I was admittedly unprepared when I got in line to place my order tonight. Luckily, I was the last one in line for the entirety of my visit. The girl helping me was extremely nice- surprisingly so. I was so relieved at her willingness to walk me through a menu I know all too well; it was a long, stressful day and I was more or less out of it. She deserves serious credit for her patience with my spaciness. She also did a great job of assembling a trio of giant burritos, which although not mind-blowing, were tasty and hot and I didn't have to do anything. The counter was clean and everything looked fresh and neat. The whole restaurant was neat and well maintained. It seems like a great place to stop on my way home- especially because they have daily deals, and are close to the freeway. I'm still unhappy with the general closing before posted times, and the fact that the restaurant closes at 9 on the latest day. I'm on a quest for Hillsboro restaurants that understand that some of us have long days!

I should know better than to go in here when I have no time but need food. Everytime it's just bad food. Today's miss, the fish tacos, or should I say, the fish "stick" tacos. Literally watched the man unload two fish sticks from broiler into my tortilla. Ugh! The guy that I assumes owns the joint because he's always there and always running the register just makes me think that he is cracking a whip somewhere and these women slinging meat and cheese around are his minions. He might be a perfectly nice guy, but he always puts me in the mind of a guy whose protecting his money. I shouldn't need to write a review, I think we all know it's bad, but I wish McDonald's did not have the line it did today, at leat the food tastes like gourmet compared to this. Avoid the fish sticks here people. It's not worth $4

The workers behind the counter grimaced as I walked in on a regular Thursday evening. The lady mumbled something inaudibly so I said "Huh?". "WHAT kind of tortilla?" she said, agitated. After the mean-spirited lady finished most of my burrito production, she informed me sour cream is an extra charge. What? These ladies need an attitude adjustment.

Been going here for a couple weeks. Not as good as Chipotle. But it was less money. They had a deal for a wet burrito with chips and drink for 8 dollars. The wet burrito is a burrito with sauce and cheese layered on the outside. I didn't particular care for the sauce or cheese on the outside so I asked them to just leave as a burrito. Well because I did that I was charged for a normal burrito combo which came out as 9.25. I honestly don't care about the money but why would you charge me more when I cost you less? Same burrito without the sauce and cheese. You punish the customer for not getting everything on it. You use less condiments. Never the less I will just stick to Chipotle. They have better meats and vegetables anyways.

My family loves to eat here and at the other one that they own by Fred Meyer on Imbrie. They are always friendly and their service is fast. Since we have so many different food needs in our family this place is great for us. My husband is gluten-free. I try to do no sugar no refined flours and my kids are just picky. We can all find something to eat here. It's good for fast food mexican and the owners are very nice and they have low worker turn over.

Food is good. But I think owner's have the right to know. These 2 ladies tonight were very rude and did not listen to directions very well. They gave attitudes with heads bobbin, mean face, ready to kick my ass. I kindly asked for an exact burrito just like the one I previously had them make, but they made something totally different. Not wanting to have them get even more upset in front of my kids, I just said don't worry about it and paid for it. I believe out of spite they charged me wrong. And they did not like me asking questions about what I could eat tonight there. I walked in there expecting to eat a burrito, instead I got a little piece of humble pie. This sure was an exercise for my faith! I don't feel comfortable going there anymore. If I were the owner I would do some serious customer service training. Hopefully things will change!!

Been here a couple of times so I think it deserves a review. It's a "Mexican" place in the loosest sense of the term. More Mexican style, much like you can't call taco bel real Mexican food. This is a small quick serve chain. They aren't terrible, but I've rarely been impressed by the offerings. The fish tacos are kind of a steamed reheated thing. Not very good. The ground beef tends to be a bit greasy. The carnitas isn't bad for fast food. It's similar to a Rubio's or Baja Fresh, but sadly nowhere near as good. The service is fast and very friendly, places I've been are always clean and nice. It just seems like the food isn't all that great. But it's Mexican in Oregon, so, it's hard to find. And for a guy who has lived in the south west, it's hard to impress me being as how I know what true and good Mexican IS supposed to be. The kids like it (all mild flavors) so it's not a bad thing. Just not what you might hope for if you're looking for Mexican.

First they add an ingredient, then they ask you if you wanted it afterwards. They do not care what you want. Also, I stopped asking for fish - they make a big deal about having to go "in the back" to find fish. Sometimes they run out of fish... even though their name ends in Del Mar?!

  • Mindy K.

I got the 2 tacos and sides for $6 special. The chicken tacos were pretty big. Okay taste. Beans and rice were not good. That's all.

  • Matt R.

Typically I get the mondo burrito (chicken and black beans), but today and decided to switch things up and get tacos...one pork, one chicken. They were very good. I was a little concerned about the amount of juice that settled at the bottom of the tin foils boat each was resting in, but I guess that is why they created the boats. The restaurant only had one other family there. And only one more came in during our visit. Clean. Good food. I recommend it.

  • Adrian C.

I get the burrito with no meat and even though they have no grilled veggies the burrito is still really good. They have a punch card as well so every 10th(I think)burrito is free. They can be really busy at lunch time so maybe go later if you can.

Taco Del Mar is a fresh, fast food Mexican chain I can tell you that their items are not plain! The concept of Taco Del Mar is similar to Chipotle The decor is more Carribean beach than your typical "Ole" Using healthy items and working on flavor Item worth trying: "Mondo Burrito" - you will definitely savor The Mondo Burrito is quite gigantic! Don't eat ALL of this in front of your date, it's NOT romantic! What's cool is that you can custom make your food Just make sure you know what you want to exclude All of the customizing can be overwhelming But if you have to try this, you may feel like you've had a "happy ending"! They do cater to vegetarian and vegans Which is nice to see in the HIllsboro regions So is this place worth checking out? I'm sure with the various Mexican places you may have doubts For Taco Del Mar isn't the best nor the worst I usually would go to the more authentic places first Or a downtown Portland place like Santeria (for drunken Mexican fixes) Overall, a decent option if you're quite hungry and in the area PDX 30 Day Yelp Challenge #19 of 30

Taco del mar is always a good go to. I work across the street so I eat there often. They have cheap tacos o. Taco Tuesday so that is always awesome. The staff is friendly and quick. Not sure what more you can ask for!

This Taco Del Mar lives up to my expectations of what TDM is supposed to be. Fresh food, bold tastes and good customer service. The Mondo Burrito is my favorite on their menu and it can be custom-created as you move down the serving line. Try the wheat tortilla over the flour one. The quesadillas are good too. This location and the one in downtown Hillsboro are far superior to the one on Imbrie Dr.

I'm not a vegetarian, but sometimes I am just not interested in meat, like for days at a time. RIght now is one of those times. I don't know why, but anyway. I've been looking for more meat-free options at lunch, and a quick look at Taco Del Mar's menu showed they tout "vegetarian/vegan" options. So, I got a mondito burrito, my usual, but this time without any meat. Just beans, rice, cheese, sour cream, pico de gallo and guacamole. Yum! Whole wheat tortilla even! However, I asked at the very beginning if I could get it without meat and seeing that it's an advertised option, assumed that meant more beans and rice to compensate. That's an incorrect assumption. Smaaaaall burrito. It was like Taco Bell bean burrito size. Okay, so you can get a bigger burrito with meat, or a smaller burrito without meat. Same price. Got it. Eh, I need some lessons in portion control anyway. Friendly and fast service....and I love places that have lemon wedges that I can squeeze into my Coke, so there's that too.

I like stopping by when I go shopping over at the nearby Costco. I usually have the burrito. I've discovered that you can add or eliminate some of the main ingredients (such as asking for no rice). It helps make it a bit better. Can't say its the most tasty place and this particular location seems to be about a $1 high on the combo meal as compared to other Taco Del Mar locations. The staff is friendly. It is a limited menu.

  • Alexandra A.

This is a good place for a quick & good lunch. They have lots of locations. The food is good especially for a fast food place. I really like the burrito bowls. It's a good size for lunch and easy to take back to the office. Very flavorful and they offer a fair amount of options for the burrito bowls. Something else I like is the mondo burrito which is quite large and if you can finish that I'm impressed! I was close in my big eating days which crop up frequently but still couldn't quite finish it.

Taco Del Mar literally translates to Taco of the Sea. I go here for their Fish Tacos. They are pretty damn good. They are not deep fried, and you usually have to wait an extra 5 minutes for fish. You get your choice of tortilla, lettuce or cabbage, several salsas, pico de gallo, lime, and spicy white sauce. It's pretty inexpensive, and there are pretty big chain of them all over the place. I'm a fan!

  • Robert K.

My wife and I are longtime fans of Taco Del Mar. The food is good and seems very healthy. However, our experience at this store on this day was unacceptable. My wife always orders the small burrito (Mondito) without the tortilla, and so they make it in a bowl. When we got to the cashier, the man charged us for a Burrito Bowl, which is $1.50 more. When I told him we had ordered the Mondito burrito without a tortilla, he said, "there is no such thing!" I told him we had ordered it that way many times in the past and at several different TDM stores. He said that is impossible and that I was wrong, basically calling me a liar. He was adamant that I could not be telling the truth and was very rude about it. It would have been more customer service appropriate to say something like, "Our employees should not have done it that way. That was a mistake" or even, "it shouldn't have been done that way, but I will just charge for a Mondito this time." I left feeling angered and with my blood pressure up. I will continue to eat at Taco Del Mar, but will not patronize this location again.

This newer location is a block from the Hillsboro airport and with in the parking lot of Costco. The same as any Taco Del Mar. You go in and its like a subway. Choose what you want and what you want on it. Prices bellow $10. Indoor seating, but no patio. Service is good. They really work hard to help people.

About Taco Bell

Taco Bell is a haven for Mexican delicacies such as tacos, quesadillas, burritos, nachos, and other specialty items. Owned by Yum! Brands, Inc. Taco Bell is one of the fastest growing American chains of fast food restaurants. The restaurant operates from 7,072 different locations which are mostly run by independent franchisees and licensees.

The background story of Taco Bell is interesting and inspiring for budding entrepreneurs. The fast-food brand is the brainchild of Glen Bell, who started his first food venture as a hot dog seller in San Bernardino, California. The year was 1948. After witnessing long queues outside a Mexican restaurant called Mitla Café across the street, Bell saw the opportunity and demand for hard-shelled Tacos. He reverse-engineered the recipe and later started selling Tacos and called the venture Taco-Tia.

Later, the name changed from Taco-Tia to El Taco. Eventually, Glen Bell sold the company to his partner and opened the first Taco Bell in Downey in 1962. By 1964, the restaurant also got its first franchise in Torrance. The 100th Taco Bell restaurant was opened by 1965. PepsiCo acquired Taco Bell from Glen Bell in 1978 and the restaurant brand is currently a subsidiary of Yum! Brands which looks after the restaurant business of PepsiCo.

An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.

Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque.
