Really good food. I had the turkey sandwich with fries. Tasty and the bacon is thick.

Two stars for the "European style " French (with marmalade) pancakes and three stars for the regular pancakes. The European style pancakes usually are called crepes, but the large serving of unevenly cooked, cooking oil flavored, very thin pancakes soaked in a watery imitation of orange marmalade were not crepes; is this why they were called "European style? The wife said her regular pancakes were okay. The service was good at this popular restaurant but the coffee was indifferent.

Oh how I wish this place was better.. Went in on a Sunday morning and it was WAY too busy for me too wait with a hungry 3 year old. There were about 30+ people packed into the entry and a 45 min wait. I took the mass of people (and that its practically across the street from my house) to mean that it would be worth a return visit on another day. I was wrong.. The staff was supper nice and prompt but the food was awful. We ordered a half order of biscuits and gravy, potato pancakes, chicken fried steak, and a kids pancake and eggs. Thy gravy had no flavor and I mean none with very little sausage. The potato pancakes had a good crunch but other then that super bland and for some reason came with sour cream and strawberry apple sauce...? The only good thing was the pancakes we got for my daughter. They were great and the plate Came with 3 cakes so i ended up shearing with her. I'm a little picky but my gosh.. Sadly we won't be back, the 15 extra mins it takes to get to The Original Pancake House it WELL worth it.

This place is awesome good old fashioned favorites. The crepes are lovely!

I tried this place Sunday after being too impatient to wait at Brail's. When you go inside, it kinda feels like a place your grandparents would take you for the early bird special. It's low key, dated decorum is part of it's charm I guess. No need to pay attention to the surroundings when there are pancakes to be had! They've got a great menu, with pancake options that range from sweidsh pancakes, to potato pancakes to pumpkin! YUM! The interior is funky, but the food was good. Kid friendly and the menu is reasonably priced.

I am still a major fan of this place. The crepes are.. well unbelievably good. I always go for the lemon crepes. They are the best in my opinion. But this place is a grease spoon. Maybe that's why it tastes so good. If you dont like the extra oil, go some where else. But if you want yummy, hang over curing, crepes... go to Ye Olde Pancake House! But maybe only a few time a month, unless you want to get fat. Yumm Yummy

I don't know where to begin with this place. We stopped because the lot was full and we decided to try it out. We were seated and across from us I was uneasy because of the tweaker looking patrons giving me a stare down. Not the restaurants fault but still made me feel what did we get ourselves into here. I saw the "German pancakes" so I assumed and hoped it was similar to my favorite crepe's so I asked and it was. Of course I asked them to hold all of the weird garb and just had the butter and powder sugar like a normal person. I don't like the extra stuff like berries or jelly it just seems a bit much or weird. I'm a Dutch Indonisian girl who loves crepe's. Now my other half ordered an omelet which he usually does when we go out for breakfast, and he said this was the worst omelet he has had! I'm pretty sure it was a ham and cheese because that's what is his norm and that is hard to make bad!!! I also want to mention that I added a sausage link and an egg with my crepe and the egg tasted like it was over loaded with salt and the link was so gross and looked like it came from the south end of a dog! The bathroom was gross! We had to wait a while for our check we almost just walked up to the counter! The good....I really liked my hot cocoa!!! It's safe to assume on this review that we will not be returning customers!!!

I love chicken fried steak. Theirs was terrible it was like an old shoe thrown on a plate with a terrible gravy slopped on it. Dari mart canned gravy is better than the gravy served here. Don't waste your money go to addi's in springfield its worth the extra gas to make the trip.

Went for breakfast today, had ham, eggs, potatoes and toast. It was good better than Shari's down the street, but no crepes on the menu is the only downside!

Not going back. Ever. I was so hopeful, especially since they 'specialize' in breakfast. We went on a Sunday afternoon, and even with an empty-ish house they sat us right next to the door (it's 15 degrees out!) so I couldn't even take my coat off for our meal. My boyfriend ordered a strawberry lemonade and the host comes back with a cup of strawberry syrup with a little ice and a little lemonade. My boyfriend likes things sweet, much sweeter than my bitter preferences, and it was so thick and syrupy he didn't even drink it. He ordered a sausage and ham omelet, and I the eggs benedict with a side of toast. His omelet was so smothered in cheese (normally a good thing) that it was sitting in a puddle of grease. The hollandaise was so salty I'm pretty sure it had three days worth of the recommended sodium allowance, and the 'butter' on my toast was definitely far from butter. Not sure what the giveaway was there - the bright pee yellow color, or the fact that I had to smother the toast with jam packets to make it semi edible. Their only saving grace was the fact that I was ravenous (happens during pregnancy) and their hashbrowns were perfect. I mean perfect, and the only reason it deserves the one star I have to give it. I would compare this place to a Dennys or Shari's. Basically if you like mass amounts of grease, hydrogenated oil on your 'buttered' toast, and hollandaise sauce from a can, go here. If you're actually looking for a quality meal with real ingredients I recommend driving straight by. We will never cheat on our favorite breakfast joint - the glenwood - again. No matter what the weather.

Definitely nothing special about this place. I've been eating here for 17 years now, and the best I can say for it.... is that it's close to home, open early, and consistently very average. The portions aren't very generous (but then again, I eat for three), but it's enough to hold you over a while. All things considered, It's a great place to go for a bite and some hot coffee. Just don't expect amazing food and/or service.

I always enjoy swinging in for a yummy breakfast here. The place always seems to be very busy & for obvious reasons. The food & service is great. It's also a good place for kids cuz of the noise level. Lots of families & couples chatting away enjoying the tasty food.

Middling breakfast joint. Better than average service, extremely average food.

Good stuff. Two eggs and Pancakes was all I needed and it kicked ass. The eggs were done perfectly to order and the pancakes were nice, fluffy, and melted in your mouth. This place has Grapefruit juice. It's seriously hard to find breakfast places that carry it these days. Great food at affordable prices. Definitely recommended.

Came here on a Sunday morning. Waited 15 mins for a table. No problem, the food is generally pretty good and it's a weekend. However, what wasn't cool was the fact that after we were seated, we waited another 10 mins for our server to come to our table. We spoke to the manager about possible solutions to the problem and we were given a list of excuses and no apology for the poor reception. In fact, the manager informed us that perhaps we should've said we were ready to order to avoid a longer wait time. I've worked in the restaurant/customer service industry for years and NEVER is it ok to put the responsibility of the err on the customer! I was appalled at the lack of skills, caring and overall concern for customer satisfaction. Add that to the sink water that tasted of old pipes, the fly that kept circling our table, the not so fresh fruit, burnt English muffin, the 30 minute wait time for the food after we placed our order and the fact that my hard earned dollar doesn't seem to be appreciated here, we won't be returning!

We got here at 1:30pm on a Friday and were seated right away. I ordered the bacon and cheese omelette, my mom had the Belgium waffle, wife had the green chili omelette. The coffee was hot and fresh and they brought it in a carafe. I wish they had sugar in the raw. The syrup was hot and our meals were tasty. It was a good meal and we will be back.

I really like the breakfast food here. It's just somehow a little bit better. Definitely down home cooking in a down home restaurant. There's a big menu and daily specials, so you can get things like a breakfast burrito or potato pancakes (fav).

The service was friendly and cordial, even for a busy sunday morning. For standard breakfast foods, everything was just right. I love the bacon here! No frills, homey ambiance, and they leave you a whole pot of coffee - what more do you want? There are more Eugene-esque places with great brekky too - like keystone or new day - but if you're just in the mood for a diner breakfast in a big ol' booth, this is the place. Beats brail's by a mile...

A decent place for basic breakfast. The pancakes and various egg and bacon style fare are exactly what you'd expect. They make some good sandwiches as well. The service is friendly and the prices are mid range. It won't knock your socks off but this place beats any of the major chains any day.

Ok. So I'm 40 years old and I remember eating here as a child with my dad. The place has not changed at all! I guess you don't mess with a good thing. As you can guess this is a very old school grease spoon. Gret place to cure a hangover.

It's alright.... but nothing to get excited about. Very plain experience. I had weird stuff in my water, waitress was nice though.

Apparently I'm already an old fart, because I love this place. I love the style of the building, the old school feel of it, and it's down home vibe. I love the school spirit shown here too, from servers aprons, to the crazy hats seen on the cooks thru the line opening. The staff is always friendly, and the food filling and good. The omelettes are spectacular here, and there are many new and different options. The green chili is my favorite. My husband loves the pancakes, and waffles. He likes waffles cooked 'light' and the kitchen always does it right. It's a breakfast house. You don't go to a breakfast house to lose weight or diet, so don't try here. Order what you like, deal with the fact you're gonna go over your points for the day, and revel in it. But, even if you ARE trying to watch it (I always am) order your omelette SENIOR sized, make sides as fruit (always fresh and in season) and cottage cheese (I put mine ON my omelette. Yes, I know, shut up.)

A classic greasy spoon with an odd Oregon twist. The food here is mostly a starchy, greasy mess, the kind of food you'd feed your family...if you really hated them but were too cowardly to just hack them to death with an ax like Lizzie Borden, that is. To my great surprise, however, I found the spinach and mushroom omelette fantastic, so much so that it left a big old muddy bootprint all over the hiney of the Glenwood and most every other Eugene breakfast nook. However counterintuitive it might seem, Ye Olde Pancake House is capable of a real winner on occasion. Sadly, those winners come far too seldom. Which just leaves all the starchy, greasy stuff you get the rest of the time. Ye Olde Pancake House is so incompetent, they even manage to screw up toast! I'm not picky about toast; the only thing I really ask is that it be somewhere between its cold, never-heated-after-baking state (where I'm from, we call that "bread") and heated so long and/or viciously that it has no moisture whatsoever left, in which case it's just a large flat bread crumb. The oily, cold, freezer-burned hash browns aren't appetizing either. Picture IHOP food at bistro prices and you've got it about right. The coolest thing Ye Olde Pancake House offers is the trivia quiz at each table, which you can use to amuse yourself while waiting for your food since it takes a while on busy days. The wait staff is nice enough, too, but this place is a zoo at the witching hour on Saturday and especially on Sunday when the churchy folks invade. If you need a place to take the kids and the in-laws, this might do in a pinch...but if you're really looking for a good breakfast, you won't find it here.

Consistently good breakfast and lunch food. It is the classic breakfast menu, eggs omelettes namesake pancakes, done well and sandwich and soup menu for lunch. Their Bacon is really good here. For solid early food go here. Note 3 stars due to me having a stomach ache for a couple hours post meal

Old school. This place has been here for 40+ years, yet this was my first time here. Word has it the Ron Jeremy-like owner/mascot (props to a fellow Yelper for that catch) is still around, but with gray hair now. The place was packed on a Saturday morning with a very short wait. Friendly, efficient service got us seated and with food pretty quickly. We had the German lemon pancakes, crepes with a huge mound of lemon butter. They weren't at all sweet and needed the maple syrup that I stole my husband's pancakes. I really liked how the ends of the crepes were crispy. A chile relleno omelette special was interesting and tasty. Think big ole pasilla pepper splatted out of an omelette with a bunch of cheese and sauce. Not bad. The side of pancakes were light and fluffy. Bacon was okay, nothing special. Coffee is decent and they leave a thermos on the table. All in all, I probably won't be a regular (and Ye Olde has plenty of 'em, I'm sure) but it was a fun jaunt to a little time capsule down West 11th.

Solid place for breakfast. I had the chicken fried steak with eggs. Was pretty good, but not cheap. I think I'll check out some other places around Eugene before I come back.

This place is the place to go for Breakfast or Lunch. I love, love the biscuits and gravy. They have good coffee too. :)

Classic Diner-style food in a family-friendly atmosphere. I've been here several times, and honestly the only time we go is with the grandparents. The food here is typical of breakfast you might have at any diner across the US. Large portions, average food, pretty good service. This time I had eggs and hashbrowns with scrambled eggs. It tasted fine, came out hot, and was more than I could eat myself. The hashbrowns were not as crisp as I usually like. Basically, the food will always be 2 out of these 3 things: fast, hot, cooked right Overall, if you're just looking for a decent breakfast at a reasonable price with your grandfolks, this is the place to go. If you're looking for a place to impress your girlfriend, you'd probably be better off at Applebee's down the street.

Omg, this place is terrible. We end up here occasionally because of a coworker who loves breakfast for lunch. This place really does smack of greasy spoons, alarmingly bad coffee, and grandparents. Some notable menu items include the Reuben club (greasy!), the regular dry club with ridiculously tasty bacon, an egg McMuffin-type dish, and their hashbrowns. Hmm. Plus, it's not exactly the value you've been seeking for all of your lunches. I had the dry club with a "salad" -- a bowl of Romaine with one gigantic, chilled tomato slice on the top -- for $11. What?! Pass. On everything.

Had a breakfast for lunch. The service was fast and the food hot. Everything was just how I wanted it. No complaints.

My fella loved his swedish pancakes, but if you're interested in having anything else reconsider. He couldn't eat the bacon it was so undercooked and he paid extra to add two eggs but because he asked for them scrabbled he received about half the order of dried out eggs. My eggs and hashbrowns were dripping with oil. The toast was burnt and the sausage had obviously been sitting under a lamp for a long time. I heard there was good hang over food here, but even then it's too greasy. On a positive note the place was packed but we didn't have to wait long. Lucky we bought the living social deal they ran and didn't have to risk too much by trying it.

After waiting for thirty minutes to just order (and no... it wan't crazy busy as you might think), I was hopeful that the waitress was just having a bad day. The food was ok, but not something that would bring me back. After some time passes, I may give this place another shot, but our first experience was terrible.

I have been a regular at Ye Olde Pancake house for a few years now. It is conveniently located near my work, so I manage to get a meal or two there every month. While there is nothing spectacular about the menu or the food, there are no real pitfalls either. I have ordered omelets with a variety of fillings not on the menu, like bacon, cheddar, and pepproncini, and they are always prepared well. They have surprisingly good soups for lunch, and the tuna club has become one of my favorites. The staff is quite friendly and efficient. The coffee is well below average, and the slightly high prices keep me from rating them 5 stars. Be prepared to wait for a table during the weekend breakfast rush.

Ye Olde Pancake House is my favorite breakfast spot in Eugene. I am mainly on omelet guy, and theirs beats all of the others. I have become somewhat of a regular and most of the waitresses know what my usual is, so I rarely have to order. Most of the staff has been here as long as I have been coming (about 2 years) and they are always pleasant and friendly.
