Dropped in the other day while waiting for a friend. Next thing I knew, I was drinking cheap happy hour PBR's and playing Trivial Pursuit with fellow Binks patrons. Great Alberta neighborhood bar, I would recommend it to anyone who didn't mind getting a little smoky. Being a non-smoker, this is definitely a "have to wash your jacket when you get home" kind of place. Which I suppose will all change here in a month, much to the chagrin of smokers everywhere.

Expensive PBR and jocks. Binks sucks!

Went there yesterday for Last Thursday! Horrible service, staff was not friendly! Waited 20 min to be served at the bar. There is plenty of other bars up this street. Your money is better spent elsewhere..

Great local hangout. Always great to meet up with friends here and have a few drinks. Smoking is allowed so if that ruins your experience just know that you've been warned.

This is a revised review. Terrible place. It's probably the closest bar to my house and I refuse to go there anymore. Terrible service and attitude.

    Better nachos than Mash Tun.

Binks was packed on the Friday night I visited. Lots of fun people, a pool table, and great bartenders. I was thoroughly impressed after ordering an Amaretto Orange Sour and they freshly squeezed the orange and lime. The drink was FAB! Neither bartender had tasted this wonderful drink, and the woman behind the bar was excited to have found a new libation. I'll definitely be back to Binks!

A great place to go late on a rainy night. Warm fire, nice wait staff. Almost always decent music. Great pizza too! But sometimes a little loud and tends to attract some sketchies...

A cute little bar in Alberta, Binks is a great place to meet up with friends after work. They have a fireplace you can sit around or if it's nice enough outside, they open up a garage door. There's also a couple of outdoor tables. They have some drink specials for happy hour and their pizza is very tasty. Watch it for Last Thursday, it can get crowd as it gets late.

Bink's is a great bar to visit in both the middle of summer, and winter! During the summer, you can sip a Hefeweizen in their open garage door space, or bask in the sun on the patio. During the winter, you can sip a nice Stout while cuddling up to your honey on the cushy seats in front of the fireplace. Whatever time of the year, Bink's always has great beers, salads, and service!

I love Binks. The servers are super nice and prompt. The beer selection is good and the jukebox is loaded with rad music. One of the things that really sets Binks apart from the rest is the SUPER CLEAN unisex BATHROOMS.

Bink's! I don't know why the name always makes me want to shout it. I really like this hang out. It is small and cute and has a bitchin' jukebox. They have a pool table that is usually being used but not to fear 'cause the people here have always been really friendly about respecting the quarters on the table and even sometimes joining in for doubles. The beer is cheap and they have a Simpson's happy hour on Sundays from 7-8:30. That rocks. I have had their pizza a few times and it always satisfies. I haven't had anything else on the menu but they have an array of other things to choose from. They also have two of my favorite games...nudie photo hunt and Lord of the Rings pinball. Yup yup, a girl could really get used to this place.

My favorite place in the whole wide world. Great drinks, Pizza would give 5 starts but the STAFF is HORRIBLE. rude, made a scene with the foreign ID's ugh asked for my ID (black woman), but not for my mom who's white. I think they may be low key racist Just rude with the i.d.'s

Seating out front, pool tables and Little Lebowski in the bathroom. Can't get better than that. We rolled in with about 25 people on a pub crawl for a birthday. We brought our cash and patience and things moved along smoothly. Some of our gang were standing by the outside seating in front drinking. Staff reminded several folks a few times they needed to be seated if they were drinking. The atmosphere is dark and kinda seedy, staff surly and tattooed. Basically Portland service with a snarl. Could have been our large group though...

this review is based on the pizza alone. self proclaimed pizza snob!! good ingredients and good sauce make a pizza, but the crust, the crust MAKES the pizza. a delicate balance of thin crispy crust, the right amount of sauce and just a bit of cheese make a really really good pizza. binks had that all!! the crust on this pizza sells this pizza! by far the best crust i've had in years. literally perfection. service was little slow.

Super cool little bar. There is an area just been sitting enjoying being around the bar it's kind of dark so if you have bad eyesight. Then there's a pool table room which is totally cool but kind of cramped so be careful of the pill pool cues and the drunk guys they might be hitting you in the head... I got whacked a few times not gonna lie. Inside of the pool room there is a long line, so there's a chalkboard to keep track of the line. Make sure not to step on anybody's toes and cut in line! The last room is super cool it's in the back and there is a it's open to the outside there's a bonfire everybody sitting around, and you just Kaina hang out and in the cool air smell in the fire. So cool excellent. Didn't interact with the bartenders much but there are a lot of drinks and there are a few specialty drinks up on the menu, that are pretty cheap and super tasty. I can't remember what the name of mine was but it had mint in it was citrusy and delicious!

    # Overall I've been holding this one back for a while. On Alberta, Binks is kinda the "locals" place. It is intimate, fun, and lets face it the place has some history. I'm a little bitter, though because I've lived on Alberta 2 blocks from Binks, and I still haven't cracked the secret code to get myself in as a local here. I mean, I drink a respectable amount I feel like I show up there often, but still haven't cracked that code. So maybe there's a handshake I just don't know about... If anyone figures it out please let me know. # Pros - Open late, and always an awesome social scene. - Small and intimate, and for the place I think this is actually a really nice thing. - The bar staff are consistently friendly and nice. - Jukebox.. I mean come on that's very handy. - They have a cozy fireplace. If you don't have one at home, this is a feasible option for first or second dates. - It's conveniently located for the eastern Albertans. # Cons - The crowd gets a little rough toward the 1-2am mark. I suppose this is any bar, but I literally live close enough to Binks to hear the wild ones during this time. Not pleasant. - The pool table can get a little contentious. I get the sense that there is an unspoken rule about "locals" getting first dibs. While this isn't the bar's issue, and I have only anecdotal proof its something to be on the lookout for. - If you don't smoke, don't hang out in the front. I think they're working on this, but the second hand smoke will get'cha. - I disagree with everyone else about the pizza, but I'm a self admitted snob about pizza. Bella Faccia is just a block away and so much better.

This is a very chilled little bar. Lots of great bar snacks and good vibes all ofer. Good service and go drinks equal a good time!!

I've been to this place a few times and have had mixed feelings. The drinks are usually pretty good and the vibe is nice during the summer. It's a nice spot to go considering Alberta's spotty bar scene. However I recently went during the day and the food was sub-par. It's a place I would happily stop into if I was on Alberta and wanted to get a drink, but not somewhere I would center my night around.

  • Lily S.

I loves me some Binks. It's a GREAT neighbourhood bar, the staff is super nice, and they have delicious nachos and pizzas...DELICIOUS, I SAY. Their Manhattan was served to me in a tall pint glass with ice, which made me grin from ear to ear b/c you know...MORE WHISKEY FOR ME! And if you're cold and looking for a hot drink, order the cayenne ginger toddy b/c it will save your life. Basically, just take a trip to Binks and you'll see what I'm talking about!

  • Bartek K.

I've been coming here for years. Never by choice. There's something about this place that always turns me off. It's not a bad place. In fact it can be sort of nice to sit by the fireplace. There is just something incredibly uncomfortable about being in this space for any length of time. It's probably just me. The one tangible thing is how you get service and how you pay. You have to get to the person behind the bar. That person is heavily guarded by a row of bar stools and patrons. It can be frustrating.

  • Misha R.

Absolutely comfortable without being divey, not a phrase I thought I'd ever say. This bar is cozy without being claustrophobic, with tables inside and out as well as a pool table and they're presently building a nice patio out back. The drinks are great and everybody who works here is friendly and intelligent. I usually show up at noon every other Tuesday for a drink and a conversation and it's one of the highlights of my schedule. Thank you, Binks!!

I am excited to report I just experienced the worst service yet! My partner and I live about a half a block from Binks. He has owned his home there for 15 years and had been a loyal customer for many years... until he recently has been refusing to go, saying the service is awful and he can't stand the crowd. Well, tonight I won- I talked him in to going for a drink. I have had great service here before, however this time... he was right. Both my partner and I have worked in the service industry for many years. I know the drill. Don't assume I am an asshole because you lack communication skills. I hope you; young male bartender, realize that the reason your job exists is because customers pay you money for drinks. You have no part in the success of the bar and should have nothing but respect and appreciation for the customers who provide your well being and pretend to like you because you pour them drinks. I am an over-tipper to a fault... and tonight I was embarrassed and angry enough to leave only $1 cash tip. And then... As we are walking away, this bartender felt it appropriate to applaud loudly and comment to the entire bar that I tipped only $1! Being ridiculously rude while serving me 3 drinks- one of which is a draft beer and one a shot (ordered with a FEW rocks, which you ignored and filled the glass with ice, but by then you had me so confused and uncomfortable that I didn't have the energy to point out your error) and a customer walking away disappointed does not entitle you to a gratuity. I regret leaving you any tip at all and wish I had not been too tired to express all of this directly to you. Anyway, I have to say- I have never had bad service at Binks before, and I would have previously recommended it to anyone.

Yummy cocktails, surprisingly delicious pizza (and they've got about 15 different pizza options to pick from), and a roaring fire to snuggle up to with a few friends. What's not to like? Binks is probably the only bar I like on Alberta. It's not pretentious, not too big, not too small. Binks is JUUUUUUUUST right. Although it annoys me that they don't do half-orders on the salads. I love the idea of having a small salad and one of their creative pizzas, but I don't love the idea of paying $8 for a starter salad! Bank breaker! Still, they serve Moscow mules, and I was caught in a Portlandia taping here once. Give Binks a try! It's cute and cozy.

This is probably my favorite bar on Alberta! People are friendly and, lots of hipsters but I'm not surprise. The drinks are a reasonable price: pretty strong. There is a pool table, lots of regulars but they're nice - just write your name on the chalk board. Good music, or pick your own - just need to pay. I've only had their pizza and that was delicous plus you can't go wrong!

Great place, always come here as a default. One of the best bartenders I know works here, her name is Holly. Their all great though, good locals too.

Binks is just one of those bars that I keep getting drawn back to for some reason. It could be the friendly service, or the cozy confines, or the number of outdoor/open-air options, or possibly the one pool table... I'm not sure. Whatever it is, it's all ads up to a fun bar for fun times. This place can get jam packed at times. Especially prime time on weekend nights, where the crowd is definitely a mish-mash of various styles, ages and the like. I do like that it doesn't ever seem to be too dominated by one genre of crowd, so anyone can walk in there and feel fairly well at home. The cocktails are decent, prices are good, and pours are generous enough. I'm not sure what else I could want? Oh, the food? It's tasty, but it takes forever. I've never had food come in a reasonable amount of time here. But I think that boils down to a small kitchen. Or that's what I tell myself. The tots are baked, which is not good, but the nachos are massive. And who doesn't love massive nachos, right?

I was in town for a short while and walked by Binks, looked inside and discovered that this is exactly the type of place that I like to hang and drink at. Excellent draft selections, great service and feedback. I was going to try and drink them all no matter the descriptions and/or samples given to me. Bartender was great. In my book, something speaks to me deeply when I hit the jukebox and you can play Beastie Boys, 2pac Remix and Willie Nelson which I did. I'll be back!

I...love....this....place! Came on a Friday in early afternoon and stayed ALL DAY..well into the night. The bartender was kind...the decor is cozy...and the whole day was just lovely and mellow. I sat near the pool table and just watched people play pool ...had some great conversations and all in all...a really enjoyable time! Once 8pm hit...it started to get a little overwhelmingly crowded (for me personally...but nothing above a typical night at a bar) ...so I headed out...but even packed, service was good, drinks were well made and everyone was nice.

I spent most of my college years sipping Pabst next to the fire place. Now I frequently lament, "I need an Alberta." Only the best drink in PDX!

If only I lived within walking distance to Binks in the Alberta Arts District...this would be my neighborhood go to bar.. It's really your surrogate living room/playroom ...complete with pool table and fireplace...it really is a series of smallish- cozy rooms....and its great either during a warm sunny day with front door open or a rainy evening with doors closed. Very friendly bar staff... a full bar....well made cocktails and a decent beer selection. The hours ( open to 2:30) means that the later it is , the more crowded it may be...and they offer a good happy hour selection daily. Although often crowded the patrons are friendly , a good place for people watching and the owners have created an environment you just want to go back to. If there was an award for friendliest bar....Bink's should get it.

This is a perfectly fine place to pop in for a sweet tea whiskey soda and a quick game of pool. In fact, while they were packed on my most recent visit, we did manage to get the pool table room all to ourselves. It felt totally VIP without having to lay down any VIP dollars and without being anything close to actual VIPs. I mean, really - we were a group of Hawthorne transplants looking for something different. Despite being busy, the bartender herself managed get out from behind the bar and ask us if we wanted additional cocktails. That's high service on a busy Saturday night. They have a fireplace, which I always like to mention because seeking out actual fireplace locations in the cold Portland winter is an essential bar pass time. They also have a large glass garage door in the pool table room. I can't wait to see that open in the nice weather. This is a quaint little neighborhood place. I don't live in the 'hood, but I plan to visit more often. Binks is totally worth visiting when you find yourself on Alberta.

I wish I'd know about this place back when it was within walking distance! Oh well. I'd already made my way from Hillsboro to near the airport when I got the dreaded "my flight is delayed" text. Well, hell, now what was I supposed to do with three hours? I drove down Alberta waiting for something to catch my eye -and Binks did just that. I decided to stop in for a pint. Considering it was about 1:30 on a weekday, there was just myself and the bartender - and a few regulars to boot. The bartender was super, super nice & chatty! We chatted about random things, including our favorite recent concerts & she even played a few songs on the jukebox from my favorite band! Made my time fly by. I didn't eat anything but they clearly have a great selection of food & a good looking happy hour to boot. Plus they had a great tap selection. The space itself is nice - outside seating, pool, tables and such. Very cool vibe this place has.

Cozy little neighborhood hangout! We just stopped in for a drink before we headed for a special birthday dinner for hubby. This place just feels right.. they've got a gas fireplace, and a cool paint job, mixed with some fun decorations. They also have signature cocktails and a fine/inexpensive happy hour. Plus, the folks that own the place really make you feel special. Had a champagne/elderberry flower cocktail and they have a heavy pour. The birthday guy headed for the juke box and played some nice blues to top it all off.

Came here for a quick bite to eat before heading to an event a couple weeks ago. had an old fashioned and a happy hour pizza. the pizza was ok, the old fashioned met expectations. this bar is a great go-to.

I have to admit I've been a little biased about this place over the years as my first experience here about 4-5 years ago was horrible. I had just finished having a couple drinks at the Radio Room and wanted to continue the conversation between my friend and I. We first headed to the Cruze Room but unfortunately it was really dead there so we decided to go some place a little more active and the only place that came to mind was Binks. Since it's been quite a few years since I've been here I decided to give it a shot again. The bartender tonight (Margo) was very attentive and was on it when it came to taking our drink order and following up with us. We ended up wanting to Nosh on something and took advantage of the 5 dollar pizza special. I will say that was the most amazing 5 dollar pizza I have ever had. I was totally envisioning a semi burnt Tostino's Pizza. I was completely wrong in assuming this was the case. They have premade pizza dough with their special sauce mixed with fresh crushed garlic. Topped with a heavy amount of pepperoni and blended cheeses and I will say that was just purely amazing. Ask me if this changes my perspective of this establishment? Hellz Yeah! I will definitely be coming back here again! The only reason I don't give it a full 5 stars is that I'm not too fond of the colors in that bar. Although I'm sure there will be people that will disagree with me, I find the colors a little drab.

This is a great neighborhood bar with a pool table, fireplace seating and even a private area where you can be more intimate with your party. The drinks are good and strong, depending on which bartender is working. There have been a few that made the first drink very strong and the drinks after that tasted like a drink served at a club-watered down and not so much alcohol. I love the atmosphere and the vegetarian nachos-WONDERFUL!

Loved this bar. The bartenders were super on it and the drinks were strong and cheap. I would definitely go back and if I lived locally, this would be my spot.

The last time (prior to today) that I went to Binks, I stood at the bar with cash in hand for over 15 minutes and finally left because no one wanted to take my money. There were only three other patrons at the bar. Today, gave it another shot but again didn't really feel welcome. We did jump the gun a bit, rolling up right as they opened at noon. I totally understood that the gal working wasn't quite ready to serve yet, so we didn't want to rush her and just sheepishly stood there for a while. But it became clear we were definitely bugging her by being in there. After a few minutes and lots of low-talking, debating staying or leaving, we ordered three bloody marys (two vodka, one Tanq) and headed to the outside tables to enjoy a brief burst of sunshine. We initially went there in search of lunch but decided against it as getting the drinks was enough of an apparent burden. The drinks were very good- pickled beans were spicy and the olives thick. The mix was of appropriate viscosity and it was a nice noon flavor punch. Binks itself is cute- love the old timey signs covering the pool table room, like the location, but two times feeling unwanted is one time too many for this reviewer. Somewhat of a toss up, though- reading lots of great reviews below, maybe I just don't get it.

Great food. Great drinks. I had just got in from 9 hours of traveling via airplane, and my boyfriend and I were looking for somewhere with a good happy hour going on. We opted for Bink's, with the cheap delightful pizzas. I got a cheese pizza (the $5 happy hour one) and he got a pepperoni pizza (the $5 happy hour one). We both cleaned our plates, and I enjoyed a delightful beverage on the side. YUM! Also? The bartender was SUPER nice and efficient. If you're on Alberta, drop by for a beverage or pizza, you won't be disappointed.

Great neighborhood pub! They're so friendly here! The people really put you in the right mood to just kick back and have a drink or two... Or three. I don't judge. The mixed drink selection on the board are fun and creative but of course they will probably make you a classic drink of your choosing. I had a Spicy Pineapple Margarita, which was pretty amazing. I also had the Afternoon Delight, which was probably my favorite of the day... It just tasted like guava juice with a little extra kick. I didn't have the food but I hear it's pretty good. Great place!

Small, cozy bar. Fills up quickly on Saturday night. Only one employee (that was visible), so food service was slow and menu limited. Friendly server. She was busy!

This bar is one of my favorites on Alberta St. The atmosphere is always up-beat. Everyone is in a good mood. People are very friendly and talkative. Sometimes if it is a cold night they get the fireplace going. This adds great ambiance. The drinks are pretty standard except for some specials. The specials are served in a tall glass. They can be a bit pricey but have a lot of alcohol in them so you may not want to order more than two. The pizza is really good. It isn't expensive and they have it out to you pretty fast. There is a pool table in a room next to the bar. In the summer time they have this sort of "open air" to the outside. I recommend this to anyone in the neighborhood or those visiting the Alberta Arts district.

Great happy hour from 430-630. The bartenders are always amazing, funny, and beautiful. The patrons, especially on the week days are great and the food is priced way below what it should be. Come to this place if you're looking for a bar to call yourself a regular at!

Incredibly rude bartender and slow service on a Tuesday. After waiting too long for our drinks my friend and I ordered a pizza and told the bartender we were moving to a table and she said she'd bring the pizza to us. After 30 minutes we still hadn't gotten the pizza, but it was relatively busy so we were patient. But after 40 minutes we decided to cancel the order because it was taking too long. We walked to the bar and my friend asked to cancel the pizza order. The bartender said "Yeah it's right here I just haven't had a chance to bring it to you" and she pointed hastily to the pizza which was sitting on top of a microwave. At this point we didn't want to be there anymore so my friend asked to just take it to go. The bartender's reply was "Yeah it's still warm I can reheat it if you want". After we left we sat on the sidewalk and ate half the pizza and threw the rest in the street for the cars to run over. We got more enjoyment watching the cars hit the slices than we did eating it because the pizza was just as terrible as the bartender.

I fell hard and fast for this place. A great neighborhood bar, in a great neighborhood. It's laid back and comfortable. There's a decent selection of beers and a creative, if somewhat limited menu- tots and pizza, what else do you really need? The staff was great, genuinely nice and they held up really well (the bartenders, or Binktenders as they call themselves, do all the cooking, dish washing as well as serving up the drinks) during what became a insanely busy Friday night. Prices are great- signature cocktails for $7 and happy hour even better. I loved it here, can't wait to get back!

Binks is one of my favorite neighborhood hang-outs. This tiny bar is cozy and intimate in the winter with its little fireplace nook, but it takes on a completely different vibe in the summer when the garage door is rolled up and tables spill out onto the sidewalk. The bartenders here are great. They know how to pour a great drink. I usually nurse tequila toddies all winter but come summer I love their house specialty cocktail, the Alberta. It is a fabulous drink of muddled citrus and basil mixed with vodka (I substitute tequila.) The also have some wonderful house-infused vodkas and will happily recommend a cocktail using one of these. The only food I've had here are their pizzas which are surprisingly delicious and super cheap. The juke box has a good mix of tunes and you can even submit your own "mixed tape" for the juke box. The vicinity to Tonalli's donuts is also a bonus. Sometimes, at the end of the evening when you are stumbling home from Binks the thought of a late-night donut, fresh from Tonalli's is too much to resist.

I love this place. I've been literally hundreds of times over the last 5 years. It is a great place to meet friends or just hang out and people watch. The outdoor street seating is especially fun in summer. The staff is all very cool and friendly. Food is better than average pub. Nice draught beer selection This is one of those places you can stop in at 1:00 in the afternoon for a beer and you don't feel like a degenerate.....hmmm at least I don't.

Got to say, I love my hood bar!! Every time I go in for just one drink or a couple, always have a great time. The bartenders rock and the crowd is always friendly! Need a place to grab a drink alone or with a group, this is the place on Alberta. They do a great job on the pizza and totes too!

Love this place. Great neighborhood bar with friendly people, friendly bartenders and great drinks. It can get pretty crowded during a nice warm evening, but with all the doors open, it feels pretty spacious. Definitely one of my favorite places near home. Keep it up!

This place is rad. My first visit was on the best day ever... their anniversary. $1 pints and free burgers. You cannot go wrong. The service was good. Food was good. You can sit inside or outside. The decor was lovely. Nothing over the top. They also have a pool table. I will for sure go back.

  • Stephanie B.

I had literally 2 drinks and they cut me off. I very coherently and calmly asked them why they cut me off and the bartender ran away and said she didn't want to explain why she was cutting me off. I will probably go there again because the atmosphere was super cool and the pizza smelled/looked awesome. I will not judge and say all of the bartenders are mean and give this place another chance. Just be weary that the bartenders may be very rude and mean.

I've been to Binks a couple times in the past few months and I really enjoy it here. My sister works up the street and sometimes I come here while I'm waiting for her to get off work. I come pretty soon after they open in the afternoons so it's not very crowded. I've always had good service from the bartenders. They have some good specialty cocktails here. The spicy pineapple margarita is awesome and on my last trip I had a great hot toddy. The food isn't amazing, but it's much better than your average pub. I got some chicken tenders and they hit the spot. The best part was the bucket of sauces I was given to accompany the chicken. I came here while the civil war was on and there were seriously like 10 people in the whole bar. Binks would've been a great place for a group to come and watch without having to deal with too many other people. I will keep coming back anytime I'm in Alberta!

They have a nice outdoor sign. Bink's is fine. It just doesn't grab me, though, and I don't know why. The food is fine, they have beer and a pool table. I can't think of a thing wrong with it. It just doesn't stand out in any way, so I hardly ever go there. They have a nice sign, though.

While the drinks were decent, the service and food were nowhere near acceptable. My friend and I got our drinks relatively quickly but when it came time to get the bartender's attention again, it was damn near impossible. The bartender was too busy flirting with the local grime to even make eye contact with me as I attempted to order a cheese pizza. Once the pizza order was placed it took FORTY minutes to get the pizza, and I had to take the initiative to walk 10 steps to the bar to get it myself. I had every intention of canceling the order, but, sure enough, the pizza was sitting on a MICROWAVE, luke warm, and she hastily told me "it's still kinda warm, but I can make it hot again". Um, excuse me? Why wasn't it hot in the first place? How long had it sat there to turn luke warm while being swarmed by fruit flies? I took the pizza to go, ate one slice, and threw the rest in the street to be squished by the passing by "Prius-es". The feta on that pizza did not make anything betta. NEVER going back.

Oh man. A pint glass of pineapple margarita made with their jalapeño-infused tequila for a little over $6? Tremendous! It was one of the most delicious things I've ever had. In fact, it didn't really remind me of a typical margarita at all. It was spicy, tangy and sweet. It reminded me of last summer when I used to eat fresh pineapple sprinkled with Tajin seasoning. I am definitely going back to have more of this wonderful stuff!

Normally I would hate this place. It's filled to the brim with people who irk me, the wait to play pool is excruciatingly long, and it's loud. Basically, fail. However, my love for Binks was formed on mutual hatred - the only assurance of a long-lasting relationship. The first time I ever went to Binks, it was because I was dragged in (and promised shots of whiskey) by a friend. Once inside (and suitably miserable), we were approached by one of the bartenders who proceeded to berate my friend for a previous incident involving my friend's acquaintance acting inappropriately at the bar. The more I listened, the more familiar the acquaintance in question sounded. I interjected - "WAIT! That guy from Beer Fest?" which was met by an imperceptible nod. The bartender and I then launched into an hour long conversation in which we discussed every possible shortcoming of this particular individual. While she fed me free shots of whiskey. Oh, Binks. You inspire such hatred in me. Tasty, tasty hatred.

Binks is a great place to stop off and enjoy a Friday after work beer. The prices are very reasonable ($2 Pabst) and the service is great. Whenever I have been in I have never had to wait long for a waitress to ask me if I needed something. One of the nicest things about Bink's is how accessible it is to the outdoors. They have a small patio and tables out front, and they can open up half the bar to the outside by opening their garage door. If its not a nice day outside Binks has a nice fireplace to sit and warm yourself up. I would highly suggest stopping in for a laid back, casual, enjoyable time.

i just called to say I love Binks and I mean it from the bottom of my heart. i moved right around the corner for Binks and the first time i went in the bartenders were all so friendly and introduced themselves to me. i even walked away with some tokens for free beers! On top of the friendly service, the atmosphere is welcoming and cozy. the custom cocktails are some of the best in the area. i recommend hanging out there with a few friends to anyone

Sometimes I completely forget about Binks, end up rediscovering it, and then wonder why I don't come here more often. Well, I had one of these moments last night. Oh, Binks...your drinks are fabulous, affordable and fresh. With staples like the Alberta, which is mint, orange, vodka and fizzy goodness or the always delicious ginger whiskey sour, no explanation needed, there is no reason not to check this place out. When you enter Bink's non pretentious space, you are greeted by a warm fire and comfortable seating. The crowd that hangs out here seems to always be neighborhood locals instead of cooler than school Alberta kids. Therefore, I believe this place to be an escape of sorts from the atmosphere of hipster hangouts. Also, Binks has good food! (Not that this should be a surprise considering the quality of booze) They make some mighty fine pizzas and various bar munchies. Plus, once again, this comes at affordable prices.

Pool table, fire place, all wood decor, cheap drinks, good vibe, chill crowd, what more could you possibly want in a local watering hole? I absolutely love this place. From the moment I walk in to the moment I leave, I am having a good ol time. Now that the No smoking ban has gone into effect in Portland, I like it even more! Now I don't have to leave feeling like I smoked 20 packs myself. I would definitely recommend this place for those looking to have a low key kind of night. In the summer, the outside seating is so great for people watching and cooling down with a tasty beverage. I love having this place in my neighborhood!

I'm not even going to try to sass up this review with my usual dry comments, THAT is how much I enjoy Binks. Take this review as a, "No, for real, it's rad" of reviews. In a city full of scene bars, I think this place has great drinks, fun music, a nice staff and is full of approachable people. If I were a pool player, I have a feeling I'd be upset about the one table with a super long wait but seeing as I don't play---it works out for me. The only reason I hesitate to give Binks 5 stars only because I haven't been there often enough to do so.

It was a warm afternoon we were tired and thirsty and wanted to sit down. Our destination was Siam Society next door, we were anticipating yummy happy hour appetizers and drinks with our out of town guests. It was a nice surprise, Binks. I like the vibe of the place. There is a cool seating area inside around a fireplace, but it was warmish out so I really wasn't feeling the get stuck to vinyl seating vibe. I would love to sit there in the winter though with a Spanish Coffee. :-) We sat outside on the front sidewalk and had our delicious beverages there. They have a patio that is enclosed as well but it was full which is a good sign. The time flew by and we had a couple rounds....before we knew it! The only weird thing to occur was when my Hubby was holding our table outside for us the bartender wouldn't make me his drink until she saw him. She asked that he peek his head through the door. Weird. I don't know if that is her rule or that of Binks, but I have never had that happen before. Is it a Portland thing? Anyway I would like to check this place out again at some point. I liked the Raspberry lemonade with vodka- very refreshing. There were some other tasty sounding drinks on the board I wanted to try as well....but there was more site seeing and driving to do so......next time!

I've been here for lunch and happy hour, and have never been disappointed. For lunch, I'd highly recommend the hummus pizza, it's incredibly good. The bar-staff is always friendly, and there's a funky-cool seating area around a fireplace. My friends and i have been exploring the Alberta area for awhile now, and Binks is definitely one of our favorite places to go.

Third and final hip HH tour down Alberta. I managed to kick ace in a round of doubles pool. I managed to spill a drink. I managed to buy a round and not forget my tab. I managed to leave my car because I was tanked. I like this place.. kinda sqwoozed spacewise, and maybe I just liked it more cause of the sauce in my veins. I like when old wide garage doors are open to the street. It has a good mix of friendly, swanky, hood. And my car didn't get busted into or anything overnight. Cause you know 94 camry's are hot. Alberta crawl complete.

$1.75 PBR's on sunday?! The perfect place for a church social! I had their margarita's - pretty good. But their vodka infused mojitos...ZING! Lots of nooks and crannies to cuddle up or hide in. Their kitchen seems to churn out a decent selection of food, their tator tots seemed a perfect companion piece to let's say, a mirror pond. Is tater tots a portland thing? I've seen those in a couple of places??? Will go back to check out the juke ...

I think this might be my new favorite bar. I came here for an unsuccessful knit night get together thing and still ended up enjoying myself. The girls working were so funny and really seemed to enjoy working there which is awesome, and the drinks were eeexcellent!!! Spicy passion fruit cocktail. Git choo one! If you're a fan of spicy like I am. It was so good. I love this place though cause I was comfortable being there by myself. I'm kind of a loner sometimes so that's important to me lol the ability to be there alone or with friends. This is that kind of place, it's great.

On a sunny hot day in Portland this place reminds me of a small bar on some remote island. Perhaps it's the rustic decor, concrete floors and open air feel. I went on a Saturday afternoon, it was quite, serene and the pace seemed to be on "pause" (or maybe it was all in my head after the third margarita..?) The margaritas are made from scratch and very tasty. Food is so, so...

I'm right across the street from these guys so I order tator tots and salads from them all the time. The very first day I was open the owner, Bianca, brought me flowers, so sweet! When I'm busy they have even brought my order over to me. I just had the hummus pizza which was really amazing. Ok, favorite Binks story. I had a dress on a form outside one sunny afternoon. One of the bartenders kept salivating over the dress all day. Her customers pooled together as much money as they could and bought her the dress! I gave them the, "awe, shucks you guys are so nice", discount.

Binks used to be my neighborhood bar and I'll always have a place for it in my heart. The pizzas on happy hour are a good deal at 4 bucks for a personal and they have pretty good beer on tap. The bartenders are laid back and cool. The atmosphere is nice, with a couple little rooms: a fireplace in one and a pool table in the other. It's one of those Alberta St. converted garages, so in the summertime they open the garage doors and its really nice in there. Last Thursdays it gets too packed and you can't get a drink to save your life, but that's true of most places in the neighborhood those nights. I think I liked Binks more when it was just a beer/wine bar. Once they added the booze it started to turn a bit of a 'Chad bar'.

One of my favorite bars on Alberta! Great mojitos and great pizza on happy hour special! They have a pepperoni and a cheese pizza for 5 bucks during happy hour...they are made behind the counter by the bartender and comes with basil leaves. YUM! Great little place, nice cozy fireplace, small and intimate.

Yes...Binks is great....Great low-key atmosphere, easy to find parking, real good food & beer! Now that it's smoke free, it is a must stop to try out. They serve little personal pizzas. I love the pizza! I'm not a hummus fan, but everyone I have taken there that likes hummus says it rocks. I usually stick with pepperoni & mushrooms. Nice ice cold beer! They have a great cheap happy hour & great staff.

I like Binks. For some reason I thought I wouldn't. I had heard that the Simpsons night was lame and that the food was bad. I didn't go on a Sunday and I don't know how watching the Simpsons in a bar could be a bad time. I didn't try any of their food. I went for happy hour, which is pretty standard fare. The bartender was super nice and even came over to our table to tell us that happy hour was about to end and asked if we wanted another. Real thoughtful. Plus there's a gorgeous fireplace with cushy seating, fantastic for a cold and rainy evening. Martha, the Monday Binkstender, is awesome!

My go-to place in the Arts district. Awesome Binkstenders (Holly, Ally and Liz) redefine what great bar tending should be. Justin and Bianca have made a perfectly balanced set-up at Binks. Great drafts and cocktails and the Fallico, Greek and Tandoori personal pizzas make my mouth water just writing their names.

Very cozy little bar with a fire place, couches, and a really bitchy bartender. I would go back but would avoid the woman who served us. I was kind of suprised because everyone else we encountered in Portland was so friendly and helpful. But the bar itself was cool and it looked like they had some good cheap pizza with interesting toppings.

Binks echoes Alberta feel Someone recommended Binks bar to me and said not to be turned off by the garage door. Turned off? I thought it was way cool and added to the vibe of this Alberta neighborhood joint. The vibe is quite diverse here, just like the neighborhood. Part of the bar has almost a yuppie feel with its plush, satin, cushy seats. But then you'll spot a totally different scene around the busy pool table, and you'll realize that there's nothing pretentious about this place. I love places that just serve beer and wine. That's how a good pub is supposed to be, keeping the cost affordable to a varied crowd. I haven't eaten here, but I heard that their pizza was good. Tip: Great but busy spot to hit on Last Thursday.

Binks is a fun little neighborhood bar. The feel of it is a simple mix of something whimsical and something with a completely Portland feel. It's super open, so on nice days, the air is clean and flowing through the entire establishment. The food is somehow fancier than the booze, but it all tastes great. The staff are friendly, and the patrons are considerate and chatty.

I like Binks - it almost makes you forget you're on crappy Alberta St. It's also right next door to Siam Society and is the perfect place to wait for that joint to open so you can have delicious appetizers

4 stars for solid drinks at very good happy hour prices in a chill space. $3 wells I'd come back for a cheap drink or 2 to start the night off (have my eye on their margaritas and house-infused concoctions) before moving on to another establishment. slightly divey- in a good way. pool table, mixed (I sat between some crazy old guys and some 30-something fireball drinkers) unpretentious crowd, and bar and tables inside and some tables on sidewalk to drink at. I wouldn't think of it as a destination for out-of-neighborhooders but certainly a good local stop off or start to your night on Alberta. cheers! thanks binks see ya soon!

Great space and nice drinks. The bartender was busy but we didn't feel neglected. On a nice summer day, you can sit out on the tables outside or retreat to the cool, dark nook inside. I've been here a time or two before and I'm glad I keep ending up here.

I really want to hate this place....sounds horrible, but I do. It's infested with hipster wannabe people flooding into the streets smoking their clove cigarettes and acting superior. But I am a sucker for good bartenders, jukeboxes, and fireplaces. Hints for a good experience here: 1. Visit in off hours. 2. Don't come for food. This is a drinks only place. 3. Feed the jukebox with your favorite tunes. 4. Steal the best seats in the house by the fireplace. 5. Enjoy.
