i ordered the shrimp yakisoba and the moby dick roll (ginormous!) the shrimp yakisoba was overly black peppered so much that it was really spicy. they were really skimpy on the shrimp, 4 very small pieces. if they leave out the black pepper and put more shrimp, it would've ben really super delicious. (note to the chef) the moby dick roll was the biggest sushi roll i've ever seen. i was only able to eat 2 pieces. probably big enough for 2 people, no need to order anything else.

This was the BIGGEST Sushi and BEST Sushi in Medford!!! Prices are good especially for the size. Normally we spend $100, here we spent $60 and are taking food home. Very good!!!

The sushi was great, they gave us large portions on the combo plate and the rolls are GIGANTIC! Def recommend this place.

I've been here several times now. It's true that the sushi portions are wildly huge. That is a plus in my book. Yes - it is hard to not have the sushi pieces fall apart, which is a drawback. Consider under-ordering because of portion size. Both the beef and pork BBQ are good, with the pork being slightly better. The teriyaki was forgettable. I tell my co-workers about the place because it is such a good deal, and I worry they will go out of business due to that. Rarely many people in the restaurant. It is definitely worth a visit.

A friend & I visited this restaurant for the 1st time today because it'd been recommended to us. Omg - YUMMY! I had the Teriyaki Chicken, which was the best I've had. Other places make it too sweet. This was perfect. The BEST part of the meal came as an unexpected surprise - the SALAD! Just a normal side salad with cucumber slices... but the salad dressing was phenomenal, a dressing I hadn't previously tasted. I asked the waitress (very friendly, not intrusive) what kind of dressing was on my salad, that it was amazing. She told me that the chef makes that himself. If I'm remembering correctly, she said it was a lemon ginger dressing. I would BUY this dressing if he bottled it. It made a regular, sometimes boring, side salad a very nice addition to the main dish. Great service - friendly waitress & chef. Super-clean restaurant & bathrooms. Got our meals fast - but it was a very late 3pm lunch & we were the only customers so I don't know how the service is when they are busy. Weren't rushed out, felt totally welcome to sit & visit with my friend for a half hour. Will definitely be going back.

I never write reviews, i never care enough to do so. However, i downloaded this app just to say how terrible this sushi was. Ok fine the rolls were huge, i could give a rip about that. The taste and the way they were made was atrocious. Im not a sushi snob but Ive had alot of sushi in many different cities and know the differences in how the fish should be cut, the color it should be etc.. First, the yellowtail looked like it had been hacked with a woodcutting axe and pushed into a ball of rice. It was all different colors, it smelled and tasted horrid. My tuna was edible, slightly better, but was pushed into a ball of rice with a pile of "crab" that had definitely been mixed with mayonnaise YUCK. Im really hoping i dont get sick. DO NOT go here if you are a seeker of good sushi.

This had to be some of the worst sushi I've ever had. The sushi person ( I can't say he was a chef) made me 2 rolls that looked more like snow balls than rolls. The taste of the fish yellow tail was very odd. I hope I don't get sick! I won't be back. Beware!

The slabs of salmon were too thick. The rolls were the size of burritos. I could not finish eating it.

Rolls are huge and worth every bit of the effort it took to eat them! Fresh and delicious! Clean and enjoyable atmosphere. I get tired of many of the self -important Yelp reviewers spewing negative energy. If you didn't like because it was too large for you, eat somewhere else. Not paying is disgraceful. Giving one star is possibly dooming a nice local business to failure. The one man staff who helped us did not speak much English, but he smiled at us and offered us more service than most English speaking people do these days. Made my day!

Good owner and good atmosphere. Sushi shari (Vinegar rice) is too salty for me. but as long as they can keep business with this taste for almost 10 years at there, it should be OK for local people. Sushi neta (sliced sea food) is big. if you want really eat Sushi kind, this restaurant is better choice.

I ordered chicken yakisoba, very generous serving, there could have been more and larger than 1/2" bites of chicken in it for my personal preference, but it was delicious! I would order it again, it was worth it!

So... this place is weird. First off, the rolls are huge. Like, gigantic. We ordered three rolls and they were at least 5-6" thick. Crazy. They weren't cut into pieces so, we attempted to do so. After butchering them and having everything fall apart, they were still so big we couldn't even taste everything in the roll. It was like a huge chunk of fish, a mouthful of avocado, or just a huge ball of rice. It was awful and took forever to eat. It's frustrating when you're hungry but can't even eat your food because it's so big and falling apart as you try to cut it. Anyway, despite that, I read that you can order "regular sized" rolls, so we decided to give them another chance. We called for take out and asked for the normal size. When we went to pick it up, the rolls were huge, again. We asked that they re-do the order to the regular size, like we asked, and the chef refused. Huh. The waiter even checked the order and had written "regular size." Apparently the chef just didn't see it, but again, still blamed the customer and wouldn't re-do the order. Awkward. He began to chop it up, but, the pieces were just of fish, a chunk of avocado, or rice, etc... We'd like to taste all of it together in one piece. Sadly, we had to walk out. We weren't wiling to pay for something that 1). we didn't order and 2). was impossible to eat. I don't understand why the chef wouldn't re-do our order, because then we would've happily paid for our food. But we won't pay for something we didn't order and he wasn't willing to make right. The place was empty on a Friday night, which speaks volumes. We went to Wasabi on Crater Lake Ave., which had a 30-minute wait and was packed. They have great service, fresh fish, and always get our order right. I recommend them. Very disappointed and am sorry to say I doubt this new sushi business will be here long. We were excited because it's the closest sushi restaurant to our home, but sadly, will not be going back.

Not really sure why people are all up in arms about the size of the rolls... They really are THE BIGGEST rolls I've ever seen. And good. As far as bang for your buck is concerned this is the place. And it's not all rice either. There's a lot of fish in ea roll. Service is nice and friendly. Average for speed on takeouts but I would come again for food.

Really enjoyed the spicy chicken bulgogi, the salad and fried rice I tried. I did not, however, enjoy the sushi. Like others have said, they are waaaayyyy too big to enjoy. Each slice is like 3-4 bites big and you end up eating each ingredient by itself while you helplessly try to salvage the roll as it falls through your fingers - collapsing in a pile of mush on your plate. When we went, there was only 1 guy working. He was taking orders and cooking all by himself, and he was having a hard time understanding us. Service was a tad slow because of this, and we didn't like how we were served at the same time.

The food is good but the service is not. The main guy does not speak English and he is often the only one there making it hard for him to serve more than 2 people in a timely manner. He's always out of stuff too and he just yells, "No!" While pointing to something else on the menu! He got mad at us for getting ourselves water when he was too busy! I avoid going there just because he actually stresses me out!

I might be a little biased as I am so excited to have a real sushi bar with in walking distance to my office. I sat at the bar for lunch. Great/giant pieces of fish and rolls. So big that they are a little hard to eat comfortably. But i got a big mouth..... so no problem. Excellent rice (sushi rice obviously prepared with proper technique and seasoned beautifully). Service quick and efficient enough to get in and out over lunch "hour" with time to spare. So happy in my sushi belly as I write this. Back at Ami after they closed for several months due to the proprietor having some health issues. I'm like a kid in a sushi store :). So happy that the owner is healthy again and back making the best sushi in Southern Oregon. I love this place

I often go to sushi restaurants but seldom order sushi and here was no exception. For lunch I tried their "Korean" vegetable fried rice with chicken added. It was a little peppery but better than many places. There wasn't much chicken added though. I like to see one of these Korean operators of Japanese restaurants open a Korean restaurant for a change. Korean food features more vegetables than Japanese food. (The American style Italian and Mexican restaurants are also wary of vegetables except for lettuce. And why is it so important to serve garlic bread with pasta dishes? I haven't been keen on large servings of carbohydrates since discontinuing multi-mile runs.)

I absolutely love this restaurant. While the size of the roll is amazing and too big for some, I think it is a great value and if you eat it with your fingers, you will get all the flavors in 1 bite. Everywhere else I go now, I don't feel like I get all the flavors possible. Also, their customer service and kindness cannot be overlooked. We took a group of 11 friends and they stayed open late and even let our late friends order after closing. This is what a restaurant should strive to be.
