Sexy Roll is awesome! The kids even loved it. Small place not much to look at but food is great and owner and server are polite and always smiling. Best prices in town for sushi

Family run, fantastic service and in my opinion the best sushi in town. Very attentive service and reasonable price. Also crunch roll extra sauce, hands down the best.

Great sushi! Fresh fish! Big portions! Good prices! Attractive waitress! What more do you want? Unfortunately they are only open for lunch :(

This is great sushi joint for lunch ( only open for lunch) It is quick, easy and pleasant for to go or sitting down to eat. The sushi rolls are good. I like the 49's roll and a few other yummy ones. Glad this place exists.

Great sushi! Prices are reasonable and the bento box is a great easy lunch. The other sushi tastes great and I've yet to have an item I didn't like. The Wakame salad is tasty, too. It's tiny there, so either prepare to wait for a table, eat outside or get it to-go.

Published info says this place closes at 10:30 pm. Went there very hungry after at long day of work because they were "open." Arrived after many misses and U-turns at 8:40. Posted closing time on the door is 9 pm. Still made it, right? Nope! Walked in, woman looked at us like we were lost, and said "Oh no, we closed." I let her know about the 10:30 advertised closing time we had JUST looked up, so she would know, to which she said, "No, no, you wrong." Fine. Won't come back at any time of day.

I ordered two rolls and when they arrived they were huge. They were about triple the size of regular rolls. It was very difficult to eat because of the size and they fell apart easily. What I could eat was good, but messy.

Small, Owner-Operated business. Best secret sushi in Medford. Try the Sexy Roll

Well, the service was quick, friendly, and competent. Let me preface this by saying that I love sushi and fresh seafood.....but this place was not fresh and not good. The food.....terrible in my opinion, not good at all. I ordered 3 items and only finished one of the rolls because they were just flat out gross. I asked about the crab that was used in the rolls as I was hoping to pay for fresh crab and also receive fresh crab, no luck because the waitress was kind enough to tell me that it was " imitation crab", so I stuck with shrimp and salmon. The waitress also told me that many of the rolls containing popular items/fish actually contained lesser fish of a less expensive quality. This is a common practice by sushi restaurants where they offer high end fish/nigiri rolls and often use a lesser quality and grade of fish combined with the originally ordered item in an effort to save money. High quality fish is pricey and they look to pull the wool in order to make money. Unfortunately, a lot of places still do this. Here is a tip for people that really like to eat fresh/incredible sushi. If you ever find yourself in the Sacramento, CA area or Lake Tahoe, go eat at Mikunis. There are 4 restaurants in the Sacramento area and one in Lake Tahoe. Absolutely incredible food. The best sushi hands down anywhere, better than Nobu in LA, (which is great). The only bad thing about it is that no other sushi restaurant will ever compare after you eat at Mikunis. If you ever make it to those locations do yourself a favor and grab lunch or dinner, you will not be disappointed. Thx.

Ive been coming here for several years now. The service here is awesome- every time. You know these people appreciate your business. The sushi quality and portions are equally impressive, which is saying something. I couldn't say enough good things about the place, I just with they were still open for dinner!

*UPDATE August 7th, 2014* They are now only open for lunch, Monday thru Friday, 11:00AM - 2:30PM. They no longer do dinner service. This is the best Japanese place in town, in my humble opinion. Since Gen Kai closed several years ago, and this place popped up, I'm somewhat of a regular for my sushi fix. Small joint; seats about 20 people.

This place is great. These days they are only open during the week for lunch both worth it. The 49'ers is a great house special roll as is the Polk St.

Very small family-run restaurant with a small sushi bar and a dozen or so tables. The two-item Bento box is a good value. My companion had a California roll and we shared a Rainbow roll, beautifully arched like a rainbow and featuring rolls with a variety of seafood. Small but adequate selection of beers. Recommended.

First of all, the service was second to none for such a small, hole in the wall, restaurant! My first time. LoOve sushi from all over the West Coast and Wasabi Sushi absolutely delivered!! Usually, I know what I want and order accordingly. However, this time, I told them I liked spicy tuna, and such, and to bring me two rolls of what the chef wanted to make. They brought one of their special rolls, typical spicy tuna w salmon, which was full of yumminess and very good. Then, they brought one w the other "favorite" ingredients I had listed including the spiciness.....and was told "..not on the menu." in such a kind manner! I was so impressed w the grade of sushi, hearty portions and the humility of the service! And, that they went above and beyond their call of duty for someone who they don't even know! Really!? Who does that anymore?? This place has to be on your radar of sushi restaurants to visit.....just sayn!! Ciao.

5 stars for Medford Fare This is a pretty small place tucked away in the cedar mall, but don't let their location outweigh their food and service. Ive been a regular here for a few years now, mostly due to their quality and price of their rolls. Unlike some other local Japanese places, here you can get a bento as a dinner with many different options to choose from.... And a Togo order doesn't lose the miso soup like some other places do. The size of their restaurant is efficient and clean. The husband and wife owners, along with the other server girl consistently provide excellent service. Ive yet to turn a friend onto this place who was disappointed.

This place is a great little hole-in-the-wall. For a long time, it was my favorite sushi restaurant in the Valley! The service is nice, the tea is delicious, and their sushi is great. They have a large menu (don't let the awful photos deceive you), and the fish always tastes fresh. I always take my visiting company/family here and everyone has always loved it! Try the HOT roll-- you'll fall in love with Wasabi too!

Renee and I used to eat here more but there are lots of places in Ashland and we get lazy. I still say, 'please can we eat at Wasabi?' every time we're in Medford. Definitely a modest little place but we've never gotten a bad meal here. Definite family-owned and friendly vibe. Very fresh and high-quality fish, which is all I care about. I love the miso soup here, too. Don't listen to the naysayers--I'm right, and they're wrong.

Very well done. Fish is good quality. Service is friendly, a little uneven. I really likes the spicy tuna roll. Which is pretty basic, I know, but done very well

The best sushi in town. Try the Sexy Roll. You won't be disappointed. The service could not be better. They are super friendly and truly want you to enjoy your meal. The restaurant is small and while some say this or that could be better, I go for the food. The best looking restaurant in town is only as good as it's food, and there are enough good lookers that don't deliver. Wasabi delivers every time. The rolls are presented as they come up - FRESH. I like that. Especially if you order anything tempura - you really do not want that sitting before you eat it or it just becomes a soggy greasy mess. (They do that quite well at Kobe in Ashland if you like your tempura that way...) The only con in my book is the drink options are limited. I would love to see some local brews on tap or a full bar in the future, but for now the food keeps us coming back for more.

This was a nice hole in the wall Sushi joint which was a very nice treat. The inside is very tiny however with only 6 tables or so. The prices are incredibly low but the rolls are a bit on the small side, so order extra if you are a little hungry.

We decided to try this spot on the recommendation of a co-worker. I'm glad we did! We must have timed it just right, because we had our choice of tables right before the place was packed. We tried the Sexy Roll and another spicy roll, and both were yummy. We also shared an order of tempura shrimp, but they were just 'okay'. We had great service from a small, friendly staff. We'll definitely be back when we're in Medford!

The roll was down right terrible. The rice wasn't sticking to the seaweed, the fish was cut sloppy, and the taste was below par. No one said anything to me. When the woman took my order she wrote it down and walked away. I say try all of the sushi bars in town once so you know what's good and what's not worth a second visit. I won't be coming back.

I have lived in the Medford area my entire life, and have stayed very close to Eagle Point, where I grew up. Therefore, I'm no expert at what is "authentic" or "the best" of anything, really, as far as restaurants go. I just tried Wasabi Sushi for the first time with my boyfriend last night, and it was phenomenal. We were greeted the second we walked in by the waitress, although she had an aura as if she owned the place. She may well have been one of the owners. I ordered the combination bento. This meal included your choice of two items (I chose the teriyaki chicken and potstickers), salad, and soup. He ordered the chicken udon, which included a giant bowl of udon and a salad. We also shared a sake maki (salmon) roll. The sushi was beautiful, and tasted perfect. I've tried Bonsai a couple times, and it's also very good, but I don't know what it is... I just like Wasabi's sushi a lot more. The only critique I have is that the teriyaki chicken was not quite as moist as Bonsai's. But it didn't matter. It was still delicious, AND the atmosphere, the service, and everything was just right. It is TINY, but not cramped at all. The smallness just makes it adorable, and very home-like. Oh, and did I mention that our entire bill was just $21? We loved this place, and will be back again and again!!!

Staying in Medford tonight before an early flight, my wife and I turned to Yelp for dinner recommendations. Wasabi Sushi was a good choice. There are only six or eight tables, plus four bar seats. We're lucky we arrived before it filled up; it seems like a popular place for couples. Tried a couple maki rolls and the chicken teriyaki, plus miso soup. The miso wasn't great. The teriyaki sauce was very sweet, definite brown sugar taste, which isn't really my style. But the sushi was very good, everything was presented nicely and service was excellent. We both really enjoyed the cozy and friendly atmosphere and will probably eat here again in the future when we're in Medford. It seems like a well-loved neighborhood spot.

Wasabi sushi is a bright spot in a town that is hard to find good asian food. Asumi the waitress, Kija and Tae Lee the owners are so kind and provide excellent service. Wasabi has a following in Medford and I can see why. Try the tempura roll (tempura shrimp in a delicious roll) and a tonkatsu breaded pork cutlet very yummy. My wife is Japanese and says Wasabi freshness and quality is excellent. Try it you will love it.

This is the best little secret of Medford! It's a little cramped when the rush hits, but the sushi makes it worth it. Always tastes fresh and for a reasonable price too. My favorite sushi place in Medford for 4 years now.

Very friendly service, priced well for a sushi place...BUT People in Southern Oregon don't have much of a choice for sushi, so places like these end up getting 5 star ratings. Even though they are not 5 star places. Don't get me wrong - I will eat there again. The sushi is only mediocre though. Also - the way the food was served could be improved. Things like - serving it at the same time. My boyfriend's food arrived 5 minutes before mine. There are other unimportant little things about the restaurant itself that could be improved...but a decent place overall.

Good japanese food, but I wish they put more salmon in the bento box, as I would have given a higher rating. 4 stars for the sushi rolls, the spicy tuna roll was great.

I've been to 3 or 4 sushi places in Southern Oregon and this one is the best. The ambience isn't great, but the sushi is very good. My favorite roll is the Super Crispy Spicy Roll. We went here last night to celebrate our friends' birthday and had a really good time. Good food, solid service and so-so atmosphere. If I could give it a 3 1/2 star rating I would.

Just ate here after reading reviews that this place was great, so disappointed. The atmosphere is terrible and the food quality is worse. We had edamame, miso, dragon roll and spicy crunch roll. Everything was mundane, would have had better sushi at a mall! Feeling sick right now

I was only able to stop in for two sushi rolls, but pretty tasty. I have been trying out every Sushi place I can find in town and this is one of my favorites so far. Decent prices, the place is on the small side. I will have to go back to try some more rolls.

I like it when simple sushi is done well, and this place didn't disappoint. My aunt and I had the green bean roll, spicy tuna, and unagi. The fish was fresh, and the size was perfect. I can't stand it when you go to a sushi place and the rolls are so huge you wonder how you'll even get a bite in your mouth without destroying the thing. Wasabi was the opposite; perfect bite size! The service was extremely friendly. It took awhile to receive our first order, but subsequent sushi came very fast. The prices were reasonable as well. I'll be eating there again!

Best sushi in Medford hands down. Just a little hole in the wall family owned place, but great every time!

  • L D.

Wasabi Sushi was wonderful. The sign of a good sushi restaurant is that when you walk in you do not smell fish. That is a good indicator that the fish is fresh. I also liked the fact that the rolls were "one bite" size, not a lot of rice, and that the rice was not sweet. Coming from California I am used to great sushi places, this is one of those places. I would highly recommend Wasabi Sushi.
