really obnoxious woman at the register. Um, OK. But while we were waiting for my family's food I notice they have PB&J on the menu. So I ask her if that is vegan and sure enough it is and it is on their menu so I guess there is something vegan on their menu. I also could have had a hamburger bun with just the veggie toppings (aka the In-and-Out veggie burger). The two stars is not even for my experience it is the report from my husband on the food he ate. Can't rely on honest feedback from my toddlers.

Good food for a chilly, rainy day. Grilled cheese is basic but tasty, hub got The Outlaw and we attempted to eat the massive bacon and cheese fries. We barely ate half and avoided the store bought ranch dressing (ew). Ordered a chocolate shake to go and it was again, tasty. Only 4 stars bc no one was wiping the quickly turned over tables and the floor, etc was a bit grimy/dirty. So basically a college type place, a bit hole in the wall but overall appealing.

Made a quick stop here on my 3 day food tour of Portland :) Had the OMG burger... it's definitely delicious... but very filling. OMG burger includes: Beef patty... bacon, ham, spam, fried egg, lettuce, tomato, grilled onions, ketchup, mustar, and mayo. If you're feeling especially artery clog-worthy... spring for the Redonkadonk (same as OMG but with grilled cheese sandwiches in place of regular buns). Overall... I think the burger was worth the hype. It was fantastically done... my only small complaint was that the spam was a bit salty... the saltiness was a bit overwhelming. For $8.50... it was a good portion. Not overly large but extremely filling. Skip the fries and soda... there's enough calories in this thing for your whole day! I will definitely come back when I'm in Portland to give some of the other burger creations a chance.

This review is for two regular burgers (not the grilled cheese burgers they are so famous for). Burgers were really good but not the best we've ever had. We're from Dallas and we have some pretty mean burgers being made down here! But with that being said, both my husband and I really enjoyed our burgers. THANK YOU for using fresh jalapenos! Everything else tasted fresh as well and Texas Toast makes everything better. We loved the onion rings - super crispy, very good. The fries were good as well but nothing to write home about. The woman at the counter was awesome as well with a lot of energy and very friendly. Customer service was great! If we ever make it back to Portland (which I hope we do soon), I will definitely be trying the grilled cheese burger!

A simple menu built around burgers, breakfast meats, eggs and cheese. Not fancy, but seriously bacon, beef and the lot don't beg to be treated like princesses. Needless to say the place seemed really popular with the local construction crews. Had the Lumber Jack. Good thing I spent the next two hours walking Portland. But vacations and walking call for some tasty fuel to start the day.

WOW! This place is a must-visit! So yummy and a pretty good deal, too! We both ordered the Outlaw (hold the grilled onions on mine) with one meal, which was plenty for the two of us! Really yummy and it's awesome how much you can customize or even build from scratch! There are many more burgers and sandwiches that I want to try! We just missed the lunch rush and got there before happy hour, so it was perfect timing for us. I can imagine that this place gets pretty crowded during lunchtime! Can't wait to return and try more of the menu!

Coworker told me about this spot went to check it out found out they have great food. build your own burgers awesome and the breakfast sandwiches are great as well. one of the best sandwiches they have the lumberjack, french toast sausage egg cheese bacon and ham great all-around restaurant will go back one of my favorite new places. Also staff was friendly.

The food was ok, but the service was some of the worst I've ever experienced. From the moment we walked through the door we were treated like hostiles rather than customers. The woman with dreadlocks and stupid gauged earrings was the worst. The two cooks slamming things around and swearing at their ill fortune of having to work at work weren't far behind. I understand jobs can be frustrating but the way we were treated was unacceptable.

I have been a fan since they opened the food cart and this place takes it to the next level. There is limited seating but it is an improvement from none. My only suggestion Don't Hold Back. Go knowing you are eating an amazingly grease and meat loaded burger. The fries are very crispy and have lots of flavor, make sure to check out the specials, they are very creative. Plus they have an afternoon or happy hour menu from 2-7 good deal.

If your hearts desire is a massive burger with anything you could want on it at a decent price, all freshly made... Then brunch box will not let you down. Some days you just want to have an excessively large and loaded hamburger because you've been awesome or better yet you need a pick me up. That's what this place is for.

  • Alexandra M.

If you want a good burger at a casual joint, this is the spot. The burgermister is fantastic, everything a Big Mac tries and fails to be, and the thai burger is great and spicy. The milkshakes were delicious as well. My only complaint was the volume of the music, but the food made it worth it.

Normally, I wait a few days, maybe even a week or two, to write my review of a place. But when it comes to Brunch Box, I could not wait more than five minutes to share with the interwebz how amazing my breakfast just was. I grabbed an Omelet Sandwich on an Everything Bagel (and some napkins) and devoured this beautiful amalgamation of fried eggs, American cheese, mushrooms and onions. I laughed, I cried, my life will never be the same again. Do yourself a favor and go eat here immediately.

So glad we chose to come here. Decided to go with building my own burger. Kept it pretty simple with a beef patty, mustard, lettuce, grilled onions and Texas toast as the buns. It was soooo good. The buttery toast was the icing on the cake.

Loved the food here and have been coming for a long time. Went in today to find the prices were increased significantly and portion sizes decreased. Very disappointed... $1.75 for an 8 oz drink?! Really? Used to be the best burger in the area, now I'd recommend you steer clear.

Patty, bacon, grilled pineapple, jalapeños, lettuce, tomato, grilled onions and peanut sauce got it medium but it sure was hott!! Service here was fast and friendly. So thumbs up for that. Music is a bit loud but maybe I'm just getting old. This place is all about the meat. Veg options are available but this is a carnivore's paradise. I'll be back for sure!

Good spot for those greasy burger/sandwich cravings. Wide selection and I tried the Hawaiian option on Texas Toast. Sweet and salty with teriyaki sauce and spam. Wash it down with some cheap mimosas on Sunday. Complete opposite of clean eating.

This place is a little slice of heaven hidden away from the public eye! I have never once been disappointed by anything I've ever ordered here. Be warned though! This is NOT a place to go if you're looking for a healthy alternative to anything. This is a place to go if you want a burger. A big, huge, cheesy, greasy, absolutely divine burger. It will be big, it will be messy, and it be delicious. I go to Brunch Box rather often, so I know their menu pretty well. The Thai burger is one of my favorites. It's nice and spicy, has a lot of delicious veggies on it, and it's just so good. The "I can has" is another good choice if you want a twist on the more traditional burger, but in all honesty you just can't go wrong. They are always willing to substitute and customize orders so feel free to personalize anything you see or even make something entirely new. The world is your oyster, so make it your own. Don't be shy. One thing that does disappoint me a little is the serving size on fries, but then again, I'm an absolute glutton for fries. They're fresh, crispy, and great, I just always want more. So bear that in mind. Regardless, This place is wonderful and I'm a huge advocate for Brunch Box. Go slightly out of your way, find it, and start believing in miracles again.

After a night of Portland brewery "appreciation," my hubby and I needed something to eat to kick our hangovers. We decided to let Brunch Box be our hangover cure. The restaurant is super small, and every single table and even a stand up bar was full of people when we walked in to order. We both ordered the burger with two patties and a small side of onion rings. A small order of onion rings was plenty for the both of us to share because the burgers were absolutely massive! I would call the burgers we got Big Mac's on steroids, but with much better ingredients. I liked the special sauce they used on the burgers, but after eating as much as I could (about 2/3 of it), the overall impression was that it was just a super greasy burger. Nothing really stood out about it. Did it cure our hangovers with its massive greasiness? Yes. So I guess you could say it did it's job. It wasn't a memorable burger for me nor my hubby, but it's worth a try.

Probably the best Burger I have ever had! Heart attack on a plate but... OMG.. so good. In Portland for just one night so decided to go for the big one... the redonkulous. So good. My beef definitely wasn't even seasoned. Easy order: Happy hour time: One new deal please. ehh.... I taste the quality of the ingredients, and it's true that somehow I was enticed the finish the smallish burger, but the beef... please season your protein!! cooking 101

I did a good job with Portland breakfasts. Brunch Box did not disappoint, we came around 9AM on a Friday and the place was fairly busy but we ordered and got a table pretty quickly and before we knew it our order was ready. I ordered the black & bleu on texas toast. I wasn't sure how I felt about blue cheese on a breakfast sandwich but it worked! And the blackened seasoning was a nice touch. Employees were super friendly when we placed our order and when we told them we were tourists they engaged us in conversation about our plans for the day etc. It's a good thing there isn't one of these closer to home! Definitely a good place for an indulgent treat every once in awhile!

I was recommended coming here by a friend and aside from that I really didn't know what to expect. When we arrived, I was a bit overwhelmed by all the options and since it was 10am, I ruled out burgers and went for the breakfast sandwiches. Ended up building my own breakfast sandwich on a plain bagel with a fried egg, grilled onions, ham, bacon and cheese. There was a slight kick to it as they used a peppery seasoning on the onions. My only disappointment is that I realized they didn't put bacon on it even though I paid extra. Other than that, it was delicious! Very heavy though so I was stuffed and couldn't finish the entire thing. I also ordered a side of hash brown (they're like the McDonald's kind, but way better) and an orange juice. Be prepared to wait for a bit, both in line to order and for your food. Luckily by the time our food was ready, a table had been vacated for us. It is a tiny place so not good for large groups. Their burgers also look very intense. Some of them have grilled cheese sandwiches as the bread! I don't know if my stomach would be able to handle it. Overall, it was a good experience.

I ordered a burger named OMG, and rightfully so. Besides the basics (¼ beef patty, American cheese, lettuce, tomato, grilled onion, ketchup, mustard & mayo), it also came topped with bacon, ham, spam and a fried egg. I made the mistake in taking the burger out of the wrapper, because as soon as I took my first bite, both top and bottom buns pretty much disintegrated - like a wet tissue against a boulder. As the ingredients started falling out and with mustard running down my fingers, I contemplated finishing with a fork. I had to put the burger down and re-strategize my approach. Watching in my struggles, Cherry made the suggestion, "Why not just wrap it back up?!" Genius! So I wrapped what was still left back in the wrapper and used it as my burger blanket. Despite the disappointing bun, everything inside was solid. The bacon was thick and crispy, the egg added a nice creamy flavor and the spam added an extra savory and salty kick that was delicious. Unfortunately, the ham got lost amongst everything else. Brunch Box definitely appeals to those who aren't afraid to get a little messy. Despite being enormous, these burgers are tasty and well made. I didn't realize it until I was done with my meal, but you can substitute the burger bun with texas toast at no additional charge, which may be a better option for some of the bigger and messier burgers. They also allow you to substitute your beef patty for a turkey, fried chicken or veggie patty. If the monstrosities described above frighten you, never fear, there are more modest selections to choose from too.

YUM, good breakfast food! My friend and I decided to share the Hawaiian breakfast sandwich, which had Teriyaki spam, pineapple, swiss, and a fried egg for $6 - and it was delicious. Its definitely a filling sandwich, just half was good for me. Would come back here again the next time I'm in Portland, but there are too many other awesome spots to try..

Quick service. The trial by breakfast on Texas toast is good. It's a bit spicy but it won't make you sweat. Milkshakes are good according to my son, as is the grilled PBJ. You can have your sandwich done in the form of a T. rex as well which is just awesome. I'll be back!

Good bet for a good burger. I went with the build-your-own burger option a couple of weeks ago and found it to be just fine. The meat itself could have been seasoned better, but still of good quality. Fries were great. When I went to get ketchup, the pump unit was out of ketchup, but they did give me one small container full, but if I'm going for fries, I want to have plenty of ketchup. I mentioned to the counter-person that they were out. She smiled and nodded and went back to conversation with the other kitchen employees. Well OK then. However, a very tall fellow customer came in a few minutes later, picked up the ketchup distribution unit and placed it on the order counter, and walked away without a word. The unit was replaced in about 30 seconds. Hey, I know I'm of average height, but if I ask for the ketchup distribution unit to be replaced, I would like to have it replaced in just 30 seconds the same as the tall fellow customer. I don't know if you can take stars off for favortism of tall people, so I'm taking a star off for more or less ignoring me when I made the request for a full ketchup container. I found ordering to be easy in terms of lots of signage and those great hand-held order forms to be marked up with Sharpies. Like I said above, I found the counter-person friendly to an extent, but I also thought she was distracted and seemed to be phoning in her service due to too much conversation in the kitchen. Brunch Box is located on a side street and is a tad dark inside because of that, but otherwise clean and attractive. I will probably think twice before returning not because of the food, but because of the service.

This is a burger place that uses grilled cheeses in the place of buns. I have not felt adventurous enough to try that yet, but I did have the Thai Bacon Burger and I would say it's a 5 star burger. They put peanut sauce on it, which I never imagined putting on a burger, but it was surprisingly delicious. The bacon was both thick and crisp, just the way I like it. The employees are nice and the food is fast. Love BB!

Artery-clogging, hearty and juicy burgers that are not for the weak. You've got sandwiches called the Monstrosity, which is a double beef, double cheddar burger crammed with bacon, sandwiched between 2 full-on grilled cheese sandwiches. Then, you've got the Slaughterhouse IV which is jam packed with a juicy beef patty, turkey patty, cheese, bacon, fried egg, and veggies. There are plenty more burgers and sandwiches to choose from. You can make any of them on Texas toast, or stuck between full grilled cheese sandwiches. Huge plus - they take credit card and the staff is super nice. If you've got kids, they have mini grilled cheese sandwiches shaped like a T-rex.

Burgers are excellent. Great selection of burgers. Limited space to sit. Facility could use an upgrade. Great place for a quick burger for lunch.

I friggin LOVE Brunch Box. If i could eat there everyday for the rest of my life i would die happy (and young). They may not have the healthiest offerings, but every item on their surprisingly large menu is good for your soul. If you're in the mood for a seriously stacked burger at a fair price then Brunch Box has your back. I wish I could attest to the deliciousness of the entire menu, but i haven't made it that far yet. I will say that this past saturday i ordered a double down breakfast sandwich with bacon, fried chicken, and swiss on an everything bagel and it was the best decision i made that day. They do a happy hour monday-thursday. Cheap burgers and beer. Like $1 for a tall can. It's extremely hard for me to avoid because i'm a glutton, and this place is on my walk home from work everyday. A word to the wise, get the fully loaded fries with bacon and everything else or don't get any at all.

This is it. This is the meca. This is light at the end of the tunnel. This is Friday at 5pm after dealing with your dick head boss for five days straight. This is the voice Moses heard letting him know, "everything is going to be alright." This is what dreams are made of. This is what heaven tastes like. This is a more cheese than you should probably consume; more grease than your arteries know what to do with; more flavor than your taste buds have touched; more love than your grandmama's kitchen. Simply put.... this is what you need when you come to Portland. (**tip: add bacon and peanut butter to your order for an added punch to compliment the cheese and tender beef.)

This place was open relatively late (we were looking for dinner around 9pm) and had an excellent selection, including a monster called "You CAN Has Cheeseburger", and that basically won the hearts of the internet (and me). Texas toast burgers are fantastic...and the lady let me add hashbrowns on my BYOB, which made angels weep. Listen, this is a place where they let you replace burger buns not only with Texas toast...BUT FULL ON GRILLED CHEESE. Is...is this heaven? I'm not sure, but it may take you dangerously close. I built my own burger, which looked superior to the regular cheeseburger that the boyfriend ordered, mainly because Texas toast makes everything more delicious and prettier and therefore superior. It also took me a really long time to decide, because while the menu options were spectacular, I don't think my body is ready for things like the OMG, which has all the meats, including spam, or the Redonkadonk, which is the OMG but nestled cozily in between two grilled cheese sandwiches. My gosh, I think I may be crying just thinking about it. It sounds like a dream. But it is real. With an unreal amount of fixin' selections, you have the power to create your own dangerous and beautiful burger creation. My burger was on Texas toast, with hashbrowns, mushrooms, pepperjack cheese, and barbecue sauce. I wish I had replaced the buns with grilled cheese. The fries are excellent and of my favorite variety (not the string kind and not the super thick rectangular kind - the kind in the middle) and complemented the burger. Overall, this was actually one of my favorite food stops whilst in Portland (mainly because I made the mistake of trying out Asian food first - coming from an Asian family and also San Francisco, it was foolish of me to think that it might even compare to home).

A while ago (look it up) I pronounced the Brunch Box cart's burger my favorite in town, and it still is (altho it shares that distinction). So it was with high hopes that I came into the brick and mortar location after an early appointment downtown. But also a bit of trepidation. Portlanders are quick to accept foodies crapping on them and my past experience at carters moving inside was not confidence inspiring. Screw you, Lardo, no sandwich can be that good. No fear on that score here. Customers order at the counter (it's a burger joint, whaddaya expect, bow ties and long aprons?) and they run your food out to you. At least they did for me and some others at the off-peak time. I got the double down, which is a bit of a choose your own. 2 eggs, 2 meats (ham & sausage), cheese (cheddar) and bread (Texas toast). It was, pretty good. Not super my thing, TBH but that's on me. If I go next time I'll get something simpler. They have Coke fountains and some beer selections, too. Nothing mentioned about charging for refills, very open minded in this homeless iceberg zone.

Decadent sandwiches! The place is a little greasy and small, but the sandwiches are top notch! Juicy meats and crunchy toasted bread. Comfort food in the form of a sandwich!

Upon the recommendation of Portland's most trusted tour guide, we decided to try BB for lunch one day. It is not a light lunch, folks. I ordered the You Can Has Cheeseburger. This sandwich's claim to fame is that it has grilled cheese sandwiches instead of buns. Yes, they are diet grilled cheese sandwiches. The burger itself is topped with (you guessed it) more cheese, mayo, mustard, grilled onions, pickle, lettuce and tomato. Despite its novelty, the burger was frakking delicious. It took me a full week at the gym to damage-control that bad boy. My boyfriend's burger ("The Outlaw") was less delicious than mine, but was still a righteous choice - the onion ring works nicely with that one. Don't worry about him, he ate the other half of my burger later that evening. We also ordered fries and two hopped ciders. We asked for the small order of fries and they were still huge - definitely enough for two people to share. However, if you order the You Can Has Cheeseburger, I recommend that you bypass the fries -- it's simply too much. Unless you're on vacation. Then there is no such thing as too much. Those hopped ciders were nice considering it was over 90 degrees in Portland (weird) that day. The most amazing thing I could not get over was the reverse sticker shock. For two huge burgers, an order of fries and two alcoholic beverages, I paid less than $20. I kept looking at my receipt to make sure I got that right. Under $20! I love Portland! In San Francisco, that whole thing would have been about $40. The only drawback to BB that I will note is that there isn't a lot of seating in this location, so we got stuck sitting on the sidewalk patio. This isn't the choicest part of town either, so it was a bit of a turn off. In 90 degree (weird) heat, I was sweating my makeup right off. Also, people were smoking on the patio which was gross and unappetizing. Not a fan of the smoking. Just make sure to wait for seats inside the restaurant. Otherwise, I'm a fan!

REDONKADONK BURGER!! I saw this burger while perusing the web one day and knew I had to try it if I ever visited Portland. It consists of a beef patty with american cheese, bacon, ham, spam, a fried egg, lettuce, tomato, grilled onions, ketchup, mustard, mayo all sandwiched between two grilled cheese sandwiches (that's 4 pieces of bread with cheese in between) instead of buns. The grilled cheese sandwiches were made with Texas toast which were well-buttered and had an excellent toasty crunch. I'm a sucker for anything with spam so that was quite enjoyable for me to have it in my burger along with 3 other kinds of meat :D The fried egg just oozed richness and tied the whole thing together. I surprisingly managed to scarf down this monstrosity quite easily for my breakfast that day; I finished it before by girlfriend finished her bagel :P This rightfully named burger easily meets the needs of a normal person's daily caloric intake. Sadly, I'm a fatass and went on to eat two more meals that day.

Brunch Box puts together a pretty darn good burger at reasonable prices. You can't go wrong with The Outlaw (cheese, bacon, onion ring, grilled onions, bbq sauce), which is really made by the Texas Toast for a bun. How come other places don't do this?! The onion rings were a bit better than the average one you find at a burger joint. The prices were decent for the quality of food you're getting - burger, onion rings, and drink set me back $10. Note that the fountain drink dispenser is behind the cash register, so you feel like you're wandering into the kitchen. Very Portlandish.

The definition of greasy comfort food. If they were open late I'm sure late night revelers would flock to it like a misguided 2am visit to Jack in the Box. While the burgers aren't organic, grass-fed, etc., they are darn tasty. My favorite was the "Trial by Fire" burger. It didn't pack a huge punch - I have a Sriracha problem - but it was quite satisfying with a just touch of burn. Things can get out of hand pretty quickly on the menu, jumping from standard burgers to crazy giant burgers with grilled cheese sandwiches for buns! (next time on that one)

Let's get down to it. Dude, brunch box freaking rules. I've been to a lot of different burger places here and brunch box has a variety that I enjoy. it's a guilty pleasure for me and I don't bother going to the cart anymore because they don't do fries and for me a burger comes with fries not chips. So I go to the brick and mortar restaurant and I always get the trial by fire which is wonderfully spicy and tasty. The service is pretty good, the fries are good and I love a good greasy burger which brunch box will always provide. So do yourself a favor and head over there at least one time and I guarantee you you'll go back.

Really a 4.5 star review. Rounding up to 5 stars because I have nothing negative to say about our experience here. Brunch Box was not on my "must visit" list of places to eat in Portland, OR. Have to say that I was pleasantly surprised with this little spot. Was lucky to find street parking right in front of their place. We walked in and were greeted nicely by the girl at the counter. After browsing the menu and their burgers of fame, we made our choices. Wifey picked the Outlaw Burger. I picked the Youcan Burger. We shared a Strawberry Shake. 12oz Strawberry shake was $4.50, and tasted good. Not the traditional dessert I would have liked, but it did the job. The Outlaw burger was $6.50. My wife said it was delicious. The combination of the onion ring, bacon, grilled onions, bbq sauce, and everything else on Texas toast went really well together. Youcan Cheeseburger was $7.00. I loved the creativity of this burger. Two Texas Toast Grilled Cheese sandwiches acted as the bun for this creation. This burger was packed with flavor and tasted super!! Brunch Box can be recommended for an amazing meal! Combine the delicious food with good service and reasonable prices.....I have to give them 4.5 stars!! Great job!

Found Brunch Box on Yelp and since it wasn't far from my hotel, gave it a shot. Lookinf for local and it fitbthe bill. Chicken ranch sandwich was very tasty and fries were nice & crispy. Plus, Rainier was on special for a buck! What a meal!

Had the redonkodonk burger for lunch the other day - it was a totally redonkulous idea! Will have to come back to make sure all the hype is accurate on this place. The burger we split was kind of meh. The more we ate, the less we liked. It came with a patty topped with cheese, ham, spam, bacon, fried egg, mayo, mustard, ketchup, sandwiched between grilled cheese sandwiches. I admit it sounds ridiculous, and I was like, this could go either way. Be awesome and mind blowing or just to much to the burger. It was the latter of the two. Way to much stuff. Perhaps just a plan cheeseburger next time. The mimosa was pretty awesome though. I'm sure we will try again - but at this point just OK.

We went to the store front location of Brunch Box for our first meal in Portland & were not disappointed! I found this spot through it's great reviews on Yelp & it definitely lived up to those. The specialty seems to be giant burgers & their signature upgrade option of having 2 grilled cheeses instead of a regular bun. I was not adventurous (or hungry) enough to try this but I had the "Outlaw" which was incredible!! I would highly recommend this place for it's burgers, fries, & onion rings! The only note is that the place is TINY (maybe 4 tables) so try to go on non-peak times.

I used to LOVE this place but they recently raised their prices by some insane amount! It's almost not worth it to eat there anymore... but I love the Monte Cristo too much to stop going. I definitely go less frequently than I used to.

This tops the list as one of my fave burgers in Portland. The Big Kahuna is my go-to. I also always get the Brewhouse Fries, which remind me of the pommes frites at Cafe Orleans at Disneyland. It's like a mini-vacation in my mouth. Just plain delicious.

You can get healthy food here if you try, but it's not really the point. You want a big ass burger? With EVERYTHING? How about bacon fries? Onion rings? Cheap pounder beers? $2.50 mimosas (and not tiny ones) on Sundays? How about a breakfast bagel with fried egg, ham, bacon, sausage, cheese, and anything else? Yeah, they have it here. A burger between two grilled cheese sandwiches? Standard. Honestly, the best part is coming in and filling out the laminated card with what you want. No questions, no judgement, just a checklist. Jalapenos? X or no X. Try them for breakfast or lunch. I go there too often but am not sorry.

All I have to say is it is a MUST! I asked if they had a vegetarian burger and they said that they could make any burger vegetarian but the best one to do would the the steak burger. What a great choice it was awesome. My boyfriend had the OMG burger and it looked soooo good. He said it was one of the best burgers he had. The fries were very good with just a little bit of salt. We asked for fry sauce and were given thousand island sauce and it was perfect. If you are wanting to eat burger and fries then this is the place to go to. The one con is that the place is very small and there are only about 5 tables in the place.

  • Denise K.

OK this place is cheap, fast, and tasty (for what it is). We ordered the Redonkadonk and it's named that for good reason! This sandwich is literally ridiculous! It's a patty with american cheese, bacon, ham, spam, a fried egg, lettuce, tomato, grilled onions, ketchup, mustard, and mayo inbetween two grilled cheese sandwiches instead of a bun. This sandwich will give you a mild heart attack. It's tasty but eat at your own risk!

WHY AREN'T THERE MORE OF THESE THINGS AROUND?! Probably a blessing in disguise because I would most likely gain 50 pounds from the buttery, rich texas toast. You can make your own sandwich or choose from one of their many classics. Either way, be prepared to pay less than $10 for amazingness in your mouth. Ask for the Habanero Hot Sauce: Secret Aardvark - an amazing discovery we made during our trip to Portland. No joke, this sauce makes everything taste 100x better. Highly recommended for a cheap and delicious meal.

Was disappointed ....I ordered the monte Cristo which has ham cheese onions syrup on Texas toast.....and was excited to see how the yelpers steered me to a great place. It was a overlooked fried egg so rubbery, 3 pieces (not slices) of cooked onion and a hint of maple syrup with a half slice of melted cheese and too much ham.....it has the makings of something great....but seemed to miss the potential of a great breakfast sarnie..... It's probably better as a burger place? Plus side the server was very cheery which brought a smile to my face....

How can you not love mimosas in a plastic cup with a lid and a straw! Not fine dining, that's for sure, but who cares? I will come here every time I need a Texas toast-y, melty, cheesy, bacon-y-fix! We came on a Sunday around 10 and there was a steady stream of customers but it wasn't overly busy. It's small, only 5 tables if I remember correctly, but we must have timed it right because a table became available just as we finished ordering (you order at the back, from the cashier). Husband got the omelet sandwich with added bacon, on Texas toast of course. Little guy got the grilled cheese shaped like dinosaurs because, really, everything tastes better when it's shaped like a dinosaur! I got a make-your-own sandwich - egg with cheese and bacon on Texas toast of course. And the aforementioned mimosas in a plastic cup. They were $2.50! I mean how can anyone resist? Everything was completely, crazy yummy! Cheesy, melty, bacon-y goodness, oh my! And there was no skimping on the champagne in the mimosas either. Plus there is something immensely satisfying about slurping mimosas through a straw. Let's just say that maybe some crumbs were left, but I doubt it. Next time I'm planning on spending a Sunday wandering around downtown Portland, Brunch Box will definitely be my go-to, fill-up spot!

UPDATE YOUR WEBSITE AND PRICES!!!! The food is fantastic and I have been a loyal fan, but the website prices are very off. Trial by Breakfast is listed as $5.75 but is apparently $8.75 in actuality. Big discrepancy. Free hash browns used to be on Sundays when you ordered a sandwich and now they are Tuesday. Disappointed in that, we went on Sundays for a long time. The burgers, breakfast sandwiches, hash browns, and onion rings are all delicious and I definitely recommend you check them out. The staff is always very friendly too!

Got the outlaw (Patty with cheddar, bacon, onion ring, grilled onions, lettuce, tomato, bbq & mayo on texas toast), and it was delicious. It's comfort food for sure, but really nothing to call home about. Maybe if I were a larger dude that gets impressed with extremely large sandwiches, then I'd be impressed. But the food's consistent, it's yummy. Just nothing too special about it to me.

I came here after spending hours drinking yummy ale at Portland's annual Holiday Ale Festival. The BF and I haven't eaten so we were starving! We came after the lunch rush which worked out perfectly. The menu, my goodness. So many different burgers and sandwiches to choose from! Since we both love blue cheese, we decided to split the Black and Blue burger and I ordered a grilled cheese. The burger came out quick and was loaded with blue cheese. A few bites and I was stuffed but continued to eat because it was so good. The meat was super moist and the blue cheese was fresh. The fries were hot and seasoned well. My grilled cheese was your typical grilled cheese but it was so good because it was loaded with butter, lol. All that was perfect to soak up all the alkie from the festival!

Over the top amazing. I want to come here every time I'm in Portland. + great menu option"s + Texas toast is insane, off the walls yummy (by yummy I mean buttery in a good way, soft yet perfectly crispy and not overdone) + BLT had tons ( a mound!) of bacon, which means it was just the right amount + PB&J is perfect. Every bite gives you gooey warm peanut butter with yummy jam. Spread perfectly throughout the whole slice of bread. Noteworthy * great service - nice staff and they'll walk your food out if you're seated outside * fun menu with sides, shakes and custom creations * pay to park on street

This is a good burger joint. They have several tasty options and the portions are large. There is not a lot of seating, so if you go during busy hours you may want to plan to carry out. I ordered The Outlaw. To start with it comes on thick Texas toast. It is topped with cheddar, an onion ring, grilled onions, lettuce, barbecue sauce and mayo. The burger is thick and full of flavor. Each of the toppings brings a nice additional taste to the burger. You get a lot of food for your money. We chose to split an order of the Black and Bleu Fries. The fries come topped with bleu cheese, bacon, blackening spices and green onions. The fries are pretty good on their own. The spices give them a unique angle and very good flavor.

Best burger in Portland. Small space with limited seating next to the main food truck area. Wednesday gets you a free egg on your meat. Great fries. Breakfast sandwiches look like they should take you through the entire day. Fast and friendly service with a local, creative drink menu.

It was a lil hard to find but it was worth it. Love the options of breakfast sandwiches and burgers. Now if we could convince them to have a kick ass bloody mary on the menu... I got the OMG burger I couldn't decide what I wanted so I figure lets get everything and figure it out later. The redonkadonk crossed my mind but I will only forgo a double by pass not a triple ;) My only complaint would be that the burger was a bit salty but then again when you have ham and bacon and spam well you are asking for it. Great spot will come back and try the redonkadonk maybe after running a marathon or the STP

(This review is similar to my own about the cart, with some additional information). If you happen to be in the Portland metropolitan area, and don't mind gaining an extra pound or five, I recommend stopping by at Brunch Box. I think I found heaven on earth. I loved this place ever since I first had it at the food cart before they expanded, and what started as a food cart on SW 5th and Stark has now blossomed into a restaurant located at SW 9th, not too far from the original. YouCanHasCheeseburger was love-at-first-bite. Their juicy patty is blanketed with lettuce, tomato, grilled onions and sauces then snuggled between two texas toast grilled-cheese sandwiches. With their wide supply of add-on options, I usually add bacon, Aardvark sauce and peanut butter to this bad boy. . As for Brunch Box, if you're a beginner, the YouCanHasCheeseburger is the must- have burger at this place. An item on an ordinary bun probably isn't worth it, and anything with a pricier tag is more monstrous, and well...awesome. The texas toast is delicious, and the melted cheese sandwich buns puts this over the top. Everything else on the inside is a delicious hot mess, and I hope you're up for the challenge. Aside from this one, I've had the Trial by Fire, the Slaughterhouse IV, Thai Bacon, and had the privilege of watching my friend devour the Monstrosity (I will say he vomited outside after, but let's keep that between us). From expanding to a food cart to a restaurant, I see this burger-monster joint having successful future expansion. I only wish the restaurant was a bit bigger as it's sometimes hard to find seating. As for their other items, their milkshakes taste mediocre and the fries, well...they're just not top-notch. I would not order those items again, but I'll keep coming back for the burgers. I just have to schedule my 4 hour cardio session beforehand. Two thumbs up for Brunch Box.

Really good breakfast sandwiches. I had the bagel sandwich. If I could order it again I may have done without the onions, but that's just me. My son got a kids hamburger (yes for breakfast) and he loved it. It was huge and he ate the whole thing. The burgers on the wall looked adventurous and delicious.

Wow! The company reaction to breakfast from Brunch Box was "best breakfast yet". This is seriously tasty and filling food. I went in on a whim with a really big order to go for the office and they happily made it. Better than that though was the quality of the sandwiches when we unwrapped them. I had a LOT of very happy people eating breakfast and there were NO leftovers... always a good sign. Brunch Box just became the default breakfast treat place for the office. We'll come back here for lunch to see how the rest of the day's menu plays out.

Fast food at its finest. High quality ingredients, creative twist on a classic, and you've got a hit. Got a couple burgers to share because there are so many that you'll want to try. MONSTROSITY are two beef patties, 4 slices of bacon sandwiched between to gooey grilled cheese sandwiches. I literally died and gone to heaven! it sounds really heavy which it is, but it is not as greasy I thought it would be. Thank goodness! It's delicious and easily shared among two people. The OUTLAW is a burger with onion rings on perfectly toasted Texas toast. What makes this burger is the combination of BBQ sauce and a hint of mayo. I loved this one! Could've done without the lettuce unnecessary because it just ended up getting soggy and no longer added the crunch factor. The STEAKHOUSE burger was a little smaller than the other two. It was filled with mushrooms and tasted like a steak sandwich. I probably wouldn't get this again, since the other ones out ruled it.

simply awesome, it's like America in your mouth! Bacon, burgers, spam, fried chicken- need I say more? The joint serves up awesome creations and is BYOB, build your own burger! I came here for breakfast and built myself a fried chicken masterpiece on Texas toast with cheddar grilled onions and sriracha. They have great daily deals and I went in on a Sunday so they had free hash browns and $2.50 mimosas!! the fried chicken was juicy and seasoning on point and not overly salted. this is obviously not the healthiest thing in the world and I felt momentarily guilt after seeing the oil puddle my hashbrown left on a napkin but I have zero regrets! Great simple food, nice service and cheap!

New favorite hangover spot. My bf and I came here the other day after massive hangover. We were trying to order delivery because who wants to leave your bed when you feel like shit, amirite? But then we saw the pictures from place on yelp. We quickly through on our clothes from the night before and did the "drive" of shame across the river, and ventured into a part of town that we normally wouldn't, and OHMYGAWD. So glad we did. They have this entirely large menu of junk food heaven, plus specials for each day of the week. Oh and did I mention they have GRILLED CHEESE BUNS for your already disgustingly high caloric CHEESEBURGER? Yup. Totally. And of course we did that. Best decision we ever made. Our doctor may say it was the worst decision ever... But whatever. So worth it. I didn't even need to eat anything the rest of the day. The best part was that it was Saturday so 20% off for service industry peoples and I work in the service industry so we got like $6 off our already quite decently priced meal. We will definitely be back... However, id gladly pay double if you guys could just deliver it straight to our bed next time we are hungover. Thanks bai.

As we wandered around downtown, rain started to fall, we took shelter at The Brunch Box. It has a fun concept specializing in breakfast sandwiches and burgers. You can choose from one of the many varieties and build your own. I made my own, and clearly did not know best because the Trial by Breakfast on Texas toast that the husband ordered is where it's at; it's a fried egg with pepperjack, bacon, grilled onions, jalapenos and hot sauce. It was spicy! We were quickly learning that Portland takes its heat seriously. Nothing had been falsely advertised. There was also an unbelievably tasty chocolate, banana and peanut butter shake consumed.

I went here on a date! Haha because we both like food! It was easy. Kinda slow service but I was happy with my egg sandwich meat concoction. IIRC there weren't fountain drinks? Am I misremembering that? I think my food was $5 which is affordable in my book for something big enough to qualify as bfast and lunch. Small inside, maybe 5 tables, we wandered and ate somewhere else.

Street parking and across City Target as well as the food trucks. This place is a first come first serve counter with lots of tasty options. Definitely shell out for the bacon cheese fries. Mouth watering! We had the monte cristo, burgermeister and Hawaiian breakfast. Share if you can't finish a good portioned burger/sandwich! You can even custom order.

My first time in Portland. I didn't get a chance to eat breakfast before my flight so I wasn't sure if I was craving breakfast or Lunch. The Brunch Box seemed like just the place. It was busy. (A good sign in my book). I asked a few people if they were locals and they all said yes. (Another good sign). Sunday mornings, this seems to be the spot to kill that hangover :-) I ordered the Thai Bacon burger with a small fries and was not disappointed. The burger was very tasty and the fries were salted with what looked like sea salt. They had a few local beers in bottle but being 10:30 in the morning It was just a tad too early to start drinking.

If you want deliciousness between two buns and a fatty delicious treat that wiill be a delight to your belly then brunch box is the place for you. screw In and Out that's basically a thin crappy made patty that's super inferior and overhyped by Californians. The outdoor location is a delight and the indoor spot also has fries which is an added bonus. The staff is always pleasant to deal with and The ordering process it's super easy and unique. These are definitely the best burgers hands down in Oregon and I've tried them all and I am 1 fussy eater. If you don't like brunch box then you don't like burgers.

Brunch Box near Powell's Books is not exactly one of the biggest players of the late night scene. There are bars in Portland and lots of the world tends to have big cities where these kinds of places are open later then 10PM when Brunch Box closes. Tokyo and Seoul are known for this. However, most of Portland's eating is closed then so Brunch Box can be great for eating well into the day. Many, if not most places are already closed at 7PM. It is right near the food carts on Alder, Powell's Books and the core of downtown. I walked inside and saw a menu with impressive size. It would be fairly distinguishing to have sandwiches be the buns of another sandwhich, as some of their items do. Thus, I had an OMG Burger and a fountain soda. The burger came quickly enough and I could really taste the ingredients. The SPAM, the cheese and the beef all fit well. It was a pleasure and well assembled. I thought that the place was just for drunk or high people who want something absurd, but the taste was fairly complex. Brunch Box is for the most part an inexpensive place. The menu is nice and big with lots of chicken, unique sandwiches, burgers and beverages. Lots of seating is available. They play unique bands just like your standard Portland place that tries to be cool. This place isn't outstanding. But the food and service was spectacular and it can be a place to return and return again.

Cool concepts of food carts, different yet similar to food trucks. Anyways, the weather was a bit cold & gloomy and hungry kicks in. What to get for dinner... Brunch always sound good for dinner too so Brunch Box it is! They have some crazy items on the menu. My bf got some texas burger thing with bbq sauce which was good and I got a texas toast burger which was really good! The texas toast was super buttery and greasy of course. Nonetheless flavorful though. Pricing is reasonable and since it was more of a to-go aspect we ate in our car lol.

This is a place I try to stop each time I am Portland; it never disappoints. This time I had the Trial By Breakfast on Texas Toast - wow! Loved it! The jalapeños were grilled perfectly, still had a slight crunch, yet stayed on the sandwich as I ate. The bacon was nice & crisp. A nice blend of flavors. The staff is always super friendly and helpful.

This is the first breakfast/brunch place I tried here at Portland and it was pretty good! It's a small restaurant with a friendly staff and the food selection and pricing is pretty good as well. I was able to create my own breakfast which came out to be at a cheaper price compared to if I were to select one of the sandwiches they already offer. Their sandwiches are a little bit on the buttery side so if you're not a big fan of that, it may put you off a bit but the food tastes great regardless. I would definitely come back here again!

This place is awesome. I tried their famous You Can Has Cheeseburger (added bacon), which is a cheeseburger with 2 nicely grilled cheese sandwiches as the bun. It was big, tasty, and only $7.50. They had a lot of other burgers that looked good also. My main criticism was the onion rings side order. The onion rings were terrible, with virtually no actual onion inside, just a lump of fried dough. Don't them. As for the burger, I would tell them no mustard next time. If you're a burger lover, you must try this. I'll be back, but it was unhealthy enough that I'd need to wait a while.

Breakfast food is by far my favorite, and this place is great because everyone can find something they like, not just the breakfast fans. Their french toast as bread for breakfast sandwiches is such a good idea I may start doing it myself. Brunch Box is delicious and I would recommend it to anyone.

  • Alley P.

Not worth the hype at all. My burger was actually smothered in mustard and their prices are way too high. Their fries are just ok and their burgers are meh. Service was slow, despite there really not being THAT many people there.

Service was super friendly. Menus was very customizable, lots of good items, more than just breakfast. I ordered the lumberjack because I love breakfast meats. This sandwiches was amazing. I am usually not a fan of French toast , but low and behold they made it perfect not soggy but not firm , soft and pillowy , warm and full of flavor. Can't wait to go back and try some burgers.

It is VERY hard to find a turkey burger in Portland. I decided to try this place strictly on that. Not only do they serve turkey burgers but they have build your own option! Awesome! I added cheese a fried egg and a onion ring to my turkey burger. Everything was great, this is my new turkey burger spot, sorry Dicks your not that good and too expensive. I will skip the fries next time though, too fried for my taste, all crunch no potatoe. Great burger though, I will be back.

Excellent! Got the Monstrosity with grilled onions and egg, very glad I did. The flavors really stood out, the meat was perfectly cooked, and the fries were solid as well. I'll definitely be back (once I burn off the million calories that is the monstrosity), and I'd definitely recommend. Can't wait to try out some of the other burgers! As another poster mentioned, I'm glad I'm not too close, otherwise I might have to be carried out! Bonus points for ATLiens playing in the background as well!

I was starving yesterday and the burger and fries really hit the spot. I love the custom burger option. -1 b/c I gave a $3 tip assuming that food would be brought to me and that didn't happen. -1 For the cashier snapping at me to return to the counter with my credit card and receipt. Apparently she overcharged me. I appreciate her correcting it but she could've been nicer about it.

A good quick breakfast or lunch. Don't expect any service if you dine in- they still serve your food in to-go bags which was a little odd. Small location too, hard to get one of their 3 tables. Build your own sandwich is a nice feature. Overall good food but they don't make much of your experience.

  • Diana C.

Greesy, delicious, heart clogging goodness! Service is good, food is great, and it's a tiny hole in the wall. I love it! I also got the cheesy fries, omg, so delicious! I got the breakfast sandwich with sausage, bacon, spam, egg, and cheese (I think it had ham too). I think my heart wanted to stop but I powered through and ate it all! LOL, didn't have to eat for about 6 hours after, that's for sure! Go, you'll definitely enjoy it!

Good (heavy breakfast) all day. Just what your hangover wants. Good bagels. The classic bagel sandwich deviates from the NY classic. Fried egg, bacon, CREAM cheese (unheard of back east) and sautéed onions. Not a bad twist on a classic. Get the everything bagel

After reading the reviews I was excited to try out this place. Maybe I just came in with really high expectations, but the burgers here aren't really anything special. The beef patty was about the same thickness as the ones on the dollar menu and overall didn't taste very fresh. I think if you're paying $9-15 for just a burger (doesn't come with fries or drink) you should be getting something a little better.

Being from California, I came to Portland with my GF for one purpose: EAT. I knew Portland was all about good food and good vibes. This was the first resturant we stopped and this place started our trip with a bang! I ordered the Outlaw and my GF had the Redonkadonk, with a side of garlic fries. My burger was DELICIOUS, and i think i devoured my entire burger before my GF even finished her half. The Redonkadonk did look Rediculous, as it has grilled cheese texas toast AS the bun, along with a patty, spam, bacon and a bunch of other goods i cant even remember. I wish I had ordered that for myself to be honest. The garlic fries, is what did it for me. I'm a huge fan of potato, especially garlic fries and these were the best garlic fries I've ever had. It will leave you with intense garlic breath, but thats what makes it so good!! Its a must-try in my opinion. Planning on visiting Portland again sometime next year, and Brunch Box will be on my list again.

Delicious! In the spirit of Portland eateries, it has some tasty unique creations. My wife and I shared The Outlaw and Big Kahuna. Both were very yummy! The fries were also amazing. My wife, a bit of a fryophile, said they might be the best fries she's ever had. High praise! The prices were reasonable, and the interior, though small, was enjoyable. The main detractor from achieving 5 stars was grease. The burgers were a bit messy, a bit greasier than they needed to be. And also the grease/oil or whatever was on the floors in areas (like near the drinks dispenser) which made it a bit hazardous to walk easily through the area.

The food here is interesting and tastes nice. My wife and I brought our three young children and they all enjoyed Brunch Box's yummy burgers. Brunch Box does a great job of fusing together flavors you might not think would go together.

The cashier was a bit rude when I asked if they had gluten free options. The breakfast sandwiches where dripping with grease. I ordered a Build Your Own Breakfast so that I could pick exactly what I wanted. You fill out a form like when ordering specialty sushi. I made sure not to check 'egg' b/c I'm very allergic. I got egg! They wanted to pop the egg out instead of making me a new one not realizing that the egg touched everything in the sandwich! My husband & kids ordered a bagel sandwich & liked there's ok. They said nothing special & the ones I make at home are better (less grease & fat). Sad to say we won't be coming back. I posted a picture of my receipt so people could get an idea how much things cost.

Saw the reviews and decided to stop here. Created a monstrosity of a sandwich which consisted of cheese sandwiches as the buns with chicken and lots of other goodness inside. Overall, it was tasty. I felt guilty eating it but you only live once right? Pretty big sandwich and the prices were decent. Would recommend eating here.

I love the cart, so it would stand to reason that the brick-and-mortar version would be as good, yeah? Yeah. The deliciousness of the BB cart, but with seating and a roof? Sign me up.

Pretty much everything I had here was excellent except the veggie patty. :( I'm not a vegetarian but 50 cents more for the patty? I had to try it. I felt it should've been 50 cents less. If you are vegetarian, just stay with cheese and veggies.

We're in town for the Rose Festival, and last night (5/24) we thought we would try the Brunch Box again ... and we are very happy we did. Aria did a great job at the counter, smiling, and patiently guiding us through the menu, making suggestions and steering us towards the most popular sandwiches. I had the Outlaw (beef patty, cheddar cheese, bacon, onion rings, grilled onions, lettuce, tomato, barbecue sauce and mayonnaise on texas toast / $6.50), which was delicious. My wife had the OMG Burger (beef patty, american cheese, bacon, ham, Spam (The King of Meat), a fried egg, lettuce, tomato, grilled onions, catsup, dijon mustard and mayonnaise / $8.50). She says it was very good. We also shared an order of the loaded Brewhouse Fries (battered(?) fries, (lots of) chopped garlic, parmesan cheese, green onions, malt vinegar and catsup / $6.00), which were really good, and proves the (twisted) adage "if one person has garlic, everyone has to have garlic, if only in self defense." So, Brunch Box, Four-Star burgers and Five-Star service.

While we were in Portland, we stayed at the Westin downtown, which happens to be just on the other side of a block from BB (so of course we ended up there). We went our first morning for breakfast and had the Black and Blue Sandwich and the Monte Cristo. They are definitely not for the health conscious (but don't worry because I'm not that kind of person!). I had the monte cristo, which was super tasty! I liked how that they fry their eggs to more on the done side, because I'm not a huge fan of super runny yolks. I will say I wish I had noticed that the regular monte cristo came with maple syrup instead of jam (which is the more traditional add on) because I probably would have preferred that. Because of our successful breakfast adventure, and our chance and viewing the entire menu, we decided we needed to go back one more time on our trip for a lunch/dinner. So on our second trip I got the Special Loaded fries which consisted of fries, fresh garlic, blackening spice, and sriracha mayo. They were delicious! (But also set my mouth on fire) I didn't finish all of mine and ended up eating the leftovers for breakfast the next day. I highly recommend stopping by here if you're in the area. I will note that one downside is there is very little seating so it's probably a better grab and go spot.

This place didn't win any points for ambiance, but my grilled cheese and fries were pretty out of this world. For $4.00, you can't go wrong. Simple, but delicious.

Decent but not amazing. We had burger with veggie patty on grilled cheese texas toast. The patty was ok but the texas toast grill cheese was good. Fries were good.

We are here visiting from the east coast. We looked up breakfast places near by & this is the one we chose. What a great choice! We got a bacon egg & pepper jack cheese on an everything bagel (fabulous) & a plain bagel with cream cheese. Very easy breakfast but honestly was exactly what we wanted.

Amazing sandwiches! The new special, "General Tso's Chicken Sandwich," was exactly the right adaptation from Chinese restaurant take away to a sandwich. The "Trial by Fire" breakfast sandwich on Texas Toast was the right balance of filling to bread, in spite of the thick toast, and had fantastic flavor. It's a tight space, so be prepared to stand and eat at the central bar-height table or take it away or to your car, but worth it all the same.

  • Marissa C.

The Redonkadonk. That is all you need to know when you come here. If it's your first time and you have no food allergies, GET IT and you will not be disappointed. Grilled cheese sandwiches instead of buns and a fully loaded burger inside?! I really think it should be renamed to The Heart Attack. I ordered the 5-Oh and meh, it wasn't anything special like the Redonkadonk, but it was still pretty damn good. After everything was devoured, my boyfriend and I were so stuffed, it was a challenge trying to walk out. This is a MUST when you come to downtown Portland. Apparently they also have one located with the food trucks/stands, but I liked this location because they actually had tables to sit at.

gut bomb but great for a hangover. if you happen to be downtown and want just that then go. it's definately got a nice menu and simple feel good food.

  • Cynthia M.

Gutbuster cheat day goodness. The sandwiches could be a little bit neater and the english muffins could be a bit more toasted, but other than that, this is a perfect fat day kind of meal. You can customize all the sandwiches but there are also a ton to choose from. I got the Hawaiian breakfast sandwich which was good and I was happy to see spam on the menu. Free hashbrowns and coffee on Mondays with any breakfast sandwich and it came out to a very reasonable meal. Far from healthy but great for a day when you just want to be sloppy fat and love it!

  • Ian M.

cheap delicious and reliable, I always go for the build your own breakfast sandwich, sometimes get fries shakes seem a bit overpriced for the small amount you get vs the price and you have to pay extra for the ranch to go with your fries, but it's worth it, extra tasty always go for the Texas toast buns option, TOO GOOD also they have ample seating indoors and out

    (4)
  • V Z.

This place is pretty tasty. The burgers are cooked to order and made fast. I could have used a ltitle more fries in my bag. It looksl ike they just threw in 8 french fries in a paper bag and called it a day. But I'd definitely come back and try all their different burgers. The meat is juicy and flavorful and the sauces are on point.

  • Suzanne T.

Had the outlaw. Delicious. It was greasy with the Texas toast but just enough to not feel gross about it. Bacon was cooked perfectly. It didn't slide all over the place even when I cut in half. Wish I had added an egg. The patty was seasoned... Maybe a little too much salt but that's ok. I didn't like the $3.50 upgrade to a meal. It's a small amount of fries and an even smaller cup. An upgrade should save some money not add another side. I think my total was about $12.25 bc of no tax. Fries were good. If you don't drink soda, then just get the fries with no drink. My girlfriend thought the cashier was a little rude. She was counting out the registry and very disengaged. Overall, I would still come back.

When I heard that Brunch Box was opening up a brick and mortar, I admit I got a little giddy. If I'm feeling like I just want some gluttony, I go to brunch box. I know what I'm eating there isn't probably the healthiest choice, but who cares. They are quick, prompt, and effificient. Plus there are more options to choose from besides burgers. The interior is a little cramped at times and it may be hard to find a place to sit. Other than that, the fries plus the chicken and other options balance it out. You still fill a card out with what you want with little to no hassle. The fries are a generous portion and can be meant for sharing if one chooses to. The service is friendly and people do come and go at a brisk pace. This is a great spot even for those who want to have a "cheat" day from their usual life routine. Even grab a beer or 2 to wash down the guilty pleasure!

I can't say that I am impressed but the food is still good, I think it was the cashier that made this one hard for me. She seemed very tired as I'm sure Halloween got to her but she messed up the order and didn't like the requests I had for our order. Apparently I confused her. The floor is really beat up and the place could be cleaner but overall because of the good food and fast service (after ordering) I think 4 stars are well deserved here:) The edit is from the bathroom situation...no toilet seat covers and the floor is very greasy like they used too much product. Me and my son slipped all over the place!!

Flat out great burgers and fries. You're able, (in fact encouraged) to build your own burger to make sure it's just what you like. Grab a order form, design a burger will all your favorites, wait 5-7 minutes and it'll appear in front of you perfectly cooked, packed with flavor. This place is great, one of the best burger values I've experienced. Only draw back, it's super small inside, I mean like seats 15 people small. Be sure to come in on a sunny day, get your order to go, and enjoy at a place of your choosing. If you're in downtown Portland, shopping at Nordstrom say, seek out this burger mecca across the street. You won't regret it.

I was out spending the day with my mom and husband and all of us had growling stomachs by the end of the day. I did a quick search for a place that would be fast, cheap, and able to offer food to fill both my mom's small stomach and my husband's big, manly appetite. Enter Brunch Box. They have a big variety of burger toppings sandwiched between a regular bun, texas toast, or grilled cheese sandwiches...yes, you can have a grilled cheese as your burger buns! There is also an option to build your own burger. I had the Thai bacon burger that is topped with grilled pineapple, peanut butter, and jalapenos. I'm a pescetarian so I had it with a veggie patty, but still had the bacon added...ok, I couldn't help myself. I love pig and after almost 16 years, I just really wanted some! It was delicious. The bacon had a nice smokiness to it that went well with the sweetness of the pineapple, and the peanut butter cut some of the spiciness (but I love PB anyways). I would never have thought to top a burger with that combo, but it all went together well to give a nice, balanced flavour. The three of us shared an order of large fries with maybe a couple of pinches too many of sea salt, but still good. Drinks are refillable. We came here starving and left totally full and satisfied...mission accomplished! I will definitely be back to try some more of their menu items, including the breakfast ones!

    H. L. Mencken once said that "Every normal man must be tempted at times to spit on his hands, hoist the black flag, and begin to slit throats." If this is true, it would follow that every typical Portlandian, subsisting on organic locally sourced micro-farmed kale yogurt, must be tempted to eat at Brunch Box. As a matter of course, Brunch Box is probably one of the most ill-named businesses in the Pacific Northwest. Brunch calls to my mind lighter-fare with subtlety, if not compromise. Brunch Box is about as subtle as a brick through the window. There's no particularl reason you'd have this for brunch and they give you take out in paper bags, so I can't figure out the name for the life of me. What does Brunch Box do? Somewhere in the bullseye of a venn-diagram between foods that kids imagine on the 5th grade playground and expectant mothers invent during craving attacks, you'll find Brunch Box taking all of these ideas seriously and preparing them as best they can. That is to say, with a ton of cheese, bread, greasy meat, oil, fat, sugar, salt and possibly egg. Staying with this theme, they also have check-box menus to allow you to customize your own burger / sandwich / bagel with any combination of the above and then some. I've tried two sandwiches here, both were great, if shameful. I actually paper-toweled the grease of off one before eating it. Having tried two of their alternating special-flavor 12oz milkshakes, I'm actually fearful of ordering the larger size, even if the featured special was a favorite. Did I say they were great as well? They were great, but again...the shame. If Brunch Box was a person, it would be a beautiful woman...who leaves glitter and bubblegum perfume on you with everyone else asking questions about where you've been. In the same way I can't hang out with that woman all the time because I don't have the money, I can't to go Brunch Box all the time because I don't have the metabolism. And yet, I will be back sooner or later. P.S. Now open "late"...10PM? Hahaha...oh wait, they're serious, let me laugh even harder with a hearty NYC accent.

Brunch Box is the storefront offshoot of the same name popular food cart in Portland that is located just a few blocks from here. However, you do not need to fret anymore if the food cart hours don't work for you. You can come here instead for your fix. The eatery is located on a side street in downtown Portland. It would be easy to miss this place except for a noticeable Brunch Box sign that makes it easy to spot. The restaurant inside is on the small side like another popular burger joint, Little Big Burger down the road in the Pearl District. Though this one is even smaller. There are just a handful of tables along with a standing only counter in which you can eat your food. Unlike Little Big Burger which has a rather limited menu, Brunch Box does offer plenty of choices to choose from. The menu seems setup to be easily customizable like Five Guys, but is more adventurous in terms of its ingredients. It also is not just exclusively a burgers place. Sandwiches are offered include breakfast ones. They also have bottled craft beer here, but it is not as extensive as the selection at LBB. While it was breakfast time when I visited, I decided to get a burger. It was a tough decision as all 15 choices (not counting BYOB) looked pretty good. In the end, I decided to give the Big Kahuna burger ($7.25 w/ onion ring inside) a try. When I got the burger, it was delivered in a nice artsy wrapper with Brunch Box's inventive looking logo. The Big Kahuna burger is a Hawaiian style burger which includes pineapple, ham, cheese, the additional add-on of an onion ring along with the usual fixings. The burger was good. It was one of those messy and wet sort of burgers. If you like burgers that way, this would be one to try. I haven't had ham and pineapple on a burger before but it turns out to be a pretty decent combo. Having said that, I think there was a lot going on with this burger. Maybe a little too much. The burgers at LBB are simple, but I like them just a smidge better for that reason. Brunch Box is a great burger and sandwich place with plenty of menu options to choose from. Come here for the selection and customization possibilities. Though if you prefer simplicity, you would probably be better off going to Little Big Burger.

I was excited to try this place and I'm glad I did. It was yummy and cheap. My two favorite things. I had a regular cheeseburger with onion rings and it was awesome. I will be back to see if I can can conquer the burger between two grilled cheeses.

Amazing service! The food here is so good. I had the OMG Burger and I'll tell ya it's the best I've ever had! The talk in the small nook of seating was all good sensations from the sandwiches and shakes. I could tell by the commentary around me, there were locals and visitors enjoying themselves. I'll definitely return. Also, for light eaters, bring a pal and split a sandwich.

Worth a try if you are in Portland. Make sure you get it on the Texas toast which makes a huge difference. The burger itself was a little salty but it seems that was the theme with most of the food in Portland. I forgot to order my burger on Texas toast and went to ask the server to switch it less than a minute later and was told it was too late...not the best customer service but oh well. My girlfriends enjoyed their burgers! If you order a meal, the fries are small and the drink is tiny...almost not worth it. Just get the burger!

My heart beats a little slower after I eat here, but damn can they make a fine everything. Greasy, handover killing breakfasts. Big drippy burgers with excellent ingredients. I recommend any of their hot concoctions! Definitely the burger you want after a long ride or a run!

My day started ordinarily enough with my dutiful workout at the gym. I have been working out hard to get rid of my big, bubble butt. But guess what? Then "icanhascheeseburger" came along on 04/20/13 for only $4.20 and not only did I waver, I had fries with that. Yeah, it was effing worth it. This wasn't just any cheeseburger. This thing is so huge it's daunting. Nestled between two very big grilled cheese sandwiches, you will find your slab of juicy, meaty, yumminess, complete with tomato and lettuce. I specifically ordered mine without the onion. I was only able to eat part of the grilled cheese portions but did finish the meat. After the gluttonous deed was done, I was overwhelmed with guilt. What had I just done? I had just worked out at the gym about an hour earlier! I turned around and hauled my redonkadonk butt back to the gym to do my penance.

THE trifecta! Brunchbox + Fried chicken + Booze (and milkshakes!) The brick & mortar version has them all! I thought my heart would burst when I heard that the new Brunchbox has fried chicken, fries, beer, wine, onion rings, and milkshakes. It still might. I went for the Grand Opening, and yes indeed, you can get fried chicken sandwiches, along with the old standby's. Really? Double grilled cheese with fried chicken sandwiched between? With wing sauce and ranch dressing? Am I in heaven now? I can have grilled onions with that? Please add onion rings. Food coma. Seriously, it was the BEST chicken sandwich I have ever had, and most likely the most unhealthy too. Really? I don't care. It was totally worth it. BURP Let's cuddle.....xoxoxoxo

Every bite is pure awesomeness! This is my favorite hangover breakfast spot. I order the Black & Blue breakfast sandwich on an everything bagel. It's epic.

Great tasting burger joint! Was served quick and fresh. The staff was very nice and the kitchen looked clean. Gave it only 4 stars because their menu was pretty overwhelming. It's like 20 feet above your head, with lots of unique items to try to figure out. I eventually went with the build your own option.

We popped into Brunch Box for a late breakfast when our original breakfast destination was closed for a holiday, and were very happily sated with our choices. I opted for the Double Down - eggs, bacon, and cheese between two slices of Texas toast. Definitely not a healthy breakfast, but it was delicious and worth every calorie! The sandwiches and burgers served up at Brunch Box all sound amazing, and if it had been a bit later in the day (and if I hadn't felt like eggs), my choice would've been infinitely more difficult! The space is small, so if you're planning on dining in, either be prepared to wait or stalk a table and throw your stuff down as soon as there's a sign of movement (this happened to us by the people who wanted our table). Prices are reasonable, and service is pleasant.

I have unwittingly been to this restaurant more than any other in Portland. We fell into a habit of coming here for their lovingly-made and consistently excellent Omelette Sandwiches. Good portions, fantastic flavors, and a great deal, Brunch Box is one of those things that make you love Portland. If in your excitement you've neglected the Daily Deal, they will remind you so that you can save money and or get extra food. They are just that awesome.

Awesome breakfast and burger place. I got a spicy jalepeno burger that was perfectly cooked. Burgers are definitely on the larger side in terms of size. The onion rings were hot and cooked to perfection. I got an"baby buster" vanilla and banana milk shake that was not your traditional shake. It was spiced with vanilla bean and tastes like it was homemade. The grilled peanut butter and jelly was to die for. If we had found this place earlier in our trip indefinitely would have had a couple more meals here before leaving portland. They also have BYOB, build your own burger for those who dare to be more adventurous but I found all the menu items to be interesting and enticing. Service was friendly and quick, they brought it to our table. Price is on the higher end for a burger place but totally worth it for what you're getting. I would say this place is better than both Five Guys and In and Out but you'll have to try it to decide.

I was visiting from Los Angeles and was wandering downtown area for a while before my hunger hit me. I took a while to look through yelp and find the must try places in the area and came across brunch box. When I'm hangry, my taste buds tend to get pickier than usual. Didn't live up to what I thought it would be, my burger had way too much sauce on it, so much that it overpowered anything else I should have been able to taste. The rings were delicious though. I don't think this was a must have for an out of towner.

Pretty good if you want a fat juicy greasy goodness fast! Service was awesome! And the sandwich (chicken with grilled cheese) was perfect! I could only eat half but sharing it was awesome. Like I said if you want some naughty food... This is your place!

So. Amazing. Great and more importantly consistently so, combined with super cheerful service. Great music, so you boogie in line while waiting. Ordering is quick and service is fast. Everything's made fresh to order. Monstrous burgers, and handmade milk shakes. Extremely highly recommend!

Oh my god I love the OMG burger. It's so tasty, hearty and filling and everything I want in a burger or a meal. The only wish in my heart (and arteries) is that the buns be replaced with texas toast since the buns fall kind of flat, but not necessarily grilled cheeses like in the redonkadonk. I won't be able to come back for a while considering I don't even live here but I so wish I did for this burger.

What can I say. It's a great greasy spoon burger/breakfast joint with fantastically creative breakfasts and burgers. Everything seems to be built as a sandwich on grilled Texas toast. I had the "youvanhas" cheeseburger for breakfast!!! Yes, for breakfast. It's a 1/4 #patty with grilled onions, lettuce, tomato with another layer of grilled American cheese in top for a bobble decker sandwich. Served in a paper wrapper. Super friendly staff, nice and clean, five 2 too tables and a6'bar to stand at so it's doing a lot of take out as well I guess. Awesome "stand up" diner.

This place is purely gluttony and I love it. We've been here once before and had the Slaughterhouse IV and the Outlaw and a shake but this time we decided to BYOB (Build Your Own Burger) and there are some pretty awesome options to spec out your burger. From a block away you can smell what this place is cooking. Soooo good I'm telling you. They also have three different fry options to which I'm drawing a blank. We've enjoyed 2 types and they are quite tasty. It is a small joint with maybe the capacity to seat 16ppl at any given time. After you devour your burger I promise you'll be scheming as to your next burger. We should get a caravan of ppl from Eugene to head up there. My gf and I will definitely be back and I could not recommend this place any higher. It is a must in Portland!!!

Wow! This place is hidden in the middle of a side street, but once you find it, it is amazing! It's a really small shop, but there weren't that many people there at the time we went. They were the only place around still open around 9:15PM. We had a Grilled Cheese, the OMG Burger, and the Brewhouse Fries. I was kind of bummed they used shredded Parm as the topping for the fries with green onion, because they didn't melt. But the fries were made well and tasted great. My OMG Burger was the burger of all burgers: spam, bacon, ham, and a patty. WITH A FRIED EGG ON TOP. It was delicious. I'm not a fan of Grilled Cheese, because I'm lactose intolerant, but the bread was toasted really well and slathered in butter. Nomnominess.

Not for the meek, you must be prepared to eat! Always juicy and messy and when I say messy, I mean licking the juices from your fingers. Every imaginable combination plus happy hour! If your hungry and want meat, eat here!

Brunch box makes my heart sing with joy. I am in the camp that breakfast should be sold all day. Brunch box does this whilst still serving up burgers that look as awesome as they look frightening to a veggie such as myself. Pick up a menu and fill it out if you're like me and want it simple. I opted for just egg and cheese on an English muffin with hashbrowns. Grand total was $4. I am not super fancy and so I was excited that their hashbrowns were like McDonald's which is probably the only McDonald's related ccompliment I can ever give. Yet, a pretty high one. At .75 each they are even cheaper. Next time I'm eating two! My sammy was simple and good. I was surprised it was so big. The only bad thing I can say is the muffin was a bit soggy. The outside didn't have that "tastes like its got butta inside" yummy. It was still good and I ate the whole thing. I like that they have a store now. It is nice in the cold weather to sit and enjoy a meal, be able to get booze, and use a restroom to wash your paws off. Yeah I got a frequent buyers card. There is no doubt ill be back enough to use it, just if I will remember my card!

Writing this review alone makes my mouth water...the burger I had was delicious! Who knew spam in a burger would be a good combination. Their options for different burgers are so creative and all sounded so goood! You could imagine how difficult it was for an indecisive girl like me to decide on one. I'd love to go back and try them all...but for health sake, I think it's best to space my visits out by at least weeks lol.

I used to really like this place. Sad to find out that they raised their prices, nearly $13 dollars for the Lil Mo burger which was the old price for the Monstrosity ( Now almost $15). At an average restaurant that would at least come with fries. Will probably go to Tilt or Killer Burger for my fix from now on.

Came here for a quick breakfast before leaving Portland. It's not fancy but the food it great and you can go nuts making your own sandwich. Highly recommend going for the "breakfast of champions" option.

Possibly the best-kept secret in downtown Portland. Fabulous burgers and fries, excellent prices, and friendly staff. A bathroom, too! Don't know why this place isn't packed all the time!

Family and I took in this place. The restaurant is small but well worth the visit. The grilled cheese cheeseburger was excellent! Chicken tenders for the girls were huge and everything was so good and filling! Highly recommend this place for some cheap eats and awesome menu!

Grilled cheese buns sounded really good, and looked really good but was a little underwhelming when we tried it. It felt like everything except the patty was grill hot. Even the loaded fries we got were lukewarm at best.

Treachery, thy name is Brunch Box The story of Brunch Box is a sad one. For two years now it has been my go-to breakfast, brunch, lunch and sometimes dinner location. I don't think I've gone a full week without eating there since I moved to Portland, and I can count on one hand the number of hangovers I've had that I have not medicated with Brunch Box. I frequented this establishment because it was cheap, greasy and good. This brings us to yesterday. I had quite the hangover and I walked into brunch box like I have so many times before, only something was different. The menu was altered, none of the items on the menu, just the font and I could no longer locate the prices. This was not a problem for me, as I know all the items and prices by heart. I ordered a burgermister, fry's and a small shake. The guy at the register was knew and I had to repeat my order a few times. He told me the price, I paid and sat down. Something was wrong, the price was too high. The burgermister had always been 9 dollars, now it was going for 11. The fries were a dollar more too. I looked up at the menu and eventually found the prices, they were printed indescribably small and raised two dollars a burger. The shakes quickly came out and they were tiny, couldn't have been more than 8 ounces as opposed to the 12 ounce size advertised. My girlfriend and I began to worry. What had transpired here? What evil spirit had taken hold of this holy place? Then, the burgers came out. Both my girlfriend and I bite in and we find they are WAY over salted, completely different than the perfect, moist burgers we were used to. As I eat more of mine I notice a large portion is very under cooked. We are talking red here folks. I am disappointed to say that this will be my last visit to Brunch Box. I will be taking my business to the now equally priced (and far higher quality) Tilt in the Pearl District. This is the end of an era.

Perhaps I'm just enamored by grilled pineapple and spam slathered in teriyaki sauce and nestled between a toasted English muffin and an over-easy egg, but I've needed nothing more than that Hawaiian Breakfast to start off my days. The $5 Hawaiian Breakfast is definitely a good deal. Hopefully you don't mind getting your hands a little dirty either. On another trip, I tried the Brewhouse Fries. I now realize I'm not too big a fan of malt vinegar. A little later, I got the Bagel Sandwich (breakfast menu) and the fried egg + cream cheese + crispy bacon + grilled chopped onions fit together well. This sandwich still tasted good after a 45 minute bus ride. I'll be back for more, soon.

Cheap, greasy, awesomeness. Best attempt to fighting a hangover is to eat a sandwich from Brunch Box. This place does not care about your health or diet... Just your taste buds.

Holy badonkadonck! Knew I would not have room for that specially item so went for the mushroom/swiss/steaksause burger. It has a name but my clogged arteries are restricting the blood flow to my brain. Hubby had the black and blue burger, I got a thumbs up signal between bites. Ordered the bacon, green onion and cheese fries. Not as much cheeses but the ranch that comes with it is pretty good. I am getting used to the busing your own table concept of Portlandandia seems silly though in a city were you can't pump your own gas.

I had the Trial by Breakfast on Texas toast. The peppers were hot, the bacon was greasy, and the eggs & cheese were all mixed in between. Yummm! The staff was friendly, the prices were fair, good spot.

...yeah okay. This place is like all of my best food dreams in college turned into a nightmare. It's like every unhealthy choice that I made in college that contributed to my freshman 15(+) ...times 50. Yeah sure, we can put an egg, way too much cheese, and every single kind of breakfast meat in a sandwich. Sure. Oh. You want to die sooner? well, we can turn your texas toast buns for your sandwich into two grilled cheese sandwiches with all the fillings in between the sandwiches. Why not? This place is like YOLO gone bad. I will come here on days that I'm really depressed and need to emotionally eat some crap food. But besides that... once was enough.

I have to admit, that finding a reasonably priced good luch in the downtown Portland area can be difficult. I was greatly surprised to find this fantastic eatery. Magnificent food, prices ultra reasonable, service great, location easy to find and get to.
