Extremely over priced. I had a burger that tasted like Burger King but with cheddar. It was a crappy quality beef. There were maybe 10 fries. I asked how many onion rings were in an order. 5!? 5!? Really you want me to pay extra for 5 onion rings. But it makes since with my crappy burger. My crappy fries. My crappy bacon. I was expecting delicious greasy dinner food with massive portions. I got greasy high school cafeteria quality food. The service was crappy. The waitress was awful and left half way through our meal and the new server didn't offer refills on our extremely overpriced crappy soda. But you best believe she asked us if we want dessert. I replied with "no thank you, may we just have the check please" 10 mins later we got our check and 10 mins after that I got tired of waiting so I had to go find her to pay. I had to get back to work. It would be different if it was packed but there were only 5 or 6 tables. So all in all. It was pretty crappy.

Amazing food. Great family atmosphere. Good home cooking. The breakfast was great. Pancakes were great and the omelettes were the same. Punky went around and introduced herself. Great woman. Great food. We can't wait to go back.

Love love love. That's what Punkys is all about... Punky and her husband are real good people who have built an honest business. The place is spotless and the cleanest restaurant around...the food is largely homemade, or of very high quality. We love the breakfast and occasionally drop in for lunch. The staff sticks around, which is evidence of this being a good place to work, and they get to know you! Punky will come and chat with you and is always open to suggestions...they truly serve their customers. And then there is the pie....hands down, the best around. Killer crust! We love you guys!

Everything you could want in a diner. Including cute waitresses dressed to the 50's and 60's. This will become a regular stop every time Im in Medford.

Went here a few weeks ago for breakfast and I was more than pleasantly surprised at the great food! The server was friendly and gave just the right amount of attention. Food was delicious! I'll definitely come here again if I'm heading through Oregon.

Decent food. Wanted to try the pie but it was $5.00 a slice. $35.00 for a pie. I thought it was too pricey. Have not gone back.

This is a preliminary evaluation as this is our first visit to Punky's. I see from the earlier photos and first reviews (?) that the owners are very aware of Yelp. I had the chili mac and an Arnold Palmer tea; the spouse had half a roast beef sandwich with fries and lemonade. The chili and sandwich were good while the fries were excellent. We got no refills for our drinks during our meal. We hope to try the pies and breakfasts another time.

We had heard a lot of great things about this place, but it did not meet our expectations. The food is okay, but we felt it was overpriced for diner eats with small portions compared to similar establishments. Even though our lunch wasn't bad (nothing to write home about, though), we were really excited about their legendary pie. Sadly, this was the worst part. I got the almond joy, and while the filling wasn't bad, the crust (my favorite part) crumbled into tiny pieces the moment anything touched it; the whole thing fell apart and was more like eating pudding with crumbles on it than pie. My husband got the custard pie, and was also disappointed. The consistency was chalky and gritty, the crust powdery, and he said it tasted like scrambled eggs - neither of us wanted more than one bite and ended up throwing it out. This place is also open randomly, with estimated hours of operation. I can safely say we won't be going out of our way to eat there again, and will not be recommending it. One great thing that Punky's had was excellent service! The wait staff is kind and attentive. We also really enjoyed their coffee - much better than typical diner coffee. And I really do appreciate the owners values and mission for fresh food from scratch. For the same diner ambience and better food, we will be hitting up Debbie's Diner in Phoenix in the future.

Took one of my friends here for lunch and even though there were some hic upps with our waitress Alana not coming to our table to check on us...My friend had to ask why our waitress was not stopping by our table..she applogized and gave us our drinks free.. the other waitress Michelle really stepped in for us and made it a great service...still great service 100%

WAY over priced for what you do not get. WOW $4.50 for a SLIVER of a piece of pie ( Marionberry). For homemade pie crust is not flaky kind of like mush and the filling is not fresh either canned or frozen. NOT like a fresh baked pie. I think this had been made a few days ago, Not going back save your money.

We went to punkys this morning for my hubby's birthday. The waitresses were very friendly and treated my husband like he was very special. The restaurant itself is very cool , definitely a diner feel with red and white upholstery and retro posters and 50's music playing. The food was good I thought but my husband wasn't impressed. He always has biscuits and gravy for breakfast. One lovely touch that impressed me was that the owner(Punky) came out to check our reactions and after hearing of the birthday boy, the waitress brought him a birthday card with a gift certificate! My daughter loved her corned beef sandwich.

Let me first say that the food at this restaurant is absolutely delicious. I was especially impressed by their variety of hot dogs. Although a bit pricey, it's hard to find any fault in what Jim and Connie Rhonda put on the menu. That being said, my most recent experience here was marred by our server. After a miscommunication with my order the waitress was argumentative and disrespectful. The last thing I want while trying to enjoy a meal is to feel insulted and not welcome. As such I will be taking my business elsewhere. Thank you Jim and Connie for some delicious food, but it appears one of your servers is in need of manners.

visiting from out of town and were looking for a decent breakfast place. Reviewed yelp and decided to try this local place. Locals, if you haven't discovered this place yet shame on you. Best waffles we've had in a few years and that's saying something. We saw all the reviews on pancakes but you HAVE to try the waffles - melts in your mouth. Excellent service, excellent food and a very friendly atmosphere. We also ordered a Pie to take with us as it looked just too good to pass up. Pinky came out and helped us select one , we ordered it and will be picking it up in a cpl of days on our way back home. Bit hard to find if you use map tool but its right behind the Rite Aid Pharmacy with parking in the mall lot.

Delicious food! This is a new diner, and out of the gate it's incredible. I had a Blast burger (firecracker patty, pepper jack cheese, chipotle mayo and guacamole). Not for the weak, but not killer hot either. The salad dressings are all home made. They even have old-fashioned cherry coke! The pie crusts are yummy! I usually don't save room for dessert, but couldn't pass it up. Can't WAIT to go there for breakfast and more pie!

Fantastic burgers, no nonsense, nothing super fancy just great food, great service. My husband and I like to go have lunch after a movie at Tinseltown, easy walk across the parking lot. Prices are really reasonable too.

Stopped in here a couple weeks ago for the first time. Their breakfast was pretty delicious. I had a chicken fried steak with eggs. The gravy was pretty good. I gave only 4 stars because service was a little slow, the waitress would stop by our table and we would ask for additional items and she would never bring them. She was young, and working alone. The food was good though!

Went for breakfast twice. Service is slow and portions are small compared to other similar restaurants with the same pricing. Eggs were overcooked. They do not have real hot chocolate only powdered. However they do serve real maple syrup and their own apple butter. The omlete was disappointing and the corn pancakes were small and unsatisfying. The sausage patties have good flavor. They serve Seattle's Best coffee. 50's style decor.

We had breakfast here and it was wonderful! We are very picky about waffles and this was the BEST!! As was the huge omelette. We will definitely come back again!!

I'm not a fan of breakfast foods, so I had a Rocket burger which was pretty tasty. The burger had a homemade texture and flavor and the chiplotle mayo dressing was spicy/tasty. Fries were frozen but hot and crisp. I could have done with a better bun. Overall I'd give the burger a 7 out 10. My friend got an omelette which he really enjoyed and said was excellent if a bit smaller than some other places. We weren't charged for refills on coffee, like we have been at Old Farmhouse, and I felt the food tasted fresher. My friend also had a side of corned beef hash. The corned beef was very good. The overall hash maybe wasn't 'hashy' enough. Not combined enough, but the flavor and texture of the corned beef was very delicious. Punky and her husband both visited our table more than once, checking in and seeing how we were. Waitress was a bit slow coming for our check, but that might have just been a misunderstanding. So, overall, an 8 out 10 for me.

Fantastic! Homemade everything from the sausage patties, corned beef hash, and biscuits to the apple butter. And real whipped butter not margarine. Yum! The homemade sausage I will highly recommend. I'm only sorry we didn't find this place sooner during our Medford stay as it's hands down our favorite breakfast joint in town. Enjoy the Seattles Best coffee a little taste of home, and cannot stress enough how clean it is, even the silverware sparkled!

Very good service. I had the cornbeef has. It was a little salty for my taste, but i liked that it came with onions and bell peppers. The scrambled eggs were very nice and fluffy. I didn't get a chance to try out the pie but i will next time!

Today while out doing errands, I got a craving for a hamburger. Don't like fast food and didn't want to spend $10 or more for a gourmet burger. Then I remembered reading favorable reviews on Punky's, so thought I'd give it a try. The decor was a 50's theme with very nice red and white leather booths. The dining room looked like it was clean enough to do surgery in, with the owners quickly spray cleaning the vacated tables. There was a steady stream of customers. I ordered Jim's Special Cheeseburger from the stand-up specials on the table. It came with coleslaw on the patty and choice of side item ( I chose fries) for a very reasonable $8. The fries were just the way I like them, nice and crispy on the outside and not greasy. This filled me up, so did not order any of their pie. Service was good, everyone was friendly and efficient. If you haven't tried Punky's yet, give it a try soon.

We used the Limelight deal to try Punky's for breakfast this weekend. First of all, we loved the interior; it is very clean and the new white and red leather boots really add some style. Also love the retro bar! Punky herself greeted us and served coffee. She is a sweetheart, as is her husband and co-owner. These two retired and decided to open a diner for the next phase of their lives with no previous restaurant experience and using just their own recipes. These two are so inspiring! I got the Portland omelet with a potato cake an homemade English muffin bread. The omelet was very decent. The potato cake is really just mashed potatoes grilled and crisped like hashbrowns. It needed salt, but was still unique and very good. The homemade English muffin bread was outstanding; at first, I wished for more butter on it in addition to the light butter they brushed on, but as I ate, I started really falling in love with the bread exactly as it was served. Yum! My kids ordered pancakes and bacon and ate every bite. The other half ordered pancakes and also really enjoyed the meal. Coffee is Seattle's Best and was properly brewed. Since it IS Punky's Diner and PIES, we had to get a couple of slices to go! Punky herself makes 2 kinds of pie each day. Saturday was Dutch Apple or Cherry. We got a slice of each. I adored the cherry pie! It was very tart and the homemade crust was amazingly addictive... just like the old days. People don't make pie crusts like this anymore, I swear. The apple pie, to me, was not sweet enough, but my bf is a huge lover of apple pie and he devoured it and thought it grand. This is a really nice addition to the Medford breakfast and lunch scene and the owners could not be any nicer. Check this place out!

My Mom and I went here for breakfast on a Saturday morning. This review is for breakfast only. They were busy, but timely. We both ordered omelettes. Not impressed. They were pale yellow and just ok. The potatoes were cut into ridiculously tiny pieces. The service was decent. Infact, the table next to us had three children and had as much food under the table as on it and the staff had it cleaned in minutes. The space is new and clean, although thr decor is sparse and somewhat tacky..... The burgers, however looked awesome.

  • Karin B.

Food was a disappointment after reading other reviews. I paid an extra dollar for ciabatta bread that did not seem homemade and wasn't that good. My sandwich came dry...really bland. Device was lacking, didn't seem too busy...

Awesome service! I have yet to eat anywhere in this valley that has had better service, someone is always checking in on you. I'm sure part of this is that they are still somewhat new but I hope this doesn't wear off. You walk through the diner and practically every staff member is either welcoming you or is telling you thank you as you leave. This isn't just another breakfast place. They have some very unique offerings to choose from and it is all great. I personally love the Cornmeal Buttermilk pancakes but honestly they don't make a bad pancake. I've always had a chip on my shoulder with breakfast places and pancakes. People just don't know what a good pancake is; it's like a race to make the thickest, most overcooked and driest pancake possible. Punky's does it right. Bacon has great flavor. It's not crispy bacon by default but if you are like me you don't care as long as its bacon! Potatoes O'Brien was excellent, normally I like crispy potatoes but I wouldn't change these at all. Chorizo Omelet had great flavor, will get this again. I wish they had more flexibility with their menu, look out for substitution fees and limitations, kind of silly!

The service and decor at Punky's are great, but the food is adequate at best. The most recent time I was there, I ordered an omelette special that was supposed to come with avocado. The omelette was well made (no browning marks on the egg, which means the cooks took their time with a lower heat setting). The server was very apologetic about the missing avocado and went back to the kitchen for it. She brought back a cold bowl of mushy avocado slices that looked like they had been cut the day before and sitting in the refrigerator (turning dark green to light brown). I should have taken a picture. If this is what counts for a special menu item, I'm not impressed. I've been to Punky's several times since it opened, and I really do want to like the place since it's a nice bright spot to just relax and hang out, but there are better venues in town.

Service was excellent! Wife had the BLTTA(Bacon, lettuce, turkey, tomato and avocado) with tater tots, which she said was excellent. I had the Philly cheesesteak which was kind of bland :-(. We will definitely go back.

Another new restaurant for Medford! Woo Hoo! '50's diner food done absolutely right! I had a bowl of yummy chili and a delicious burger with house made potato chips. Yum! My wife had a fish sandwich that was pan-fried, not deep fried. She LOVED it. Good food, good service, great people. Will be back!

My mother recommended Punky's while I was visiting her in Medford. We had one of the best breakfast there that I have had in a while. The home made English muffin toast was yummy. But, the best thing about my visit to Punky's was the service that I received from Marta. What a sweetheart and she has this lovely smile that made my day. Thank you!

I'm updating my review and changing it to five stars- thank you for the response and I agree that the limited hours does allow for you to provide the quality and consistency that I so much appreciate- I also believe that to many cooks can definitely ruin that- thank you again for providing a place that serves good quality made from scratch food!

What a fabulous little diner. Scratch made everything; pies, corned beef hash, sausage patties, the works. Great friendly staff in a cute 50's style place. Oldies playing and all. Don't let the shopping area location fool you, it is completely worth the stop. This is a breakfast, sandwich and pie place, no dinner here!

YUM! Great place for breakfast. lunch and PIE! There's always a dilemma with the BF and I when we travel. Breakfast/Brunch is my fav meal and BF is more of a lunch guy (not so much breakfast). Diners usually have both, so after checking the reviews on Yelp, we decided on Punky's Diner and Pies. Located in a strip mall not far off of I-5, so fairly easy to find. Good amount of seating so luckily there was no wait. Service was really friendly and fast. I got the California Omelette and BF got a burger. My omelette was fluffy and filled with bacon, cheddar and tomato - really good. My order also came with a biscuit which was also very tasty as well. Light and fluffy - love a good biscuit. BF said his burger was okay, but he obviously liked it because he ate every bite as well as all of his fries. Just okay, huh?...... The main reason I wanted to go here was the pie. Seriously probably my favorite desert (other than cobbler), I will gladly admit that I LOVE PIE! Anyway, BF and I both got a slice of cherry pie. I got mine warm, a la mode, and ate every single bite. Delicious! The owner walked by to see how our meal was, and after a small chat, we found out that she makes all of the pies from scratch each day. This pie was probably one of the best pies I've ever had. Crust was flaky and buttery and oh so good. Kind of embarrassing because I scarfed my down and BF couldn't even finish his (he got a to-go box). Anyway, if you are looking for a diner in Medford, or just craving a good piece of pie, go here. You won't be disappointed.

I just got checked into my hotel and I wanted some lunch. Through Yelp I found this place. It's east to find with GPS! It's a 50s - 60s themed diner. That's a little before my time, but I can "dig" it. I think it's locally owned, so that's nicer than some big chain like Denny's. I get a seat easily and just water for me to drink this time. Looking over the menu, I see many of the usual things you'd expect in a diner and breakfast place. Breakfast is served all day. Burgers, Hot Dogs, salads and sandwiches are on offer for lunch. I see a Patty Melt. Burgers here are made with a 1/3 pound patty, so I know that 5oz patty will not be stacking up to my most fave Patty Melt with a 10 oz patty, but that's what I'll go with. I'm on a business trip, and lunch is just gonna be lunch. Service is perky and friendly. My Patty Melt arrives in short order. Yep, looks like a standard Patty Melt alright, served with fries as well. The rye bread is grill well and the grilled onions meld well with the meat. Pretty decent, nothing to complain about at all. Now, I see the pies here are supposed to be the big prize here, so I get a piece of the apple pie. Apple is actually my fave pie, all be it a very common pie, it's just what I like. No ice cream on the side, just the pie, please. On my first bite, wow, that is some tasty pie. The flaky crust was so good! It was like eating pastry with apples inside. The apples were cut well to the correct size to lend enough texture to the morsel of goodness in my mouth. But not over cooked to get mushy. As you can see, I was more excited over my pie than my burger! I'd like to return again when I'm in town just for the pie and maybe another tasty dessert.

"Don't eat there, they shit in the beans" somebody hollered from a passing car as we stepped into Punky's Diner & Pie for lunch. Oregonians are ever so helpful and quick to share. As it turned out, it was a pretty good red and white styled retro diner, spotlessly clean with friendly service and above average diner grub. Even though all the food is made on the premises, my yummy peach and rhubarb preserve included, we passed up on the beans ... just in case! Just kidding, I didn't see any beans on the menu. We'll certainly dine here again.

Nothing too special about this place. Maybe I didn't get the best meal on the menu. Just standard bacon, eggs and pancakes. It was good but not fantastic.

Your run of the mill diner. Good prices, big portions, and friendly staff. Their homemade English muffin bread was easy on the taste buds. No complaints

We've been here twice since moving to Medford, and we LOVE this place. The food is great, the service is friendly and efficient, we have no complaints. Even the bathrooms are nice. :-)

Check this place out!

visiting from out of town and were looking for a decent breakfast place.

Food was a disappointment after reading other reviews. I paid an extra dollar for ciabatta bread that did not seem homemade and wasn't that good. My sandwich came dry...really bland. Device was lacking, didn't seem too busy...

Thank you!
