This is a good place to eat. I got the Big D pulled pork sandwich. This sandwich is very good, and I have gotten it several times. I would definitely recommend it to anyone. The only thing to be aware of with Slick's is that they don't really have much in the way of seating. He has some covered picknic tables in the grass right nearby, but don't go here expecting indoor seating. Definitely good for takeout, and for picking up lunch to take back to the office. He does catering too I believe. If you are in Newberg, and are in need of some good BBQ, hit up Slick's!

These guys do it right! I've traveled the US on business and have had all the major regional BBQ, from Texas, Memphis and Kansas City and Slick's BBQ is indeed BIG TIME! The ribs are fall off the bone tender and juicy, the smoked meatballs are amazing and Barbi's strawberry corn bread desert is out of this world! If ever in the Portland area, it's a quick hop over to Newberg OR for the best BBQ anywhere, period...

We spent $60 trying a number of different meats since we were so excited to discover them. The ribs were awesome but expensive. The brisket was dry and one of the BBQ sauces was too cuminy and none of the other sauces were much to write home about. It's a mixed bag for me.

Seriously AMAZING food! My whole life I have tried to like coleslaw and mac salad. I've gone to BBQ's, even as a kid, and tried but to no avail - I just did NOT like them. Until I ate Slicks. Their coleslaw and mac salad is addictive. The perfect hint of spice with creaminess that compliments some of the most amazing ribs I've ever had. Literally meat falling off the bone it is so tender and flavorful. You can also follow the page on FB so you can stalk the BBQ food truck they have. Eat it up people, it's awesome! Two hands required!!

I've been on a quest for BBQ and have tried many places in and around PDX, Slick's come up on my search and I decided to give it a try. Keep in mind I'm a rib lover. Ribs: Rib combo with cornbread and a side (coleslaw) all for $10, a good price. Not impressed at all with the ribs, it appears that the ribs were from a day before, seemed and tasted dehydrated, I was looking for juicy ribs. The rub had a great taste but a little on the salty side due to the dehydration. The BBQ sauce had great flavor, my favorite was the spicy sauce. Coleslaw: had a well balance flavor. Cornbread: was a honeyed cornbread, it was a nice compliment to the ribs. Most definitely I will visit this Slick's once more, they have a lot of potential. Until then, you be the judge. Yao.

Best BBQ in the Portland, my go to for anytime we throw parties, We orders the monster beef ribs last weekend along with the baby back ribs and pulled pork. Food was gone within 5 minutes. Safe to say it was a big hit

Service was great and the food (although not Santa Maria style BBQ) was excellent! Will definitely be going back.

You know how sometimes you start a new job and then find out that you're supposed to be planning the year's biggest party that takes place in just a few weeks? And then you have to find a caterer, estimate the amount of food people will eat, have it delivered, set up, and then picked up a few hours later? Don't ya just hate that? I hated it, too until I started working with Dan at Slick's. A couple of our guys asked for Slick's so I reached out for a quote and never looked back. Dan was amazing to work with - he helped me figure out appropriate quantities (even when it meant ordering half of what I had planned), fine tune the menu and then thought of everything I forgot. I had a quote within 24 hours of submitting my request and the total was about $3 per head less than I had anticipated. When you're talking 150 people, that adds up! Then came the day of delivery! Barbie and Brandon showed up right on time and had everything set up in the blink of an eye - it was amazing! Turns out they live right around the corner, so Dan came by and picked up all of the equipment he let us use the same night. So, the service was on point... let's talk food: it's now 5 days after our event and people are still talking about how good it was! The brisket, pulled pork and turkey were cooked perfectly, seasoned like real Southern BBQ and (this is my buffet pet peeve) cut into pieces that people could easily pick up! We had cornbread, beans, macaroni salad and coleslaw and I swear we've never had it so good. Truly, I can't rave enough about this business and can't wait to hire them again.

Coming from Hawaii, where BBQ is almost non-existent, I am definitely not your go-to taste expert on BBQ. But from my point of view, this place was pretty good. Not write home worthy, but good enough for me to return. I got the Big D Sandwich side of beans and a bag of chips. Brisket, pulled pork, and coleslaw on a pretzel bun, good stuff. Beans were tasty and tasted like...beans (again, I'm no expert). For $10, it was worth it for me. Good solid meal with room for a beer if you save the chips and give others bites of the sandwich. There are places to sit outside the shack as well with tents although it was like 1000 degrees in Newberg that day so I bought it and took it home to eat.

Got the pulled pork sandwich meal with cole slaw and pasta salad. Great traditional bbq flavors and super nice guys.

Mediocre at best, marginal value. The ribs were tough, chewy, and flavorless, the brisket also tough, actually, all of the meat seemed like it was rushed out of the smoker and therefore forced to rely on the sauces for any personality at all. Ah, the sauces, overwhelmingly sweet or spicy, unbalanced and harsh. The cornbread was actually the best part, but only decent and at $60 a tray it is trying to hit way outside of its league. I am not usually this harsh but when you bill yourself as an award winning pit master you better have game. Sadly, this does not.

Tried Slick's for the first time today, and we'll be back. Wonderful flavors (the brisket is to die for!) that don't overwhelm the meaty flavor. Met the owner, Dan, who treated us to his awesome strawberry cornbread shortcake since we were first time visitors. I'm never making regular shortcake again!

I have been here once, and I felt that I got a good meal for a good price. Being a die hard foodie, there was nothing that really jumped out at me. I ordered the big D sandwich with a side of macaroni salad, and was pleasantly surprised with what I got. You could see a developed smoke ring on the brisket, coleslaw was good but could of used some more acid to help cut the fat. The pretzel bun was a nice touch and the meat wasn't greasy at all. Macaroni salad was on-point, reminded me what you would get in Hawaii. It took less then 5 minutes from my order until I got my food. Very friendly and they even swapped out chips for a drink for me. Most of there sandwiches were 6-7 dollars and 2 dollars for a big side.

Very good brisket in the sandwich. Unfortunately, they use Franz buns, which are pretty blah. The sides of cole slaw and a Hawaiian-style (cold) mac salad were great. Also comes with a bag of Lay's chips -- not too impressive. Overall, quite good, but they could upgrade on a few of the finer points.

Don't know if it's the same business ... but it says Slick's on the food cart here at the LPGA tournament in Portland. Cold, dry, tasteless brisket on a white bread hamb bun. Poor imitation of Hawaiian Mac salad. Cole slaw ok.

Had the bfst burrito. A bit good but I do like my hometown carne adovada breakfast burrito by Golden Pride in Albuquerque NM. I would suggest trying adding the pulled pork to the inside with the eggs.

I ordered the pulled pork and a side of beans. Later after I eat it I didnt feel good, ended up with stomach problems, and gas from the beans. Maybe if I go there again I better try something else, in my opinion I think the pulled pork at wendys is better

By far, some of the best BBQ I've had. Meals are filling yet not overly heavy, and the flavors are so good! I appreciate that the owners are committed to the quality of their food and care what customers think. Slick's is also committed to the good of the community - they help with lots of charitable events and are super fun to work with. Hoping they open up a cart or location in Pdx!!

Labor Day wine tasting around the Yamhill Valley, our foursome found ourselves in need of sustenance. We had heard of Slick's and decided to pop in. Alas, Slick's is closed on Mondays (make a note of it so you don't drive out and miss it), but we happened to catch them as they were about to go to a catering job. Slick went back inside, cut us off a rack of ribs, some chicken, Hawaiian macaroni salad and cornbread. Folks, it was as outstanding as you're likely to get for ribs in Oregon! All of it just terrific and well worth a drive from Portland. Add to that the fact that they stopped what they were doing on a closed day to feed four hungry wine tasters... that's Five Star Yelp service! See you soon, Slick's... we'll be back!
