Disclaimer: as a native of Tennessee, I am picky about bbq. I ordered the half rack of ribs from the food truck. Very pricey for a half rack at $15. The menu descried the ribs as dry rub with a small amount of sauce. What i got was more akin to wet ribs. There was a hefty serving of a tangy, unremarkable bbq sauce on the ribs which were extremely soft and had no indication of a dry rub. I suspect they left the ribs heating in the foil for too long. Real dry rub ribs should have a bit of a crust and a small amount of chew -- still tender, but they shouldn't fall of the bone and should provide a bit of resistance when you bite -- these were mush. The nachos were tasty. Nice toppings, and the chips weren't soggy. This is 2 star bbq - not very good, but for the purely bizarre amount of bbq in this market, they're above average. At least I could taste the smoke.

Overall we enjoyed the food, the flavors and tenderness was slightly above average, the price was the drawback. Considering the portions they are without doubt the most expensive bbq. If they were offing an establishment that was consummate with fine dining I could overlook some of the price differential but this is not somewhere you go to impress your date.

The restaurant no man's land of Churchill has a new restaurant. It's okay. I ordered the half rack of ribs with two sides, $9. The ribs are the kind that are dry-rubbed and smoked, then topped with a very average barbeque sauce. The meat had a softer texture than I'm used to and had no char, no bark. I think these could use four more hours in the smoker, or they should be seared right before serving. I would not order these again. Baked beans were good with a nice, smoky sauce. Cole slaw was decent with less mayonnaise than usual. They're operating out of truck currently, but are renovating the restaurant space on this lot and plan to open next month with a fuller menu - sandwiches, plates, family dining and nachos. They will be doing catering. I wouldn't drive out to Churchill to try this again. But if you live in the neighborhood, I'm sure you could find something to enjoy

On a recent roadtrip to Eugene to look at boats, The Smoking Pig was chosen after Googling BBQ reataurants in Eugene, because one person in our party of three thought BBQ sounded good. It did to the other two as well. The Smoking Pig is a small walk-up and order joint with the great smell of BBQ on entering. It was clean and the staff very helpful. The menu, with all the items they offer, is on a board on the wall. We all ordered and paid at the counter. We sat after ordering our BBQ lunches at one of a few tables. We were hungry and looking forward to the food. It came promptly, hot and smelling great. One person had baby back ribs, and myself and another in our party both had brisket sandwiches. My sandwich was hot, well seasoned with sauteed green peppers, cheese, and sweet BBQ sauce, and very tasty. It was great, but the mac & cheese side was kind of bland. All the food got a two thumbs up from the three of us. I'd seek out the Smoking Pig again when visiting Eugene

Not quite what I expected having experienced true Southern Barbeque. It was good but it didn't "wow" me.
