Absolutely amazing food and service!! Will be back again with friends. Very cozy atmosphere, my kid and I loved the gelato. Thank you!!

Nothing special at all. Went twice for lunch, got dragged by some colleagues. Too bad we didn't go to Vivi's instead! Both times the place was empty, which says something! The food is nothing special, and I got sick after I had the Caesar salad with chicken, so be careful what you order!

We have been meaning to drop in, you know how you pass a place and think "We should try that...." but you never do? Well, they've been here 8 months. It's right up the street, and I pass it all the time, but today, we decided, let's just do it! Glad we did. Pasta is the thick spaghetti, I prefer angel hair, but it was okay. The sauce was very good, and the meatballs are homemade. My daughter had the special, wow, house made spinach noodles with tomatoes and mozzarella--fresh mozzarella. Yummy. Since it was our first visit, he supplied a salad, which we appreciated because we'd have split one. And it was good. The gelato was nice, and he also made for my husband a great ice cream coffee drink...He announced it was wonderful. We even got some Italian lessons! Fun little place. I enjoyed it for lunch. The bread was wonderful.

A great place to have lunch, reasonable prices for Italian food in Hillsboro. The chef was friendly and we will definitely come back again.

Finally an authentic Italian restaurant in Hillsboro! I expect great things of this one. Excellent, relatively short menu (about 20 items) but ambitious. Not the blah meatball places I usually see around here. Chef owner Benito takes great pride in the ingredients. Focaccia and bread from Grand Central bakery, fresh dish of hand grated Parmesan came with my pasta. Nice white table cloths with clean butcher paper & flowers on tables made for nice ambiance . My agilio and olio was seasoned nicely & pasta was al dente. Not gloppy over-sauced pasta. Will return to try his dinner menu which has specials daily. Gelato stricerello was divine dessert

We found this nice little Italian place very close to us. Really good food and an amazing story of working hard to become chef and owner. They are very personable as well. They catered to us as if we were family. Very hard to find that nowadays.

Best Italian food in the area! Benito is a trained chef who makes all the food from scratch, We love his tortellini, lasagna, rigatoni bolognese, crab ravioli, and linguine with clam sauce. We've brought friends there last Sunday who absolutely loved the food. Great Italian wines and bread as well. We will frequent this restaurant often and bring more friends.

Great food in a cute little cafe. The food is very authentic Italian! I had fettuccini alfredo with prawns. Lots of garlic and huge fresh prawns. Their bread is super good and the Tiramisu is to die for. I would have liked some fresh parm at the table and butter with the bread instead of olive oil - but I'll just ask for that next time. Overall it was great - we will be back. I'm already thinking about another piece of that tiramisu!

I really wanted to like this place. Italian in Hillsboro would be really good. Good Italian would be even better. Especially in this strip mall of somewhat mediocre restaurants. Yah. Not today I'm afraid. Dining companion and I arrived about 4pm on a Sunday. There were two four top tables occupied. There were also two four tops with dirty dishes and the rest of the tables were pushed together in two groups of 3-4 tables and covered with dirty dishes and glassware. The nice lady scrambled to clean up the table by the window for us. She put clean butcher paper on top of the dirty tablecloth. Yuck. The two grouped sets of tables stayed unbussed until we were ready to leave. I'm pretty sure only the nice lady and the cook were working today. But still. Yuck. Brought us menus, bread, and a carafe of water which dining companion noted had some black specks in it. After I found a lemon seed in my water we figured there was probably lemon in it. But no obvious slices. We decided to attribute the black matter to the absentee lemons. We call that compartmentalization. It's a coping skill. The menu looked good. Heavy on the beef. Companion does not eat beef. He ordered penne pesto. I ordered squash ravioli with marinara thinking maybe it'd be zucchini squash inside? They were out of calamari so we started with scampi. Salad would have been preferable but it was expensive I thought. Five nicely cooked shrimp arrived in a pool of garlic butter with a piece of garlic bread. The shrimp had some kind of slimy coating on them I decided was garlic and friend declared was cornstarch. They tasted good. Pet peeve: shared appetizers should be in even numbers. I had to cut the fifth shrimp in half. Lame. The penne in the pasta pesto was not al dente. A little over. And the pesto lacked that brightness of basil dining companion expected. He thought the pesto was maybe from frozen? It had a weird slimy texture. Like baby food. My ravioli were, on the other hand, a touch under. Filled with blue cheese and butternut squash, they arrived on a sloppy plate with marinara, an oil slick, some burned sage some fried some twigs, and some little chunks/ some gratings of parmesan. So...I didnt notice menu saying blue cheese. To be fair I may have missed it. Blue cheese and marinara don't go together nicely. Browned butter would have been better. Hold the tomato. Some of the ravioli were really blue cheesey some werent. Super uneven. Some tasted better than others. I pointed out that meant they were homemade cuz manufactured ravioli would be uniform, right? Even though an adorable old lady next to us got birthday tiramisu that looked good, we skipped it. Done. Why three points? Nice server lady. Water carafe no waiting for water refills. Reasonable pacing of food. Food was hot. It had potential. ( Yah I date like this too) Bread was good with generous refill. I may or may not go back.I'll watch yelp reviews to see if things change for the better. A girl can be hopeful. Dining companion disagrees. Says to tell you Noodles and Co has better pesto. Or go to Caro Amico or Piazza Italia. He's not completely wrong this time.

I'm really torn about the rating to give. Three stars feels a bit mean, but truly, I don't think the place was worth four. The food was...just okay. The atmosphere was barely okay. The waitstaff was okay. The food was actually better the next day when I was home & there was salt to add to it. I had the Rigatoni Bolognese. It desperately needed salt. Husband had Fettuccini Alfredo & while he liked it, son & I tasted it, & we both thought the flavor was a bit off. Son said this lasagna was good. We split the antipasto plate before dinner. The meats were good, though not very plentiful, we didn't enjoy the one kind of olive on the plate, & the chunks of cheese (Parmesan?) were horrible. Not an appetizer worth $10. I also HATE having to ask to have my water refilled. They had several flavors of Gelato, but none appealed to me. The guys said theirs were okay. So overall, dinner was okay, & yes, we did have an appetizer, 3 dinners, & 2 small desserts, but it's a little tough to mentally justify spending over $60 at a strip mall restaurant. A few other reviewers compared this place to Piazza Italia in The Pearl, but Piazza NAILS the atmosphere & authenticity. Bellino's falls a bit short.

To be honest, there's not a lot of good Italian food in the area. I was very pleased to visit this place for the first time and have an excellent experience. The chef is really friendly and genuinely wants you to have a special experience in his restaurant. I ordered the lunch special, which was spaghetti with calamari and clams in the shell. I honestly don't know why I chose it, since I usually dislike clam sauce pasta. It turned out to be a surprisingly great decision! It was a light red sauce instead of the usual creamy white sauce in seafood pasta, and the spaghetti itself was very fresh. I have heard some mixed reviews from other patrons, and the only answer I can think of is that most people are probably more used to American Italian food, which is heavier in flavor. I like that too (I eat Pizza Hut a lot haha), but it is very refreshing to have a real (and affordable) Italian restaurant in Hillsboro.

I have to say that I was disappointed with my recent visit. I went here with my wife after she had heard the place was great and looking at some of the yelp reviews. It's kind of a small place and maybe it's really more of a lunch spot. We were the only ones there for dinner until another couple showed up. The meal comes with bread and olive oil and balsamic vinegar. The oil and vinegar come in a very small bowl, so since oil and vinegar don't mix, all you get is oil. Asked for vinegar on the side and it took quite a while to come. The pasta dishes come and are as advertised. Pretty delicious, but while the portions are probably what I should eat, I wasn't full and neither was my wife. And since no salad and/or soup appetizer, it just was really a puny meal. Come on, $25 for I think I'm being generous, $5 worth of ingredients (no meat in either of our dishes). I should be walking out full and often with Italian places, you leave with leftovers. Quality was fine, but this place just didn't strike the chord for a return visit for me.

Food was very good. Rustic and simple. Ingredients were fresh. Don't be fooled or make judgments about the location or appearance. Food is good and cooked well.

So glad I finally tried this place! I had recently noticed it hidden in the strip mall - where it is hard to see from the road. The owners were very friendly. Good Italian wine selection. Really liked the pear and goat cheese salad and their special of the evening, spinach ravioli. When I mentioned I was thinking about the gelato, we were brought a plate with a taste of each on a spoon nicely laid out. The hazelnut was the best! Nice to have an Italian place close by in Hillsboro. Will definitely return.

3 stars out of 5 overall. Room to improve for sure. Taste: 4 out of 5. Service: 5 out of 5. Odd-factor: 2 out of 5. :( Sorry. I decided to stop in for some dinner out and came across this place... They've just been open for less than a week! Figured.."Why not give it a shot? Pasta sounds good." My usual stops are Thai Princess or Kokiyo Teriyaki. First impressions: TV showing a soccer match in Spanish? Really? I thought wait a second.. Is this place an Italian restaurant, or what? Ok.. "Pasta & Cafe".. Not Italian restaurant.. Ok give them a pass on that one. Meal: Spaghetti cooked aldente just the way I like it.. Meatballs tasted fresh..Tasty sauce. No complaints on taste. One thing that bugged me though is that a soup or salad wasn't included with the entree. Or even the option for a $2 side-salad. Dining room: Tables are great I like the black cloth and the chairs were comfortable. I dunno...maybe I expect a little Italian music or lights on a dimmer...but I keep forgetting "Pasta & Cafe"...not Italian restaurant... The fridges in view with all the bottled beverages...I have mixed feelings about...it's not a 7-Eleven folks! If I'm in the mood for some pasta, good bread, olive oil & balsamic..I'll come back for a visit. Otherwise I'll wait to head over to the Old Spaghetti factory for a more authentic Italian meal. :) The food is good don't get me wrong...beats frozen pasta meals from the grocery...but the whole package just left me wondering..."What are they going for here? - other than high margins? (Pasta & Coffee drinks)"

So far, VERY good. Being a transplant from the Jersey/NYC metro area, one of the biggest things I miss is good Italian food. I've tried the foo-fooey 'Italian' restaurants in Portland, they were okay, but this spot is right on for good home cooked food. I happened to catch their sign 'Italian cafe' like it was a beacon calling to me. I can see why this place isn't more hopping on a Monday night. Tucked into a strip mall that is....well....a bit seedy. It's also a bit hidden behind the Burgerville. Convinced my eating partner in crime to take 'just one more shot' at finding a decent Italian joint in the area. I stopped in for some take out. First impressions, just like an upscale pizzeria you would find in NJ. Friendly staff who answered my questions and helped me right away. Ordered a pomodoro type of dish (angle hair with tomatoey-basily-garlicky type of dish), a lasagna for my other half, and a side salad. Dishes were prepared in a timely manner and packaged up with some of that crusty bread. Oh, and I felt 'green' for a moment, they don't use Styrofoam...instead it is this insulating plastic type of container. Worked out just fine. Got home to dig in. I was so excited, my car smelled like a vampires nightmare (garlicky). Ripped open our food and was very much in for a surprise. It was actually really good. Sorry for sounding so cynical, but this is the type of food that is typically not good at all in this area. My pasta was not heavy. Very light medley of basil and garlic with a ton of fresh tomatoes. The lasagna was not a sauce covered pile of pasta. It looked and smelled delicious. My male does not like Italian food too much. However, he said it was very good and he would definitely order it again. His only gripe was that it was not big enough for his appetite. The salad was super fresh (it was a mix of different lettuces and tomatoes) and the balsamic dressing is really good. I'm usually not a fan of balsamic b/c it gives me heartburn (go figure). But this was not too vinigary and just really good. Would I go back here again, ABSOLUTELY.

After reading few yelp reviews,we decided to check this place for dinner. The interior was not fancy but clean and simple. The service was pretty good .They serve complementary bread with olive oil to dip it in but the bread was little tough to eat.We ordered bruschetta for appetizer and wow it was yummy ! The base was crispy and the tomatoes on top was so fresh and flavourful ! We got stuffed squash ravioli and capelloni for main course. Both were yummy. For a party of 2,it came upto 32 dollars. If you wanted to try some authentic italian food , you should definitely give this restaurant a try.

Love this restaurant! FAMILY owned, great chef. FRESH made. Chef and his wife care about their customers. Visit #1 - me = risotto (terrific); hubby lasagna (great!); visit #2 - me Spaghetti Aglio (FANTASTIC); hubby Panini (terrific). Visit #3 - me tortellini (YUM); lasagna to go for hubby as he was working (great). I even tried both panna cotas (take home) and both were terrific. We love to support family owned businesses. REALLY wonderful food, large portions! You gotta try it!

What a pleasant surprise to find such authentic, home made Italian food in a small cafe in Hillsboro! Chef, while not Italian, prepared some of the best fresh pasta I've ever had!! I had the salmon ravioli with lemon cream sauce...to DIE for!! We also had the lasagne and pasta pommodoro. All were very fresh and surprisingly light. We shared a single Cesar salad and was plenty for all three of us, and the croutons were home made from their delish bread. Dessert was blackberry gelato and lemon cake. Both were AMAZING! Definitely worth the price! Excellent food, great service!

This place was great for lunch. Authentic feel with reasonable prices and very tasty dishes. I got the Rigatoni with Bolognese. You can also buy Gelato there! The owner was extremelt friendly and chatted with me and some friends for a few minutes after the meal. This place feels criminally under-appreciated - not many people were there.

Great Italian food! We just discovered this place today & will definitely be back! The Oxtail was fantastic. Very good pasta & lasagna al forno. We are always on the hunt for authentic homemade Italian food & have found it here. Great service by the chef himself & his wife! Looking forward to bringing friends here on our next visit!

Really fantastic Italian comfort food!!! We used to frequent Piazza Italia downtown Portland. This place is owned by a guy who has been their chef since 2000. And his food is exactly the same here. Perfectly seasoned, garlicy and good! He makes his own Gelato too. YUM! Highly recommend the Lasagna and the Aglio Olio. We didn't realize it was the same chef, and my husband and I remarked that the food is indistinguishable from our favorites down at PI in PDX. When we struck up a conversation with the chef, we realized why!! Super nice guy and really fantastic food!

Holy cow. Gnocchi was amazing-they made it without nuts for me, and they were little pillows of heaven. Amazing. My husband ordered us a "side" of risotto, but was actually a full portion freshly made, perfectly cooked with mushrooms and totally delicious. Small family run business that I am proud to give my patronage to. A-mazing!!! And, married in to a family of VERY picky eating Italians, this restaurant hit the cuisine out of the park! So much so, my father-in-law has had dinner here Friday AND Saturday this week. SO AWESOME!!!

Wrote a review back in January and thought the place terrific. My wife and I have started going here on a regular basis, once a week. The food quality is top notch. Today we had the special which was mussels and calamari in a tomato sauce. The mussels were amazing, soft, tasty, cooked perfectly as was everything else. The bread is from Grand Central in Portland and is the best bread we've ever gotten at a restaurant. We also had the calamari appetizer and the quality, again, was great. The calamari is cooked to perfection and exactly the same as it was in January. The outstanding aspect of this restaurant in the consistency in quality and preparation. We've also had the potato gnocchi which are small clouds of light airy wonderfulness! The one reviewer that said the portions are skimpy must be wildly overweight as we always have enough to take home for a second meal. The owner is personable and attentive. He loves it when a diner will use the bread to sop up whatever sauce is left. The man is an artist. oh, one word of caution: the parking lot is hell at 11:30, people are constantly circling because there are 9 food places in this little strip mall. So, we wait and go at 1pm.

Authentic, uncompromising quality at a reasonable price. My wife had the Rigatoni and I had the spaghetti and meatballs for dinner. We thought it was one of the best meals we've had in quite some time. As of Aug, 2015, they've only been open about 7 months, and it looks to us like they are an undiscovered gem.

I have eaten here a few times now I work in the area. I really have enjoyed the pasta and the sandwiches. I have had a few different pastas, I really liked the linguine with clams. The caprese sandwich is good, and the prosciutto sandwich is tasty too. I am not a huge spaghetti and meatball fan but I decided to give it a shot here, the meatballs were excellent and I'm sure if you like spaghetti it would be great. I am in agreement with the other reviewer that including a salad with the pasta would be great or having the option of a side salad would also be good. I think the music and decor take this from a five star review to a four star review. I am not a fan of the music they had playing nor am I a fan of soap operas and soccer. I really do enjoy the food though and will likely use this as a food to go establishment. I wish them the best and hope they succeed.

Good food, but odd location. The Alfredo was tasty, but overall felt like the restaurant could use a little polish for the price point. Would love to see a lunch menu. Also, maybe include a salad? The bread was tasty and we also got a nice Caprese salad. This place looks like someone's labor of love and I hope it succeeds.

After witnessing long queues outside a Mexican restaurant called Mitla Café across the street, Bell saw the opportunity and demand for hard-shelled Tacos. He reverse-engineered the recipe and later started selling Tacos and called the venture Taco-Tia.

Later, the name changed from Taco-Tia to El Taco. Eventually, Glen Bell sold the company to his partner and opened the first Taco Bell in Downey in 1962. By 1964, the restaurant also got its first franchise in Torrance. The 100th Taco Bell restaurant was opened by 1965. PepsiCo acquired Taco Bell from Glen Bell in 1978 and the restaurant brand is currently a subsidiary of Yum! Brands which looks after the restaurant business of PepsiCo.

Italian Cuisine

The immense popularity of Italian cuisine globally isn't unknown. You can find an Italian Pizzeria around every corner of almost every city in the United States. Not to forget that in every house, people enjoy mac and cheese as comfort food. But it would be wrong to believe that Italian food starts with pizza and ends with good pasta as this Mediterranean country has much more to offer other than these two dishes. In Italian Cuisine, there is a high use of fresh tomatoes, all kinds of herbs, great quality of cheese, all types of meat, seafood and fresh handmade pasta. Many find it hard to believe that Italians have been making noodles long back.

Italian and Greek cuisines are always mistaken to be same, but they are poles apart. The primary difference between the two cuisines is the use of cheese in most of the Italian dishes. Italians love to cultivate their own cheese and process them as per their food requirement. It is believed that some cheese is so expensive that cheese producers secure them in lockers.

If you are bored eating the same old pasta or pizza, you can try some of the authentic Italian dishes like Risotto, Polenta, Ribollita, Lasagna, Fiorentina Steak, Bottarga, Ossobuco, Carbonara, Focaccia, Arancini and Supplì. Another item which Italians love to relish every morning is a good cup of Italian Coffee. Once you taste a freshly brewed cup of Italian Coffee, you might not visit Starbucks ever again. Authentic Italian food is made with heart and soul, so go find a restaurant where you can relish Italian cuisine in your city.
