I nearly fainted after I walked in .... Filipino Food in Oregon?... Crazyness!! Unfortunately - i was not hungry for real food, and just came in as I thought this place was just a bubble tea shop. I was so surprised when i walked in, and the aromas of Filipino food immediately hits you. The bubble tea here was really good - they are definitely generous in their scoops of boba. I got the Thai Tea bubble tea which was not from a mix, like most places. Definitely will come here again, with a bigger appetite for sure.

This is a small drink and sandwich place right next to bandito taco. I went here for the smoothy which they made with fruit only. They also included tapioca pearls which made it that much better. For about $4.50 you can get your choice of fruits. I chose the mango and lychee fruits. The service was fast and the drink was good. I wuld go back if in the area.

I go there once in a while, but when I do go, I love their boba milk tea and a filipino dish. Masarap! I love their cooking.

Boba and tea are both solid, a bit on the sweet side. A bit pricey for me though. Not used to paying 4 bucks for a boba.

I love to try out new restaurants and I have to say this was awful! I ordered a passion fruit boba tea and it was brown (appeared to have milk in it) and so sweet I couldn't drink it. I threw it away. That was the biggest waste of $4. I love bubble teas but these was just awful.

Jackfruit bubble tea is amazing. Be clear though.. Bubble tea =fruit smoothie -_-

Yelp is wrong! They're open till 8pm every night! I checked the door when I went this time. The employees were very nice and worked quickly. I got a honeydew smoothie with boba as well as the halo halo. Both were delicious! The smoothie comes in one size and its huge! This was probably the best halo halo I've tried in Oregon. I'll definitely be back again and I'll try their yummy Filipino food next time.

I thought Filipinos are supposed to be friendly...?!? C'mon tita, crack a smile. So clearly I'm not a fan of the service. It's pretty slow and the turo-turo selection was minimal. So... food. The diniguan was ok, but pretty pale, not enough dugo(?) and watery. Sinigang was pretty salty and not quite sour. It had some beans and bok choy, with pork. That's it. No spinach. No eggplant. Nada. Pork adobo was just ok. Hard to screw that up. The saving grace was the halo-halo. It had a lot of ingredients and a good size. The boba was mostly made with syrups, I think I only saw fresh avocado. Can't recommend it cause I didn't try it, but at least it's real fruit. Overall, meh. Id rather go out of my way to Tambayan for good Filipino food, this didn't even fulfill my craving. I don't think I'd come back unless it's for the halo-halo.

This place is excellent for a cheap and quick eat. My first experience with Filipino food. When we admitted we didnt know what we were looking at, the young man serving from the hot trays gave us samples of the items we were eying. Really excellent service, family run business, tasty food (try the pork and peas). My only complaint is that they use a lot of Styrofoam, instead of the biodegradable containers you usually see in the Portland area.

Love this place I usually get the same thing and she always just starts making it for me hehe. The lady's are so nice aswell, and their Filipino small rice cakes are yummy too.

Best thing yet would be their halo halo and ube ice cream. I enjoyed every bite of it !

Boba tea and stuff is good. I will let you judge the food, I found it disgusting but that's because I probably am the worst person to judge Filipino food. Seriously - maybe it's brilliant and authentic - but it was really gross to me. Lots of crazy innards and parts of animals I don't eat, lots of crazy seafood that I don't eat. So you come and try it and judge - the people were really nice. It's possible the food is awesome - I am the wrong guy to report on Filipino food...

I have been a customer here for years, and they have never failed me! I usually go here for their boba milk tea (THE BEST BY FAR) but someone recently suggested the halo halo. I was pleasantly surprised! It's full of flavor and definitely a lot better than ones I've tried elsewhere. My two go-to orders: boba milk tea, and the newly added, halo halo.

Came here for a Halo Halo and lady says there's no Ube ice cream so to wait 35 minutes. We end up just getting a Halo Halo with coconut ice cream and it was not so great. We also ordered a Longanisa plate and just got 2 small pieces, and honestly it was thee worst Longanisa I've had. Not to mention service is bad. No smile, not helpful. She clearly just wants you to get out of the store.

One word, YUM!!!!! I am half filipinio and as a child my mom would cook a lot of filipino foods not so much anymore now that I've gotten older and my lola is no longer with us. I deiced to give this place a try with their pork adobo and I was a happy camper. I also tried their thai iced tea and I think that they have one of the better do's. I enjoyed the lumpia but I liked the way my mom and I made ours better. lol but still very good. I will totally be coming back with my mom sometime. My only set back was...they don't have pancit!!!!!!

I come here all the time for boba tea. They have many flavours to choose from, and all of them taste great! After coming in five or ten times, the cashier that works there started becoming a little more friendly to me. It's nice to stop here to treat myself when I'm getting groceries or coming home.

Been craving Filipino food for a while and with the options here on the east side of Portland pretty slim I decided to make the trip to Beaverton and check out Boba Licious after reading some nice reviews here. I went at lunch time and they had plenty of tempting combo options. Basically you get some white rice and then get to pick one, two or three main courses (think Panda Express). I got the two option plate and my friend did also. We also got an order of shanghai lumpia. The lunch plates are reasonably priced ($7.99 for two item plate), and there was plenty of food, I ended taking home enough leftovers for a descent snack. The Food - Pretty good. The lumpia were pencil thin and the dipping sauce tasted like it was right out of the bottle. That was the only disappointing part of the meal. I had the adobo and the sisig. Both were really good. I've had Filipino food with stronger flavor, and this food seemed a little tamed down for all us non-Filipino's. My friend had the sinigang and the dinaguan. He liked it, but said he's had better. The dinaguan was runny, but he didn't mind that because he likes to pour the soup over his rice. The sinigang was good. I read a review on here that said the sinigang was not great because it didn't have much in it. This sinigang was loaded with stuff, eggplant, bok choy (i think) and plenty of meat. The food was tasty and good. In my opinion one of the better Filipino options in Portland. The woman behind the counter was really nice and helpful with the options. My only complaint is that I wish they were closer to where I live. Making the 35 minute drive to Beaverton for Filipino food makes it tough to justify. If they were closer, I'd be there often. I would recommend this place to anyone who's had or wants to try Filipino food, well worth the trip and it won't put much of dent in your wallet.

As a huge fan of Filipino food, this place gets it done and I can only lament they don't do the pit-fire rotisserie pig right there on site, although considering they're smack dab in the middle of a strip mall parking lot, this might be a logistical impossibility. If you've never had Lechon, and have no religious or other prohibitions from eating swine, you should give it a try at least once in your life. Boba Licious only offers Lechon currently on Mondays, so buyer beware. They also offer the highly prized crispy pata, but suggest you phone in your order at least 45 minutes in advance, to give them adequate time to prep it for you. Pancit is also available on some days in their serving line. If you know about their thin cut noodles w/veggies and meat (usually pork @ Boba L), and love it, give 'em a call and see if it's available that day. The Longganisca sausages, the lightly dusted super crispy fried Tilapia, the pork and chicken adobo, their cigarillo-thin rolled Lumpia were quickly dispatched by our group of hungry eaters. The Kare Kare and Dinuguan (both hearty stews) were quite rich and went a bit slower but made for tasty warmed up leftovers the next couple days. I won't say B-L rivals--let alone surpasses--- the most excellent Filipino bbqs I have been privileged to attend, but those are few and far in between in these parts, sadly enough (or, considering the high sodium and fat content of nearly everything in their diet, maybe not such a bad thing! How do these people stay so small? GD, that's some good eats!!!). But it's quick, economical, tasty, and friendly service. Solid 4 star grinds. ! Mabuting gana!

I ordered fried fish and mungo beans. The fish was a really good size, but tasted like it's been sitting out for awhile. I didn't care for the mungo beans because it had a lot of ginger in it and I dislike ginger. My mother ordered two dishes. She didn't care for them. I tried her sinigang, it didn't have any flavor & the broth was lukewarm. I ordered halo halo to go. I ate it shortly after while my mom did some shopping. Their halo halo was not good at all. The milk tasted spoiled. Made me want to throw up. I gag a couple of times. The medley of stuff at the bottom tasted old and was a bit hard to chew. Thank god it didn't make me sick after. Kind of bummed about our experience because after reading reviews I was thinking it was going to be good. I gave it two stars because the lady was kind to us and also packed our food to go. Unfortunately I will not come again.

I was really looking forward to taking my wife here. As soon as we walked in I could tell this was not going to live up to its reviews or my expectations. The lady behind the counter was so disinterested in seeing customers she hardly spoke to us. I don't know if she was having a bad day or what but she was not welcoming at all. The food was already prepared in warming trays and was barely warm. There was only a total of four people in the restaurant but she couldn't be bothered to bring us our drinks or Lumpia, she announced it was ready, placed it on the counter and walked away. We won't be back.

Love the banana fitter and ice halo halo. I am an Indonesian, but ice halo halo is pretty close to ice shanghai from Indonesia. I wish you also have durian smoothie so I dont have to go to the east side.

quick and good service. this joint is a bit on the smaller side but is comfy enough for the amount of traffic it gets being in a strip mall. i had the diniguan which was a bit on the thin side for my liking but the flavor and cuts of meat were good! i also had the mungo bean which i'm accustomed to having pieces of chicharon or lechon inside, that aside it was delicious. the caldereta was nothing special. my overall experience and opinion is well witht his restaurant. it was my first filipino restaurant experience since moving to Portland. i'll definitely revisit this place to get my pinoy food fix!

3 STARS Boba Licious Cafe is a Filipino "turo-turo" (point what you want to eat) resto that also serves boba (Oregonians call this "bubble tea"). When I'm in a bind and don't have time to cook AND I'm craving Filipino food AND I don't want to drive across town for it, I'd come here! [devour] *Pork Adobo: I've had their adobo and I too agree with Melvin T. that it's too greasy. I would probably skimp on this if you're watching what you're eating. *Dinuguan: Yes I'm guilty of being a fan of the pork blood + pork intestine/ear "chocolate meat" stew. Their version isn't quite the same as my grandma's but is decent nonetheless. *Kare-Kare (peanut butter stew): the broth was a bit too watery. I felt it needed to be a bit thicker in consistency. The dish came with your typical veggies (bok choy, green beans) and meat (tripe, ox tail). The meat and veggies were decently cooked, but I think the sauce should've been cooked thicker. [imbibe] *Taro Blended Boba: every time I come here the boba taste old (*gags*) and so I opt to skip the boba sometimes and just order a blended drink. *Thai Iced Tea with Boba: I kick myself now that I get the boba. But the thai tea is pretty decent. [service] The Filipino fam bam that runs the place are very courteous and helpful. Surprisingly, I bust out talking in "Tagalog" (common Filipino dialect) which can be quite choppy and admittedly doesn't sound all that great, but it just makes ordering easier. If you haven't heard, Filipino food will make your blood pressure rise as well as your cholesterol levels. I crave the stuff once in a while, but it's nice to know that there's something local in the area. In the end, if you're craving good Filipino food and willing to drive - I would suggest driving down to SE Foster to Tambayan. Don't get me wrong, Boba Licious does a decent job, but it's not the same as your Tita's (aunts) or mom's. I repeat, it's just not the same, but it's decent for the Hillsboro area. I come here because it's convenient and it's a quick fix to my Filipino food cravings.

I have had bubble drinks here. They were sub-par, but is a popular place because it's proximity to the high school. I will be avoiding eating here. Tonight this place was on the KPTV 12's "Dirty Dining" segment. It scored 79, where 70 is failing. They were found to have improper storage and handling of refrigerated and cooked food. Sitting hot food was 50 degrees cooler than what its supposed to be. They said the owner didn't even know the rules and regulations for food handling. Eat with caution.

Best halo-halo with ube ice cream in town! I was craving this one day and I have never seen a place around that served this. I looked it up through google by searching for bubble tea or boba and this place came up. I have been coming here since last summer and I cannot get enough!

Saw the sign for this place and stopped on a whim. It's hard to come by boba in Portland so I was excited to get some tea. It wasn't anything to be excited about in the end and the girl working seemed disinterested in general. I ordered a taro milk tea with boba and cringed as soon as I heard the blender. I didn't know I needed to tell her not a blended drink a milk drink so maybe that's my fault. I kinda wish I'd looked to see if there were reviews before I went in cause it seems that I'm not the only one who didn't dig it. Maybe come here for food? I didn't try it. Don't think I'll be back.

I remember when this place first opened, it was very friendly and welcoming - I was a usual customer because I love myself some Boba! It was even better now that there was one so close to home. Now since it's been under new management, I found myself going less often. Recently, I had decided to return & give this place another chance as it is my quickest fix to go here. And then I begun to remember why I had stopped going after the couple of years! I find that the "younger" lady working seemed so unhappy about being there that she always comes off as rude! I always feel un-welcomed every time. The last time I had come in, they looked at me as I walked in but said nothing. No "hi" - So I ended up initiating it instead. What happened after I said "Hello"... - (blank stare). Yep - nothing! But that is also a hit or miss because sometimes it could be like they scraped off the tapioca balls and don't care that they're stuck together and literally taste like the bottom of the pot! You're also probably getting better luck if you get the older lady (I'm assuming the owner) to serve you w/ a happier face! The only reasons I am even being generous w/3 stars is because I do love their Boba milk tea.

I've been a fan of Boba Licious for years, even before the current owners. While I very eagerly, but patiently waited 1.5 years for the current owners to get the food license so that I don't have to drive all the way to the SE for Filipino food, I satisfied myself with what I still think is the best Boba Milk Tea in town. The Boba is cooked perfectly. I miss the Green Tea option that the previous owner had but am thankful that the quality of Boba and Milk Tea remained the same. Filipino food-wise, they're great for this part of town. The food has more influences from the Northern Phillipines rather than the Southern, so they are more vinegary. I like being able to select from many different food options, not from a menu but from the hot food trays at the counter. They've started serving Tortang Talong (Stuffed Grilled Eggplant Omelet) (right now only on Fridays and Saturdays) which is now officially my favorite dish. The Grilled Eggplant has a smoky grilled flavor that is just unbeatable! KPI (Key Performance Indicators) ratings (1-5, 5 - best): Quality: 4 Delivery/Service: 3 Cost: 4

I was very excited about the fruit smoothies with boba added to it. I chose strawberry/lychee flavor and it was just delicious! As for food, I really enjoyed the pancit that was freshly made when we ordered. The garlic chicken had just a hint of garlic so it wasn't overly strong, the way I like it. However, if you like a lot of garlic taste, this wouldn't be for you. The pork adobo was super yummy, it's hard to get that dish wrong but one of the best adobo I've had on the mainland. Would love to eat here again but I do not live in Portland. Save it for my next visit!

I was craving for something different today and remember one of my friends was mentioning about this place before so I decided to give it a shot. The food was good but way too greasy.if u are looking for a healthy diet then I wouldn't suggest the food here. Their customer service was excellent !

Sarap ng Sarap! There are 2 places in Portland where I can get Filipino food here: MY HOUSE and BOBALICIOUS. When I don't' feel like cooking or want a good Sunday Family Filipino meal, I am going to Bobalicious. It is a Pinoy Plate lunch place serving Filipino comfort food. Filipino food is not the most visually stunning (putting it mildly). The food is as good as you're auntie's. Not quite your mom's good, but auntie level. Hey that is still sarap (delicious). The adobo has way too much fat. The sauce has a 1/2 inch deep pool of grease floating on top. Strain that out! It is so unappealing if you are new to filipino food. Heck, it was unappealing to me. The best thing is that they serve CRISPY PATA! It is a deep fried (lower) pig leg. Filipino or otherwise, CRISPY PATA is the best FRIED FOOD ON THE PLANET. I am so grateful there is one place in all of Portland I can get Crispy Pata. The Boba is only 2 stars. Being from SoCal, the US birthplace of Boba, I know my boba. The tapioca balls are either under or over cooked. Instead, try the Halo Halo! Skip the Boba and stick with the filipino specialties! Service was welcoming and homey. I'm glad this is a place I can go for Filipino food when I can't cook.

Coming here for a business trip reminds me of home and makes me feel like I never left. Made friends with the ladies who own the place real quick. Salamat po ng marame. Masarap lahat ang manga ulam. I'll definitely come back when I go back to Beaverton. You gotta try the Ube halo halo and the Ube smoothie with boba. Shoots, this place is way gnarly. That's my take. PEACE!

I've been searching for a good Filipino restaurant in the PDX area, and have not found one that I really like, except when we went to Boba Licious, I thought I was going back home to have a meal at my parents' house! My dad was a good cook, but we missed his cooking, after he passed away 2005. Mom followed him, 3 years soon after. Craving for the same version of Filipino food that was so familiar to my childhood dish had become an obsession with me. They let me taste the dinuguan and it was just like how I remembered it, 45 years ago, when dad cooked it in the Philippines. They have not buy pork 'blood' since then, since we no longer butcher our own pigs. I would have given them 5 stars, but the only thing wrong I could tell you, was the lumpia was cold inside, and the outside was fried just right. I planned to having them cater my next party! No Filipino food is complete without the Halo-Halo to go! The service was faster than waiting for a meal at McD's. While there, we also have food to go, so our dinner tonight is another Filipino dish!

I think their food is good, Their pinapaitan , dinuguan, kaldereta are good, the meats are soft and tender, however there is too much fat on the meats. If they could try to make the food less fatty I think they would get more traffic. I like their bubble tea since it's not too sweet unlike other bubble tea places.

    (4)
  • Trulie N.

Love their milk tea and customer service! How they get their tapioca/boba so soft and delicious is a mystery to me. The only downside is having to leave with my hair smelling like the food, which is only bearable because their food is quite good though visually, it is not very appealing.

After reading the reviews below, I now understand why on earth a cafe that serves Filipino cuisine would be named Boba Licious, which references a Vietnamese sweet beverage. Oh, sure, the Filipinos have a version of this called 'sago' (sah-goh) so my first thought was that the owners wanted to include a term like 'boba' to make things more familiar. But the boba is not why I come to this friendly joint. Heck, I haven't even tasted their boba. I've been to this place a couple of times already because of the very tasty, authentic Filipino dishes that they serve 'turo turo' style (a.k.a. 'fast food'). And at $5.99 USD for two items served with a healthy portion of steamed white rice, it's an awesome deal! So far, I've enjoyed their dinuguan (or 'pork blood stew'), adobong baboy (pork stewed in a mixture of vinegar and soy sauce), menudo (pork in tomato-based stew), and sinigang na baboy (pork in sour soup)-- and they have plenty more options to choose from. The owners informed me that they often have two or three dishes as staples but they change the other three to five dishes almost daily. This serves the frequent visitors-- myself included-- very well indeed. Oh, sure, those dishes may make your cholesterol level spike simply by looking at them. But this very picky Filipino gives them a thumbs up on the authenticity meter as well as on the enjoyment potential for both the native and non-native alike. Additionally, the owners are very good about explaining the contents of each dish when you ask. And if you happen to be blessed with knowing the native Filipino tongue, feel free to strike up a conversation with the proprietors and brush up on your Tagalog. I know I for one need the practice. :) So, if you're looking for a welcome change in your epicurean ways, especially if you live/work in Beaverton, stop on by Boba Licious for some delicious, home-cooked Filipino food.

I've looked around the Portland/Beaverton area for a decent Filipino restaurant for quite a while now and it looks like I've found one that really serves some authentic dishes. On my first visit, I tried their "Pinapaitan" (tripe stew mixed with a few other beefy bits) and their "Kare-Kare" (beef with vegetables in peanut butter sauce). For someone who's been craving these dishes for a while (and I mean a LONG while), to say that it was a delicious meal is quite an understatement. Other dishes that I've tried since then (crispy pata, adobong baboy, dinuguan, pork guisantes, to name a few) were equally as good. I'm looking forward to trying their pork sinigang and chicken adobo sometime soon. Oh, and the halo-halo! This dessert of nuts, sweet beans, shaved ice, milk, and fruit-flavored ice cream is something that any patron should try at least once.

Out of the 2 filipino restaraunts in PDX, this one is definitely the better choice. Finally tried this place after going several times to the one in SE Portland. This is the closest to home cooking away from family (espescially when you don't cook the food)! Food is tasty, veggies used in the entrees were fresh! We tried the curry curry, adobo, tocino and the eggplant dish (can't remember the name). It was all very good. The owners were sweet to even offer a sample of their shakes and it was very tasty. Must try, will definitely go back.

I typically go here whenever I'm craving a Vietnamese sandwich. They're about $2.50 and delicious. I pair it with an occasional taro slushie. However, under the new management, the sandwiches have changed a bit and aren't quite as good as they use to be. Drinks remain about the same.

  • Lisa W.

The name of this place is really misleading -- they have exactly 2 types of tea available: a plain milk tea & a Thai tea. Don't come here expecting that you can get Lychee flavored green tea with Boba, or Almond Milk Tea, or any of the other numerous choices you typically find at a boba place. The boba was also really undercooked. Maybe the Filipino food portion of the place is better, but regardless, I leave disappointed.
