Great little find for Thai when in Gladstone/99. Thank you.

Grew up eating Thai and Lao food. I don't usually like to eat at such places since I could just have it at home but if I do around town it is usually at Frog Thai. Lunch specials are great and at a good price. Menu is not limited or cluttered. Good variety and options. Enough to satisfy vegans/vegetarians. I have had no complaints about anything I have gotten here except for they use thick cut calamari. Not much of a complaint, just not my preference. Staff is always pleasant as well. Eat here!

lets bump it up - new cook? I ordered Pad Kee Mao (drunken noodles again) it was just right, not too sweet and without prompting. It was having also very fresh noodles, meats and veggie, and a big portion. the mango bubble tea - not so good. The tapioca was good enough, but the mango tea was lacking flavor. half tea half juice is too dilute in taste. My suggestion they should use straight strong tea and add a concentrated mango syrup, not canned juice. almost there Frog Thai, please keep trying!

Very mediocre and almost no flavor. I got Pad Se Ew and my husband got Pad Thai. Both were fairly bland even with a lot of spice. Price was a little high for the quality. Thai Express in Oregon City is much better!

Not bad for Thia food. Ordered the chicken pad-Thai and it was pretty good. Had a slight vinegar tang to it, which I should have tested before adding the citrus. It also did not have the bean sprouts and carrots that other pad-Thai's I have gotten have had, which as a veggie lover I kind of missed. Also ordered the salad rolls which were very good. Small enough around that you could actually eat them without dropping half the roll on your plate, and the peanut dipping sauce was yummy. I even managed to eat them without any falling apart. I would be willing to give this place another try to sample something else from the menu when all is said and done.

The wife and I shared a Heaven appetizer, which is our go to choice when available. The outside was probably the best prepared of the one we have had, crisp but not greasy and the filling was the most consistent in texture however it seemed to be missing something to go with the chicken. The peanut sauce was thicker than average which might be the only area that I feel could have improvement. My wife's go to dish is chicken pad Thai. It was good although we would agree with previous reviewer's comments that it seemed to be missing some of the veggies and felt a little heavy and perhaps the noodles were a little tough. I went off the reservation and instead of having the panang Currie I tried the chef special with beef over own fried noodles.

Great food! Very authentic. Worth the wait when busy. Off the beaten path. Prices are reasonable. Good for take out as well.

Delish! I used to go there all the time for lunch. The lunch special is as big as the dinner entre. Very good food.

One of my favorite places ever! Have loved every dish, and am addicted to the crunchy shrimp roll. Large menu, good flavors, and large portion sizes. All of the staff are very sweet and responsive. The only negative thing is that the spiciness is a little off, and I have to order it a level higher than I do at other thai restaurants.

  • Shaina K.

This place is delicious! Good Thai tea and reasonably priced dishes. There's a whole vegetarian and gluten free section on the back of the menu, plus the employee was very knowledgable when I asked her about other items that were not specifically on the gluten free menu. Of course the Pad Thai was delicious, but I really recommend the Garlic Chicken dish (if you really love garlic... because it is veeerrryyyy garlic-y)!!!

After reading the reviews here, I begged my husband to try Frog Thai. He is more than a little skeptical of sketchy places, so I had to wait until he "owed" me for us to go. We're both sorry we waited so long. We started with the Tom Yum Kang. It was perfect! Nice and gingery with plenty of lemon grass and a generous number of tender shrimp. We opted for jasmine tea. Delicious. For our entrees, he had broccoli beef. The beef was surprisingly tender with no fat or gristle. The broccoli was super fresh and plentiful. I don't remember the name of my chicken dish, but it had basil, onion, bell pepper and mushroom. I agree with other reviews that when you order it spicy, it won't be spicy enough, BUT the waitress offered and brought over a spice tray, which did the job nicely. In fact, it gave me the idea to order my dishes un-spicy and add my own so I can share with the tender-footed spouse. The service is quick and responsive. The ambiance leaves a lot to be desired, but we will be giving up our standard Thai option in Sellwood for Frog Thai. Did I mention a good value, and we ended up stuffed?

  • MAX B.

Best curry in this part of town, this part being the stretch of McLoughlin from Milwaukie all the way to Oregon City, including side-roads, and possibly extending further into areas exotic as Sellwood. It is well worth driving the gauntlet (an insidiously steep driveway and sketchy-looking dive bar out front) to get to. Getting food for take-out is quick, as well as the service for a sit-down meal. The interior is nothing special, save for the nice touch of frogs dotting the windows and walls, but that's not why you go out for thai food is it? I especially recommend the Pad Thai with glass noodles, or the Red Curry (the Green Curry is good, but the spice in the Red Curry is just perfect). The spring rolls we had were good, but the peanut sauce is a little sweeter than I prefer.

Ordered take out. Red Curry w/Seafood: very thin, BLAND and lacking substance. I counted 1 mussel and maybe 3 prawn. Lame. Drunken Noodle: Bland. Asked for medium heat, it was mild at best. Som Tom Salad: Bland. Wanted medium heat and got mild again. Salad Roll: Do you want to guess if it was bland? You would be right. I added my own chili sauce at home and that made it a little better but c'mon..doesn't anyone want return business around here?

Great Thai food. My cousin recommended it to my husband and I and we loved it. The food was delicious and the staff were fast and friendly. Highly recommend anyone that enjoys Thai food to stop on and try something off their menu.

If you are south of downtown, this is the place to go for amazing Thai food. If you are looking for cool scenery, trying to impress a date or something, you wouldn't want to go here. Like all great restaurants in the world, the focus is on food and customer service, not how it looks on the outside. If you don't agree with that, then you haven't really traveled. The only better place within 30 miles is E-san Thai, but outside of town, this is it. The building is shared with a sketchy looking bar and the place has a poorly designed parking lot and entrance from the road.. but I don't care. .awesome food.

Very good food & prices. Crab puffs are very delicious! Sweet & Sour Chicken is awesome! Love the lunch menu, includes a cup of soup and price are cheap!

Been driving by this place for ten years or more and never tried it. Finally did out of curiosity and a desire to cross it off my list of to try's, or add it to my list of must try's. If you are starving and can find it, (it is tucked in the back of a lot behind a bar,) go for it. It is a typical run down mom and pop shop. Booths are ragged looking and grimy feeling but not dirty. Food is pretty decent but not anything you can't get anywhere. The red curry was too sweet for my taste. All I really tasted was sugary coconut milk. There was no complexity to the dish to make. You want it again. Because it was my first time I also ordered two appetizers and a Tom Yum soup. All of it was ok but nothing I would go back for. Sorry, if I could go half star the food was only 2 maybe 2 1/2 stars. I gave it three stars because while the food was so-so, the service was very good. The waitress/hostess was very attentive and friendly. We also got a brief "hello, thanks for coming in", from a sweet lady from the kitchen. So in all fairness, if I deduct from others for bad service, I have to give a little extra credit for good service. Unfortunately, there are way too many good Thai restaurants around these days to go back into one that is just okay.

Went to Frog Thai for valentines w/ some friends & it was awesome! (Just NOW writing the update!) Great service, delicious food & the ambiance is nicer on the inside than you expect from the outside. Our friends are foodies & absolutely loved it.

The pad Thai was a little light on meat but otherwise tasty. Lunch for three with two drinks was under $26. Definitely worth hitting up if you are on a budget but want something tasty.

Crunch shrimp wrap rolls are , portions are very generous, very much a hole the wall, family owned and operated authentic thai cuisine... Also have bubble tea in addition to the menu as well!

Thank you P.W. for introducing me to Frog Thai Cuisine. We shared the Drunken Noodles with Chicken, the Chicken Panang Curry and the Crispy Shrimp Wrap. All were tasty and well prepared. The prices are very competitive and the service is friendly and attentive.

Frog Thai is on our favorite-restaurant-list now. The price are affordable, and the serving is big especially when you order to-go. Too bad they don't have Tom Yum Noodle, but their food is great. A must try!

Great flavors all around. I'll gladly come back. Not absolutely fantastic, but definitely the best around me that I've found since moving to the area. The fried rice wasn't anything special, the rice was not fried very well, but delicious no less. This was rectified by putting whatever curry it was that I'd gotten on top of the rice. Suddenly, it was the most delicious fried rice in the world. Great place, friendly staff. I'll be ordering from there once I get home in a few weeks.

Review for TAKE OUT only. Meh. Just a big ol' MEH. Ordered Pad Thai, Yellow Chicken Curry, and the Chicken Satae appetizer. Pad Thai: - Came with about 1.25 cups chicken and some bean sprouts mixed in, but the promised eggs and green onions were very sparse. No other vegetables. - Asked for "spicy", but it was almost flavorless. Almost no scent. Scent indicated a little fish sauce and tamarind paste. - Got a hint of ground peanuts in some bites, but the grounds were hard to spot. - Large container, so there were about 4 filling servings. Yellow Chicken Curry: - Curry takeout container holds about 3 cups/servings. Container is reusable at home. - Came with steamed rice, but in small Chinese take-out style box, and was only about 1.5 servings (about 1 cup). -Asked for "spicy" but the flavor was moderate. Most taste came from coconut milk and small amount of yellow curry paste. - Carrots and onions were sparse. Plenty of white meat chicken and about 3/4 cup potatoes. Chicken Satae: - Four small chicken skewers, each with a long slice of chicken breast. - Chicken was cooked appropriately and dry rubbed with curry powder and spices. - Came with two small Solo brand sauce containers, one with peanut sauce and one with cucumber and red bell pepper relish. Relish was all vinegar (which I love but was too much for Significant Other). Peanut sauce was oddly sweet (neither of us cared for it, so I mixed it with Sriracha and a splash of soy and dumped it on my Pad Thai for flavor). SUMMATION: What is it with all of the bland, carbohydrate-loaded food in the Milwaukie/Gladstone area?!?! I know it's mostly us blue collar honkies down here, but trying to find a flavorful Asian restaurant that uses vegetables in meat dishes (or that doesn't fry half its menu) is frustrating. Vegans/vegetarians seem to like Frog Thai because they can provide meat/animal product-free meals, but if you order a meat dish, you'll need to ask for extra vegetables. Frog's food tastes fresh, but not balanced. I had to re-sauce the Pad Thai to give it flavor. Curry was bland, but not bad. Satae was a waste of money. Never going back - sorry, friendly staff. Your food is just too MEH.

I am craving thai food 24/7. I know my thai and frog thai has everything from the ambiance to amazing service to , finally and most important, delicious food . We ordered the crunchy shrimp roll which is a twist of a spring roll with tempura shrimp inside and topped with a light sauce. I highly recommend that because it was a party in your mouth . I mean it. Frog thai is also vegetarian/vegan friendly which is a huge plus for me because my boyfriend is a vegan and has a hard time finding options to eat out. For entrees , I ordered the pad see ew which was just wonderful and he ordered the sidewalk noodles ! Both were plenty in flavor with just the right about of veggies and tofu and extremely delicious ! Frog thai is a hidden gem .. It's hidden behind a sports bar and can easily be overlooked but I urge everyone to keep your eyes peeled if you want to try amazing thai food with amazing service !

I did not have a good experience here, to the point where I don't feel compelled to go back. After reading some reviews on here, plus having a couple people I know say its good, I decided to head down there and try it since its right on the corner. I ordered the Pad Thai, with chicken, medium spice.. Its my staple when I try new thai places, and its how I judge (for me) the quality of the kitchen. I was REALLY disappointed, so the point where I had to stop eating it after 5-6 bites. Which, really upset me, because I love thai food! Why was it disappointing? For pad thai, it had very little sauce, the chicken was dry and overcooked, and the noodles smelled and tasted like OLD OLD grease. The smell instantly turned me off, and the taste didn't help its cause. Now, it could be because I went on a bad day, or because my batch wasn't that good. But it was gross enough to the point where I don't even want to give it a second chance. Maybe someday, but very doubtful.

Thai food is my absolute favorite and I often find myself venturing to different Thai restaurants from time to time. Coming from California, I've tried a variety of places and just recently took a trip to Oregon and luckily discovered The Frog Thai Cuisine. This place is definitely among one of the best Thai restaurants I have ever been to. The food is AMAZING. Each dish packed lots of delicious flavor. We ordered their signature appetizer Crispy Shrimp Wrap and boy was it delicious! The wrap was like a fusion of sushi and spring rolls. Another thing we ordered that I will never forget is their Garlic Pepper Tilapia, one of their specials. I just could not stop eating the food off that dish! I also recommend ordering their Thai Iced Coffee and if you want some delicious desserts, their Mango with Sweet Rice. The atmosphere and feel of the restaurant is comfortable and homey. It's a great place to dine with family or friends. The manager and waitress (I believe her name was Michelle) were also very nice. They definitely deserve more than 12 reviews. My only dying wish is that they would open a restaurant here in California.

Thai food in Gladstone? YES! Ignore the "Milwaukie" address - this restaurant is of and for Gladstone. And for those of you who are passing through the area, don't be foolish enough to pass it by. I'll be honest - I've been eating here since they opened, about 3 1/2 years ago (?) - and this is one of the better Thai food restaurants I've eaten at. Am I prejudiced? Of course! Who wouldn't be if you found a local restaurant that produces a consistently excellent product with a reasonable price and great service. My picks - the Garlic Pepper Chicken is full of flavor, the sauce that this dish produces makes rice a delicacy. I enjoy the Pad Thai/Tofu, it's just the way I like it, not greasy, plenty of tofu. And the Red Curry/Chicken (medium for me) - the standard I judge all of my Thai food by - is spot on. A spicy, flavorful coconut milk base with plenty of chicken and veggies, and I could eat the broth by itself - but of course, I don't. Don't be put off by the location. This is in a mini-strip mall perpendicular to Mcloughlin, and aside a local's bar whose inhabitants might scare you away. Again - don't let it. If you do, you'll be missing out on some of the better Thai food in the area.

Ummm... so... yeah. 4 stars?... uhhh... 5 stars?.... really? Who would rate this place 4-5 stars? Who are you people? Have you ever had GOOD Thai food? Frog Thai is OK. It's not bad but it's not great either. And that's the point. It's JUST OK. Certainly not 4 or 5 stars, unless you've never had really good Thai food or if the bar for good food is so low that Sonic warrants 5 stars. We had the Pad Se Ew (which we measure all Thai places by) and it was just ok. Really... just ok. The noodles were meh and the sauce was meh x2. Can't see what all the hubbub is about but maybe anything in this part of town that doesn't give you rickets is an automatic 4.

not in the same ballpark as Buathong Thai Cuisine just up the street. Very friendly but the food just wasn't good. I had mussumen cuury and it was so sweet i couldn't eat it . it was sweeter than my tea :(. I might go back to try more items just beauce of how kind they are.

Frog Thai gets the Best Thai Food South of the Multnomah County Line Award. Bad location, avg to below average decor, great friendly service and simply delicious food. It's not authentic like a Thai restaurant in the middle of a Thai town in big cities, it's not fusion, it's the Americanized expected menu containing a mix of 5 rice, 5 noodle, 5 curry and 5 stir fry dishes with the requisite appetizers, desserts and beers. Plus they have 4 different kinds of chili sauce and they give you a tiny scoop of ice cream for dessert.

Just what we wanted! Our special orders (gluten free and something veg now quite on the menu) didn't faze our waiter in the least. The food came out piping hot and was very delicious. Service was excellent but not intrusive. Yes, it is next to a dive bar with sketchy patrons with motorcycles out in front and the like. But don't let that turn you off. The prices are terrific. This is good Thai. We're from the SF Bay area and will come back next time we are in south Portland. If you are a local, this is the place to go.

In the last grueling 15 minutes of the workday, I had a brilliant idea to bring Thai food home for the family. Astounded with myself, I couldn't stop announcing my decision out loud. Within a matter of minutes, 3 of my coworkers were singing the praises of Frog Thai. And so I put the idea in motion. After picking up the kids, I called in our order. The woman who answered the phone was very polite and helpful. The order only took about 15 minutes to be done. So with fingers crossed, I bought home dinner. The order was based on dinner for four and lunches the next few days Appetizers: Crispy shrimp spring rolls and a dish called Heaven. I don't eat seafood but based on the fact they were gone in minutes, I would say my husband enjoyed them. Heaven is chicken wrapped in a deep fried tortilla with a sweet peanut dipping sauce. One bite of mine and my son was hooked. Main Dish: Pad Thai with pork and Drunken noodles with chicken. The Pad Thai was good and I consider it a nice basic dish for the beginners in the family. It had a slightly sweet flavor, and wasn't greasy which I have experienced in other places (yuck). The woman at Frog Thai said the Drunken noodles are medium spicy and they were warm enough to keep you eating. Dessert: The Mango with sweet rice was just super delicious. As a backup I also ordered the fried banana with raspberry sauce. That disappeared just as fast. This place is a little gem as it's is hidden behind a dive bar. Bummer about the location for the restaurant's sake, but it made for a cool find for me. Since I started this review, we've been back there. Not sure if it's good thing but woman remember ed me and asked how the kids were. This time, the kids had the beef and broccoli, my husband the Yellow Sea Three Pals and finished with the coconut ice cream. Summary... Empty plate + stomach full of good food = happy family

Our experience was not so good, but trying to be positive... the staff we very very nice. But... the pad thai fell into the eeeee ok category and the cashew chicken was not really distinctively Thai although it was very good. On the evening we were there the heat was out of order and it was in the 30's outside. They had a small space heater for the whole restaurant but came up with a kerosene heater after we complained, however they hardly got it fired up when we left... (ate the entire meal with out coats zipped up... think camping) Lastly, the atmosphere was dated to say the least. Sorry, i had much higher expectations from other reviews

Really fine menu, really good food. I recommend this cute little place all of the time. The waitress will thank you a brazillian times, and that's even before you've ordered. Spread the word and help out this little biz.

Just had lunch here today :) My friends and I had the Larb Gai salad, Garlic Pepper tilapia, a special curry made for us by the owner (eeps), mango sticky rice and sweet thai coffee. My favorite was... all of them. Leave some room for the dessert! Mango sticky rice was so delicious and the thai coffee omg rich and sweet (if you like sweet coffee? I had 2 cups haha) Overall great place, awesome and very friendly service! The cashier/waitress and manager is so cute and she's so nice! Makes me feel right at home :)) Best thai restaurant I've ever been to, going to come back next week!

Wow... I was really impressed with this place! The dining area is cute (it's got that hole in the wall feel, but was still clean and tidy), there's little frogs all on the window sills and here and there. The lady who waited on us was very nice and attentive, and the prices were good, I'd say low end of average. The two of us ordered two lunch meals, shared an order of egg rolls, and we each had a Thai iced tea... Our total was only $19 and some change! I definitely feel like that's an excellent deal, especially considering the food was really REALLY good. It came out fast, and it was piping hot. The egg rolls were crisp (but the wrap was thin, more like the wrap on a spring roll, not like some of those egg rolls you get sometimes where it's almost like it was dipped in batter or something) and flavorful, with the sweet chili like sauce that has that little bit of a bite. She also brought us out soup (egg flour?) which was good, but I didn't really eat much of it to be honest, I was too focused on those tasty egg rolls. The iced tea was just right. And our lunch plates? I ordered Pad See Ew and it was phenomenal. So good, like I think while I was scarfing it down I must have said "Wow, this is really good" and "Oh my god, it's soooo GOOD!" around bites at least five times each. My dining companion ordered the Drunken Noodles at a number 5 spicy (yeah, she's crazy) and she said it was delicious also, nice and spicy the way she likes it, which you'd think would be a given, but the last time her and I had Thai (at another establishment) she ordered a 5 spicy and it was lacking in the spice department. I think it's because she has no taste buds left after ordering 5 spicy's every where she goes, but she insists she tastes her food just fine. At any rate... I will absolutely be going here again, and I recommend you go there too! I think Frog Thai might be my new favorite Thai joint!!

I've driven by this place about a million times but since the sign is right in front of The Ranch sports bar, I always thought it was part of the bar. I finally decided to venture toward the back of the parking lot to find a quaint little restaurant complete with about 6-8 booths, a few tables and the most 'thankful' waitress I've ever encountered...Kenneth was right, I think she said "thank you" after every sentence. Example: Me: "What are your specials tonight?" Waitress: "Oh, thank you. We have Evil Jungle chicken. Thank you. It is a combination of chicken, vegetables like broccoli, onion, peppers, basil, in a very spicy sauce. Thank you." Me: "And were there more specials?" Waitress: "Oh yes, thank you. We have vegetable curry. Thank you. Vegetables like broccoli, onions, peppers, basil, in curry sauce. Thank you." Anyway, you get the gest. I ended up ordering the green curry chicken (they also have two other chicken curries) and it was delicious! Hot and spicy and just the perfect amount of curry and white rice. Not so much that I was stuffed and not so little that I felt it wasn't worth the money. All of their items seemed to be reasonably priced and the menu was quite large. Maybe it was the large print but it was like a book, looking through it. There were two other tables of people when I walked in and at least three to-go orders picked up while I ate so it was much busier than I thought it would be walking in. I believe my total for the food and a Thai beer was $11.50. Definitely worth the trouble finding the place and I will be back again!

My favorite Thai place! Total hole in the wall, hidden behind a tavern, but the food is really good. It's cheaper than any of the other Thai places I've been to and the portions are huge! I've always gotten the food to go, but the people are so nice, I'm sure it's a great place to dine in with friends or on your lunch hour.

So my friend is a budding Milwaukee expert and recently while in his neck of the woods to help drop off his car we decided to feast on thai food. Now there are hundreds if not thousands of Thai places in the metro area to choose from, but if you happen to be in the abyss of Milwaukee I recommend the Frog. Nestled behind a very generic looking sports bar grill place the Frog is a very typical Thai establishment, some art on the wall, 6 tables, no one else eating in the place, but a few people stopping in for take out. it was great to have the entire place to ourselves for the late lunch meal, and our waitress may have said thank you in between every breath that both she and I took. The final thank you count was somewhere in the 60's. Sheesh. The food is fantastic! Everything was really flavorful and delicious, without exception. I had some simple spicy noodle thing that makes me ponder driving to Milwaukee every time I want Thai. I dock one star for making us order off of the dinner menu, when we were just 10 minutes late for the lunch menu, ugh....side note: When are we going to abolish the stupid different menu for different eating times...outrageous says I.

We came here once and found the food bland and disappointing. The service was fine, but the "Amazing Tofu" is far from amazing (some tofu and vegetables floating in a soup of msg-flavored goop). Husband had some extremely unmemorable Pad Thai. I really do wish this place was better as the people are very friendly and it is very close by, but the food is just not up to snuff. Like another reviewer mentioned doing, I took home the leftovers and jazzed them up a bit so as not to waste food.

First off, DO NOT LET THE LOCATION SCARE YOU! Yes it is behind a gross dive bar with filthy people in and out of it....But Frog Thai is fantastic! Really it is. Very good service and prices are great!

Pla is my favorite lady and my family only gets our Thai food from Thai Frog. I recommend the Yellow Chicken Curry w/no onions and add lots of broccoli over rice and lots of Sriracha! The best crab puffs around!

I don't come down to Milwaukie much, and when I do it's been a struggle to find a place to have a good meal. I was pleasantly surprised with Frog Thai. Sure, the atmosphere isn't the best, the music from the pub next door comes through the wall, and they have a TV looping a tourism video. All that didn't matter much though. The food was great. I had chicken satae with the most amazing peanut sauce, and my husband had the tropical curry, both were very tasty. The portions were on the smaller side, but the prices were also about a dollar or two less than I expected. Service was nice. I'll be back for sure.

I went to Frog Thai restaurant last month but I got busy & forgot to write a review. We had Pad-See-Eww & Pad Thai, they were good but for some reason this restaurant didn't stick in my mind. Not a lot of parking space so you might have a tough time. Half of my truck was in blackberry bushes.

  • Rachel C.

Good service. Mediocre food. We ordered five different dishes. They were not bad, just ok. The curry lacked the traditional thai flavors that are vital to this dish. My soup had pieces of ginger in it that were bitter and hard to chew. The sauted pepper garlic chicken was ok, but lacked both pepper and garlic flavor. It tasted more like chinese food which is fine if you are in a chinese restaurant.

Don't let the location of this place turn you off. It's sort of in the ghetto, and it's hidden behind a nasty looking bar with sketchy people hanging around out front. BUT, but the food is really good and the prices are unbeatable! I went back the next day because I was so impressed with my meal. It's definitely some of the better thai food I've had in the area.

Pretty good thai food hole in the wall type of place on McLoughlin. 99E usually doesnt have very good food, this place is sort of on par with most other places but has a really friendly staff and hit or miss food. Its not that its bad, but its okay most of the time and good about half the time. I have tried a lot of stuff from the menu because i work nearby
