Queen Labeefa VERY good. salamiggedon is next. The chips? Booya. It was quick and efficient too. A very nice addition to the neighborhood. Bacavo for breakfast next door. Lunch here. I'm a happy boy. 'A happy boy'. A happy boy when things are going my way.

i've only been to this location out in st. johns but YES! divey, slapped together goodness. creative names and creations. right in down town st. johns, way to contribute to an amazing neighborhood that most business won't even consider! the sandwiches are good sized and the folks serving them are casual and friendly. if we can get a little variety in sides i'd certainly give it a 5 star!

Ya know.... I'm sort of a nosy person, and I really love this place and the service is always great, I've just noticed that a lot, if not the majority, of people that come in here don't tip! I've sat in here to eat my sandwich and just noticed that people don't put a dollar in the jar or even put anything on the credit/debit slip. Do you guys not even appreciate service!? You can't live your life that way. Appreciate the food, drink, service you receive in life and leave a tip. That's how the world works. We all work for a living. You know that.

I'm stuffing my face with one of their sandwiches right this very moment and let me tell you: It's incredible. Like, devastating and mind blowing levels of incredible. Both today and yesterday, I was tasked of getting some of our out of town execs lunch and yesterday they wanted sandwiches just because they were easy, satisfying and quick. I had 8 people to feed in less than an hour and after calling this shop and placing an order, it was ready exactly when i asked for it to be and handed over by the nicest woman ever. I didn't get anything for myself because to be honest, I'm not much of a sandwich lover. Blasphemy to some reading this, I know. After everyone ate, every one of them made a point to tell me how good the sandwiches were. Didn't think much of it besides we could use them again next time. Still happy with that since compliments are always preferred to complaints when it comes to upper management seeking me out. I digress. Fast forward to today, i'm told they want the same thing and then instructed this time to get a sandwich for myself since I was picking lunch up again. Reluctantly, I opted for the Turkey it to the Limit since it seemed simple enough and I it's hard to mess up a turkey sando. I'm glad I followed my boss' instructions to get one because I would have missed out otherwise! Seriously, they're amazing. The tomato jam and avocado stole the show. I'm now eating the chips they provide with the sandwiches and they too, are delightful. Guys, i've been converted, but only for this place. I still don't like sandwiches from other places. :) Go now and you're welcome in advance.

Sandwiches: Very good, BUT.... Am I the only one bothered by the fact that the food preparer does not wear gloves? To watch them grab the slices of meat and cheese and other parts of the sandwich with their bare hands just makes me cringe. Three stars for tastiness, but I have to deduct two stars for the bare hands. Unfortunately, I can't eat there until they start wearing glove to prepare food.

Really expensive for what I would consider a meh sandwhich. We went on a weekend afternoon and there was only one very frazzled woman working there. She was nice enough but I could tell she needed help behind the counter and the stress was starting to get to her. It made the whole experience a little uncomfortable. They have a lovely, sunny outside patio though.

I love this place. Vegan sandwiches are delicious, consistent with the other Brass Tacks location. I love the soups and wish I could purchase it at the grocery stores. I also they were open longer hours.

I just ate a roast beef sandwich and it was delightful, and they are playing Robyn on the stereo. Now I am pretty full. Also, what a fine garden. Thanks Brass Tacks!

Just finished eating here and loved it. Its easy to miss as its a sliver in the middle of the block with a simple little sign. We ate at the counter and Lisa & Nate waited on us and crafted our sandwiches. Total foodies, this place takes food seriously. Check out their patio & garden in the back.

Very good price for cold brew coffee, large cookie, big sandwich with avocado and tillamook cheddar. Like 10.50. Plus it comes with chips. The girl was friendly and made the sandwich super fast. Delicious maple glazed ham. Great lunch stop :):)

I am SO delighted with this tasty addition to St. Johns! They have some very unique items, including cashew cheese and pickled eggs. Seating is limited but they are currently working on a backyard patio area. The staff is very nice and the service was quick. I can see myself being a very frequent guest.

So glad to have finally tried this place. Definitely one of the best places to eat in St. John's. There's a great choice of vegan sandwiches that all sounded amazing. My boyfriend and I shared the meatball wizard and velveeta sandwiches accompanied by fresh potato/ kettle chips. The ingredients all seemed very so fresh and delicious! The service was incredibly fast and friendly. We will definitely be returning to try more of their options.

Yes! Thank you! We need more great shops like Brass Tacks that deliver great quality ingredients, a fair price, with amazing results. Walk in. Look over the board for 1 minute to 10 minutes. Pick sandwich. Pay. Sit and wait. I kind of adore the packaging, it feels like I am opening up a present. Welcome to St. Johns !

Delicious sandwiches. Had The Queen Labeefah. Super good. The horseradish was a bit strong that day, but overall very good. Excited to go back and try their Meatball Wizard and Velveeta Underground sandwiches.

Expensive sandwiches in a stinky place served by pretentious doofs. Save your $10 and go some where else. I particularly like when you have ordered something, you have paid, then they tell you what they are out of... Clueless hipsters headed for bankruptcy.

Good service. That was the best part of the experience. The sandwich was really boring/low quality. It was essentially just lunch meat ham and cheese. Which would have been fine if it wasn't 8.50 for something I could make at home any time. In short, they're nice but the product is very meh for the price.

Perfect Sandwich. Perfect Location. I had the special "would, coulda, gouda" and it was delicious. Highly recommended and welcome to the neighborhood!

I thought Brass Tacks Deli was just another place with sandwiches on the menu. There's nothing that impresses you at first glance of the storefront; it looks very small, and there's just the one small-ish refrigerator case as well and a small table outside, so overall if you walked on by and ignored it, perhaps no one would blame you. But don't make that mistake. Step in and find out why you should come here immediately and have a sandwich and/or side dish. I had a difficult time opening the door (the latch was stiff and you really have to press down). The staff member eating at the table out front helped me figure that out with just a bit of chat and laughter. I was greeted immediately by another friendly young woman who showed me the ropes of how to order. A very amusing menu is painted on the wall right at eye level (yay, easy to read) and they also have menus you can mark up to build your own sandwich. One side of the menu has regular meat sandwiches and the other side had vegan offerings, and all these stock ingredients show up on the hand-held menus you can mark up. I chose the Velveeta Underground (I think you can see the ingredients on pictures of the menu posted), a vegan offering, just because it had smoked cashew cheese, on ciabatta bread. It came with Tom's potato chips and I ordered a Reed's Ginger Beer. When I bit into the sandwich, the flavor combination packed quite a flavor punch, and when I backed that up with drinking the ginger beer, well it was a brand-new day. Smoky and spicy blended together beautifully. Remember I said the shop seemed small? It's actually long, lean, super clean, and of a well thought-out design. Behind the front ordering area is the kitchen and a "sandwich bar" where you can sit and eat indoors. Keep walking and you will find the outdoor patio area. This is where I chose to eat at one of the umbrella-ed picnic tables and enjoyed the fresh, cool air and a view of their garden (herbs, lettuces); Peter Rabbit would be very happy here. The garden area borders on the outdoor shopping area of Sabi & Friends, so that was fun to look at too. Besides using items from their garden, the owners make their own pickles and some other items. I think this combination of catering to both sides of the food aisle is so smart. No one feels left out of having a delicious sandwich. The business is woman-owned and both women are friendly, smart, and savvy. I predict that Brass Tacks will be a part of St. John's for a long time to come. I'm going to urge anyone I know in St. John's to come on over and have a truly unique and delicious sandwich. I hope you will do the same because a business this smart with such great food deserves to succeed and be supported.

Two stars because the location is great, the people were friendly and they offer gluten free bread, though not without charging more. No stars for the food experience. The prices are high considering I am still hungry after eating my salami sandwich. The bread of my sandwich was cut on one side but not the other. As in not all the way through, making it extremely difficult to eat. And the toppings were few and thrown haphazardly onto the bread. Not likely to go back.

We were SO excited to see this place open in St. John's. Finally made it there and we were not disappointed. Unique and tasty sandwiches that feed the need for a great casual lunch stop. We will defiantly be back for more!

Solid sammys in St Johns on Lombard. They have some kind of feminist pride theme going that I don't quite understand, but the food is very good. The bread is artisan made and fresh, and they don't skimp on ingredients. The menu is pretty limited and the space is cramped and and a little run down, hence the loss of a star. One of the better, if not simpler, dining options in somewhat underwhelming NoPo.

St Johns was in desperate need of a good locally sourced lunch spot. Thanks Brass Tacks! The staff is cool and nice, the food is bomb, I love that I can buy better deli food than at Safeway, and it's in the heart of St Johns, very convenient. The back patio is going to be perfect in the summer. Try the Queen LaBeefa, and a pickle on the side. Yum!
