If you're in Portland and you love Tapa style food, you MUST come here! I don't care how many food places you have to conquer in a short weekend, but you definitely need to squeeze this in! Unlike other places, the servers here know their food and what is in it. Ordered the oysters, beef heart, chicken skewers, and QUIONA BATTERED FRIED SHRIMP! The best of the best. Believe me on this.

We've eaten here multiple times before. Great location and atmosphere. Tonight we went on a Thursday at 6 pm. It seemed like there was a staffing problem. Our waiter was very nice, but the staff seemed very harried and frantic. The ceviche was good. We had the tri-potato dish which was OK. We had the yucca rellena which is wonderful, and the asparagus. The waiters were pleasant, but so rushed, and would take plates before we were done and our wine glasses before we were done. I suspect they are short staffed. Overall, a $150 dollar meal that did not seem like a $150 experience.

Andina is worth the price of admission if you are looking for a more upscale experience while in Portland. The prices are a little above average for the area, but the quality is there as well. Our group went for happy hour and enjoyed some small bites and the cocktails were excellent as well. I have been to Peru and I always love a good restaurant who can capture the flavors and dishes of that nation and Andina delivers in that department.

Great food and bar. Friendly service. I'll definitely be going back for more. I recommend the lamb shank special and the empanadas were delicious.

Damn fab margarita as I write this. Ordered beef heart kabob, chicken kabob , avocado with crab and margarita. Loved it all, didn't order much because I am planning another happy hour stop at trader Vic's. Margarita not watered down. So happy and so worth it since you don't have today dinner prices. So authentic. Loved the beef hearts so tasty!

Share the plates. If I had to do it over, that's what I would have done. We started with four or five small plates (get the empanadas; you'll thank me). We moved on to the meal plates and I ordered a roasted mushroom dish, which I would not recommend. Had I went with the duck instead, this review would have gone differently, I'm sure. Would be willing to try it again.

Love me some tapas--this place was highly recommended by fellow Yelpers and did not disappoint. The family and I shared the quinoa-encrusted chicken, chicken kebabs, oregon oysters, and ceviche. I hogged the filet mignon tartare topped with a quail's egg all to myself. Delicious. Even the sangria was top-notch. The place was super packed upon opening on Saturday night, but they seemed able to handle the onslaught of diners quite well. Didn't see a ton of 4-tops or higher, so I'd recommend that you just bring one or two friends and dine intimately.

Absolutely our favorite way to treat ourselves in Portland! Creative and perfectly executed foods, with knowledgeable and professional service. I'm always amazed just how satisfying their "small plates" are.

ANDINA! ANDINA! ANDINA! This place is PACKED. Live music, energetic crowd, knowledgable servers, delicious and unique food combinations; ON POINT. We were smushed in this little corner, but it wasn't bad because no one bumped into our chair/table and we got a good view of the restaurant, bar, and patrons! I don't remember the damage on our bill after this meal, but whatever it was; it was WORTH IT! I'm so glad my friend and I like to split things; more chances to try more things! They start you with this amazing bread with 3 dipping sauces. I wasn't a huge fan of the tropical-fruity one, but the other two were amazing. I'm pretty sure we had 3 baskets of bread and dip before we realized that we have actual food coming. Oops. We started with a small order of the filet mignon tartare (picadillo acebichado). This was my first time ever eating tartare and I would be lying if I said I wasn't nervous, but WHOA. WHOA. WHOA. I swear I could eat an entire bowl filled of this tartare every day if it didn't pose some sort of health risk somewhere along the line. The tartare was mixed with sweet red peppers, capers, olives, (maybe more things) and topped with a quail egg yolk. It was also served with sliced sweet potato and a small corn on the cob to slice and mix in. YUM; 84 billion stars. We then had our main courses: conchas del señor de span (diver scallops on potato-parsnip puree on a passionfruit reduction) and the eco a la nortena (slow-cooked lamb shank with rice and beans). I don't even like lamb, but I liked THIS lamb. it's HUGE. when they say shank, they mean like the entire leg. The rice and beans were also really delicious (who knew something so simple could be so tasty?) The scallops were cooked PERFECTLY (likely the best scallops I've ever had? Yes, that is quite the claim) and the flavors were so contrasting but complemented each other so well. I know this place is a bit pricey, but dang, if I won the lottery, ANDINA ALL DAY, EVERY DAY!

I wish I could live in Portland and eat here every day! The food is DIVINE, and the service is impeccable. We had the beef heart kabobs, ceviche, and many other delicious tapa style dishes that were amazing! Highly recommended!!!

  • Greg B.

Wow! I've been to Peru and Andina is very authentic, but taken to the next level. Food is so fresh and prepares perfectly. Make sure to try the ceviche, if you don't you will miss out on the real experience.

As a Peruvian native, let me tell you, this restaurants gets it, the food is authentic, the service was excellent and it was just one of the best meals I had in my life. My husband and I live a couple hours away (too far away from Portland unfortunately) and I was really craving Peruvian food so I chose this restaurents based on the amazing reviews, we had the lomo saltado and anticuchos the corazon and the meat was really tender, also the conchitas a la parmesana, choritos a la chalaca were really, really tasty. Recommend to everyone when in Portland! :)

I really would give this five stars but I've only been here once and maybe I just got lucky. Really, really lucky. The place was packed on a Sunday night - good sign. We chose to sit at the bar so we could order right away, plus I like sitting at the bar because the bartenders talk to you and usually you can get good tips about the food and drinks; it's also a great way to see how smoothly a place runs. We caught the tail end of happy hour so we only tried bits from that menu but the dinner menu looks phenomenal; I'll definitely be going back for a full dinner next time I'm in town. We tried a couple of their house cocktails - Sacsayhuamán (house-infused habanero vodka with passionfruit) and Ron-Yki-Ón (roasted ginger rum and grapefruit juice) - both were delicious; the sweetness of the passionfruit balanced out the spiciness of the habanero and the roasted ginger/grapefruit was so refreshing - and served with a cardamom sugar rim. We had just arrived in the city after four nights of camping so this was just our first stop on a foodie tour of the neighborhood; we ordered the Tiradito de Betarraga and the Anticucho de Pulpo from the happy hour menu. Everything was fresh and tasty, the octopus was cooked so nicely and they obviously make their own sauces (they also served us some bread with a trio of their own salsas which were excellent). At the end when the bartender found out that it had been my birthday the day before he offered us a dessert on the house. Hooray for sitting at the bar! We tried Canutos de Quinua Y Maracuyá at his recommendation (the dessert menu was too amazing to choose one) - cannolis made with quinoa and a passionfruit filling, served with some mango-lemongrass sorbet. The quinoa added a nice texture and the flavors came together really well. Overall, this place won me over; after I go back and have more food I'll probably bump my rating to five stars.

Great service by Sean! Also excellent meal and wine for 4 for only 83 total! Steak and mushroom wok style, avocado and crab, duvet scallops and creme Brulee trio are amazing!

This restaurant is up there with all the best restaurants in Portland. I love: -grilled octopus served with garlic mashed potatoes is my favorite! -crab-stuffed avocado is simple but so good and tasty -grilled diver scallops covered with a bird's nest of fried onions my hubbys favorite dish - tuna cebiche is the best ceviche I ever had!

Incredible novo peruvian experience in the Pearl district. The food is meticulously prepared and served, the setting is hip and romantic, the music is lively, and the service is simply perfect. It is pricey but it does very well at reflecting those prices in quality. I would recommend anyone in Portland to stop by Andina.

  • Aysia N.

What a wonderful experience. As a solo traveler, I enjoy visiting restaurants with great reputations. Andina really did deliver. I sat at the bar and was helped by a charismatic bartender named Ethan. The drinks were perfectly made with every ingredient listed standing out prominently. I ordered off the happy hour menu and each tapas plate was fresh and the perfect portion. The flight of creme brule was a great finish. Overall I would definitely come back. The service is quick and the ambiance is uplifting while staying casual. Sure, the prices are high but I don't worry about that when I receive quality that contributes to a fond dining dining experience.

Really special place. At $39 for lunch for two (no drinks), Andina is a reasonably-priced nice restaurant located in the heart of the Pearl District. The Lomo Saltado was so succulent and tender, it made the steak we would have the next day at Portland City Grill look bad! The Palta Rellena de Cangrejo (avocado stuffed with crab) was amazingly rich but somehow not too heavy. A very nice lady who I assume was in ownership (Andina herself?) wished my girlfriend and I a lifetime of happiness, it being Valentine's Day. I couldn't think of kinder words and a better place to celebrate!!

Went here on a business dinner with a colleague. We tried about six of the tapas, all were very good. The peppers and the avocado crab were my faves. We also had a fantastic bottle of Red wine. The service was excellent.

Excellent restaurant. One of Portland's best. Great atmosphere, food and service. The other Yelp reviews are spot on. I tried the Lomo Saltado at the waiter's recommendation. This traditional beef dish was bursting with many flavors. We didn't get to hear the weekend music where we were sitting, but the musicians sounded excellent on our way out. Highly recommend this place.

That purple yam and chicken was amazing! So was the lamb chop. ( med, not med rare better). Beet salad ok, chocolate dessert thing excellent. Why didn't I get the name when I was there? Must get that purple yam dish again. I'm craving it.

This place is magical. It has incredible food, a beautiful atmosphere, and incredible drinks!! I love this place so much! The plates are all beautiful and taste divine. The octopus and the beef heart are two of my favorites. The SACSAYHUAMÁN is a drink that no words could do justice. It has been my favorite cocktail since I moved to Portland four years ago. I talk about this drink time and time again.

Good food..loved the drinks. Try the fish ceviche. That was my favorite dish. The restaurant is beatiful and the music is festive.

I'll jump on board with a solid four stars for Andina. To start, lots of windows gives the dining area a nice feel, service was very courteous and friendly. Yuca Rellena, I'm thinking this must be the epitome of Peruvian comfort food. Kinda the way good ol' mac-n-cheese makes me feel. My Mixta Nikkei from the Causa section of the menu was light, flavorful and a nice mix of flavors and textures. Their trio of salsas, each unique and distinct, are served with bread. I see them pairing better with some type of potato, plantain or sweet potato chip. They were also a nice addition to a few bites of my tapas.

The BEST Peruvian food I've ever had. It was so good, we went back twice in the short time we were visiting Portland/Glen Eden Beach. The second time we were there, the owner came out to have a chat with us (basically the whole packed restaurant). She was the cutest and sweetest and that kind of personalized attention to the customers is what will keep people coming back. Btw, I hear they also have amazing cocktails.

First things first, shoutout to the elites: Peter Chautime and Jennifer P. for the recommendation!! So....I stick toothpicks in y'all hors d'oeuvres/ I'm a shark y'all just koi fish/ OCTOPUS, oysters. Wanna highlight two things: 1.) The grilled octopus kebobs over caper mashed potatoes, Anchuto de Pulpo, life changing. Not an understatement. I was skeptical, but after the first bite...I was at a loss for words, shed a baby thug tear. By far one of the best dishes I've ever had, very very unexpected. The lightly charred octopus is sooo tender, not at all chewy or rubbery, and perfectly offset by just the right amount of seasoning. Sort of melts in your mouth. Must order. RIP WE JUST KILLED THE CLUB. 2.) Service was outstanding. I'm one of those people who gets nervous about ordering at an upscale restaurant...obviously not used to the bougie life...and can't pronounce half the things on the menu... But our waiter was extremely down to earth, kind, accommodating, funny, cute...why didn't I get his number?...just kidding.. Everyone here is friendly, open, and more than happy to address any questions. The entire staff has unparalleled knowledge of each dish: source of ingredients, preparation, context, history, etc. Doris Rodriguez de Platt, one of the owners, actually made rounds and greeted each table. It was an honor to meet her. She explained the meaning and concept behind Encanto de Ica, their red wine-caramel flan dessert which was very decadent and plated beautifully! Overall, Andina was an epic adventure and I can't wait to go back! Phenomenal combination of flavors and presentation. Andina's just a little too perfect. Andina's just a little too worth it.

Okay I am STILL thinking about the fabulous dinner and experience at this restaurant! I had the Mahi, with shittake mushrooms in a miso sauce, absolutely outstanding! The cocktails and desert are also outta this world. It's rare to have each course so exceptionally delicious. I will be back many more times! The owner herself can by twice to check on us, she is such a sweet woman. I am very taken by this place! Peruvian food at it's finest.

Good Peruvian food but I don't think it's a good value for your money. Yes it's a fine dining kind of place and slightly more expensive than your regular Portland restaurants but the food should also speak that well. The complimentary bread and dips were really good ranging from mild to spicy..something for everyone. We didn't order the tapas because we were very hungry and so got the entrees. I wanted to get one tapas but $10 for half avocado with a little crab meat sounded too much to me. We ordered Aji De Gallina (pulled chicken dish with peanut sauce, potatoes and garlic rice). It was good but a little in the sweeter side. Rice was very well seasoned and I could just eat rice on its own. We also ordered vegetarian Quinoa risotto. Really a lot could have been done with that dish but they seemed to not put any effort in it. Just some cooked quinoa with a couple of red pepper strips and one tiny blob of cheese and for $16!! Very expensive for those ingredients and preparation. Red Sangria was very good. Like we've had in some South American countries.

It was our 17th anniversary and visiting from out of town. We were so excited about this place as we love Peruvian food and received good reviews from friends and on yelp. We were told that service could be sketchy and slow at time so kept this in mind. We had no idea how slow it would be. Our reservations were for 8pm on a Saturday night and we were seated promptly. We ordered a chilled soup, shishito type grilled peppers, grilled octopus and lomo saltado. The soup came out in about 15 minutes, then the peppers in another 15 and then the grilled octopus another 15 min later. It was now 9:15. Around 940, I asked the waitress where was the saltado and she said it was coming out in a couple of min. At 950, I told them to cancel it as we weren't hungry anymore. So it was over 35 minutes and it never made its way out. In summary, the meal was 1hr and 55 min for appetizers!!! I'm usually a patient person but I asked a couple of times to no avail. The manager came out and apologized and said he made a notation for my next visit. I told him there wouldn't be a next time and that he ruined the evening and mood. He apologized again. I'm not one to give staff crap but this manager was clueless and didn't do the right thing. They gave me the check and I was on the way. The manager said the food was ready minutes later and if I wanted it they could still bring it out. The right thing would've been to comp the entree even though we would've asked for it to go. Food was tasty but service was poor and management was clueless. Be careful on busy nights as others around us were also complaining. Sincerely, Disappointed ex-customer

So far Andina is my favorite restaurant in Portland. The octopus is my favorite thing on the menu. It's so delicious, it's the best octopus I've ever had. The scallop with brown butter was good but a very small portion. The oysters were fresh and I enjoyed the trio of sauces that accompanied them. The ceviche was flavorful. And the trio of creme brûlées had unique and tasty flavors.

What can I say that hasn't already been said about this amazing place. I've never had a bad meal here (about 4 visits) over the last 6 years. I ALWAYS get the Ceviche. It's impossible not to. Service is always professional. Great "special occasion" restaurant. The only con's, Very spendy and the entrance can get very crowded. Make reservations, it will make your experience stress free.

Drop dead fabulous here! Whether it is for fine dining, family affair or for happy hours, you must go to Andina when in Portland! Do make reservations if you are planning for a large party or want seating during peak time! They do offer a good spacious dining area that is sectioned off for only customers, who didn't make reservations, but there is still limited seating on that end! They offer up so many dishes to choose from! I was scattered brain on what to choose! I love raw oysters so I got that, grilled octopus kebab was for happy hours, so I ordered that up as well and I wanted ceviche mixto and lamb! Their zesty and tangy flavors of the dipping sauce for the raw oysters and ceviche, was delicious! I couldn't get enough of the tasty sauces that they provided with each dish! The lamb shank was nice and tender, but the sauce that was marinated with it, could have been better! The decor of this place was homely and sturdy as I would put it! Service was accommodating! We mentioned that we were on a crunch time to make our airplane departure, so she sped things up in a jiffy as much as she can! Andina it is!

The hardest part was figuring out what I didn't want to eat because I am the biggest pain in the ass. Don't bring me to a restaurant where everything sounds like a must order because indecision will be my undoing. Upon entering, our hostess asked us, "are either of you gluten-free or vegetarian?" as to indicate that they have separate menus for such because they're obviously fed up with the self-proclaimed foodie prima donnas who turn their noses up to flour like it's anthrax. I applaud them for having accommodations because, at this rate, we will all be giving birth to picky, allergy-ridden kids who will be allergic to free flowing water, grass, and their own sweat. But every nightmare has a silver lining: Andina has a little something for everyone. In 10 years, they'll serve filtered, sparkling water by default. Prior to your meal, you get a homemade quinoa baguette with several dipping sauces. The bread wasn't anything special. I'm not sure what's the point of adding quinoa, as if Costco doesn't sell that shit in bulk, except to add allure to white bread. "OOOOH, HONEY, KWUN-NO-UH! SO AUTHENTIC. IT'S LIKE WE'RE LIVING IN THE INCAS TIMES!" We ordered the beet salad, which, in my experience, was the best beet salad I've ever had. So flavorful and delicately spiced. I have wet dreams about this. The avocado stuffed with crab and topped off with a poached prawn was also a hit. If I weren't saving room for a gigantic banquet dinner later that evening, I would've ordered 10 more items off the menu. What I am not a fan of is the uncomfortably close seating arrangement if you're not privileged enough to grab a booth. The hostess sat us at not a booth and I sat so close to my neighbor, I think he was a thin layer of cotton away from impregnating me. Otherwise, not a bad choice on my short trip to Portland. Andina exists as a cruel reminder of what I am hard-pressed to find in Seattle.

Andina doesn't disappoints. Didn't have resos, came at opening of the bar and managed to get a nice cozy corner table. It would have been nice to have a dinner reso, but eating at the bar was fine. Tapas= expensive food for a bite or 2. Andina's didn't feel like Peruvian dining, more of American new with a twist of Latin American cooking. Our foodfest: Sangria pitcher- great sangria, lots of fruit Oysters- nothing out of the ordinary, love the sauces for the oysters though! Beef tartare- first time trying the beef tartare, and I loved it, delish Fish ceviche- love the citrus flavor Grilled Octopus kabobs- best thing of the night! If you are going to try any weird sea creature, try their octopus! Beef kabobs- great flavors, seasoned right Creme Brulee- 3 different flavors, would actually just prefer the usual one, but they do a great job with the other flavors as well Croquettes- least favorite, just not my style and don't like the cheese Like this place is really good for the area, but I can see that if you are from a foodie area (LA, NYC, SF) then it's just comparable and nothing out of the ordinary. Worth the money? Yes and worth the try when in Portland.

I loved the place! It was the perfect place to celebrate my birthday. Given the size of the restaurant you would think it would be incredibly loud and not wonderful service. We were a party of six, and they were so patient with. One person was late. We took forever to order, and the waiter was kind and understanding. Now on to the food. Everything was delicious. There was not one dish we would not get again. I would say the standouts would be: Yuca Rellena TRIO DE PAPAS Y SALSAS PERUANAS PALTA RELLENA DE CANGREJO All mouthwatering YUMMY!!! The only thing we didn't love was my birthday dessert. It was this incredibly rich chocolate cake. None of us could stand to eat more than one bite as it was so a little to much. However, I was grateful for the gesture, and they were gracious enough to give me a birthday candle and write Happy Birthday on the plate which was a lovely gesture. Overall, everything else was next to perfect. This is a must dine out in Portland.

Wow, I just had the best food and drinking experience at Andina! If I lived here I would be here once a week! I had the Sacsayhuaman cocktaik to start because I love a little kick in my drinks. Wooooeeeey, this was a lot of kick! My ears were on fire - and I loved it!! The taste was amazing and the sensation inhanced the drinking experience. They infuse the vodka with habaneros in house which you can see displayed behind the bar. At first I ordered only 2 plates but I loved them so much that, even though I was satisfied, I ordered another just to experience another delicious dish. I had the: Conchas Parrilla - the bartender helped me decide on this one and I'm so glad I went with her suggestion. The brown butter sauce was amazing and the fried onions soaked it up but still stayed crispy. Added a great texture to the scallop. Avocado stuffed with crab and poached prawn - this was so good. The avocado was the perfect texture. Mixto Nikkei- I never had anything like this before. A whipped Yukon potato with raw tuna and spicy crab topped with a breaded and fried prawn. It was so unique and delicious! I ended my meal with another cocktail, the "horchata de cafe". It was the perfect ending. It's icy creaminess cooled down my still burning mouth from the habanero drink and provided a sense of decadence that you would get in a dessert. I'm in Portland one more day and I'm considering going back again tomorrow just to experience more of the menu. A solid 5 stars for Andina! I will dream of this when I go back to Philly.

The food here was so good that I wanted to try every course because I felt like if I didn't I missed out on the experience. The Octopus Kebob was just the right size so that I was able to enjoy my lamb shank without being full. The band really added to the overall atmosphere of the restaurant. The service was an A+. Just wish I had my wife with me to enjoy this with

I was very pleasantly surprised with the vegetarian options. I opted for the tapas style meal and the options were all fantastic. Only one that I felt was top heavy was the fried cheese balls with cheese... Other than that light appetizers, great drinks and nice ambience... The service is impeccable, though reservations needed a few days in advance.... A great stop for a great night....

Unbelievable meal! Outstanding service! Came here for Valentines day for their set menu. Started off ordering the Oyesters and had some salmon ceviche, rack of lamb, and the chocolate cake for dessert. All parts of the meal were excellent. The drinks were amazing as well. The salmon ceviche was a nice change from what I would normally order for ceviche but it was quite tasty. The rack of lamb melted in my mouth The dessert was decadent and perfectly rich. My only gripe would to either include a beverage with the $75 per person price tag, or allow people to forgo dessert. We could hardly even eat it as we were so full.

This is less of a review and more of an instruction manual because if you live in Portland you have to go here at least once. Rule #1 DONT order an entree. At all. Don't even look at the entrees on the menu. Rule #2 you come here for the Tapas. (Drinks are great too) all the Tapas are good but the two stand outs are * crab stuffed Avacado with shrimp * cheesy potatoes Can't go wrong with any others. It gets pretty spendy but is the go to spot for any occasion, or if you just feel like balling out on some Tapas.

This afternoon, my family and I dined at Andina, an upscale Peruvian restaurant. It's a bigger place by Portland standards and on the second floor of a building. It has a modern feel. We only had to wait 10 minutes or so to be sat but our waiter took at least 10 minutes to even greet us. When he came, he was very apologetic and spent the entire service trying make up for it which he did. My husband and I had some Sangria which was fruity and delicious. For an appetizer, we had the fresh fish Cebiche and it was out of this world. My husband is from Chile, Peru's northern neighbor. He told me the food is very similar to his country so he ordered our entrees for us. I got the "Aji De Gallina" which is pulled chicken in a creamy sauce with rice and garlic and it was succulent. My husband ordered the "Lomo Saltado" which are beef tenders wok-fried with tomatoes, onions, oyster sauce, garlic and served with french fries. The meat was incredibly tender and flavorful. His only complaint was not enough french fries. It was served with 8 large fries stacked like a Jenga puzzle. He said in Chile and Peru, they like the sauce to soak into the fries so more would have been better but he loved his dinner. My daughter had a trio of "Empanadas" which are deep fried pastries filled with stuffing. One was beef with raisins, another was chicken and mushrooms, and the last one was spinach with mozzarela. My daughter devoured them. My husband and I liked them but we have had much better empanadas. They also brought out some treats from the chef which was a nice touch. One was some type of sashimi with a sauce and the other a potato and cheese thing. It was not on the menu so I can't be specific but they were tasty and much appreciated. Just as we ordered dessert, they also brought some complimentary cookies that were to die for. Two lemon shortbread cookies filled with what my husband said was, "Manjar", which is when you heat up condensed milk and it turns to a type of caramel. Then came the Lucuma ice cream which is a fruit native to Peru and Chile and it was some of the best ice cream I have ever had. It was rich and caramel-like. You would never guess it was a fruit. Finally came the dark chocolate coffee brownie which was incredibly rich but devoured nontheless. We left very happy and highly recommend this place!

Popular spot. Managed to only get a hella early dinner reservation (5pm) on a Saturday. The restaurant filled up quick. Food: The menu is pretty huge. Empanadas ($12 for 2) were just ok. Ceviche: we got the regular fish one which was ono for the day ($18). It was ok too. There's a kick to it that was a bit much for my 0-1 star spice preference. Both starters had hella raw onions. It was fine for me, but there was juts a lot! Entrees: I got the duck prepared two ways. One was a braised duck leg almost. A bit salty. The seared duck breast was better, except I just told them "medium" bc that's how I like my steak and it turned out not to be the best for duck. It was a tad raw and so made it chewier. I'd prob ask for it medium well next time. The crunch skin was good though. The entree portion was pretty big. I did not eat it all. Bf got the fish of the day which was mahi mahi. Both agreed it was too dry. Boo. Both entrees were around upper 20s. Prices: I think it's a bit too expensive for how the food was. It was all kinda just ok. So didn't really expect upper 20s for entrees. Maybe lower 20s would match it more. Also $6 little not even that good empanadas? Pass. Overall, food is not a must try, but I did like the ambiance. It had this half cultural/family restaurant feel and then half modern/fancy pants touch. Also, I've only had "Peruvian" food one other time and that was in Miami, sooo what do I know? Slash maybe worth it still bc you don't find a lot of Peruvian spots around (at least not in Seattle, where I'm from).

My SA biz is headquartered in Lima, so been there many, many times. Andina is a perfect replica of the finest food in Peru! Service is superb. Everything from the chef's "treat" to start the meal to the marvelous desserts were cooked to perfection. When the GM heard we have a home in Peru he came to chat with us. Mr Andres Ramirez is a professional, made us feel at home and sent his regards to our friend, The Consul General of Peru. A fabulous night out at Andina!

This is a must for FOODIES!! We found this place through Yelp and everything we ordered was flavorful but not overpowering. And the dipping sauces that they serve with the complimentary bread basket was fantastic too! I'm not a big dessert person but one of their most memorable dishes for me was the lacuma ice-cream!

My friend says Andina is one of her FAVORITE places in Portland. Since the dinner menu is on the pricier side, my friend says she goes for Happy Hour--which I believe starts at 4 p.m.--when she does dine at Andina ... simply because one of her favorite things on the menu is on the HH menu, and most drinks are $6 instead of $12. I've only had Peruvian food once before, but I remember liking it, so I was down to try Andina. We got there right at 4 p.m.--my friend says this place definitely gets busy if you go later--so we went for an early dinner to celebrate my birthday. The HH menu only features a few tapas, but my friend loves the HH for this very reason ... but it includes some of her favorite dishes. The tapas come in three portion sizes--small, medium and large--so it's conducive to ordering family-style and sharing everything. My friend said she never ordered the chicken before, but I wanted to try it. Since there were three of us, we ordered large portions of the "Anticucho de Pulpo" (grilled octopus kebob) and "Anticucho de Corazon" (marinated beef heart kebobs) and a medium portion of the "Anticucho de Pollo" (marinated chicken kebobs). I questioned the portion size, but my friend said the "small" usually entails one piece of the octopus or one kebob .... So ordering small sizes of everything wouldn't be conducive to splitting and sharing among the three of us. Because we showed up at the beginning of HH, we were seated immediately and our drink orders were taken. Our server was extremely helpful--we asked about recommendations and I inquired about the "Golpe de Estado" drink in particular, which I was interested in trying. Our server highly recommended it and told me that it was the best chocolate milkshake I'd ever have (that detail sold me!). Not only was service stellar (water refills without asking, etc.) but our food was also brought out really quickly, starting with the complimentary bread. Our waiter even took the time to give a detailed explanation of each type of dipping sauce (basically, mild, medium and spicy) that came with the bread. This trip to Andina made a believer out of me, and I already can't wait until my next visit to the eatery. Here's what we got: ANTICUCHO DE POLLO: This and the grilled octopus were probably tied for my favorite, out of the three dishes we ordered. This dish featured marinated chicken kebobs, served with a spicy salsa de rocoto. I used a little of the dipping sauce to drizzle over my chicken, but I felt that kebobs actually featured sufficient flavor on their own. The chicken itself was perfectly grilled--not tough and chewy, but tender and moist--which was pleasant to experience, as I've had my fair share of grilled chicken that was dry and tough. I'd definitely order this portion again; the medium was a great size for sharing. ANTICUCHO DE PULPO: This was actually the FIRST time I ever tried octopus, but my friend said the grilled octopus here was THE best because it wasn't tough and rubbery. This entrée featured grilled octopus kebobs with rocoto and caper chimichurri. Now, I really did like the octopus in of itself--if no one told me I was eating octopus (and if I were eating blindfolded, I might have never known)--but I think the best part was the caper chimichurri and the mashed potato-like starch under each octopus kebab. It was deliciously seasoned and I loved the caper chimichurri. True to my friend's word, the octopus did not taste rubbery. It was chewy enough and didn't have an overly fishy taste. I definitely enjoyed it and will be back for more. ANTICUCHO DE CORAZÓN: While the marinated beef heart kebobs--served with a spicy salsa de rocoto--were delicious and flavorful, they weren't my favorite just because I always preferred chicken over beef. The beef was good, don't get me wrong--not too chewy and bursting with flavor--but I ate more of the chicken kebobs than the beef ones. GOLPE DE ESTADO: Though this wasn't the best chocolate milkshake I've ever had, I must say, it was darn close! I really enjoyed this drink (more than I thought I would) and look forward to ordering it again. It features a 100 percent cacaolicuado de chocolate (chocolate milkshake) spiked with a pre-Columbian spiced rum (vanilla, smoked peppers and allspice), topped with a tres leches whipped cream. The drink itself was served in a tall glass that's perfect for milkshakes. I like sweeter drinks, so I'm not the hugest fan of alcohol or beer, but this rum-infused drink truly hit the spot. It didn't have a super strong rum flavor, but it was sufficient enough so that I could taste the vanilla and spices with every gulp. The drink itself was smooth and frothy, and though I normally don't like whipped cream, that tres leches whipped cream was the PERFECT complement. I highly recommend this drink if you love chocolate or prefer sweeter drinks ... this one's definitely a winner.

This meal was perfect. The chef's drink was one of the best cocktails I have ever had. I had the chicken marinated in pisco, which is a type of brandy I believe. The sauce was rich, buttery, and slightly fruity. The sweet potato pancakes with quinoa crust were unique and fun to try but probably the weakest part of the meal. The jalapeño creme brulé for dessert was awesome as well.

Absolutely must go when in Portland. The service is outstanding, the ambiance is lively, and most importantly the food was high quality. We ordered: - Filet mignon tartare 4/5 - Traditional ceviche with fish of the day (Ono) 5/5 - Beef Hearts 5/5 - Arroz con Mariscos 4/5 - Lomo Saltado 4/5 I am docking off one star because it seemed as though there was inconsistencies with the kitchen service. The couple next to us got an amuse bouche but nothing was ever sent our way :/ All in all, I would def return again.. Wishing they had one in SF because it beats La Mar's little toosh. Well done Andina! Thank you for a fantastic night of palette pleasing

Upon several friends' recommendations, I came here for dinner on a Friday night in Portland. I was a bit worried that I wouldn't be able to get a seat because it was a Friday night near the city's downtown center, but dining solo has its perks. I came just in time to catch the tail end of happy hour and took advantage of it by ordering some anticuchos de corazon (marinated beef heart kabobs). While the anticuchos themselves were fine, the highlight of the dish was the accompanying salsa de rocoto, which is a salsa made up of hot peppers and looks kind of orangish in color. It wasn't even that spicy. I dipped everything, including the complimentary bread, with the salsa, so much so that I had to ask for more. I'll note here briefly that the bread also comes with three salsas of their own. These are all very interesting and distinct, but I appreciated the salsa de rocoto so much more. For my main entree, I ordered the slow cooked lamb shank (seco a la nortena), which came with guiso de frijoles and some garlic rice. It was a decent portion, and I appreciated the flavor and texture of the slow cooked lamb. It was super easy to eat since the meat basically fell off the bone. Between the beans and the rice, it is a very filling dish with heavy, hearty sauces, and especially if you factor in the complimentary bread. Service: Waitstaff trolls the floor, ready to help you at the slightest sign that you might need someone. They're very helpful. Bottom line: Great Peruvian restaurant in Portland! I'd come back and I recommend it to my friends who visit the city.

A total home run! The food was spot-on from appetizers to entrees to dessert. I'm vegetarian and thought the wild mushrooms were out of this world. And those pisco sours were delicious. Our waitress was a plus to the entire experience - so personable, knowledgeable and accommodating.

Good food but not worthy of its past reputation. Service was the main reason to give it 3 stars but even the food was just ok. Waiter Andrew was distracted not very helpful and not particularly knowledgeable about the food he was serving (maybe he was new in the job). Wine steward was pretentious and basically contradicted the waiters recommendation. Bottom line: this place is not what it used to be. Probably catering to tourist w less focus on keeping people coming back. I was told this by several locals but gave it a shot anyway. Considering its pricy and all the great options for food in Portland I would skip it

I was pretty satisfied here. Beef heart was flavorful, tender, and perfectly cooked. Great sauce. Ceviche was a highlight. We got the fish. Some very nice heat, very fresh, and dressed nicely. Not too much bite, great balance. Potato and chicken salad. It was very tasty, but tasted a little too much like a combination of potato and chicken salad to me. Very tasty and successful potato and chicken salad, but potato and chicken salad nonetheless. Croquettes not impressive. The sauce was tasty, but they were lukewarm inside, and not that crispy outside. The sauce made up a lot of ground, but not a home run. Bread and dipping sauces were really great. Loved the garlicky green sauce. Delicious.

Andina is a true dining experience. The waitstaff is knowledgeable and highly trained. The timing of courses was impeccable and, of course, the food was just phenomenal. We arrived right on time for our reservation last night at 6:30. They were obviously very busy and we had to wait 5 minutes or so to be seated. who I am assuming is the owner of Andina (a very sweet little lady, dressed in a poncho with a lovely accent and all smiles :)) came over to us to ask if we had checked in. I let her know we did and she made a joke about enjoying the scenery of the hustle and bustle server area where we sat. When we were seated we were given menus to look over then our server came over and asked if we would like anything to drink. We asked for a moment to look over the cocktail menu and I ordered a couple of small tapas plates: the empanadas and plata avocado stuffed with shrimp and crab. We then received some lovely soft baked bread with 3 different salsas that were explained to us. The bread was just heavenly. Then another person came over with these small pieces of Kobe beef on purple potato puree with some cream sauce. Our server explained it was "a gift from the kitchen". I have a feeling it was because of our delayed seating time, which really wasn't an issue but the small bite was SO good and appreciated :) Our small plates came and they were equally devine. The empanadas are a MUST HAVE. they are dusted with powered sugar and served with a red onion/ tomato salad. I could've eaten 5, no joke. The stuffed avocado was fresh and palate cleansing. For our main course my mom got the special of skirt beef with a mushroom risotto, topped with asparagus and tomato salsa. The sauce across the beef was spicy and complex. The meet was cooked to perfection. My entree was the quinoa crusted scallops. Three perfect little scallops on top of their own little bed of pureed potato and sauteed spinach. The presentation was just amazing. We decided to pass on dessert, however, our server brought over two small buttery cookies, dusted with powdered sugar and in the middle was a dulce de leche. They were perfect. A dining experience at Andina is pleasing to all of the senses. I cannot wait to come back.

Fantastic! Make a reservation. It was busy on a Monday night. The atmosphere was great, the waitress was super helpful and friendly. Even the owner came to greet us and told us about Peru! Every dish was amazing! The ceviche, the scallops, the crab stuffed avocado, the lamb shanks and the beef rice... Then the creme brûlée, three types, we're all different tasting, and all marvelous without being too heavy. Well done, Andina. Easily my best restaurant in Portland!

I'm not sure I get the hype of Andina, but I ate there recently with friends and it was pretty good. We had a reservation so that was nice. The place was hopping and there were tons of people waiting for a table. Our table tried both tapas and entrees. Frankly, the food just seemed a hair overpriced to me. Like everything was $2 too much. That might not seem like a lot, but when you are ordering a lot of dishes it definitely adds up. The food was very good but nothing blew me away. The only rave I have is for a delicious cocktail made of habanero vodka and a passionfruit puree. So I'm sure I'll try Andina again, but I'll choose a night when I'm not all that hungry and jam out on cocktails and a small plate or two.

Came here with high expectations, and really was not blown away. The service was aloof and at times condescending, and the menu was interesting, but execution was subpar. Maybe it was because the hotel and Yelp had set expectations too high, or we picked the wrong restaurant for our first PDX experience, but we are definitely walking away from this dissatisfied and let down.

Great tapas and a unique dessert; goat cheese flan. It was light, semi sweet and oh so tasty! I are at the bar and had a great time with their bar tenders who can mix some mean mojitos.

For these prices, this place should be better run and have better food. The waiting area is a disaster. You're pressed against a wall in single file while waiters come through with food. It's a tiny passage with a podium at either end where you talk to someone about a table in the main area or the bar area. Either way, there's noplace to stand and talk with your party without blocking everything. The food we had was mediocre, but priced as if it were fine cuisine. We sat in the bar area because we didn't have a reservation, and the band blaring made it too loud for a relaxed conversation. All in all, not the best $150 I've spent on dinner for two people.

I was really looking forward to visiting this restaurant after hearing all of the great reviews. However, the food was very mediocre despite ordering almost 16-18 dishes (we were a party of 12) and unremarkable, especially for the price point! I've heard it said that the food at great restaurants is only as good as the quality of the produce and for many of the dishes the flavors were stale and the quality was lacking. The only dish that stood out in a positive light was the seco a la nortena, a slow-cooked lamb dish with black cilantro and beer sauce with garlic rice. It was flavorful and one of the only dishes that did the ingredients justice and lived up to the yummy sounding descriptions on the menu.

We had the misfortune to go here during graduation week--there were 4 tables within our sight in the bar area that had gift bags, so it was slammed. So, service was a little slow, but not too bad. We had the asparagus plate and the fried chicken bits--both were excellent! The bread with 3 dips they bring is really good! Only miss was the yucca stuffed w mozzarella--it was like eating mushy bland egg rolls. But, our server took it off our bill when I told him why I didn't like it. Nice! I would definitely go back, just at a different week.

Overall, we had a great experience at Andina. Our friends suggested the restaurant and made reservations for the 4 of us for this past Friday night (late). Our biggest mistake was that we had late reservations, but yet we started drinking wine at more like happy hour time. I may have enjoyed and appreciated my meal a bit more minus some of the cocktails. We ordered a bottle of red wine and a bunch of tapas for the group. Our waitress was attentive and helpful. We dined during the recent E-Coli scare, so all of our water was poured from small water bottles, which did not really add to the table ambiance. The food was good, the atmosphere was nice, and there was live music. I definitely recommend this to others, though this is not going to be an inexpensive meal!

Amazing!!! If I could give 10 stars I totally would. This place is incredibly delicious. From their bread with awesome dipping sauces to the crab stuffed avocado. I went there specifically for their ceviche. (I'm a ceviche whore, always on the hunt for it in different city's and states) I wasn't a fan of their ceviche, however the crab stuffed avocado was INCREDIBLE, sooo good we had to go back the next day to get more. I had a drink that was habanero infused vodka with passion fruit purée. AMAZEBALLS SO FREAKING GOOD. Next time I'm in Portland in definitely stopping by Andinos and getting more deliciousness.

Came here with 2 friends on a Sunday night. Waiting time was only 20 minutes. We got a small but cozy table near the bar. Staff was polite and orders were taken quickly and efficiently. We ordered sashimi,a medium salad, cheese platter and chicken. Portions were perfect for 3 hungry souls. Music made this place even more unique. Highly recommended!

This place was MAGNIFICENT. We went for tapas VS. the dinner menu, but that's because I'm a foodie and like to try multiple things. I highly recommend the octopus - just get the largest size they offer because the smaller portions will go so fast. The 5-Elements Ceviche was DELICIOUS as well. A must-order. The drinks were lovely, though I've had better pisco sours in Los Angeles - I'm sure it's one of the best in Portland though. The rum-based cocktail with the elderberry infusion definitely made my peers jealous. I would request the table with the Lazy Susan...so much fun and I want to build one of those tables for my dining room! The decor is so unique, yet comfortable and it's got a grand feel but quaint at the same time. I would 100% go back and intend to as well.

I expected to be wowed by Andina and sadly did not even come close. This is going to be a long one... We had reservations at 5 pm on Sunday to celebrate my birthday. We arrived right on time but as they had not yet opened their dining room for dinner yet, we had to wait about 10 minutes. We were seated at the table immediately on the other side of the waiting area wall, right at the entrance to the dining room - which did not bode well for the enjoyment of our meal. I looked longingly at the many other tables that were empty this early in the evening and thought about asking for another table but figured maybe they had lots of reservations for larger parties. This is a busy, popular place, and there were only 2 of us, after all. So here is what we ordered: JAMÓN SERRANO PICADILLO ACEBICHADO AHUMADOS DE MAR Y RÍO PALTA RELLENA DE CANGREJO CONCHAS A LA PARRILLA CANUTOS DE QUINUA Y MARACUYÁ TRUFAS PERUANAS (CUSCO & LORETO) - Everything was decent and nothing was extraordinary, neither in presentation nor taste. I have had far better, far less expensive meals at many other places in Portland and have also had far better, far less expensive tapas back east. Perhaps their entrees are the way to go since some of their tapas leave a lot to be desired. Perhaps we just chose poorly. Here is where my real complaint lies: Since we were seated early, our table was not initially that big of an issue. However, as time went on, the restaurant got busier, and the traffic past our table increased. The walkway, which was between our table and the one next to us, was maybe 18 inches wide and that is being generous. There was so little room to get through that there were times when people actually had to lean over our table, and thus over our food, as they walked by. One blonde female server in particular did this more than once and at one point actually slammed into my chair so hard that she moved it (and me, of course) several inches away from the table. I turned to look at her but she continued on, seemingly completely oblivious. I am not sure how she could have been though, she hit my chair THAT hard. How could she not notice? No excuse me, no I'm sorry, nothing. I'm a little person and I was smushed up against the wall as much as I possibly could be. This was just one of many bumps and jostles I received throughout the evening from both patrons and servers alike. That was just unacceptable for the amount of money we were paying to dine here. The only redeeming quality about our experience was the service we received. I wish I could remember our server's name. She was very sweet, attentive, and friendly. She had an extra little treat sent out to us in addition to our original dessert order. I am not sure why she did that...maybe she could tell that we did not really enjoy ourselves. Whatever her reasons, it was appreciated, given the overall poor experience we had. I was so excited to use my birthday as an excuse to make my boyfriend take me here for dinner. I have been wanting to eat here for so long, and it was just not worth it at all. I also noticed, with some distaste, that there were 3 tables (which seated 4) that remained empty throughout the 2 hours we spent here at the worst table in the place. I do not think it's that unheard of to seat a party of 2 at a table for 4. If those who run this place ever read these things, I would suggest relocating that table or removing it altogether. I do not see how anyone could enjoy a meal while sitting there. I would have preferred a table next to the kitchen or even the restrooms. Disappointed.

We had an outstanding meal here - the pity is that there were only two of us and thus insufficient opportunity to check out different parts of the menu. I can't give the place five stars although I might well do so after further exploration We arrived without reservations but the place maintains a "first come first served" section and we snagged a table for two near the window. The bread course came with a simple few slices of bread, nothing special there, but accompanied by a trio of dipping salsas of varying spiciness, including a splendid passionfruit saucer and a green salsa verde. For the main course, I had an slice of stuffed pork loin served on top of a "carapulcra," a puree of pork, potatoes and spices. We were tempted to skip dessert -- I had a red-eye plane home to catch -- but there were so many good choices on the dessert menu. I ordered a dessert consisting of three small creme brulées, each with a different flavoring. My companion had promised only to take a bite, but she ended up eating a solid half. Midway through our meal, a live guitarist started playing "Anonimo" and continued playing various classic tunes - a nice accompaniment to a fine meal

You're invited to a surprise party. You look forward to it all week. There's gonna be great food and good company. The Saturday arrives, and when you show up fashionably late, it's DEAD. That was Andina, failing on every hope that the weeks of research had given us. 12:30 Saturday and we are only the third group there, all of us arranged and neatly filling the window-front booths as if beckoning for outsiders to visit. It's pin-drop quiet like a church on Friday night. The depressing host of empty tables reminds of gravestones despite the array of colorful napkins. Andina is trying too hard. The final nail in the coffin was the bread. The green "spicy" sauce is 50% salt. The fruity "medium" one is synthetic, overbearingly sweet. The peanut sauce one is too much contrast. The grocery-store bread is dense and processed, so plain we gave it the "I'm not wasting calories on that," finger pointed. -Small- sized apps arrived soon after but were just as disappointing. The spicy garnish couldn't cover for the -one- overcooked and rubbery octopus skewer. The side of potatoes was cold and needed salt. The quinoa in the -two- pimiento pepper halves was too mushy. The peppers needed a stronger bite. The -one- large scallop with onions was the best of the three, huge and so tender it flaked apart. Despite how oily it was, the onion strings were the needed texture balance. Andina excelled in two areas: (1) Service was very personable, exchanging recommendations and stories with us tourists; (2) The Sachsahuyman. It's so good I'd return to Andina. Sit at the bar, throw a few back, resist the urge to eat, and hope for a larger crowd.

Delicious, but a little "elitist" when it comes to the food descriptions.

I'm very happy with my experience there. I would advice you to make an early reservation, the restaurant get crowded super fast and it can a little loud sometimes. The main courses are a little bit expansive but it's worth it. We shared different dishes and there were all delicious. I left a note on my reservation saying that is was for a birthday and they remembered ! Definitely a place I'd recommend

Love love love this place!!!! It was second time I had Peruvian food and it was far beyond my expectations. We went out there for lunch and was greeted nicely. They had special vegetarian vegan menu which is good. Our server was super nice he not only help in food info but also on live music in the area. Very attentive staff in all and that's what you want. I had mocktail which was refreshing and perfect for summer. We ordered two tapas as an appetizer one was grilled asparagus with chimichurri and yuca rellena. I do not like yuca but I ate my half part in second. Then we shared the Hongos soltados which was great too. Must go if u r in town..

Note: this review is for Andina's happy hour/bar! We decided to finally check this place out after hearing so many good things about it. However, we were short on time, so we slipped into the bar area and ordered a couple things off of the happy hour menu and a couple things from the small plates menu. For the record, you shouldn't come here for the HH. Their regular dinner menu looks amazing (really really amazing), but I didn't particularly care for their HH. Also, the seating in the bar area is very tight and hard to navigate through. I will definitely be back to try their dinner menu in the dining area, but won't be back for their HH. We ordered the octopus and chicken kebobs (HH), small order of empanadas, and small order of fried prawns (coated in quinoa). Food was decent, but nothing out of the ordinary.

Appetizer: Get the empanadas de carne. So good. So so good. Main Course: Get the lamb shank. Or better yet, get two more orders of the empanadas.

This place appears to be a restaurant that serves high quality food. There waiters are knowledgeable and the prices are fairly high. Me and my friends had the ceviche, octopus, pork, and lamb shank. The lamb shank was the only thing that was good. Everything else tasted low quality and lacked freshness.

We waited eons for our food, the waiter got our order wrong, and I'm still giving Andina the 5/5 it deserved for fabulous food and AMAZING customer service-- going above and beyond to correct the problems above before I even had a chance to complain about them. Our waitress at Andina was slammed that night. She was working her tail off and ours was the order that got messed up. She apologized, made sure we had a little something extra to eat on the house while we waited and bought us dessert. Because here's the deal: I've never seen perfection at ANY restaurant. However, I've often seen minor (and major) slip ups and lapses in what is otherwise a great place. It's how the restaurant responds to those difficulties that impresses me most and they were so wonderful about the late meal and wrong order, I began to feel that we were getting the better half of the deal. The standouts (aside from the service, of course) were the brown butter scallops and the trio of creme brule. But honestly I've never had a better late meal in my whole life.

I'm here on vacation for my birthday from Los Angeles, heard Andina was one of each spots to eat, we asked for a booth and the hostess specifically told us the booth is only for 2 people or more. After we got seated a random couple just got seated at the booth..... wtf? Pretty bad service to be honest. Food here is pretty decent but the heart kabobs were chewy and tasted like rubber. I had the Lomo saltado, you really can't go wrong with it. It tasted great, my girlfriend had a scallop dish which was great. Would I come here again? Not if I get sat at a tiny table. By the way, I didn't get her name but our waitress was pretty nice. Great server.

Yummy! Definitely get the pina colada (the best in the world), the beef heart (well seasoned), and the grilled octopus. Skip the pisco sour (meh).

My wife and I had five small tapas ($12.50 each for any of the small size tapas). The empanadas were a bit dry. Other four dishes were excellent. We did not have reservations. Waited about 10-15 minutes for a table in this crowded restaurant (it was a Monday night at about 6:10 pm when we walked in). Prices a bit steep, but food was worth the splurge. In sum, we had 5 small tapas plates, 1 passion fruit mousse dessert, two glasses of wine, and one pot of tea. Service was very good. Total price, before tip, was $89.50. We sat in bar area, which was bit noisy.

Hands-down best tapas restaurant I've ever been to! My family and I chose to dine at Andina during our recent foodie trip to Portland after hearing such raving recommendations from our colleagues and friends. And their raves were not in vain because it was seriously one of the best dinners I've had in a while! Ambiance: Classy, elegant and sophisticated while still maintaining an air of casual fun without being pretentious. We sat in one of the booths near the bar with live music playing and couldn't have asked for a better seat! It was intimate without being too loud and it was fun without being eerily quiet. If you're looking for the ultimate quietness seating (more ideal for dates than fun family dinners), choose the courtyard option. Service: Our waiter was phenomenal! He was so helpful, attentive without being overbearing, and made some incredible recommendations. He was also quite the fun conversationalist and was such a hit at our table! Dranks: The cocktails are to die-for! The Sacsayhuaman (habanero pepper vodka shaken with pureed passionfruit and cane sugar, served up with a sugar rim and cilantro leaf garnish) was our personal favorite. It was sweet with a slight kick of spiciness that drew you in like no other. Definitely consider ordering a cocktail or two before you choose to pop open wine bottles! Food: Everything was overwhelmingly delicious and the family was unanimously impressed with the quality of food. The portions are decent and filling (not SF-portions, for sure). We ordered the following: 1. Seco A La Nortena: Lamb shank slow-cooked in a cilantro black beer sauce 2. Arroz Con Pato: crispy duck confit and duck breast pan seared and paired with cilantro-infused rice in a savory-sweet passionfruit sauce 3. Lomo Saltado: Beef tenders wok-fried with onions, tomatoes, oyster sauce, garlic and ají amarillo 4. Hongos Saltados: wild mushrooms wok-fried with lots of veggies and garlic rice 5. Yuca Rellena: yuca croquetas stuffed with mozzarella and cotija cheese with huancaina sauce 6. Pimiento Piquillo Relleno: sweet piquillo peppers stuffed with quinoa, cheese and Serrano ham 7. The delicious complimentary bread with all the dipping sauces (the dipping sauces are amazing!) 8. Chocolate Andino dessert (quinoa flour brownie, chocolate ganache and Amarillo pineapple sauce) 9. Creme brûlée trio dessert Everything was decadent and cooked to perfection! My personal favorite was the Arroz Con Pato but everything else was amazing as well. So for your next family dinner feast, date night, anniversary celebration, catch up session with the bunch of friends or a business dinner, check out Andina for a one of a kind experience. Happy Eating, Yelpers!

So good we had to come back again the day after. My wife has celiac disease so finding dedicated gluten free restaurants is hard, and the fear of cross contamination always looms large. Well, Andina puts all those fears to rest. We didn't know how popular it was and day of could not get a reservation. But thankfully they have an entire section dedicated to walk in, so within 10 minutes we still had a table, even on memorial day weekend (tip- earlier is easier). The food is amazing, the selection huge. They have complete separate GF menus and everyone is completely on top of the whole concept. There were so many tapas style plates to try, we never managed to get down to the dinner entrees. And the dessert menu was excellent as well. We got both the three cups of creme brulé and the triple layer mousse served in a martini glass. In short, this place rocks! Made me view Peruvian cuisine in a new light. If you're in Portland, check it out, whether you have gluten concerns or not.

Every time I'm in Portland I make an effort to come here. They have a cocktail called the sacsayhuman. If you like spicy it's a great drink made with habanero vodka and passion fruit I usually just go with a bunch of tapas to share. Can't go wrong with the cerviche and tiradito

This was my first time eating peruvian food. This place is soo good! If you're ever in portland looking for a great meal, I would definitely suggest Andina. Our service was very good. The waiter made some really good suggestions based on what we told him about our taste buds. I don't remember the names of everything we had but for the jist of it we had, mussels with a corn type of salsa, a crab stuffed avocado, lamb, a veggie stir-fry, lamb, chocolate dessert, mango and I don't remember the second sorbet but everything was very delicious. I would definitely go back.

Gorgeous interior in a renovated building in the trendy Pearl. Tasty food, good service and interesting dishes. Of course, given it is in the Pearl District, you are paying a bit more, you have to search for and pay for parking, yet Interesting food and drink menu and worth if you don't mind spending half your paycheck.

Meagan took great care of us in the dining room on Monday 2/16/15. We originally thought that this would've been a long dinner where we would sample one of everything solely because the menu is that enticing! After our bottle of Albariño hit the table, we opted for the lighter Tapas to begin. Avocado stuffed with crab topped with poached shrimp. ALL DAMN DAY. So fresh and so clean. Pequillo Peppers stuffed with quinoa and Serano Ham. HELL YES. The peppers we cooked down so delicately that the flavor was reminiscent of a marinara with a kiss of spice. Diver Scallop in a brown butter something or other topped with fried onions. LOVE me some fried onions, then the scallop was like, yo- I love fried onions too!!! Great match. Grilled asparagus with chimichuri (sp?) did not disappoint either. We opted for the small size of everything and because of our late lunch, we were perfectly full and content. From there we ended with some kind of lavender deliciousness of an ice cream bowl and a glass of 20 year Tawny Port. I'd like to return, sit at the bar and come on an empty stomach next time in order to explore the darker side of the menu. This was perfect for us.

It's hard to fine great PDX restaurants downtown that will take a reservation for a party of 8 on a Friday evening- So glad to have found Andina. The cocktails were creative and well done, the service was just good, not great. The food was another story- (insert Guy Fieri Expletive here) no, but it was really good- We had a number of Vegan dishes to supplement the meat dishes that were all fantastic- Grilled Octopus, great!, Ceviche outstanding, laced with some Aji Amarillo, and another dish with Aji Panca- They had all the real Peruvian ingredients in use here. Not inexpensive, but pretty reasonable- Put this same place in LA, SF or NY and it would still be packed at a 30% premium price over what Andina in Portland was charging. Great food, great experience, highly recommend!

Andina is a great addition to the high end Portland foodie scene. I recommend ordering tapas style, that way you get to try a variety of items. The tapas plates come in small, medium, and large size. The small size is plenty to share along with other items. Some items were hit or miss. Favorites were the tartare of filet mignon with quail egg and stuffed peppers with Quinoa. Ordered a couple of items from the seafood menu and it was ok, kind of bland. Love the live music on the weekends and the staff are all very helpful with the menu and suggestions. Not the most amazing food I had, but it's a good restaurant as a date night or weekend hang out for drinks!

While making my first trip to Oregon, finding one single restaurant worthy of a stop on our last leg in Portland, reminded me of the same struggles we are constantly withholding in the San Francisco area, except no Michelin Stars to guide us on our shining way. So many fine establishments, amazingly reviewed and highly recommended by our concierge, what were we to do? As we made our way towards Portland, we decided to pick Andina's. We heard nothing but greatness from the winemakers we visited and our wine tour guide, as well as the yelp reviews to back them up. Lucky us, we were able to book reservations via yelp, mid Sunday afternoon for the next night. Walking into Andina's can be slightly confusing, there are a set of French doors up the steps that open up to a perpendicular hallway, an open overlook space to the next floor down, and the kitchen across the opposite side. The hostess desk is tucked away off to the far left and easy to miss, while the bar is off to the right. We were greeted by four (or five?) lovely hostesses and seated right away. After looking over our very extensive menus with tons of options, this is what we had... 08 Adea Pinot Noir, Ann Sigrid, Willamette Valley, ORE. We started out with a couple glasses from our favorite winery on our tasting tour the day before.. Ann's blend, made especially for her, by her husband, Deano. Then picked a few tapas to wet our tongues.. Ensalada Verde Peruana- with greens with hearts of palm, cotija cheese and asparagus in a passion fruit vinaigrette. Simple, fresh ingredients, and filling. Esparragos Peruanos- grilled asparagus brushed with chimichurri. Nothing very fancy about grilled asparagus, but add Andina's special sauce and wowey... melt in your mouth wonderment will start to happen... Atun Fusion - sashimi-style tuna in a tamarindo-rocoto uchucuta, served with a mango-peanut salsa. This dish brought me back to the traditional Peruvian I've had before.. smothered in what seemed to be a house-made ketchup. Tuna seared thinly with sesame crusted edges and the ketchup like substance atop along with a few pickled vegetables off to the side. My counterpart was digging this, me amused, but not going wild yet... and then ...our main dishes made their appearance! Mine: ATÚN CON TACU TACU Y AGUAYMANTO seared yellowfin tuna sprinkled with black pepper and orange zest, served with traditional lima bean tacu tacu, orange wedges, endive spears and salsa criolla, drizzled with a cape gooseberry-ají amarillo sauce. I didn't need anything else on earth to get me as stimulated or as satisfied as this dish. Every part of my senses and taste buds were tickled pink, while my cerebral cortex was moving into a slow frenzy. No one told us the chef was a mastermind here; if you didn't know, now you know! His: PESCADO AL ROCOTO Y KIÓN roasted fresh fish topped with slivers of ginger, rocoto and scallion, basted with sizzling sesame oil, served over shiitake mushrooms and bok choy in a smoked pork broth, served with asparagus-quinoa fried rice. He quietly gazed and looked at my dish with longing in his eyes. I shared half. I didn't try this (pork broth? no thanks..) It looked good, but mine was better. That's all I can tell you. All of our dishes kept getting better and better, we couldn't pass up a dessert to share... We ordered three Trufas Peruanas - authentic handmade truffles with traditional Peruvian flavors. Two Cuasco yellow hot pepper and spiced citrus peel, one Capuli dark chocolate ganache infused with anise. Between the two kinds, we both preferred the Cuasco. Spice and smooth chocolate in one- two bites of heaven. Perfect amount. So satisfying... We chose NV Château d'Arlay Macvin, Jura, France, Semillon to accompany our chocolate indulgences...Sweets with "sweets in a glass" always works together magnificently. There are many, many ways Andina's can and will sweep you off your feet, tickle your senses and leave you wanting more. What a satisfying, amazing and fantastically unique dining experience!

Came here with a party of 6 and had to wait about half an hour for a table at around 7pm on a Sunday night. It's a busy place but not a bad line up, plus I sipped on a glass of red wine while waiting so that definitely made the time go by faster. We shared the large Palta Rellena de Cangrego - avocado halves stuffed with crab meat and topped with a poached prawn. The large came with 4 halves. The dish was garnished with some quail eggs, marinated olives, and some greens dressed with a vinaigrette which paired well with the creamy avocados. I've been dreaming of recreating this at home ever since I ate it! For my entree I had the Arroz Con Pato. Omg, this was soo delicious. The duck was served 2 ways: crispy duck confit and medium rare duck breast pan-seared. Both were moist, tender, and perfectly seasoned. All served with cilantro-infused rice, a savoury-sweet passionfruit sauce and baby carrots. I was pretty full but I couldn't leave any behind...it was REALLY good. The owner of the restaurant also came by to say hi and thank us for coming in which is a nice touch. I can't wait to come back here and try more things...will definitely hit up the happy hour next time too!

Street parking is pretty easy to find for a weekday dinner. We had a reservation, so we don't have to wait for our table. The party in front of us did not have a reservation and they were told that the wait is about an hour. We tried the grilled scallops with crispy onion(highly recommended), east west oyster(it was okay) and sashimi-style fish with corn salsa(nothing to rave about) from the tapas menu. We also ordered the lamb shank(it's good and tasty) and duck served 2 ways(the leg is very salty and the breast is hard to chew). The desserts are the star of the meal! We ordered the semifreddo and the alfajores. Both are amazing. Overall experience are just okay, I don't think we'll come back next time we're in Portland. pciltraveldiary.blogspot…

TIP: When making a reservation, ask for a window seat. -------------------------------------------------------------- Celebrated my birthday here the other night. Overall, our experience was enjoyable. Food-wise, Andina really is all it's cracked up to be. My tastebuds went berserk throughout the whole meal. Since it was our first time, we gave the waiter a set budget (about $150) and let him take the lead ordering for us, and he certainly did not disappoint! I can't remember any of the names of the dishes, but they were all excellent, so whatever you decide to order will probably taste amazing anyway! What's holding me back from giving this place a 5-star review is ambiance. My boyfriend made the reservation five weeks in advance, and notified the hostess we were celebrating my birthday. Now, I'm not a person who expects free desserts or anything like that, but the hostess decided to plunk us down in the middle of the room, next to a heavy-traffic walkway. Waitstaff rushing to get to the kitchen kept bumping into my chair throughout the evening. Add to the fact that our table was less than a foot away from another couple's table, and I could hear every detail of their conversation. Not a lot of intimacy there. I was really really looking forward to eating at Andina, and after we were seated, I honestly felt shafted... We came to celebrate a special event, didn't we? I'm not asking for a window seat, just something a little more intimate, seeing as how we made a reservation in advance and the couple next to us was a walk-in? I'd rather celebrate my birthday at a place that makes me feel welcome, and not like a burden, you know? :( Thankfully, the waiter, Paul made up for all that. His service was impeccable and truly exceeded our expectations. Minor details, like splitting our entrees into two plates, and firing the courses in a timely manner, all made the experience satisfying and memorable. I was pleasantly surprised. Anyway, I loved my experience and look forward to returning again (though probably not in the immediate future, I'm still a little turned off about the whole seating issue).

Andina has it going on. From the food, to the drinks, to the service and colorful ambiance, This place does the sences good. The food and drinks are truely amazing as you can read from all other reviews but my reason for 5 stars:The service. The service is amazing- I never feel like I'm an inconvience to any of the staff there. I simply sit down and listen to the server explain the specials for the day and when I ask for some further explaination on any menu item, I'm always given perfect description of what the dish offers. At Andina I stay glued to my seat, and I just let the servers do what they are hired to do, serve. I truely do feel like a guest here and weather I stay just for one cocktail or sit through a full meal, I never feel rushed, and that my friend is a true dinning experience. & the environment is so welcoming, come in for a fancy dressed up date, or come in straight off Bolt Bus, it doesn't matter... there is no code to dine at Andina, come for cocktail hour, come to dine with family, just come hungry, and ready to relax as you should.

I went here with a group that included a vegan and a vegetarian. They had excellent service with many options for different diets. The tapas were good, if not amazing. But the Hongos Salteados (sautéed mushrooms) dish blew my mind. It was healthy, meat-free, and was full of umami flavor. I am still thinking about it days later! As someone visiting Portland from out of town, I will be looking forward to going back to Andina.

This is an absolute must dine when you visit portland. I had the pleasure of tasting the avocado tapas stuffed with crap and topped with a prawn, which closely resembled a shrimp. The chef was even gracious enough to pull off the tail before the dish was served. As for the entree, I simply told the waiter to surprise me with his favorite dish; this was an extremely good call. I ended up having the "CORDERITO DE LOS ANDES" which is described as "a succulent double rack of grass-fed lamb, grilled to order, and served with a Peruvian potato-two cheese timbale with a roasted pepper demi-glace 35." Honestly, this was probably the most delicious lamb I have ever had the pleasure of eating. The meat was perfectly cooked and juicy beyond belief, the potato-two cheese timbale went perfectly with the lamb, adding a bit of crunch and flavor to the mess. I would come here agin in a heartbeat. Our waiter, whose name I unfortunately forgot (sorry man) was top notch and had extensive knowledge of the menu and its contents. Some of my dinning friends were allergic to shellfish, and he happily accommodated us, which is a difficult feat in itself due to the prominence of seafood in Peruvian food. I always tend to consume monumental amounts of water during my lists to restaurants, and my glass seemed to always be filled thanks to the care our waiter gave to us. The ambiance is warm and welcoming, and the people there are great. I would recommend this place to anyone who asks about Portland, and would go again in a heartbeat. Thank you guys for such a great experience.

Andina had been on my bookmarks for about six months now. It wasn't until our anniversary that we were finally able to make it out there. Oh my, more than 1250 reviews aren't wrong; this place is amazing! If you've been to Andina before, just bear with me. My review (as they always tend to be) is going to be exactly how I'd be telling a friend who's never been here about it . . . We had a reservation, so it only took a few minutes for us to be seated, but this place was super packed. There were several people hanging around and although I'm not sure, they looked like they were waiting for an open table. Once we were seated our amazing nice server for the evening, David (check yourself, pronounce his name correctly: Dah-veed) brought out drink menus. We order a pitcher of red Sangria which was perfectly fruity and smooth. I LOVED it and may or may not have had a bit too much before it hit me. Oopsie. The complimentary starter is a basket of quinoa studded bread with a trio of salsas: a peanut salsa, a passion fruit salsa, and a jalapeño, mint, cilantro salsa (from mild to hot). Each had such a unique taste, I loved them! My favorite, though was the passion fruit salsa with it's sweet, tangy and spicy flavor. We also ordered quesos artesanos which are a trio of cheeses with membrillo (quince) paste and spanish almonds. For our entrees, I had the lomo saltado (beef tenders with onion, tomato and some delicious sauce served with rice and potatoes) and my husband had the seco a la norteña (lamb shank served with beans and rice). It wouldn't be fair to try to describe the food. I just wouldn't do it justice. It's amazing, but you have to try it for yourself. After the main course, my husband really wanted to try their dessert. I didn't think I could handle it, but decided to share with him. When we made the reservation, it asks for notes and we wrote that we were celebrating our anniversary. We ordered the chocolate andino which is a quinoa flour brownie with pineapple sauce and candied pineapple. I was surprised that our dessert plate came out with Feliz Anniversario written in chocolate. (everybody say awwww) It was almost too pretty to eat. Almost. Oh. My. Decadent. Chocolate. God. It was sooooo good! Our server David was attentive and really nice throughout our dinner. He was available and helpful and just overall friendly. The service was great, the food was great, the atmosphere was great, of course I'd come again. Oh, Andina, I think I just found my go-to for special occasions!

We made reservations for lunch and told them it was a special occasion, so we expected a good table. Instead, we were seated at a tiny table pressed up to the window, that was narrower than my husbands shoulders. A few minutes after sitting down and getting bread, a booth opened up. We asked to be moved, and they said it was no problem, but they then continued to set the table with new silverware. We had to get up again to tell them it was unnecessary, so we picked up our own dishes and silverware and moved ourselves. The new stuff was still on the table, so we piled it up on the side (no one collected it until we were finished). Once we were physically comfortable, we could focus on the food. The complimentary bread came with 3 salsas - mild, kinda bland peanut, a passionfruit almost jam-like sauce, and jalapeño lime which we ended up putting on almost everything. Between the 2 of us we ordered 5 small plates, which turned out to be more than enough food. - Causa Morada - the chicken tasted a lot like a standard chicken salad - Wontons - the tamarind sauce was sweeter and more tamarind-y than I expected. It almost felt like I was eating a samosa with Indian tamarind chutney. - Stuffed Peppers - Just ok, mostly quinoa - Chicken Skewers - good, but nothing terribly flavorful or Peruvian about them - Empanadas - since I don't consider them a dessert, I didn't need all the powdered sugar on top. The lime and onions definitely helped cut the sweetness. Since it was our anniversary, they gave us a complimentary caramel cookie, which was very good. I felt like all the flavors were intentionally mellowed-out and de-spiced to fit the local palate. I would've liked stronger flavors and the option or more spicy aji on the side. Everything was beautifully plated, and it all tasted pretty good, but considering the hype and the price, we were a bit disappointed.

Without saying much, Andina is the best place to eat in town plus the employe are like the food, the best of best. I will recommend everyone to try it but I must warn you to reserve before you go specially weekends and holidays to avoid disappointment for not getting table. Too bad I do not have 6 stars to give to this restaurant.

Andina came highly recommended from several people and while the food has been well documented on Yelp and was perfectly fine, the attention to service needs some work. We got there for lunch and made a reservation via Open Table just in case things were busy. We got there, no line, no waiting, and we were seated promptly. The restaurant was fairly full, but had a couple of open tables here and there. We had menus given to us and then we waited. We waited for 20 minutes before even water was offered to us. The couple next to us experienced the same thing and I could also hear a waiter apologizing profusely to the table behind me for the wait. The saving grace came after our order was finally taken that the food came out very quickly. So my question is that if the kitchen isn't backed up, why is the wait staff unable to keep up? It wasn't terribly busy and the wait was really unnecessary. Dropping off water and bread shouldn't have taken that long. The food was good, but the annoyance of having to wait for that long when it seemed unnecessary and kind of tainted the experience for me. I wrote this up on the feedback card at the end too. Recommended, but be patient if things take a little long. The food was 4 or 5 stars, but they get docked one star for the service.

Excellent food and even better service! We started with their complimentary bread and a trio of sauces, all were yummy, and then we ordered a pitcher of delicious sangria and a bunch of tapas. Remember, tapas are small shared plates, so if you want more, order medium or large. This review is for all small plates. Here's my tapas breakdown... ESPÁRRAGOS PERUANOS (grilled asparagus brushed with chimichurri) This dish was surprisingly delicious. We debated on if we should order a veggie dish or just stick to seafoods and meats, but we opted to get a little greens dish and this was perfection. Skinny asparagus, perfectly seasoned, and not overcooked! EMPANADAS DE CARNE (flaky pastry filled with slow-cooked beef, raisins and Botija olives) This dish was very yummy and two empanadas come out. It was perfectly crispy and flaky and the meat inside was very tender. ANTICUCHO DE CORAZÓN (marinated beef heart kebobs, served with a spicy salsa de rocoto) This dish was one of my favorites for its simplicity but depth of flavor. Three meat skewers with two pieces of meat on each stick. One of my favorites of the night. PALTA RELLENA DE CANGREJO (avocado stuffed with crab, topped with a poached prawn) This was one of my least favorite dishes... I like the ingredients, but the avocado to crab and prawn ratio was off... so there was an overwhelming avocado taste if you tried to portion out your bites equally. CONCHAS A LA PARRILLA (grilled diver scallops with a tamari-brown sugar butter sauce and crispy onions) Mmmmm.... this dish was superb! Diver scallops weren't overly cooked and they were so succulent... the sauce was perfection. ANTICUCHO DE PULPO (grilled octopus kebobs with chimichurri and a caper majado de papa) The octopus was good, but it was just like one leg... hard to share for a tapas dish, but very flavorful. OSTRAS (daily selection of west coast and east coast oysters, with chalaquita, rábano-mango and nikkei salsas) We ordered half a dozen of the east coast variety and the oysters were SUPER SALTY. I would avoid this menu item if I were to come back. Overall, great food, great company, and great atmosphere!

Stopped by Andina for a late night dinner and the place was still packed! We booked our reservation through Open Table. When we walked in, the hostess let us choose whether we wanted to sit in the bar area or in the dining room. Since there was a live band playing music at the bar, we opted for that side. The ambiance is great. Sophisticated, sleek, dim lighting and copper top tables. Andina is a great place for a date. They start you off with their freshly (in-house) baked bread and 3 different salsas. I liked the passionfruit salsa and the spicy green one. We started off with the diver scallops appetizer. A small order is only 1 scallop so the server recommended that we order the medium portion. Thank goodness we got two scallops because they were so tasty - I would not have wanted to split mine in half! The lomo saltado was also very good. I've always been a fan of Peruvian food and have even traveled to Peru for vacation. The food at Andina is very authentic and flavorful. I would highly recommend this restaurant for the food, ambiance and service.

Excellent food, service, and location! The setting sometimes comes with live music near the bar area. The setting is quite romantic with candles and a mood lighting atmosphere. The tapas are really well designed and quite filling... Don't let the size fool you! I really liked their Yukon potatoes dish with tuna sashimi and the avocado filled with crab meat. The empanadas was only ok. About 3-4 tapas is good for a table of 2 with a pairing of wine!

AAAAHHHHMAZING Seriously. It's one of those places that's indescribably delicious you'll have to go for yourself. I can tell you what I ate (most of the menu, actually) but it won't do any justice until you go for yourself. Few tips: 1. Hot sauces are insanely flavorful and compliment ANY dish. 2. Make a reservation. You won't get seated otherwise, guaranteed. 3. Lucuma is freaking delicious (especially when paired with chocolate and espresso- one of their dessert items). The owner is also very sweet. There's been times I've eaten there and she'll spend some time chatting with you and ensure you enjoyed your meal. Presentation is stunning. It may not be the greatest option wise for vegetarians, but that doesn't mean what they have isn't just as delicious. Been here on food trips (yes, will plan a new city around food), for birthdays, on a whim, and of course when driving through to get elsewhere. It's a default eat when in Portland. Basically, I don't leave without getting my Andina fix. I wish I lived closer. Forget being my favorite restaurant in Portland, it's one of my most favorite restaurants in life.

Good food, but very upscale. If you are looking for a fancy, see and be seen joint then this is the place. The food was good and creative but not exceptional.

The cow hearts were great, the civiche was pretty good. Don't fall for the Peruvian soda trick. It's nothing different, it's tastes like Big Red. Don't waste your money. The manager came up and chatted with us about her life in Peru which was nice & it added to the overall atmosphere. Seemed like an older crowd though. I would go back for the hearts.

This was the best meal we had while in Portland. We showed up for our 7pm reservation and were seated promptly in a middle aisle table (which I usually hate because of people walking back and forth, and this place was really busy) everyone was very professional, so it didn't really bother us. We were started out with a bread basket that came with 3 different types of chimichurri's. Each had their own distinct flavor. While we were waiting for our food, we decided to get a pitcher of red sangria. This was delicious, not overly sweet. Since it's tapas, we decided to share (except for my vegan friend, who had her own separate menu), so my other friend and I went with a few of their signature items. Tabule De Quinua (lime-scented quinoa salad with avocado, cotija cheese and olives) wow this was good, why doesn't my quinoa I make taste this special! Yuca Rellena (yuca croquetas stuffed with mozzarella and cotija cheese, served over huancaína sauce) De Pescado "5 Elementos" (fresh fish in leche de tigre) fish of the day was Hawaiian Ono, and this was "so ono"! Best ceviche I've ever had. SO clean and fresh. Esparragos Peruanos (grilled asparagus brushed with chimichurri) don't ask, we felt we just needed a little vegetable in our lives. They have a separate vegan/vegetarian menu, my friend had: De Betarraga (roasted red and golden beets, served with ají verde al batán, pickled vegetables and sesame oil) Hongos Saltados (wild mountain mushrooms wok-fried with onions, tomatoes, soy sauce, garlic and ají amarillo, served with Yukon Gold papas fritas and garlic rice) My friend raved that this was the best vegan meal she has had out. We finished with desserts: Mousse De Valle y Selve (a tiered semifreddo of velvety lúcuma and espresso mousses, manjar-blanco ganache, and crushed cocoa nib meringue, served with espresso shortbread) Get this! It was so good. My other friend had the Chocolate sorbet. I was looking forward to trying Aji de Gajina (they don't serve it during dinner), other than that, we had and amazing time. Little piece of Peru in the Pearl District.

Andina came recommended to me by some friends that had recently visited Portland, and based on their recommendation and reviews I read, I decided to make a reservation. I was intrigued by the uniqueness of the menu, not to mention the variety: tapas, salads, traditional Peruvian main dishes, and an assortment of other main dishes. Located in downtown Portland, Andina is in close proximity to a number of establishments and convenient to anywhere in the city that I can imagine. The food here is delicious - you will love it as long as you are interested in something a bit different. I have never been to an upscale Peruvian restaurant, and in fact, I've been to just one or two Peruvian restaurants in my entire life, so my experience with this cuisine is limited. Regardless, it was quite good. We shared a seared tuna appetizer, feasted on the complimentary bread simply because of the dipping sauces, which were so unique and tasty that I couldn't stop eating. I had the duck breast and duck confit main dish with the cilantro rice, and it was excellent. Although I've finally decided that I just don't like duck breast (although confit is great), I wouldn't shy away from it at Andina if I were a fan of it in general. The service was very prompt and attentive, and the manager provided a complimentary dessert in honor of our 5-year wedding anniversary. Someone else, which I think may have been the owner, came to our table to check on our satisfaction, and we let her know that we were delighted. I would not hesitate to return to Andina if we are in Portland again, for it is truly unique and tasty. tripadvisor.com/ShowUser…

So my husband traveled to Portland last year without me, I had never been, and for the past year all I heard about when Portland was brought up was about this amazing lamb he experienced at Andina. So when a group of us planned a trip this year Andina was on the list to go to for dinner, after looking it up on Yelp I decided that with a party of 8 we might need a reservation. Andina was super accommodating considering we had such a large party and were making last minute reservations! Once there, I almost decided that I would have to pass on the lamb because there were at least 10-15 other things on the menu I could have ordered. We started out with the diver scallops...amazing, I really wanted more than just one but knew that my lamb would be coming soon and didn't want to fill up too much. But then they brought out their awesome bread and dips and I couldn't stop eating them. By the time my lamb came I was almost too full to eat it, but it was so good I knew that I had to eat it and die in my food coma later. The rack of lamb was one of the best I've ever had and was cooked to perfection! Our waiter was really friendly and we told him we were visiting from out of town and that some of the group had been last year when they were in town, he really took care of us and gave us a few tastings and made sure we ended the meal with a sweet bite. This will be a Portland tradition for our group every time we are in town. I can't wait to come back and have more lamb or maybe I'll even try one of the other amazing dishes on the menu :)

Portland is a food-lovers city, and Andina does everything possible to promote that idea. Most of my experience with Peruvean food has been limited to Andina, but they've made a believer out of me. I have yet to try any of their entrees. Each and every time I have been I've ordered tapas with my companion. Those are usually adequate. As far as specific recommendations, any of the quinoa crusted meats, chicken and shrimp, are good, as are the potato dishes, especially the purple one. The cocktail list is a unique one. Yes, they have a pisco sour, but I would recommend the sacsuayhaman or really any of the fruit drinks. Also, if you have room, do a dessert. Presentation is important here. That cannot be understated. Be prepared for very photogenic dishes, including the drinks. For everything, food, drinks, dessert, location, atmosphere, Andina is a can't miss place for those of you exploring Portland. The only drawback to Andina might be the parking. Depending on when you go, be prepared to park several blocks away. The Pearl District is Portland's renaissance district, if there is such a thing. Conversely, a number of other really cool spots are close, so there's that.

Make a reservation you will get a better seat. Everything we had was delicious and the service suits the image. I loved the Japanese influence in the Ceviche and how fresh the fish was. The kitchen and the bar are creative. They offered a number of specials that I wish I had room for. Enjoy!

The highlight of my trip this time around was this place. We wanted something different so we were initially going to try Toro bravo but the wait was too long so we decided to come here and wow. It's so good I'd come back again instead of trying a new place. Get the nikkei. Get the avocado. Get the octopus. Get the fried chicken or shrimp. All so good. We got six small and medium dishes and it filled up three people. Must go. Seriously.

Quick Takeaway: Enjoy phenomenal Peruvian tapas in a chic upscale environment. Pricey? Yes. Worth it? You bet! I loved every last drop of my visit. Where: Pearl District downtown Portland. Service: It was SPOT on and we never had to ask for a single thing. They welcomed us like we were old family friends and we left smiling ear to ear. The service and the superb indulgence into the Peruvian culture through our meal was nothing short of perfection. Music: We missed this part since we shot over here directly from PDX for lunch. I wouldn't mind coming back for dinner on another visit to sample the atmosphere for dinner. We Ordered: Yuca Rellena - yuca bites stuffed with mozzarella/cotija cheese. Quesos Artesanos: 3 types of artisanal cheeses with a sweet 'quince' jam Anticucho de Pulpo: lightly charred octopus topped with a fresh chimichurri sauce Palta Rellena de Cangrejo: avocado stuffed with crab with poached prawn on top like a cherry on a sundae. Esparragos Peruanos: grilled asparagus brushed in a chimichurri sauce. They also bring you fresh bread that is served with freshly prepared salsas (see photos). Overall: My coworker and I are foodies and I saw a few of my Las Vegas Yelp buddies recommend this spot. They were right. This place was great from start to finish. It's one of the few places where you might have the chance to meet the owner as they waltz the floor to greet their guests. I love that extra touch of hospitality. Every item was cooked with care and love. Freshly prepared ingredients was evident and each tapa offered a unique flavor element to our lunch. It hit all my marks for an exceptional dining adventure. Hot Tip: Gluten Free? Bread not your thing? Ask for fried yucca as an alternative.

This restaurant came at the recommendation of the desk clerk at out hotel. It's in the Pearl District. The food here was wonderful. First came a trio of salsas (see photos) and then our small plates followed. The first one was a Morada something. Lol. It's was purple potato layered with a pureed chicken served with a fruity sauce. Wonderful! Next was Pequillo peppers Stuffed with meat and quinoa. Also great! The house salad with cojilla cheese, hearts of Palm, and asparagus was also delicious. A fish dish in a delicate but delicious broth was shared between us. I can't rememebr the name. Lol. We finished with a coffee mousse. I'd definitely recommend this place. Food was delicious and service was amazing as well!

I think this restaurant has way too much hype! Went there for my birthday yesterday and was kind of disappointed. Our favorite tapas out of the six: 1. Bay scallops with onion straws (so juicy) 2. Crab stuffed avocado (refreshing) 3. Quinoa studded chicken (awesome sauce) Disappointing tapas: 1. Three types of potatoes (almost no flavor) 2. Quinoa stuffed peppers (just didn't like the flavor of the cheese) 3. Asparagus (also not enough flavor) I guess my standards for flavor were a little high after going to Pok Pok the night before but I really did think that all of the dishes could have had more kick. They gave me my dessert on a "feliz cumpleanos" decorated plate and a candle, which was a nice touch. I don't think I will be coming back though.

I rate how food quality matches the price. Yes, this place is reallly expensive. But the ambience and the live music was so wonderful i had to bump up a star. Nothing beats like the date night i had yesterday. The price didnt hurt my feelings too much. However, i was hungry after spending about eighty dollars. We even had dessert, but i wasnt full, so expect to spend 50+per person to be full. Octopus was the best. I really dislike octopus, but yesterdays octopus was different. The texture is bizarre. Its consistency was of a foie gras, a hard tofu, or a very soft vienna sausage. Octopuses usually is chewy and fishy, but this one takes you to soft mellow heaven of flavors. The next dish i liked was the beef tarter. I have only tried korean and french beef tarter, and peruvian tarter was a unique and awesome experience. Thanks, andina for giving me such an awesome dish. Loved the unpeeled nut, it was very exotic and crunchy, adding nice texture and flavor to the dish. I loved the scallop with fried onion, although i wish the onion was crispier and i hoped they had put more acid factor in the sauce. It was a bit too oily dish, but i balanced out with very acidic blue marine sashimi dish. Only complaint about the sashimi was how they had cut the fish in cube. Maybe that is peruvian style, but fish tastes better when it is not cut in cubes. It might be a personal opinion- but japanese ppl wouldnt have cut the fish like how they do for no reasons. Cutting in cube is way easier, so i believe and taste that cube looses the texture and flavor of sashimi. And the flan was out of this world. Liked how they had grape and cinnamon sorbet, so exotic and balances out the creamy flan. Will visit again

This place is popular but I usually come in for the drinks at the bar. My favorite drink in Portland is the Ron Yki On - Roasted ginger rum with grapefruit and lime juice with a cardamom sugar rim. Delicious! For a small nibble I usually go for the grilled octopus, so good!

  • Ithaca P.

I don't get the hype about this place. Maybe I didn't order the 'right' dishes, but the food is way overpriced. My table got only tapas, and we got the Trio de Papas y Salsas Peruanas (3 types of potatos with sauce), De Pulpo (grilled octopus), De Pollo (grilled chicke), De Corazon (grilled beef heart) and wine. The food tasted okay, maybe above average if I'm being generous, but for those prices we got very little food and it wasn't the experience I expected for the price. Quite disappointing really

I had really high hopes for this place and although it was good it wasn't amazing. They serve fresh bread with 3 dipping sauces with your meal. Unfortunately I thought this was a waste for caloric intake. The bread was fresh but next time I'll just ask for butter. The food was good but nothing I'm dying to go back and have again no that I though was memorable. I did have a really tasty cocktail called sacsayhuaman, it was sweet and spicy all at the same time. Maybe I'm just not a big Peruvian food fan but I expected to be impressed and I wasn't.

Lovely Peruvian restaurant with Vegan/Gluten Free choices galore! Very much enjoyed our waiter and the ambiance. The food was pretty good as well, my favorite thing was the potato quinoa bread with different dipping sauces (hint, best is the mango one, yum). Presentation was also on point.

Being a lover of Peruvian food, Andina was at the top of my list to try on this trip to Portland. However, I was torn between 3 and 4 stars as some of the dishes were amazing and some were rather lackluster, but opted for 4 as the service and ambiance were half star worthy. The good: Yucca stuffed w cheese - delish! Definitely MUST order -- everyone at the table fell in love with these little cheesy flavor bombs! Anticuchos de Corazon - amazing! Some of the best I've ever had and I'd go back just to order these again. Scallops w quinoa - very tasty and cooked perfectly! Great seafood option. Drinks -- the drinks, oh the drinks! One of the best pisco sour and citrus pisco I've ever tried. VERY good and again a MUST order if you come here. The so-so: Lomo saltado - to me, this is the dish by which I judge Peruvian restaurants and well, this one was just not my favorite. It had a strong vinegar taste plus the dish had bell peppers in it which I've never seen in an LS dish? I wasn't a fan. :( Empanadas - they were just okay. Not a lot of flavor and nothing that I'd remember or order again. Hongos Saltado - basically like the lomo saltado but w mushrooms - again, had the same strong vinegar taste that I've never had in a saltado. It was okay but not my favorite version. All in all I would return but would only order certain things and avoid the saltados. The service was great.. everyone was very friendly and helpful. It is a fun lively ambiance and also a bit loud but great for a fun GNO. I wouldn't recommend for a 'romantic' date night though. It was also not cheap but for the dishes that were good, it was well worth it!

First off, you gotta get reservations. Second, you gotta get some sangria or one of the other delicious cocktails. Third, tapas are your best bet. The ceviche was excellent and worth an order. The yuca rellena was a little overhyped. The grilled diver scallops were good. The octopus was tender and not chewy at all. Can't remember what else we ordered, but the variety was great. I also tried the lomo saltado and oxtail special entrees, which were pretty good, but I've had better elsewhere. You know what my favorite part of the meal actually was...the complimentary bread and the mindblowing sauces that came with it. There was a mint spicy green sauce, a passionfruit sauce, and a peanut sauce. If I could just have had that all night, I'd be happy.

Simply delicious! The service was outstanding and the ambience was relaxing, we came for lunch, and sampled the appetizers...the food presentation was beautiful and tasted even better! My first experience with Peruvian food but Andina will be hard to top! Also, the drink that I ordered was the best drink I have ever tasted in my life!

Was in one of the banquet halls for a friends wedding and my first time visiting this establishment. It's been in my list for a long time now and I couldn't be more impressed. The cocktails were all quite delicious. The sachsayhuman was wonderful. Well balanced with a nice little spice burn. Our bartender did a wonderful job with every drink. You could really appreciate get attention to detail in each and every drink. The food was amazing as well as the dessert. I have yet to try the dining area but the menu we had at the wedding reception was spot on. Service was great as well. There wasn't a moment where I wasn't being served. Great great great! I will definitely need to come back here in the near future.

Came here after full morning of walking from suit fitting for the hub in slab (town? Ville? Hill? Village?). Was a good walk and saw a bunch of interesting shops and now we were ready to try this 4.5 star 1700 review place. Not sure what to expect. Space nice. Staff nice and friendly. Lots of staff. Had the yucas rellenas and thought it was meh. Better after adding the salsa verde leftover from bread dip. Btw bread dip trio ok but didn't care much for lilikoi one in the middle. Got empanadas with powdered sugar on top which I thought was strange but was actually really tasty. Guess the little bit of sweet enhances the meaty salty favors inside. Empanadas definitely the star of this meal. Had the five elements ceviche which was fine. Very acidic which is he point. Heard later the server e planning that you're supposed to mash up the sweet potato and cut off the corn from the cob and mix it all up. Maybe that woulda mellowed it out a bit? Ended with the mixed salad greens with glazed pepitas and asparagus and some kind of cheese very mild. This salad was actually quite balanced and not overdressed. The sweet and the salty and acidity really working together. Ten bucks per plate plus the episco sour put the lunch into the 60 range. Overall good food, was fine. That's it. Oh had green tea at end and of course only jasmine green tea. Steeped wat too long so bitter and flowery smell and taste so,overpowering. Woulda settled for stinkin yamamoto yama at that point.

I've been to Andina twice. The first visit a co-worker and I stopped in for lunch. We were seated and then waited... and waited. We were never greeted at all. Didn't even get any water and we probably sat patiently for about 10 good minutes before we decided to leave. The second time wasn't bad. I went for lunch again, was seated and served. Had a nice cocktail and lunch. I would go again despite my first impression but would have given at least 1 more star if the hostess would have offered us something for the poor service we received at our first visit.

The service was incredible! The waitress gave us amazing recommendations (we had never had tapas before). And even suggested other restaurants for us to check out while in town. The Fusion tuna was delicious, as was the octopus and red sangria. Don't skip the bread and dipping sauce, it's surprisingly tasty. We had a group of 5 and had no problem getting in and finding comfortable seating.

Food and service was excellent! Octopus, the variety of oysters, beef heart, beer, etc...were all delicious. Be careful with the sauce that comes with the beef heart. It whooped my ass and I was sweating like a 500LB pig. Staff knew their stuff as well.

Eat here! We're driving through Portland and this place caught our eye. The traditional ceviche is phenomenal. Thus from a girl who eats a lot of fish! And the causas are something I never heard of before -- all delicious! We did a lot of small plates and everything was fantastic!

I feel like such an asshat because I'm not on the four or five star bandwagon for Andina. We had a super weird experience and I'm a little ambivalent if were going to come back. We knew that we were pressing our luck when we called to inquire about a reservation on a Saturday evening. I fully expected to be told that the house was full. I was pleasantly surprised to hear that one side of the house was reservations only and the other side of the house was walk-in patrons. Our wait was very short and they took us downstairs into the bottom part of the restaurant where we sat in the back right of the basement. The maître d' that sat us at our table was very kind and from that point things went sideways. My husband ordered a glass of Malbec, and I ordered a bottle of Panna, and my son just had table water. The wine came, I proceeded to wait about 25 minutes for my water. This sweet sweet elderly lady came by who I think was the owner. She stopped and asked us how we were doing we had a lovely conversation with her. She was just so kind, my husband spoke Spanish with her, and had a lovely chat and so we thought when she left our waiter would come. Well, that wasn't the case- No one came for a very long time, and finally we flag down one of the bus girls who found our waiter, and he finally showed up all smiles to explain the menu to us. Being that this wasn't my first time here I listened and looked over the menu while he explained how the menu worked to my son and husband. We ordered two appetizers ( small plates to share) which was their artisan cheese plate and these delicious beef empanadas. We also ordered the shrimp cocktail and we ordered the large one to share with our table. For dinner my son ordered the tuna, my husband ordered the filet and I ordered this dish called Hongos Satados which is wild mountain mushrooms wok-fried with onions, tomatoes, soy sauce, garlic and ají amarillo, served with Yukon Gold papas fritas and garlic rice. So, I'm thinking we are all set right? Ummm no. We began to notice other patrons around us receiving their food and happily eating dinner and we were sitting there with no food. And we sat, and we sat, and we sat some more. We also ate a lot of bread. Finally, I flagged down that same bus girl who is adorable and inquired about our dinner. She said she would run it down, and about that time our waiter showed up apologizing all over himself saying that he put the orders in all together so they would come out all at the same time, because he just assumed that because I hadn't ordered an entrée that's how we would like it. I should have clued in right there that they were going to be more problems later on in the evening. My husband asked him very respectfully why he took it upon himself to assume anything without asking us first our preference. More awkwardness ensues. Our waiter disappears. Miraculously the food begins to come out one dish at a time. And it's delicious. The flavors were lovely, the Latin fusion was just fantastic and the bummer being we ate so much bread we didn't have a lot of room left. By this time one of the floor managers comes to the table and apologizes for what happened, by now they're so much apologizing going on things are becoming more and more awkward. Now everyone has an entrée but guess who? Me. It all began to make sense to me -ugh. So I flag down again you guessed it that sweet bus girl and tell her that I have no entrée, and she looks a little horrified, and runs to get our waiter. Our waiter now shows up at our table looking like he would rather be anywhere else but at our table, and the poor kid is just extraordinarily flustered. I said to him, "did you order my entrée?" And he looked at me and shook his head and began to apologize again and said I'm just so sorry there seems to be a miscommunication. The manager comes over and hears what happened and just shakes his head and apologizes all over again and said would you like me to make it to go. by now I'm a little irritated myself and I say "No, I just really want to go home." ( I totally felt five years old saying that.) so we get the check and I want to make sure the entrée isn't on there, and I'm not having to pay for something I didn't get. And the manager shows up once again to say he's removed a glass of wine off of our bill for our inconvenience. Big deal. I'm not sure what I expected - I know I didn't expect them to comp my entire meal because the food was delicious but an eight dollar glass of wine really? Initially I was going to leave zero dollars for a tip but when I asked the manager if I could give this bus girl the gratuity because she did all the running he quickly told me that all the tips were pooled together and everybody split the money. So I left about an 18% tip because I wanted to make sure that this little bus girl got some cash because she was one bad ass bus girl. So weird at Andina tonight.

I have not been to Andina for a few years. Last time I was there we had our oldest grandson with us. Doris the owner came to our table to thank us for dining and loved that our whole family was there. Years later she again was walking around going table to table thanking people for dining at Andina. Great to see. We decided to have our 34th wedding anniversary dinner there. It was quite busy for a Monday evening which is a good sign. We had reservations at 7:00 and we were seated within a few minutes of arriving. Our waiter told us they were a month out for 7:00 reservations. Another good sign they were thriving after so many years. We ordered two tapas to start to go with the awesome Abeja Cabernet I brought. Jamon Serrano, 12 month aged Serrano ham and Anticucho de pulpo, grilled octopus kebobs with chimichurri and a caper majado de papa. Ham was tasty without being too salty. Octopus was grilled perfectly. Tender with a slight smokiness. Our main courses was Arroz con pato, a gourmet version of a Peruvian dish. Crispy duck confit and duck breast pan seared to order and Seco a la nortena, lamb shank slow cooked in a rich cilantro black beer sauce with garlic rice. Both dishes were excellent. My wife loved the duck and she said it was as good as how Higgins makes it. I loved the lamb shank. Super tender and so savory. The garlic rice was perfect with it. Since it was our anniversary dessert was on the house which was very nice of them Will be back for sure to reacquaint ourselves with a wonderful restaurant.

Superb dining at Andina again. We have been many times--great food and service--one of our favorites in the Pearl and we have tried the greater majority of restaurants in the Pearl. Did you know the servers have to pass an exam to work here. They must learn about the Peruvian food culture and history of the region where food originates. Make sure you ask about the food when you go for your history lesson. Last night we dined in the lower atrium, which is more quaint than the formal, normally full, dining room or the bustling bar. This place pulls in the crowd. I recommend making a reservation for sure. If you go in at 5PM or so, you can get seating in the bar for the whole menu. Our small plates were a beef empanada pastry, asparagus and a creamy squash soup. Main courses were excellent. One, wild mushrooms wok fried with onions, tomatoes, soy, garlic, ago amarillo with papa fritas and garlic rice. Other, a Peruvain iconic dish was duck confet and pan seared duck (2 ways duck) with cilantro infused rice, a savory-sweet passionfruit sauce, and carrots. All amazing! Try the spicy "sexy" woman cocktail!

The original plan was to sample a few tapas then head to another undisclosed location to continue the food adventure that night. That plan failed when the very first dish came out, we were in foodie heaven! De Betarraga - roasted red and gold beets - refreshing start. Honeyboo definitely hate the heck out of beets but loved this preparation. Anticucho de Pulpo - grilled octopus kebobs. A work of art, the glistening skin and glow of tentacle arms ... the most incredible tasting octopus I have ever put my lips to. 24 Oysters - the absolute best ever oysters I have ever eaten in my life. The combination of oysters originate from the coast of Oregon and Massachusetts- Tillamook Sweets, Mayflowers and Petites paired with Andina's very own creation of salsa toppings. Shucked cleanly, fresh tasting, firm flesh bellies and no slimy aftertaste - what more can I say here? Seco a la Nortena - slow cooked lamb shank (5 hours to be exact) Peruvian style. Fall off the bone with a bit of garlic rice and beans brought smiles to our faces. Encanto de Ica - Traditional red wine caramel flan with cinnamon-grape sorbet over Brazil nuts. A different take on flan that not overly sweet with a crunchy disc of Zamorano cheese to bring it all in. Mama herself came out and talked to us about their food and her passion cannot be described; I was quite moved by this gesture. Service and atmosphere - top notch. Easily the #1 place so far in Portland I have been to.

I went here with a group of my coworkers, and I ordered the PALTA RELLENA DE CANGREJO, which is avocado stuffed with crab topped with a poached prawn as tapas and LOCRO SERRANO DE ZAPALLO ANDINO, which is savory squash stew with Andean tubers and cheese, served with garlic rice and a fried quail egg as a main entree. Judging from the price and the ambiance of the venue, I expected that my dish was going to be delicious, but really small. While, of course, the tapas was appropriately sized, I was happily surprised when a GIGANTIC bowl of stew came to my table. Even though the dish tasted magical, I simply couldn't finish it all. Because I also ate some of the complimentary bread and delicious homemade sauces, I was absolutely STUFFED when my coworkers and I left this place. Also when I left, I stupidly forgot my water bottle (which I'm strangely attached to). I called Andina about fifteen minutes after their operating hours and a waiter there found it for me and asked if he should give it to my coworkers (who were still there) or save it for me to come in and get it later. This is just one example of their exceptional service. Needless to say, the food at Andina is top-knotch, the drinks unique and worth the money, and the customer service spectacular. Since the menu is a bit on the pricey side, I'd suggest coming here for a celebration or a date. =]

Don't miss out on the amazing tapas bar that is sure to awaken your pallet. Try thinly-sliced cured tuna loin with chimichurri and an avocado-tomato majado or stick to the classic lomo saltado with beef tenders wok-fried with onions, tomatoes, garlic, aji amarillo served with yukon gold papas fritas. Either way you go, you can't go wrong!

SOO GOOD. There are few places that can justify the expence of a great night out with quality food and drink and this is definitely one of them. SACSAYHUAMÁN & RON-YKI-ÓN are AMAZING drinks. SACSAYHUAMÁN is something I order every time I am at Andina. There is just the right amount of heat balanced witht he passion fruit puree and sugar-lined glass. RON-YKI-ÓN is something one of my friends ordered and it tasted amazing. I am obsessed with ginger and loved the taste of this drink. ANTICUCHO DE CORAZÓN & ANTICUCHO DE PULPO are my favorite tapas. I would probably order the large portion of them and eat them as entrees they are so amazing. ANTICUCHO DE CORAZÓN is marinated beef heart kebobs, served with a spicy salsa de rocoto. The meat is more tender than you think with the right texture and flavor. ANTICUCHO DE PULPO is grilled octopus kebobs with chimichurri and a caper majado de papa. The octopus is not rubbery or chewy. It has the perfect texture and the mashed potatoes that are served with it has lots of flavor and is delicious.

This restaurant has an interesting twist on Peruvian food. We got served immediately, even after we couldn't make our reservation due to an emergency. I only ate two small plates and I can't wait to come back here and eat a main dish.

This place/food is decadent. The Service/food exquisite. Did I mention the food? So delicious. Our waiter Claudia suggested the best tapas including the octopus beef hearts empanadas civeche.... All amazing. The oysters.. Muah! Going back tonight to try more tapas and we were just there 2 nights ago. Can't miss eating at this place When you are in PDX, your palate will thank you.

I had a couple friends mention this place to me, and I was simply flabbergasted at how unique, tasty and aromatic the food was. The waiter was quite proper, friendly and knew his menu. The way he described the dishes and specials had us drooling with anticipation right from the start. I know we tend to be a bit spoiled and supersaturated with the food in Los Angeles, and often are let down with local fare when we travel, but rest assured, you will leave this fine establishment with a full belly and a twinkle of contentment in your eye. This is a must try for the Portland area.

We stopped in to Andina for lunch while shopping in the Pearl District. We had not heard of it and were intrigued by the Peruvian cuisine and tapas. The atmosphere is extremely inviting with different types of wood throughout and soft Peruvian music playing. The acoustic is easy for conversation and, even though there were several other people seated nearby we had no trouble hearing each other. My wife had EMPANADAS DE CARNE, a flaky pastry filled with slow-cooked beef, raisins and Botija olives. It was delicious! You have a choice of a small, medium or large plate. There are several other tapas choices. I had LOMO SALTADO, which is Cascade Natural beef tenders wok-fried with onions, tomatoes, oyster sauce, garlic and ají amarillo, served with Yukon Gold papas fritas and garlic rice. The meat was tender, the sauce just spicy enough and the rice & potatoes - fantastic! For dessert we shared EL CLÁSICO, a traditional colonial dessert; maiz morada pudding paired with delicate arroz con leche, coconut brittle and seasonal fruit. Yummy! The menu had many fascinating choices and we are looking forward to going back soon for more!

Best Peruvian in the PNW!!! Another treasure and obsession in PDX. Found this little spot on my trip back in 2010 thanks to my friends who live here. I was on the hunt for a spicy cocktail. They told me to go to two places. A place right around the corner from here ( Eeck) and this! But warned us about the crazy long wait. First time around I came here purely for their cocktail but being it was happy hour, I squeezed in the grilled octopus and grilled beef hearts. They were pretty divine! I was bummed I couldn't fit in more food. The bar area can get extremely busy and crowded. It's crazy how small seating can get in the bar area. Well that was then! I've went back plethora of times since my initial visit way back then! I've done several happy hours plus dinners here. The food has yet to disappoint! And their Sacsayhauman cocktail! Oh so tasty!! Now how many restaurants can give you that happiness time after time? Consistency is key as well as execution of their dishes and great service. Dishes I love- **Grilled Octopus - serve top of mash potatoes and other veggie tasty combo pile. ** Fish Ceviche- tasty freshness! *Grilled beef hearts - this comes with a really tasty sauces. I love the red one the most since it;s the spiciest one. * Oysters with salsa topping - perfect *Scallops entree - 3 perfect scallops! It is amazing, finger licking good. * Arroz con Pato - a very filling duck dish. I love duck! And this was done just right. Really pretty duck breast with rice and veggies. yumm! * Corderito De Los Andes - Rack of Lamb - a little too heavy for me. But I still like it. And those peruvian potatoes are to die for! *Palta Rellena De Cangrejo - avocado stuffed with crab and poached prawn on top! ** Pescado al rocoto y kion - new fav dish!! Roasted fish topped with ginger and served over shiitake mushrooms with bok choy in a smoked pork broth and quinoa fried rice! Yes quinoa fried rice has been my new thing and I totally love this version. **Bistec novoandino - filet mignon, grilled to order, topped with oyster mushroom salsa criolla and black beer sauce!!! Serve with humita and a sauté of fingerling potatoe. YUmmmm! And this is the one place where you would want to order dessert even if you are full! Do order - Alfajores and peruvian truffles! It comes out so beautiful, you might almost feel bad eating it. And their creme brulee is also fantastic. Overall, this place has been consistently amazing for a good 4 years. They are always adding new dishes to the menu which I appreciate. But they also keep the classic favorite ones. Definitely make reservation even if you plan to come during happy hour. I've dined here in all three levels. The bottom is cute and casual, middle/ the main floor is more classy and upstairs is romantic. Make reservation, show up, listen to the music, watch the kitchen in action while you sip your cocktail. And proceed to eating!! You will love every bite of it!

Good tapas! Make sure you make a reservation. A coworker and I went at 8:30 on a Tuesday and it was packed. Luckily, we made a reservation and was seated immediately. Service was great. Our waiter, David, was very prompt and the water service was constant. We got the golden prawns (nothing special), tartar filet mignon with quail egg (great flavors), chicken and beef empanadas, (chicken was better for us), and sweet piquillo peppers (my favorite). Great good, a little pricey but happy I went.

After coming back from traveling in Peru, I was excited to find this place! Food was very good and comparable to the original Peruvian food I had in Lima. We ordered the mussels, causa with crab salad, tuna sashimi, scallops, beef empanada, grilled asparagus, the five fish ceviche, and arroz con mariscos. The Arroz Con Mariscos wasn't on the dinner menu but they have it for lunch and they'll serve it if you ask! Everything was delicious but my favorite was the ceviche (it has a spicy kick to it). The sashimi has a spicy sauce to it too. Either way, amazingly delicious and is a go-to spot!

For a restaurant that has over a thousand great reviews, is there anything new that I can contribute? Nope. Order anything and everything - you won't be disappointed. The cocktails are all crazy good, but if I had to choose one I would get their house sangrias (get both white and red sangria and double fist them at the same time). The service is top notch but that comes with the $$$ Ambiance is super sexy, especially with the dim lighting and candles. So gentlemen if you want to put your special lady/man in the mood for a little somethingsomething after your dinner, this is the place.

I really enjoyed my meal here. They have a vegan-vegetarian menu which is always a great start and a decent number of the items were vegan. Except if I remember correctly there wasn't a vegan dessert, but don't hold me to that. It was definitely an animal eating restaurant. I ordered the Hongos Saltados and it was very good. The wild mushrooms were actually wild mushrooms (not cremini, yes that does happen often) and the sauce almost tasted like a very rich steak sauce (weird I know) but it worked with the dish. My husband got the Quinotto "Chisaya Mama" and wasn't very pleased. He actually thought he was getting more of a risotto and it was actually more of a pile of quinoa with mushrooms in it. One of the people we were with got the same dish just not vegan and didn't like it all the much more with the cheese. Because of his lack of satisfaction and the extremely high cost, I doubt we will go again. Cool place though.

I really liked this place for several reasons. First, they are a Peruvian restaurant. My family is from Peru and it's nice to find a Peruvian restaurant because there aren't many. It's also hard to find a Peruvian restaurant that can make food to match my expectations since I've grown up with Peruvian food and have been to Peru. We went for lunch and made a reservation, which probably wouldn't have been necessary but we did just in case. We started with drinks and 5 medium appetizers (for 4 people). These medium appetizers are $20 each and not that big. We had the beef heart Anticuchos, Yuca Rellenas, Scallops, Empanadas, and the Purple Causa. All of them were pretty good but the Rellenas were my favorite. In my opinion, the Anticuchos and the empanadas could have been better. We then decided to split two Lomo Saltado entrees between the 4 of us. The Lomo was good, but again I've had better. All in all it is a good restaurant. The wait staff was pretty good with the exception to one girl who wasn't sure how to pronounce items. I would recommend going for lunch because dinner is very pricey!

This is a great Peruvian restaurant! I had one of the best ceviche dishes I've ever had at this place "de pescado"....was absolutely perfect. Also had the trio de papa and de betarraga which were both very good. Serving sizes were perfect. Pisco sour was superb! For dessert I had helado de lúcuma, an alfajor, and a few tastes of my partner in crime's rhubarb sorbet...all wonderful! I like the separate vegan menu which makes it easier to order for the vegan academy alumni. I do have one request....better bread. Something from a great bread shop would be make this place a 5+. Would love to go again!

My girlfriend and I went here for a special occasion dinner. The restaurant itself seemed charming (despite being very busy-- get a reservation!), and the staff were incredibly friendly. Our table however, was situated right next to another couple-- as in close enough that despite my best efforts, I had no choice but to overhear their candle-lit conversations, and presumably they, ours. It was very awkward. In terms of food, I really enjoyed everything I tried. Unfortunately, my GF didn't have quite as pleasant an experience. She's a vegetarian, so we asked for the veg menu that's mentioned on the normal one. We chuckled a bit when we realized it was the same as the normal menu, just with meat-centric options pruned out. She decided to go with two small plates as her main meal, neither of which she really enjoyed. Overall, it ended up being a super-expensive meal, with only one of us satisfied. I like the idea of this place, but I don't think I'd return unless for some kind of happy hour special.

My overall favorite "serious" restaurant in Portland. We only go there on special occasions, just to preserve its specialness. The food is totally unique and delicious. Just make sure to reserve a table well in advance as it is always full.

To-go game is on point. They never get stuffy when I walk in to grab to-go and give me plentiful bread and their signature spicy sauces. The sides are so delicious here-- sweet potatoes, rice and quinoa sides to the mains were so delectable. The octopus is really fun. For the price, the chicken really isn't any better than we can roast ourselves, so grab something fun that you can't whip up for yourself! I'd say stick to the tapas for that price. And don't forget the empanada for God's sake. Peruvian cookie is also a steal at $2.50 and worth the powder getting everywhere!

I had the chance to try out some amazing dining destinations in Portland, and Andina was by far my favorite in its class. Everyone from hostess to wait staff was friendly and helpful. People took the time to explain the menu, and follow-up with you during dinner without being intrusive. We ordered the Seco a la Northena (lamb shank) and Conchas Del Senor de Sipan (scallop), and both were exceptional: Seco a la Northena: The lamb shank was fall of the bone tender with balance flavor. One of the better lamb dishes I had in recent months. Conchas Del Senor de Sipan: The scallops were seared perfectly. The mashed potatoes were silky without any lump. Every ingredient complemented one another making this one of my favorites. A classic example of the whole is greater than the sum of its ingredients.

Ok i'm going to start off with the drinks. I got the sacsayhuaman "sexy woman" (habanero infused vodka cocktail) and the red wine sangria, yeah 2 drinks, i was a little thirsty that night. OMG both drinks were delicious. First off, let me say - I'm not a cocktail kind of girl, i cannot usually stand sugary drinks. I'm more of a straight shots girl - but i heard good things of the drinks here and had to try them myself. I don't think i could ever have sangria anywhere else, it will never live up to Andina's sangria. the red wine was perfect, after it had been soaking in the fruits all day, a very fruity delicious drink. The sexy woman drink was excellent... thought the habanero was going to be weird at first but it was just the perfect kick of spice! loved it, would def go back for the drinks. The food was good. We got the beef hearts, empanadas, lomo saltado, and mango cebiche. my favorite was the beef hearts. very chewy and came with a delicious sauce that went well with it. The empanada's was my next favorite. Reminds me of the hot pockets i used to get for lunch in middle school but much better! It was good sized empanadas too. I wasn't too thrilled with the lomo saltado, but the rice that came with it had a little kick of flavor to it - that was different, wasn't expecting that. The mango cebiche was good but I could've done without it. A little bit too much lemon for me, and didn't taste enough of the mango flavor. Overall, this was a good recommendation. We weren't sure how "fancy" it was going to be, but most people just wore casual-dressy clothes, nothing super fancy. I didn't think the prices were bad either!

We had an absolutely amazing family dinner at Andina! My husband and I were visiting from out of town and wanted to get together with extended family, and my mom picked this place. I was reluctant at first, I've never had Peruvian food before, but when I checked the Yelp reviews I had high hopes, and Andina did not let us down. We had a reservation and were seated almost immediately at a nice table near the window. The servers were all very nice and attentive even though the place was packed. The menu offers a great selection of tapas style food to share, as well as large entrees. The bread and dipping sauces that they serve you to start are divine! We started with the Empanadas De Carne (meat and olive empanadas) and Chicharrones de Langostinos (crispy quinoa prawns). I didn't care for the empanadas too much (I don't like olives) but everyone else at the table loved them, and the shrimp were awesome. The entrees were really fantastic. I had the Corderito de los Andes, which is a double rack of lamb served with these amazing crispy cheesy potatoes and a small salad on the side. It was absolutely delicious! I wanted my lamb cooked through and was worried that it might be tough, but they cooked it perfectly and it was really amazing. My husband got the Carapulcra con Puerco, the cheese stuffed pork loin which he finished completely. 3 people in our party ordered fish and everyone (even Grandma) said it was great. When we were finishing our meal one of the owners came over to visit with us, and she was so friendly and pleasant. Everyone really appreciated it, and she genuinely wanted to know how we enjoyed our first try of Peruvian food. The bill was pricey, but between appetizers, drinks, entrees, dessert and a truly fantastic overall experience I would say that it was worth it.

Long time patron of this restaurant. In fact we even have made a tradition to book the wine cellar area annually with 4 to five different families to celebrate. So I have to state with a sad heart that the restaurant has changed over the years and not for the better. Had a recent visit there to celebrate our daughter' birthday. The night started with waiting for almost an hour past our reservation time . when we finally sat down to celebrate my daughter's birthday, our waitress was not welcoming at all And we all felt like she did not want to be working that night. The menu had just changed recently so some of the items we really enjoyed were gone. I do not mind spending good money for good food but I feel like they now nickel and dime the customers. Portions are so much smaller than in the past and when I looked over my bill, it appear they now even change for their bread and 3 dipping sauce when it use to be free. Added on $6. Not only that , I had asked if I could have some extra jalapeño dip for the bread and low and behold, snuck in another $4 on the bill. In all fairness, the food is still tasty but I just cannot bear their new philosophy. Soon I will be paying for the water. Will have to look for a new favorite restaurant...

Truly wonderful dinner. If you are looking for a spectacular dining experience, treat yourself to an evening at Andina. Ordered the lamb and duck dish (both are very popular ones) as our main course. LOVED the lamb. That was definitely the star of the show for me, but everything else was also delicious. Really recommend that you talk to whomever is serving you that evening since everyone who works there is incredibly nice and helpful. :)

I go to Andina every time I'm in Portland and just love it. Most of us had cocktails: pisco sour, mojito de piña and the piña colada. Piña colada was the stand out. The majority of us ordered the lamb shank and it was pretty amazing. We were all very happy. The empanadas and the yucca rellena we're also delicious. Our waitress was pretty condescending.. really makes you feel dumb for asking any questions and seems to enjoy it! The only downside and reason for 4 stars. She also really seemed ready to flip her table and get us out of there. Will def be back, just hope for a different server.

The reviews are in - Andina is one of the Portland areas top places to dine. Andina was one of the very early Peruvian restaurants to open in a major U.S. market. They were ahead of the times. Now, every major U.S. and European city has a Peruvian restaurant. What makes Andina stand out is the emphasis on fresh, high quality, local ingredients. They took a page from the culinary playbook of Gaston Acurio and made their menu a "new" Peruvian experience. To this I mean - the dishes at Andina are just as much fusion food as high-end gourmet. What Andina is not is a traditional Peruvian restaurant. I travel to Peru about every-other-month. I have been traveling to Peru for over 20-years. Andina's menu is not traditional Peruvian fare - and this is not a bad thing. It just means that dinners need to know that they are getting a spin on traditional dishes as viewed through the lens of the owners and the master chefs in the kitchen. The long and short of my review - I adore Andina. The owners, the expert staff, the amazing kitchen, the beautiful apportioned dinning space - everything comes together to create a wonderful evening (or lunch) out. In a restaurant city like Portland it is really hard to stand out; and, Andina does just that - with class and a wonderful array for flavors. Go - you will not be disappointed.

We had a really wonderful experience dining at Andina last night. If you live in Portland but aren't familiar with Peruvian food, this is the place to start because it is owned and run by some really beautiful souls who share a serious passion for Peruvian food and culture. We had the pleasure of meeting one of the owners, Doris, and she is such a lovely woman. She obviously cares very much about not only her clients and the high quality food and drinks they serve, but also for all the people who work there. There is something quite special about restauranteurs who put their hearts into all aspects of their business. Chef Oscar Martin, a Peruvian born chef who came to Portland by way of San Francisco, was a true standout in the restaurant last night. His cebiche mixto was truly on point. For those of you who love cebiche I can promise you he does not disappoint. He brings the freshest ingredients, a delicate balance, and an artful eye for composition to his plates. Also note the fresh oysters if that's your thing - they are worth your attention. We also split the causa with chicken, diver scallop, and grilled octopus small tapas plates which were outstanding. Chef Martin also treated us to a small tasting of Kobe beef skirt steak served on a paste of aji panca (specialty Peruvian peppers). The beef was fresh, tender, and cooked and seasoned to perfection. For our entrée we split the rack of lamb, prepared medium rare, with a side of green beans and potatoes. It was some of the best lamb I have had in a long time. We drank Pisco sours to round out this authentic meal, and they did not disappoint. Each round was consistently mixed. Kudos and thanks to the bartender(s) for that. Honestly, Andina is not just the best Peruvian restaurant in Portland (which, by far and away, it is) but it very well might also be one of the best restaurants in Portland full stop. Artful platings, well balanced and thoughtful options, and a robust menu place Andina above. I can't give enough stars. More importantly I can't wait to go back again.

My boyfriend and I went to Andina this past Saturday for dinner. I had been wanting to try this restaurant ever since I moved here three years ago and it did not entirely meet my expectations! I had heard so many great things about it and I am a big fan of Peruvian food. The food was, of course, delicious. We started with the quinoa bread and three salsas and the empanadas and enjoyed both appetizers. I had the quinoa crusted scallops with potato-parsnip puree and golden beet and crabmeat "cannelloni." It tasted good but my portion size needed some work. I only had three scallops to accompany the large amount of potatoes the cannelloni were miniature. My boyfriend had the lamb shank which was a good size and tasted great. We expected to have great service which would have made the meal better over all, but were disappointed. Our server didn't smile and treated us like a business transaction. We hope that next time we go back here our experience is better overall. We do want to go back to try more authentic Peruvian dishes.

I am always surprised just how greedy some businesses/companies can be. Last night we went to Andina's which traditionally has been one of my favorite restaurants in town. We have been going since they opened in 2003 and helped spread the gospel of the amazing, food, service and music. It's Peruvian and it's always been amazing. It was already very expensive but we dealt with it because it was so good! It's always packed and you often need to book in advance for dinner. Open table has 4000 5 star reviews and yelp has 1800 5 star reviews. They have always given amazing sauces and bread (free for over 11 years) when you sit down and if you are gluten free they give you Yuca for free. They CLEARLY are doing financially well, largely due to the many consistent loyal fans and how did this amazingly successful restaurant THANK their customers.....they decided to increase the price of not only the menu items but now they charge for their bread and yuca (free for 11+ years). It's so sad how greedy and selfish business/companies can be. I know they are not all that way but it's pretty disgusting. I went with 4 other people that all came to the same conclusion, service wasn't great, over priced, has gone down hill and we will not return on principal. Imagine for example your local steak joint (insert your favorite here) started charging for previously free bread OR local Mexican Restaurant started charging for previously free chips. When asked we got a very nice "sales pitch" from our waiter which we all joked (we've all been in sales) that he must have been spoon fed in order to explain the new charges. So disappointing, but the great news is in Portland there are so many amazing restaurants to choose from!

Where is the 10 star rating?? Your life is not complete until you have dined here. I wanted to find the perfect swanky, fun, lively but intimate dinner spot for my boyfriend and I to take my sister and her husband out to dinner. This was exactly what I was looking for; service is flawlessly on point and food is out-of-this-world exceptional. -Perfect date night or group dinner night out (we were a party of 4) - If they are booked on reservations, don't give up! You can put your name in to wait for a table and they will text or call you when your table is almost ready. In fact, they encourage you to get a drink or wander the city and they will contact you when it's time to head back for your table. Awesome awesome awesome service from the hostess staff. - Ask for the little room upstairs! It has a romantic, intimate vibe that is slightly less noisy than the main dining room downstairs but still has live music. On this night it was a solo guitarist (upbeat vibe though that made me want to dance). Perfect amount of live music with room for conversation. - $20/bottle wine cork fee. Not bad and they didn't care that we had brought our own special bottle from home. - Menu is one side of tapas style small/medium/large portion sizes and the other side is entrees. We decided on "tapas roulette" as I called it. Each person at our table took turns pointing out 2 small tapas to our server. As soon as their selections arrived, the next person would point out their 2. It kept the food flowing in small portions, was a lot of fun because we were continually surprised, but we did not overeat and were able to sample small bites of many incredible dishes. - All the dishes were cooked to perfection and the flavors were mouth watering, different, and succulent with each new dish. A few tapas items that changed our lives: - CONCHAS A LA PARRILLA: grilled diver scallops with a tamari-brown sugar butter sauce and crispy onions - CONCHAS A LA PARMESANA: bay scallops baked with Grana Padano cheese and lime butter - CHICHARRONES DE LANGOSTINOS: crispy golden prawns studded with quinoa, served with salsa agridulce - ANTICUCHO DE PULPO (octopus?! you might say? YES! DO IT!) grilled octopus kebobs with chimichurri and a caper majado de papa - Cebiche: DE PESCADO "5 ELEMENTOS": our iconic preparation of fresh fish in leche de tigre 18 - ATÚN FUSIÓN: sashimi-style tuna in a tamarindo-rocoto uchucuta, served with a mango-peanut salsa 18. - we ended by sharing an entree - CORDERITO DE LOS ANDES: a succulent double rack of grass-fed lamb, grilled to order, and served with a Peruvian potato-two cheese timbale with a roasted pepper demi-glace. Even my sister, who has been a vegetarian for 10 years, had a bite of the lamb. She said that because everything else had been a 10 star in her book, she had to try this too. - Service was excellent. The Sommelier came over to open our bottles of wine and was educated in wines and wine service and was friendly (yes, she knew to pour for the ladies first!). Joel was our server and was very professional but also had a sense of humor - a great combination. Verdict: I could write and rave about this place all day. Just go, it will absolutely be worth it.

This was one of the few places open for dinner on Memorial Day. We loved Andina on our last visit, this time not so much. It was not horrible, but for the standards and reputation they have set, it was a letdown. Our server was great. She knew the menu and the drinks. She was great with the pairings. We started with the ceviche. I thought the fish was a bit too gristly and chewy. I ordered one of the potato starters; I think it is a timbale. It had mashed potatoes flavored with lime. It had a layer of crab meat, then tuna in a spicy sauce and topped with a fried prawn. The potatoes were great and paired nicely with the crab. The tuna was the same as the ceviche and was a little too fishy. The prawn was lightly fried and and added a great finish to the dish. I also had the duck. The dish had a confit duck leg and a seared breast. The leg was great. The breast was cooked the correct doneness, but the skin did not have that crispy skin that you get from a good sear. It was a bit fatty and rubbery. My wife had a vegetarian dish that was a bit bland, but still good.

One of the best meals I have had in a very long time. Let's start by saying this place is so vegetarian-friendly they have an entire vegetarian menu. Get a reservation or be prepared to wait a while because this place has a bold reputation, and rightfully so. We started out with bread served with three traditional Peruvian sauces - a peanut based sauce, a spicy passion fruit sauce, and a bright fresh chimichurri type sauce with tons of kick. Let me be clear, this was just the free bread that came with the table. Yeah. Awesome. We then had a potato small plate smothered in three more completely unlike anything I'd ever tasted sauces and roasted caramelized peanuts. So good. I ordered quinoa risotto "Quinotto" with fresh market vegetables, laced with truffle oil, and decorated with a plate full of colourful sauces. It came out looking like plain old quinoa until I took a bit and my mind was blown. I never knew quinoa could taste so delicious. My husband had the chicken which he said was incredible moist and delicate. A very generous portion with sides of vegetables and potatoes. Seriously. Go here. Our service was superb and the atmosphere was charming. It's a bit on the fancier side with copper tables and dark, cozy atmosphere. Definitely a special place.

Based off the reviews, I was expecting to be blown away. However, this place fell short of my expectations. The ambiance was nice, and the hostess was polite. The wait times, however, were a little over the top. One of our guests had to wait 10 minutes before our server came back to take his drink order, and he later spent 20 minutes waiting for his drink, as did another member of our party. While the bar was crowded, I understand that this may delay the process, but please don't make your dinner guests suffer because people are rushing in to catch the tail end of happy hour. I have to commend any restaurant that can handle the volume they did on a week night. Clearly other people are big fans, I'm just not one of them.

I had Andina bookmarked & had a calendar with our OBF & foodie adventure loosely planned out. My husband & I were discussing dinner plans for our first night in Portland & a girl sitting next to him on the plane jumped in & said that Andina was fantastic. Our plans for Day 1 were now solid. By the way, Andina was also on our hotel's concierge picks list. I'm glad that our concierge made reservations for us since it was packed even on a Wednesday. We were seated in a lovely courtyard area which was very romantic. There was also a Latin musician playing his guitar above us. Here's what we had: Sacsayhuaman w/ Habanero Pepper Vodka, puréed passion fruit, sugar rim & cilantro.- Wow! I found a winner! Vacation in a glass. Pisco Sour "Kuong Tong" w/ Campo de Encanto Pisco, lime, five spice syrup, lychee nectar & topped w/ a frothy custard-apple foam. My husband liked but agreed that mine was better. Bread w/ 3 dipping sauces-Very tasty. Cebiche De Pescado "5 Elementos"-Delicious. Tiradito De Betarraga w/ roasted Red & Golden beets, Aji Verde, pickled vegetables & sesame oil.-Tasty! Lomo Saltado w/ beef tenders, onions, tomatoes, soy sauce, Aji Amarillo, papas fritas & garlic rice.-Another winner! Carapulcra Con Puerco w/ pork loin stuffed w/ Fontal cheese, atop Wild Boar-potato carapulcra, Aji panca, peanuts, Peruvian chocolate & a Red wine poached pear.-Tasty. We also shared a bottle of wine but barely put a dent in it so we corked it & took it to go to be finished on another night. The service was friendly and attentive. We will definitely come back when we're back to visit Portland.

Love this place, it never disappoints. I've only eaten in the restaurant twice but I have been in the bar for dessert several times and the service is always great. Some of their bold flavors are a bit strong for me sometimes but i haven't really really found anything I didn't like.

Wow. Talk about the foody disappointment of the year. One of the top ten restaurants of Portland served me one of the most regrettable meals I have had in years. Not one, but several cold dishes were served to our table. Potatoes are absolutely disgusting cold. I also was bummed I didn't have any salt packets hidden away in my purse because the lack in flavor was embarrassing to my palate. Flavorless yucca? Oh ... and the mussels ... I forgot about those ... pretty sure a few of them had died prematurely. At least two of us took in a mussel mouth full and immediately responded with sour puckered omg wtf did we just eat faces. Why the two stars - Well presentation presentation presentation ... I mean you at least dressed it up nice people. The service I think was good or at least entertaining enough. I also had a pretty good mojito.

This place will go down as my favorite place in Portland and the best meal I had here throughout my weeklong foodie tour! The authentic ambiance, the delicious food, tasty cocktails and the wonderful service! The place is gorgeous and very lively! The live South American music was a beautiful touch to the evening. The service was top notch and the food was spectacular. I had a dozen oysters, ANTICUCHO DE PULPO- an octopus dish and TUNA NIKKEI with habanero salsa. The waiter, Eddy, ordered for me and I was very pleased with each selection. The pisco sours, margaritas and anything they have that is infused with spices are all fantastic!

Whoa, I was so surprised about the reviews for this place. I look up reviews for almost every restaurant I go to. This one has great reviews and reservations go about a week or two out, so it should be fantastic, right? My husband and I were pretty disappointed by our meal. As this is a tapas bar, everything has small portions and you are expected to order quite a few plates to taste everything. We ordered: * The three types of potato: the flavors differed from each one and they were all pretty starchy. It was ok. There didn't seem to be any seasoning on them so it was pretty boring to eat. * Peruvian steak tartare: the tartare itself was pretty good, especially with the little crunch of capers they added as a garnish. I prefer the steak tartare at Olympia provisions though, if I had to choose between the two. * Mussels cooked in white wine: These were pretty delicious. They are chilled and the flavors were quite good. * Scallops: These were the best things that we ordered. The crispy onion straws and the sauce were delicious. * The complimentary bread with 3 sauces: each had varying levels of spiciness. I enjoyed the peanut sauce, while my husband preferred the mango-tasting sauce. They were all ok. For the most part, the food was quite good but as other have previously stated, the price is too high for what it is. I think most of our disappointment was that we were prepared to be blown away by the food, but sadly that did not happen. Parking is quite difficult to find, especially if you decide to go on a Friday night like we did.

Certainly special occasion worthy! My boyfriend and I came here for an anniversary. The staff was incredibly insightful, and we asked the waiter to bring a good sampling of the tapas menu. He brought back the most incredible empañadas imaginable. The bread and house-made salsa is phenomenal. The cocktails are great, the pisco was on-point, and their golpe de estado is something to dream about. Their live music is also something worth visiting Andina for.

When I think back to Andina and think about how many stars I should give it.... I was like... 4...... but then I REALLY thought back, and looked through my pictures of the food, and I realize DUH it was so a 5. I enjoyed the hell outta my food. So this was a tapas style restaurant, so for the most part we ordered medium sized dishes to share between 6, as well as 2 large plates to share. The bread was definitely interesting. Came with 3 different dips or sauces, and I liked the jalapeno one. The passion fruit one was yummy, but I don't like it with bread. So we started off with oysters, and I think we ordered 3 different types. It came with your usual lemons (or limes) and... several different.... toppings. I forgot what they were, but everything together was refreshing, tangy, and slurpalicious. Yea that's what I said, keep up. Then came the ceviche. I love me some ceviche. The fish melted in your mouth, and the sauce/broth it was served in was sooooo tasty. It was fresh and delicious. Up next was the prawns fried in quinoa. That quinoa really gave it a nice crunch. Dip that prawn in some sauce and BOOM flavor bomb in your mouth. THE POTATOES! I forgot what it was called exactly... potato di patatas? Potato my tatas? Potata tatatas? Hm it was something like that and yes you should order it. It was like a fritata but made with layers of thinly sliced potatoes. Like au gratin but not goopy. It was also drizzled on with the most delicious sauce and topped with roasted peppers. Heaaaven for potato lovers. Then the beef hearts! It was super flavorful, and it was tender as far as beef hearts go. The sauce was delicious, the marinade was great. Now the 2 big plates that we shared.. I chose the lomo saltado because that's my favorite Peruvian dish. Probably everyone and their mamas' mamas' favorite dishes also. I always thought of it as a... casual dish. Andina really brought it up several levels. Geeezus. The rice. Even the rice was flavorful. And so soft. Wtf. It had a hint of garlic flavor. The sauce. The sauce was just soooooooooooooo............. amazing. And the beeeeeef. Holy crap it just cut like butter. The FRIES... they didn't give enough of those. But putting everything together - rice, beef, fries, tomato, onions, and sauce......... put that in your mouth and it just fucks up your tongue cos now everything else will taste average. JK duh I'm exaggerating but it was freaking delicious. And my friend ordered some quinoa/cheese dish that was vegetarian and I was just not impressed. It could be the fact that it came after the lomo saltado or it could be the fact that I just simply was not impressed. Anyway that's as far as the food goes. Pretty effing fantastic. And service was awesome! Place is also really nice, although a bit crowded/cramped. Most of us got cocktails, and I got the horchata one... I think it tasted more like coffee than horchata? Coffee + horchata + alcohol? Hm it was quite good. Also tried someone's mojito and some other drink and they were all tasty.

The food and service was very good. Most of the items were a bit saucy for my taste, but they were still very good. My favorite was the De Pescado "5 Elementos". So fresh and limey! The place is very pricey, but a pretty good experience. I do agree with one of the other reviews, the bread is so bad that it is pointless.

If you were to strip away the ambiance, live music, and festive feeling and just sat down in a plain room to judge the food alone you would be super disappointed. As a group dining experience its a 4 for sure. Like I said festive, fun-every city needs a place like this. But if you focus on the food you realize its mediocre at best. The food lacks any sophistication and is kind of generic fried goods. If you order enough items there's a few gems on the menu- grilled octopus for example. The fish/ceviche always tastes fishy and I would just skip them. We've been multiple times and always walked away disappointed. Only bonus- awesome service and can easily accomodate a large group. Other than that- skip it...

Ordered small plates. Fair food, ordered small scallop dish. Was served 1 1/2 scallops. For real the kitchen cut a scallop in half and served the dish to the table that way. 4th visit. My LAST.

Honestly, I didn't know what to expect of the tapas when I read that it's a place that also serves Peruvian dishes -- let's just say I'm pleasantly surprised! The tapas are not as transitional as you would find on the streets in Sevilla or Granada; I supposed they're South American influenced, and I would say they are more sophisticated in taste, ingredients and presentation as well. I wish we had the gastro capacity for everything on the menu, but here is what we had: Tapas 1. Peruvian Fillet mignon tartare with capers, olives, cilantro and quail egg. Well seasoned, meat is silky smooth, topped with a raw quail egg, loved it. 5/5 2. Green mango shrimp ceviche. Refreshing and tasty. Green mango added some sweetness and gave a good crunch. 4/5 3. Grilled diver scallops with a tamari-brown sugar butter sauce and crispy onion. Juicy and sweet scallops perfectly grilled. We wish there were more when it was done. 5/5 Entree 4. Braised pork tenderloin slices with gorgonzola ravioli. 4/5 Dessert 5. Fried lúcuma ice cream coated with quinoa and peanuts, with chancaca-soaked figs and a goat cheese chantilly. Never thought quinoa can be used as a fried batter, but it was surprising light and crunchy. The lúcuma ice cream was not too sweet and still allowed me to taste the figs. 5/5 The meal came with bread and some dipping sauces - peanut (savory), sweet mango, and salsa verde (got a kick to it). I liked salsa verde the most. We also had glasses of a red and a white sangria; they were very fruity and refreshing. All in all, this was a great meal, and the service was fantastic from start to finish. The restaurant actually paid attention to a note we had on the reservation via OpenTable, in which we were celebrating an anniversary. Everyone greeted us with a simple "happy anniversary", and unexpectedly comped our dessert in the end. We had such a great evening; and we would definitely be back for happy hours, and to sample the rest of the menu next time we're in town.

This is the second time my husband and I ate at Andina. The food was good like always. Not giving a 5 stars because its seems to me that the portions are getting smaller. The ceviche was not served with Peruvian Corn (a big deal even for my husband that is American). Also, (something probably not important for some people but it is for me knowing this is a expensive restaurant) my husband's fork fell to the floor while he was eating and one of the waitress saw what happened. I thought she was gonna bring him a clean one but she never did. It was good that he still had his salad/appetizer fork with him so he was able to continue eating with that one. Just little details that I didn't enjoy this last time around. Will we come back? Probably not.

Amazing food no matter what you order. A must have ceviche and empanadas. The scallops was a good dish as well. Our whole group had a wonderful time and enjoyed the food. The decor is modern and the restaurant is very buddy. They have two dinner seating I think it was around 6pm for the first seating and 8pm for the second. My only objection is about the restaurant being a bit noisy and there was a feeling of too many people moving around the restaurant all the time.

This is a loud restaurant. It has three dining areas (that I could see) so it can fit a lot of people. Reservations is recommended since it's usually packed. They have a musician playing guitar who is quite good. His music isn't distracting at all. I think it actually enhanced the mood if the restaurant. As for the food--fabulous. We got three small tapas to split amongst four of us as an appetizer. My favorite was the Atun Fusion, which was very thinly sliced tuna with some kind of sweet peanut sauce. Didn't care too much for the sauce but the tuna was excellent-I preferred that by itself. Another plate was Trio de papas y Salsa Peruanas-a medley of potatoes with various sauces. The pairing of sauce-potato was great. Unfortunately, this plate is served cold and I think if the potatoes were served warm, I would've enjoyed it exponentially. For my entree, I got the Quinotto. The best part of it was the quinoa risotto. I had forgotten the description of what I ordered so when I took the first spoonful of the quinoa I was surprised by the flavor. There is some type of cheese (tastes like blue cheese) that topped the risotto. Fortunately, I like blue cheese. It does have a sharp, strong flavor, so stay away from this dish if you don't like blue cheese. Loved the risotto. The one thing I didn't like about my entree was the broccolini that came on the side. It was so bitter. I took one bite and knew that if I forced myself to eat it, it would have ruined my whole experience. It was tossed in truffle oil, but dang, that didn't save it. Look to spend $12-40 for tapas (depending on the size) and $20-40 for entrees.

What stood out: Ceviche pescado! Generous portions of fish, perfect acidity and heat-- it was delicious!! The octopus was amazing! The crab and prawn in avocado was tasty, but a bit heavily mixed with what seemed like mayo? I'm sure it's something fancier :) The lomo Saltado definitely did not stand out as much as I hoped it would. The meat was a bit over cooked. The rice had a good flavor to it though. Three salsa and bread: the jalapeño was delicious! The peanut and mango was tasty but a bit on the sweet side.

We came here for lunch. And while we enjoyed our meal overall, we weren't wowed. We had the Cebiche of poached prawns in green mango & passion fruit sauce. This was an interesting mix of the sweetness of the prawns with the tangy mango & passion fruit sauce. An unexpected melding of flavors and one of the highlights. Causa of Mixta Nikkei. Spicy tuna & crab salad on cold mashed potatoes. The cold mashed potatoes were a bit unappetizing and this was probably our least favorite dish. Humor as de quest were Peruvian style tamales. This was delicious although I would've liked them to served piping hot rather than warm due to the way the cheese cools & hardens. Yucca rellena...yucca stuffed with cheese & deep fried. Delicious! This might be more place to eat for dinner. What I liked most was the look & feel of the restaurant and the warmth & hospitality of the patroness to come & chat with us. She gave us quite a bit of family history and stories and honesty when she shared that their family was never initially in the restaurant business and that they had to find chefs who knew how to cook Peruvian. Overall, I think there's a compelling reason this family run business has successfully endured & I only wish we could've tried Andina for dinner instead of lunch. I wish the family all the best!

Peruvian never caught my attention until I watched a cooking show and noticed how they used a lot of seafood in their dishes. If I can give any advice, it would be EAT THE HEARTS! AND THE OCTOPUS! ... Oh, and get a reservation before all that. Like I said, this was our first time at Peruvian and boy were we in for a surprise! It was nothing like how we'd expect it. The beef hearts wasn't rubery like we feared, no... it was delicious. The octopus wasn't small but rather large and one order was perfect for a table of two. By the way, their breads were great and the dipping sauce was fantastic. Each sauce had a different taste it was amazing! Their service was great and the waitress was super patient with us and informative in how to order their tapas. I'd love to come back again!

//PDX Sweetheart Foodie Trip: Aug 21-23, 2015- Stop 6 of 7// Hubs and I made our first out-of-town "entire weekend" getaway since the l'il miss arrived 5.5 years ago. Cue the music! But seriously, hubby was a good sport and I ratcheted my normal foodie weekend levels WAY down. On a Saturday night for dinner (our reservation was for 8:30pm), Andina is a serious hotspot! Live music and tons of folks dining, drinking (at the bar), or waiting for a table. It felt like all of Portland had come to Andina for a festival! I loved the fact that all this buzz and hype was surrounding a Peruvian restaurant, a cuisine that I know very little about. Both the ambiance/ atmosphere (downstairs "cobblestoned" village feel, jamming bar, beautiful South American artifacts and photos lining the walls) and the food were excellent. Food-wise, we were both a little saturated and decided to stick to the tapas side of the menu, and order a little at a time so as not to get too full. Prices are definitely high for what you get portion-wise, but the food was all so delicious, I didn't mind it. I will always pay for quality over quantity! ~"First course": We started off with one of the smaller size "anticuchos" (de pulpo-- grilled octopus kebobs with chimichurri and a caper majado de papa) and a "rellenos" (plato de empanadas-- three savory pastries served with salsa criolla and a key lime wedge. The three empanada flavors were carne- slow cooked beef, raisins, olives; pollo- roasted chicken, local mushrooms; and acelgas- braised spinach, mozzarella). To wash it down, I had a mojito and hubby a margarita. All yummy! ~"Second course": We moved on to a smaller size "mariscos" (chicharrones de langostinos-- crispy golden prawns studded with quinoa, served with salsa agridulce) and a smaller size "platos de verduras" since at this point, I needed some greens! (esparragos peruanos-- grilled asparagus brushed with chimichurri). I believe I ordered a glass of sparkling rose to go with this set. Hubby felt that the quinoa breading on the prawns was a little too heavy, but I loved it! I thought it was an ingenious way of using quinoa and I am looking forward to trying it at home :) ~At this point, the desserts looked intriguing, but we really has no more space in our bellies so I ordered them "to go" and shared with family back in Seattle the next day. We tried 2 of the Teja de Ica (authentic handmade truffle of the day, that day was coconut flavor) and 2 of the Alfajores (classic peruvian cookie, scented with key lime and filled with manjar blanco). Both delicious!! My only complaint about the whole dining experience was that we were seated in between two large parties and the tables were so close together that as the night wound on and the groups got rowdy, I kept getting bumped from behind as there was less than a few inches of space between the back of my chair and the woman seated behind me. The group sitting behind hubby had to strategically place their smallest person behind him in order to allow space for everyone's comfortable seating!

Came here for dinner with friends. The place is much larger than I thought it was, with a large space upstairs and downstairs. We didn't have a reservation and were able to get in on a Thursday night. We all enjoyed our food, and most of the drinks were good, however one of the cocktails had ginger in it and it was very overpowering. It tasted more like drinking ginger water, rather than one of the several ingredients in the drink. Other than that the meal was great!

Super easy to make reservations so I suggest you do so. The food is amazing and the service is top notch Lomo Saltado ($23) Thank you Yelpers for introducing me to this. Now it is my duty to spread the word. This is a must. Awesome steak smothered in some awesome sauce. Not the best description? There's only one adjective to describe the LS: awesome. If I ever came back (I'm from Los Angeles, so I hope I do one day), I would without-a-doubt order this again! Plato de Cream Quemada ($9) Not 1, not 2, but THREE creme brulees. All different flavors and perfect to share! My favor was the honey one, but the lavender has this unique flavor that I've never had in a creme brulee before. In this case, three is not a crowd! Again, awesome service. Great experience.

Even for tapas, this place seems overpriced. The octopus was delicious, grilled to perfection and not too tough. But we didn't get much luck with any of the other items. Oysters were so so. Also for the high price, the drinks were not up to par, with the alcohol a bit overpowering - though I can get why some people might like it that way. We were seated over on the bar side, and the chairs here are really weird and heavy. The tables weren't laid out very well (though to be fair, there was a big party nearby), and we had people bump into our chairs several times.

Being the fourth most reviewed restaurant in Portland sets a very high bar. This was also my first time having tapas, so I was crossing my fingers that it was a cool experience. Andina was everything I could ask for and more! APPETIZER - Cebiche de Pescado "5 Elementos" ($19): ceviche made up with generous pieces of fish. It also comes with a side of corn and sweet potato! TAPAS ($12.50/small - $23/medium - $42/large) - Anticucho de Puplo: grilled octopus kebobs with chimichurri and a caper majado de papa. A fantastic pairing of octopus with a mash potato like carb. - Esparragos Peruanos: grilled asparagus brushed with chimichurri - Conchas a la Parmesana: bay scallops baked with Grana Padano cheese and lime butter. Oh my goodness, that cheese. Oh my goodness, those scallops. - Conchas a la Parrilla: grilled diver scallops with a tamari-brown sugar butter sauce and crispy onions. Love the contrast of the scallops with the crispy onions. ENTREES - Quinotto "Chisaya Mama" ($20): quinoa risotto with Grana Padano cheese, golden beets, local mushrooms, and market fresh vegetables, laced with truffle oil. Who knew quinoa and risotto would go so well together? Not only did our server help us pick a red wine to pair with our food, he helped us pick out some of the dishes we were going to eat. Everything went so well together! The food gave my mouth many, many mouthgasms. It was so good I almost made reservations for the next night!

If you are in Portland and want mouth watering tapas and exquisite drinks, Andina is the place to be! I can't stop raving how delicious the drinks are. I have never been overly impressed with drinks back in Los Angeles, but the drinks here literally blew me out of the water. Margarita de Manzanita: they make their own apple cider to toss in with this drink. How awesome is this? The balance of sweet and sour in this drink just kept making you want to savor every last drop of it. Sacsayhuaman: OMG, the passionfruit purree was phenomenal. The additional habanero pepper kick had the finished touched. You get a little bit of sweetness and a little bit of spiciness; it just had the perfect blend and felt like you were on an island enjoying the sun. I seriously felt like we ordered everything on the menu, but yet there are still so many dishes I want to try. Try everything, be adventurous and you will fall in love with this place. Better yet, there is live music to kick off the night! Thank you Adina for such an amazing experience in Portland.

I've had my share of Peruvian food, and this was took it to a new level! The interior was beautiful, and I loved the pop of color. My mom, sister, and I came here to celebrate my sister's birthday. We told the hostess, but I guess she forgot to mention it to our server. The food was so awesome, we didn't care. We started off with the bread and the 3 dips. Our server mentioned that it used to be complimentary, but now they charge. The bread was hot and fresh. All three dips were so good and had a kick to it. My favorite was the green sauce. Our next appetizer was the ceviche, which was also so fresh and tasted amazing! There were huge pieces of seafood, and I loved the tangy-ness to it! Our main courses were the paella and the lomo saltado. The paella was rich with flavor and tons of seafood. The lomo saltado was my favorite. Unlike the traditional lomo saltado, each component was plated separately. The meat and veggies were sauteed perfectly. The fries were not mixed in, and they were cooked perfectly. We thought we wouldn't be able to finish everything, but we cleaned the plate on all our dishes! Parking is a pain here. We got lucky and found a 3-hr parking spot, but it's a nightmare!

Hint: make a reservation if you plan to eat here. It get's packed. My boyfriend and I weren't too hungry during our reservation time, so we didn't order too much for dinner. I don't quite remember exactly which 4 tapas we ordered, but I remember I tried beef hearts for the first time in my life. They were tasty and very lean. If you're not sure what to expect with their popular beef hearts tapa, I would describe it was a VERY lean steak. As for the other three tapas my boyfriend and I ordered here, I remember enjoying everything. I ordered the sangria and it was good, but I don't think it was anything special. I liked how the restaurant was two stories. It had an intimate but fun vibe going on.

Went here for afternoon bites and drinks. While the food was all around delicious, it wasn't quite as awesome as the reviews led me to believe. FOOD: Complimentary bread w/ three sauces - Bread was really blah. For a place to be truly outstanding in my book, they need to have great bread (or just don't serve it at all). The sauces were delicious and very spicy. We saved them to use on the rest of the meal. Conchas a la Parrilla - The small size comes with a single scallop. It was enjoyable and I loved the crispy onion contrast...but was it $10/scallop amazing? Eh. Empanadas de Carne - The beef, raisin, and olive filling was great. The sauces that came with the bread were excellent with this dish. Mixta Nikkei Causa - My first time trying causa. The waiter said the Nikkei was her favorite. Yukon Gold potato, spicy tuna and crab salad, crispy breaded prawn. This was beautiful to look at and fun to eat. COCKTAILS: I had the Sacsayhuamán - habanero pepper vodka shaken with pureed passionfruit and cane sugar, served with a sugar rim, cilantro leaf garnish. This was really good. Like really good. I also tried the Mojito. Usually Mojitos are too sweet, but this was done well. AMBIANCE: Fun, bright colors, large windows, semi-upscale. SERVICE: Friendly, helpful suggestions, honest. (We asked if they could make a Moscow Mule. The waiter said they could do it, but the bartender would personally not order it because it wasn't very good.)

The mountain of yelp reviews recommending Andina is of Andean proportions ... though many of their most famous dishes are small portions. Tapas isn't just tiny food from Spain, it can also be big flavors from Peru. When the Yelp soccer team crashes into Andina, we don't have to ask who to eat first, but what to eat first. Peruvian tapas is like appetizers for a meal that never comes ... until it becomes the meal. Small bites ... big flavors ... happy Yelper ... the meaning of existence revealed. Call it the Miracle of the Andina. Olivia Z. and me were exploring South Downtown Portland in our alpacaless carriage with the Yelp app in one hand and dreams of a yummy dinner in the other. Street parking is always a premium, so, finding an open meter spot directly across the street, meant destiny met dinner at Andina. We started with a pitcher ($22) of White Sangria for a light, but fruity and sweet relaxer. It's based on Mama Doris' Secret Recipe. I don't know who mama is, but if she's looking to adopt, it's no secret I'm looking to drink. A plate of complimentary Bread and trio of Sauces including Aji Amarillo were nice compliments. Looking back now, I wish I hadn't enjoyed them so much because this tasty starter (thanks to the sauces) was filling. And then we were on to the tapas menu where most items come in three sizes/prices ... which is pretty cool if you have a favorite and want a whole serving. Small: $12.50 Medium: $23 Large: $42 Bring your friends and share ... or not. * Morada This is a purple people pleaser with Peruvian Purple Potato Purée layered with shredded Chicken Breast served with chilled Avocado and a Ají Amarillo. * Palta Rellena de Cangrejo Discover full Peruvian bravado with this Avocado stuffed with Crab and topped with a Poached Prawn. * Anticucho de Corazón Bless my heart, this is macho 'n meaty marinated Beef Heart Kebobs served with a mild Salsa de Rocoto that may not be for the faint of heart ... literally. * Anticucho de Pulpo You'll put your hunger to rest 10,000 leagues beneath the diet thanks to grilled Octopus Kebobs with Chimichurri and a Caper Majado de Papa (Caper Mashed Potatoes) If it sounds like we enjoyed a full meal just of tapas ... well, we did, but didn't let the tapas stop us. Bring on the entrees ... * Arroz Con Pato ($30) The Andina version of this Peruvian classic has both Crispy Duck Confit and pan-seared Duck Breast with Cilantro Rice, Baby Carrots, and a Passionfruit Sauce for for a blend of sweet and unique. * Lomo Saltado ($23) For most Americans, Lomo Saltado probably defines Peruvian Cuisine and though this wasn't my favorite version, Andina's mix of stir-fried Beef (with Onions, and Tomatoes with Garlic, Oyster Sauce, and Ají Amarillo) plus sides of Papas Fritas (fries) and Garlic Rice was tasty. Andina isn't for the those who lack a sense of adventure or high-limit credit card. It's pricey and tasty Peruvian food customized for Portland into small bites with large flavors ... the Milagro en los Andina.

Wow. Very impressed. I'll keep it simple, but definitely look at my pictures to see how much amazing food there was! As for the food - the tapas are amazing. A small feeds 2 people. We had 4, so we ended up ordering 7 tapas and a ceviche. It was more than enough, finishing off with 3 desserts, including the "mystery" dessert that was a chocolate tart with exploding Nutella taste. As for the service, it was definitely superior. Changed our plates out continually, refilled our water/wine consistently, and overall super courteous. Very professional - on par or maybe even better than a Michelin 2 or 3 star. As for the price, it was super reasonable. For $60 a person, you're all feeling super full from all the tapas/wine. We didn't even bother ordering main courses since the tapas were just so good! On a side note, ask for the "Spicy" sauce. It's hidden and they don't bring it out unless you ask for it - it was definitely spicy and packed a punch. Better than any of the other sauces. I'd definitely return here again. The food was top notch 5/5 stars, service 6/5 stars, and at that price, it cannot be beat.

Andina is right in center of the Pearl district with a beautiful ambiance. Make sure to make your reservations well in advance as it can get really packed and the wait time pretty long but it makes it up with its food and service. We tried their yucca sticks with mozzarella with cheesy sauce, chicken Kebobs, avocado cups filled with crab and shrimp and the creme brûlée dessert sampler and everything was just awesome. They have a live band who play until late and make the experience even better I will definitely go back when in P`land.

By some miracle of God, 10 of us were able to get a last minute table here for dinner on a Saturday night! We were seated at a big round table in a quieter, more intimate dining room that had a few other tables. Ambience was nice, classy and dim-lit. Definitely a good date spot! This restaurant features Peruvian tapas with small plates meant for tasting and sharing, as well as larger entrees. I tried the following: - Drinks: Sangria: it was a little too light and one-dimensional but pretty tasty. I felt like I was drinking juice. - Palta Rellena De Cangrejo: avocado stuffed with crab and topped with a poached prawn. This was so delicious!! Great combination of flavors and textures. My tastebuds were diggin it. Definitely my favorite dish of the evening. Get this! - Oysters: I tried two different kinds--I forget the names but they were both West Coast ones. I asked for something similar to Kumamotos (my fave) which are light and sweet and not too briney. Unfortunately, the oysters we got were a little brinier than I would have liked but it wasn't bad. Their mignonette did a great job of masking that ocean taste. - De Pescado "5 Elementos" Ceviche: I usually order ceviche any time I see it on the menu. This one was pretty good but it didn't blow me away and wasn't too memorable. Portions were definitely on the smaller side. - Lomo Saltado: I've definitely had better Lomo Saltado in LA. This one was a disappointment for me because I found it to be too salty. :( But it wasn't bad! *Side note: their complimentary bread is AWESOME! Especially with their three delicious dipping sauces! YUMMM! I loved it! Service was a little slow and absent in the beginning... but it got better as the evening went on. And our server was super sweet and personable! :) Overall, if you're looking for a nice, special (somewhat pricey) place for dinner in Portland, this is a good choice.

2.5 stars. Andina tries really hard. It's an upscale ethnic restaurant owned by a white man. That sentence tells you more than any review could. Columbusing at its finest. Literally. K, this is gonna sound whiney, so read it in a valley girl accent: So, the hostesses were open-mouthed basics who ignored my father when he went to check-in for our reservation and again when he went to get his coat back at the end of our meal. They are probably the worst thing about Andina. Our table was downstairs in their dark, cold and windowless basement. We didn't see our waitress for a while and started doubting we had one. I am all about extravagance when what you're consuming is actually extravagant. My $11 Pisco Sour was the single ugliest cocktail I've ever seen. It was a grey foamy mess with a smudged design fail on the top of it. It's a Peruvian restaurant and you're going to want to order one, but trust me-- just get wine. Their wine is actually really good. The cebiche and tabule de quinoa were tasty, but not extravagant. The pavo novoandino (their Thanksgiving plate) was fine, but the turkey tasted exactly like Jennie-O and even had the same texture. Pink sludge? Also not extravagant. The dessert plate I ordered arrived to me with melted ice-cream on a plate (womp womp) and although it was satisfying, (are you catching onto this?) it was not extravagant. Did the people who think Voodoo Doughnuts is the best thing about Portland all review Andina for it to have such high reviews? I am so confused. If my family had given me an earlier notice, I would have gladly gotten us reservations for a Clarklewis thanksgiving. Alas, they had sold out. Andina's tasting menu did not meet expectations nor did it match the price. *FARTING NOISE* ^what I think about Andina. ^^yes, that was necessary.

This place is ridiculous! For me, stars are for food taste, food selection, service, ambience, and value. This had all five which together equalled an incredible experience! It was my wife and I first anniversary and they treated us like kings with a seat looking out the window to the city and a special dessert plate with a congratulations written in chocolate. The waiters knew their menu very well and gave great recommendations, and the owner even greeted us and made us feel like family. I eat a lot, but this ranks as one of my favorite dining experiences so far.

So this was a nice place. We are very familiar with tapas -- this was a Peruvian take on that concept. On the expensive side, Not on the very tasty side. Good sangria. Service was fine. Fun depending on where you get seated -- not so fun at the bottom of stairs on the lower level. I've had way better tapas at a fraction of the cost.

fancy. special occasion worthy. delicious tapas - traditional and spin-off. great service. pricy. you won't be disappointed with andina, thats for sure. but this isnt a place i would go 'just for a meal.' you will see a lot of birthday celebrations here, etc. but definitely worth a visit for some delectable foodie cuisine and to say you are experienced it :) my favorite item by fav was their traditional ceviche: *cebiche DE PESCADO "5 ELEMENTOS" * our iconic preparation of fresh fish in leche de tigre goodness...it was just outstanding. i would have opted to get a large of that and skip one of the other items selected. such fresh fish, amazing flavor. *SOLTERITO Yukon Gold potato with a salad of green beans, fresh corn, cotija cheese and tomatoes beautiful presentation, chilled, and quite refreshing *ANTICUCHO DE PULPO grilled octopus kebobs with chimichurri and a caper majado de papa i just love octopus now :) giant tentacles, well-cooked and rich in flavor. beautiful as well. *MUSCIAME DE ATÚN thinly-sliced cured tuna loin with chimichurri and an avocado-tomato majado sigh...i will admit this was massively my fault as i didnt really know what we order. tuna jerky. high ocean flavor. major pass for me. there were soooo many other items on the menu and as a girl who loves tuna sashimi, this was just a let down. me no like tuna jerky. if you do, by all means! our server was an absolute doll. VERY knowledgable and enthusiastic about the menu. classic portlander...and i just loved how she mentioned a special fish of the day and its notable factor of being rich in Omega-3s :] even though we passed on dessert... she had out table brought a few small dessert bites "for later." later ended up being right then, and they were simply lovely. overall, wonderful experience. this spot in the pearl distict is definitely worth of its praise and will ensure a special and delectable experience. oh, and definitely get reservations! you dont have to book super in advance...but my original plan for Fri or Sat around 7pm was no longer available a week prior. thought sunday night seems to be wide open (thought still packed when you arrive!) So if you want a peek night, secure at least a few weeks in advance..open table makes it very easy.

This was the best meal I had during my visit to Portland. Lamb was fall off the bone tender. Al dente rice was cooked perfectly. Duck was heavenly!! Like. close my eyes to enjoy it was so good. The pisco sour was great but I could've passed on the "sexay woman" though. It was a bit too sweet for my taste. The cannoli was a balance of sweet of the cannoli and tart of the ice cream and sauce. The perfect end to the best meal of my trip. Don't forget to make a reservation!

Food was SO amazing! This is one of those places that you hear about from your friends all the time, you have it bookmarked, but you're just too "busy" to pay this place a visit. Time to get your act together pal because if you've never been here, you're missing out, big time. My partner and I came here for happy hour. I ordered a Ron-Yki-On (ginger rum with grapefruit juice, lime, and cane sugar) and it was so so so good. If you like ginger, this is the cocktail for you. You can taste the ginger but it's super-gentle-mild spicy. Food wise we ordered a grilled beef heart, grilled octopus, half a dozen oysters, and a plate of chorizo. The quiona bread came first with three dipping sauces ranging from mild to spicy. Mild was a cilantro peanut sauce, medium was passion fruit, and hot was some sort of salsa verde (it was green). My favorite was the cilantro peanut sauce because it was creamy, nutty, with a hint of spice. Bread was warm and so very soft. The oysters were fresh. We got three different kinds and each region had its distinct flavor. The chorizo was mild in heat and flavor. The grilled beef heart and the octopus were the bomb! The heart was chewy but well marinaded. The protein married beautifully with the orange colored salsa de rocoto. The octopus was tender and the chimichurri and roasted pepper, ahh...I was so wanting another plate. This was no doubt one of the best meals I've had in Portland.

The food was pretty good. We had the 2 for $49 seafood platter. We didn't know if it would be enough for the two of us so we asked the waiter. He said it would be plenty for the two of us but in the end we were left wanting more food. The waiter was very misleading and it kinda ruined our date night

Great location, friendly service, and enjoyable ambience. We enjoyed our cocktails and looked forward to a fun birthday dinner up until the food arrived. We sampled a total of six dishes for my seafood-loving boyfriend and myself (vegetarian). Do try the yucca croquettes-- really delicious. Very pleasing to vegetarians and meat eaters alike. Quinoa - nothing special. As someone who consumes quinoa by the bushel I expected something more special, flavorful, and sophisticated from an upscale Peruvian restaurant. Asparagus - underseasoned. Seafood wontons: My boyfriend was not pleased with the nondescript flavors enveloped within a greasy pouch. Scallop - small tapa was ONE scallop hidden beneath a haystack of fried garnish. Lacked sophistication and simply overpriced. We made the most of our evening enjoying the drinks, live music, and charming setting. The servers are pleasantly friendly and attentive. They have what is clearly a very efficient system getting customers in and out and food to the tables reasonably quickly. Unfortunately the food is prepared and served as if it's generated by a factory - prepared promptly for the masses, but lacking in proper seasoning and execution.

There's so much to write about because we ordered so much but this place is definitely worth it for their food and live music. We made reservations so we were seated on the third floor, but there were walk in areas on the first and second but don't think they had live music. Plus upstairs is more quiet and low key. The food was excellent! We got almost 8 different things and 6+ drinks. The drinks were good and the alcohol was generous that night. Personally j got the gin w/ the juice mix and the horchata w/ rum (idk their full names or what was in them but you'll find out). The drinks were great. The food was even better.. We ordered from the left side only and shared each plate; tapa? We got yukas, empanadas, ceviche-two kinds, tartar and some other things. The best dish of the night was definitely the diver scallops with brown sugar and fried onions. I'll upload a picture and you can see how great it is. WS by far the favorite and that was after we were full off the other plates. Eat this while you're hungry and you'll want second or thirds. Definitely try this place and the waiters know their stuff and how to pronounce everything (unlike our table).

Amazing!!! Ambiance is delightful (love the copper-topped tables and the play of light). Staff is attentive. Food is IMPECCABLE! Manager came by to answer a question. Owner stopped by to share stories of Peru (my husband lived in Peru for several years). A little pricey but truly a very SPECIAL place.

I wish I could give this review in categories but 2.5-3 stars would sum up my experience at Andina. Here is a breakdown: - the service was topnotch, and our waiter was absolutely wonderful, especially with the face that he was dealing with a "special dietary needs" table. He worked hard to accommodate us, and that is worth 5 stars. -the mother of the owner came to our table to check in (she checked on every table) and I thought that was fabulous. 5 stars. - the atmosphere was bustling, although too loud for me. Still, it felt like a really "happening" place, so I was excited about the food. 3 stars. - the food was below average, maybe 2-2.5 stars. Not very flavorful or imaginative. The soup of the day was good, as were the Yucca fries. My starter plate was fairly tasty (beets) but for $14, I think I had less than fifty cents worth of beets on my plate. The Quionotto plate was very bland and disappointing. The dessert was probably the best part of the meal. - seats: my chair was a solid wood chair, and while i usually prefer a firm surface to sit on, my butt was aching by the end of the meal. 1 star. Would I go back? Maybe if others wanted to go, I could figure out an adequate meal, and make sure I sit in the booth! But overall, I found it overpriced for the quality and flavor of the food.

4.5 stars. Great food, great service, cute/romantic/datenight type of vibe. Andina is my favorite restaurant in Portland... so far, but it will be pretty difficult to beat. First off, MAKE A RESERVATION! This place is busy busy busy every single night! They have two separate rooms, one for reservations and one for walk-ins. The walk in area is where the bar is and they have a few booths and plenty of tables there. All of the times that I've been here, I've sat by the bar. I love it because they have live music! Ok, now the food. I only order the tapas here and ceviche. Tapas is one of the best things ever because you get to try different kinds of dishes without getting too full. Perfect for people like me who are indecisive and can't choose what to order. So you order all. :) The first time I came here, my bf and I ordered 3-4 medium sized portions and 1 ceviche. This was a perfect amount of food because I left feeling full, but not completely bloated. They give you bread with 3 different kind of salsas. I forgot the mild one, but the medium spicy was a passion fruit salsa, and the spicy was a jalapeno salsa. I can't eat very spicy foods, medium at most... and these salsas were nowhere near medium! The jalapeno salsa only had a kick to it. I only liked the bread with the jalapeno dip. The passion fruit was way too sweet for bread. Here are all the dishes that I've tried: Empanadas de Carne -- BEST EMPANADAS IN THE WHOLE WIDE WORLD. Ok, maybe not the whole world... but seriously best empanadas I've ever had!!!! The meat is so perfectly seasoned. But get this, they put POWDERED SUGAR on top. Squeeze a little bit of lime juice inside and you're good to go. Man, this dish is to die for. I would come back just for the empanadas. Medium sized comes with 4 empanadas. Picadillo Acebichado - Filet mignon tartare. Pretty tasty, but I've had better. Also, a small portion for the "medium" sized Palta Rellena de Cangrejo - Mmmm, the topping is good! Nothing really interesting, but good. The whole avocado was a little over the top for me. Anticucho de Corazon - SO JUICY. So FLAVORFUL! Everything I could want in a beef heart and more. Love the sauce that comes with it too! :) Anticucho de Pulpo - YUM!!! Grilled octopus!!! Cooked just right -- not too chewy. Seasoned to perfection. Mixta Nikkei - Yum, this dish was delicious too. Interesting taste! Ceviche 5 Elementos - Love this kind of ceviche. Fresh fish!! It comes with sweet potato & corn and you're supposed to mix it in with the fish. I've never had sweet potato & corn with ceviche before, but I don't think I'll ever eat ceviche again without it! Also, it has a small kick of spiciness to it. Definitely coming back here again sometime soon and another time after that...

The food was absolutely delicious. I had the Lomo Saltado, the beef was so tender and soft full of taste. The potatoes were crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. Everything was spectacular, including the 3 sauces and bread they bring you. One was a peanut sauce, another was a passion fruit sauce and the third was a mint sauce. Great atmosphere, very nice staff.

The bf and I celebrated our most recent anniversary here and we were not disappointed. The restaurant itself is beautiful. We were seated downstairs and they allowed us to move from the middle to a more intimate located on the side. Service was pristine. Our waiter was knowledgable, friendly, and on top of things. For food, we started with the marinated beef hearts which was probably our favorite dish of the night, we should've gotten the large order rather than the small. The hearts were well seasoned and tender. We also tried the calamari as well as the scallops. I loved the scallops, the the large scallops, smoky, and went perfectly with the onion strings on top. We also ordered two entrees, the duck dish as well as the lamb shank. The duck was medium well, super flavorful while the lamb shank was fall off the bone tender. However, I have to say the tapas definitely outshone the entrees in the flavor department. Next time, I would just stick with trying out different tapas. For dessert, we had creme brulee which was beautifully presented w/ a happy anniversary message written on the dish. Sweet end to a sweet night.

If I could, I would rate Andina as 3 1/2 stars. We stopped by on a Saturday night, and the place was packed. It doesn't look too big from the outside, but there are multiple rooms and levels. I would recommend making a reservation, though. We ended up having: Bread: this was served on a large, round wooden block, and came with three dipping sauces at varying levels of heat. Salad: this was good, with hearts of palm, asparagus and cotija cheese. Tortilla de patata: can't go wrong with potatoes layered with egg. Seafood platter: mussels, oysters (good), scallop and octopus crevice (octopus was very tender), and shrimp. This was just ok to me (should have went with the waiter's recommendation for the seafood and rice dish). Arroz con leche: dessert wasn't bad, but I didn't like the texture of the fruit compote. Our server was attentive, and the food servers gave good descriptions of the food being served. I would come back again if I am in town and try out some of the other dishes.

Super service - they accommodated me on a short notice on New Year's day plus our server had some really good suggestions. Terrific cocktails, as usual. The fish ceviche was a delicious new discovery. The arroz con pato was a little more medium-well than medium-rare, but overall still my favorite dining place in Rose City.

It had been a year since we came back from our amazing South American trip so we decided to celebrate it by visiting one of the best Peruvian restaurants in North America, and it did not disappoint us! We splurged a bit and ordered a bunch of sea food tapas. Yum!! The service was professional and made us feel well taken care of. Great date night :)

A proper end to our holiday stay in Portland, this meal will be remembered. True rating: 4.5 stars. ***CEBICHE DE PESCADO "5 ELEMENTOS" - Our iconic preparation of fresh fish in leche de tigre 18. This was one tasty ceviche, with fresh Ono fish, light, white, and absolutely odor free, intertwined with slivers of red onion, all marinated in a proper sauce--lime heavy, with a kick of habanero pepper, cilantro, and some other unidentifiable but delicious elements. Ceviche is difficult to get right, but this was a winner. An exciting start to the meal. ***YUCA RELLENA - Yuca croquetas stuffed with mozzarella and cotija cheese, served over huancaína sauce. I was a bit less enthusiastic about this small dish, which contained two fried sticks of yam. Judging from the fried crunchy exterior and the accompanying cheese whiz sauce, I would have guessed jalapeno poppers. Well, besides the mediocre yuca center, that's basically what it was--not exactly the best match for an upscale place like Andina. I mean, if it's good, it doesn't matter, but in this case it tasted like something made by Kid Cuisine. Save your $12.50 and get something else. ***SECO A LA NORTEÑA - An old family recipe--lamb shank slow-cooked in the Northern Peruvian style, in a rich cilantro-black beer sauce, served with a classic guiso de frijoles, garlic rice and salsa criolla 25. This dish was the belle of the ball, one huge lamb shank, so soft that an infant could tear into its tender flesh. The sauce was mild in spice and flavor, but was everything it needed to be, and perfect with the fantastic oily garlic rice and delightfully tender black beans. It was seriously one majorly marble piece of lamb leg, the kind I dream of. The best part? Of course sucking the fatty chunks of marrow from the long leg-bones. Oh the memory makes me weep... ***ENCANTO DE ICA - Traditional red wine-caramel flan, served with baked Zamorano cheese, paprika-dusted Brazil nuts, and cinnamon-grape sorbet. Up there with this flan I had one time in Mexico as pretty much the best you can find anywhere. Extremely creamy and perfectly thick, with the red wine-caramel sauce offering a beautiful contrast. However, it was really its pairing with the tantalizingly light cinnamon-grape sorbet that took everything to the next level, and the crunch of those little Brazil nuts for the perfect blastoff. One of the best desserts I've ever consumed. ***EL CLÁSICO - A traditional colonial dessert; maiz morada pudding paired with delicate arroz con leche, coconut brittle and seasonal fruit. Slightly less mindblowing than the flan, we found the arroz con leche a bit dry, and no flavor in particular stood out. I guess the maize morada pudding was integrated therein, for I remember a kernel here or there, but I would have much preferred a creamy pudding on the side. Coconut brittle was nice was unmemorable, seasonal fruit was kinda interesting but not super developed. I tasted some pineapple chunks in there I think. ALL IN ALL: In a week of culinary adventure in Portland, Andina was easily our most favorable experience. Wish we could have tried more tapas dishes (maybe next time), but I was extremely satisfied with our other selections.

I'm writing this because I like this place. The food is interesting and our waitress was really nice and helpful. But for a restaurant of this calibre (and price point) there is some definite room for improvement. I'm moving to Portland so I really want to see this place get to where it should be. First, there is no bar to sit at when you wait. And you do wait. That's a problem and one that needs to be solved. Second, we were finishing our drinks and apps when we were told that our plates needed to be cleared for the next course. We were not done and had no wine on order and here came the mains! Lastly, everyone around us got a yummy bread with sauces but we did not. Now, the food was decent, drinks yummy and our server was super nice. But management needs to act like they are running a top notch place. Which they could easily be.

Good! Went with a group of 20 for business and the service was right on. However, if you aren't into trying new things, find another spot for dinner. The soups and salads were great and full of flavor. Several people got the appetizers, including the ceviche and said it was great. Everyone enjoyed their meals and the desert was the highlight. They have ever changing deserts and I can see why, so much flavor and fresh ingredients. Would visit again!

This was my first experience with Peruvian food, and it topped the list of my best eating experiences of all time! We were seated promptly at our reservation time and led to cute table at the edge of the room. We were a bit close to our neighbors for my taste, but seeing as everyone wants to eat here, I understand packing as many tables in as possible to accommodate everyone! Our server was extremely knowledgeable and friendly, and even advised we get fewer dishes than we asked for (we went ahead and ordered the extra tapa anyway - we came hungry and prepared). The hardest part was deciding what we didn't want to get! For cocktails, the mojito de pina was outstanding and not overly sweet or pineapple flavored. The sacsayhuaman was delicious and complex, and the margarita de manzanita was like drinking a chilled apple pie cocktail. The wine list was tempting as well, but I'm so glad we went for cocktails, as they are some of the best I've ever had. I can't dwell on the food for too long without drooling, but the morada particularly stood out as being wonderful, as well as the crab-stuffed avocado. Everything we ordered was unbelievably tasty, and everyone around us seemed happy with what they were ordering as well. We WILL be back, but the only thing keeping us away is that it would break the bank to go back too soon! An extra note on the service - our waiter asked if we were there for a special occasion, (it was for an anniversary), and served up a beautiful dessert reading "Happy Anniversary!" Great extra effort on his part, and made for a sweet touch to a romantic evening!

So expensive, only go here on special occasions. The food and service was great. I loved the ambiance, and the new room they opened up was quieter than the rest of the place which I liked.

FANTASTIC Peruvian food. One of the best bites I had on the West Coast in a long time. The Lomo Saltido here was just one of the most satisfying dishes I ever had. The beef was perfectly sautéed, the rice was fluffy and salty, and the fries just added great texture and crunch. I can eat this every day. As for the ceviches, all the different flavors here were so good. The spicy, the tangy, and that fresh fish. AWESOME. Best part of all this, is that the whole mean was full of fresh vegetables and produce. You get a ton of that green, red, and yellow in each bite, which you know is good for you. It is like you are absorbing all the goodness of the earth while having fantastic food. It's feast for a king here. No hyperbole here.

I would go 3.5 if I could. So the location is awesome and this is a great place to be "seen" if you're into that. However - it's loud and a little (okay a lot) over priced. The band is good but way to loud in the bar. The shared tapas are good if you want to spend $12.50 for 3 bites. I suggest going on an off night after dinner for an appetizer only. With all that said the drink sacsaywomen gets a star all to itself. Spicy but sweet - I demand you try it.

Average food, (below) average drinks. It's not the most interesting menu there, the flavors aren't super strong, and the portion sizes are small for the price. Everything is served tapas style with 3 sizes. The biggest issue is that it means that a small serving of yuca croquettes with cheese (which taste like mediocre cheese fries) costs the same as a grilled diver scallop. Their drinks are fine, but a little expensive for the quality. They seem to be a little behind the times in terms of what other bars in the city are doing.

Finally continuing on my Portland journey, my friend and I came here for Happy Hour on a very rainy afternoon. Despite being full from brunch, we were on a mission to stuff ourselves with food and happiness. The HH menu wasn't too extensive, but we ordered enough to be satisfied. Went with all the grilled meats (anticuchos) of chicken, beef heart, and octopus. All very, very delicious. Having never had a pisco sour, I decided to try one and though not my favorite cocktail after having tried it, it was decent, light and not too sweet. My friend got two glasses of red wine and she also seemed pretty happy. So we didn't eat that much, but I'd definitely pay this place a visit again to try the full menu. Service was great (our waiter asked around the waitstaff and tried to give us a few tips on activities to do in the evening), ambiance was nice, and food was delectable.

Love the food Even though the server was kinda slow. Had to wait for almost 1 and a half hour to get my food. I guess it takes awhile to cook the food. I had the chicken and purple Salad, and it was delicious. But the music = love it! Nice live music in the restaurant. Very romantic, positive loving vibe!

Ordered five different tapas. Best I've ever had. I grew up eating South American cuisine cooked by many generations of my people, have traveled to Spain and had what I thought were the best tapas, and then... there was Andina--which put my Spain and my people to shame. Best tapas I've ever had and maybe the best restaurant I've ever been. Everything from the taste, creativity, and overall vibe of this place was perfect. Definitely a must if in Portland. Make sure to make a reservation.

I usually gauge a good restaurant by their more exotic dishes, especially the duck and lamb. They are both hard meats to prepare. If done correctly, it is fabulous. They are gamey meats and if overdone or flavors aren't correct, it can be a disaster. My husband and I went there for our 34th anniversary dinner. I had the duck and my husband had the lamb. They both were fantastic dishes done perfectly with great flavor. Presentation was wonderful as well. An added touch that made our experience memorable was when Doris, one of the owners, stopped by to welcome us and wish us a happy anniversary. As her custom to welcome all of her patrons. It was a very nice experience and definitely will be back.

Very disappointing! I guess my husband and I shouldn't have had such high expectations because Andina fell terribly short for the price point, the wait for the food and the quality of the food was unacceptable. Almost two hours at this place and we are finally able to pay/close out. Pork loin was raw in the middle, the accompanying lamb ragout tasted like canned cat food. The $20 ceviche was so acidic and terrible that we had to send it back. Oh and it looks like we are getting two mini Alfajores to go, to make up for the exceedingly long wait for food, which is nice but really doesn't make up for the lackluster experience. Really sad about this one as we had been looking forward to trying this place out for weeks.

Out of pure desire for creme brulee we stopped in Andinas while in PDX. The pricing is definitely above what we usually like to spend, but the food was absolutely amazing! Plus They are super accommodating to people with gluten allergies, they have an entire full GF menu! And when others are munching on fresh crusty bread for an appetizer they give us GF peeps the most delicious fried Yukon potatoes! Will definitely be back!

Outstanding little gem of a restaurant. We had the octopus (amazing), stuff avocado with crab, asparagus, breaded chicken, and bay scallops (not good). Service was great...and the food came out quickly. I highly recommend this joint!

Located in the Pearl District and 9th avenue, Andina is in a happening part of Portland and promises an array of mouth watering Peruvian and Spanish inspired fare in tapas sized plates. It's so prettily decorated from the inside and they've got live music on the weekend evenings. Their menu is pretty broad and they've got a separate one for vegetarians which I love. The drinks were great and the tapas which really stuck out were the yucca sticks with mozzarella on a bed of cheesy sauce, the chicken Kebobs, the avocado cups stuffed with crab and shrimp and the creme brûlée dessert sampler. It is one of the most popular food joints in P'land and hence gets packed full, so make reservations or put yourself on the wait list ahead of time. While you wait for a text to say your table is ready, there's plenty to do in the neighborhood such a enjoy walking around Powell's city of Books located a few blocks down.

What a cute place! So homey especially because the owner comes around to greet you after your meal. She's a sweetheart! The meal: The sexy woman drink is a must get. Spicy and sweet and perfect. The sangria is very good and recommended. The beef hearts are delicious. You wouldn't be able to tell they were hearts if they didn't tell you so don't fear. The ceviche was fresh and I liked that they allowed you to mix in your own ingredients. The stuffed bell peppers with quinoa were good but try something else if you can't decide between a couple dishes. The lomo Saltado was done well although I would have liked the fries to be mixed in with the gravy. The best part was the lamb chops and they melted in my mouth and were seasoned perfectly. The creme brûlée trio was good and an interested twist to the typical flavors. Good way to end the meal.

I can only hope that the next time I visit andina that I will get the same perfect combination of happiness, surprise and satiety. Although this was will be a special occasion type of restaurant due to the cost, I assure you that you can't walk out of this place feeling anything less than blissfully content if you get the same food as what we ordered. I don't have the literary talents to accurately depict the experience we had that give it justice. There was nothing we got that was less satisfying than another plate. Just different. Palta rellena de cangrejo, conchas a la parrilla, empanada, and bistsec novoandino were all excellent and will be re-ordered again. Cocktails were a great compliment.

Best meal I have had in the past year. Our party of four ordered 7 tapas, sangria, and mojitos. Total bill didn't even top 60pp with tip. I'm not sure how that is possible considering the quality of the food, atmosphere and service. I'm blown away. Highly recommend the "avocado, crab and prawn" dish.

Andina is the definition of a hotspot. It was full of life on a Saturday night. My friends and I joked that they'd probably seat us in the dungeon (darker area downstairs), since we were disheveled from a long day of tourist activities, and they don't want no scrubs mingling with the fashionable crowd. Apparently, they don't care. It seems that in Portland, even posh restaurants are indifferent to what you wear, whether it's Tom Ford or thrift shop. We were seated at one of the prime spots by the large windows, highly visible to anyone walking by on the street. Dumbfounded. They start you off with bread and three dipping sauces. If you have a gluten allergy, or if you're just greedy like us, you can request yucca fries. Mmm. The tapas are definitely the stars on the menu. We shared the shrimp and crab stuffed avocado and the fried cheese croquettes. Solid start. The entrees, however, weren't worth the price . My scallops were rubbery. Extra large in size, but no big taste to match. The duck was stringy and tough to chew. So, funny story. My friend was chugging water and complaining about how spicy her cilantro rice was, when everyone else who tried it thought it was fine. Even me, the girl who refuses to eat hot Cheetos. Our waiter brought a side of steamed rice instead. Turns out, it was the pickled onions that were destroying her. The cilantro rice was not spicy AT ALL. Our waiter probably thought we were loco... Stick to the tapas when you dine here, and it should be a great meal.

The food at this establishment was amazing! We didn't have reservations and they still allowed us to dine. We ordered 3 dishes and they were all very good (mixta nikkei, empanadas de tres tipos, and palta rellena de cangrejo) and the servers were all very nice. I would definitely come back here and will be thinking about it until I do!

Winner winner chicken dinner! ... Wait, I didn't even have any chicken here. This place is BOMB DOT COM. Seriously, I came here and didn't know what to do because I looked at the menu and immediately wanted to face plant into it. Everything looked amazing and they have so. many. dishes. It's definitely difficult to choose. This place is really lively, they have a more ... "younger hip" area, and they also have a nice dining room area with white table clothes. Mind you, I got into this place with flip flops and shorts so ... dress how you want? I ended up getting some beef heart, some octopus grilled, and a lot of their peruvian specialties which came with quinoa and other ancient grains. Everything seriously was top notch. There wasn't a single tapas dish where I was like ... meh ... its aight. The only thing is that their sangria is NOT potent ... lies! But it was delicious regardless. Highly recommended, amazing food, great staff, fun ambiance!

The food was excellent, but we were quite disappointed in the service. We started with the flavorful asparagus in chimichurri sauce and delicious chicken kabobs. Our favorite dish was the potato purée with crab salad and tuna sashimi. The 5 elementos ceviche was okay. Our final dish, the lamb shack, was delicious, but took forever to come out (I suspect they forgot to put the order in). The waitress brought the dessert menu, but forgot to take our orders. Overall, a pretty lousy experience service wise, though the food met our high expectations.

Casual to dressy attire. I usually try to eat here once if I'm staying in or driving through Portland. It's not the cheapest lunch or dinner though. I love the tapas style menu and variety of dishes. Andina has consistently, perfectly cooked octopus. They somehow make it so soft. I've learned to just get a pitcher/carafe of the sangria, instead of ordering by the glass, because it's delicious and more bang for your buck. They also take reservations.

After trying out Andina on my one day in Portland, I was thoroughly, thoroughly, impressed. Either Andina was seriously Portland's best put forward, or I have been sorely mistaken in thinking that New York rules the food scene. Service, drinks and food were all delicious, and complimentary bites for dessert (and throughout the meal from the chef) didnt hurt. Our seating in the indoor "courtyard" retained aspects of the lively atmosphere of the restaurant, while still affording conversation at a normal level. My only regret is that I only managed to try half of the Tapas - will certainly make it a point to return during my next visit to the Pacific northwest!

Went to Andina for the special thanksgiving meal. Though I loved are starters and small plates. Both my wife and I ordered the turkey dinner. Neither one of us liked it. Found it the turkey very dry. My sons lamb chops were awesome and my daughters Saltado was solid. Was looking for more with all the hype

Highlight of my Portland trip. Amazingly nice and attentive staff. We had an all tapas meal and i could not have been happier: 1. Beef empanadas- well balanced with a little sweet, savory and tangy from the side veggies that came with it 2. ceviche "mixto chorrillano"- Fresh, light, and appetizing. 3. Anticucho de pulpo (grilled octopus) - it was tender and flavorful. I can still remember the happiness eating this...sigh 4. picadillo acebichado (Filet mignon tartare) - rare ground meat. If you get this dish, don't eat it with ceviche. I think the freshness and tart of the ceviche made my mouth insensitive to the smooth and richness of the meat. Still an interesting dish though 5. DESSERT- Plato de crema (three mini creme brulee pots) OH SO GOOD Overall: pleasant meal with beautiful flavors, simplistic presentation and great service. What's not to love?

So many good things to say about Andina--from our server, David, to the amazing food quality and presentation, to the beautiful decor of the restaurant! We loved David from the very first second. He had a warm and energetic personality. His self-confidence practically oozed as he made polite recommendations because we were completely new to Peruvian food and had never ordered tapas before. Everything we ordered from the tapas section of the menu was perfectly prepared and simply delicious. The presentation of each plate blew our minds away. And despite the obviously fancy character of Andina, David never once allowed us to feel like we did not belong there. He even loved that we slurped the remaining sauce in our dishes of grilled scallops. We felt completely comfortable here. We also loved how all the other staff made sure our water glasses were kept full and used plates were promptly removed. Love the teamwork and camaraderie among the staff! Thank you, Andina, for making our first visit here absolutely memorable. We loved our Xmas Eve meal. :)

We stopped in here for happy hour, our last Portland stop before heading back home to the Bay Area. My husband ordered a mojito, which he said hit the spot. Bread comes with three amazing sauces, the peanut based one being my personal favorite. We ordered the small beef heart kabob plate and a medium sized order of the grilled octopus (we weren't terribly hungry; just wanted to try this place before leaving). The beef heart was lean (as you expect of beef heart), tender, and flavorful. The grilled octopus was ... AMAZING! Very tender, grilled to perfection! The bed of mashed potatoes was scrumptious as well ... Will definitely order this dish again! I wish there was more variety to their happy hour menu and prices, but other than that, this place is what I'm learning is the heart of the Pearl district. Great location, great atmosphere, good high priced food!

Make reservations a few days in advance for best seating time/options! Put this on your bucket list if you have yet to experience one of Portland's finest restaurants. Don't visit here hoping to escape with a minimal tab by ordering cheap plates. I highly recommend you set your wallet to "make it rain" and prepare your taste buds to indulge upon the many peruvian inspired dishes. Signature cocktails were elegantly handcrafted, not even James Bond would order his classic martini until he plowed through a couple of these puppies. Sharing with a friend is a plus because you can maximize your drink options. Can't go wrong with anything on the menu here. When you visit you will see that the whole restaurant operates on a very cohesive level. All staff are highly vested in creating a wonderful experience from the chefs kitchen to your table.

The service was great as was the atmosphere, but the food just didn't do it for me. We started with the Spanish tortilla and octopus skewers. Both of which were just OK. Also, at $22 for potato and egg, I was expecting more. Same for the octopus - $22 for two skewers? I ordered the duck which was actually pretty good. Unfortunately it came on top of a sauce that was overly sour and did nothing to compliment the duck. My wife ordered the quinoa risotto which was more like a pilaf. Another member of our party ordered this and was also disappointed. I wouldn't be in a rush to get back here.

We celebrated my husband's birthday here. We had been planning to check out Andina for a while, but it was impossible to make reservations at a short notice (2-3 days). So for my husband's birthday, I made reservations a month in advance. This place was PACKED even on a Tuesday night!! The food here was fantastic! We are both vegetarians and really loved our options! It was a little bland per my expectations, but my husband loved every bit of it! We appreciated how they split the entrees in different plates, once the server knew we were sharing. Service was fantastic! The reason for a 4 star review is I wrote in the special notes section that we were there to celebrate my husband's birthday. I was expecting a table with a view or a separate booth. We were given a cramped little table in a shared space where the couple next to us was less than a foot away! That threw us off a little. I was expecting for them to make an effort to celebrate/acknowledge a birthday. ( I'm sure there must be plenty like us who go to Andina to celebrate special occasions, so I see their side of it as well) Besides that, we had an awesome dinner from start till end! We will definitely go back again! But not for special occasions, just on regular dinner outings :)

Flew up to Portland to meet up with a friend from Seattle. Andina was rated number one in Portland on Trip Advisor and the reviews were pretty much stellar. I was able to get a late night reservation on Easter Sunday. All the positives: the staff were gracious and professional; the location is small, but bright; menu had so many options and, a classy touch, they have a separate menu that is strictly vegetarian and vegan- my friend is vegetarian and appreciated not having to hunt through a menu of dishes she can not eat; food came out quickly and was delicious and flavorful; they called us a cab and kept checking to make sure that it came. A few little things: the soup was delicious, but lukewarm - would have loved it if it had been hotter; it was definitely louder than I expected, but not because people were loud, it was just the type of room where voices resonate a bit louder; the bread was ciabatta, I would have preferred some fried yucca to dip into the three sauces they brought out over Italian bread in a Peruvian restaurant; I ordered the scallops that were resting on a reductions of beet and passion fruit - unfortunately, the beet reduction was dried out and stuck to the plate, so you couldn't really taste it. I would definitely recommend this spot to anyone hitting up Portland looking for a tasty meal. Note- we had just come from a day at the spa, so we passed on libations and dessert- but they all looked delicious!

Marvelous sensational phenomenal exquisite a must try! I was so impressed with the service, the ambiance, oh and of course the food! Drinks were fresh and unique. This place is phenomenal. Let me lay this out for you. I came here at 5pm for my birthday dinner, on a Thursday, and I made reservations. I was glad I did, since it was packed by 6pm. Despite it being packed, however, the service was spectacular. I believe our server's name was Dustin, and he was amazing. He ran us through all the specials, told us what the fish of the day was in certain dishes where it wasn't specified, helped with the wine and cocktails and even the dessert menu. There was no question to ask since he answered all the questions I didn't know I had. I ended up ordering the 'Sacsauhuaman' which was a little bit of a spicy cocktail, but the server put in an order for them to make it mildly spicy and it was almost too much for me still. Still, it was delicious and I drank the whole thing. The sugared rim helped cut the spice. For my meal I skipped the tapas plates, which me and my mother sorta regretted doing. The next time we come back, we'll probably do the tapas. There was complimentary bread and three different kinds of salsa, a peanut salsa, a mango salsa that was pretty spicy, and a japaleno mint, for the table, all of which were absolutely delicious. But after we polished that off, we kinda wanted more. But alas, we had already ordered our entrees. When the entrees came, they were a nice size, not too overwhelmingly big and not too small. Just right. I had the Seco a la Nortena which is a lamb shank that's been slow roasted. It was incredible. There was a garlic rice, some sort of beans, and a mildly spicy salsa on top. I devoured that. My mother had the Carapulcra con Puerco that is a pork chop stuffed with cheese and served on this bed of potatoes that I wanted to eat for myself. We ordered dessert and my mother had the Canutos de Quinua y Maracuya, which were quinoa cannoli that she absolutely loved and devoured. I ordered the Mousse de Valle y Selva, which was a layered mousse with an espresso shortbread cookie. It took all my willpower not to lick the glass it was served in, clean. And since my mother had said it was my birthday, in passing to the server, a very cute blonde girl came up from behind us with the dessert and there was a candle in the middle of my mousse with 'Feliz Cumpleanos' written in chocolate on the plate. My mother said she had a big smile on her face like she was excited to surprise me with the special dessert. This waitress even wished me a happy birthday as we left the restaurant. Oh, and did I mention they comped my birthday dessert? Yeah. That was a bonus surprise. I loved every minute of Andina. I want to go back there tomorrow. And the day after. And the day after that.

Amazing is the best word for this restaurant. The food was wonderful and the staff was exceptional. I can't wait to go back and try more food. We had an array of tapas and a main meal. I had the scallops that were to die for. Also I recommend if you drink to try the piña colada it is made with fresh coconut milk it's wonderful. I'll Be back soon

Fantastic service, great vibe, colorful, and great presentation of food. There was live music on the Sunday evening we went on. My Moscow Mule-like drink was delish. Get the ceviche which comes with a mini corn on the cob, a sweet potato, etc. The trio of colorful sauces that are complimentary like the bread were delicious. The fried shrimp was also delicious.

Sometimes you hear about a great place and put off going to it for no good reason. Man, I feel dumb for not going sooner. Andina, I love you. We went for a few small plates of tapas and some wine after a long day of traveling. My shoulders were still aching from driving, but I was completely distracted by how happy my tastebuds were. It was Sunday evening and we were able to walk in and get a table for two with no reservation. I sincerely doubt that's always possible, but it was this time. ANTICUCHO DE CORAZÓN (marinated beef heart kebobs, served with a spicy salsa de rococo): I would've rather this been a bit more rare, but I like my meat served with the faint echo of a cow's last mooing so I'm a bit outside the curve. PALTA RELLENA DE CANGREJO (avocado stuffed with crab, topped with a poached prawn): Just read the ingredients and you know how good it was. SOLTERITO (Yukon Gold potato with a salad of green beans, fresh corn, cotija cheese and tomatoes): Refreshing is the first thing that comes to mind. Our waiter brought it before the other two, which was just right. We were also brought bread with a variety of spicy dipping sauces. Since our hunger was low, everything was sized just right for two people and honestly quite reasonable in the end. Definitely will go back for a full meal experience.

Oh wow... What a treat!!! I took my love to Andina for his birthday and the whole experience was pretty amazing. Andina had been on my to do list for quite sometime and I was excited to finally go. I had made reservations for 9:30 and requested a booth. We arrived a little early and were seated within a few minutes. We had a nice booth next to the window. The lighting and ambiance were very romantic, I loved it. Our server's name was Emily and she was fantastic. She made the experience even more magical. She went over specials and made suggestions. She brought out some bread with a few different types of sauces. I didn't care for this at all... I thought the bread was really dry and the sauces though unique were just not my cup of tea. Andina is a Peruvian restaurant that is comprised mostly of small plates (tapas). The tapas come in 3 different sizes: small, medium and large. Everything we ordered was in a small and the portions serve 1-2 people. The perfect size to get multiple plates to try a little of everything. My bf and I got 6 small tapas and 1 entree. We ordered the following: Beef Empanadas: These were amazing! Flaky, buttery pastry filled with a delicious savory beef and olive filling, I would get a medium order of these next time. Beef Hearts: These were marinated, grilled and served like kebabs. Very flavorful but a little on the chewy side. Seafood Wontons: Very tasty. The wontons were crispy and had a mixed seafood filling and was served with a sweet and sour type of sauce. Grilled Diver Scallop: This was probably my favorite tapas. A large grilled diver scallop in a tamarind sauce with fried onions on top. Freaking delicious!! The scallop was perfectly cooked and that sauce was just soooo luscious and flavorful. I highly suggest getting a medium Mixta Nikkei: This was okay. Layers of crab, avocado, and potato with tempura prawn on top. Aside from the prawn the rest was rather bland. Our main entree was rack of lamb served with Peruvian potato timbales in a red pepper demi- glacé. I can't even put into words how amazing those potatoes were!! The lamb was perfectly cooked and the sauce complimented everything perfectly. We were extremely full and asked to take dessert to go. We ordered the Chocolate Andino and the Alfajores to go. Even though we too our desserts to go they still brought out some birthday ice cream for my love, complete with candle and message. It was a nice notion and even though we were very full, we somehow found room for that tremendous ice cream. It was a rich chocolate ice cream with bits of cocoa nibs in it. It was sooooo good!! The other desserts were good too but too rich and heavy for my blood. I loved Andina. Service was excellent, good was good and the ambiance was just wonderful. They brought out each dish at the perfect time and everything looked stunning. Though I did think it was rather pricey for what it was, you are paying for the whole experience. 4 1/2 stars if I could. I highly recommend visiting Andina if you are ever in Portland...it is unlike any other restaurant I've ever been to.

My husband made a reservation for us to celebrate my birthday, and it's a good thing he did, because it was packed to the rafters on a Tuesday night. We waited about 10 minutes past our reservation time. Even though they knew it was a special occasion, we got a teeny tiny table in the middle of the room, backed up against a party of 8 or 10. If I had made a drinking game out of how many times the back of my chair got smacked by staff and diners, I wouldn't have been able to walk out of the place. When I asked the server how sweet the sangria was, he brought me a sample before I committed. It tasted like overly sweetened orange juice, so I opted for the "fresh" Malbec, which was very good. Between the two of us, we ordered 5 small plates. We were brought some uninterested bread with some nice dipping sauces. One was sort of garlicky, which went well with the bread. One was made with passion fruit and although delicious, it was better suited atop vanilla bean ice cream. The last was a jalapeño mint concoction that was just odd. Of the five tapas plates, three were delicious - a ceviche, the chicken skewers, and the grilled asparagus with chimichurri. The other two, a chicken salad/potato stack and an avocado stuffed with crab, both tasted like uninspired deli salads. For dessert we received a complimentary dense chocolate cake with a candle in it. It was fantastic. I would have loved a second glass of wine, but our server seemed to have too many tables and didn't offer me another glass until our plates were cleared. I went ahead and ordered, but when it didn't come by the time dessert was presented, I told him to forget about it. If you're comparing Andina to Mediterranean Trading Company, I'd say MTC has a slight edge on food and a big edge on service.

Probably the best and most unique food I have ever tasted. That said, I must admit I was a little nervous after reviewing the menu in the lobby. Not much looked familiar and our son, a notoriously picky eater, was soon to join us. What a wonderful surprise the whole evening turned out to be. From the spicy dipping sauces, to the duck (presented two ways), to Andina's interpretation of creme brûlée (3 sumptuous ways) -- absolutely delicious. Even the the picky-one ate every morsel. It is a large restaurant, however reservations are a must. And don't wait until the last minute, I made ours several days in advance and were lucky to get in. Andina's will definitely be on our must-do list for the next time we visit Portland.

The atmosphere and food here is perfect. Waiters were very attentive but not pushy. They even have wine pro on site to talk to you about the different wines that you may have in mind. They're wine menu is extensive. We ordered one entree and 5 apps...everything was delicious. I forgot the names of the plates....Chicken skewers- was not dry, very juicy. Sweet potatoe salad? that was yummy. Chicken empanada, also good. The soup that my friend orderd was on the salty side. I would definitely come back here!

Andina. I have been reading all about this restaurant months before my trip to Portland. I know I want to come here: lunch, happy hour or dinner or whatever but my request fell into deaf ears... until the last day of my Weekend in Portland and my Yelp friend casually said oh Andina is just down the street and we should go there! Made my reservation via Opentable and 30 minute later, we were studying the menu and try to decide what to eat..... Everything? I have to say Andina's food are just so photogenic! The plating, the use of contrasting ingredients with different texture, the interesting combination of different colours! The taste is as interesting as the food looks!! We shared: Anticucho de pulpo - grilled octopus kebobs w/chimichurri and caper majado de papa ($10.50) Anticucho de corazon - marinated beef heart kebobs w/spicy salsa de rocoto ($10.50) Solterito - Yukon gold potato with green beans, fresh corn, cotija cheese, tomatoes ($10.50) De Pescado "5 Elementos" ($17) Portion though small but they were really tapas dishes and I just love to have a bit of taste of everything! Service here was wonderful from the cheerful hostess that greeted us to the patience/helpful/charming server! I will be back again! Maybe for Happy Hour next time with or without my Yelp friend!

Yum! Great service, great food. Went on a Saturday night to celebrate our anniversary. I had the scallops, husband had steak. The crab stuffed avocado appetizer was great too. It was a little louder than I typically like but we could still converse without screaming.

Fantastic! Food, drinks, atmosphere. We had the diver scallops with brown butter as an app and there were Cooked perfectly. For the main course I had the scallops with parsnip purée (hey, I like scallops) again they were cooked perfect and the presentation was lovely. My husband had the beef with chimmichurri sauce. It was even better than my scallops!! We ordered the chocolate spice ice cream for desert. This was a real treat. I've never had anything like it. A rich, creamy decadent chocolate ice cream that ends in a spicy pepper finish. A little bit goes a long way!

Dinner Review (4.5 stars) -Quick facts- Peruvian restaurant Average $60/person including 2 drinks Tri-level VERY popular Reservation highly recommended (open table available) Tapas + entree style Level of fancy - High, but not snooty Take on Dish: -Bread with 3 house-made salsa (3.5 star): fun salsa with various color and taste -Seafood Platter (5-star); great value for 4 oysters, 6 mussels, scallop ceviche, octopus ceviche, 4 prawns. I absolutely love this dish; if you're adventurous, go for it! -Beef Heart Kabob (5-star); tender and cooked to perfection with their marinade. -Octopus (3.5-star); dull Service: The service was good, but not consistent. There was plenty of time where we waiting for service and our check was billed incorrectly. Overall, I love Andina! It's fancy, but still friendly with outstanding food; definitely a FAN!

This place was pretty good. The food was almost perfect. Our waiter and other wait staff were attentive not not quite perfect. We ordered two tapas - PALTA RELLENA DE CANGREJO & ATÚN FUSIÓN. The shrimp in avocado salad was amazing. The second was a raw tuna (which was amazing) but the sauce on it was overpowering. We ended up scrapping off the sauce to enjoy the sashimi style fish. The main courses we ordered were two different kinds of paella. My paella was the special and it was full of salmon, mussels, scallops, and shrimp. AMAZING. My husbands (ARROZ CON PATO) was a paella of ducks and carrots. His rice, however, was not competely cooked. The drinks were pretty good. I ordered a plane moijto which probably was a mistake considering their menu. My husband said his drinks were so amazing they made the trip to restaurant worth it alone. The service was okay, but could have been better. The hostess were good, and checked our coats for us. We had reservations, but ended up coming two hours earlier due to a closure of our planned activity prior to dinner. Our waiter though seemed very hesitant to make any recommendations. He was very well versed on the specials, but not so great on showing too much attention. For example the removed our silver wear after the small plates, but then only replaced mine for the main course. And despite several attempts to get the attention of ANY waiter after our meal was served, my husband finally ended up grabbing silver wear from the empty table next to us (don't worry we did tell the waiter when he did come back). My water definitely dried out twice. Another server actually took my husband's second drink order because we failed to see waiter for awhile. Also, I did order dessert. I asked for a recommendation here and of course the waiter seemed hesitant. Then he said most people order the MOUSSE DE VALLE Y SELVA. It was okay. I didn't finish it. I think I would have been happier with something else. I noticed the waiters bring out a ton of these out after I ordered mine. Made me think that it's probably the easiest dessert to make AND it's pre-made so the staff are probably told to push it so they can go through it. Overall a good experience. Probably a little overpriced (in my opinion) since the service was mediocre. But the chefs and bar tending staff have got quite a talent making the experience well worth the trip.

Great selection with options of small medium and large plates, perfect for lunch. The salsas were great, the green one was spicy and yummy. The service was fast and pleasant :) a must go.

Making my rounds in Portland to the most raved about restaurants...Andina was a good choice. Service was excellent and food was fresh and well prepared. Fresh bread and a trio of dipping sauces was the beginning of our meal, keeping us at bay as we were starving. The dipping sauces vary in levels of spiciness. The bread was warm and soft! I had the Pescado Al Rocoto Y Kion (roasted fish in smoked pork broth) which was perfectly cooked and seasoned. BF had the special - wagyu beef something. I was so enjoying my dish that I didn't really pay attention to his...and this rarely happens. However, I did have a taste and it was delish! Adnina is a great choice for those who don't want the same ol', same ol'. It's Peruvian ingredients and dishes with a modern twist that will satisfy any palate. Definitely make reservations in advance...they will seat you without a reservation but you will wait a while in a line of people who also didn't make reservations.

Just had another fantastic dining experience at Andina. We had the Yukon purple potatoes with chicken and the avocado stuffed with crab and topped with a prawn. As always presentation is amazing, service is attentive and friendly, and the Peruvian food and flavors are masterful! The wine list is impressive and you can always find something great by the bottle or glass!

My cousin was visiting and chose Andina as one of the restaurants she wanted to go to, especially because she is half Peruvian and loves Peruvian food. I made a reservation for a busy weekend night and we were seated right away. The dining room is bright and lively but also remains upscale in nature. It's perfect for any occasion. Our service was excellent and professional. We ordered Sangria, which was a large pitcher (enough for about 8 small glasses) for $20. It was delicious. Fresh bread and dipping sauces were bought to our table. Everyone enjoyed their entrees, from the Lomo Saltado to the tender lamb shank. I got a special of the evening, a salmon dish with potato croquettes, which was phenomenal. Next time, I would love to go back for tapas or happy hour.

Another perfect 5, hands down, no competition. I came here with my friends and GF and I gotta say, aside from horrific parking, especially on the eve of the first Thursday art gallery extravaganza, this dinner was one of the best I've ever had, even after just eating at Le Pigeon yesterday. The service was fantastic, (name was Robert, I believe) and he was very knowledgeable and recommended the BEST margarita I've ever had, and to this hour, I still owe my etoh palate to his suggestions. The margarita was crisp, not overly sweet, married perfectly to the rim of salt surrounding the scotch glass. Now here comes the meal; we decided to share our meals, Asian...or Spanish style by ordering a slew of tapas. Between the four of us, we shared the yuca frita appetizer, the ensalada verde peruana (salad with palm hearts, cotija, and asparagus in passionfruit vinaigrette), des pescado 5 elementos cerviche, picadillo acebichado (filet mignon tartare), mixta nikkei (tuna and crab salad served over mashed potatoes), beef heart kebobs, and grilled octopus, and acelgas empanadas (braised spinah and chard with mushrrom). For dessert, we had the tres leches cake and the trio of creme brulee. Alright, EVERYTHING WAS DELICIOUS!!! The end. But to elaborate, my favorite was definitely the grilled octopus, as it was the most succulent, giant piece of octopus I've ever had (and it definitely didn't taste fishy at all). My next was actually the mixta nikkei, as the mashed potatoes tasted so light and delicate and the seafood mixture was delightful. The salad was surprisingly large, especially for the high quality ingredients and served as a relief in between the proteinacious meals. My GF really loved the tartare, although I was more entranced with the raw quail egg on top of the tartare than the actual beef. Finally, what really surprised me was how much I loved the creme brulee! I generally dislike caramel, but the three offered vanilla, chocolate and lemon flavors, all of which were not overpowering, but definitely offered a level of sophistication that can't be bought at any pastry shops in the northeast. The tres leches...not too crazy in comparison. Overall, the entire dinner was less than $200, which was amazing, considering it fed 4 people and my previous dinner for two was almost $250. I'd strongly recommend making Andina one of your definitive culinary destinations and bring a big stomach. Food: 5 stars (tapas only) Ambiance: 4 stars (kinda loud during the evening) Service: 5 stars Price: 4 stars

I've always wanted to go here and a friend who frequents this place took me here for happy hour. I was disappointed. He said happy hour used to have more options and was cheaper. There were few options....and I thought that they were cheap until you got the food. Tiny tiny for the $. :-( The wine happy prices were just fine though!! I just had more wine than food and wanted some bread..but $6 for bread!!???? Really??!! We wouldn't pay it. So my stomach left feeling acidic. I don't know if I'd go back. It was a little to posh and upscale to my liking...hoity toity?! Hmm...Service was good in my experience though.

Thanks toYelp, I knew to make a reservation a few weeks out for Valentines Day, and I'm so glad I did. Andina's featured a special menu to celebrate love, and my husband and I were happy to join the celebration. From the beginning, the service was flawless. I have a lot of food allergies, but I'm good a maneuvering a menu without being annoying. Our server asked if we had allergies, so I confessed but had ordered around them--asparagus and salmon. They changed the prep on the salmon to avoid the panko crust and brought out fried yuca to replace the bread. Everything tasted amazing, and it was refreshing to sample the yuca in the mint jalapeño dipping sauce separate from my husband's dipping sauce for his bread. Normally, I just sip something while my dining partners enjoy the bread or crackers or whatever allergen is served. Tonight was different, and it felt wonderful. Plus, my husband got to taste yuca for the first time, and he preferred it over the bread. My salmon was perfectly prepared, and the sauces that accompanied it made it sing. I was getting pretty full--the asparagus was enough for three servings--so I didn't eat the potatoes (yuca is filling, too). Tom said the potatoes from my plate were good but his mashed and then fried, seared potatoes that accompanied his rack of lamb were amazing. He also had an empanada for his first course that was light, flavorful and reset his expectations for dining excellence. It was a valentine dinner, so dessert factored in. The chocolate brownie included egg and wheat, so I had the lavender lemon sorbet. Tom said both were good, and they paired well. I had coffee instead--dessert isn't my thing, but the coffee was a beautiful close to an extraordinary evening. I'm including a few photos, which are a bit dark. I couldn't bring myself to use a flash in Andina's romantic setting (we were upstairs, and the space was beautiful). Eventually, I didn't want to take photos either--Yelpers have posted plenty. I just wanted to be present and to celebrate all the good aspects of life that my husband and I share daily.

This review is LONG overdue. Came here over a month ago and the tastes are still with me. Our server was well versed in Peruvian culture and cuisine. When we asked him how he knew so much considering he was a local he discussed the restaurants commitment to authenticity and service. We ate tapas style including beef heart and empanadas. We drank Sangria from a clay pot. The food and the atmosphere is Amazing! Every item we ordered was better than the last. The list: The Good: The Service The Food The Sangria The Atmosphere The Menu selections The Bad: Nothing The Ugly: It's a good thing--very popular place so make a reservation.

Traveling to Portland for the first time, I did a bit of research on Google and Yelp and found Andina to be a must on my list. Coming to Andina at 9:30pm with reservation, we were seated right away. But the restaurant was very full until we left. I'm glad we had reservation. Taking suggestions from Yelpers, we selected a few small plates and 1 entree to share. - We started out dinner with their house bread and 3 kinds of dipping sauces: green salsa, mango, and peanut butter. The sauces are unique but pretty good. But I don't like their bread for they were not hot and crispy. - 1/2 dozen oysters: 3 different kinds from West Coast, East Coast. They also came with 3 different additions of chalaquita, rabano-mango and nikkei salsas to pair with the oyster. The mango salsa was my favorite. - Choros A La Chalaca - mussels cooked i white wine topped with corn & tomato salsa. Mussels were very fresh. I like it. - Palta Rellena De Cangrejo - avocado stuffed with crab, topped with a poached prawn. I thought this dish was a perfect combination. OMG. Everything comes together so well. Genius! - Conchas A La Parrilla - grilled scallop with tamari-brown sugar butter sauce and crispy onions. The scallop was huge and perfectly grilled with a very nice touch of brown sugar butter. It was absolutely delicious! - A La Chalaca - Sashimi -style fresh fish served with corn salsa. The fish came out in thick cut, very fresh and high quality. Of course, these are not quite the sashimi that you would have from a Japanese restaurant. This dish has its uniqueness and again very quality. But I have always been a fan of Japanese sashimi, so I wasn't very impressed with this. - Fish Ceviche - this is claimed to be their iconic dish. So of course, this is a must-have dish. Again, I thought the fish was very fresh and high quality. - Coderito De Los Andes - double rack of lamb with Peruvian potato. The server knew we were sharing everything, so he had the kitchen split the dish into 2 plates. It was very thoughtful of him! The 2 plates were brought out as if we had ordered 2 entrees. The lamb was perfectly grilled to medium (or medium well). The meat was still very juicy and a lil bit pink inside. The sauce complimented very well with the meat and Peruvian potato. I love their potato. Yum!! We were very full and happy with our dinner. But we decided to order 1 dessert to share. I wanted to try their flan. (original flan). It was thick and "fatty." It was definitely the true quality flan, but it was a bit sweet for me. However, I ordered my plain coffee by accident, so I poured my freshly brewed Peruvian coffee over the plan, and it was absolutely awesome. If there's one word I should describe about Andina, it would be Quality. The food was absolutely beautifully delicious. The service was top notch also. Our server explained the menu and every dish very detailed. He was also very attentive and nice. The owner (or manager) of the restaurant did pass by our table and warmly greeted us. It was such a nice experience!

We came here for a private company dinner consisting of about 15 people. We had a private room downstairs and our own waiter the entire time. The experience was fantastic. The waiter explained the menu to us as we all chose our three courses. The food was great and filled with a variety of fresh flavors and depths. and I was able to sample a variety of different dishes. Each was cooked to perfection and artfully presented. I will be more than happy to come here again for dinner. Enjoy!
