Good ol' cafe food and lots of it. Menu is expansive... service is attentive and friendly. This is not your typical Eugene Organic fare (which I love)... this is where you go if you have a huge appetite and want a decent meal at a fair price. My brothers would love it! I've ordered the Chicken Fried Steak every single visit and have not been disappointed.

Seated quickly, server was friendly. Waited 30 minutes for breakfast while there were only 5 other tables of customers in the place. I would have thought breakfast would have been much quicker personally. Food was okay. Pancakes were lackluster but bacon was good. Also had a monte cristo that wasn't bad. Food is what saved this review from being a 1 star as it was passable. Service after being seated was friendly but the slowest I've seen in a sit down restaurant in a long time. If you don't have all day to wait, this place likely isn't for you. The service was a solid 1 even with it being friendly.

Extremely unimpressed. Sadly this is a great location for people who work in the area and when it was BJ's the food was good and nice lunch specials. What it is now is a modified Denny's, but it's actually more expensive and the selection isn't as impressive. The food is over priced, 10+ bucks for a 3 egg omelet? Are you kidding me? The atmosphere is super bland and lacking, very dull, not lively. The music they had playing sounded like they told Pandora to only pick unpopular 70-90's songs. The booth they put me in was uneven, had a big cut on the bench seat, and questionably cleaned. Anyhow the service was adequate, though my server was fairly aloof and unimpressive. Onto the food. I ordered the nachos, it's $9 and you get a fairly large plate of food, unfortunately you aren't going to want it. You can really tell a restaurant by how badly they mess up nachos. The taco meat was super greasy, drain that before serving. I can forgive using bulk ingredients, but when the entire plate tastes like it was out of a can and microwaved, yuck. The "guacamole" was green liquid goo out of a container, the salsa was pace picante, which just really isn't good on restaurant nachos, the sour cream was standard low quality, and the shredded cheese was from a package, not grated on site, packaged shredded cheese makes bad nachos because it doesn't melt right from the anti caking agent used. So add this all up and you end up with some really low quality nachos. Too many ingredients with mounds of preservatives. Yes it's a harsh review but this "family" joint isn't really worth it. Sad that's the best they could do with such a nice place.

I wish I could give them no stars cuz we got no food! I understand Sunday brunch will be busy and you might have to wait a little, but I waited half an hour for a straw that I had to finally flag down another server for and waited well over an hour and a half for our food before we got up and left. Extremely frustrated. I've been here before and the food was good, but the service has always been sub par and today was just unacceptable.

Bummer. Just missed the mark. I would not return.

We've tried this place three times now and the service has been consistent...horrible. 50 minute wait for our food and then the food is only mediocre. We figured the first time was due to their being new, the second a glitch but three in a row... needless to say we won't be back.

Not having ventured to the Coburg area in some time, we drove to this location thinking we'd be getting brunch at the Wild Duck. Upon arriving, we realized Wild Duck had closed and The Kozy was its replacement. Without a backup, we decided we'd just give this place a try. After standing around waiting for several minutes, we were finally seated and given some menus. For a restaurant that seems to pride itself on great breakfast, we thought it was a bit strange that they did not have eggs benedict. So, we decided on a turkey club sandwich and a sirloin cheeseburger. After placing our order, our server just disappeared so we could not order drinks. To make matters worse, we came during a Ducks game and some of the TVs were off. Even after requesting one of them to be turned on so we could watch the game, the TV was left off for the remainder of our time at the restaurant. After a substantial wait, we were finally brought our food. The turkey was dry, bland, and cut up into chunks--not sliced as you'd expect a turkey club. It almost appeared as though the same turkey was used for all their turkey dishes. The bread was decent and tasted fresh, but that's about all that could be said for the turkey club. As for the burger, it was very dense, cooked well-done, and was on the dry side. Although the meat was good quality, it was definitely a disappointment. Maybe we just hit this place at the wrong time and ordered the wrong thing. Some of their breakfast items coming out of the kitchen looked pretty decent. And, the prices are very reasonable. However, we were definitely not very satisfied with our experience at The Kozy.

Gotta say, not real impressed... 'might' return for breakfast to give it a go, but never for lunch or dinner when there are so many better eateries around. One must excel in food quality to keep us comin' back.

We've eaten at Kozy Kitchen a few times now. Tasty. So far we've liked everything we've had. The cinnamon-roll pancakes are unique and delicious. Good service. Large portions for your dollar.

I rarely review a restaurant after one visit, and tonights return visit to The Kozy on Coburg Rd is a prime example of why. Last Wednesday morning my son and I decided to give it a try for breakfast, and I was pleasantly surprised- clean, good service, decent - not great- all American fare. Biscuit made fresh, gravy was delicious, bacon, eggs and hash browns cooked just right. Needless to say, i decided to return with the whole family. Tonight was a tale of 2 restaurants. The Food was awful. Not just bad- disgusting. See the photo... The meal my wife ordered was 3-piece fried chicken dinner with veggies and a baked potato with the works. What she GOT was a mystery. Three pieces of chicken that if added together did not equal one breast. The breading was raw underneath, and it tasted sour and nasty. The "vegetables" were diced carrots and peas mixed and boiled to death. The peas were BROWN... When the waitress asked us if everything was good, I just asked her if she would serve that at her table...she sheepishly admitted No Way. The potato had obviously been in the oven all day- it was dry and "the works" was a tablespoon of margarine. Seriously. And $2.25 for a tiny cup of coffee, without a single refill offered or received. The waitress was more interested in chatting with other employees than waiting tables. I will not be returning to The Kozy...

Kind of meh. The burgers are good. The meatloaf sandwich is greasy. Good fries. Not great service. See? Meh.

I have eaten at all the Kozy kitchens never been unhappy till this one the service was almost non existent food was wrong when we received it no refills on our drinks steak was 90% fat rest was so tough it was barely eatable my food was so foul tasting couldn't eat more than two bites workers seem to be running in circles and not even busy in there

Well shoot. I really wanted to Like this place. darn it! I made a reservation for 11:30am Sunday. Arrived a few moments before and was ignored for 10 minutes. Another customer complained and the hostess snapped, "We just had 100 people walk in here all at once!" As though that justified the rudeness. After sitting down and getting water to drink, we waited 45 minutes for our food. I gave this place 2 stars because the ones in our party who ordered hamburgers said theirs were pretty good. I ordered the lighter fare pork chop that arrived last, and came with a boat of corn and tasted like a piece of dried shoe leather. Sadly, we won't be coming back despite the pleasant atmosphere and reasonable prices.

Delicious breakfasts! Love browns are yummy. If you are lucky enough to be there when they have their blueberry lemon pancakes, they are wonderful!

This restaurant has great potential - reasonably good food at a good price point. Have eaten here twice in the past three weeks, and both times the food alone would have earned a 3.5-4 star based on flavor and freshness; nothing amazing but decent "comfort food." That said, as other reviewers have noted, service and food prep time remains unbelievably bad, worth maybe a 0.5 rating if generous. First visit was during evening, and fairly busy - our waitstaff was attentive, professional, and friendly, as well as apologetic for a "very slow kitchen tonight." Half hour wait. Went again yesterday (busy Sunday morning) - again a 30 minute wait for pancakes for our son, and a combo biscuit/gravy/hashbrown for me. Very inattentive watistaff - had to ask several times for refills on coffee and water while we waited. Thirty minutes for pancakes? Again, the staff apologized for the long wait. I may try one more time - just because I really want to have a place on the north end of town with decent breakfast options, but one more visit like this and I predict a similar fate to the recently-vacated Wild Duck . . .

This place just opened two weeks ago, so we decided one afternoon to see what's on the menu. Overall we were quite pleased. I ordered the Monte Cristo (French toast ham and cheese) and that thing was pretty beast. The food to price ratio is really good here. You get some giant portions for a 8.95-9.90 plate. Also the quality is much better than that of a typical breakfasty restaurant. The menu is also pretty large, with lunch and dinner options as well. CINNAMON ROLL PANCAKES Fat kids rejoice! The waitress was also extremely friendly and helpful despite the place only being open 2 weeks. Only small gripes were that the wait time was a tiny bit long, but we did have 4 people so I understand. They were probably understaffed. I definitely reccomend this place if you're looking for something new, with some good prices while also giving your pallet a loving slap on the ass.

  • S K.

Nice clean restaurant. Employees friendly but not very engaging. Seemed like it took quite some time to have our order taken and then receive our food. The menu options actually fit the business name, like mom's home cooking. If you happen to be gluten free you probably want to try someplace else as they have very little options.

  • Amanda B.

I wasn't expecting a gourmet meal.. I didn't get one either. I ordered biscuits and gravy (only thing that sounded remotely good). The biscuits and gravy were okay, comparable to Denny's. The wait staff were really nice which is where the 2nd star comes in. We do have a 2 year old... This was the first place in months that offered to bring crayons and paper without me having to ask.

Really bad service very unorganized they host sat use down at a table and no one came up to use with a menu or water nothing after 15 minutes i went up to one of the waiter told him the service sucks here and we left,

Came here looking for a steak dinner. We received excellent service and a great meal at a reasonable price. We will definitely be back.

I'm glad to see the Kozy in this area. We need a good spot for breakfast on Coburg Road. That is still to be seen, 2 visits and still not too impressed. The food is OK but the service is pretty slow. Don't expect bacon and eggs in 30 minutes. I think they think we all have time to kill and savor the moment, I just want food and service so I can get on my way right now. MANAGEMENT: Tell them staff to pay attention and hurry up! I will be back and hope they get the point.

  • Aaron S.

This is our first time here. And I'm sure we'll be back. The food was real good. My wife got the authentic breakfast burrito and I had the big mama platter and we both had leftovers. Normally my son talks the whole way through a meal but he must have really liked his French toast because we didn't hear a word out of him until he was done. Good service. We came on a weekday which may explain the quickness of which we received our food.

  • Mary V.

Worst dinner I have ever had. We sent 1 meal back back it was rubber. The meatloaf was old & hard on edges; the "grilled" pork chops were fried in rancid grease; the applesauce tasted moldy. The waitress was very nice. The decor is lovely; now if only they can find a cook. Can I give less than 1star?

  • Kristy W.

Like others wrote, it was just meh and mediocre food for me too! I agree it's mainly a breakfast spot to be on the safer side of things. Other wise it would remind me of a retirement homes food! I do how ever like how bright it is when you walk in! The service, well I felt like baby got put in a corner!!! We got led to the first booth up the steps, and not to a window booth! I felt awkward! There was barely anyone there, so I wondered why we were sat here! Probably just a lazy waitress! She seemed unfriendly, and didn't crack a smile! Our next waitress barely checked on us, and my drink was wrong but I'm not sure if it was accidental or not. I know people make mistakes so I won't hold that against her on our first visit. It was hard to chose something on the menu because the food selection doesn't look really appetizing! Like I said the fair is really something out of maybe a retirement home! My other half was able to pick something because he enjoys breakfast food more than I do in the middle of the afternoon! In any event when we did get our food our server just like the first lady, she didn't crack a smile, didn't ask how our food was, and she took a long time! We had to flag someone down for our check! They are so slow here, and I can't figure out why when there was hardly anyone there! Just plain strange! With all this said and done makes me not want to go back. There really wasn't anything there for me other than the fact that it was nice and bright while walking in.

They make a tasty chicken fried steak, but I would order ahead and get it to go. We had a large group of ten and waited an entire hour from seating to food. I didn't bother to quiet my four year old nephew when he kept asking "where's my toast?" I wish I knew... Also it is about 80 degrees in there and when you have to beg for water it isn't very cozy.

Gave this place a try for the first time. Ordered the Big Mamma's platter. The Eggs, Sausage, Gravy and Hash Browns were on point and very appetizing. However, the biscuit was did not follow suit. I am not sure what type of biscuit they were going for, but being from the south I know a good biscuit. It seemed very dense and dry for our taste. I will be trying then out for dinner soon.

The Kozy has some big shoes to fill replacing BJs. I decided to go for a chicken sandwich with cream cheese and cranberries. The fries were great and they give you tons. The bread was similar to hoagie bread from the grocery store and was soggy from the warmed cream cheese. I wish I had just gone for a breakfast for dinner (didn't see any dinner options that were appealing). My friend got fried shrimp from the dinner menu but it looked more like an appetizer with tons of fries. My other friend got the lighter version of chicken strips with fries and it seemed like a better deal. The fries were good, but I think anyone could make a better sandwich tons cheaper. The service was friendly.

First time was lunch a couple of months ago. Just OK. Someone said breakfast is the strong suit here, so tried that a few weeks ago. Better than the previous lunch, so OK+. Stopped this morning for another try at breakfast. No one working the floor ( although there was a group that had been served ). Seated myself in full view of the kitchen and waited almost 10 minutes without any sign of service. Left and went elsewhere. Probably won't try a fourth time.

Husband and I went for dinner. We thought the food was good, and more like homemade than you get at all the chain restaurants. I even had potato salad that tasted like homemade ! We will definitely go back....we both want to try the breakfast next time.

Liked the people the are nice but don't know what they are doing need more training the food was ok but not that great the chicken I ordered was small very hard to cut it was very very small and tough? Will go back and try their breakfast I hope it's better eugene needs a family restaurant .

I have been into kozy many many times living in coos bay, i moved to eugene and was so excited there was a new one coming in here. I went there lastnight and boy was i disapointed!!! As i was ordering I hear all the kitchen staff yelling and doing dares, screaming "do it, do it, do it" as if there was not a body in the resturant. Clearly there needs to be a lot of changes here or your resturant will not last. I was so disappointed in the food. it was soaked in sauce where my bun was soggy! chili was like water. most importantly i wasnt so sure my food was made in a sanitary enviroment. im not sure what was going on in the kitchen as the yelling never stopped. what an unpleasant meal. there needs to be some management involved in this resturant and more less some adult supervision. the young workers were out front in there aprons trying to get the host to do something she was not comfortable doing. I am sorry to say I wont be returning and i will be letting my family and friends know about my experience there. As Im sure they wont be coming in either.

The Kozy has easily the worst management and kitchen staff in Eugene. Recently, I found pubic hairs in an omelet I had ordered there. Not only did the kitchen staff refuse to replace it (although I wasn't going to ask for anything) they shouted and used profanity and chased me out of the store. Later, I tried to contact the owners or managers or anyone in a position of authority to inform them of my grievance, but I was never even offered so much as a call back or an apology. I don't feel that it's unreasonable to have an issue like this addressed. I can safely say that I will NEVER visit the Kozy Kitchen again in spite of their typically tasty food and exceptionally friendly wait staff. If any one else has a similar story I would ask that you share it as well. No business should get away with treating their customers this way. One more thing: expect the kitchen to take an hour getting something as simple as toast out to you even on a slow day.

Had our grandmothers birthday here and after everyone ate we noticed ants in the salt shakers. They still made us pay for the meal. Never coming back. Much better choices in the Eugene area.

The Kozy hasn't been in Eugene very long at all. In fact, this place opened its doors down in North Bend, OR. I know this as I am a native of the southern coast. The Kozy Kitchen, A.K.A. The Kozy, is that place we would go to eat at 1am when we were drunk and craving breakfast in our late teens, early twenties. What they do best is breakfast. I have NEVER opted to have dinner/lunch at The Kozy. Why? I'm not sure, I guess because I've seen plenty of food brought out, and nothing ever looked appatizing enough. Also, they specialize in breakfast, so ordering a plate of meat loaf with mashed taters and gravy just never crosses my mind. Ever. Let's consider the clientele they've had over the years. Senior Citizens, Fisherman, Loggers, and Drunken Youth. Where as Eugene has plenty of Senior Citizens and Drunken Youth, I think The Kozy would perform better if located closer to campus for the hangover crowd. We came in the other day to give this location a run. I grabbed an order of B&G per usual. It hasn't changed a bit! Same 'ol salty, filling, B&G that I used to crave after a long night of drinking. Since living in Eugene, I've been exposed to some pretty decent breakfast spots. I can't see myself coming here on a consistent basis. If I were in Coos Bay/North Bend??? Yeah...I would go to The Kozy....Options are limited. But up in Eugene, I would rather go to Studio 1 or The Glenwood. An upside is that they have good prices with large portions, so keep that in mind when hunting for a grip of food for cheap. They are a bit understaffed at the moment. The other day we were able to get seated, but it was a 45 minute wait for food. Say What!?!?!?

    (3)
  • Dan C.

We will be back for sure. The portions are huge. The hashbrowns are just way I like it, crispy and lots of butter. The biscuits are made in house. Gravy has just the right consistency and full flavor. The OJ is from concentrate but just fine. The large is a full pint. Show up hungry. Service is good. Better than any Denny's or iHop.

I want to like Kozy as it's close and convenient so my first review was based on what I thought was the potential of this location and the ability to put out quality family style food. After now several visits or roughly a $400 investment, here's is why I've deleted my first review because frankly it was way off. Front of house service....awkward. Little communication, poorly setup. Service....slow, uneven Food....mediocre, nothing great, all OK. Breakfast is simply to pull off, why 40+ minutes to get even a simply dish. On our last visit, watched people get up and leave without ever getting their food. We waited 35 minutes, no drink refills, walked away as well without nary a word from any of the headless chickens walking about. That being all said..maybe another try in several weeks to see if any changes made. If not, this family won't be Kozy anytime soon.

I had breakfast on August 3rd at the Eugene location. I ordered the eggs benedict and a side of link sausage. The benedict was terrible. It came with over cooked eggs and ham and the supposed hollandaise sauce was like a yellow mash of goo which had no taste at all. The sausage was cold. I ate very little of any of it and I felt as if I had eaten a gut bomb. If you want quantity and bland food, this is a place for you. If you want quality that tastes great..try somewhere else.

For some reason my review of a The Kozy in Eugene is no longer "recommended" by Yelp, but I'm telling you: we tried this place with high hopes but it was a bad dining experience. Reluctant service, plastic plates and cups, pale/underripe vegetables, skimpy overpriced sandwich, cornbread consistency pancakes, hospital cafeteria quality omelette. Not good. They seated us (4 people) in a booth meant for 2, having already seated parties of 2 in nearly all their large booths that can accommodate up to 6. Also, really slow. Kozy was my first and only review for awhile, but our experience was so disappointing (and actually borderline rude) that it needed to be posted. Miss BJs in this location. Hopefully we will have something better there soon!

We finally decided to try this place and was pleasantly surprised. For the price the food is pretty good and the portions are quite big. They do serve some bottles beers but have nothing on tap. We tried their lunch/dinner stuff: Cobb salad, meatloaf sandwich, cheeseburger, and their chili cheese fries. No complaints on any of it. The chili cheese fries were great! We will be back again. Need to try their breakfast food.

My wife and I just had lunch there. We split what they call a meat loaf melt. She ordered milk and I ordered peach iced tea. Since this restaurant has been open for only 3 weeks, we were pleased with the speed with which the food was delivered. The meat loaf sandwich was as good as we have ever had and the iced tea was very good also. And even though we split the sandwich, it was plenty of food. I had to order the chocolate cream pie to test the deserts. It was equally good. The cost for all of this was less than $16.00. Our server, Mariah, was both prompt and pleasant. We were also surprised that they serve all meals all day. So you can have dinner for breakfast or breakfast for dinner. We will definitely be back soon to try their breakfasts next.

Had dinner at The Kozy last week. We were seated right away and our waitress was very attentive. The food arrived very quickly and was delicious. The Monte Cristo sandwich was piled high and the hash browns were just the way I like them. I will definitely return!

My husband and I came here on a whim. This place just opened this week and we had no idea what it was about except that the sign in the window said they served breakfast. The warning came right after we were seated and I decided to google some info about the establishment at which I was hoping to enjoy a meal. This proved to be confusing because it appears to be a chain in all but name (they tweaked the name from "Kozy Kitchen" to "The Kozy"). I'm not a fan of chains but whatever, we were already here and I was willing to give it a chance. The staff was nice but a bit scattered. We had four different servers check on us and no one seemed to know who was supposed to be doing what. We ordered an omelet, which came with hash browns and toast, to split between us and I'm glad that we did because the portions are huge! Unfortunately, the flavor left a lot to be desired. The food was really bland, not a hint of any kind of seasoning. I also like my omelets fluffy, but the egg in this omelet was paper thin. Half way through the meal I noticed something floating on the bottom of my husband's water glass. We told the server and she brought us a different glass, which turned out to be dirty as well. Also the ketchup that was sitting on the table was one of those big-name brands with high fructose corn syrup as the second ingredient on the list. When I see this as the condiment a restaurant chooses to provide, I lose all confidence in what is actually happening in the kitchen. All of this, plus the awful country music playing over the speakers, made for a not so "kozy" experience.

We love the Kozy Kitchen in Florence. Clearly this place has no management. There are some decorative cutouts in the wall with hanging pots and pans. The lazy waiter would put the food to be delivered in those dusty cutouts, one being over my head. He had to lean over me and reach above my head to fetch hot soup. When my husband asked him to not do that, he got offended and stopped serving us. My 6 year old did not have her meal, and my soup remained in the cutout above my head. I had to seek out a new waitress after being told that there was not a manager. The new waitress was super nice and helped us while naughty waiter brooded. Food was meh. We will NOT go back. I bet the health department would not be thrilled with their serving practices and a server without a food handlers card. Go elsewhere if you want a good meal.

  • Donna A.

Let's start with a 43 minute wait for our meal, Literally 2 minutes away from going to McDonalds. On top of the wait our coffee was refilled once while watching the table next to us be seated, order, served and nearly finish before our food came. Then my wife's food was cold and rubbery. Finally the bill came with a $2.00 charge for ham on a breakfast sandwich, when the menu clearly stated choice of meat. There was nothing mentioned about a extra charge. WE WILL NOT BE BACK!!!!!

This is our favorite breakfast spot! The portions are large for a great price! My husband loves their Authentic breakfast burrito.
