I've been to Bad Ass in Medford and Hawaii (and I think Chicago) locations and have, until recently, had great experiences. Just a severe disappointment in Medford last visit. It'd been awhile since I've been in, but that is only because I don't get in the Medford area much. I'm used to Bad Ass Coffee being excellent and a nice place to visit. The bitchiness of the barista this last Saturday will keep me from returning to this store. I took my girlfriend in for her first time and when I checked in on Yelp- it gave me a 20% off a specialty drink. How nice, I thought. And it worked out because while I usually go for standard drinks, my girlfriend likes the specialty ones. When I showed this to the barista, however, she had no idea what to do about it and copped an attitude. This is a severe strike. For me, the whole "check in on Yelp" thing has been kind of fun. It reminds me to review a place later when I have more time. And... every once in awhile- it kicks out a deal at the place you are. This has, so far, been an excellent thing. Not only do I get an immediate gratification, but I gain incentive to return soon and often. I can be understanding if someone is new doesn't know what to do. BUT...when you get someone that isn't trained, AND cops an attitude because I'm trying to use THEIR incentive program to get me to come in there??? Also, the waiting and making of the drinks took forever and we were second in line. Tables and just the overall cleanliness of the store were slightly dirty. Yeah, ummmm, NO.

4 STARS: Service 3 STARS: Cold drinks 1 STARS: Kona Coffee 2 STARS: Food The service was great and friendly. We got our drinks and food timely, so I had no issue there. We went there twice and the first time we ordered two cold coffee drinks and they were interesting. I got the chocolate orange coffee thing, it was strange but I would not order that again. There was another cold coffee drink that was good, but overall the drinks were too sweet for me. The second time we went there we had the chicken rice burrito, it was good but not special. Oh, if you order the burrito add lots of hot sauce. The Kona coffee was watery and flavorless. My husband loves coffee so when he only drank a few sips and was done with it, that says A LOT. He would finish diner coffees, hospital cafeteria coffee but not this coffee.

The store was welcoming and not too crowded this morning since it is a decent hike from the Pear Blossom start and finish line. They were so friendly and allowed us to warm up and use the restrooms for the kids. The service was quick and with a great smile though the drinks were not as good as we had hoped. It is often hard to get quality decaf espresso for me but even the other espresso based drink in our group was not ideal. They had a good quality apple juice option for the kids and were not at all put out by their presence given the atmosphere we might have expected from the tone of their name. To explain the name for the kids, one in our group explained that it was just another way to say "naughty donkey" which satisfied their curiosity.

I was facing a 2.5 hour drive home after a conference and needed some caffeine. But I'm not enough of a caffeine addict to drink just anything. Luckily, Yelp led me to this place just blocks from my meeting. 100% Kona coffee and free wi-fi? Nice. The Hawaiian surf shack thing is kinda fun. It seems to be a nice place to hang out for a bit and get some work done. Prices were reasonable, especially for the quality of the coffee. I'll definitely be back when I'm in the area. My coffee was good. They also have a wide variety of slushy coffee confections that looked pretty good too.

Every single time I walk in that door, I am handed a drink that is a "VERSION" of what I order. Every time. If I order a vanilla latte and ask for it to be made with half of the syrup used on a normal drink, I get a sugar free latte. Did I ask for sugar free? Or did I simply ask for less syrup? The OWNER once told me he has a sense about some women's orders, and when they ask for less syrup, they mean they want non-fat milk and sugar free. Again. Did I ask for non-fat milk OR sugar free syrup? Today, my coworkers took a hand written order for iced espresso with vanilla syrup. They came back with an iced vanilla nonfat latte. Did my order say latte? Did it say nonfat milk? I...just do not understand. The baristas are nice enough, but what in the world? Are they trained to not listen or to just infer what the person wants? Totally over it. I don't care anymore. I don't know if this is a policy that is company wide, if they're franchised, or what. I will never go to this coffee shop again. How hard is it to ask a question to clarify an order? Just ask me! Don't assume you know what I want, because as a former barista myself, I know what I want, and I will ask you to remake it if can't do it right the first time. Your job...is not difficult. Totally frustrating and not worth the money.

This was my first time here. We arrived just before the place closed and the young lady did not bother to greet us just said "I have to warn you I close in 5 minutes" We went to pay and could not break the bill we had (she had closed out the till before they closed) and after handing us our coffee told us "You'll have to leave now" So it was really an uninviting experience. THe coffee was weak ( I got an iced latte) but was drinkable. I thought this would be a cool place but next time would probably look for another place that appreciates it's customer more. I hope your experience would be better than mine. Just make sure you get there well before they close!

Outside seating is somewhat poor, Internet connection is usually very slow. But the coffee and the smiles are great.

Selected this place for my coffee/snack pitstop on the way home from Portland. Walked in there about 20 minutes before closing and was warmly welcomed by the girl working the counter. The Kona coffee was fresh and tasty. Ordered a chicken wrap, which the young lady warmed up for me and was prepared to serve to me at the counter. I wanted to sit at the counter and enjoy the place but I needed to get back on the road. Good place. Good coffee. Good food.

I frequent Bad Ass Coffee in Virginia Beach so when I saw a franchise in Medford I was hopeful that I would find the same fantastic Hawaiian coffee. This was not the case. I was the first customer in the restaurant on a weekday at 6:30am and the lone server was busy brewing coffee. I paid almost $3 for a 16oz cup of their "100% Kona" coffee and was told it would be a few minutes while it brewed. I was watching the young lady busily going about her business and was debating about buying some of their packaged coffee to take with me. After about 5 minutes, I stood at the counter impatient for my Kona coffee. As she removed the coffee decanter which contained my precious 100% Kona coffee, I was horrified to see her fill a large plastic pitcher halfway with hot water and dump it into the freshly brewed coffee!!! I thought I must be seeing things. She pumped my cup from the container and presented me with my $3 cup of coffee. I walked outside, waited for it to cool slightly and the first sip told me that my eyes had not deceived me...it was a watery, bland imitation of the beautiful coffee I always received at Bad Ass Virginia Beach. I was so disappointed that I went right back inside and told her it tasted "watery". I don't blame the young lady as I'm sure she is only making the coffee as she was told to make it. However, I hope the owner realizes that when a customer pays a premium price for what is supposed to be a premium product, it is dishonest to dilute the product and pass it off as the real thing. Shame on Bad Ass Coffee in Medford for taking a beautiful coffee and ruining it. I can't believe the great reviews of this place. Perhaps this is a "new" way to make coffee that they just started? I suggest they tell the truth on their menu and advertise a new blend: 50% Kona and 50% hot water. Yuck!

Love the coffee! Best blended coffee in the area (and yes, this includes Dutch Bros). The only thing is they need better tables and chairs for sitting outside. If not for this, I'd give them a 5-star rating.

Who can go wrong with 100% Kona coffee? Add in free wifi and I wished I could move in and make the Bad A** Coffee Company my new office. Perched on a stool at the counter, I waited for my coffee to brew and my computer to boot. A colorful display of magnets captured my attention and gave me a morning chuckle. The barista was relieved at my patience - her coworker had called in sick and she was harried, serving the morning rush of caffeine addicts both in the store and through a drive up window, while answering the constantly-ringing phone! She handled it with grace and humor, which was appreciated. Coffee was hot and tasty. A cup of pure Kona will cost you slightly more than regular joe, but it's worth it!
