The waitresses were welcoming, efficient, and attentive. The sashimi was delicious, tender, and large. The poki sauce was refreshing, spicy, and light. The miso soup was everything I hoped it would be.

The most fresh spicy tuna roll and dinner entree I have ever had! It melted in my mouth. I tried the pork Yakisoba and it was indulgent. I look forward to my next dining experience at Sakura! Very clean establishment and professional wait staff. Thus is one of my top three favorite places to dine at.

There simply IS no better sushi/Japanese place that I've found in Medford! Others may have some interesting plates.....but I've tried most of the staples here now, and they are all fantastic. Here's the thing: the secret here is the fish! I have NEVER, anywhere, had better. The maguro is so tender, it literally melts in your mouth.....the salmon, beyond compare! I don't usually care for salmon nigiri.....it's often "fishy".....here, it's pure buttery goodness! The Medford Roll is simply spectacular. It's got a spicy maguro tuna and tobiko on top, with salmon, tempura shrimp, and avocado. Highly recommended! Even the simple bento box is special. The chicken is obviously grilled, and marinated. Tempura is completely light and crispy. The miso is WAY beyond the standard! This trip, I added in a spider roll.....which had HUGE chunks of soft shell crab. Delicious too. As another reviewer mentioned: there are no little paper menus. I'd hardly call that a deal-breaker. Just start ordering......you're not going to regret it! I'm planning on moving into the noodles soon.....the Seafood Yaki looks particularly tempting!

Went in hoping for the best as our favorite little Wasabi hole in the wall seems to be closing (or at least only offering lunch now). Had high hopes too, as the location Is super convenient to home and a Japanese option amongst the 2 Chinese restaurants only a block apart (silver dragon and yummy yans.. Ick!) was looking like icing on the cake. Fail and fail. This place is run by Chinese... Nice people I'm sure. But that's like asking the Germans to cook Italian. Not so good. Unless ur in need of a dictator, I suppose. I noticed a ridiculously huge menu with lots of rolls that were deep fried. Now, don't get me wrong... I LOVE fried food, so again I was optimistic. FAIL again as all u get is crunch with the taste of oil. It could have had tako, tekka, or unagi and I wouldn't have known. Shoot, it could have been the homeless guys insole for all I know- tasteless nonetheless. I probably should have known when I spotted the California roll listed twice with differing ingredients and prices......and...... No sushi order forms? WTF? Then there's the chunky, not too spicy Wasabi balls that don't seem to mix in soy well at all. They get 3 stars for decor and location... Less 1 star for mediocre sushi made by Chinese folks in a fishy smelling, clean, nicely decorated new restaurant with a white waitress who knows nothing about sushi... Again she too was very nice, as was the fish tank. Not much else here, hoping this is just the kinks in a new place working itself out- but not very optimistic on this spot.

hubs and I were super stoked to see a new setting for Sakura Sushi. (I think it is the same one that used to be on Riverside Ave... that one had the best sushi in the valley but the location was awful...) Anyhow, service was off, as in nobody seemed to know what they were doing. Sushi was actually fishy tasting. As I said, had high hopes for it... not going again.

Eh. It was decent. I didn't realize that when you say you want teriyaki chicken and rice, no vegetables, that they still cover the entire order with vegetables. You have to walk up to the counter for a fork. I hate chop sticks!!! I don't like wood in my mouth! The teriyaki sauce was salty af! It needs more sweet and less salty. The rice was excellent once I finally moved all the damn vegetables out of the way. Serving size was good. Had leftovers, but it took me forever to get any food into the box without a crap load of vegetables that I specifically said I didn't want. I will probably give them another chance, but for now I give 2/5 stars. Oh, and when I walked in nobody was around, so I grabbed a menu and sat myself. 15 minutes later the waitress showed up. She apologized for my having to wait.

This is a pleasantly decorated restaurant with good service. The sushi is average to meh. The Tuna poke salad was my least favorite since it was served on a bed of iceberg lettuce rather than seaweed cucumber salad. The spicy hamachi roll was okay, spicy scallop roll was not great, spider roll also not so good, but the spicy California roll with real crab was very good. The fish did not taste super fresh. Parking is easy. We were so hoping it would be good. The prices are decent.

Went in to get an order to go and we had some difficulty figuring out the veggie roll situation. They didn't have one on the menu??? So we winged it. I thought I would try out a the spicy tuna roll. ( if you can't make that delicious ) then I won't go back. The sushi was mediocre and the service was highly disorganized. 2 stars for giving me a bowl of miso soup while I waited and waited in a restaurant with 4 other people.

Just another Chinese restaurant maquerading as Japanese. Don't waste your time. This is crude food. Sushi is about refined handling of superior ingredients and requires a certain amount of artistry. You won't find any of that here. I have had better sushi in west Texas...a hell of a lot further from the sea than this place.

Awesome service, huge menu with a lot of affordable options. Had a couple rolls and a chicken teriyaki bento and every single thing was good. They have a lot of rolls without cucumber which is great since I'm not big on it and everywhere else puts it in almost every one. One of the better sushi spots in town for sure.

There are a few things that can immediately tell you something about a restaurant without ever putting something in your mouth. Let me say that I eat Sushi at least once a week, usually more. I have lived and traveled all over the world in business, NYC, Paris, Milan, LA, SF, Tokyo.... eating in some of the finest Japanese restaurants available. I'm not comparing Sakura to them, only to the competition in the area. 1. How clean is it. 2. The decor. 3. The menu. These 3 things usually can be enough to tell you if you should stay or that your probably better off to run for the hills. 1. Sakura is brand new, so it's clean. 2. The decor is nice, nothing fancy, exotic or offending (this is Medford Oregon the Rogue River Valley, a place that is stuck in a time warp, way behind the norm in interesting food or quality restaurants) so it's ok for the area. 3. The menu. The Menu is a mess a joke really. Several pages of pictures and weird names of dishes that mean nothing to the average person or an experienced sushi goer. Pictures, yikes, that went out like forever ago, especially when they are not good. 172 dishes / options on the menu. At least 120 more than any restaurant should have. A ridiculous number of rolls, 3/4 of them you would never find in a quality sushi restaurant, for a reason. The worlds best sushi restaurants don't even have menus, you sit down and they have a set menu for the day of the freshest, properly pre-paired and aged fishes of the day. No restaurant can keep food fresh, cook from scratch and avoid freezing and micro waves serving this ridiculous variety of food. This looks like a menu from a 1980s sushi restaurant. Before most people really started eating sushi. They supplemented the sushi to attract people that where on the ledge about sushi. With so many items they need to be numbered because the waiters have no idea what you are ordering, obviously having never eaten or even tried most dishes. Even the staff thought the menu was nuts, ridiculously large and very confusing, like something out of a Kitchen Nightmares episode. Maybe the biggest problem is they don't supply you with a write on menu or paper supplement to write down your sushi order. Really? You have to remember and order sushi pieces verbally. It takes forever and is behind the times. You wonder what the heck are they thinking? Do they know what they are doing? I doubt it. Another thing from the 80s is you are forced to order 2 pieces. That went out about 1982 in sushi restaurants around the world. If you want 1 piece of anything, here, you are out of luck. That is just plain stupid. Trying something new for the novice is discouraged because of this and maybe you just don't Want 2 pieces of Uni. Really stupid, they need to dump that rule and get with the times. I was hopping Sakura would be competition for the 2 best sushi restaurants in the area, Shinsei & Umi so they would all up their game. Unfortunately its not right now. We Ran for the hills.

They just opened. Ate here two nights in a row. The Bento Dinner Box #1 was delicious on night #1 with an addition of Maguro. Night #2 was the Pork Udon and a Rainbow Roll. Service is super friendly and the food is very good. Prices are quite reasonable and portions match with that. I'll keep coming back. Sushi bar seats about 6 people. All the other seating is booths. Not really good for groups as booths all seat 4 people max.

Great new restaurant. Clean, inviting. Still training servers, but the food was outstandong. Head a Hamachi lover which was food as a traditional item. The Medford roll was quite tasty and spicy. The food is presented well.
